I will once again say that we should have a low-priority queue for quitters with an optional ability for regular players to join the queue for BP incentives. The best to prevent quitters to have them play with other quitters.

The fact that this gets downvoted simply proves why disconnecting is such a big problem. So many players who think they should be entitled to ruin other people’s matches if they aren’t 100% satisfied in every second of every match.

  • Whenever they have enough revenue from that region to financially justify it. It’s simply a business decision.

We shouldn’t have to wait “Years” for fixes. It should be a couple months at most.

Years for anything is not realistic. Bug fixes, reworks, any of it shouldn’t take YEARS. We are not vampires. I don’t live to be 500. Lol

Unfortunately, with the ever growing mountain of content, BHVR can’t keep up with it anymore. A fixed number of devs to cover more and more content means that they have to abandon more and more older content just to keep up with the new stuff. We’re at the point now where we’re lucky to get more than 2-3 killer fixes/updates per year, so your favorite killer will be updated once every twenty years.

  • It’s not a problem with gen speeds in my opinion. Higher tier killers can apply enough pressure to deal with it unless you have a coordinated team on comms. The problem is that BHVR doesn’t have the resources to rework the growing mountain of old content, including buffing the low tier killers to make them competitive against more than just brand new survivors. It seems like they’ve simply abandoned all efforts for updating older killers and are focusing solely on new content and events now.

Alright, so it's fine when Killers do it but not Survivors. What about camping/tunneling/slugging? Is pushing one or more Survivors out of the trial before significant progress is made selfish? Or is that also OK when Killer does it?

Where did I say it was OK for killer to DC?

So killers get everything handed to them on a silver platter, and the changes survivors get promised not once, not twice, but three times (slugging and anti tunnel changes) get rug pulled and survivors are just supposed to take it and say thank you?

Not everyone feels that the game is as unfair for survivors as you do. I have plenty of fun playing survivor. For the times I don’t have fun, its almost always because of my teammates, not because killer has “everything handed to them on a silver platter.”

Look at Nightlight statistics. Matches that have a DC and matches that have a survivor gone before 1 gen is complete are almost always losses for the survivors. You can't claim "anecdotal evidence" when there are genuine statistics to prove you wrong. Any guesses as to why BHVR won't release data on matches that include a DC?

Nightlight is not a valid data source

Why is DCing in a game with no high stakes (MMR, rankings, tourneys, etc.) and so many bugs that there's hundreds that have yet to be fixed and more piling on every day so harmful? I'm thinking it's purely down to ego. That's why players would rather value their time and throw when things turn sour to reroll for another trial than to stick around and be miserable purely for the benefit of other people who are not extending the same toward them.

Besides, what do you think the Abandon feature is? It's been expanded since it was first implemented and there's calls to expand it even further. DCing/giving up is an integral part of the game, whether anyone likes that or not. And while BHVR gets very stern about it as well, their actions prove that they ultimately agree on that front.

This is a very selfish attitude. You value your time and game experience but nobody else’s time or game experience. If you had your way, anyone would be able to DC for the slightest thing going wrong in a match, which means that 100% of matches would have at least one DC. When killers do this, the match is immediately ended and ruined for everyone. When survivors do this, they are replaced by a useless bot that often runs straight into the corner or the map when chased and gives the rest of the survivor team zero chance to win.

It’s this kind of attitude that is exactly the cause of the problem. The game is far better off when these kind of players are locked out of matches.

  • @Classic_Rando said:

It’s clear that DC penalties are still not harsh enough

The downvotes simply prove why there’s such a problem. So many think you should be allowed to DC for any reason.

  • The matchmaking has been nonfunctional for a long time. I regularly get paired with literal brand new players in my solo queue lobbies. And yes it’s super demoralizing - it’s by far the worst part about the game. I almost always have fun playing survivor when my teammates are similar skill level. Sadly, that often is not the case.

  • It’s clear that DC penalties are still not harsh enough

  • Since the new update? Matchmaking has been non-functional for years. I have multiple thousand hours and I regularly get paired with brand new players in my solo queue lobbies on a regular basis.

