Kinda funny that the same devs thought Freddy absolutely had to be nerfed after less than a week off PTB. We all got set-up as yes, this is how she will play. Then on release, they just stripped that out, and it really took a chunk of power away for something no one really wanted. More corrupt timer? Ok. More slows? Oh boy, cuz I love being slowed to a crawl every time I do something. Really helps the Clown out doesn't it? Huntress too.

How am I entitled for recognizing a bad change? I don't trust the devs, cuz I've spoken to the devs. Considering the meta, and how things have only been getting worse? Yea, clearly entitlement and not frustrated with poor design choices. Not like I play both sides so I recognize the issues, nope.

How often do you play Plague? Did you play her on PTB? Have you been playing her since release? Community: Fountain full healing is a bit too strong. Devs: Too bad. Yup, devs really know what they're doing. I adjusted to the change, but I recognize it was a bad change. Me having good games, doesn't mean she's a good killer either.

    Inb4: LUL UR BAD

Entitlement because it wasnt fully ready. She was being tested. Getting mad that it wasnt released how YOU felt it should be, regardless of the fact that the ptb was to test and change things accordingly before release. Do you not comprehend the words very well?

But, as you showed, shes viable with the change. Thank you for proving my point.

Uh, chief, a nerf is a nerf. Whether it's live or not. Also everyone played her by holding her puke. That was kinda the point, and made the multiple slows she gets from simply using her power not as bad. Now, you have to slow to rev, slow if you hold it, and slowed after. She's not a very good killer. You can completely cuck her by simply going to far out fountains, or just not healing. Broken isn't scary at all. If no one heals until end-game, you're losing out on half your power.

Also, she's so easily looped, as is her puke. Anything remotely tall will block the puke, and completely ruin her looping cuz you constantly slow down. Yea, you can puke over mid/low walls, but you can arguably knock them down faster by just M1ing them. Then puke, hook, and let it spread that way. No mistake about it, she got nerfed, and the fact a pallet stun removes her power is laughable.

So while on a test build, intended to see balancing and MAKE CHANGES BEFORE RELEASE, people got set in their ways on how to play a killer, and are upset that they saw the balancing needed and did just that? Because you cant play her how you think you should as opposed to how the devs feel she should be?

    That screams entitlement.

It was a test build. Not early access.

The change was horrible. I'm slow when I charge it I'm slow when I hold I'm slowed to a crawl after finished puking. Excuse me but how tf do I use this on loops? And survivors can just crouch and avoid getting hit over objects. Her 115% while holding her puke was perfectly fine just trying to hit all of it on a good survivor takes real skill. But of course God forbid a killer having a good ability.

You think on loops. You shoot over loops. Excuse tf out of me but I didnt realize we wanted our hands held through playing killer.

Would it be easier if you just had to tap the ability to use it? Because moving full speed with it charged is essentially that.

Ntm there are addons for the movement speed.

Everytime I hear the "change since ptb" I hear that people watched people play her before release, get SET on how she HAD to be played, and refuse to accept any change at all.

Shes still perfectly viable. If he losing a TINY amount of speed while holding threat, causes you to ultimately lose games on loop difficulties, maybe you should look at how you approach loops to begin with.

Solo survivor now is 100% unplayable and ultraweak , u must be a masochist for playing solo survivor (or someone that like play in "hard" mode like me).

If BHVR don't buff solo survivor (and Remove/hugenerf swf) this game will became unplayable because will became all game only 4swf vs killer (and killer is the Weaker side in this scenario)

4 person squads. You mean less than 9% of game match ups?

    Okay hon.

But even then, Swf is not that bad. People should learn from a loss instead of get salty about it. And if they taunt, dont let it bother them? Be an adult?

    @Saint_Ukraine

While that would indeed close the gap completely between SWF and Solos. Behavior themselves have stated that they don’t want to take that approach.

They don’t want to force players into hearing any distracting and unhelpful sounds that may come from someone’s mic.

It’s actually one of the few things that they’ve been pretty decisive about. So with that in mind, it’s better to look at other solutions than to suggest something they’re openly adamant against.

    Option: disable game chat.

    Random noises done.

  • You mean the shape stalks? Like from this?

Basically what made her viable in the PTB.

Sorry i forgot that God forbid killers getting nice things or an enjoyable gaming experience.

You miss my point. She should be good, viable, etc, but not at the cost of making her power a non stop always use thing. It should be dynamic and give options for thought. This change is good.

They should find a way to balance that change, to keep her tier, but the change in itself isnt a bad one.

