LOL its clear that the killer mains finally showed up to the party. you're comment which helps no one is why bhvr is afraid to do anything. You are the problem.

This will be my last post on this forum. The fact that divisive “us vs them” trash posts like this one are apparently totally fine and worthy content to stay posted while we seem to regularly have long-standing forum members who actually contribute constructive feedback and productive discussions be banned or otherwise leave because they are disgusted with this garbage as well, is truly pathetic.

I’ve come to the conclusion that despite stating the opposite, the mods/devs really don’t care about addressing toxicity at all because they know it, in a sick and twisted way, draws people into the game and along with it their $$$. It’s why they are totally fine with the community devolving into an “us vs them” tribalistic pissing match where people who only play one side, are bad at the game and refuse to improve themselves, come to blame “killer mains” or “survivor mains” for all their problems and demand nerfs for the side they don’t like.

If that is the kind of place that they want this community to be, then I don’t want to waste my time here anymore. Thanks to those of you who take time to look at the game from both sides, articulate your ideas in a constructive and civil way, and truly want to make this game better for everyone and not just your preferred “main” side. I don’t know how or why you manage to stay here, but glad you are here and wish you the best.

  • You complain about toxicity yet you come here and intentionally fan the flames of “us vs them” toxicity by demanding people be banned for doing nothing against the rules in the game. It’s this kind of stuff that is what is causing toxicity in the community, not how people choose to play the game within the rules.

Lately there's been a lot of how should I call it… "interesting" behaviour in the end game chat for me. I'm talking slurs and racism and such.

The reports go in, of course, but we never receive feedback.

I get the "hacking" reports are hard to prove and are a bit of a gray area, but when it's there in writing…

So the question is, do we know for a fact, someone is looking at those?

Not in my experience. I’ve reported several people for saying the most hateful, vile things imaginable in post-game chat and I never received any response back from BHVR that action was taken. Even reports against cheaters/griefers with video evidence provided - no response.

It’s not hard to see why this kind of stuff if so rampant when there are zero consequences for the offenders.

  • First of all, yes the mode is “biased” against killer side because the killer queue times are still ridiculously long. There needs to be even more buffs to survivor side to encourage more players to choose that role. If you don’t like it, I’ll happily take your spot in line to play killer!

I am a very casual solo player and I do just fine as killer in 2v8. I am averaging nearly 7K playing mostly as Wraith. This includes a couple matches where teammate did literally nothing. If a very average player like me can do it, anyone can. But you have to know the right way to play in 2v8.

The key is you can’t commit to chases unless you know you’ll get the down very quickly and you need to move around a lot to harass survivors off of gens, especially in early game. Wraith is very good for doing this, and he’s one of my favorite killers to play anyway, so I usually pick him. What killer(s) are you using?

We seem to be reaching original Skull Merchant territory when it comes to versing Ghoul in solo queue. The last two games I've played against them yesterday, a survivor has quit instantly on hearing the terror radius music.

I don’t see Ghoul all that often anymore, but I don’t think I’ve ever escaped against one because at least one teammates has DC’d or gone AFK every single time I’ve faced Ghoul.

  • I play both sides about equally and I agree with you that getting slugged as 2nd to last survivor sucks and there needs to be an abandon mechanic is this situation.

I don’t know why you had to add the extra “us vs them” divisive comments though. Simply making your point I think would have gotten a lot of support, but then you had to take needless shots at “killer mains” for whatever reason. This is the kind of stuff that just adds to the toxicity in the community.

You must be aware of the quote

"Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game."

I'd argue tunnelling is a textbook example of this quote proven right.

Ok, and survivors will use comms to constantly call out killer location, who is going for hook rescues and which gens should be completed. That’s not fun for killer players.

Both sides will use “unfun” tactics to try to win as optimally as possible.

  • Posts like this just reinforce why the DC ban is needed

  • So you want to play a PvP game but you don’t want the other players to try to win?

  • BHVR refuses to enforce any sort of ping limits, so this is what you get. Player count is more important than player experience.

  • I’ll give the same response I did in the other “nerf Blight” thread.

Blight is fine. I can count on one hand the number of god-level Blights I’ve ever gone up against. Most of my matches against Blights have been quite fun. He’s not that difficult to counter. I’d take a Blight over Skull Merchant or Legion (boring), Ghoul (still busted OP), Singularity or Pinhead (OP against solo queue) any day. At least Blight is interactive to go against and has a good amount of counterplay.

If you think Blight is OP and gets easy wins, try playing him yourself. I found him quite difficult to master, so it’s not surprising that (similar to Nurse) I don’t see a lot of really good Blights.