  • I noticed this on Lerys as well. I played a match as killer yesterday and the poor survivors had a rough time running from room to room, desperately looking for pallets that are usually there but weren’t. I felt bad for them :(

  • @Zer0Chill said:

It's something I've noticed, but my escape rates lately in matches have been a lot higher as long as I'm paired with 3 other competent Survivor players in Solo Q. Chases feel so easy to run even as basekit Survivor since a lot of loops with a pallet feel so easy to gamesense around as Survivor. So it feels like it's much easier to waste Killer's time in a Chase especially as long as you start running when they're within 16m of you. And with how easy it is to heal off hook or recover after being injured... it makes Survivor either painfully boring to play because you just recover so easily and wallop Killer with no effort or you just blame your Survivor teammates for making awful decisions that cost the game (feeding).

Is it just me that feels this way?

I agree that survivor is enjoyable when you have good teammates and that most of the negative survivor experience comes from bad teammates, but honestly this just seems like bait. Do you have stats that you can post from your recent matches to at least provide some evidence that you are being genuine here?

please keep it killswitched. survivor has been feeling a lot better with haddonfield and forgotten ruins out of rotation😭

Agree 100%. This map feels so awful to play as survivor. Zero reason for killer to ever go in the dungeon, easy 3 gens on ground level, and to top of off the killer has easy view and short distance to both exit gates at the same time. I understand that not every map can be perfectly balanced, but this one is not even close and no attempt has been made yet to even make it a little more enjoyable for the survivor side.

I'm full of criticisms of BHVR lately, but:

They just had their biggest year ever. They averaged 7k more players in December than they did a year ago (there 2nd best December of all time).

As much as I wish they weren't doing well because it might lead to meaningful improvements, in terms of player counts that game is extremely healthy. And according to reports (or maybe what has even been said in streams) their plans go out a couple years into the future.

Agree. Despite all the complaints about the game here and across the community, the game is still at a historically high point in terms of popularity (and thus likely also in terms of revenue for BHVR). From a purely business perspective, which is what any for-profit business should consider first, there is no reason for them to make any significant changes in the direction right now.

    Literally this. /endthread

Nothing will help when people just cant play the game well at all. The real killers are the awful survivors. You can't balance around incompetency because that's just buffing the players who don't need it and now you have a serious imbalance issue. Handholding these players does nothing except make the core issue worse because they will never improve.

Saying this doesn’t win you the upvote/downvote popularity contest on this forum, but it’s a fact. There are a lot of, um, not very good players out there. I’m not saying this in a mean-spirited way or to imply that I myself am a great player; I’m simply noting my observations from thousands of hours in the game playing on both sides. Especially for those of you who play solo queue - go into your matches with a critical view of what both sides are doing and not just the killer. I think you’ll find that losses are far more often due to teammates refusing to do gens or getting downed instantly every time the killer starts to chase them.

The standard of performance for the average survivor needs to be a bit higher than what you often see from teammates in solo queue. An overhaul of the skill-measuring system to reward good survivor players who don’t escape matches because of bad teammates would be so impactful to improving the solo queue experience for survivor players who actually want to put in the effort to get better.

  • @TheTom20 said:

The issue with solo que is the team mates not the tools or the killers.

100% this. The reason I don’t jump on the “solo queue is terrible because killers are OP” bandwagon is because I’ve seen countless times (while playing killer and while playing survivor) how solo queue teams can easily win when the survivors are actually skilled at the game. The only time I don’t have fun in solo queue is when my teammates go down 5 seconds after chase starts or people aren’t doing gens while someone else is obviously getting chased. A bad experience almost never has to do with how the killer played.

I think it's probably easier for the average Killer than the average Survivor.,

OK - it’s still incredibly rare for either side. Some people want all killer players nerfed because they saw a few YouTube videos of the best killer players in the world going on long winstreaks. On the flip side, some people want all survivors nerfed because of a few bully squads on comms who get easy wins. Both of these opinions are based on non-representative data.

  • @mecca said:

The majority of survivors are solo so BHVR has a responsibility to make sure killers have a broken advantage so they have huge non-stop winstreaks.

Do you honestly think it’s easy for any average killer player to go on a “huge non-stop winstreak”? If so, have you ever tried it yourself?

  • @Venusa said:

“Learn to play” doesn’t mean anything in this context.

There is no amount of “learning” that lets a survivor outplay a killer who is sitting close to hook, immediately re-commits after the unhook, and hard tunnels with full intent to remove one person from the match. Especially in Chaos Shuffle, where you don’t control your perks and often get zero anti-tunnel tools.

