  • @Kycer glad you enjoyed, I wasn't even mad, I was really laughing out loud

  • @Almo Then yes, I agree, I have actually have found Self Care to be amazingly usefull, 1/100 times, but it was the perk that gave us the comeback after three slugs were done and 4th was injured. I don't run it though. BTW, when are you guys releasing new stats? I'm very intrigued to see what you've done so far.

  • I adore Trapper, I actually am a Trapper main. And we're on the same page with quentins, hehehe

Use of Self-Care does not correlate with a lower rate of escape. So the fact that a Survivor is using Self-Care does not indicate that they lack the ability to escape.

Correlation and causality are different concepts, the fact that there's high possitive correlation between Country Chocolate Production and Amount of Nobel Prices does not mean that if we produce more chocolate we'll get more Nobel Prices.

Correlation means that A happens at the same time as B, causality means that A causes B.

But yes, Self care does not imply being a noob, I have to say that I can now escape without perks, so, I can choose to use low use perks that actually help my team every now and then like Unbreakable (I use it 1/5 games) or Self Care/Inner Strenght (I use it 1/12 games but it has helped us when 3 of us were slugged and I was injured) without me needing DS or Borrowed Time

Freddy and deathslinger because both always win against me for some reason

I hate bunny fengs, they always clicky clicky and are gods at looping

We all know about "Freddy's long arm", but Death Slinger (Micah the cowboy) is actually pretty simple to counter by swiging left and right whyle running, maybe cause I'm on console?

With the current situation of lack of killers, survivor ranks mean very little imo. I'm already 4 ranks ahead as survivor with much less playtime than killer. I don't think I've yet to come across killer that has been better than green rank. And I am absolute potato on both sides and yet I rank up easily as survivor.

Didn't steam present stats about the community actually growing? Are they all playing survivor?

    @Carlosylu @MegaWaffle I think I have you both beat

*scrapes up broken mic pieces into a plastic bag*

    Nurse on Mobile.

*Yeets plastic bag and all it's contents into the roaring crowd off stage*

*Picks up plastic bag with broken mic pieces and opens it to talk inside of the bag

What's mobile? Is that a thing?

*Closes plastic bag and puts it carefully on the floor

  • It's really helpful to get yourself moried, tunneled or camped cause the killer thinks you have a purple or rainbow key. Best item in the game, even better with addons

Which is precisely why I'm surprised that a new matchmaking system built around skill wasn't introduced years ago. There are so many false ranks out there that a makes this game incredibly imbalanced.

Ranks should be based on statistics, that's it, not on how much you play, but on how effective you are as survivor or killer

  • @Almo said:

Statistically speaking, the greater the disparity between K and S ranks, the more likely the Survivor is to escape (or not) depending on whether the difference is positive or negative.

So rank does mean something about your likelyhood to escape/die or allow escapes/get kills.

The above comment shall not be construed to mean that we think ranks are "just fine" as they are for matchmaking. MMR is on the way, and will be a better way of matchmaking. :)

Those stats are valid for me, as long as matchmaking doesn't put me against a lower rank... In which case it's a "they're loosing" situation no matter what most of the times.

  • @HellDescent said:

It does. But what people usually mean by this is red ranked players can play like yellow. Because there is nothing that separates cream of the crop from the rest of the red ranks. Boosted survivors can get carried by their teammates while boosted killers can just tunnel all game or play legion to get to red ranks

The problem is that people say this as a common thing, but it my experience it's quite the other way, I've faced more red ranks that know what they're doing than red ranks who play as yellow or grey (boosted survs). They do exist, but people saying rank doesn't matter cause of a few cases that play differently from what their rank should is just an exageration to find something to complain about.

In a general sense yes. I have found purple to be the most enjoyable ranks as survivor. You generally get competent teammates. And usually have a fun match whether or not you escape. I find red ranks too sweaty for my taste. And green is usually very mixed.

    Yes! Exactly how I feel

  • You should add a summary, just saying...

