Just don't forget that even a little push to communication between survivors is demanding some big buffs to Killers.

I also really like the idea of a text or symbol wheel as well as an alternative and I definitely agree about the killer balance issue though I think some killers need a buff in general as it is regardless of what happens to survivor

I'm glad you also realised what I did about toxicity/solo balance! And sorry, I read 'optional' as 'optimal' for some reason. Being optional would definitely be better than it being on all the time. I feel like the uses you put forward (the sprint burst/healing thing) are extremely situational. I agree it would help in times like those, but I still think the solo experience needs improvement in other aspects.

In a way I find it to be a part of DBD's core mechanics (not being able to talk to the other survivors unless you're in a SWF), which is why I really want solo surv buffing.

Oh that was definitely a very situational example, just sprung to mind first since I always run sb, even stuff like if multiple survivors are going for an unhook against a proximity camping killer and someone being able to say they've bt or we'll make it. Or working on a gen with someone and saying that they should go for the unhook because youve resilience.

Apart from this I saw the idea of an implemented version of kindred for solos that could be a good idea, it's just very hard to balance a game that has such a huge range of skill between the player base I think

  • This could actually work really well, could also help with camping and tunnelling (and I mean tunnelling literally within around 5 seconds of unhook, not ds style) if the bar was punished for it.

Also fill the bar slightly if survivors proper teabag would be fun lol

Do you mean like, a voice chat or typing out some text?

With the voice chat route, while this could be something interesting to add I feel like it's another way to be toxic to your teammates. Although it could be beneficial if people decide to be nice.

Text also could be interesting but standing still to type sounds disastrous. Whether it's wasting time/the killer finds you and you're in the middle of typing something, I just wouldn't trust it. Plus you could still be hella toxic and troll with it (I'm thinking of the kinds of people to just follow you around the map just to keep harassing you, although they're quite rare to come across).

Overall I feel like the solo survivor experience just needs improving, but I don't think having a way to talk to the other survivors is the way to achieve it.

Yep I meant voice chat and you're literally in the exact same mindset as me with everything you said, about toxicity and solo balance.

For toxicity I think like any game that's why its necessary to be optional but I do think that it could be a benefit to help solo survivor groups without being gamebreaking in the slightest as long as it has a very small range.

Just small things like for example i run sprint burst and sometimes I'm in a situation where I'm very near an injured teammate and I just have to follow behinf them until they stop or realise Im there to heal them or sacrifice my one exhaustion perk. Just little things that could really help solos

You really think people struggle to BM? lol In both roles, people just want more points. You have to take people at their word unless you can prove otherwise. As The Killer, I usually do a few last minute things for extra points or I just read the incoming hate mail from that Trial lol

You're greatly over estimating the manners of the community if you think people wouldn't struggle to just BM lol. A lot of people don't find the small amount of bloodpoints you get for wasting 60secs mashing a button worth it, especially given queue times to get into a match in the first place.

You have to take people at their word unless you can prove otherwise :)

Is there such a lack of killers on console that me? A level 8? Had to go against this level of inexperienced players? This is in no way fair for them. The ruin nerf didnt help new players. It killed off so many killers it did the exact opposite

I play ps4 as well and there is a huge lack of killers. It takes usually more than 10 minutes to get into a survivor lobby whereas killer is almost instant. Makes it not worth playing because of the amount of time you have to wait.

Because there's NO shaming going on at all?

He's the killer and lamenting that he got matched to a bunch of low ranking potatoes, which wasn't very fair to THEM.

That being said, yes, he should probably edit out names so as not to get in trouble.

I think you misinterpreted that, theyre agreeing with what you're saying

  • I really don't like going against bubba, I find it really hard to avoid the chainsaw because if the range, never seem to be able to outrun it

Definitely hate spirit the most though, I'm just not good against her lol. Never understand how people are so good at knowing exactly where you are as they phase, whenever i play her i am absolutely HOPELESS at being so accurate with my phasing. I also still have no idea how you'd go about countering her.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Toolboxes are now focused more on sabo than gens.

    Definitely this

I never bring a toolbox with the intention to use it on gens anymore, only time I'd consider using one on gens is at the end of the game with maybe one or two gens left and almosy being finished a gen when the killer is nearby

Survivor mains: He made mistakes and didnt apply enough pressure. Yet survivors can make mistakes all the time and have second chances. Shits busted.

You sound like a parrot tbh

    Killers have second chance too

As well as that you shouldn't even conpare second chances on survivor with killer since second chance isn't what killer needs in the same way, killer needs time/information more so comparing the strenth of second chance perks on survivors to time/information perks on killer is a better way to go about balancing the game

I'm OK with a charity event, but I have not read a SINGLE thread asking for it. All threads are like "well... now that I'm bored at home, I'll ask BHVR for more BPs"

And whats wrong with that? Literally how is it harmful to ANYONE by suggesting to have double bloodpoints for a couple of days? I'd understand being mad if it was in an offensive way or damaging to some party in some way but it's literally just people saying "We're stuck inside with a lot of time on our hands, we're playing more, bp event would be handy right now". That's it. That's the reason.