I didnt say she shouldnt be a great killer.

As I said trying to use this in loops is impossible they're going to drop the pallet on me when i use it which is sort of a good way to gain high sickness on surviors or the loop is just to curved for me to even hit them alot with it. Her movement speed shouldn't have been reduced seriously it was unneeded.

Her ability goes over what they loop you on.

It counters them still. Being able to hold it and have full speed would negate ever having to let off of the button. It may as well be a "tap the button to use it whenever " ability by that logic.

    This.

We had one person on hook, 3 at gates. We knew we could all leave. But we wanted to TRY to save them. Their camping and our altruism/playing around ended up with then getting a 3k.

It is legit, and only made effective by survivors.

    Otherwise it's their loss. Simple.

  • @TheBean said:

@projecteulogy Just about the first sentence about the Dev stating they can't tell the difference...

They know when you open up the menu and select Leave Match.

They know when you've been disconnected from the host. They may not be able to tell the difference from an local ethernet unplug or the host disconnecting... but this could be determined. I actually think they can tell the difference now on those.

They know if you've DC'd because you've crashed.

They automatically track everybody that disconnects and will start banning you based on a certain threshold.

It is ok to wait for dedicated servers, however we haven't heard anything yet on how they will be dealing with this, if they even are going to change it to a new style of punishment.

Them determining disconnects on a dedicated server system is no different then using P2P... except for a dedicated server you have a host PC instead. Otherwise, conceptually these can be handled in the same fashion.

Them stating they don't know the difference is just them saying it hasn't been programmed yet to know the difference, so they aren't lying in a technical sense.

You can fake a crash by simply closing program, or restarting it.

People bypass the for honor timer that way.

Which is why I think a dc timer for dcing, period, should exist. If it's a rl emergency or a power flicker or net reconnect, 5 mins wont kill you. But 4 or those in an hour? That's likely not outside of your control, and if it is, you should deal with that instead of trying to play the game and dc again.

  • You mean the rank system that's not a ranked system but alleviates the issues of rank 20s and rank 1s in the same lobby?

I'm pretty sure it did its job. Only recently have I seen such mismatched games. And they're still usually not more than 8 ranks away.

So I think the "ranking" system in place is fine, but being able to purposefully de pip, and having it sp easy to pip up, makes it seem like it does nothing.

    Also, no more picture signature?

  • So you're not having fun as killer. So dont play killer...

If you're playing to get 4k and max BP every game, and not to enjoy it, good or bad, you're not playing the game, you're playing the grind. That ######### gets old on every game, on every side.

No one will go out of their way to get 3 hits. Everyone will most likely take 3 hits, especially loopers that want to be chased. They don't care about their aura being read since they want the killer to chase them.

We don't know how the perk works yet but assuming when the killer hits a survivor they get the weapon wipe animation and the survivor gets the speed burst then yeah, this perk will be op.

If you've every played at red ranks you know how long a good looper can hold a chase. This is just gonna be new ds since it extends the chase even further, this will be even better than ds because it literally has no counter unless you are playing billy.

I have played at red ranks, and we in fact can tell how it works. I've been using it on ps4 in kyf.

Your entire post makes it seem so broken, yet it's still worse/more situational than dead hard.

But you're right, you know everything hon. <3

  • @Kebek said:

Lol giving out your aura isn't a negative. It's such a skilless perk that once again rewards survivors for failing at chases and rewards them without any real counterplay.

I don't mind giving survivors strong perks but they either need to be difficult to use and not automatic and uncounterable like this or they need real disadvantages and not aura reading which does pretty much nothing. Finding survivors was never a problem for killers so how can aura reading be considered a weakness for Entity's sake.

If it for example slowed their gen repair speed by some decent % then I would consider it fair. If you are good at chases you can waste more time with it then you would lose by having that repair debuff and it would prevent it from beiing OP if all 4 survivors use it.

Current version is braindead uncounterable free instaheal once per game without real disadvantage. And what's worst it punishes M1 killers the most. How are we ever gonna get out of nurse/billy meta if we keep printing anti M1 perks that benefit poor play by survivors. I wish more perks were like deah hard. In hands of skilled survivor it's the best exhaustion perk imao.

I really hope that devs take their time and think this perk through since I don't want to wait another 2-3 years before they decide it's OP like DS (not such much but pretty close) was and give it rework.

If giving out your aura wasnt a negative, Nurses, BBQ, and Murmur wouldnt be ran as much as they are.

  • @Delfador said:

    I disagree.