  • He’s still not that good in 2v8. I don’t think I have failed to escape against a Nemesis in 2v8 yet.

  • Blight is fine. I can count on one hand the number of god-level Blights I’ve ever gone up against. Most of my matches against Blights have been quite fun. He’s not that difficult to counter. • Flooding forum discussions with feedback really doesn’t do anything. There have been plenty of widely-popular changes requested here that go nowhere. MMR/matchmaking changes is a notable example. The only things that get prioritized now are revenue-generating content or changes in response to widespread content creator backlash.

  • They’re just going to tell you “do it at your own risk” and if you get an EAC ban there is nothing they can do to help you.

  • Tunneling is not a problem if survivors can sustain a chase for more than 10 seconds. Trust me - I have tried tunneling against good survivors plenty of times and it usually ends poorly. Teammates can quickly crank out gens when killer is busy focusing on one person. A 60-second chase can easily lead to 2-3 gens being completed if survivor teammates are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Fully expecting to get downvotes for this because it’s never a popular opinion that it may simply be a matter of getting better at chases and teammates not screwing around doing nothing while someone is being tunneled.

When I get tunneled on the survivor side I honestly don’t care as long as my teammates are getting gens done. The matches where I get tunneled and die are still very rewarding and fun if my teammates all get out. The biggest problem from a player satisfaction perspective is that BHVR still punishes my MMR score (leading to worse teammates in future matches) if I don’t escape even if I was keeping the killer busy for most of the match and all my teammates escaped because of the insane logic that the only thing that matters for measuring skill is personal escapes. Unfortunately it looks like BHVR still has no plan or timeline to change the MMR skill-measuring system and they’re just going to keep this same busted system that punishes you for not escaping no matter how well you play.

  • I like the idea of making 2v8 a “weekend exclusive” mode. I think there are a lot of people (including myself) who like 2v8 better than 1v4 and I think having 2v8 be more permanent would keep more people playing the game consistently. Adding “play while you wait” to 1v4 is a good idea too, especially if an active 2v8 mode is affecting 1v4 queue times.

I think a lot of the pressure to only have one mode/queue is coming from players (especially content creators) who only play one side and don’t want to have to wait a long time for killer queues because they don’t want to play survivor while they wait. If everyone was fine with playing survivor while they wait for a killer queue, we really wouldn’t have a problem.

i agree that a lot of people are just really bad... 2v8 has no MMR iirc, so it's even more unbalanced than the regular gamemode (which they can't seem to figure out either). i've noticed most of my matches go one of three ways: a) the killers work well together and absolutely demolish the entire lobby quickly, b) the gens FLY and everyone escapes with like 3-4 hook states for the entire team somehow, or c) the bystander effect screws everyone over because no survivors are going for unhooks. a bunch of people hit 2nd state/die on hook and the game is lost when it otherwise likely could have been a more even match…. there is literally zero variety for me from these 3 results lol. with the struggles to get MMR to work correctly in even 1v4, doubling the number of players only heightens the noticeable imbalances in matchmaking. :/

i also have a confession….. i do the totems sometimes when all the gens pop super fast (or if i'm last man standing and hatches are closed)…. but i feel like due to it being situational its fine, right? don't hate me LOL, i'm just trying to farm some BPs with the huge bonus on the game mode

LOL I don’t hate anyone for playing the way they want to play 🙂. It’s just very frustrating to watch some teammates do totems in early game or when the outcome of the match can still swing either way. I have no problem at all when people do them for extra BP when match is clearly over one way or the other - I will do them myself in those situations!

  • Scouts are helpful, but in my experience the main reason for losses on the survivor side is very simple: teammates who are just very bad at the game. People are constantly getting downed like 5 seconds after chase starts. There are pallets galore in 2v8 and there is simply no reason for people to get downed that quickly unless they’re getting double-teamed. Even if you don’t have the Escapist class to see all the pallets, they are literally every few meters on most maps. I also lose my mind every time I see someone doing totems, which happens quite often. Totems should either be removed from 2v8 or actually make them help the team somehow if they are cleansed.

  • Just go stand in a corner somewhere and let the survivors amuse themselves for a few minutes at the gate. That’s what I do. The only reason they are waiting for you at the gate is because they know how upset you’ll be when they t-bag you. Don’t give them the opportunity to do it and after a few matches they’ll realize they’re just wasting their time and leave.

  • Agree. All this is going to do is make Ghoul more common, which means more of my solo queue matches with just have people disconnecting or giving up immediately.

