Try getting shelter woods 3 times in a row. Which happened to me.

Well the hell is up with that map lately? It’s popping up at an unusually high rate now and I can’t stand it. It drives me nuts how damned boring and sparse it is.

  • I’ll take Midwich over Shelter Woods. That’s about all I can say about it. I hate how dead the space is between the gates and how easy it is for the killer to move back and forth.

Regardless if the maps are free to okay on, people here are missing the point. RCPD was paired with this chapters release. Many new players bought this game with the intent to play the new map whether they new it was free or not. BHVR made a lot of money off this release because of that. This isn't a rework but a brand new map which we haven't since silent Hill. BHVR has turned off map realms to fix issues from their updates before. That fact that this new map wasn't thoroughly tested prior to the PTB and afterwards shows how inept they at certain aspects of their game. There is no way capcom is happy with how this is going right now.

Capcom is a company not a person and incapable of emotion. As long as they get their licensing fee I doubt anybody there is giving the situation a moment’s thought.

The map still disabled from release, I paid 12 € a day one to not play it once, it seems legit. Give us more blood points at this point. This situation is disrespectful to the people who support you, buying the Dlc on day one.

As others have pointed out, unless you are completely new to the game and got a great deal on both the game itself and the RE DLC, you didn’t pay anything for the map. Maps are free and open to all players. If they weren’t then we would have an awfully hard time populating anything other than the junkyard, swamp, and asylum maps. I wouldn’t be able to play most of them even though I have all of the survivors and characters because I’ve been buying them individually with cells or shards instead of purchasing chapters using real money.

He really shouldn't give them a speed boost unless they are actually getting injured.

They also need to fix the zombie AI. Countless times i have seen a zombie walking with it's arms out like it is chasing someone, then i go there and a survivor is behind the zombie running the other way. They don't even attempt to turn around, they just put their arms up when a survivor is in the area. I think they should at least face the direction of the survior.

There’s nothing wrong with the zombies AI. They’re supposed to be braindead. They’re ZOMBIES. The reason why they were going the wrong way when you arrived is because all we need to do is break their line of sight by going around a rock and run the opposite direction.

that shouldnt be possible, in the latest patch notes they said that map is only back for custom matches and the map offering is disabled

The patch isn’t even online yet. We still have a few minutes.

    I hope not. That's a terrible map

It’s an exact replica of the Resident Evil police station. It’s freaking awesome.

  • It’s still early days with tons of noob nemesises, but so far I’m not having a horrible time avoiding his tentacles. Sure, I get hit, but many times it’s easy to avoid by faking window jumps, or even taking the vault and taking a sharp left. I think he’s pretty fun especially with the zombies.

  • Totally, and totally worthless to use in game without add ons, which it won’t have unless you bring ace in the hole. I still say broken keys should be made to be able to open blocked doorways… without add-ons. Every other item can be used without add-ons. It makes no sense to have that be the case with keys.

I would love for them to change zombies so that they could navigate through windows with an animation and everything!

Last night I was wounded and hiding around a corner using IW as Nemesis passed me and I thought I was safe, but then a zombie appeared at the window right behind me reached through and downed me. Bastard!

  • @PNgamer said:

Give me one reason to play with theese add ons... siriously

    Iridescent Umbrella Badge:

12 seconds exposed is ofc not enough....specially if survivors to far away....the only thing this add on can do you know where the survivor is...not much more

    Shattered S.T.A.R.S Badge:

Zombies moving fast....ok but my zombies can half way across the map...not even near to the gens and if zombies are not near to the gens...survivors will still do them.

My opinion about this add ons ? Dont use them...waste of Bloodpoints

the add ons for zombi speed and tetect range are ok, maybe the 15 sec stealth too but rest .... no commend

I’m not sure but I think zombies must spawn within a certain range of survivors, so if you find that everybody is focused on the opposite side of the map, destroy them so they’ll respawn closer. It’s the only reason I can think of why they’re spawning behind unopened gates.

Zombies are completely underrated. There’s been numerous times when they’ve ruined the game for me. I like them a lot.

  • @xerav said:

He is middle of the pack (his power goes through many smaller walls or barricaded windows).

I just dont think you will see him in red ranks alot. His first tentacle hit giving a survivor a movement speed boost is the main problem imo. Even if you hook someone they will just go for a vaccine after and your back at zero (and as we know redrank games are very short so you will most likely run out of gens before they run out of vaccine).

Also once people start to dodge away from Nemesis (unlike PH`s Power which is 8m range + addons ~10m his is only 5m so most of the time you could avoid it by running away from Nemesis at a loop.

