  • No. Camping should be simply a strategy that is not suggestible because of its low success rate. With a few words, you can do that, but it isn't a good idea.

  • No.

You're asking too much. I'm a hybrid player and even tho I understand what you want, it will simply make the game close to impossible in solo queue.

"lower genspeed ( the speed of the survivors is too fast, if you play a standard killer without map pressure you can just play the 3 stens who are opefully close together, thats all otherwise you will lose the game)"

You should play strategically and use gen regression perks in order to win in this game. Yes, if you play Clown without corrupt then expect 3 gens to be popped in one minute, but the game isn't over. You have 2 more gens left that are probably close to each other.

"add 1-3 more gens. (more generators would mean more time to catch and kill the survivors, a slowly game because you are not so much stresses and the survivors have something to do for their points)"

What do you mean?! 1-3 generators is an insanely big nerf. There are killers in red ranks that can completely destroy a survivor team with 5 gens left, and you want to add 1-3 more gens to that. The gen number is fine, you need to simply improve and end chases sooner.

"generator Lifetime ( i dont know how i shall describe this topic. what about what about a lifetime for generators. if the gen is made he has an online lifetime to work maybe 6-8 minutes after that it gets off and lose 10% of the progress. so survivors have to go back to it and get a signal to reanimate the gen again.)"

Again, no. When a generator is completed, it's completed. You shouldn't have to go back and redo something you did. Imagine there is one gen left and there are 3 people left. Suddenly there are 4 gens left because the game lasted long. The survivors will have to refix the other 3 generator 8 seconds each (resulting in a 24 second delay) and then go back to apply pressure to the other gens to finish the last one. Incredibly unfun from the survivors perspective.

I can describe what you just said in one sentence:

    Delete survivors.

There we go, the game is balanced now :)

  • Please don't put a Spanish translation, there is a Spanish section that would be helpful to you.

Yes premades and genrush is a problem and there are some ideas posted here, but not every idea is a good one. We'll see in the near future since after the new matchmaking is implemented the devs will have a clearer picture of the unbalanced nature of gens and swf, resulting in hopefully some nerfs.

  • I doubt it. Unfortunately I turn this into a lore post but, technically the killers could refer to themselves by their names. Why should Sally call herself Nurse for example? Or Evan trapper? If you think about it, it makes sense why the naming is kinda weird, otherwise why isn't the cannibal named leatherface?

Btw I don't think I am overthinking this subject, it just occurred to me as odd yesterday when I was going through the killers.

  • Guess we'll know today m8

What I've read here I have no confidence that devs are actually going to fix matchmaking. Might as well quit the game because devs clearly do not want new players to play the game.

Remember a while back were devs reworked hex: ruin? People said that it was the worst move and blamed the devs whilst calling them names. Guess what tho, the nerf simply changed the meta and killers don't have to rely on one perk.

If you play a pvp and don't believe in the devs, might as well quit the game. After all, if you somehow liked the game, it's because the devs made a good job making it, correct?

what would be skillful about opening a gate?

would it be like, man i really have to be careful to keep my hand on this lever... nailed it!

I also specifically said that it doesn't make sense to add skillchecks on a lever, so the gate system will need a visual update.

  • @Zarr0ch said:

I dont see a point in skill checks on a gate, if the team has done 5 gens, they can do skill checks.

I do think it could be a good idea to have the gate lose power over time, so if you 99% it, then run off, it will be..say 70% when you get back *whatever time frames it has*

If you were to add skill checks, then maybe a skill check to the hatch if using a key, 5 seconds to open lock with a skill check. Then the surv cant stand on it and wait for the killer to find them for no reason other than delaying the end of the match potentially and getting virtual me me me points.

I said it can regress till 75%. I agree on your key idea. The gates should have skillcheck imo because it's a primary objective that's all :)

  • Just like I say to every similar forum like this, it's gonna be fixed soon. They're working on it relax.

  • Not as easy as it sounds. They need to get permission first by the company that worked with bhvr for the dlc, it could take some time.

That sounds more like a personal achievement than a generalization about how little skill the spirit takes. Nothing about that killer takes any skill whatsoever, she's an M1 killer extraordinaire with one of the most boring abilities. At least wraith takes skill.

I don't know anyone that just played spirit and got 4ks every game tbh. And I know lots of killer mains. I bet that you haven't played her too, at least at red ranks, If you think it's that easy.

