  • There is a easy solution to this issue. Don't get caught. Improve your running skills so it isn't you sitting on the hook.

Funny thing is I am in high rank, the matchmaking sucks regardless of rank

I have seen bad survivors in high rank but it is a lot less common with crossplay now. Sounds like you got some bad luck

  • He definitely isn't the weakest killer. Far from it. I get where they are coming from as I find Clown annoying to play against myself. However I don't think it's right to shame you for playing optimally

  • @Healthore77992 said:

Throw pallets early, windows are his biggest counters, lockers too, hug the walls, if you find yourself in the open try to run around objects, but that's on you already, also headon counters him. I very rarely lose against him.

Wish I could say the same. I always get him on open maps with 5 windows and maybe 10 pallets

  • @Squirrel_Thicc said:

Every time I find out I'm playing against oni I wanna delete my whole life so.....

I don't find him that bad. Just be vigilant and stick to tight corners while he is trying to one hit down

to be honest there's not much you can do imo. haven't gone against any leatherfaces ever since I got back to playing, so I don't know if pretending to drop a pallet and then continue running the loop if he charges up the chainsaw still works, since he is faster now. I'll keep an eye on this post in case someone says something valuable ^^

Based off what I've played against it doesn't. Many will just rev it up before the pallet since the speed tokens make up for lost distance and if you drop the pallet they'll eat it. Then you have less pallets on the map and his quick charge time and speed puts him right back on you

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Find tight corners and areas with a lot of obstacles that LF may accidentally hit with his chainsaw.

If you're asking for tips on how to juke Leatherface in the middle of an open field, you can't. Don't expect to. If you're in a dead-zone run early and find that Vault/Pallet.

Believe me I try. But his collision seems smaller than ever recently. Sometimes when I run early I still feel like his chainsaw catches up

  • My top 3 are as follows

    1. Tie between Leatherface and Clown. Both have very little counterplay and are just very aggrivating
    2. Pyramid Head. Only applies if the killer knows what he is doing. That hitting through walls stuff is infuriating. Especially when I've unhooked someone and he downs them immediately through two walls
    3. Myers. No skill killer. You look in a direction and hold a button for free one hit down. No stealth involved like Ghostface. Also one of the few killers where their power punishes me for my teammates being bad

that's very interesting! especially with the ruin + undying meta it can be useful. I'll try it out.

Exactly. I've saved my skin many times because I found a Devour totem we didn't know existed

  • @PleaseBuffFreddy said:

if you're in a deadzone run around a rock, there's always a slight chance he might bump into it.

I know that. The issue with that you said yourself. "Slight chance". Might just be me but I see very little counterplay for him

  • May I make a tip if you like to be a team player? Detective's Hunch. Been using it recently and 9 times out of 10 all the totems are broken by endgame. Plus you can normally find a bonus chest along the way

  • I personally have a tendency to not drop pallets even if I know it would make me safe. I go for the risky plays and test that Ace Main luck to keep just one more pallet on the map. This is because I know what it's like to run without pallets so I always make sure there is some for others. There is actually times I've ran away from a loop to save the pallet even though I knew I was going to get screwed.

  • Ever since they changed the flashlight I've been meaning to get better at doing the saves again

Twins are/is the weakest killer (so far). Only "strength" being camping isn´t really a strength. Its just the more simpliest tactic a killer can apply. A rank 20 killer with no experience will camp. Doesn´t mean he´s strong or good. Twins would need a huge buff to give the killers more chances to play out their strengths.

I agree. But they need to do something to balance the doors. Apart from that I'm all for a buff because a killer shouldn't have to use camping to be viable. Hope they get it sorted out soon

Yeah I play this game with friends a lot more than I do solo, so I do play survivor more than I do killer, but despite experiencing that same setup when I'm playing with my friends, the fact that I'm playing with friends helps to make it more bearable.

Experiencing this uneven playing field when playing solo, however (regardless if its killer or survivor) is something that I don't ever care to experience again. I'm perfectly comfortable never playing killer again until this matchmaking nonsense is sorted out.

The issue especially with playing at night is that the queue DOES actually start out with your rank but as it takes longer and longer to find a match the gap gets bigger and bigger as the game frantically searches for your opponent(s). This leads to rank 1 killers against a rank 20 survivor or vice versa. The issue is night time is when many sit down to play because they are busy throughout the day. I get what you are saying about SWF but some of these people I was playing with weren't as experienced as me and they weren't ready for red rank so we got our rear ends handed to us thanks to game matchmaking

  • I have the free upgrade on PS5. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one then go with that option. The graphics look amazing (without 4k as well) and the frame rate is much less than PS4. Still get it from time to time but that is your best bet

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Possibly the least fun killer to face on the entire roster by a wide margin. They're only effective when they're as annoying as possible. The last time they missed the mark this badly on a killer was OG Legion

That's what I was thinking. Based off what everyone is telling me it sounds exactly like Legion on release. He wasn't fun to play against when the person was using him effectively. I honestly believe if the DC penalty wasn't in place more people would be leaving matches still

  • I'm gonna try to be helpful here, but ultimately you don't have a lot of options.