Good survivors don't care about revealing themselves except for against a good nurse. They literally take object of obsession and tbag you at the start of the game or flashlight click to get your attention.

You can make it activate though, just like getting WGLF stacks, just go and get your hits when a killer is trying to hook somebody. I don't think that being able to activate it is that difficult.

Solo survivors most probably won't use it as much as SWF. Just like the old DS, SWF groups will take this perk and use it very strategically.

We'll see I guess but I don't think this perk is balanced at all.

So someone going out of their way, to get hit, instead of doing work, 3 times, just to have one free shot later (one time use), to then be revealed when healed until they're downed, isnt balanced at all?

    FOH.

So Is dead hard op? Since you can activate it after one hit, multiple times a match, whenever you choose?

The perk doesn't even work literally most of the time. You can jump in front of the killer just to not stun them. It might be a network issue but they should not make it an exhaustion perk and increase the radius to buff it

if it changes in game, it may be your internet, or theirs. But if it goes from green in lobby to red in game, it didnt suddenly spike 1000ms. It's probably a 100 ms jump. Its unfortunate, but not unplayable, and likely affecting everyone.

You’re never going to convey that much information with a few points, especially in the span of a few seconds.

    People Dc because

    bad ping

bs killer hits aka hitboxes when you drop pallet or when you jump window

    Legion

    camping

    tunneling

using really annoying addons like 5 blink nurse

    Any inside doors map

if they remove legion and inside door maps people whil dc less and thats a fact honestly.

Hitboxes lets hope dedicated servers can help out a bit :P

Imagine this LEGION thanatopia lvl 3 and then sloppy butcher thats like - 43 % and people are already annoyed as it is any killer can do that pretty mutch :P

None of those are a good reason to DC. Annoying if you're the target? Sure. But it's not every game. Play your best. Learn what you can and move on. Dont be a child and DC because its not the game you had in mind when you hit find lobby.

Weird killer hits? Unfortunate side affect of p2p servers, but if you know its gonna be a bs hit from past experiences, dont go for it. Bait a swing, force a pallet respect. Think.

And bad ping? Dont ready up. Leave the lobby beforehand.

@Carpemortum "An honest power loss DC is one time. The first time ban is usually 5 min. If you have 4 power loss DCs in 45 min, it's harder to believe it wasnt intentional."

What do you think they will do in those 5 minutes? Wait? Maybe some people but if it was an undeserved punishment chances are better that they just shut off the game and do something else. They will go play another game perhaps, good luck drawing them back now. It doesn't work.

"And if you really believe theres nothing keeping them playing, then how do you not see they play just to be toxic? They already have an incentive to not DC. NOT LOSING THEIR BP AND TIME THIS TRIAL."

Again that's not an incentive for them to stay. There is no bonus, if they have a bad game the BP/time is irrelevant. Also, it's a very big assumption to say they play just to be toxic. Sure some players enjoy to annoy others, but that too is not an incentive to stay. If you fail at being toxic, but there is a big reward to stay they will stay because now they at least get something despite the fact that they failed. You want to encourage good behavior, and you can't do that through punishment. If that toxic player has some reason to be slightly less toxic they will be less toxic.

Yes, a normal person who loses power will wait 5 mins. If it happens again theyll be mad, but not at the game. Likely at their power. How can they play another game if they have NO POWER? Or had an IRL emergency? Those are legit reasons to dc. They wont move on, because the game isnt the issue.

People who arent there to play toxic, or can handle themselves as an adult, typically dont DC after a bad game. They accept the loss and move on. Their incentive is their time played, bp earned, and knowledge or skill gained.

So yes, I assume most people who DC when they get hit, or hooked, are there to be toxic.

At lower ranks it's because of frustration, but you can only use that as an excuse for so long.

So, you're saying give a bigger bonus to keep people playing, even if it only really is a bonus to toxic players?

    Help me understand that logic.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/378538#Comment_378538

And if it wasn't intentional, you definitely have bigger problems than playing a game.

Exactly. If you get DCd by something out of your control that much, dont try playing ANOTHER round until its resolved/understood.

Or IRL emergencies. A 5 min ban is up by the time you're back from whatever is needed.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/378489#Comment_378489

It makes it less frequent because there are less players. That's not a good thing. And if you punish DC's eventually people will start to get punished who don't deserve it. Look at the forums for games that have DC punishments. There are so many instances of just an honest DC from loss of power/internet or some bug in the system and then people can't play. This makes players angry and then they stop playing. Let that go for long enough and eventually your population will suffer from it.