  • @Yogerman1997 said:

to balance her you should pick one of these options:

1.She had the actual phase speed but she can't hear anything.

2.She had the actual tracking abilities but she had the regular movement speed 110% while phasing.

actually she had the "invisibility" + "ultraspeed" advantage, very unfun to against

Yeah but she'not worth reworking. These answers btw would make her worst than old Freddy imo

  • @PalletsAndHooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154145/rare-opinion-spirit-is-actually-balanced

I don't think anyone ever said she wasn't balanced, I was sure that most people and myself have exclaimed at how little skill it takes to play Spirit.

There are no 50/50 mindgames with spirit, you either drop the pallet on one side or quietly vault to the other. Otherwise, you already ran away because directly mindgaming a spirit is how you end up on the hook.

Both urban evasion and fixated work well against, but dance with me could be an alternative if you aren't actively putting distance between yourself and Spirit. That's really all there is to it for both sides.

Spirits require no brain power whatsoever to be effective. Basically, the best M1 killer in the game, given that her killer power does not conflict or delay her ability to M1 immediately. Survivors have a really simple approach to counter her, simply by actively evading at any sign of her approach.

Unlike Billy or Nurse who suddenly show up and starts up a chase with their power, Spirit gives off her audio cue ahead of time and attempts to quickly end any chase with her power, more like huntress but without a skill shot (or really any skill).

I'll inform you that it took me more than a month to learn how to play with her, and after 2 months of playing her I can safely say I'm not even close on mastering her. Don't compare spirits difficulty to Freddy's

I've won against some of the best killers on PS4 (showstopper playing Freddy for example. If 4 top survivors of my skill level got 4k'd by the best bubba 3/5 matches (no moris no keys) I would indeed think bubba is op.

I see your point though. But it would be great to see you two showcase consistent counterplay

Also average of 12 second for 1 hit against by Scott against one of the best players (Zubat) https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=806

I would also want to tbh

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290967#Comment_1290967

Its not a 50/50 . https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=547 assuming you are not giving off audio cues, at max, if there spirit is deaf and ideal conditions it is a 75/25. As you have to make two correct guesses to "mind game". If you are injured, it's almost a 99/1 I'm spirits favor. There is no way to read spirit's phasing, and there is no way to not avoid ever being caught in a chase where spirit doesn't phase.

You counter tips are also just guessing. If you guess right, which is unlikely as already due to phasing obviously being in favor of spirit, you have to guess again in a few seconds. And you cannot deny information if the killer has headphones or you are injured. Even walking has audio.

As for vaulting from window to window, what do I do if there is no L-wall t-wall near me or I don't spawn on Lerry's. What do I do if I am injured and spirit pinpoints me on the L-wall really jukes. If you have any tips to counter spirit while injured I'd love to hear them.

Solo vs swf does not impact the 1v1 chase interaction which is being discussed.

Conditioning or "learning patterns" is a weak argument (time-stamped): https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=695 are you sure you watched his videos?

He had some bad games in the 2hr video, and they were still good examples of lack of counterplay.

"Spirit only has a finite number of things she can do while phasing, if you know what that is and the pick a tactic that would counter all or most of that the best you can outplay her consistently. Yes, sometimes it's a 50/50 and you just have to pick one and cross your fingers but those actual instances are rare."

Ha. You definitely did not watch the theory craft video. I'm not even sure why I waste my time here discussing this with you when every point you've made has already been countered and addressed in Scott's 4 videos on spirit https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=547 .

Do you have any counterpoints he did not address?

"By rare I mean that most survivors make stupid decisions. It's RARE to get a survivor that doesn't make stupid decision or use lame tricks to try and beat a Spirit. They use completely valid tactics that anyone can do but the problem is MOST survivors don't actually think about what they are doing. "

It's called guessing. There is no information to go off of. If good survivors are consistently being potatoes against mediocre spirits instead of consistently out playing her, more than a year after release, maybe there is a design flaw. Just a guess.

"Like really, if you see a Spirit standing still do a fake like you are going to run in one direction, change directions and bolt to another tile. " https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=547 . Requires perfectly guessing twice. Also assuming you are not injured and spirit has no headphones.

"when chase music is BLARING and there are other noises it's not all that hard to lose track of a slippery survivor." Chase ends in phase the music fades in phase. Do you even play spirit? Also I've been able to find the last survivor standing, with end game music blaring, while they were hiding behind a lit fire in a jungle gym Moaning sounds are that loud and clear.