Having an actual corona virus event would be in poor taste but have double bp for a couple of days for the people like myself and many others who have lost their jobs until who knows when and are out of college/school for 6 months is completely harmless?

3 downs and I believe 2 hooks already, if you need about 10-12 hooks to end a game as Killer, 2 hooks is 20% of the full objective (completed in UNDER two minutes).

1 gen completed in LESS than 30 seconds, if you need 5 gens to complete this main objective, 1 gen is 20% of the main objective (completed in LESS than 30 seconds).

I'm not considering the exit gates time and I'm not considering the chase, pick up and search time.

Yes but the difference is typically start game is the least pressure for survivors as killer is in search phase, endgame is most pressure so it makes sense that gens would go faster in start than end for survivors, its not proportional and consistent throughout the game whereas killer applies more pressure endgame and should have a higher hook rate later game

  • Survivors: Yui, Bill, Adam, David, Nancy

Will probably replace nancy with jake when I get him leveled

Killers: Myers, Wraith, Trapper to play as but if its to play against then

Pig, Ghostface at the start of that list

27 seconds for one gen. 27. With only one toolbox and one prove thyself .

How the heck did that manage to get into the game? Is the concept of having an early game just gone to rot in a dumpster fire ?

When it happened otz even he sounded worried, otz. One of the best killer players. In the end if he hadn't had stblf , if the person on the shoulder was struggling. He might've only gotten 2 kills. When he's trying his best. Otz.

How's your average Joe or Josephine supposed to deal with this?

3 survivors downed in LESS than 2 minutes in as well, can't just pick and choose what you want from the evidence and ignore what's happening to the other side

  • @TheLastGreatStar said:

Killers don’t really get a second chance. One little mistake can cost you the entire game. There’s perks like Blood Warden and Devour Hope. But I wouldn’t class them as second chance perks. Considering they can both be avoided and they aren’t easy to activate at all. Lol

Yeah alright but you can't say that as an excuse for the killer perks as if your guarenteed to use all your second chance perks as survivor

Unbreakable- get slugged for long enough and ALSO have the killer be far enough away so that you don't just get downed instantly again

DS - get tunneled and picked up and you still have to hit the skill check

DH - Doesnt work against killers who one shot, noed, exposed effect when healthy etc

BT - Not the same as above but only works when killer is close so they're in good range of whoever unhooked and doesn't have bt. Also wont work against no terror radius

Deliverance - Have to SAFELY unhook before you get hooked once, also if you avoid getting hooked the whole game but get hooked at the end as last survivor even if you met requirements, you don't get to use it. You're also broken so very vulnerable and you have to hope that killer stays far enough from hook to get away in the first place

I still think the fact discussed in above posts that second chance isn't killers focus but time is is more of an issue that should be discussed and compare how effective killers time buying perks are to how effective survivor second chances are when it comes to balancing. But it's not right to act like survivors are handed second chances left right and centre, theyre all conditional and can be avoided, as they should be

I agree with all these expect "better together", which I think is a great perk.

Also for "surge" you forgot to include it must be a basic attack, For it to even trigger to make it even worse

So agree with you on better together, I really really like it and don't have a problem swapping it in for other perks

Well honestly it's different all over apparently. It's frustrating because simultaneously we're hearing how crazy everything is and the stock market is crashing, etc etc. But then you got people going to parties and gathering on the weekends like it doesn't matter at all... I honestly think some states, like California, simply have to carry the lez faire attitude about it because we are to big to slow down properly. The stock market would probably die if all those tech companies in SF had to slow down for even a day.

Also, I'm customer facing all day, entering folks homes, so that's my reference as to how the majority are doing/feeling about things.

We've had in door gatherings of over 100 people and outdoor of over 300 people all banned so it sounds a lot different but we're a lot smaller obvs so I get that's something thatd be simpler to implement than in America

We know it's going to affect our economy badly by shutting places but I think in the long run it will still be better for the people and the economy if we prevent it from becoming as bad as say Italy has it

I feel like I'd be so paranoid trying to go about as normal if I was in California though hearing that hahaha

Open-Handed can synergize relatively well with some aura-reading perks, Up the Ante synergizes with Offerings such as Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips. However, they're far from being the best.

Definitely, I'd like to see how the devs would change up the ante though cause I think that's the only one theyd consider if they did look at ace's perks and yeah tbh I now that Im thinking about it it's probably the only one that's in a bad enough way for it to need a rework.

