I stopped playing survivor altogether. Don't bother anymore and just play killer if you feel like playing DBD.

They have DS. It does it purpose. SWF atleast won't be that useful to the team while abusing DS.
Ds wasn’t even needed in SWF to begin with. They usually coordinate the rescues and always bring BT so they get safe unhooks. And in the case of SWF they can actually TALK to each other (surprising right?) to actually still make use of DS. “I Bt you and you run away then tell me where you are so I heal you” problem solved.
Solos don’t have anything. They consistently get ruined and it has reached an unplayable point. I mostly played solo and after this update they forced me to give up on survivor entirely. I can only play killer now. Which bores me extremely fast because of how simplistic and easy being killer has become compared to before.
“JuSt sToP PLaYinG ThEn”
I want to play the game I spent a lot of money on (dlcs, cosmetics, skins) with a fair chance to have a good time. If I have to bring 3 other people to have a chance go have fun, the game has chore issues that a perk doesn’t fix, but at least helps.
Fix your god damn game Behaviour and stop patching it up.
-
It’s definitely happening and it was so obvious. I really don’t know who these developers are listening to, but they have proven time and again they neither know nor they play their own game. This doesn’t affect SWF whatsoever. Only solos.
You wanted to change DS? this definitely wasn’t it and the perk is useless.

So what your saying is you dislike it because your less likely to have a 5th free perk slot essentially..not helping your case man
You really weren't the brightest at school. That reading comprehension is severely lacking.
Or is it that you ignore the actual points on purpose because you can't counter argument anything?
In any event, survivor isn't worth playing anymore unless you're in a full SWF group. So I'm guessing people will switch to killer if they wanna keep playing.
-
Honestly, just stop playing solo. Only play killer or SWF if you have a group.

That is false, it's anti tunneling hasn't been touched, abuse of the perk has which is what you seem to have liked about the perk frankly
If scratching your eye removes DS entirely instantly, and still gives you the same old effect with 50 seconds timer, nobody will carry it because it's useless. And because it's useless and nobody carries it, you can already predict as a killer the survivor you just downed doesn't have it. Because they will likely not have it. This removes the caution with picking up just unhooked survivors and brings what we are already seeing, people getting tunnelled out of the game with 5 generators left.
And this is all solo experience of course. SWF will still BT/ coordinate rescues.
Let's screw the literally weakest group of Dead by daylight even more, people who play solo. Sounds like that's what we needed.

The nerf only affects ds abusers..ds still serves its purpose
Not really. It serves no purpose now. The only teams that can still abuse it is SWF. It exclusively affects solo survivors. They have nothing to help them not being tunnelled now.
-
Are you just gonna forget how they also ruined solo queue even more by destroying DS and allowing being put out of the game within 1 minute on 5 generators left? They screwed everyone with this update.
People who exclusively play killer clap to the ds nerf without realising it doesn’t really affect SWF much which is the real issue, it mostly ######### solo. There’s a saying, Clap when your neighbours get #########, and get ready to be next.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
Survivor is the easiest experience in this whole game. Even in solo q it’s a breeze most of the time with how many chances and such survivors are given. Now that DS is nerfed and you have 99 extra chances instead of 100 it needs to be buffed. Ridiculous. DS was used to just stun killers and get their time wasted. It was intended as an anti-tunnel and never used that way. Now it’s more like how it is suppose to be.
“Joining a game you can’t play is how it’s supposed to be”
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:
Well, new DS does address being tunneled off of a hook. As long as you bring unbreakable & soul guard with it to prevent slugging. That's pretty much all it does, though.
Just kidding. DS never addressed tunneling. A 5 second stun is not going to make the killer say "Understandable, have a nice day."
That we can agree on. It didn’t really prevent anything. It only made you slightly reluctant to pick up the person who just got unhooked and maybe motivate you to get someone else.
Now however, that’s gone. And the key aspect about this is, it just does nothing to SWF. The true issue about the people who can really abuse it isn’t addressed at all with this nerf. You think this affects SWF how? you can coordinate everything. BT+ fast healing further away or just use that person as bait while he chases. To then simply safely heal if the killer gives up.
This was just a pointless blow (once more) to people who play solo.
-
Which is why this DS destruction needs to be reverted back. It doesn’t harm SWF -at all- It exclusively targets solos. All this is going to do is widen the gap even further between solo queue and SWF.
-
@Soulslayer618 said:
I see a lot of people not understanding the post so Id like to chime in real quick
- with an obsession on the survivor side the killer will be more cautious of DS and as such is less likely to tunnel
- not many killers run obsession perks and without survivors running it the game often doesnt have an obsession
- if theres no obsession the killer doesnt need to be cautious and can tunnel freely
and on top of that DS is now what I believe it should have been all along, an anti-tunnel perk, but the fact that theres no obsession in most games lessens the pressure on the killer as a whole which makes it harder for all the survivors
(at least thats my understanding of it)
That is definitely a big part of it. The perk is useless now, and it serves no purpose. Hence nobody will carry it. If nobody’s carrying it, it destroys both the active and passive use of it.
This will slightly bother decent SWF, but they can still abuse BT or coordinate their use or DS.
But solo queueing? Unplayable.

