This. I've gotten hit from things that clearly did not come close to visually connecting. It is frustrating to be running a have a killer hit me when they should have missed, allowing time to get to a pallet. Now it feels worse than ever. Might honestly sit the Lunar Event out this year cause I can't deal with this
-
As survivor I wish I had known that crouching and walking everywhere wasn't always good
As killer I wish I had known the tracks were scratch marks and not actual footprints
As both I wish I had known more about teachable perks

Thanks for the help. Where I'm at, it's already the 10th. I guess where the devs are, time is way behind. My time is way ahead. Hopefully when I wake up the updates in.
Studios are in Canada I believe so that is what they go off of. It is 10am on Feb 9th here. Canada is an hour or two behind us

Typically I would say Clown but I'm hoping the changes will fix him and not make him more annoying (if it does that is my answer). Assuming it doesn't though it is a three way tie between Legion, Hag and Ghostface. Perks are whatever but it is the power that is the reason why these are my choices
Legion: Still genuinely unfun to play against at least in my opinion as it normally comes with an anti-heal slowdown build which is miserable for many involved. When he enters frenzy you are pretty much screwed as the lunge and autolock always work against the survivor and the frenzy lets him ride your rear end.
Hag: Honestly this one might be the worst depending on who is playing her. I never see an intermediate Hag. Typically a new one or an experienced and very toxic one. While I can move to the next game it is frustrating to see a Hag place all her traps around you when you are hooked and know the percentage of you making it 10 feet from the hook are close to none. Her high tier add-ons are really annoying letting her teleport anywhere on the map and not even notifying you that you triggered a trap. Unlike trapper she has all her traps at all times and can set them down and replace them with no real consequence of having to get them again. Her perks are based around totems which makes her play protect the totem all game and couples with the annoyance of the power. On small maps she feels overwhelming and on large maps it feels like she doesn't exist half the time.
Ghostface: Where do I start? His power is infuriating. Especially the detection portion of it. It feels like you are constantly getting spotted through cover unless you have something to reduce detection range in which case you then have to breathe down his neck to get him out of shroud. His ability to stalk you in a chase is annoying and that isn't what he was meant to do making him another Myers. There is not enough objects on a normal map for him to be the true stealth killer that he is. Instead you see him coming from a mile away, and if you don't, there is always spine chill and premonition. With add-ons Ghost face is mildly irritating, but against a team of survivors who know what they are doing a Ghostface can be stomped out in under 5 minutes. He is kind of a joke for survivors at this point.
Bonus mention (as to why I don't like Clown): His ability seems cheap. Yeah I know I'm gonna get the people who say it's because his ability actually causes a problem for survivors, but that isn't why. It seems cheap to be able to throw a bottle just in the general vicinity of a survivor and still have them slowed down so much that you could be 2-3 tiles behind them, catch up and get the hit off. When it comes to Clown's bottles there really is no counterplay. The slowdown makes windows almost useless and the only thing you have is pallets. Depending on whether the loop is safe or not you might still get hit. Eventually you will run out of pallets anyway

It's kind of funny how I just got done reading the summary of the dev stream where they said not to whine and complain but instead give civilized feedback, and then this thread is under it. This is why they don't show us this stuff early. You don't even have your hands on the change yet and you are already complaining how it will ruin the game. The majority of players are against it? Oh sorry I didn't realize you spoke for someone other than yourself. If you pay attention you can find many threads from people on both sides talking about how these perks were heavily abused hence the reason why they are changing them. You really just asked someone if you should leave the game! Can you not think for yourself? This is the reason why we can't have nice things cause people on both sides just whine they are losing their crutches and threaten to leave or review bomb the game. If you want to leave over a change like this then good riddance because only a troll would leave over something this stupid.

?????????????????????????????
Is someone using hack in an game, ez just win
and in the same way, someone is still going to be facecamped so the problem will still remain
Comparing hacking to camping of any sort is stretching super hard there bud. Someone will still be facecamped? Cool, so if it isn't you then do gens so you can live. Otherwise take a loss and just go to the next game. If it is you, evaluate what you did wrong in the chase and how you can improve next game

People who camp do it because they want to, they dont care about pips/bloodpoints.
Obviously. But how often do you really see a experienced killer facecamp? It isn't a frequent thing.