It doesn’t take long to realize that taking the vaccine is a bad idea and should only be done when the killer is already distracted. If you’re going straight to the vaccine after a hook you’re only letting him know where you are.

  • I LOVE the zombies. Don’t get me wrong, they’re always a pain in the ass when I come up against them. But they always make me laugh, even when they’ve downed me through a window. Even when they gang up on both sides when I’m just about to fix a gen. But ESPECIALLY when they spawn on the other side of the gate! They haven’t gotten me yet because I always hear them first, but it’s always like: are you kidding me? I thought I only had to deal with Nurse doing that, lol!

  • @nutmilk420 said:

I'm sure the killer mains would love it considering boarded up walls generally create longer loops or located beside window vaults making them safe.

I can really only think of 2 maps this would be helpful on, the one boarded up room in Glenvale and some rooms on midwitch.

I was thinking specifically about Gideon meat plant which can be a maze of dead ends depending upon where they spawn. No doubt when used liberally keys would help the killer destroy loops, but there are a lot of times like there or springwood or lampkin you can get stuck with nowhere to go because a back door is boarded up.

    I have this one:

Dull key item become Dull blade add-on (Brown)

Skeleton key item because Skeleton blade add-on (Red)

The only Key item is Broken key

    • Dull blade instantly open a chest (save 10sec, pretty good for Brown). Then lose the add-on
    • Skeleton blade open hatch (requires 10sec to open). Then lose the add-on

I could see an instant open chest as an add-on that would use up almost no charges. My only reservation was making that a key’s primary purpose, which would be weird, bringing a key in to open a chest to gamble upon getting something that you could have brought in anyways.

  • Anybody else care to comment about my idea?

If I wanted to put words in your mouth, I would be doing so instead of asking for clarification. If you can't let go of your cynicism and sensitivity to perceived micro aggressions though, then I don't have any reason to continue with you. You do not get to choose what I mean with my words.

Just because you think the intent is to deliberately "get a rise" out of others, doesn't mean somebody is doing so. How about you bear that in mind in the future, huh? Maybe not every person on the internet is a big bad guy out to get you?

Now this is just the classic “I know you are but what am I?” Approach. And TOTALLY instigatory. It’s funny that you just cannot see it. But again, whatever. Moving on. This thread was about the idea of opening boarded doors with a key, NOT aura reading (or opening chests).

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2294085#Comment_2294085

The fact that your very first sentence is suggestive that I'm at all "looking for a fight" shows where your mind is at. I'm just explaining that I think there's merit in running a key for aura reading. You, on the other hand, obviously are just wanting to perceive things as a fight.

I like maps too, but the fact is they're almost never used unless in combination with a key. I can count the number of times I've seen a map in the past month on one hand. Funny thing is, I wouldn't even be raising any fingers, because there is no map I've seen in the past month. I think every item has value in running honestly, I just think it's ridiculous that just because a key wouldn't be able to be able to open a hatch anymore, that somebody would tell me that my idea is "useless," because like I said, I feel like every item, even if keys weren't usable on hatch, has merit in using it. It's completely fine that you enjoy using perks for aura reading (because I do too) but in my eyes, I just see being able to run 4 meta perks plus also getting aura reading from an item to be more powerful than going with aura reading perks and any other item.

I'd just much rather go against a bunch of survivors that are running Bond and Kindred than a bunch of survivors running DS/Unbreakable. I don't know where in what I said I indicated whatsoever that I was looking for a fight, but maybe you might want to check yourself before you go around insinuating things like that.

If you want to explain your point of view then you can actually frame ideas in a way that doesn’t put words into other people’s mouths. Phrases like “So you want to” and “You’re telling me” are instigatory and pointless unless you’re intent is to deliberately get a rise out of others. So please, bear this in mind in the future.

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2294026#Comment_2294026

Doesn't matter if they don't take that long when the item, at least in the idea I pitched, has two different uses. You don't have to use them for opening chests if you don't give a crap about chests, and just because you don't value aura reading, doesn't mean that people wouldn't find it worthwhile to bring for aura reading. That's literally the only thing I've ever brought keys in for, other than maybe giving them to a friend before I prestige because they're expensive.

Also, you're telling me that instead of taking aura reading from an item, and potentially running 4 meta perks like DS/Unbreakable/exhaustion perk/Iron Will, and having almost a temporary free 5th perk slot, you'd rather come in with aura reading perks and then a toolbox or medkit or something? You'd rather use your perks for the job that your item slot can accomplish? Yea, aura reading might not be unique if you account for perks and stuff, but you can get aura reading effects from your keys that you otherwise might not be able to get if you don't have those perks equipped or other items.

