I simply can't find any flaws with Slingers power.
His chain travels at the exact same speed as a fully charged Huntress hatchet. Meaning both are equally as hard to dodge, it's based on prediction. And Slinger can't even get you at a lot of places that Huntress CAN! So what is the problem?
-
Also Nurse's pallet breaking animation got changed and the new one looks AWFUL.
-
No, because then survivors would bum rush hooks and you'd be unable to heavily punish it anymore. I don't camp often, usually I camp when I see multiple survivors coming for the save or a bunch of scratch marks around the hook.
Sometimes, as soon as I hook a survivor some idiot tries to unhook them immediately and I get a grab. Was I camping? No. Do they deserve to be hooked themselves for farming? Yes.
-
Oh and I forgot to mention, how at some even SAFE pallet loops you can harpoon a survivor, and walk around to the other side then swing JUST before your chain breaks and you'll usually hit them unless they have god reaction time. It's so satisfying.
-
Very fun to play, and has probably some of the BEST 1 on 1 chase potential in the game. Running him around isn't easy and most survivors don't have the knowledge of how to properly play against a Slinger. But then again, most Slingers aren't the best either.
He's kinda slow, that's what holds him back. Small maps are great for him because he can patrol much easier but a map like Ormond or Autohaven can spell gg if the survivors just stay seperated.
-
Out of all the killers, why did you decide to choose Doctor? I'm not upset or anything...I just feel like it would've been y'know...Trapper. The cover guy.
-
Dead by Daylight handles the way custom resolutions work in a very odd way.
A lot of games actually compensate for if you're using a different size monitor and adjust your FOV based on it.
-
Most of these are pretty awful.

No it doesn't. It just creates an explosion.
Explosions have nothing to do with regression as per the perk technician which negates the explosion but does nothing to the regression.
The 10% regression is exclusively tied to the actual act of a Survivor missing a skill check
If you say so.

What's that got to do with surge?
Surge isn't a missed skillcheck.
Surge acts like a missed skillcheck. Therefore applying the 10% on top of the 8%.
-
When a survivor misses a skillcheck it regresses 10% by default.
-
Any killer who uses basic attacks to down survivors, it's a very good perk. It regresses the base ten percent and then eight percent, so 18% and that's PRETTY good.
As far as on killers like Billy, Huntress, and sometimes LF, it doesn't proc nearly as often and you won't wanna run it.
-
Depends on the kind of OoO user that I face. If they're good, and I see them doing gens I have pretty much no choice but to try and get them out of the game. Because they're doing the objective and likely relaying to their team what I'm doing.
If they're just trying to bait me into a chase, bodyblock, and do things like constantly flashlight I usually just ignore them.

Count yourself Lucky. If Freddy was removed it would force some of the bad killers down a lot of ranks. He's quite literally the most lame brain killer ever. He require no skill to play. No knowledge about looping to win chases. Has addons for slowdown and while Forever Freddy was nerfed. You can still heavily slow the game down. I still see a heavy amount of hookcides against him much higher than any other killer.
On the other hand. I hope you get your Quinten.
Can we not make this about balance or whether or not Freddy is annoying? All they are saying is that they want the character. So no, they shouldn't "consider themselves lucky" and quite frankly, there are a lot of GOOD killers who play Freddy too. I've also survived vs some of them. Just like any killer, he's susceptible to doing gens really fast.
-
The Valentine's cosmetic is my favorite. That or the Black wedding dress to let the survivors know they're probably dead.
I like to run BBQ, Shadowborn, PGTW, and I'm All Ears.
But with all the bugs lately and the awful rework...I've started playing a lot more Slinger.
-
Usually within two weeks things get rolling.

The funny thing about this theory is how badly it failed when Starcraft II used it. That game became so hard for casual players because Starcraft II only balanced for the best player, that players left Starcraft II in droves. You can't balance for the best players or you exclude all other players and end up with the same problem that Starcraft II had.
Imagine if you balanced Dead By Daylight by the Depip squad. Every killer would be getting 4ks against all survivors except the BEST SWFs. Can you imagine how quick Dead By Daylight would be a waste-land.
That game theory is an amazingly bad idea, you balance for everyone. If there is something that only good players are using as an exploit, then nerf that but you can adjust game play for the best players without screwing everyone else.
Explain how games like R6:S, TF2 (when it did get updates), and CS:GO all balance around top tier players then.
-
Unbreakable is ridiculously powerful. As stated above, one survivor using it can cause you to lose the whole match.
Same with DS, getting hit by it can cause you to lose right then and there basically.
-
Just an swf meme squad.