Can't verify time zones. I live on the East Coast US and I'm pretty sure we get the update today. We typically get them around noon here. I've heard tome will be tomorrow and Lunar event is confirmed for the 11th
Edit: Confirmation that the tome will release the 10th with Lunar Event following the 11th

Everyone eventually makes mistakes during a chase, and eventually you get caught..unless the killer is insanely new and or bad, but if we're on about any sort of experienced killer then that is unlikely.
When you get face camped, do you blame yourself for not running fast enough? Or do you blame the killer and say he's 'mad' or say he's 'trash'
It's easy to say 'just get better' but when you're put in situation it's a diff opinion.
Am I happy about it? No. Nobody is. But I just move onto the next game. If someone can grab me then great, but otherwise I spend that time looking at what I did wrong and try to improve on it next game. Half the problem is exactly what you mentioned. People get mad at the killer instead of realizing that it was also their mistakes that got them caught. Also, if an experienced killer is camping then how experienced are they really?

That doesn't fit the killer main agenda on here. As both Survivor and Killer I have gotten lobbies with low rank Survivors that made the game basically unwinnable for the 1-2 higher rank Survivors thrown into the mix.
I doubt anything will be done about it, but there is definitely less threads about it. Just tired of deranking because of the terrible rank system
-
I have this experience frequently with Legion or Clown. Not because I always die or because I'm scared of them, but because they are so unfun to play against. So I know your pain. It's that feeling like you can't do anything. That no matter what the killer is going to get you. It never really goes away
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
LOL if players are doing that they are dummmmb
even if your mori'd off hook right away your still wasting the killers time and thus helping your team, also unless the killer is camping you that probably wont happen so you killing yourself on the off chance it does happen again is just you being dumb.
That's why I really don't understand it. The chance of you being killed right off hook are slim to none
-
Probably because his perks are pretty garbage.
-
Facts. I would love to be able to do something in game while waiting instead of sitting on my phone the entire time
-
Gonna be a while till it gets fixed and don't surprise me if they lose players over it too. Also you actually run lightborn on Hillbilly? That's a first. I recommend Enduring or Spirit Fury for pallet diving

The problem is if we open the exits she will die. That is the issue. We would then be working with the killer to get him a kill by opening the exits because he isn't going to suddenly stop body blocking her when we open the gates.
Yes but you weren't intentionally getting her killed. You were completing your objective which was to survive. The only person killing her here is the killer himself. At this point the other survivor might just prefer you to leave so they can move onto the next game without a DC penalty. Just report the killer for griefing/unsportsmanlike and hope they actually use the reports like they say they do. Only other advice I can offer is use this as a lesson to never corner yourself.

Is that so? That happens to my friends as well, so I really didn't think it was a thing just for me.
The way my luck seems to go in games like this is I can get everything except what I'm looking for. I can get purple add-ons galore which I don't want but go 20 bloodwebs at level 50 without a single ebony mori or iridescent add-on

The game shouldn't just be Jump scares though. That's the point and only 1 or 2 killers can actually jump scare while the rest can only chase
Like others said, stealth killers are relatively weak as is because of perks like Spine Chill and Premonition so adding more with those perks in the game would just be purposeless as those perks would become meta. I would love nothing more than to have the horror aspect of this game back. Being terrified as a Wraith uncloaked in the distance or hear the Hillbilly revving up for a charge across the map just like when I started. Good times.
-
I use small game when I'm running alone. Gotta stop that NOED from popping up somehow
-
As sad as it is, the horror aspect fades over time. There is nothing that can be done. As a survivor gains more experience they will become less and less afraid of the killer. There always is a few good jumpscares here and there courtesy of Myers though
-
@Bwsted said:
The solution is simple. Before the trial, provide the survivors with a copy of your rulebook.
Don't worry, it's a given they'll gift one of theirs to you as well.
Wouldn't a rulebook suggest it is made up rules of a way they should play? That's not what this is. The game tells survivors they are supposed to escape alive by any means, not suicide on hook. Much like it tells killers to kill by any means, not stand in a corner or disconnect because you got upset by something the survivors did. Really I see it as a refusing to participate in normal gameplay thing done out of pure selfishness. Most times someone suicides they could have helped their team in the endgame and still possibly gotten out alive