I don't think you can follow this list, as much as Nurse is the best killer, it's the hardest to learn on console, Freddy below Oni and Billie? Freddy is A tier on console and is as good as Spirit, whyle Oni and Billie are below Nurse, Spirit and Freddy, Demogorgon is pretty fun but I wouldn't say he should be below some of the ones you show, also, Myers is an S tier for me, not cause he's that good, but cause he's my nemesis... I always have problems against him... I'ts in my mind, I know...

  • @thrawn3054 said:

I'd say rather that rank doesn't mean as much as it probably should. Every color is such a mixed bag it's honestly hard to say what you'll face.

I'd say, as in my original thread, it's a matter of color, not number per se, what do you think? I say this cause most players I face of a specific color act in a common way, meaning yellow and grey as noobs, green as average player, purple as non toxic good survivor or killer and red as toxic egomaniac killer or survivor, yes, all colors with their exceptions, not everyone acts the same, but most do.

  • @CashelP14 said:

I'd say red ranks are a mix of what you said and players who are generally boosted.

The concept I have about "boosted player" is someone who asks someone else to help them rank up, is that what you mean?

  • Then, for you, rank means nothing, but It's a fact that grey and yellow survs and killers can be generalized to be "noobs", not saying everyone is, but most of them are...

Quick question... If you're a rank 12 that loops rank 1s, how are you still rank 12? Just asking cause It didn't take me much to get to red ranks after I stopped playing for 3 months and got de-ranked to 16. They practically give away pips when you know how to play, I only play about 3 hours every 2nd or 3rd day.

  • *Pics up mic up

    And you don't agree?!

    *Drops mic again

i agree with u and fixarted is also good with ligthweight but u do know rank means nothing right?

Tell the "rank means nothing" to the yellow and grey rank killers I've been looping for 5 full gens, also to the yellow and grey rank survivors I've obliterated without them doing more than 1 gen...

  • Nurse on console...

    *Drops the mic

  • If you think I could add another concept just say the word and I'll add it

  • Winning a chase:

Running the killer for 2+ gens

    Escaping the killer

The killer decides to let me go cause I outplay him

The killer DCs when chasing me

The only one I've given up on is better together. I have had multiple survivors walk right past me and my gen while running better together. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of survivors think we are not better together.

True, most times it's usefull at SWF, but yet again, you can tell others where you are so...

  • 1° Fixated is amazing comboed with sprintburst, it's faster then UE and lets you see scratchmarks to play with the killer if you add quick and quiet.

2° Inner Strenght is an 8 seconds heal whyle being hidden that also makes you cleanse totems or hexes preventing NOED or breaking killer's hex perks, add the amount of BP you use... Self Care users should actually change for this perk ans should stop wasting time slow healing

3° Better together is a shared "bond" that lets you see the killer if the gen is completed

Sure... useless perk set... I think what you meant is "I don't like the gamestyle needed to use this perks"

Xbox, rank 1 surv and killer

  • @TheOptimiser said:

The amount of people that use Self-Care in 2020 is STAGGERING...Especially at Red-Ranks...The most used perk at Red-Ranks is a perk that basically helps the killer instead of helping your 3 fellow survivors...32 seconds where you basically do nothing and help the killer find other survivors or use pop goes the weasel on gens or breaking pallets etc...And that's without Sloppy Butcher or Thanatophobia(God I love when survivors use self-care against these 2 perks...Irony...)

As a Survivor I'm literally itching my head if I see my teammates healing with Self-Care rather than getting help from another survivor which is nearby, or use Inner Strength(which is a MUCH BETTER option) or just enter the match with a med-kit and grant yourself a full fast heal, even 2 with some add-ons...

As for the killer, it's easy: NOED. It's basically the perk for killers who are not capable of playing at an optimal level to give them a pip or double pip...If you wanna become a good killer, you'd better try and abandon this perk and use this slot for another perk that can help you much more and has a better usage during the game, and maybe you will have more games where you 4k before survivors complete the last gen...I am a purple rank killer currently trying to get out of NOED from my builds and I feel this is the first healthy step in order to access higher ranks...And I've started to had quite a few good matches on killers I used to run NOED, but I'm using another perk on them now... When I see a weak killer(as a survivor) that struggles during the game, I always expect a NOED to pop out at the end...

