  • You cannot nerf deathslinger power much without giving him 115% speed. Which i think would be healthier for the game. All 110 killers will need strong ability to make up for the lack of map pressure.

The biggest thing with DS for me is that he has very small terror radius and if you are repairing a generator where you don't have good view of surroundings he can catch you behind a corner and you are almost guaranteed being hit if he is good with a gun. At least with other killer like Myers you can have sprint burst ready and reach a pallet without being hit

  • DS needs just change that it will de-activate if you perform action which progress their objective; repair a generator or save another survivor from hook. If you can do these you aren't being tunneled, just carried with 60 second crutch.

  • I would like to see statistics for both survivor and killer perk usage. But i'm guessing they are avoiding showing them because from survivor side specially they would be quite concerning.

I remember some perk usage stats over 1 year ago which showed that in red ranks self care was most used perk?? It's funny becouse i see maybe ONE selfcare every third game in red ranks, so i don't know how they got those stats. Even iron will is much more used

  • OoO is one probably the most toxic and unfun perk there is in the whole game. It's far too strong with SWF groups on coms when they know your EXACT location at all times. This is specially crippling to trapping killers like trapper&hag.

I meant more like when they are across map teabagging you with aura, I would not walk across map to chase them is my point, in fact, my post meant exactly that, if you catch them out of position near you, hit them, down them, and proxy them out ;)

Exactly. Sometimes they just get close enough i make them waste close by pallet and move back to the other survivor. When i catch the first survivor i always soft camp so i give them the illusion that it's worth coming back to save and also keep pressure on the close by generators. If you start facecamping the first survivor you get, smart survivors will let him hang on the hook 1 minute 50 seconds until they hook trade with him while the person saved gets BT and DS.

  • I think the best way is to ignore OoO user as long as possible as they WANT to get chased. If they follow you araund if you find another survivor, now you are keeping two survivors minimum off the generators. But i must admit i always play equally toxic to survivors when there are OoO- t bagger in the game. I will just soft camp and tunnel the first survivor out who has been hooked, eat their DS if necessary.

  • It's simple supply and demand my man. They don't want to go against 80% of the customers. Obviously they will treat survivors with silk gloves compared to killers. I already accepted this long time ago i play most of the survivor now and killer dailies.

back in my day we had ds on first down that was fun couldnt even hook the guy. we also had all non obsesion have a 33% ds good luck outplaying that when people are blocking you towards the hook so current ds is the best state it is in cause all you have to do is SLUG its not hard

That DS was actually weaker than the current one. Not only the skillcheck is now bigger and much easier to hit, also other perks like enduring, unnerving no longer give any soft counters.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Whataboutism, pretty good job so far. But again: If killers wouldnt tunnel, DS wouldnt be used at all.

That's like saying if survivors wouldn't gen rush Noed wouldn't be used. But we are suggesting here to keep DS for anti tunneling and remove the crutch effect

You're right that we won't get anywhere so we can agree to disagree.

On your second point, I'm ok with repairing gens disabling DS but not healing. Especially with quick healing builds (We'll Make It, Botany) and the syringe. A killer with a one hit down power or perk, which are already powerful, would become even more powerful.

I think that is actually really good point. Assuming you got saved, healed with We'll Make It in 8 seconds to full (lose DS) and fast killer like billy, spirit nurse then can just tunnel you out.. well it wouldn't be very fair.

Right and my quote from peanits comes after that. Horvath is also saying that the original 2 minute timer went way too far beyond anti tunneling, not that it should be ONLY anti tunneling. Also in the quote he says "tunneled or farmed." That right there shows it's not strictly anti tunnel.

I think this is now he said she said which doesn't take us anywhere. It's not the first time devs have said something and then change their words. For instance MM addons which increased the tier 3 time, where addon description specifically said that it will only take longer to reach tier 3 the FIRST time. And people called out peanits for saying it is a bug when addon function and description remained the same for years literally. Also they called killer seeing hooked survivor auras "bug" after they removed it and later reverted it again.

Anyways many people think Decisive strike is poorly designed perk currently which could be changed to be actual anti tunneling perk while still remaining strong. Devs always preach how they think players should work to make perks do something. There is literally no reguirements for DS. Get hooked, gain 60 second immunity 2x to do what ever you like. I think it should de-activate if you touch a generator or/ and get fully healed.

  • DECISIVE STRIKE Q&A WITH HORVATH | FEBRUARY 22, 2019

Today we did a Q&A session on discord with Stefan Horvath about the upcoming changes on Decisive Strike.

So here are below the answers given by our Game Designer/Stefan Horvath.

QUESTION: WHAT LED TO THE DECISION TO PUT THE TIMER ON DECISIVE STRIKE?