The main thing is like you said, do totems. You will learn totem placements in time, but even then sometimes gens must be your priority. There is perks to cut down on the time in takes to find totems such as Small Game and my personal favorite Detective's Hunch. You could also use a rainbow map if you have one. Apart from that it's the only tips I can really give you. It's a perk that has needed changing for a while and should probably be reworked all together but don't hold your breath

  • Had this happen the other night. Me and my one friend were at the start of green and my other friends were in yellow/white. We got a red rank one clown. Wasn't a fun experience. Reasons like that are gonna cause this game to lose players

  • I've seen it a decent amount. I don't run it because I like other perks but most of my friends run it. It especially helps with the newer survivors whose screams are ear piercing. I can't tell you how many times I've caught someone just because their character was too loud

  • I'm waiting for an option to disable killer autolock. If I had a dollar for everytime I missed a hit because autolocked messed up...

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/216314/how-bad-are-the-twins-to-play-against

Facing them is not as bad as playing them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1844647#Comment_1844647

Oh yes, nerfing them will surely contribute to their popularity among killers...

The doors deserve a fair balance. No other killer can watch both doors simultaneously unless rng puts both doors on the same wall. No killer should be able to watch both gates when they are across the map from each other. You act like I just said nerf their power.

I agree with you. If I'm being chased by thr killer for a long time and you haven't been hooked yet then I'm sorry but you best believe I'm bringing thr killer to you. Everyone needs to play their part in order for the team to survive and that includes being hooked.

Thank you. I understand running the killer isn't for everyone. But if I get camped, chased immediately after unhook and manage to run him decently both times then someone who hasn't been hooked needs to take aggro so the runner can get a well deserved breather. Too many games I've seen where one person dies and nobody else has been near a hook.

  • @DwightFairfield said:

Now in solo que I'm not getting exclusively bad teammates, I'm getting t-bagging junkies who do everything in their power to make the killer miserable, and then when they get hooked they dc or kill themselves on hook.

So now I can't laugh at ridiculously bad plays anymore or be aggravated when I die on first hook 5 minutes into the game cause the Meg thinks that crouching makes them invisible, I can just be upset that I wasted my free time playing a match that would be over in less time than it took to que into it in the first place.

And before you ask, no, it's not all console players, got a good chunk of PC ######### too.

    This happening to anyone else?

Randoms are just getting worse for this game. You gotta get discord or something and find a group. You'll never make it in solo queue anymore unless you are in high rank

  • @TheStabbiNAngeL said:

Is this bad? we're allowed to play as we want, sounds like a normal game really. There's also ton of perks that help counter these types of strategies.

It is a way that you are allowed to play, but anything gets annoying once you've experienced it too many times in a row. For something like slugging which is already unfun, it gets stale even quicker. There isn't many perks that counter hard slugging. Unbreakable is a one time use and No Mither is a permanent handicap. The killer will just redown you in a couple seconds.

  • Might be a terrible person for this but if the killer is only going for me and you haven't been hooked yet, you best believe I'm doing whatever I can to give him a new target. You can be saved later, I can't

  • Killer: Billy

Perks: BBQ and Chili for finding survivors and that cross map chainsaw, Ruin to slow the game down just a little bit, Enduring for those pallet dives, and the last perk always varies though I'm fond of Sloppy Butcher, Nurses or Save the Best For Last

    Add ons; None normally

  • @IronKnight55 said:

It's because most Twin players will slug and camp the entire game. A lot of people find that unfun and boring, myself included.

Same. I've noticed an increase in that in general since I came back. It is one of the main reasons why I left. I play this game to have fun and when that is all my matches consist of you better believe I'm not having fun

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

They're not very strong, but they are notorious for slugging with Victor. Camping the hook using Victor to attack the rescuer preventing them from doing the unhook, and then Charlotte comes to life and downs them.

That's the two main tactics that I've seen in my games that make them a pretty miserable experience to face. They also present an extreme disadvantage at the end game if you are the last survivor and hatch is closed. Charlotte can be positioned at one exit gate panel preventing you from touching it, while Victor guards the other. Pretty much guaranteeing you are going to die no matter how far apart the gates are.

Wow. That door tactic seems kind of unfair. Their should probably be a range limit on how far Victor can go

  • I do it to the people who are just genuinely toxic. You wanna act like your hot s**t? Then you reap the consequences. That being said, head nods and crouch spam shouldn't be taken as seriously as they are.

  • Do people enjoy them? No. But apart from stealth (which isn't very viable) there the only option for getting the killer to screw off. You waste their time to the point they give up and help your teammates at the same time. If there was other ways to get away from the killer then maybe it would turn out different

  • @Huge_Bush said:

There are many things in the game that cause me to go ugh out of frustration, but at the top of the list is getting to face Sir Fredrick decked out with every progression slowdown perk and add-on twice in a row.