Core design is fine.
A few niggles for me is that the heatbar does not go down the second you dont use your chainsaw, it should be immidiate.
The fact you can overheat the chainsaw by just repeat clicking the chainsaw button, aka starting it but not even doing anything will heat it up massively and that just makes no sense.
It does not reward good/effective plays, imo downing a survivor should cool the chainsaw down for X percentage (lorewise the blood of the survivor hits the chainsaw cooling it down a bit)
Other then that im fine with it, im fine with killers needing to but also having the, choice, to either use the chainsaw to get around fast OR to down someone quick but not both all the time, you have to be mindful or how and where to use the chainsaw.
Blood isn't very cool. That wouldn't be a good explanation.

Not the best perk in the game when you get slugged, or get no use out of it.
Unbreakable. Almost always paired together.

I guess we will be waiting. But in my opinion DS at current state is the STRONGEST perk of the whole game. Not any killer perk comes even close.
DS is the best perk in the game.
But I'd definitely say some killer perks definitely do come near that level.

@Pok said:
Do we have to start again on ruin?
My opinion is that for old ruin:
yellow/brown ranks = Extremely effective, survivors can't do a gen with ruin
purple/red ranks = almost useless, veteran hit almost all skillchecks, or got rid of it very quickly, knowing most of the totems spots.
This was litteraly an anti new player perks for me. Not counting people experiencing lags on skillchecks, and the randomness of totem locations. But every excuse is right for crying again on devs hating killers. DS was nerfed a lot.
DS never got nerfed, really.
I'm fine with that, but as it should be said, it was reworked.
It's still just as strong as before, if not stronger sometimes.

@[Deleted User] said:
Why do players still insist on looking at the Ruin change as a nerf?!
Its impact isn’t felt early on in the match, but against a skilled killer that is excellent at managing their gen pressure, new Ruin is a total nightmare by mid game if the totem is in a difficult to find spot. Losing so much repair progress so frequently each and every time someone is chased off a gen is leaps and bounds more useful to the killer than old Ruin ever was.
"GeN pReSSuRe"
It's such a bad argument, and a meme at this point. You can have multiple downs, a few hooks, and excellent play, but still have 4 gens pop in like 4 minutes. Reminds me of this.

Exactly.
”rUiN nErFeD” and yet it’s still a frequently used perk.
And if survivors didn’t find it threatening they wouldn’t bother cleansing the totem.
Survivors cleanse any totem even if they aren't being affected by anything.
"if it glows, it goes." It's why Haunted Grounds works so well by itself.

Worse, what if a new killer gets hit with a deliverance/ds combo 10 feet from an open exit gate
Guess you should've just hooked that guy earlier in the game 4head /s

Full article on Ruin:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117488/designer-notes-doctor-gatekeeper-hex-ruin
Short version:
We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:
- Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
- The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
- Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.
So what about if a killer new to the game eats a DS?

Survivors good, killers bad.
I'm a 50/50 player. So it doesn't bother me too much since I get to enjoy both sides, but it still does concern me.
-
Billy isn't really an M1 Killer. He has a secondary attack insta-down that can be hard to use vs good survivors.
-
Honestly yeah...I do want that..
-
Making survivors even slower wouldn't change much. What clown lacks, is any lethality at all.
He always has to two hit survs (without a certain...not very well liked add on), and can't deny safe pallets really.
-
You can see them, but they can't see you.
But as stated above, the perk lights up letting the survivor know where you might be.
-
Why not just buff white ward to duplicate your item if it's knocked outta your hand?
-
Step One: Torment Survivor
Step Two: Hook Survivor
Step Three: Send them to a cage, to avoid their DS.
Step Four: listen for notification and go find them, for an easy kill.
In my opinion...he's kinda got some gross ways to kill people.

