The "gen rush" problem people these days keep complaining about is the result of years of stripping away from survivors tools to fight back. When survivors were at their absolute peak (insta-everything, double pallets etc) nobody complained about gen rush because survivors wanted to interact with the killer and generators were kind of a secondary objective. Now survivors are much weaker on their own, and their best tool is generators to get out asap.
Also, the Hag needs an overhaul. She's awful to play against and most people suck at/hate playing her.
So would you want to bring those things back?
-
From my experience as well as some of my friends it's her vile Purge. At low walls it's fantastic, but at higher walls she doesn't shorten a loop as well. I play on console so aiming can be a nuisance.
-
A space station, kinda like dead space and the survivors get space suits. They have to complete all gens to power an escape pod. That or the inside of a pyramid.

Found the killer main. But anyway, the new changes don't allow for it to be meta. The saboteur perk has quite a long cooldown which applies even if the survivor doesn't finish the sabotage. You can only sabotage a small number of hooks with the toolbox. And sabotaging is now a risk as it places you in close proximity with the killer. The killer is free to drop the survivor by the hook and chase after the sabotaging survivor. As long as you're quick and get a hit in by the time you'Re back the survivor won't have crawled far and the hook will have respawned.

Literally everything fun about him on pc is non existent on console. Quick shots: Finicky as ######### and miss 8 times out of ten. Cutting off loops: You're most likely to hit the loop itself instead of the survivor. Movement speed is still dog #########. Aim controls are dog ######### also. Deathslinger is a worthless killer on console, and probably just as bad if not a little better on pc. What. The. #########. Devs?
We all even gave our feedback on him, but no you said "We're going to nerf one of his worthless perks instead of making him a better killer."
Have you tried making your own crosshair? I taped a coin to my screen and It drastically improved my aiming with him. Don't get too frustrated, but it takes some practice to get him aiming and pulling survivors down and this game is A+ at making me feel frustrated and angry.

What is he supposed to say? "We have no plans to make the game easier at the moment" Let people have fun dude, not everyone takes this game 100% serious, because it's a non-competitive GAME
He could have said they do or don't have plans on changing the tutorial to be more helpful or including new features that help newer players. But I'm not surprised they didn't say anything helpful considering they never do.

They don't it's a ludicrous notion dreamt up by bad players as an excuse for why everything goes wrong for them.
Do you HONESTLY think that killer is in such an unplayable state, and if it has been in such a state why are they all still playing?
Do you HONESTLY think a business makes money alienating a large portion of their fan base by making all the decisions based on the other halves opinion?
Do you HONESTLY think that if the devs hated killers they'd have: Nerfed Flashlights, Nerfed BNPs, Nerfed Exhaustion, Nerfed Insta-Heals, Nerfed Balance Landing, Nerfed MoM, Nerfed Healing, Buffed Wraith, Buffed Ghostface, Buffed Huntress, Buffed Doctor, Reworked Freddy, Nerfing Toolboxes, Buffing Plague, Buffing Trapper....
And they HATE killer because they Nerfed Nurse, Spirit & Ruin? Give it a rest, the game is in it's easiest position ever in terms of playing killer, it's just bad killers congregate on the forums to all Vote-Up each other and cry about the oppressive survivors.
What? OP was just weirdly asking why there are fewer killer tome challenges.

Id say there are probably six maps right now that fall in the camp of completely one sided. Obviously the game and Hawkens are way killer sided. For survivors its mostly Haddonfield the asylum mothers den and the temple, that being said I get that there are twice as many survivor maps as killer maps. But in the good 15 hours I played this weekend (both killer and survivor) I never got Hawkens and I only got the game the last trial I did. Excluding offerings I still got Haddonfield 3 times mothers den 5 or 6 times I got the asylum another 7 times and I got the temple 6 times this means that in my game time I got 1 killer sided map and 21 survivor sided maps. Ive also noticed a lack of offerings for the game and next to no offerings for Hawkens
I think you have to consider the state of this game when it first came out, which was heavily survivor sided. There was some bs stuff killers could pull off, like trapper putting his trap underneath a hooked survivor or only being able to unhook a survivor from the front. But the infinites, no bloodlust, fast vault from any angle, instablind, saboing all the hooks/trappers traps, no exhaustion while running. So If you take that into account it would be understandable why there are fewer killer sided maps.