I feel like they'll be so focused with addressing other complaints and issues that neither Quentin nor Ace will be looked at for a long while

  • @FichteHiro said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1159169#Comment_1159169

I don't think Ace's perks are terrible but it's really hard to find any sign of viability in Quentin's perks.

Really? Open handed NEEDS to be paired and I cant see when you'd ever really use up the ante unless you were in a pinch on hook

I dunno maybe there's a synergy there that I'm missing (like of course bond and open handed etc) but I'd only ever use them for the craic

  • I think if all survivors both Quentin and Ace have the absolute worst of them, I never see anyone running any of them even when they play as those characters (quentin is rare enough to see though as it is)

It'd be nice if they could fix these perks to be even a bit more viable before they start poking at the other perks again

Only one that's semi useful is ace in the hole now that you lose your addons otherwise but even at that I don't think it justifies a whole perk slot, same with pharmacy

Aren't you guys on a city wide lockdown or something? I heard no one can enter or leave. Compare that with California, where there is literally so much money in SF there's literally no way they could slow down anything out here.

I'm in Ireland so I've no idea how it is in America since we've been just keeping up with our own cases and other country's travel bans, how bad is America right now?

  • Michael, I'm not good at killer so saving his power and using t3 at just teh right moment is a lot if fun.

Also Wraith because of how well you can close in on people before the notice

    New Game Mode: Pandemic Response

12 survivors are put into a match with two killers, the Plague and the Doctor. Half of the survivors are labeled as plaguebringers, and the other half are community leaders. Plague, by default, has the add-ons that increase infection time on items, and Doctor has the static charge that zaps other survivors that get near. Community leaders near the Doctor get a static charge passively, and plaguebearers near the Plague get an infectious aura passively. These effects stay with the survivor until they affect one other survivor. Getting shocked cures survivors of the infection, including shocks from the static discharge. Instead of working on gens, the survivors share a Healthcare Capacity meter that fills as long as survivors are infected, and regresses if four or fewer survivors are infected.

The point of this mode is to keep the capacity from maxing out for more than 10 seconds at a time over a four-minute timeframe. Plague and the plaguebearers win if the capacity stays maxed out, Doctor and the community leaders win if the time limit expires.

It would actually help so much if we had modes like this as events though if we're being real, would really help with preventing the gameplay from going stale

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1158583#Comment_1158583

Actually, quite a few times i saw discordance highlight 2 gens on both ends of the map. You can only protect 1 gen at best in those case

Fair enough I definitely understand that, just as a survivor of course you do have those games where gens go very fast, like this morning I actually felt so bad for this pig who was in a chase with one survivor the whole match and didn't even get a down.

But at the same time I also had a match where a deathslinger with infectious fright downed everyone in less than 2 minutes and I Michael who got everyone with 3 gens to go.

I just don't think it's fair with people being so objective over gen speed and gens "guarenteed" to go in the first 2-3 minutes as said above, it's VERY dependent from game to game. Doing something like extending gen repair time would be horrific especially in endgame, nerfing gen speed with 2 survivors working on a gen or making skill checks more difficult maybe could work?

  • "It's not like any killer could've done anything about this from happening."

Actually discordance works pretty well against this?

  • Ps4: Nurse, Clown, Plague

If I had to say absolute, it would probably be clown, havent had a match against him in so so long

Nope. Been playing a bunch of other things, though.

I can only stomach so much DBD at once and my limit has been getting lower and lower ever since the first Rift. Getting tier 70 of the first Rift burned me out of the game badly and I still feel those burns.

Man I'm not even considering trying to complete the rift, takes way too long for way little reward if youre on the free one and you're completely right that theres only so much dbd at a time you can stomach

  • @TAG said:

Despite living in a place where the virus is hitting decently hard, my personal daily routine hasn't been impacted yet, so my DBD playtime is likely to remain unchanged for the time being.

What country are you in if you don't mind me asking, completely understand if youd rather not say

  • Yeah that's exactly what i do, still annoys me a bit though because it's actually my playstation but I don't have much control over when I get to play if he gets to it first

At least it gives me incentive to get proper working on the stuff I have to do haha

  • Omg yes actually I love this so much, can we all start playing as plague or doctor please

  • @Cheers said:

Same here! My college has been cancelled, unknown date of return, so I've been grinding on DBD.

Proper me! Would be playing a bit more even if it wasn't for my little brother being off as well so still have to work around when he wants to play ps4 as well.

Might actually try to level all my survivors, only thing is acbh coming out soon but I don't really want to start a new game until after exams so being able to on and off play dbd matches here and there is also very handy

  • @CronaWins said:

BT seems to be working for killers with no terror radius, such as a cloaked Wraith.

Is this intended or a bug?