After an unhook, you’re usually injured, in a dead zone, with mostly filler pallets already gone. You’re not making “mistakes”, you’re being forced into an unwinnable situation by design. At that point it’s not about skill expression, it’s about whether the killer chooses to leave you alone or not.

DBD isn’t a game where “learn to play” magically counters tunneling. If the killer wants you gone, you’re gone and Chaos Shuffle makes that more obvious than ever.

Actually, yes learning to play better as survivor can help a lot. I realize this is not a very popular opinion around here, but as someone who has a decent amount of experience playing both sides, it’s reality.

I’ve been on both the giving and receiving end of tunneling, and when a survivor knows how to loop and can make each chase last for a decent amount of time, the rest of survivors can get the gens done pretty easily because the killer isn’t putting any pressure on them. Of course this requires the other survivors to actually do gens, which sometimes doesn’t happened but that is not the killer’s fault, is it?

When I get tunneled, the thing that feels the worst to me is knowing that I get punished at the end of the game with a lower MMR score and (theoretically) getting matched with worse teammates in my next match. If the skill-measuring system actually made sense, and rewarded you with higher MMR for extended chases, tunneling would feel far less bad than it does now.

  • @BongoBoys said:

Is it really that hard for some kinda validation to check if a cheater insta heals themselves with no items or player to help them or if the cheater is flying for long durations and phasing through the map it detects that your not supposed to be there?

No, it’s not hard. It’s inexplicable why BHVR can’t (or isn’t willing) to implement easy solutions like this.

Your first post here argued that the game was balanced because of the target kill rate. Now you've moved the goal post to arbitrarily choose queue times.

Sounds like you've already decided in the answer and are desperately searching for a rationalization for that.

I'll also point out that queue times are a horrible metric to choose, not just because they vary between regions and time of day, but also because short queue times is specifically the function of the matchmaking system. So, defending matchmaking here is certainly a stance.

I didn’t “move” anything. Kill/escape rates and queue times are very much linked together, not mutually exclusive. The 60/40 ratio has led to much more balanced queue times during peak hours, which is exactly what I am aiming for if I am BHVR.

  • First of all, great post! Long, yes, but well thought-out and lots of good ideas.

Matchmaking/MMR needs to be BHVR’s top priority, hands downs. I was just thinking this last night as I was playing with a couple of friends who have less experience than me and aren’t as good at chases. We were in a losing match but I was having some really good, fun chases with the killer. I kept thinking about how my reward for all of this will be a drop in my MMR score so I will just get paired with worse teammates in the next match. Like, after all this time, do the devs still not get this?? There would be so much less throwing matches and giving up, less frustration with the game overall (at least on the survivor side) if skilled gameplay was actually rewarded at the individual level. Apparently this concept is still impossible to understand.

Then there is the issue of matchmaking. Even if what I mention above is resolved, it doesn’t matter if super high MMRs are still being matched with super low MMR scores, which I can confidently say with experience happens all the time. Something is fundamentally broken with the system when it allows people with thousands of hours to be paired with literal brand new players on a consistent basis. I counted at least 10 times yesterday when I was thrown into a lobby with teammates who had less than 30 hours in the game. There is your problem, staring you right in the face BHVR.

  • Do the roadmaps even mean anything? It would be a very interesting YouTube video for a content creator to go through all the old roadmaps and count how many things have been promised in the past but were completely abandoned without explanation.

  • I have the same experience lately. It seems that we’re still getting the “boosted maps” thing that is universally despised and to make it even better, we’re getting the maps that people complain about the most. I’m guessing it’s BHVR trying to collect more data on the maps because they are complained about so much. That I can understand, I guess, but it’s definitely frustrating for the players. I can also see why BHVR doesn’t tell the community they are doing this because a lot of people would just go play something else if they did.

  • @mecca said:

Of course, that's because survivors don't know how to quit. BHVR has shown in their actions they care nothing about the experience.

So…survivor players are actually all secretly miserable but still play the game in historically high numbers and spend a lot of money supporting the game anyway?

    Where?

Because I'm on these forums plenty, and I only see it brought up as a counter-argument to people complaining that 'survs OP'.

I never see it brought up on its own merit, in the way people talk about camping, tunnelling or slugging.