Its a minor issue with games with huge playerbases as they can separate servers so it doesn't happen.
It's a very ignorant expectation to expect someone to know a language just because others do.
Then you have Asia where the game is popular also. Do you think they all should speak English? What language should they default too?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1116776#Comment_1116776
It depends on the game.
Overwatch, League etc have huge playerbase and can have servers for more specific regions.
Just because you can speak English and are on those servers doesn't mean you can disregard all the other countries. As I said above what about Asia? What language should they be defaulted too? It's not just about some but all you have to cater for.
Saying voice coms shouldn't be added, because people speak different languages doesn't make any sense. If all I got on dbd were people who spoke Mandarin I wouldn't say, get rid of voice coms. I'm not gonna let others not have fun because of a language barrier.

The killer is. If they're making a genuine attempt to catch someone while patrolling 3 gens, and not just looking at them to scare them off. If the survivors keep healing, coming back, getting hit, running, etc that's not hostage.
Especially since they could just let themselves get caught and die if they wanted to be done.
The killer is playing smart by not abandoning a 3 gen setup, just as survivors hiding are being smart by not immediately dying and causing the 4th to be screwed via bbq or hatch close.
And again, on EITHER side, if you think you cant win, or it's a stalemate, give up. Dont sit in it for 20 mins then complain about it. Let them kill you, or go afk and let them escape. It's easier than wandering around for 20 mins then complaining.
This isn't good advice for someone playing against two survivors who aren't doing anything. The same way telling someone they can win a hatch stand-off if they dont do anything.

@Botany_Meowledge said:
I agree that it's not really fun, just walking around, patrolling gens that haven't been touched, but from my experience, after several minutes or less/more, the survivors hiding around eventually touch a gen, making it easier to determine where they are.
There are still several tracking perks, like Surveillance, Iron Maiden, Deerstalker, Whispers etc. Being immersed might be seen as boring, but it's still a strategy and I don't think it would be fair to force players to change their playstyle. Killing 2 survivors before a gen is complete doesn't grant you the other 2 kills even though you have the upper hand. They still HAVE to move tiles and while it might take some time to find them, it's not impossible.
Hatch stand-offs were also seen as a strategy. Hiding and not doing anything isn't, and if its obvious you aren't going to do anything is reportable. I'm not saying the killer deserves to win in these situations, but they shouldn't be forced to run whispers bcuz 2 survivors decide to stop playing.

So anybode else has issues with them?
PS4 has framedrops anyways, but on this map you cant see ######### on console.
I noticed that I get sent there by p3 claudettes pretty frequently and they just turn insisible everywhere. Same goes for Tapps and Adams. Most other survivors have also a good time hiding there but the coloured survivors are just a joke.
I hit a claudette and shes just gone. Didnt even move much I guess, but iron will seals the deal.
Just unlucky for the other survivors who wear brighter clothing because if I cant see 2 of them the other 2 will die pretty fast.
Is this intended? gaining a huge advantage by a skin?
Dont know how its on PC, but you can actually change graphics so it could be a bit easier.
The devs have said in previous forums that they are "looking in to it" but deathslinger new map is also very dark so they either forgot or don't care.

As long as its optional i dont see an issue. While I feel PC players will have an advantage playing as killer those who wish too can simply uncheck the cross play option and can play only with the platforms they choose too.
Except all the games I've played have cross play enabled by default so if I turn mine off it will only increase que times. Not alot of people on any of 3 consoles want cross-play any time soon so enabling cross would only benefit pc players who want easier games. Also alot of games I've played that have cross-play even when you turn it off you still get qued with pc people & ximmers.

The ability to kill or get rid of the killer. If through some miracle the devs made that perfectly balanced and fair, mainly for killers since they're at risk of dying, then it would give survivors a second major objective, but at the cost that it would be extremely risky. It would have to be something all 4 survivors would have to do and it has to be situational and still very risky for survivors to do.

@Kai6864 Don't start all that. Clown has very good pressure. It's just popular opinion to sheep that he's weak. I play Clown and have learned techniques and styles of play with him that makes him very scary to go against. Just because a killer requires a different mentality towards chase, doesn't mean they are weak. In comparison within tier lists, of course when you stack them all up with each other then obviously one killer will be lower down. It does not reflect their strength by comparison. I love Clown, he is very fun and I find him to be strong. All this talk of buffing him/reworking him is naive opinions of people who haven't learned his true play potential
How can clown pressure gens, what perks do you usually use and what rank are you if you don't mind me asking?