Literally all the same critiques and useless counter arguments pre-rework when devs said spirit was over performing. And the collision, vault animation, and post phase speed changes didn't do much to address these design flaws.

Posting videos isn't a viable strategy tbh. You're exaggerating imo. We give you tips on how to counter spirit and your arguments kinda are "this videos is the only factor that can change my mind, their word is law". It's not 75/25 mindgame its 50/50, it's not 99/1 it's maybe more of a 75/25. Spirit isn't unbalanced, she has counterplay.

"What do I do when I have no L walls or T walls close to me?" What do you do with every killer if a vault doesn't exist? Your scenario is being in the middle of nowhere.

"Literally all the same critiques and useless counter arguments pre-rework when devs said spirit was over performing. And the collision, vault animation, and post phase speed changes didn't do much to address these design flaws." That's exactly what the survivor mains wanted to be reworked, the devs listened when the surv mains said "we want these and then we'll be ok with spirit" honestly I don't know why you guys want more. Might as well delete spirit from the game. Having strong killers is a good thing, wish some people knew about that. Why do you want to literally destroy spirit instead of buffing clown for example? The devs gave you what the surv mains wanted, and now they're hungry for more. Might as well make spirit completely visible while phasing and delete all audio, whilst replacing her sword with a stick, that way the surv mains will be happy :)

  • Uninstalling the game is the best way to play killer, that's what survivor mains say.

  • @Nazeef13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290931#Comment_1290931

    1. It is as easy as it sounds. Literally. I've played spirit, grudge hits are too easy against injured survivors. After a few games, it's rare to not be able to pinpoint survivors. And if you mess up, just use your power again a seconds later. And high quality directional audio is not much different from visual cues in regards to information if they both allow you to pinpoint locations. The whole cost of her power is supposed to be that she has to use unreliable scratch marks. That cost would justify the tremendous benefits of mobility and stealth she gets from her power. But that cost is not happening due to audio cues. No other mobile killer has stealth/lack of information, no other stealth character has such mobility. There is supposed to be a cost for that.

    2. You should really watch Scott's video about countering spirit. Even if you make two correct guesses (when phase starts and which direction,) you'll have to do it again in just a few seconds. Doing that consistently is statistically unlikely. Here is a timestamp explanation that he can put in better words than I can: https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE?t=547. You can't juke something you can't see. You're only guessing.

    3. If taking away audio cues makes spirit f-tier, that means she is heavily audio cue dependent. And audio cue quality is highly impacted by headphones. So calling spirit a headphone killer is not a false statement.

    4. Lastly I don't recall the majority of survivors thinking collision is her only problem. She has several design flaws. Also you can say the same thing about killers (killers said nerf noed for dstrike, yet dstrike was nerfed but no change to noed, or remove bloodlust for map changes that just happened. Or they'll stop complaining about survivors once infinites are gone. That doesn't happen. Just because one forum user exaggerates one critical point to be the only problem doesn't make it apply to everyone. Same for the examples I just gave. ) I never said that so I'll continue to not be okay with spirit. Anywho, I think collision was the just the cherry on top of the lack of reactivity and counter play against spirit. The rest of the desert of design flaws and pay to win !mechanics are still present.

If you don't recall the 4th statement then I doubt you play the game long, or being in the forums for all I know. I also doubt you play spirit with these statements. Correct me if I'm wrong but, if you think mastering spirit is that easy, you probably are the best spirit Eu or something :/

  • @Nazeef13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290925#Comment_1290925

    1. The majority of his spirit videos series has to do with information and lack of reactivity- not ruin, not prayer beads, and a few points on collision in his "theorycraft." Here is the first video. None of it has been addressed in her rework other than collision https://youtu.be/sZyG29POXJw

    2. You're countering your own point. Previously you said that Scott is so good that he can get 40 straight 4ks with speed limiter bubba, so that would make him unstoppable on spirit. Now you're blaming it on 40 straight games of potatoes. Near impossible statistically speaking.

    3. Theorycraft. It was a respomse for people who post these kind of tips:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290656#Comment_1290656

    4. I've seen gm overwatch players destroy aimbot users. It's rare, but it can be done. This logic is not valid.

I can run a spirit. I cannot run a spirit with good headphones.