Here’s a test you can do: create a post that says “survivors should have a 50% average escape rate” and see what ratio of upvotes to downvotes you get.

Anyway, every time I see it on the forum now I will send you a screen shot if you like 😉

OTR is still good though, no killer is waiting out 40s of endurance. The whole point of it as an anti-tunnel perk is to guarantee you get 2 health states if you're tunnelled off hook.

Styptic/Syringes were just unfair, not saying they shouldn't be impactful or strong but there's a reason why Killer plays found them incredibly frustrating.

As you see, apparently nobody seems to care that killer players found those add-ons (which were guaranteed free health states) incredibly frustrating to go against. It really isn’t worth the effort trying to convince people who don’t seem to want to consider the perspective of the role that they themselves don’t personally play. You just get a bunch of anonymous downvote bombs with most not willing to provide any sort of counter argument or explanation why they disagree with you.

  • @Aeltere said:

Completely failing to understand that it's a 1v4 game for the killer. If each survivor has a "fair" game with the killer, then the killer has zero chance to play at all. We've been there before, look at what's been happening in the game when the survival rates dip above 50% and you'll understand why things are the way they are. Hell, look at matches against killers with sub-50 kill rates right now and understand that that's what you asking for as the killer experience . . . across the board. You won't get queue pops anymore because your victims, err, the killers will all quit.

Here to support the unpopular opinion that balance needs to be based on the queue times because that is the most objective way of measuring how much relative fun is having. The only opinion that seems to get you upvotes in this thread is “I’m not having fun playing survivor, so please nerf killers and no I don’t care how it affects the experience of those players”.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4048331#Comment_4048331

This narrative holds no water, in my opinion. The game has never been in such a bad state for Killer as 6.1.0 was for Survivor, and that was only the start of it. Roughly 6 months ago, we had a patch that was doling out DC penalties and locking Survivors out of the game because they hopped on a gen too close to the Killer after being unhooked. That patch lasted for an entire week. A patch dedicated to improving the Survivor experience was pulled from the PTB after 2 days.

At what point do we just admit that the game was fine before, but that there were pain points for everyone? Otherwise we have to believe that anything outside of the 4k is unacceptable and that Killer is in a bad state as long as they have to focus on macro play or really have to be inconvenienced at all.

I guess we’re done arguing here because the only resolution for you is “we just that the game was fine before”, which translates to “everyone just agree with my personal opinion”.

I’m not trying to get everyone to agree with my opinion - in fact I’m very well aware based on downvotes that my opinions that come from the perspective of someone who plays both sides of the game are often not popular. I’m simply stating what has happened to queue times in the past when game balanced was titled in more favorable way for survivors than it is now.

There’s actually not much point in arguing anyone’s personal opinion here. All we have to do is look at queue times and I’m guessing BHVR probably does this to make their balance decisions. Survivor queue times during peak hours when the largest number of people are playing used to be atrociously long, and now they are actually reasonable. That’s exactly what BHVR are trying to achieve. Balance around this, not individual opinions from people who are either performing below the average or people who don’t feel like the average is “fair”. This isn’t coming from a “biased killer main” point of view. For example, I will argue very strongly for further survivor buffs/killer nerfs in 2v8 because the queue times are telling us that it’s still not enough fun for many players to choose the survivor side.

A lot of people were not enjoying the game back when it was “fine before” and that’s why we had 15 minute (or longer) survivor queue times during peak hours vs the much shorter survivor queue times we had now. I played quite a few survivor matches with a couple friends last night and we all had a great time. Stop insisting that everyone who plays survivor is miserable, because it’s not even close to being reality for many players.

  • I play survivor more than I play killer. I think 40% escape rate is perfectly fair. I’m making this judgment based on almost 3,000 hours playing both sides. Escaping 40% of the time feels fine to me. 60% kill rate also feels fine to me.

I remember when average kill rates were lower, closer to 50%, and the game felt pretty miserable on the killer side unless you were playing S-tier killers with the sweatiest builds. Survivor queue times were super long because killer sucked to play. I was playing with a friend tonight and he, oddly enough, made a comment about how nice it is that survivor queue times during the evening when we play are only a few minutes instead of the 10-15 minutes that they used to be.