@Johnble said:
Can we get an example of an AVERAGE match?
According to devs an average/balanced game is 2 kills and 2 escapes. They haven't mentioned how many hooks should be average so I'm gonna assume 6. Additionally this means that all 5 gens were done in order to have 2 escapes (2 people escaping via hatch isn't average or common.) Also an average match depends from rank to rank so in Otz/red rank killers case an average match is 3k-4k. So a basic average match would be a trapper(most used killer) hooking 2 survivors 3 times each while 5 gens get done and the other 2 escaping via exit gate.

I know what some of you are thinking: “Great, another thread about gen speeds!” But this is meant to explore a particular perk that everyone and their mother loves to run... Barbecue & Chilli (BBQ).
It may be safe to assume that BBQ & Chilli is one of the most used (if not the most used, especially after the Ruin nerf) killer perks in the game. In my experience I see this perk used by the killers I face a VERY HIGH percentage of the time (probably 3 out of every 4 matches). Why is this the case? The conditional aura reading that’s countered by lockers or being close to the survivor about to be hooked? In part, yes... but I feel like it’s those ever-tasty bonus bloodpoints (BPs). I get it, the grind is ridiculous and BPs are the currency that keeps your killer/survivor economy running. We need to unlock teachables, P3 everyone (if you’re into pointless bloody versions of default cosmetics), and stock up on items/addons. BUT - if we take out the BP factor from BBQ, what are you left with? Like I mentioned earlier, a conditional aura reading perk that lasts FOUR seconds does nothing to slow down gens (the point of my thread). Yes, you may get a good proc [code word for the perk activating] and see 3 survivors then pick your target; maybe it’s 2 survivors left and now you can secure the 4K... but during the critical portion of the match this perk is situational at best, especially on killers not named Freddy, Billy, Oni (if his power is up), Nurse and maybe Spirit. Other killers don’t have the speed/map control to utilize this perk effectively even with a good proc, yet I’ve run into Trappers and Hags that are running the perk. We all know why, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be the first to complain about gen speeds. But even with those killers I mentioned it’s better on, there are much better perk alternatives.
Thrilling Tremors is a better BBQ for gen stalling. “But Rey, there’s a cooldown!” Yes, there is... because otherwise this perk would be INSANE. It gives you immediate information of which gens (the survivor’s primary objective) are being repaired REGARDLESS of distance. Even if they let go of a gen, they are now forced to wait out those precious 16 seconds worth of gen time for you to hook your survivor and decide your next move. Pair it with Pop Goes The Weasel for maximum effect.
I won’t get into every gen-regression strategy/perk combos since there are quite a few. Corrupt Intervention + Dying Light (initial slowdown from CI while you build up DL); Sloppy + Thanataphobia (keep them injured and destroy their action speeds); etc. The point is, if you’re one of those killer mains that has an issue with gen speeds and still run BBQ, STOP RUNNING BBQ. There are perks designed to slow down gens and BBQ is not one of them, especially if you’re not good enough to capitalize when it does proc.
This is not meant to come off as me dictating how you should play or what perks to run. If you want to run BBQ (again, I see this perk probably 90% of matches I’m in) that’s your choice, but don’t complain about gen speeds.
What are your thoughts??
~ Rey (equal Survivor player / Killer player who doesn’t use BBQ every match)
How can TT be spammed if there is no cooldown? They could have just made it apply after you down someone, after being hooked, or just having it not apply if you juggle someone, but instead you get an unnecessarily long cooldown down for a b tier perk.

Let Survivors Go.
No seriously, when you're not under the pressure of gen speed, chase, pallet/window loop, and not aiming for tryhard 4K, killer game is much more fun for killer, just messing around with survivors, get couple of hooks and you'll have tons of bloodpoints.
I play for bloodpoints, and I barely get any playing casually. I would let survivors go if it meant I get the same amount of bp.

People camp for various reasons. Some just like to punish people with a flashlight or some just like to camp in general or some feel it as a victory if they had one kill that got camped that match. Whatever the reason was that the killer had for doing this, its a strategy.
Is it fair? No, not for the person that is being camped. Is it a good strategy? No, other survivors will be able to the rest of the gens without any pressure to the gens themselves and leave. Is it reportable? No, camping is not reportable.
If they are doing this to you every single game, then maybe. Since it will fall under a different category: griefing. Context matters and evidence needs to be provided to proof it.
You can find more info on the game rules here:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
tl;dr: Camping is not something that you report for. Its a strategy.
But even if the same killer camps every single game, you can't report them because hard camping like that is considered a strategy. So survivors can do nothing about it.
-
@Elk said:
No they shouldn't. You will only see that survivor in almost every match for their extra ability. There wouldn't be any diversity. Survivors are the only ones getting 5 perks will bring in more meta perks and give the killer an even bigger disadvantage. It is also unfair for the killer player for having to deal with 20 perks vs their 4.
Imo if it was balanced properly then playing against survivors with unique abilities would be fun. The main difference between perks and unique abilities would be you already know "5th perk" they have. I really just want something different from survivors, because they all play the same to me.