I know the spirit hate has gone under the radar for a while, mostly because there are fewer people picking her at just the thought of her rework. I highly suggest that you and @CLAUDETTEINABUSH reach out to @Scott@ScottJund and take him up on his offer for a kyf game against his spirit to showcase you consistent spirit countering, if his offer still stands.

Ok why not, if they really want to. But I'll be honest what you suggest cannot be done. Even if we lose (odds are we will cuz he is indeed a good killer) your arguments won't be logical. Think of this: if I tell you to vs the top nurse player to prove your jukes and you don't, will you say that nurse is still unbalanced? If I tell you to vs the best bubba in the game to show ur reflexes, and u die, would this suggest that bubba is op?

  • Because it's different. Relying on audio isn't as easy and brainless as it sounds, you should know if you play spirit. I've played her much as my fav killer to both play and face and I can safely say that there are some obvious counters (btw I don't run iron will, I believe that even if everyone thinks it's her only counter, it's simply not). Jukes are jukes, with headphones or without headphones. Doubling back, revaulting the same window to get distance (the best mindgame imo), walking away, pretending to go to a pallet but instead walk away from it ect.

What you suggest is: let's make spirit f tier. She's so unbalanced that she should be thrown to the garbage can.

I'll remind you something btw, remember when survivors said that when they'll remove collision from spirit then they'll be ok with her? I do. Did they keep their word? Well.....

  • @Nazeef13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290697#Comment_1290697

Bias... Against only 1 killer... Not any other killers. I'd call that being critical of spirit's awful design, just like he was about og moon walking legion.

    Not bias.

Also I agree with you. She PRACTICALLY has no tells (shards, her only tell, are useless unless you close enough to be up her but) . And I don't think she should. The point of that comment, is to show people who are dismissing criticism because "just look at her you'll know when she phases" or "train you eyes". The myth debunking video by Scott shows just that: saying spirit gives phase information to survivors is false, unless you are close enough to be hit and if spirit is not running any skins.

The other hair and animation reset tells are not consistent so they are not tells if they only sometimes happen to correlate with phasing.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WESM9DRZNPGM/ps-messages-20200520-234433-2.jpg

But what is the whole point of making survivors invisible, If you can pinpoint them with audio. Why pretend that phase is balanced by "unreliable scratch marks" when the audio cues can reliably get you a post-phase hit after a few games of getting used to it. At that point, don't even make the survivors invisible.

"The Spirit leaves the physical plane, losing sight of all Survivors. She can, however, still sense the scratch marks they leave in the environment."

She is also supposed to only sense the scratch marks left in the environment. She leaves the physical plane. Audio is part of the physical plane. If she is in a different plane where her eyes can not receive the light reflecting off of survivors, how are her ears catching vibrations in air molecules.

If you don't think spirit is audio cue dependent (aka buy good headphones), just play her with the volume down and see the difference in difficultty of landing the grudge post-phase hit.

Yes, the spirit should rely on audio because scratch marks are inconsistent as #########. You need another way of understanding where they are. If you think that when you "buy good headphones you win with spirit" it only tells me that you haven't played spirit, or maybe killer, whatsoever :/

    Why shouldn't she?

Survivors have absolutely no information about what she's doing in a chase against her at all.

She does give info when out of chase. Personally I think giving info in chase too is an overkill.

The one thing i would change about spirit is a clear visual indicator when she's using her power.

There is a bug with her currently that makes her kind of sparkling when she is using her power so something like that would be great.

    Tho she shouldn't :/

Dedicated servers should allow them to know exactly what is going on with stats.

They are constantly tweaking matchmaking right now.

You can't fix matchmaking without balancing SWF eg slowdowns or offer killers option of more BP against them.

MMR batch matchmaking will either see short term gain and reduced or be catastrophic, from what I've understood the killer player base will face any level so giving SWFs a further buff. Long term it will be bad but only from what they have described they will do.

Long term they will have a next gen for Christmas and what...

Dude, dedicated servers obviously doesn't give em a clear view. They also believe that hey, the data could be wrong! Let check again with the mmr. They don't need to add more stuff if they don't need to.

  • @Snowstruck said:

If you need a certain perk just to counter a killer, it's not very balanced.

I specifically said two other ways you can counter her. Spine chill and iron will just give you a bigger boost.

  • I actually like it. It's simple and not too complicated. But I do think it's a bit op in a 3gen scenario. Maybe make it so in 20 seconds they lose one health state instead.