I think we're on the same page.

About NOED, I don't know about low tier killers, I always expect NOED with clown, plague and legion regardless of if they were good in the game, and also, I expect NOED to pop if no perk was used by killer all game, meaning he probably has an end game build.

where are you when I fight in threads to say that mori/tunneling aren't uncounterable?

but anyways, people at red ranks don't use ds as anti tunneling, rather 60 seconds god mode, and also to scare the killer, since is a major momentum loss and there's no reason not to use it.

also, maybe you're not a good legion and you still need noed to win? it's the same argument you used in the lat paragraph, this should make you understand that it's not exactly right.

Moris ARE counterable, don't get hit, don't get hooked, don't get moried, I've actually made posts about this, not a popular opinion cause not every player can loop. I really think a good player's surv team is WAY easier than a god tier killer, meaning surv is way easier than killer, but I enjoy killer the most.

Yes, people at red ranks use DS as you say, sadly, I don't play much SWF, so, I get to play with useless DS in my team... As good red ranks say DS is a good perk, most players use it... Even if they don't know how to...

Maybe the problem was I didn't say this in my post, ANY PERK used by a good player, can be a good perk, but most people (most noobs) use them and don't know how or when to do so... Making them a useless perk slot.

  • @Venzhas said:

Why calling those ones noobs perks since its the most useful ones ? Just to claim "uh im so much original than playerbase im using differents perks so im not a noob" ?

    Usefull?! hehehe

Urban: fixated is 20% faster and gives you scratchmark sight so that you can outplay the killer with it and it's actually amazing mixed with BL and SB

Self Care: You heal SLOW, REALLY SLOW, Bond can cover for that and it even gives you help without being injured for you to make a flashlight save, fix faster by being with others, gets you more BP, etc. Don't even get me started with Inner Strenght, 8 secs heal whyle hidden, totem cleansing, more BP, etc.

And again, Self Care and DS are practically useless if you're a good looper or a good stealth player, no hits, no hooks, no healing needed.

    BBQ & Chili, Fight me.

  • @YaiPa said:

your thread is already invalidated by the fact that you condone noed for certain killer, it's a noob perk no matter what or it isn't at all, there aren't other options.

    also:

    • DS (If you know how not to get hit you won't get tunneled)

what does it even mean? you're probably confusing crutch perk with noob perk, basically only urban is a noob perk.

1° It's a thread looking for OPINIONS, meaning I'm not stating facts

2° "your thread is already invalidated by the fact that you condone noed for certain killer" So... I can 4k with Freddy a 4 men SWF red ranks without perks, but with Legion, as he's a weak tier killer, I need more specific perks or even a map pick to handle a good survs team. Yes... Invalidated... sure... We don't need some perks (specific for each playstyle and gamer) to get a 4k in red ranks with low tier killers...

3° I'm a good looper, and if you're not a noob player (again, IN MY OPINION) you know how to be sltealthy or how to loop the killer, no hits, no hook, no DS needed, change it for another perk

  • @Rydog said:

This is a reductive way of looking at game mechanics.

You can (and I often do) argue that something like Self-Care sees outsized usage because new players are pushed toward it and told that it is good, when it is very inefficient at its job and teaches bad habits. But there are solid use cases for a lot of strong and mid-tiers perks. I have seen people in red ranks make good use of Urban Evasion, though I personally would never use it.

Have in mind you can generalize based on statistic normality, so, in my experience, (random stats comming) about 9/10 times I see a guy with the perks I mentioned it's a noob or a toxic surv (teabagged and that's why they use DS cause they ARE gonna get tunneled and they don't know how to loop)

  • @GrootDude said:

Hawkins on both side is my favorite

I like how it looks, but not how it feels to be honest, I'm sticking with The Game, I love that map for both sides

No killer should play with red rank sfw groups. That ######### is littearly legal cheating.