On a side note, you're one of the few people that actually managed to reason and argue your point. Which is worth mentioning because its so rare in this place. Most arguments amount to 'nah ah'.
Where did you get a 70% from I'm looking at the chart they released and only freddy has a 70%. He doesn't represent the killrate of most games. Also alot of threads from killers talk about map sizes vs killers with no map pressure,the upcoming sabo change, and gen times and toolboxes. That isn't being entitled it honest questions

Just kidding....sort of. Blatant face-camping is a bad strategy for a killer, and it is the survivors fault if it works. If survivors are going to keep throwing themselves at the hook, certain killers will take advantage of that. You want to stop that type of facecamping, finish the gens and escape with the killer only getting 1 kill. That will teach them a valuable lesson...but far too few survivors do that.
Exactly, my only issue with blatant face camping is if the survivor goes down too early, for example their chase is less than a minute so you have less time to do gens.

The game will never be "horror" to anyone with more than 75 hours, which is the majority of people playing, gore in video games quickly becomes nothing once you see it 100 times, you can't bring horror to a game that is continuously being played for, especially in online games where the killer is controlled by a human.
Additionally, I always see certain players ask for more darkness etc, they brought out dark outfits for characters and killers went mental over it, so much so they went and made them all grey instead of black, so it's unlikely we'll ever go back to the dark/foggy atmosphere we once had, which was by far the "spookiest" thing we had.
Letting survivors have dark outfits doesn't add to the scary aspect? They had to lighten them because some maps like Yamaoka are really dark and killers can hardly see. I'm color blind so seeing black against a darker black survivor is already annoying
-
I have died on 2nd and 1st hook to survivors who keep doing this so I feel your pain. The killer has no reason to move as they have 2 survivors in front of them doing nothing. It makes me even madder when I get a message from the survivor saying "srry I couldn't do anything they were camping :/." It's just as bad as looping a killer around a hooked survivor or being chased and running to a hooked survivor. It's good in some cases, but the survivors I get just do it because they can.

@EvilJoshy said:
As a killer that uses whispers a lot the best thing you can do is hide and keep moving without running. Even if whispers is going off it doesn't give me an exact location. I might be able to pin down the direction your at but if another survivor is around I cant do that. The biggest issue with whispers is finding someone. If I happen to go to the gen you were working on, whispers goes off and you crouched away. I'll look around and I might find you but I might not. In my experience the ones that hide in 1 spot standing still usually get found. The ones I don't find are the ones that hide somewhere, see me check a spot, then they move to said spot cause I think its clear. Sometimes if I looked all over and I still don't find someone i'll give up and go patrol another gen.
Do Not hide in lockers. Especially at the shack. If whispers is going off at the shack and there's no gens nearby it's pretty obvious your in there. Unless your running head on.
Is whispers more effective on larger maps like mothers dwelling or is it better on smaller maps like some of the azorof maps?

Whispers doesn't give an exact location...how is that so hard to counter, and are we really complaining about "whispers" of all perks now?
I'm not complaining it's a good perk, and good killers that use whispers get really good at figuring out not the exact location, but a good indicator of where a survivor might be. I'm not asking for a nerf or rework for a perk like that.
-
@Pepsidot said:
The only way to avoid being found by a killer using whispers is either by masking where you are by being near another survivor OR by following the killer around, so their whispers is almost always on.
But neither solutions are that good and if a killer is good enough and you're the last survivor you will be found. It's just a matter of when you will be found... unless you're lucky enough to get the hatch.
Darn, I really thought there was like a 5000 hour red rank survivor play that I just didn't know of yet. All my friends have pretty much told me the same thing and I just have to hope that they leave.

If you’re on Xbox you can view someone’s hours if they’re not on private. It’s somewhat of a workaround but it’s a good way to dodge noob survivors before readying up.
This is still a band-aid fix and an even further nerf to solo survivors.
Even still you can only do this but so fast. Also, they can have 1000h in game, but have little to no hours on survivor.