    What makes you go ugh?

Most recent thing that frustrates me is when I get the same 3 killers over and over when there is 22 of them in a row. Also can't forget idiot teammate and fat shaming spots

  • I'm normally fueled by the urge to have prestige 3 for all my characters. Unfortunately my progress has been brought to a halt as the frame rate is so bad on console I can't play

  • @xEa said:

I mean honestly the game was not that long, it was longer then usual, but they exaggerated a lot just to make a random, sensless point.

And yes, the DC was only for last guy so he can get hatch. The guy on the hook was dead, but hatch was not opening fast enough... without DC tho.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, both sides have a tendency to do that when they don't get their way.

  • This should be something that doesn't need to be pointed out. But unfortunately so many people who play this game believe they can do no wrong. Both sides are toxic to an extent and everyone should bear that in mind. Before you stop to talk ######### you have to consider the other person's point of view. Like this scenario here, I see both points of view. They disconnected because the game was taking entirely too long, but if the guy was about to die anyway, what's a few more seconds so the match is finished fairly?

  • Best: Decisive Change, Leatherface Rework, Launch Freddy, Rift Lauch and Old Events

Worst: Infinites, Pallet Vacuum, Old Legion, Face camping (before directional unhook) and last but not least THE UNHOOK LAG

Looks like I'm gonna have to learn even more I suppose, god man this has more things to consider than any other game I played it's like a juggling act with 10 balls

That it is my friend. But every game you play you learn something new for the next one! If you ever play survivor feel free to add me. Don't know my ID off hand so I'd have to log in. But my tag on PS4 is crazewtboy9747

Never has a truer word been spoken

I'd rather get my rank destroyed by red rank swf pc players to get back to the rank i belong than be stuck in a temporal loop of winning and losing and forever being sentenced to rank 4 1 pip

Eventually you will hit a point where you can consistently get three to four kills a game. But you have to put in the effort to practice

  • same broken hitboxes with it on. I really think whenever they try to fix it they just make it worse

  • Hate to break it to you but you get used to it. I could have told you that red rank PC players are much worse than red rank console players.

  • Mind giving some context other than a screenshot? What was said or done by the offender? If they messaged you through PS4 or Xbox messages then obviously behaviour can't do anything. They don't control the platform. Just the game

  • To give a simple answer, it's usually just one of two reasons: Either the person is a douchebag or they had a really terrible game before yours. The long answer is that some people are just naturally toxic people and want to ruin your day, but most people are taking out their frustration of being bullied from the previous game on the survivors of their current game. On rare occasion it is just the fact that they want to ensure they get to use the mori before people kill themselves on hook or disconnect.

  • Don't know how I feel. That's always been something I see both logical sides. If the killer is camping you because it's endgame and you are hooked by the door, you shouldn't have a free escape regardless. However, I also feel as though it's the killers fault for not pushing the decisive out sooner or getting the survivors on death hook.

  • Gen times are fine where they are. The worst thing the devs could do right now on the survivor end is increase the gen times. Holding M1/R1/RB is already boring enough for 80 seconds. There is no need to make it even more boring. They either need to add in another objective, or dial down on the map size. On smaller maps the gen speed is fine because killers can pressure gens better. The Decisive and Unbreakable perk combo should be fixed and Decisive should deactivate upon getting in a locker. Aside from that it is fine where it is.

  • I feel as though this is a bait thread, but it's hard to tell these days, so just in case you are serious...

If you are going to complain about perks, at the very least take time to look them up. Also this game is far from being in favor of the survivors. Sure there are a couple broken combos such as Decisive and Head On or Decisive and Unbreakable but it's the perks that could use minor tweaking, not giving survivors a nerf all together. As someone who has been playing since release and plays a fair amount of both sides I have never seen the game in more favor of the killers than it is now. Nurse, Billy, Spirit and Freddy are free 3 man games as long as the player is at least mediocre, Killers consistently get hits that shouldn't connect, Killers have more perks than ever to completely bring the gen repair to a grinding halt, The number of pallets and windows were reduced significantly, Tiles were changed to make loops easier for killer, Infinites were fixed (which actually needed to happen) and to top it all off Killers still have broken add-ons that can end chases in 30 seconds as well as an offering that can immediately remove you from the game after first hook.

And BTW I can consistently four man against SWF groups with Billy, Michael, Oni, Huntress, etc.

  • Definitely been an increase in people trying to farm. I can understand how it gets annoying when you'd rather play a normal match, but I don't think a report is necessary. Just do the gens and leave

  • Sounds like lag. Doesn't surprise me either. I've noticed a high increase in lag spikes the past few days. May I ask what platform you're playing on? Only see people mentioning lag on console. PC seems fine

  • Like others said, this implementation would need some balance changes. Especially another stage to the hook. It's bad enough now in higher ranks with killers who run builds to slow the game down. You are consistently battling to get a singular generator done. Imagine that with a slowdown at the beginning.