@Damarus said:
As much as I don't condone that behavior, Ebony Moris are "ultra rare" just as a form of classification. They are next to brown add-ons as odds of appearing.
You must have better luck than me. I got about as much chance of getting a mori as I do winning the lottery
-
@KateMain86 said:
Sorry but I cannot sympathize with the OP on this. You talk about losing a rare offering when you have a perk that literally deletes any item a survivor has if they get hit and unable to recover in a very short amount of time. Survivors wanting to avoid a mori is not a bad thing because they lose items and depip in most situations when they do this. Its not just you suffering a loss. They do too. Besides all that, moris deter a lot of people from playing survivor in this game. I can't think of anything more unfun and annoying in the game than the way moris were before the change. Even with the change, they're still not fun to play against because it often encourages tunneling to recently hooked survivors which is another big problem in the game.
You don't have to sympathize with me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. To be fair, I play both sides equally and while I don't like the mori, they are way less annoying now to the point where I just accept it because at that point I was going to die anyway. I personally never agreed with the change to Franklin's Demise. I just think that was wrong. That being said I hardly see it ran much anyway even in red ranks with crossplay. They might depip, but the killer still gets cheated out of a mori when this happens which in my opinion isn't right especially now that they've been changed. As far as the tunnelling, now Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time are even better deterrents.
-
Kindred. As much as I hate not having my fourth perk, this goes a long way at making sure I stay in the game longer
-
It will normally work against the newer/worse killers. Once you get the hang of things though you will start stomping them out. Playing too aggressive as a survivor is a good way to turn a winning game into a 4k for the killer. You learn the tricks of the trade fairly quick and you'll find they don't quite like it when their bullying doesn't end up like they planned it. You'll definitely have some disconnects in your future

We all have that one game where our teammate decides that urban evasion is the greatest gift to survivors and does nothing by crouch around. That one teammate, most likely, will cost you the entire game. This one act of stupidity screws over the rest of the team, leading to their deaths.
But when you get a team of competent individuals who know what they are doing and are facing against any non-top tier character, you are most likely going to win. Even if they are semi-competent, you could still squeeze out a win there too.
This creates what I like to refer to as the "Great Red Rank Divide". If you have a competent team, the killer is going to be in for a bad time. It doesn't help that many killers are reliant on survivor mistakes to use their ability. If you don't, the Killer will probably mob the floor with you.
That is why when I see the high kill rates I realize how badly there needs to be a training mode. Many survivors, myself included, manage to sneak into higher ranks without learning the skills we need to learn. We are idiots, not because of our own doing, but because we get pushed past our appropriate rank. It doesn't help either that Killers have so little time to work with that even a chase going on for a little too long can cost the killer the match, further pushing us out of our depth.
This combination of no real good training options and how easy it is to pip as a survivor leads to survivors, collectively, being idiots when it comes to many aspects of the game.
You are right. I've invested a lot of time into this game. I look forward to red rank in hopes of good matches. But with the ranking system it is hard to do that. Much like you said, it is easy to rank up in any other rank. As long as you do a gen or 2, get a safe unhook and run the killer you are golden. But the second you hit red rank what was once a pip is now a safety pip and what was once a safety was a depip. The problem is this isn't explained to you in game so many continue with their "amazing" tactics like Urban Immersion around the map because it always pushes them up in rank, unaware that they are damaging the game for their team.
I think a training mode is a great idea! At the very least we need a more in depth tutorial. Teach survivors how to loop, teach them about each characters teachable perks (this could be an optional section), teach them about the status effects, teach them about how different actions payout different emblems, how it gets harder to rank up as you continue and FOR THE LOVE OF DEAR LORD make it known this is a team game. Everyone should be forced to go through those before they hop into public matches.

Just a fun topic where you give your ideas for potential memey perks that could be as dumb and gimmicky as you want to make it!
2, 4, 6, 8!
While standing within 4 meters of a generator that is being repaired by someone else, press the Active Ability button to perform a dance cheering on your teammates. Each survivor working on the generator gets a 2/4/6% bonus to repair speed and Great Skill Check success zones become 8% bigger.
Vanishing Act
Press the active ability button to cloak yourself from the killer for 10/15/20 seconds. This action is canceled out when working on a generator, hiding in a locker, or healing another survivor.
Vanishing Act can only be used once every 90 seconds

The problem is slightly big shouldn't they be putting all of their efforts into fixing it? Many people I've recomended this game to don't like it from the moment I mention the gigantic amount of DLC and the Battle pass
That isn't really a reason to not like it. Unlike other games this game does not force you to buy the battlepass to feel like you have a fighting chance. The issue I could see is some killers are definitely better than others and some have really good perks. My answer to that if you don't want to spend money is shrine. If anything, I'd say the most offputting thing is the grind like you've mentioned. I have over 2,000 hours sinked in and still only have 5 characters on survivor prestige 3 and 1 killer. Only 1 of those survivors has almost all the perks and the 1 killer has all the old perks as of (I think) Stranger Things Chapter. There is way too many perks in this game now for either side even after the 4 perks per bloodweb.

I literally only unhook someone if it's going to be a safe unhook there's no reason to put both of our lives in danger and risk getting them downed and hooked again. Unless I have BT and am willing to take the hit and/or down for the unhook
If you are about to go into the next state anyway, I'd much rather be pulled off and have a chance to run/use DS then go into the next phase

I feel your pain on that. If they refuse to do gens while you are running then as messed up as it might seem, bring the killer to them and try to get the killer agro onto them. That way you can do a gen
-
To sum this up pretty quick, no you are not just unlucky. This has been an issue for a while and still a pretty big one. That being said, I've seen some garbage rank 1 survivors. You will eventually learn how to adapt to a rank 1 playstyle. Until then, try your best and don't give up. Billy is still top tier. You'll get em in no time!