-------------------------Horvath: We decided to put a timer on Decisive Strike as one of the solutions to Decisive Strike being used too often, we tried 2 minutes internally and found that players were able to use DS a long time after being unhooked, where it no longer serves the purpose to protect you from being tunneled/ farmed----------------------"

They have stated on this very forum that DS was not designed to be anti tunneling

Can you link me that quote? i remember watching dev stream when they introduced reworked DS and they said it's now anti tunneling perk.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

The devs have said that DS is not strictly an anti-tunneling perk.

That's not true. DS was designed to be anti tunneling perk and they have said this many times. They also mention that people should work to make the perk work. Like with pop you need to hook a survivor and then find generator that has been worked on under 60 seconds, put pressure with ruin to make it work etc. There is zero reguirements for DS, get hooked (failing) and get free 60 second immunity to do what ever you like

  • My guess is that the overheat system will stay and they probably buff his numbers just by 25% less punishable (which is still not enough) Most of hillbilly's addons are meme level like gain bloodlust 1 when survivor is flashing you with flashlight? If survivor is flashing you in the open you are dealing with rank 20s

Honestly it's not hard to chase a survivor for 30 seconds with your back facing them. You know how killers look away from the obsession to gain play with your food tokens right ? They can do this to chase a survivor for 30 seconds and the game won't even realize it.

Now for the 3 second gen repair thingy. What if the killer actually mindgames you into thinking he left you even though he knows exactly where you are ( talking about mikey, ghost face or piggy and others ), the gen you were working on is 90% and you start working on the gen to pop that adrenaline and BOOM the killer downs you after waiting for 5 seconds just like how some killers wait for BT to be over when chasing someone.

The solution is that don't tunnel the generator? go repair another one

  • Let's be honest.. how often do you actually "crash" out which gives you a penalty. 99% of the dc's happen when survivor is downed early first 15-20 seconds of the game. It's funny how "crashes" always happen this way.. Now, if your argument will be that "people should be allowed to choose if they want to play or not" That's true, but there are disconnect penalties in other games as well. This is not single player where u can stop playing as you please. Can you imagine playing football with friends and then you quit first 30 seconds of the match? Pretty sure you won't be invited next time.

  • @mottigedel said:

DS is perfectly fine like it is. it's ment for more dynamo during the matches, where a survivor is being hardcore tunneled. it's mandatory these days and is in a perfect spot. It gives a bit of fun too for survivors to do extra things when not being tunneled. don't take this away from the already heavily stripped down surivvor play. i know you main killers want this but we are allowed to have fun too

Devs have said multiple times that DS was designed to be anti tunneling perk, which it isn't but just "immunity for 60 seconds"

Scott puts nicely how broken DS currently is and few changes can make it actual anti tunneling perk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_vLlMdu1Sc

I feel like people who play with the Killer they have the most problem with can gain some type of knowledge on how to face that Killer. As said above to someone else I was having a discussion with in here; I HATED Freddy, I still kind of do, but I was having so much trouble figuring out how to play against the new and improved Freddy.

I wasn’t here when they buffed him so I came back to practically a new Killer and because I was having such a hard time adapting to him, I bought him and put hours in with him to figure him out (how his kit works with different add-ons, how his lunge is because it always seemed pretty large to me, how to mind-game and also to watch the Survivors that did really well against me play). Now I can face him, even though I can’t stand em but it’s better now.

    Edit: spaced out my paragraphs.

Freddy is quite easy killer to transition and still do well with him. He can be quite oppressive for solo survivors, but against even mediocre SWF he will struggle.

  • @Unicorn said:

In my opinion Billy didn’t need to be nerfed, and neither does Spirit. Billy WAS the most balanced Killer in the game, now he’s just meh. But, I actually enjoy Spirit games. It’s fun trying to figure out where she’s gonna mind game you post-phase. Pleaseeeee, don’t start witch-hunting her. If you have different feelings about both Killers than mine, feel free to post here and we can have a debate/discussion.

Well it's never ending cycle. Back in the day when nurse was by far the strongest killer people were saying "oh spirit is what nurse should have been" Then nurse got nerfed they just moved to cry abaut spirit. After spirit got nerfed they said she is now "balanced and takes skill now" then complains abaut Freddy, Billy.. and now back to the old spirit, since her nerf wasn't as severe as they did with nurse and billy. Now they are still complaining abaut spirit, Freddy boi. If they get nerfed i can bet next one in line will be hag

  • @RaSavage42 said:

I don't think there is a "second chance" perk... so I'll explain

DS: you have to be hooked in the first place... what second chance are you getting?