"People have reason to stay" no they don't. There is nothing keeping them. If they have a bad game and barely get any BP that's not enough of an incentive for them to stay so they DC. But dangle a big fat BP/shard carrot in front of them and they will tough it out and take the L for the bonus at the very least. It works. It's been proven to work. Reward people is a much better option because it avoids the negatives. It promotes positives.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/378501#Comment_378501

Punishments should only be used as a last resort. Just going for the punishment out of the gate is the wrong way to do it, as it promotes negativity and just exacerbates the problem. Someone DC's out of rage, then they get punished and stop playing. Now there are less players and those that wouldn't DC will get frustrated with the game, increasing the likelihood they start to DC as well. The problem snowballs until the game is dead. Not a good solution.

If less players means less DC, and in turn more FULL game lobbies for the entire trial, so be it. Its a welcome change. Why do we want toxic players in the community at all?

An honest power loss DC is one time. The first time ban is usually 5 min. If you have 4 power loss DCs in 45 min, it's harder to believe it wasnt intentional.

And if you really believe theres nothing keeping them playing, then how do you not see they play just to be toxic? They already have an incentive to not DC. NOT LOSING THEIR BP AND TIME THIS TRIAL.

If that (the whole core of the game progression) wont keep them playing, guess what does? Being toxic. And what do those players do? DC.

Not a bad idea. We just assume others knew about it, but if it is indeed something with how the lobbies connect players, it may help. I'll write up a more thought out/eloquent post for it. I'll try to find some vid clips of us doing it as well but that may be hard with 400G of (just DBD) video saves on my ps4....lol

Actually somewhat incorrect. Buckle Up is not working 100% correctly from my experience, specifically the "aura intensity" part of it. Though the rest of the perk and the other 2 work as expected.

Also we only got to see the survivor stuff, nothing about the killer. I highly doubt an Evil Dead chapter would only be a survivor, considering how many awesome options they have for killers. Chances are the survivor side is mostly "content complete" but the fact we have nothing on killer side suggests the chapter itself is a ways off. I could be wrong, but if the chapter was indeed content complete I would bet that we would have seen killer perks too. Probably even some hint at the map.

Unfortunately, we do have to consider that may do a "Paragraph" for ash, much like LF. I hope not, but they may very well have the rights to Ash/Bruce, but not the franchise or its antagonists.

  • @Saint_Ukraine said:

Do people normally d/c every single game? That does not happen to me; it is a rarity. As for wait times, they have improved for me. I used to have to wait forever, but now it takes only a couple of minutes. There's still the issue with locked lobbies that have 3 survivors, and somehow a 4th is unable to join, however.

A friend and I found a temp fix. It seems the 3 man lobbies have issues with pairs. So if its 2 friends a 3rd random, and a 4th wont connect, getting the 3rd to leave usually fixes it. Weve been stick for 5 min, asked the random to leave bc it's a bugged lobby, and them immediately get 2 new replacements.

I know its anecdotal, and probably doesnt explain the issue, but it's a pretty consistent workaround from the times weve tried it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/378429#Comment_378429

Actually no it doesn't. Punishing DC's just pushes players away and reduces the population. Only hugely popular games with giant populations can get away with this really.

Instead of punishing DC's they should reward you for not DC'ing. Consecutive completed match bonus for BP and shards would help a lot more than punishing the people that quit. Also incentivizing people to play more fair would prevent the other side from DC'ing as much. Proper matchmaking where you don't get put against players that are way better than you would help too. And this new ranking system is not helping anyone to want to stick around since it can be really frustrating to rank up to the point some people would rather just not play. If you're going to be depipped multiple games in a row because the ranking system is busted, why would you NOT just DC when you're in a losing situation?

If BHVR just started to punish DC's then the game would just bleed players because the core issues are not addressed.

Positive rewards > negative punishments. It's a proven fact in psychology. Give people a reason to stay and tough it out and DC rates will drop without hurting the game.

It does work. It keeps the people who dc every other game, out of game lobbies. Making DCs/afk teammates less frequent.

The only people who dont like how dc ban timers work, are those who get banned.

People have a reason to stay. All the BP theyve already earned, and the time spent. They dont care. Those who dc do it out of spite, rage, or the fact they tried to bully and got caught. No incentive will male them stop doing that.

Virtually impossible to communicate a killer’s “exact” location in Solos.

Pointing will give them a vague direction at best, while voice coms can give you every detail you could need.

For 6 seconds and then nobody knows where it is. You cant give your swf an EXACT location either. Just a general area.