It will allow you to stun the killer if you were tunneled off hook and haven't had the chance to heal yourself or start work on a gen.
If you are constantly running into the issue where you start to self care off hook and then the killer comes back, then learn to move away from the hook before self caring.
There's no issue with the perk, you just can't abuse it for free 60 seconds of immunity.
It won’t stop any abuse, it will just switch over the abuse. Now, you will be put out of the game immediately and it will especially ruin solo queue even further. Good SWF teams will just coordinate themselves to BT + run away while solos will have nobody to help them, and now they can’t even use DS for at least some backup. You have to realise this affects SWF in a small proportion, and further contributes to the miserable experience of solos even more. And it was already the worst experience you could have in the game by far. Especially in red ranks.
As far as me and the people I sometimes play with go, we’re sticking to playing killer and the very occasional SWF. Solo is over.

If you are trying to unhook someone else, you aren't being tunneled.
Reading comprehension is important when trying to have a meaningful conversation. In no moment I suggested trying to unhook in this situation.
I used it as an example to explain why the current DS is not the rework it needs in order to prevent tunnelling. It doesn’t serve the purpose it’s trying to achieve. It simply serves no purpose now.
-
Which, going back to one of my other threads, ties back to the same point: You have 2 options in this game now. You either become a killer main or play SWF. Solo queue is dead now.
-
@Astrian said:
There's nothing that prevents tunneling off of the hook.
Except Decisive Strike, the perk literally designed to prevent tunneling off of the hook.
It used to. It doesn’t anymore. You just have to tap *anything* for it to disappear which will get triggered in many occasions unintentionally. The game even prioritises using self care if you’re injured over unhooking someone.
After this nerf DS is completely useless and serves no purpose.
-
@Crowman said:
If you are truly getting tunneled immediately off hook, DS will still be active. Nothing has changed in that regards.
Who are you trying to fool? you literally TAP yourself even by mistake (medkit, self care) and DS is gone. Considering how wonky and broken this game is, you will lose DS right away most of the times even when you're actively trying to keep it by doing nothing. After this nerf DS prevents absolutely nothing and is good for nothing.
The change needs to be either reversed or adjusted to go away only once you're fully healed again.
-
This is absolutely mandatory that it's reversed. Everybody is getting tunneled out of the game with literally 5 generators left. Now higher tier killers can remove you without any worry or caution.
-
Well here's the thing. In this game you have 2 options. You either get yourself a SWF squad and play with people you can rely on, or you get shat on. You can't play solo queue.
Or you play tryhard killer that are top tier and bring strong builds.
Solo queue is a nightmare, as is trying to play chill and "have fun" as a killer.
-
@Firellius said:
This game cannot be the single most frustrating and unenjoyable experience. League of Legends and Overwatch exist.
Jokes aside, solo queue is a nightmare and emblems need a bit of reworking. Some killer emblems are too unforgiving, while survivors rank up too quickly and easily, creating this general bog around rank 4/5 where half the survivors think it's a good idea to unhook someone 2 seconds away from the killer, without BT or DS.
Precisely. I think a substantial part of the problem is emblems and raking system. To play killer you kinda have to tryhard and sweat whereas for survivor you can breeze through the ranks as long as you're not AFK. This creates huge tryhards vs incompetent actual rank 15 disguised as rank 4s.

Yeah, solo can be hell sometimes, once I start getting rainbows or boosted reds I switch to Killer because while I dont mind dying but crappy matches are boring. When I start getting rainbows as Killer then I close the game and call it a day.
I suppose is region dependant but there are some hours of the day this game is completely unplayable thanks to extremely poor matchmaking and disparity in skill.
It does become unplayable. At this point, I can only do 3-4 matches as a survivor very sporadically, even though I've been playing this game since it got released in 2016, and I really like the concept of the game, it has reached a breaking point. You simply can't play it if you're not in a SWF squad.

The matches I’ve been playing have all looked like this. I keep getting survivors that unhook me while the killer is still around. Survivors that go down in less than 20s to the killer. It’s been 15 matches so far and every single one has been against a purple rank or higher killer when it’s clear I am NOT that good yet. This ain’t it at all.
This match specifically I was unhooked in the basement while Freddy was right outside the killer shack. None of them had BT, so I was just getting farmed. Every other survivor also decided to spend their time self caring in corners of the map instead of doing anything else.
Oh, well this looks like 90% of my survivor matches. Difference is I'm red rank survivor, together with rank 20s and 10s who really have no clue what's going on, versus red rank sweaty tryhards. Repeat this all the time.