  • Correct. I've posted about this myself in the past. Everything you said is just correct.

  • @Nazeef13 said:

I think the devs underestimated how easy it is to pinpoint where survivors are with audio cues.

The whole design of spirit is you have to use unreliable tracking of scratch marks, because survivors become invisible while in phase. In return, you get to close the majority of distance between you and survivor, and they don't know where you are either.

But with audio cues, the survivor being invisible doesn't matter, as it's not too difficult to pinpoint them and smack them directly out of phase (assuming you have decent headphones).

So now spirit knows exactly where you are, can close the distance, and you have no idea where she is. The problem is the audio ques, as it tips the balance of information that the killer has for survivor, while the survivors don't have info.

If you don't think audio cues are that impactful, I'd like to see how bad spirit performance gets if chase music continues to blast during phase or if audio cues are silent in phase. spirit actually having to use unreliable scratch marks instead of being headphone dependent. I'm sure she wouldn't be a killer to complain about.

Also, she still has pay to win skins.

I disagree. For skins I dunno I don't have any cosmetics on her. But having good headphones doesn't make you a god spirit. A good survivor knows when and how to mindgame and can make spirit pretty tilted. Trust me I know.

  • It would make every killer on an indoor map stealthed. That's kinda a bad idea. Imagine this on spirit. You can't know where she's phasing at all times. How about doc? Infinite range on his shock?

  • I actually use it sometimes because I have a good strat. With OoO I always have eyes on the killer, with sprint burst I can run away if they're close and with spine chill I know if a stealth killer is coming for me, so I use OoO as permission. If I get tunneled I use ds.

I use it rarely but it's the safest build I can think. I don't use OoO to be toxic, I use it to be efficient.

  • Can you doodle it for me please? I'm probably half blind.

How does Nurse break the game?

She adds another level of gameplay, a different level.

Sorry you can't loop her mindlessly around a pallet 3 times then drop it and proceed to the next.

    That's a big brain talking.

  • I don't get it. They simply said: we really don't know what the fuq is going on with swf. We'll release the MMR system and see if it's really a catastrophic problem. That's basically it.

I personally don't think they're hiding something. Maybe it's just you, people remember bad experiences more than good ones, that's why most people memorize swf as unfun.

  • @Schinsly said:

    1. A perk shouldn't be necessary to beat a killer.
    2. I agree
    3. Not entirely incorrect, just hard to learn. Stridor really isnt even needed tbh.
    4. And nurse also breaks the game, which is why she is broken, like spirit.

The perk isn't necessary but it is recommendable. It also doesn't beat the killer it just weaken her. Having extreme game knowledge also help.

Lastly because both of them break the game, they are hard to learn and master. Nurse and spirit player require precision. They are good killers because they are reworded when they predict and use game knowledge to win.

  • Oh yes please do that. I agree it will be neat!!!

  • @EmpireWinner said:

IMO you shouldn't need a perk to fix a major issue with her power.

Simple game knowledge helps too, but I do doubt what you just said. There are oceans of perks that counter certain killers and playstiles and if you think about it, this mindgame can't be used by every single spirit, some do that. If you want to be sure that you'll have an advantage then pick it. If not then don't!

  • Something that most people confuse: iri head is balanced. When combined with any of the belts it becomes broken. What I would simply change is that you can't equip any belts with this add-on. Simple.

Yes, easy. But such games are not interesting to me or this killer. Not enough points, sometimes -1 pip. I would rather die against a skilled killer who doesn't play like a tryhard. If at the same time I get from 10-13k bloodpoints and at least a black pip... this is ok for me.

I'm a mediocre killer, but when I see survivors playing worse than me, I give them a chance. I try not to do things that I would not like as a survivor. Often I let everyone go except toxic players (If I caught them, of course :D)

There are players for killers who always want to get 4k, who like to get "-rep" to their profiles, who just hate survivors and love their suffering etc. I wrote them sarcastic comments. Now I'm trying to accept these facts and imagine them as NPC, as bots. I have not yet got rid of hatred for them :(

Fortunately, I rarely see both tryhards and weak killers :)

As a spirit main I get called a tryhard almost 24/7 but still I never get any reps because I simply don't care. If someone says I tryharded I'll probably answer: yeah sorry about that, just had a bad game against a 4man swf and wanted to see how I'll do with this build!

    And more of that.