In otzdarva's latest wraith video he notices this as well and gives it a small test at the end and I think it may be for wraith anyway that it counts him as he's coming out of his cloak as terror radius?

Honestly don't take that as concrete though that's just the only instance I've seen people discussing it

  • I'm almost on the 4th page and play a handful of survivor games most days (do miss out though sometimes because of work, especially this month because of a few very busy weekends and a college trip for a few days).

I think it's wayyy to hard to progress through the tiers unless you sell your soul to it, I won't get anywhere near the later tiers even though I played almost daily

  • Unbreakable and Sprint Burst

So so conditional, I don't get to use unbreakable a lot of the time or sometimes I might still be exhausted when I do get a chance but unbreakable on it's own is so so satisfying that it makes up for all the games where it was useless, sprint burst is just the icing on the cake when you get up in close enough range to the killer

Would love to say tenacity and unbreakable but sadly don't have tenacity unlocked as teachable yet

  • Whats your favourite loadouts with killer and survivor now that you have pretty much full perk freedom?

  • Definitely a nerf even with the added speed boost, I never bring toolboxes for any other reason than potential sabo now but will still always choose medkit over toolbox

  • @yutycorn said:

It's immensely useful. Especially with the main building. If you don't remove a wall up there, you will Have to vault it, giving the survivor enough time to go around three times then they switch to the other window that has a drop, which would be the only one with counter if and only if the walls remain untouched. At least, this is what I have observed since it came out.

Will look out for this more, I honestly never even noticed it there because it hasnt been broken once when I've played survivor on the map

  • Agree, had a match where i brought toolbox with sabo add ons and breakout so i could see how well new sabo could be used, finished the sabo but got downed and killer still made it to a hook just down the street

  • @AshleyWB said:

We need Rasputia Latimore and some old granny person who has a perk that lets you clap the killer with her croc.

    THIS

Would looove a granny survivor, we have no even remotely elderly women but a lot of people complained about how many consecutive female survivors we've gotten in a row

Would love a Decisive Croc though hahaha

  • I don't actually think it's a bug, maybe just it's more noticable on killer because survivors are made to be harder to see (smaller etc) and survivors are actively trying to hide, that being said some survivors literally would take a hit and crouch in bushes or go round corners and completely disappear??

By the way I seldom play killer so I'm not good at all to begin with but I still thing that it's a lot more difficult to play that map as killer regardless of skill. Will play with higher brightness later and see what difference it makes but I don't think you should have to adjust your brightness settings for the sake of a particular map

  • If it's only very close proximity chat then I don't think it'd be bad to be honest, I'd really enjoy it and if survivors get mad at eachother or are annoying you can always mute. Think it'd be fun if it included killer as well to balance it out a little

  • I don't know about yamaoka but dead dawg I thought was fine because i only really play survivor but I just played two killer matches on it and it's far more noticable that its very dark for killer, very easy to lose survivors with dark clothes, even just say prestige ash or ace

  • @MikeyHRT said:

I agree my favourite is definitely The Pig, it just makes the game feel a lot more intense when you have a bear trap on.

I rarely get matched up with her though I don’t think she’s that popular as a killer.

Completely agree that she's such an underused killer, I barely ever get to play against her which is such a pity

Really hope they eventually give everyone their own chase music, it adds so much to the atmosphere and I also find it makes it harder to tell how far away the killer is than just with terror radius

  • @oxygen said:

Good Huntresses. It's a pretty unique experience and involves that back-and-forth where players have to feel eachother out when it comes to what sorts of hatchet shots they'll go for, how they handle pallets and more. Might be a bit biased there as Huntress is my most played killer as well.

Been warming up to Oni and Demogorgon as well. They might not be as different as Huntress, but they have their own little tricks to watch out for.

Love playing against a great huntress, dodging a really close hatchet is so satifying and really love when a huntress can pressure gens from really far away, not on my high favourites though only because I don't really get many games with huntresses that do that

  • @twistedmonkey said:

I don't really have a specific favourite but ones I find the most fun to verse are some of the originals and stealth killers.

Billy - Keeps me alert and thinking as a good player can come from nowhere and they have good map presence. It always feels like you are playing an engaging match.

Myers - The one which jump scares me the most. Seeing that white face stalking me always makes me feel uneasy. Guess I just love Myers in general.

Trapper - always aware of long grass and the feeling of jumping over a window into the unknown. I love randomly placed traps that catch you and make you think who would put one there lol.

I love most stealth killers as they make me look around constantly. I really like how they change up the game and remove just sitting on a gen waiting to hear the heartbeat.

Sooo agree with myers and trapper. Trapper makes it a lot more risky and tense when youre in a chase because you don't know where has been trapped and I love Myers for the same stealth reason as pig, and for how quickly the game can change with a well timed tier 3