  • The mountain of content keep getting bigger and bigger, but the level of resources to maintain that mountain of content stays the same or gets smaller. So yes, they are falling behind on updating older content and it’s only going to get worse with every new content release. At this point most of the older killers, perks, items, addons, etc probably won’t ever be touched again. Very sad

Looks like killer is where it needs to be but survivor is way too high. I'm very curious what the stats are for the game as a whole because I'm average at best for survivor but more pro with Huntress. I will say on demand sprint burst is too strong and needs to be changed. Rebuilding pallets is really strong too. I think that needs a longer cool down, IMO or a rework. I pick escapist the most because it's easy mode and honestly the reason why I have escaped so often, as you can see. And being able to bring pallets back. Pallets are a very strong tool for survivors and I don't know if BHVR sees them that way…

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/98I0LDQCPGFH/image.png

I’m ok with survivor being high because we need more incentive for people to pick survivor, not less. Killer queue times are still extremely long so honestly there should probably be even more buffs to the survivor side.

Whenever i played legion, i almost always won.

Wierd how i cant do it as ghostface or chucky....hmmmm

Because everyone would either DC or throw themselves at the killer when it was Legion

  • Now that Ghoul got buffed looking forward seeing more of him and more matches with all my teammates immediately giving up or disconnecting

  • At this point I just assume it’s not going to happen. Even if someone from BHVR said that “yes, it’s planned”, that really doesn’t mean anything because we’ve seen many things promised but forgotten about/scrapped with no explanation. If it eventually does happen then great, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

  • It’s not impossible. I’ve only played 12 killer matches so far, but have averaged 6-7K per match with Wraith

    image.png
  • I actually prefer 2v8 to 1v4. So I’m good with it

    Hello everyone,

as some of you may know I am back from my DBD break and the game is much more fun after some chill time.

After all that I still got a question and I don´t want this to be an us vs them so please be honest in this discussion.

    My problem is the following.

We all know that tunneling is the most unfun thing in this game so tunneling should be "punished" am I right? I think we can all agree in this. But as it seems are Killers who spread hooks in 2v8 the ones which are punished more strictly.

    What do I mean?

    • If the Killer gets 3 hooks this could mean that 3 Survivors got a hookstate each or that one Survivor is already dead. In both scenarios the gens get the same amount of gen speed but the Survivors numbers are different. So tunneling is sadly the better way here.

But now I get to the point which is the more problematic in my opinion and these are the abilitys which are unlocked after the first hook stage is archived.

    What do I mean?

    • If I decide to not tunnel I have till hookstate sixteen, eight stronger Survivors to deal with than Killers which go for elimanation every 3 hooks.

So I am a bit buffled. Shouldn´t this be the other way around?

Shouldn´t the Survivors which are tunneld out get more help than the ones which are more safe?

Maybe I am missing something but thats the moment I ask you for your help.

No, we don’t all agree that “tunneling should be punished.” It’s a valid strategy that has valid reasons to use depending on the situation.

  • I agree with you and there have been many complaints on the forum about this. Unfortunately, these complaints are simply going to continue to be ignored. BHVR have made it very clear that they are not willing to enforce any sort of ping limits. They would lose a lot of players if they did that and we all know they are not going to do that willingly, even if it means that many players have to suffer with unfair matches because of it.

  • Lately? The matchmaking hasn’t worked since I started playing the game years ago.

  • @SoGo said:

So, what do I mean by that?

It's really simple. The reason we can't have anything nice, the reason all the new players quit, the reason why "everyone tunnels/everyone is genrushing".

It's us. The "I HAVE to win" mentality, the constant Us VS Them arguments, the sheer, radioactive toxicity oozing out of every interaction between players.

BHVR doesn't help as much as they should. True. But what can you even do with a decrepit cesspit that the DbD community is?

Shouldn't the point of a game be to have fun? To have a break from stress and relax?

The “us vs them” is definitely the main reason for all the toxicity in the community. Most of the “us vs them” wouldn’t exist if everyone actually played both sides a relatively equal amount. Just look at all the posts around here with people calling others “killer mains” or “survivor mains” in a derogatory way and it’s not difficult to see where a vast majority of the toxicity is coming from.

  • Usually it’s just people who are terrible at looping and get downed immediately after chase starts

  • I love 2v8. Lots of other people do too. BHVR can’t make everyone happy. Whatever new modes they come up with are going to be loved by some and hated by others.

  • Just based on my personal experience I wouldn’t say it’s “out of control”. I rarely see blatant cheaters, and my overall results on both survivor and killer side don’t seem to indicate that there are a large number or subtle cheaters (if there are, they aren’t doing a very good job of winning games that they would otherwise lose).