There will always be people in general (survivor and killer alike) who almost always fail to see the big picture when they get nerfed. Unfortunately, these people tend to be the loudest. Like when people complained about the map reworks. Or the Ruin rework. Or the fast vault rework a long time ago.
For some reason, people feel as they themselves have been attacked when there were clear or potential flaws in a design and that needed to be reworked. Survivors did it with instaheals and BL. Killers with Nurse and Ruin.
Well, with Nurse the devs actually did a horrible job with her.
-
Edward Elric, even if it's just a standalone DLC. But there is a lot of people who could be the Killer.
-
God I remember the update where at anytime you got blinded or pallet stunned you'd drop the survivor no matter what.
-
Usually I just kill myself on hook if one of my teammates gets mori'd.
The reason I wait until someone actually gets mori'd is because it could be a different secret.
-
I just did something ACTUALLY toxic, but the survs were good sports and said it was funny.
I pretended to farm as Tombstone Tuft Myers. It went about as well for them as you'd expect.
-
My preferred way of revenge is farming as Myers with a secret tombstone and tuft combo.
-
Nurse.
-
Through your platform as stated by the first reply.
These people shouldn't be attacking you directly, it's a little toxic.

So everyone told me not to play the wraith because he was terrible and this and that, but I had a quest so I was like all right whatever time to just play what I was told is like one of the worst killers and get it over with. Fast forward like 7 hours and 35 levels and he's my highest level killer other than Leatherface.
But here's why I'm posting this discussion. Everyone said the race was terrible but I'm pretty sure I just found my favorite add-on in the entire dead by daylight system. So I unfortunately do not remember it was called because noob here but I was paired against like two reds and two greens and I killed everyone but one of them and almost killed the fourth one but he hit the hatch with his sprint right as I popped him once. I had these two add-ons one of them, It made it so when I was stealth I moved like 400 miles an hour, but the really really good one that I liked a lot was this crazy add-on that I thankfully used a black hand for I'm glad I did, that like highlighted the generator auras depending on their progress. That with the movement speed I was like maximum pressure from the very first time they decided to touch one of the generators.
I'm a noob. But how is that not the single best add-on in the entire game? It's like the legion perk but always on and regardless of how many people are working on it, mixed with BBQ but not chili because while I can't see the people as soon as I hook someone I can turn around and be like okay let's see that one right there there's someone working on it or at least someone was.
So again, am I just completely inexperienced and being stupid here? Because that sure feels to me like the most powerful add-on in the game.
You probably used a Purple Windstorm and a All Seeing Spirit.

I don't think BHVR has admitted as much, but it seems like for whatever reason, the Freddy license holders are the least interested in adding or changing any cosmetics for their characters. They won't even let BHVR unmelt Quentin's face, I doubt we'll see any fun new Freddy cosmetics any time soon.
Also, Freddy isn't even on Switch apparently.
Wes Cravens Estate own the character I believe, who knows how easy or hard they are to work with.

Why would you ever DC over Object 😂 To each their own... If I'm slugged, tunneled, camped, or Huntress is using iridescent Head or whatever I'll DC. I'd personally just have more fun waiting 5 minutes and taking a depip.
Object on Midwich allows you to just run forward to win.
Killer won't really ever catch you except after a ridiculous amount of time.
Object is one of the most annoying and strong perks in the game, especially in SWF. Maybe you're like rank 15 tho.

20 killers in the game all with unique powers that the in game descriptions dont always cover fully, 134 perks to learn and work around, mediocre tutorial, looping optimally, map knowledge, when to drop chases or go for saves, very toxic and entitled fan base, and the countless little details. If you truly believe that the "cringe FNAF and Fortnite" kids will pick up this game and get through all of that then I admire your optimism.
Im sorry, but this game just doesn't have a steep learning curve lol. It's not a hard game at all.
I don't even like Fortnite, but those building mechanics have more depth than most killer powers.

Are you sure you have to tap faster on controller? If this is in fact true, it's a bug and should be reported.
Do you have any numbers on how fast you actually have to struggle at all?
How many space bar presses per second you need or whatever.
-
I think I'll probably DC everytime I have to face them.
