    Huh. This is pretty good

  • I wish I was hyped for a reskinned clone and weak character

  • ...and then there's me who couldn't care less about a reskined clone and weak character.

  • I never heard a tip. I just learned through experience.

  • The made up rules part cracked me up xD

  • Call me weird but I personally like the Wraith's most because of how he drags you back. That action in itself says a lot about how much he thinks of that survivor he's slaughtering.

  • When a survivor is looping you, use Insidious when you know they can't see you and they'll literally walk into you.

    Looting my stuff.
Taking up a random piece of floor for the Hatch.
    Sabotaging my furniture.
Calling me cancer and telling me i should die once the night's over.

Horrible, horrible times i tell you.

  • It's because survivor is such a cake walk that crappy survivors with only rank 20 skills can reach rank 1. I mean our poor survivors need to feel special somehow lol

  • The movie was garbage tho. I went and saw it and it felt like it was trying to be more of a corny thriller than a horror movie. Hell at one of the quiet parts I yelled, 'Is it scary yet?' and the people in the room laughed.

  • Yeah I've had that happen to me more than a fair amount. That's when you know they're SWF for certain because they normally have to coordinate that scummy move in order to make it happen. The best thing you can do about it is accepting it and move on since there really isn't anything else you can do. You can report it but that'll do as much good as poking a roadkill on the side of the road in hopes that it'll come back to life.

  • Well the thing is with Asymmetrical multiplayer games is that it's a rather recent genre that only popped up a few years ago.(At least from my point of view. I may be wrong) I mean the first one I ever played was Evolve and you bet your butt I was a monster player. But my point is that Asymmentrical balance isn't fixed by bending the branches when the core of the imbalance is the root of the problem. Now may I ask, what do you think is the core of the imbalance? Because I have a theory of my own and I'd be happy to discuss it with you.

Yeah the remake kinda set up like an odd and hard-to-explain conundrum with Freddy and his abilities. But for DbD's lore, doesn't the Entity alter their powers in ways for them to work within its realm?

It does but you can't go that crazy with it.

    Licenses and all that jazz.

Since Freddy's terror radius is a lullaby, it makes the survivors sleepy and which then activates his phasing animation and allows him to hit them in healthy state. Now if the survivors were to be working on gens, then they are still vulnerable to be grabbed since they would be in his terror radius. What do ya think?

The problem is then he'll play like the Doctor. I think the devs rather want each killer to be unique in their powers then have similarities between them.

I mean look at Hillbilly and Leatherface. Both killers are similar in design but their powers are completely different from each other.

I don't mind it but I just think it's going to be too much work for a killer that is licensed.

Well within the Doctor's radius during Treatment mode, it causes the survivors to scream and give away their position. What I was thinking was within Freddy's radius, it just makes it so he can hit them without them having that highlighted visual effect when within the Dream World but you may be right about the whole licensing thing since I'm ignorant on how that would affect the Devs' influence on his role in their game. I thought that once they got permission to use the character, they could do whatever they wanted as long as it fit the character's natural characteristics. I may be wrong though. And it might be a little too much work as you said.

Now while I was waiting for you to reply, I actually thought about my idea that I typed earlier with Freddy's kit and I thought, "To make it lore friendly, what if Freddy can hit survivors that are awake because they get sleepy within his terror radius which is a lullaby after all, but has to pull them into the Dream State to actually hit them again and down them?" Also when within his Terror radius, you can seen Freddy doing the 'phase' animation like he does when he puts you to sleep so he isn't fully invisible. And then pairing my idea with yours and I think it would really help Freddy and compliment him as a character.

The issue with the lore thing isn't that Freddy can't hit survivors when their awake. It just seems like that but the survivors are actually dreaming. It's kinda odd to explain without watching the remake.

One of his rare strengths is the ability to not notify where he's coming from until he finds you. Makes it easier to keep tabs on the survivors and ambush them. I would much rather Freddy can hit survivors during the phasing effect when he tags them then outright hit them whenever the survivors are in his terror radius. That way the survivors can't mess around on the generators without getting grabbed.

Yeah the remake kinda set up like an odd and hard-to-explain conundrum with Freddy and his abilities. But for DbD's lore, doesn't the Entity alter their powers in ways for them to work within its realm? I never really got into the lore to know everything but I know I read somewhere that the Entity alters their powers. And think about it.

And that you are too correct. Now I know you said you don't like talking about ideas, but without ideas, how would anything have aspired in the first place? So my question to you is, 'What is your idea to fixing this current problem with Freddy?' Tbh with his kit and how it operates, it's baffling me and I've thought about it a lot as well and so maybe you thought of something that I didn't and I'd like to know what you have in mind. Like I've thought about maybe making it so Freddy could hit the survivors in healthy state that are awake but has to drag them into the Dream World to finish them off but I feel that might be too much and doesn't seem lore friendly.

Basically, here's my primary goal with Freddy. Make him less tedious for both sides that play against him.

Survivors don't like how they can't juke him and his tunnelling abilities are obnoxious.

Freddy mains don't like how they are forced to sit around and wait for the survivors to fully transition before hitting them.