Killer players need to feel like the game is fair too, because otherwise we just go back to the time of super long survivor queues. Most of the complaints on this forum about the game being “unfair” are coming from survivor players who don’t play killer at all or don’t play killer very much, certainly not enough to consistently go against skilled survivors.

  • @Firellius said:

People complain about the game on both sides because they lose more often than they think they should.

If survivors cared about winrates, you'd see them throw a tantrum over the fact that BHVR officially balances for a 40% escape rate, which means they are intentionally getting disadvantaged in balancing.

Survivors really don't care much about losing, it's about the way they're made to lose.

There are plenty of tantrums about the 40% escape rate. They show up on this forum all the time.

Why the hell are you getting downvoted btw ? ######### you didn't even said anything provoking so why the hell so much downvotes.
I really do agree with your post - personally i also got people telling me to kyz only because i played freddy.
Most of the time i report people saying such things but i've gotten only 1 report feedback from swearing ever XD
But yeah that Meg basically wrote entire book in endgame chat how i should end it all etc. That kid went wayyy too far.

My idea is to make AI moderation for chat, and not necessarily make it strict or anything but make it understand the context and any form of communication abuse and hateful speech should be punished harshly. First would just be a warning and the harraser ability to chat will get blocked for 7 days, next time it would be for 1 month and 3rd time perm disabled chat untill the harraser makes appeal and even getting banned from the game if such person keeps breaking the rules anyway.

Not only chat hateful speech is abuse but also being unsportsmanlike.
That's NOT the first time i went against Sables that were hiding the entire game just wasting my time and helding the game hostage.. Dead by Daylight is NOT hide and seek ffs.

The reason barely anyone even gets banned is because the devs have to ban manually xD

I wonder why the hell are they so calm about it and acting like such problems are irrelevant.

Actually it's exactly the opposite, they are reasons people uninstall.

I hope they will have fun trying to find the survivor hiding for 15 mins in a row JUST RATTING the entire game.
    Jeez xD

The downvotes don’t bother me - I know some of my opinions aren’t popular here - but yeah I’m surprised that apparently some people think that me leaving the chat box open is the problem rather than the people who are saying the vilest things ever and going unpunished.

If BHVR don’t want to put the resources into enforcing their own chat abuse rules, then they should either 1) get rid of the chat altogether or 2) get rid of the rules and let people say whatever they want. They’re in the most frustrating place now where we are told to report but then nothing ever happens with the reports. If they want to maintain a welcoming place for their players, then they need to actually ban people for this stuff, whether it’s with AI or having more human resources devoted to dealing with reports.

Fine, I'll bite. But your post and edit has some serious "fight me" energy that doesn't feel like you really want a discussion.

These two things are likely why you're getting down voted, because it's incredibly tone deaf and comes across as oblivious:

What content have survivors lost recently? How have survivors been nerfed recently?

Styptic and syringe reworked and deleted, making every medkit effectively just "add more charges" and nerfing one of the only two items even with bothering to bring.

Speaking of items, fog vial is still soon enough to be "recent" and lasted a whole week between being introduced, then nerfed twice and functionally deleted from the game. You can't even bring this item to chaos shuffle.

Anti tunnel was most of 2025 discussion, and the top survivor complaint since the game released a decade ago. Not only was anti tunnel effectively scrapped due to "feedback" in the first 48 hours it was even able to be tested, the only thing that actually went live was a nerf to OTR, so tunneling got effectively buffed instead. This is a pretty massive middle finger from the devs.

Similar thing with tenacity and anti slug. No anti slug implemented, but they nerfed tenacity and only just this just recent patch put it back.

Pallets got screwed up over time as they weakened loops and maps over years. They finally went to fix it, went too far in some cases, and reverted most of it within a month or so. Still have bugged maps and areas where pallets are simply not spawning at all. May or may not be intentional, but state of the game right now is more dead zones than there were 3 months ago on certain maps.

From an overall balance perspective, average survivor escape rate is exactly where the devs want it to be,

The stats don't matter. No one cares what this number is.

What people care about is that the game currently sucks, it's not fun pretty regularly.

They could honestly make the kill rate 90% and if they found a way to make the game actually fun for survivors to play while losing then people would likely not care about the kill rate stat.

But many indicators are that the devs don't know how to make the game fun while doing that or simply don't care or think about that aspect.