BT: if killers are away from the hook it won't activate... where's the second chance (side note if I'm running STBFL I'll hit you anyway)

Unbreakable: you lost the chase and have an oppertunity to pick yourself up... Barely a second chance

DH: you lose the first half of a chase to be able to dodge an attack... Not exactly a second chance

Adrenaline: end game perk... What second chance do you get if yer dead before the end game starts?

    Anymore "second chance" perks

Out of those DS is definitely the biggest crutch. Who on earth thought 60 second immunity 2x during the game wouldn't be abused? There are scenarios where other survivor with BT saves the survivor 5 seconds after the hooking and then he has BT active for 15 seconds, bodyblocking you so you cannot hit the person who saved him. If you go after the person who got unhooked you will need to deal with the BT, and also the DS. Unbreakable is not that big of a crutch because it's situational, but one unbreakable in the game can turn lose into win if the killer slugs

  • Decisive strike just need few small changes to it while still remaining very strong anti tunneling perk.

DS should de-activate anytime you go touch a generator, and or get fully healed. If these conditions happen you aren't being tunneled just carried with a 60 second crutch immunity

  • @I_am_Negan said:

    DS don't tunnel

    borrowed time don't camp

Unbreakable don't slug and if you do it's only one time they can get up

Just don't go down when you face ebony mori noed spirit. Pretty much same thing

  • I think Noed is equally fair as survivors DS. Neither of them are fair. But if you are willing to nerf DS in exchange you can remove noed all i care

Why is every post of you a total facepalm? He wasnt overperforming otherwise devs would not state they are happy how he performs.

I don't see how billy made trapper worthless. Still waiting for you to show off your billy skills as everything is so easy with him.

    When you gonna upload?

I've challenged him to face me with his "overpowered" Billy multiple times. Always declined. With this new shadow of a former self billy it would be actually hilarious.

I don't get this logic. If he was the weakest then he would be the one killer players would be asking to be buffed on a regular basis. But its not. Legion, Clown, Bubba, Trapper, Freddy before his rework, Doc before his rework etc were killers that were constantly being champed for reworks because they were seen as weak. Not Myers.

Myers could use some little tweaks, mostly to his early game, but overall he is in a good spot. You don't see survivors complain about him, and you don't see constant buff Myers topics from killers because he is a fun and balanced killer for most players.

Thats partially true. Legion, Doc, Freddy were changed because they were very punishing for rank 20 survivors. So they were changed not because they were weak, but they were found annoying to go against.

  • The most balanced killer would be obviously the weakest. Like you said, survivors find michael most balanced because he has A LOT of counterplay.

    Soon TM...

But I'd like to see what happens to killer perks along side that

I guess we will be waiting. But in my opinion DS at current state is the STRONGEST perk of the whole game. Not any killer perk comes even close.

    Full article on Ruin:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117488/designer-notes-doctor-gatekeeper-hex-ruin

    Short version:

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

Are you planning to rework DS to be less oppressive to the point when it's actual anti tunneling perk? such as de-activating DS when survivor goes to repair generator, or gets fully healed? (obviously not being tunneled)

  • Only bad survivors had problems against hillbilly. I'm a survivor main and i did just fine. The killer that can cause problems were spirit if they were good, but after the nerf i've seen wayy less spirits

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1425148#Comment_1425148

id rather spirit get a full rework to make her fun to face when she uses stridor.

the freddy "nerf" youre on about, where he loses bloodlust using his power (which shouldve happened in the first place with his power because thats what happens when people use their power). also forever freddy was nerfed, and i mean if you need forever freddy to do well youre not that good of a killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1425149#Comment_1425149

i agree most of the time they go over the top, and considering how they said billy was balanced. the only thing i can hope- only thing is that theyre nerfing strong killers now and then superbuff killers across the board (cause, say if maps get smaller again, then killers like nurse and billy would be busted. freddy is technically okay because hed still make it to the gen at the same time since he just teleports to it).

Never said anything if Freddy nerf was deserved or not. The point was HE WAS nerfed like i originally said. Where you said he was only "reworked" to be stronger. Also Freddy was nerfed 2 weeks later after he was brought to dbd because rank 20 survivors cried and review bombed the game. So Freddy boi has been nerfed 2 times actually

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1424991#Comment_1424991

okay but the spirit nerf didnt change of the issues survivors have with her, and if you think the freddy rework was a nerf not a buff idk what to tell you

I know survivors wasn't happy with spirit nerf; she wasn't gutted like billy and nurse. Secondly Freddy was nerfed AFTER his rework. I played this game nearly 4 years so i remember most nerfs and buffs

  • Survivors are majority of the playerbase. So obviously they will always be slightly biased towards them. Couple years ago they said that they would be too scared to nerf billy and they have been gaining courage by nerfing less used killers like; nurse, spirit, freddy etc. If you cannot accept this fact that you need to switch playing survivor (like i did) or just quit playing. Nothing will change

  • @ClickyClicky said:

The day NOED gets gutted too

Im perfectly fine if they delete both perks. Both reward for failure. So i think both perks should receive hard nerfs

  • @LordRegal said:

I hate agreeing that this is worse than Nurse's nerf, since I used to main Nurse and I've never been a good Billy, but yeah...it's worse. It really is. I cannot fathom why they thought they needed to gut him this badly when they were actively happy with how he performed.