Secondary goal is to see what the devs are capable of doing in their game since they have a lot of limitations apparently. The devs will probably adjusted him numbers wise, so if anything Freddy is still going to still somewhat play the same way.

    So here's my take:
    1. Reduce the dream transition timer to 4 or 5 seconds
    2. Remove the ability to wake up unless it's on a generator or from awake survivors.
    3. Give survivors a choice on whether they want to either stay asleep and be able to hide from Freddy but suffer from a slowdown or wake up and risk revealing themselves to him put can work normally.
    4. Freddy movement speed add-ons are pointless. Give him something else maybe how long the auras are revealed against awake survivors.
    5. Make it so healing speed isn't reduced when the survivors are on the ground.
    6. Give him more benefits the more survivor are put to sleep.
    7. Black box is gimmicky as #########. It only works for specific builds. Replace it with the obsession is unable to wake up at all.

And I was right. You did think of things I didn't. I have a question though. For your 3rd idea, the way I read it is that you want the current aura ability of Freddy to be reversed. As in he can see the auras of the survivors while they are awake but can't see their auras while they are in the Dream State? If I read that correctly, I REALLY like that idea. Your 6th idea seems interesting too. It might need some adjusting and tweaking but what idea doesn't? lol As for your 7th idea, I agree that it is gimmicky as ######### and does need a rework. Since it's an Ultra Rare add-on as well, maybe making the obsession always asleep is a good idea.

Now while I was waiting for you to reply, I actually thought about my idea that I typed earlier with Freddy's kit and I thought, "To make it lore friendly, what if Freddy can hit survivors that are awake because they get sleepy within his terror radius which is a lullaby after all, but has to pull them into the Dream State to actually hit them again and down them?" Personally, I don't like talking about ideas.

Rather talk about stuff that's being confirmed for their updates. Keeps it much less insane.

I've been thinking about Freddy (since I play him a lot, even at high ranks) and my main issue with him is this. He excels to much in the dream world and not enough when the survivors are awake. He basically has too many counters against his kit, but since he doesn't have anything to help him against awake survivors he suffers more then a killer usually would.

And that you are too correct. Now I know you said you don't like talking about ideas, but without ideas, how would anything have aspired in the first place? Yeah I have a habit of butting heads on this forum.

Must be because of my Aussie pride.

Ugh don't get me started on feminism. It's a damn joke these days lol

As for your first question, tbh the balance doesn't feel much better from release but instead feels like the angle from which it comes from has shifted to another spectrum that has very similar consequences but that's only because the symptoms of the imbalance have only been treated/tweaked instead of the core of the problem itself.

As for your second question, yes that was a good change but then again, that was only a symptom.

As for your third question. HELL YES IT WAS GOOD lol and I'm sure you agree with that too.

As for your fourth question, I'm not too sure tbh. With the devs and their history on the Killer side, it's very iffy to claim that the killer experience will get better. Yes there have been good changes, but those changes were put there by the devs in the first place.

I'd say I'm pretty good. I even went against VincentV3ga on one of his streams as my fav killer the Trapper, and he said that I may have broken his record for being trapped the most in a single round. I trapped him 4 times alone and that's not counting how many times his teammates got trapped and his audience was calling me the Trap God during the match. As for how I play Trapper, I don't just place my Trap at windows and pallets, I actually place them in popular routes; even routes that are kinda 'out there' if you catch my drift and a lot of the time, they actually work.

It's good that you butt heads. It challenges people to actually have to support their ideals which helps either makes their point actually plausible or not. • What's funny is that when a player tries to say Freddy is fine, it's only because they versed crappy survivors since getting to rank 1 as survivor is just as easy as drawing a turkey with your hand and thus get a false representation of his balance which leads to them all of a sudden thinking Freddy is fine.

  • @needreplay said:
small game perk designed to "find ruin" but not so good at finding

    killer has no weakpoint now.

That middle sentence you wrote. Have you ever written a sentence before?

  • I read your post and the whole basis was good but then all of a sudden you think the Devs need nerf the only 2 viable killers just to buff the others? That's where I question your logic. Tbh, I completely disagree with the route that your presented in your thesis on the game's balance. In my personal beliefs, I feel the way to fix the balance isn't to attack the symptoms of the imbalance but the disease of imbalance itself.

So far this game is balanced in favor of survivors in the three main scenarios; chases, objectives, and time.

In chases, the survivors have the upper hand due to pallets and the number of them, their hitboxes being smaller and thus being able to be used to almost fully negate the killer's movement speed, and even due to the maps and their overall design with certain areas being heavily influenced to favor the survivor over the killer.

In the objective category, the survivors have the upper hand substantially. The survivors only have 7 total objectives with the 5 generators and the 2 doors split amongst 4 people. The killer has 3 objectives for each survivor due to having to hook them 3 times each, 5 more objectives with defending the generators, and if you wanna count guarding the doors, 2 more objectives on top of that. So let's do the math. 3 hooks for 4 survivors equals 12 objectives, then add the 5 for defending the gens which is 17 objectives and then add the 2 for the doors which in total adds to 19 objectives for 1 person to manage which in terms, explains why killer is much more stressful than survivor.