Clown: Absolutely no idea what they have in mind for this but hope he is less annoying
Leatherface: remove some of the charges or decrease the speed burst he gets from them. Drastically decrease his collision zone for his chainsaw (for objects) and remove the speed debuff he gets while charging
Trapper: Trapper now starts with all his bear traps. The odds of escaping a bear trap are now higher. Stepping in a bear trap inflicts the mangled status effect by default.
Hag: Reduce the number of her traps by 3 and reduce the trigger area of traps. Make it so if you were moving when you teleported you continue moving, not teleport into a standstill and have to click the movement button again. Increase the base range she can teleport to her traps.
Huntress: Fix the hitboxes of the hatchets. Remove 1 hatchet from the base maximum. Make her reload time in lockers slightly faster
Oni: Oni now starts with 3 blood fountains around the map in random locations similar to Plague's corrupt purge. They immediately fill his Demon Fury. They won't refill until all the fountains have been used, forcing the player to use them strategically. He can still earn his demon fury through blood orbs like before. The consumption for using a demon fury attack in increased while consumption for the dash is decreased. This way Oni doesn't feel like he is without power the first part of the match
Pig: She still has 4 bear traps she can apply whenever. Instead of having different boxes there is a set box for each person similar to Freddy's alarm clocks. Each person must complete a series of skill checks every 2 seconds for 30 seconds at their designated trap box. This action will not have to be completed in one go. During this time The Pig is unable to see any survivors with traps on their heads with aura reading perks/add-ons. Trap timers stay the way they are but no longer decrease while running similar to the mend status effect (this will prevent the issues where she will follow you in crouch but it isn't counted as a chase). The Pig is not able to see the locations of the boxes. Her dash remains the same.

I've been away from competitive gaming for several years now. I've played at the highest levels in a few games, so I'm not unfamiliar with antagonistic bantering and stuff that usually comes from young, emotionally reactive males engaged in competition. But either things have changed dramatically in the last 10 years, or DBD just has an especially toxic playerbase.
I have about 60 hours under my belt in DBD so far. I'm definitely not a seasoned player. My survivor is purple rank now, and my noob killer is rank 17. But somehow, it seems I often get paired with teams of red survivors when I'm playing killer and red killers when survivor. I've noticed this type of behavior at all ranks, but it seems especially common in the red ranks.
For example, last night, I played as spirit with no perks or add-ons vs a survivor team consisting of a rank 1, rank 2, rank 8, and rank 9. After I beat them pretty handily, the rank 1 and 2 filled the chat with insults.
Rank 2: Nice spirit shitter
Rank 1: dogshit
Me: good play at end
Rank 1: playing spirit. lmao
Rank 2: spirit lmao
Rank 1: holy dogshit. you are a terrible player. uninstall and #########
Rank 1: do you know how easy it is to play spirit and not tunnel?
Rank 1: its really not that hard. ur just a terrible player
Me: I just started playing this game a week ago and crushed your team. I don't even have any perks or anything. I can't be that terrible. be happy with the blood points you got. Happy New Year. have a good night.
Rank 2: shut your spirit ass up. trash player. absolutely horrible.
I just left the chat after this. Perhaps I should just ignore the chat window and close the window quickly after each game in the future. I feel like most other online games don't have this chat feature, maybe for good reason? Does everyone else experience this type of stuff on a regular basis? Seems to be a pretty widespread and accepted behavior in this community. I know several major gaming companies have made anti-toxicity initiatives to try to address this behavior in other games. For other companies that haven't, I wonder the most effective way to curb this behavior.
You are probably better off just turning off the chat. People are turning off their private messages on console because of this as well. I've been told to die plenty of times just for playing well. Some people are just sore losers.
-
The main issue with the objectives is that is is a race against the clock for both sides. As a killer you will eventually run out of gens and as a survivor you will eventually run out of pallets and hooks. Adding extra to either side could throw off the balance and make one side too easy. We have something to "kick the killer". It's called Decisive Strike. What you just described was old DS which was one of the most unbalanced things in this game at it's time
-
There are a few decent content creators/streamers in this community, but most of them are either entitled to the point where they think they should win every game (and if they don't it is always some BS excuse) or they are just extra salty for no reason.

This game is designed that the killer always wins the chase. You just cannot ‘don’t get caught’ for very long. Closer to 45 seconds in high level play.
Can run a high level killer for way longer than that. Utilize your tiles.