Yeah at least with the nurse you almost get her old base kit back with cooldown addons. Billy looks just pathetic lmao

  • You sound like a player who runs after the killer with flashlight clicking and refuses to touch any of the generators. When your time comes to shine and blind the killer for flashlight save.. you mess up the timing. Eventually all of us survivors die

  • @Angelicus23 said:

by the time someone gets healed and chased, ds shold be off if you didn't tunnel.

yo can still counter it with unbreakable by staring over the survivor if they get up

They can stare at me all they want. By the time 60 seconds is run out it cost the killer 2 generators for "countering" my DS 😂

  • To be fair DS at current form is a crutch. It should be toned down

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1410308#Comment_1410308

I think you should work on your reading comprehension. Or maybe you are not used to so much text and prefer pictures?

"Dont act like Killers get constant Nerfs, the Survivor Side got way more Nerfs (which were also justified) than Killers."

    (which were also justified)

    (which were also justified)

    Got it?

He is saying that there was A LOT more room to nerf survivors than there was to nerf killers. So yes obviously survivors have received more nerfs because they have been ridiculously strong. From what i remember killer vaulting was 3 SECONDS long, survivor vaults were even faster to the point even normal jungle gyms were near infinites

  • @RockoRango said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/168164/oh-the-famous-add-on-pass-again-just-slap-a-cooldown-bar-into-every-killer-and-be-done-with-it

Nurse's basekit wasn't fine, it needed some toning down. Although, I agree it was too much.

Wait until it comes into the PTB and start complaining; This won't do anything but make the minimum skill required to play him a teeny bit more.

I have faced like 10 nurses since her ner... cough rework. Most of the time they aren't doing too well either. Maybe these god nurses exist somewhere but i don't see them

  • It was quite obvious. Now there will be far less Billys and next crying will be abaut spirit.. again. You can mark my words

  • Well time to play only survivor again. I remember that devs said that chainsaw killers will only get addon update? doesn't seem like it

  • Your idea wouldn't be that bad if the DS de-activated instantly as you touch the generator or get fully healed. / if you can do these you aren't being tunneled.

  • So why do you want to buff the strongest perk of the game? there is not a single killer perk that comes to same par as DS. Yet you are asking more buffs 👌

  • Let's be honest that going against 4-man SWF is not fun experience. It doesn't take long to check if they are SWF or not. Just check their profile friends ctrl+f and see if they are friends together. If most profiles are private then it's ez dodge. At evening i get instant killer lobbies so it doesn't matter

  • I don't mind noed nerf as long survivor equivalent DS gets rework as well. To me both reward for failure

  • But killer doesn't get benefit of bbq, pop, myc or any other perks like that either. So it makes sense if DS, borrowed and adrenaline don't work either. However i think killer shouldn't see aura of caged survivor

  • @OutcastEric said:

this will never happen because the lobby queue times would increase exponentially and its already a nightmare to get out of low ranks as a solo survivor. Just saying. What if you get 1 hooked by the killer and nobody did gens? Would instantly tarnish your record and would likely get people who care about how other people play causing them to dodge your game. Look how badly the timeout ban effects this game when usually its completly out of your control due to servers when you have to sit through it. Imagine your teammates infinitely dodging YOUR games as a solo player.

What is your solution to this problem?

  • They are biased towards new players, survivors. I remember from stats that roughly like 1% of the players have reached rank 1, so they don't care that much of high rank game play. You can see this from most of the updates and actions they make. Such as nerfing ruin to be less oppressive for new players (and overall weaker) ignoring how fast gens can go already in high ranks.

Most of the perks they also nerf they usually do small nerfs to survivor meta perks (exception of MoM, Sabo). But other survivor meta perks like sprint burst, DS have received multiple nerfs while still being meta. They are usually very cautious before making big changes to survivor perks or gameplay. Often times when killer meta perks get just ONE nerf they are no longer meta perks at all; STBFL, IG, spies, toth, unrelenting, ruin..

  • It's still possible to get flashlight saves even if killer is using lightborn, you need to start blinding almost beginning of the animation (depends what flashlight you are using)

I remember testing it with purple flash and it was still possible to blind the killer when he is doing pallet breaking animation, but if he used brutal strength + flashlight it's impossible.