Sigh. I don’t know why so many people around here need to be so confrontational and begging for a fight. Whatever. I’m not “telling you” anything. So you use keys for aura reading. You’re about the only one because for everybody else using one is just nothing but a huge target on your back. As far as maps go, I LOVE rainbow maps. The only reason I don’t use them more often is because I don’t want to lose them. They’re a lot more useful than learning where your teammates are or the killer is for a few seconds. Perks do that job a lot better. Toolboxes make gen repairs faster. Med kits make healing faster. Maps make locating gens and totems faster. Keys? Meh. You can have them. The only thing they’re really good for is what most people using them for and that’s opening the hatch. Having them unblock doorways at least would give them a use that might interest people. Nerfing chests would just piss people off. My two cents. Take them or leave them.

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2293985#Comment_2293985

Because it would save you time in trials just like a toolbox maybe? Because you can still use it for aura reading maybe?

    @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2293991#Comment_2293991

So you'd rather take a "slightly increases thick mist" offering than an item that allows you to read the aura of the killer or give you a temporary Bond effect, like a 5th perk slot?

You’re not making any sense. You can bring both an item and an offering into the game. You don’t have to choose between the two.

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2293985#Comment_2293985

Because it would save you time in trials just like a toolbox maybe? Because you can still use it for aura reading maybe?

Opening chests doesn’t take that long, and again if you want to save time then bring an item in. Aura reading isn’t unique. Perks do that job a lot better. I don’t think anybody uses them for aura reading.

  • @Huff said:

I think it would just be a lot easier to make them be used on chests instead. I mean, the chests have locks on them that the survivors even grab and pull off. Why couldn't we just use a key to either be like a toolbox for a chest (significant speedup over several searches) or just instantly open one? Take away the hatch opening capability while we're at it, keep the addons and aura reading capabilities of it.

But what would be the point of that ultimately? Why bring a key into the match to open a chest when you can just grab something else from the bloodweb and bring that into the match instead? Speeding up searches or instantly opening them is not a primary concern in any match I have ever been in.

  • No other comments about my idea? Because I really do feel that this is a very good common sense use for keys.

  • Nah, becomes sometimes I get sick of being sent to the junk yard three times in a row and I want to be sure to mix things up for the forth. Of course, sometimes you get a competing junkyard offering and guess which place we get sent? I’ll give you a hint: not mine.

  • My first match ever was after dbd was free through PS Plus. Nothing happened. I don’t think I ever saw another person or even the killer. I did a gen, walked around a little bit, the gates powered up, I opened it up and I escaped. I thought, wow that was easy, and didn’t play it again for a year. Lol. I gotta wonder how much better I would be now if that first killer wasn’t afk and stuck with it.

Unless you're one of like three people, you die.

If you are one of those three, you turn into a super powerful monster (Nemesis, Mr.X, C l a i r e).

I thought that you could also morph into a licker?

  • I think its a little weird that you can leave while being infected. My characters don’t even cough all that often. I don’t even bother to take the vaccine until maybe when he is already occupied in hooking somebody.

  • I like distortion, it’s a great perk, but I’m reluctant at the idea of giving it potentially unlimited charges by healing, saves, etc. I don’t play killer that often but as is it’s already difficult to track down a person that’s using it. You want to conserve charges? Jump into a locker when someone is about to be hooked. Works for me.

  • Does undying still drain distortion of charges super fast or did they fix that? That was my big complaint when i last used it.

  • @Purgatorian said:

As long as the doors were open to killers too then that's fair. Both opening doors and the hatch should consume charges though.

I was just thinking about the times recently where I’ve spawned into an area of Gideon with only one escape route. With the new Nemesis perk that allows the killer to see exactly where you spawn this could be a potential death sentence. I really think that survivors should be given some sort of option to bust doors down and to me a key would make the most logical sense.

  • @joonofarc said:

why is this community filled with people that just constantly whine

    People take their fun seriously.

  • I’m still getting RPD badges in the bloodweb though. I wish I wasn’t because it just makes it confusing.

  • Keys should do something of actual use other than aura reading. And they don’t even do that very well. How about make them burn or melt the doors that only killers can knock down? That would be totally cool and far more representative of what a key’s function really is all about. I for one get really annoyed at spawning into a Game map alcove with no way to escape from the killer.