I’m not saying that the problem doesn’t exist at all, because I have definitely seen it happen at least once a week, but it’s definitely in a small percentage of my matches.

One thing that makes it hard to believe that this is a “rampant” problem is that nobody who creates these threads ever provides video evidence. If you’re seeing it so often, you should have no problem providing a few example video clips. If we start flooding this forum with cheating examples, maybe that is something that would at least make BHVR start looking at the problem. But like I said, I don’t think it’s as widespread as some people claim.

  • People already have a hard enough time running this game unless they have the most high-end hardware available because it’s so poorly optimized. Adding water physics to this game would make most people’s hardware catch on fire.

  • As others have said, you can pick yourself up using your special ability. Slugging is a non-issue in 2v8 now.

  • @XsashagreyX said:

Rephrasing perk descriptions and changing aura colors is apparently a higher priority than rewarding players for investing hundreds of hours in characters or making the game more fun and fair with the mmr rework. Likely completely forgotten, like so many things before. Makes me very sad.

And it’s not even like it would take that much work to do. Literally just using the existing emblem system to calculate your score and progress towards higher MMR would be far better than the garbage system of “escapes = skill” that we have been stuck with for years now.

  • Kind of ironic that the only thing this useless anti-cheat system does is keep normal players from loading up the game. Maybe you need to start using cheats for the game to run reliably for you 😉

(Being sarcastic here I am NOT encouraging cheating!)

  • BHVRs refusal to ban people for chat abuse is extremely troubling. Their silence on this topic which has been brought up multiple times recently is equally troubling. It shows me that they prioritize revenue and player count over a safe and inclusive environment. Every single chat abuse report that I have submitted has gone ignored, and I do not report for trivial things. It’s extremely hateful stuff like death threats, wish of harm/death on family, racial slurs, etc.

  • @saym said:

To be honest, the MMR rework should take priority over new map releases, killer reworks, and everything else. If it doesn’t go ahead as scheduled, BHVR will completely lose the community’s trust.

I think they lost the community’s trust long ago. This was just another example in a very long list of examples of things that BHVR promised to work on and forgotten about or intentionally abandoned with no explanation to the community. But the community’s trust doesn’t really matter when the player count is still at historically high levels.

I agree 100% that MMR/matchmaking needs to be top priority, but clearly BHVR do not.

  • I don’t consider myself a great player (casual, usually 5-10 hours per week) and I’ve been able to do just fine as killer. It definitely helps a lot to have at least one highly mobile killer like Wraith, Blight or Billy to drive survivor off gens consistently. But it is definitely possible - if an average player like me can do it, anyone can. Keep in mind this is 2v8 mode, where the matchmaking is even more non-existent than normal mode. In my experience there are a lot of bad survivor players so it’s not hard to get quick downs most of the time.

Also, I’m totally fine with counting to buff survivor side in 2v8 to encourage more people to play that side. Killer queues are still 20 minutes+, so buffing killer side would only make that worse.

2v8 stats killer stats (includes at least one match where my teammate did literally nothing):

    image.png
  • We’re basically on pace to get one or two killer reworks per year, so at best you can expect a Legion rework sometime in the next 20 years

You get used to the downvotes lol, its often a case of "your right but i dont like that your right so im going to downvote you".

And most people don’t even bother to formulate a response for why they disagree. They just lob their anonymous downvote bomb and run away. It’s a stupid feature of the forum. At minimum they should make it visible who is downvoting so you can see who is logging on simply to downvote people whose opinions they don’t like, sometimes with multiple alt accounts.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

They have literally said multiple times they are currently working on it now. So yes, its happening.

And guess what - still nothing about it in today’s dev stream. So no, it is not happening.

  • This is why everyone should completely ignore these meaningless “roadmaps”. They have been empty promises for years and this time is no different. For those few of you who were still trusting that MMR rework was actually being actively worked on, it’s time to say “I told you so”.

  • This is by far the biggest problem with the game. I always have fun matches if I’m paired with people of similar skill level, even if I lose. I do not have fun when default skin Sable is crouching in a corner and not doing gens while I am getting chased or teammates can’t last longer than 5 seconds in chase.

The fact that this is by far the biggest problem in the game has been glaringly obvious for years. However, it continues to be ignored because fixing it probably won’t bring in much additional revenue.

  • Why do people keep trying to come up with terrible excuses to get rid of the DC penalty?

  • I won’t be excited about anything until matchmaking/MMR changes gets announced. At this point I don’t think it’s ever going to happen.