Now let's take into account the time category. Each generator takes like 80 seconds (I never took the time to learn the exact number but I digress) without an item/addon or perk setup (like Leader) assisting and that's to fully complete the generator/objective while for killer, it can take longer than 2 minutes to just hook a survivor once. So in other words, the survivors get 1/7 objectives completed in the time it takes for the killer to get 1/19 objectives completed. Now remember, those 7 objectives are split between 4 people who can work on the generators simultaneously while the killer is left with themselves to do just that 1 objective which again adds to the overall stress of playing killer.

Now with those points I put on the table, it surprises me that no one thinks about it this way because what I stated IS the core of the imbalance; not perks, not addons, and not killer powers. For years I've thought about this issue and yet no one, not even the devs, seem to think about it from this angle which has baffled me for so long. I honestly do not know why people seem to try to treat the symptoms over the disease itself. Now if this were to be fixed (which is possible btw), that's when the devs should focus on the characters and map changes and all that.

  • I approve of this idea.

You'll just have to get used to it. It's fairly clear and obvious after 2 years the developers cultivate and profit off the game being clearly one-sided and encourage the most toxic attitudes. It's sad but true.

  • Camping is just one of those issues that can't be helped. When I played Killer, I never camped since it was so boring. It's just something you need to take with a grain of salt and move on.

It isn't the buff killers need. Actually, it has more to do with the overall game's mechanics that need readjusting. Killers aren't hindered because they are weak, they are actually hindered because the game's mechanics make them weak. Like I wonder how strong Freddy would be if games weren't able to be ended in less than 4 minutes due to how fast the gen can be completed which is a game mechanic.

Depends what you mean by fun in this game. Because it won't be the same for everyone.
For me it's fun when I play against good killers, when I mostly have to rely on mind games and when I feel pressure.
For someone else it's fun if they can mess with killer or/and survivors.
And some people find it fun only if they're winning.
If you don't enjoy playing against a good killers then you can just stay in lower ranks.

Besides buffs and nerfs won't help that much. You can have insta hachets with all the best perks and lose or you can play as Freddy without perks and add-ons and get 4k. It all depends mostly on how well you know game mechanics and characters abilities not on buffs, nerfs, perks or add-ons. Generally speaking it depends on your intelligence.

I enjoy playing against good killers myself. My point is that, for some reason, devs are passing by the Nurse, who is definitely way above any other killer in the game. Of course, she does take more skill to play her good. But tell me that, do you think there is a difference between a good nurse or a good billy/huntress? Are these match ups equally same for survivors? I do not think so. Nurse, by her core design, is omitting the whole game (pallets, windows, distance gain).

By the way, @CallMeRusty420, "gitting gud" against a good nurse is not an option.

    Why isn't it an option?

    Is this a serious request???

Well it is from a survivor. Survivor players request stuff like this all the time and in the past, they have actually received some of the ridiculous requests before.

    looks at Freddy's grave

Soon they'll be asking for firearms to fight off the killers.

They already have believe it or not.

  • This is how the devs made their game for the 1 role that makes this game not a mechanic simulator. Kinda ironic isn't it?

  • You're calling the killers sweaty and yet you're the one who's fuming and complaining about rank 15 games on the forums. Irony is ironic.

  • What about us killers? How is it 'fun' to run in circles over and over again? How is it 'fun' that from the beginning of the game up to now that survivors got cheap and OP perks and yet we got Freddy nerfed to the ground only a week after his release because of crying rank 20s? How is it 'fun' to outplay the survivors multiple times throughout the match and yet the game itself carries the survivors to an easy escape? How is it 'fun' to have 4 entitled douchebags calling you names and even go so far as death threats just because they went for an already broken pallet? How is it 'fun' to know that even before the match begins, that you basically lost? How is it 'fun' to have bought a game that advertises the killer as the power role to actually learn that t's not? I can go on. I really can. But if you're having trouble as survivor, then you need to git gud. If you wanna see REAL hell, come to the killer side and see why some killers may camp or tunnel. I never did and yet I'd still get BM'd. Survivor is literally a vacation compared to killer. Also if you wanna know why you're versing a lot of Nurse's it's because Nurse is the only Killer that is on par against the imbalance that makes survivor such a cakewalk in comparison.

    Ew what is this?

Oh god no wonder it smells like toxicity and entitlement.

Yeh why dont you read some of my comments before you say ######### like that, I didn't ask to escape, i asked my first hook to be my last, am i the only killer main who doesn't automatically call a survivor toxic for saying soemthing is unfair. Do you see ds, sprint burst, self care, no, as im not toxic, the killer is the toxic person here for getting salty and deciding to end my game even though it's no more fun for him.

Oh god the smell got worse!

Let me guess your a face camper too, im not the one who smells of toxicity mate

You know it! I facecamp from across the map :chuffed:

Well if you leave the hook then why defend a face camper

I don't recall ever saying that I'm defending anyone. So Mr./Mrs. Physic, what number am I thinking of since apparently you know every motive behind other peoples' posts :P