But the fact that more than half your post is shoving this stat in people faces is missing the point. The gameplay isn't fun, so telling people it's intentional and designed that way says that you're not hearing the actual complaint here. And neither are the devs.

”They could honestly make the kill rate 90% and if they found a way to make the game actually fun for survivors to play while losing then people would likely not care about the kill rate stat.”

No, “honestly” that isn’t true at all. People complain about the game on both sides because they lose more often than they think they should. You are trying to make this way more complicated than it is. I understand now why the devs have such a difficult time making the game “fun” for people when they are getting such nebulous feedback about what makes the game “fun”. People are going to have more fun if they are winning and not losing - it’s quite simple.

  • BHVR hasn’t told us anything despite people frequently asking this question, so nobody really knows.

  • I already said (twice now) that I am not personally offended or affected by the chat abuse. So this isn’t a matter of “just turn off chat box”. What bothers me is the fact that BHVR has a function to report chat abuse and they (at least in my experience) don’t do anything with the reports. I know others here have the same experience with reporting cheaters and nothing beating done.

While I don’t care what people say in chat, there are players out there who are much more susceptible to being negatively affected by it. BHVR needs to either say “we’re not going to ban people for anything they say in chat, so don’t bother reporting” or they need to actually do something to remove these kind of players from the game. This is the whole point of my post.

Anonymous downvoters: maybe this time take a minute to respond with why you disagree with this.

you know you have the option to just click next and not read it right? i was on console for ages and that has no post match chat, it felt like i was playing with bots…if i didnt move to PC where there is a chat available then i would probably have quit the game because it feels so stale without it. im not condoning toxic chat by any means but you have the choice to not read it.

Yes, I know this option exists. I already said that the abuse doesn’t bother me personally, so there’s no reason for me to hide it. The only reason I keep it open is so that I can report these types of people who are harassing others through the chat system and hopefully get them banned. While I myself am not affected by the abuse, there are certainly some people out there who are. The solution is for BHVR to actually ban people for this kind of stuff, not just tell people to close the chat window.

There is something odd going on with pallets as some pallets that should be 100% chance of spawning don't spawn. Indoor maps you can see this more clearly as there is several in those that usually always spawn.

Yeah I noticed the god pallet that is supposed to spawn near one of the stairways on Midwich never spawns in matches I’ve played recently. If you’re playing survivor on this map you’re in for an even rougher time than usual, but apparently not a priority for BHVR to fix anytime soon.

  • This game is extremely new-player-unfriendly because there are thousands upon thousands of killer powers, killer/survivor perks, items, add-ons and combinations thereof and it’s way too overwhelming for all but the most devoted of players. Everyone that I used to play with quit pretty quickly because the amount of content was too overwhelming. Not much BHVR can do about that now unless they are willing to cut at least half of the content out of the game, which definitely ain’t gonna happen.

  • I don’t think anyone disagrees with OP that the gap between killers needs to be reduced. Killers that are too strong need nerfs, and killers that are too weak need buffs. The problem is that the game is so bloated with content now (>40 killers!) that BHVR can’t keep up with it anymore. They don’t have the resources to update older content anymore which is why we’re lucky to see one killer rework per year anymore. At this pace, your favorite killer will get a rework/update once every 40+ years.

Unfortunately it's never going to happen. The simple nature of certain killers completely limits them from being high tier no matter what you do with them.

Ghostface is good example of a killer that will never be top tier simply because he can't exert enough pressure on the map or the gens. If a killer doesn't have map control or a movement based ability, then they're mid or low tier automatically. Then that ability actually needs to be decent.

Ultimately the games base design, design philosophies and overall map design will always keep most killers from being more than what they are now. Unless we want everything being dash slop, it won't matter.

Disagree. Even killers like Ghostface can have their existing powers and add-ons buffed to the point where they feel stronger to play. BHVR just simply isn’t willing to put time and effort into doing so.