When I solo I run Kindred for the sole purpose to give randoms a warning if the killer is face camping me. They still stand there waiting for the killer to move instead of doing gens. As I said before. It doesn't matter what buffs or information we give them if they aren't going to use it.
Which is why solos need different kind of conditions compared to SWF. And the ranking system needs to be completely overhauled, so those Claudettes who touch 1 generator, farm 1 person, break 2 bones and then hide for hatch keep deranking into oblivion and stay at rank 20 where they belong. Rank needs to actually mean something.

“Generally, there's hardly enough time to even look for totems. 10 seconds spawning in a match someone is already injured, 5 seconds later they are down. The killer is usually applying pressure to two.”
This is probably my biggest problem when playing survivor, as it’s usually some “hero” with a flashlight doing NOTHING other than follow around chases, and subsequently giving the killer free slowdown (because it’s TWO survivors not doing gens), and free pressure (because guess who the killer is going to chase next after they down the survivor they’ve been currently chasing).
PSA: For god sake DO GENS. If a down occurs NEAR ENOUGH to you, fine, attempt a flashlight save. But please, PLEASE, stop wasting time just chasing chases.
But that's 99% of survivors. You might find a few who belong to the 1% of randoms who actually play efficiently. But it's like becoming a millionare. It happens, but it's so rare it might as well be a distant fantasy.

Solo sucks, yes. A 4 man swf sucks, also yes. However unless the killer is running a meta killer+ perks hardly anything beats 4 man swf that knows what they are doing. The difference is solo can always improve or find friends to play in a swf. No amount of git gud will do against a competent swf unless they make mistakes for the killer to capitalize on.
Buffing solo isnt the answer. Any buff you give them can also buff swf making the real power role even more powerful. Besides you can give solo all the information and help in the world. If they lack the talent to utilize it nothing will change.
Well, most of the killers I get are meta with meta perks. And right now DBD has quite a few very strong killers to choose from. It's not only a couple. They buffed many of them to very powerful levels.
Still, you get paired with extremely incompetent/unexperienced randoms.

Again, not true, I win as a Solo Survivor all the time.
It is definitely way more difficult than playing SWF, but it sure isn't impossible. I think buffs to Solo Q are necessary, but to say Solo's have no chance is just incorrect.
Definitely not my experience. "Impossible" is too radical of a term. You can't also say "A killer can't win against a good SWF, it's impossible". Hardly impossible. But you can definitely argue about trends and what happens more often than not. More often than not solo survivors have very little chance against any decent killer. But that's not the point. The point is, regardless of winning or losing, it's a very unpleasant experience.
-
First of all I appreciate the general chill and respectful mood of this thread, I really am fed up with petty fights and highschool attitude in these forums/games.
@Kilmeran said:
To be honest, this is what happens for Solo players playing a game that is heavily designed around team-play. Overwatch suffers the same issue. As a solo player, you can have the game of your week as far as your own performance, and one or two other people not pulling their weight on your six-man team can force a loss no matter what you do.
It's the reason I refuse to play Overwatch without the Friends & Family team anymore, and why I will never again play solo survivor in DbD.
Unfortunately, since no one I know gives a lick about DbD, I ended up never touching survivor again and being a pure Killer main. Which led to burnout, and I haven't touched the game since November-December. The most frustrating match in Overwatch isn't as frustrating as a lot of killer matches in DbD.
True, there's an inherent component to cooperative games, in which you need to rely on other people's competence and experience, and your individual and personal contribution only goes so far. That's just how it works and DBD is no different. However I do believe there are some things that could be done to make life a bit easier for solo survivor in comparison to SWF. Knowing who's being chased (obsession, for example) isn't a bad feature, but it's by far not enough. Things like basekit Kindred and maybe in game buffs/penalisations based on whether or not there's SWF involved in the game or not. For example the moment you join someone in a SWF team there's a cap to how many DS/BTs or other very strong perks can be used, maybe max. 2 per team, items, also repairing speed (it could be nerfed for SWF teams, buffer for solos, or similar ideas). They could introduce game conditions that specifically affect SWF and solos separately.
Example: Limit of DS/BT/Syringes = 1 of each every 2 survivors. So in a 2 man SWF max 1 of each, in a 4 man SWF 2 of each. (2 DS, 2 BT, 2 syringes top per team).
Repair speed in general (or skillcheck dificulty, or number of generators, introduce X): a % slower every SWF member in the team. If there's 2 SWF you repair 5% slower. With 3 SWF you repair 7% slower. With full SWF gens are 9/10% slower.
These are quick ideas, not mandatory. The point is, they could introduce very specific mechanics to balance the matches.
Make it easier for solos, because it's much harder to begin with.
Make it harder for SWF, because it's much easier to begin with.
The more SWF, the harder conditions.