  • You wait 10 mins for a lobby? All mine have been under 3 mins.

Also I dont see survivors dc early as often as people are saying.

Are you guys like, all on rank 16 with a VPN keeping you from connecting or something?

  • I've only seen maybe 3. Which is weird on console, because youd assume it's more work to setup an auto swing on console, than it is to actually play the game.

Ofc, one was faking it as hillbilly w noed. THAT was fun to watch.

Probably because it was discussed the other week in the ptb.

There's nothing bad aboht this chapter, bugs aside. Nothing to get annoyed about imo.

I agree, I enjoy the chapter. But a few days ago I saw people FURIOUS that plague cant move fullspeed with her power charged. And the ss change.

Just seemed odd that people calmed down so fast.

  • It's a good, solid perk that has a situation where it shines. The only drawback is if you plan on using it, get the killers attention to save someone else, and they decide to Mori you instead of pick you up....

That's happened to me more than I've gotten to actually use DS in the last 2 days. 4:1

  • I've waited more than 3 minutes for MAYBE 2 games since the patch. And that's at midnight EST when a month ago wed be waiting 20 mins.

It's unfortunate you're not getting games, but it isnt the new matchmakings fault, not is it affecting everyone the same.

That's why making them lose progress will deter people like that.

Yeah. Bans for dc, de pips etc. I get that. But the post was about NOT punishing DCs but incentivizing the game to encourage people to not DC. Which I said wont work bc people DC based on what THEY think the game should be, and they will never be happy with "incentives to stay" when they get caught first or after being toxic. The incentive for those players are the toxic actions. If they cant bully/win every game, they leave.

Timed bans increasing on DC like many other competetive games, would work better I think than 50% of games dcd gets a ban/de ranking.

  • Ahhhh yeah. I'm not much higher rn. Usually around 10-6, but that may have a lot to do with it. A friend of mine is still very new, rank 16 surv, and will dc occasionally after being tunneled all game. I tell him it's still no excuse, and he DCS and quits, but I think the lack of playtime/dealing with the bad games feeds the DCs at those ranks.

Not blaming you at all, just that lower ranks seem to have much higher DC rates than the middle ground in my experience.

Im talking about people we are quitting the game intentionally because they're mad they're losing.

Right. But your op also uses the logic that they are mad and DC to spite the killer and lower his point gain.

A thought that doesnt cross my mind as a survivor.

Is it something that you have go through your head or you do yourself?

Usually a DC is a ragequit, not to deny bp out of spite. Which is why giving more bp for a DC wouldnt do much to prevent DC. It would give the killer more, yes; but it wouldnt end the issue itself. DCs would still happen.

  • DC every match? That's odd. I havent seen a dc in more than 1/10 in the last week or two...

The killer is already awarded the DC bonus BP. So I incline that we raise it higher then the sacrifice amount so that Survivors are less inclined to quit. Because right now, they know that the Quitter Bonus is lower then the Sacrifice so they like to cheat the killer out of that extra BP by quitting.

Well, I for one, when playing survivor think about my game, and not how well or poor the killer is or will do. Their points arent my objective...

This would be easily exploitable. I've had matches where people added and had me join a call after we entered the lobby. Others where I just happened to run into someone I was on a discord with, so we joined a call. Just because you're solo doesn't mean you're solo.

Yeah I'm not gonna lie, I ran distortion when it first came out. For like, 2 days whenever I'd lose a token I'd message my randoms and tell them if it was bbq/bitter. Usually couldnt add to messages, and I was told I'd be reported for cheating even though I used my perks to determine his perks.

But while it technically "is like swf but as a solo", it felt really scummy.

Either way, even as a solo, you can message and contact the other people, so visual cues and seeing the killers screen would be op. Almost cheating.

Like streamsniping almost. Oh, wait, they said that's acceptable....

    Regardless, could be exploited easily.

I'm assuming they're a person who slugs the third person to find the 4th, so all the third person can do is lay bleeding out, or disconnect.

So you mean accept their defeat, wait maybe 60 seconds, gain pts and move on.

    Or

Act like a child and leave because they're impatient and dont want to lose?

Being slugged isnt fun, but really? Cant win em all. Why lose all your Bp, waste all the time you just spent, AND look like a child?

Never DC.... unless ofc you're being held hostage. For like 20 mins.

  • More motivation in an unfun match wont change the people who dc because they dont want to lose at all. Or those who want to tbag and flashlight, then dc when caught.

You cant make a match more fun for people who are only there to be an #########. Those people will always dc.