In my experience as a rank 1 trapper main, red ranks SWF are fine as long as you use your mains and you don't get to play in cornfields unless your main is Billiie or Oni. I can handle a red ranks SWF without a single problem, they actually give me a challenge, and I like a hard game.

The problem against red ranks swf radicates in needed buffs for some specific killers, that's it. My point was red ranks (solo or swf) vs a new player or a grey rank killer.

  • 4, and the reasons are:

    Bill: He's my main

    Nea: I adore Nea

    Dwight: I play as Dwelf

    Kate: She's hot...

  • @MadArtillery said:

Oof ya, I've faced some killers recently in our swf group that litterally landed a single hit the entire match. Hell one of them was a pig who's hit got self cared mid chase. By then the gens were done and the pig was crawling around the map having given up on that kill with two survivors litterally following her like a conga line. She never did turn around. These baby killers really shouldn't be matched with red swf groups like seriously. I can't imagine they were thinking they had fun in the slightest.

Damn, I have some videos "chasing" the killer and he/she never looked behind, lol. Old ones though

Latest tests, popped up to 14 since folks were saying that its just 16-20 that has the weird, broader matchmaking.

First game of the day, short queue. 1, 3, 11 were all SWF. Not sure about the 6.

We all know it's just busted across the board, but there's definitely the behavior of matching against the lowest rank survivor in a lobby. Been doing this for days now.

Yesterday, again. I went vs 3 rank 20 killers one after another... ALL OF THEM without perks or addons.

  • He's amazing to play as, and one of the few scary ones to go against, I wouldn't mind. If you had said "Bubba's day", damn... I think he's really boring to go against, he never manages to get someone, and if someone messes up and he does, welcome to face camp city...

Yeah, 16 is the intended floor.

Oddly enough, I logged in a couple days ago and was 17, which confused me.

Happened to me, I left the game for 3 months as rank 1, came back to be rank 18, I don't know if it was a bug, but it did happen, and grinding back to 1 was horrible...

  • @Fraudette said:

I, quite literally, started playing two days ago, and was rather disheartened to find a lack of a casual mode or a practice/ai mode, especially since going into a match immediately after the tutorial and finding myself paired with people who have already played a fair few games had me fumbling a bit. I've learned as much as I can in that short window of time (It helped I had been watching the game for years), but I think it would be cool to see at least a practice mode, where players like me can try and test things out without the pressure of being paired with higher ranks and getting absolutely rolled haha!

Thanks for the comment, this means it's not just y perception as a red rank

  • @Fibijean said:

All of this is stuff that the new system aims to fix, as I understand it. We should only need to endure the terrible matchmaking for another month at most.

I hope so, if they fix it before releasing the new killer (that will bring new players in) it could help the number of regular users to really grow

  • @C3Tooth said:

New players just not suffer from lack number of perks (requires level 15), but also lack of various perks and level up perks all because the lack of BP. For me, all new player should start at capping BP and double BP for a week so they can grind in the game.

Everyone addicted to new games they play, Im sure double BP for a week should go well for new players.

This could add a lot too, the restrictions I mentioned + double BP could help new players stay, funny thing is we're asking for something to help others, not our role or rank per se. Hope this gets read

  • Maybe the practice mode only gives you BP but it doesn't affect your rank regardless of how you did in the match

Yeah, that's definitely something to think about too. A newbie with Deerstalker and Thrill of the Hunt (but no other hexes) probably won't do much against a couple of red ranks running BT/DS/DH/Adrenaline

Even worse man, I ran those killers for 5 gens and escaped... Just imagine... I didn't even used my perks, and tthe only meta I have is BT. In one match the killer got one of my friends and decided to face camp, I found a Flashlight in a chest, blinded him, unhooked and that was it, an instant DC...

In my honest opinion, Devs should block ranks 16-20 in terms of only being able to face killers on their color, regardless of how much time they spent waiting for a match. They need to help new killers.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 48