It's not always about fun, its about balance.
Let's look at it on the other side. Survivors always have one guaranteed strong structure, being shack, and depending on the map, have a couple of more safe loops or jungle gyms
Ormond for example, has Killer Shack, and 3-4 strong jungle gyms around the map to use, which are relatively safe for the survivors. (Unless its Nurse or Spirit, but they're just stupidly strong)
Now playing Killer against a survivor who uses these strong loops is "not fun" at times because if they're pretty good at looping, it takes so long to down them and sometimes can be even throwing the game as all the other three survivors are doing generators.
If survivors have safe or strong loops/structures on a map, then they need to have unsafe/weak loops to compensate, that's balance and fair to both sides.
Weak pallets and structures /= empty areas and dead zones. I understand 1 empty corner in a map. I don’t understand 40% of a map being empty.
-
@Zaytex said:
I don't want to sound nasty but it sounds like you find these maps boring because they're more fair to the killer and don't have thousands of safe pallets like Ormond did.
There should be some part of the maps that are more dangerous to go to, it gives the Killer an opportunity to actually down you unlike old Ormond which was one giant loop, whilst most of the pallets now are unsafe and can actually be mind-gamed
There is a difference between “fair” and “pointless”.
what aspect do you find fun about a -completely- empty area with literally nothing to use and nowhere to go? What’s the thrill? Holding W and clicking M1?

The title of your post is "Do you even play your game?" and then your first line is "It's a stupid question because you don't." I answered your question that they do, and publicly so you can see how they play and their opinions on the bugs/glitches - which they do talk about.
The Devs don't get to decide what is/isn't worked on. Higher ups want to see money flowing into the company and as long as people continue to purchase broken DLCs they are going continue pushing out new content. There was an announcement prior to release that it'd be unfinished and still people bought the DLC. Be mad at those that continue to buy announced unfinished content that pads a CEOs bank account, not the Devs that have higher ups making them focus on new content over game health.
Again, I will say it once more in case I didn’t explain myself well enough the first time. I don’t care if they stream their game.
My question is if they play their own game, because if that’s the case, they must know better than anyone the content isn’t ready to be released. Or that the content that is currently released isn’t working properly or doesn’t have enough quality. So, when I ask “Do you play your own game?” The question must be no, because otherwise they’re knowingly releasing broken content and they must answer for that.
I don’t care they talk about their opinions on bugs and glitches. We do that. Their job is to fix it. It has been years with some of them.

I don’t care if they stream their game. I don’t know how this is so difficult to understand for you, costumer of the year. What I want is the game to be fixed, stream it or not.
I want them to release FINISHED and WORKING DLCs, stream it or not.
I want them to slow down new content and fix the already present content that’s been needing fixes FOR YEARS, stream it or not.
Watch their stream, become a subscriber, moan their lawn. I don’t care about that.
This new DLC is a shame and the state of the game in general is a shame.

I think you're missing the point of what some of these comments are saying. I fully believe that the Dev's are great people, and truly care about this game.
But the higher-up at BHVR as a company probably pushed this chapter before it was ready. Investors, someone higher-up on the ladder. This chapter is 100% unacceptable in terms of bugs, but instead of attacking the Developer's we need to make it clear to BHVR, the company, investor side, that we - the consumer - want them to take their time. Attacking the Developer's does nothing.
You demand explanations from those you know. I demand explanations from the developers I know and see on the streams , the community managers. Those in contact with the community. I can’t communicate with the CEOs because I don’t know who they are. And I don’t know their names. And I don’t think they even read this. If they don’t play their own game much less read their own forums.
I as a costumer don’t care if “tHeY StrEAm tWiCe a WeEk” if the game’s broken.

The devs do play their own game and some even stream it. They all seem to really care for DbD, and want the best for the game. Which is why I don’t think it’s the devs fault for chapters being released earlier than they should’ve.
If they play and care for their game they do an excellent job and making it seem the opposite. Not only have they not fixed all the issues the game has had for years now, they won’t even fix the new DLC before releasing it at this point. They knowingly release broken content. They said so themselves in the patch notes.
I don’t care if they stream their game, they’re still selling us broken content.

If what you say is true (I don't know) then they obviously should fix that. But in the meantime, since that's not the case with computers, bring back the penalty for PCs if they disconnect while loading. You might get 1 unfair disconnect-penalisation here and there, but it's not going to happen often. And if it does, you should really consider fixing it.