Maps overall became a lot worse than they were before the pallet density. Midwich, Hawkins and lerry‘s have gotten a lot of pallets removed and it wasn‘t even mentioned in the patch notes. Skull merchant map (forgot the name sorry) and disturbed ward got shrunken heavily and got a lot of loops nuked. The other affected maps from the update got a lot of terribly bad pallets now, that are super easy to win as killer and as survivor they are just frustrating to play since there is most times no good way to play them. Then some maps have like almost no windows while the pallets are terrible. You drop the pallet the killer runs around and hits you. You vault it, the killer just hits you or runs around and hits you. Add ping and hit boxes on top and it feels ten times worse. It doesn’t seem like it really matters how you play as survivor. I would like loops that are fun to play and not just a struggle where one tiny mistake instantly gets you killed while the killer can make thousand mistakes and even gets rewarded with bloodlust.

From the promised anti tunnel almost nothing cane through, except those lousy +5 seconds of endurance/haste, that do not really help against tunneling at all and are annoying to deal with as killer in endgame. Tunneling got made even easier by nerfing/shrinking of a lot of maps. At least give us the elusive and no hook notification sound. It would make tunneling more annoying for the killer and give players more time before the killer notices an unhook happened.

Lastly medkits got a hefty undeserved nerf with the explanation that it would be too much with the anti tunnel and pallet density, but guess what got reverted + nerfed further than it was before and what didn‘t. The syringe is kinda pointless now except you wanna do a head on clip for YouTube and the styptic is the worst medkit addon and it lacks creativity, because we already have more than enough charge addons.

The other survivor items don‘t feel much better! Keys are pointless after the killing of the bloodamber addon. Maps are pointless after becoming a worse version of WoO and getting rid of their old function. Fog vials do absolutely nothing after their underserved nerf the second week of their existence.

Playing survivor feels like you loose content every update, like you get punished for playing this side and you keep getting nerfed while killers get buff after buff. Some killers are way too OP and are still untouched, which is so questionable to me.

Agree or disagree with me. I‘m just describing my frustrations with the balance decisions of this game.

”Playing survivor feels like you loose content every update, like you get punished for playing this side and you keep getting nerfed while killers get buff after buff. Some killers are way too OP and are still untouched, which is so questionable to me.”

What content have survivors lost recently? How have survivors been nerfed recently? How have killers been buffed recently? You’re listing very general complaints with no specifics.

From an overall balance perspective, average survivor escape rate is exactly where the devs want it to be, unless of course you are in a 4-man SWF at high MMR then average escape rate is significantly better than the target 40%.

How often are you escaping? If it’s less than the 40% average, then it’s simply a matter of improving your own skills because based on the stats the average survivor can escape 40% of the time. If you’re at or above the target 40% escape rate, then this is not an issue of balance, it’s an issue of you not feeling like 40% (or better) is good enough. You’re entitled to that opinion, but BHVR has to balance around the overall satisfaction of players on both sides. We have seen what happened in the past when escape rates were higher. There were fewer people who wanted to play killer and consequently survivor queue times during peak hours were way higher than they are now.

Edit: so great to see that, as usual, an unpopular opinion gets downvotes with not a single person actually willing to offer a constructive counter argument. Much easier to just lob downvotes anonymously.

Agreed but for the exact opposite reason. I like winstreaking and facing winstreakers or tryhard/sweaty players in general. Meanwhile I hop on the game as someone with 5k hours and get this in my lobby:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2ZN24SP6DJX9/image.png

give me people with similar hour count to me in my matches. I don't want to get backfill lobbies and easy stomps. I want close games. The fact that I got this person (who was in my lobby because they were in a SWF with a 300 hour player, but still) is ridiculous.

I get this all the time and it clearly shows that matchmaking is simply non-existent. It’s pretty telling that BHVR hasn’t said anything about matchmaking in a very long time. They aren’t out there trying to defend it, nor are they saying anything about trying to improve it. This tells me that they know it’s hopelessly broken and the plan is to simply sweep it under the rug as much as they can.

  • The consultants who play both sides should be the main source of feedback, but sadly we have seen so many times in the past that feedback has been ignored and changes put into the game despite everyone shouting that’s it’s a bad idea.

  • Every time I’ve been kicked from a game due to server error I don’t get a penalty, so not sure what to tell you. You shouldn’t be getting DC penalty due to server errors.

  • It happens because 1) the matchmaking system is trash and 2) they don’t care that people are abusing VPN to get on servers outside their region.

It’s pointless to ask BHVR to do anything about this. It’s been asked many times with no response or action from BHVR. Limiting this would mean fewer players and no way BHVR is going to do anything to reduce player count, even if it means a worse experience for everyone else.