  • There’s been a few times when I found myself waiting for a match for a really long time. I’d finally notice, look up from my phone and see that I had never even pressed the button to search for a match, lol. Those were the only times when it has ever taken longer than 7-10 minutes, and it was entirely my fault.

Messed up part was there was one person hiding maybe 5 steps from me and didn't attempt to pull me off and escaped. Soloing sucks.

Oh, yeah, I don't disagree. Those matches when you can be Totem Hunter supreme and deny Devour Hope/Undying, Ruin/Undying, or Lord forbid NOED/Undying are great. But IDK, the amount of time wasted to do that in matches that DON'T have those things is just UGH.

Yes, it is personally very disappointing to have gone through the trouble of cleansing all 5 totems by yourself and the killer doesn’t even have the respect to bring NOED to the party. The nerve.

  • @bobateo said:

The thing is, Totem Hunter Build isn't that great. Small Game on it's own does the job very well without you needing to zigzag across the map. Detective's Hunch can be an amazing totem perk. Unlike Small Game and Detective's Hunch, Counterforce, on it's own has 1 good point and many draw backs.

Yes, you can cleanse totems faster, but at the cost of:

1.) Someone else getting to that totem before you do, meaning you have to hunt that third totem down hard. This gives the Killer free pressure.

2.) If you're racing back and forth across the map, you're not doing gens and probably exposing yourself to the Killer. Also gives the Killer free pressure.

3.) Adding Small Game to 'buff' the downsides of CF means you're giving up a perk slot for what is, more or less, a redundant set up.

The only way I can see that being useful in a match is if you're going to dedicate yourself to finding totems fast and cleansing them all. And likely because you have one of those 'cleanse an ungodly amount of totems to complete this challenge' deals. In effectiveness, Totem Hunter Builds are only good if the Killer is running Hexes AND none of your teammates are also running totem perks. Otherwise, they're pretty useless outside of also using Inner Strength for heals. But with Inner Strength, you're going to want to space out when you cleanse totems anyway.

But hey, hunting totems is it's own side game. If the set up works for you and gives good results. Run with it.

All of that is very true, but with small game you don’t need to focus on that long run to the other side of the map. It’s a good final destination but you should be looking for other pings along the way, too. Unfortunately you’re right, in most matches I’m finding the combo wasted. But man, when you can piss off the killer by cleansing his thrill of the hunt or undying just in the nick it’s totally worth it!

  • Had a round today that went really easy, popped five gens and cleared 3 of 5 totems all by myself. Killer nowhere really to be seen until there was only one gen left. Figured that Bubba was probably Insidious lying in wait the entire time in the basement and got impatient and ventured forth. Was opening the gate when he got somebody and dragged him to the basement. I said yeah… pass. And escaped. I was the only person the survive that round because apparently there are players that still haven’t gotten the memo that Bubba in the basement is a no-win situation.

    Don’t feed the beast.

Spine chill doesn’t need a nerf. That’s phrasing it wrong. The “Undetectable” status needs to be made to mean exactly what it literally says: “undetectable”, or at least by using perks, items and add-ons. It may just be a semantic distinction but I stand by it.

And I say that as a survivor main that uses spine chill in every single match.

This chapter doesn't feel special to even someone like me who absolutely loves RE, who plays those games daily and more than even your game which I also play a lot. You RUINED it. It was your only opportunity to do it to. I doubt you'll do any reworks to make it feel good. It is garbage and it'll always feel like garbage. But WHY did you decide to crap on it? Everyone expected a good chapter since licenses are usually handled well no matter what, well now even licensed chapters are even save from you bull! Get your ######### together please! This is the 4TH CHAPTER IN A ROW RELEASING WITHOUT A ######### MAP! What are you doing!? You can't save this shitfest of a chapter that was supposed to be your biggest one. Every time a killer has stopped me from cleansing using thrill of the hunt it has always been within a hair’s length. He won’t have enough time against counterforce unless he is close by.

Counterforce + Small Game IS the counterplay to NOED, and all other hex perks. Welcome to the new meta: Lightborn Killers and Totem-Rushing survivors.

I think the combo is more of a counterplay to undying and thrill of the hunt. That extra 20%/40% enabled me to cleanse both Ruin and Undying in just enough time before a Blight could stop me. I think the aura reading is really only essential in getting the fifth totem which can be a trick to locate even with small game at times. But counterforce WITHOUT small game is kind of meh. Its a useless perk if you can’t locate one to begin with before others cleanse.

  • I like his zombies. They’re fun. But MAN he really doesn’t need them, at least if he doesn’t just go with his base perks.
