There's nothing scummy in any tactic in a videogame if it works, people just like to say that because they didn't have fun in game, which is totally fine. This is PVP game, killer isn't here to entertain survivors and survivors aren't here to entertain killer.

I saw Mandy say in a post yesterday that keys were only 2% of escapes.
I would like to see the wider explanation of what @MandyTalk said. Were that escapes through hatch opened by key? Because the only relevant statistics in this case would be the total number of escapes in games with key and no mori.

They will change tho. Just seems like killer mains are mad that they didnt come out together. A key doesnt guarantee anything unless we are talking about a good swf in which case they dont even need keys. If anything its more important to nerf moris before keys.
Probably they will, but according to the way devs are speaking about that, it isn't decided how they will change and when, and this task isn't prioritized, so fixing keys will probably take as much time as Nurse M2 bug and other low-priority issues. Like, year or two, or something. And that's what pisses me off a bit in this entire situation.
-
Franklin's doesn't work against keys if survivors stash them in some place at the start of the game.
Mori nerf is fine, keeping keys as they are aka "A-bomb for swf" is not.
-
Exactly the same, and if you are playing survivor, add to that list horrible queue times.
-
Moris are finally fixed... Good.
Although no key changes... This is disappointing. I guess that means they won't be changed ever.
I'll just lobby dodge every key now out of principle.
-
Soon (tm)

Killers play more scummy because there is more things killer do which are considered scummy.
When survivors deprive as much killer's fun as possible it is considered as impressive skill.
When killer deprives survivor's fun it is different somehow.
I don't even get why people expect their opponent to care about their fun in PVP game. Like, if you get photon rushed in StarCraft 2 it is only your fault, because you don't know how to resist such tactics, but in this game if killer camps you and your entire team runs at him and dies - it is somehow killer's fault.
-
Just do it
If potato survivor like me managed to do it to the green ranks and still have fun, you can do it too!
-
Bodyblocking is reportable? Good news, I'll report every survivor trying to get protection hits at the exit gate lol

I don't think survivors doing this is tryhard or toxic. Unless there's consistent coordination, which would only make this sweaty if anything, it's something that survivors try to do just as much as you try to kill them. There's a lot of points involved in protection hits (bodyblocking) and making saves, as well as challenges involving those things. Besides, killers should be paying attention to their surroundings, and such actions come at the cost of more than one survivor not being on a generator.
Unlike, say, slugging when you're already steamrolling. It doesn't give any points nor is there any sort of challenge requiring you to beat down broken teams. That's not to say slugging is bad practice, it isn't. It's great pressure. But it's usually overkill when there's a DC or a clear skill disparity in the solo team.
Also, easy mode? Just chase normally, lol. Even sweat in your mindgames. I'm just hoping killers don't party wipe instantly because they simply can. It's usually more fun if survivors get some interaction with the killer.
Of course it isn't tryharding, they are doing what they are supposed to do - surviving.
And killer is doing what he is supposed to do - killing. It is up to him to decide if he is going to earn some points by hooking everyone in conventional way, practice chasing or just go for slugging and move to the next game faster. Neither of these decisions makes you bad.
-
Survivors: why killers don't show some empathy and don't go easy mode after dc?
Also survivors: woah, this brown rank trapper managed to down someone occasionally! Go-go flashlight save! Go-go bodyblock! No man left behind!
Seriously, I never saw survivors giving me hooks when I struggled, why should I care about their fun more than mine?
-
Oh no, now killers are using the same perks in every game too

I love how some people just make up random crap to justify themselves. Seriously, take the teeniest peek at the other replies I've made in this thread. Or don't, I don't particularly care. I'm not a fan of strawman debaters.
Ok bruh everyone is making up random crap except for you who definately make only indisputable arguments

It's hard to say that your teammates suck when both you and them are checking spots the other had already done.
Skill isn't binary. It's not lose = suck. There's a lot that goes into DbD, and easily the biggest factor is co-ordination. Call a team bad all you want, there's a reason I consider solo lobbies free wins, and it isn't because bad players play solo. In fact, it's usually the opposite.
Well, if you play solo on ranks high enough to see ruin+undying every game and you are not prepared to deal with totems by some perks or items, and also you don't know when you have to sit on gens - you are definately missing the strategic aspect of this game.

But also, even when there's no obsession, killers just immediately tunnel off hook, so even when survivors aren't running stuff like DS they play as "unfairly" as possible.
I don't say there's no reason to use DS or it shouldn't exist. There is a reason for them to exist, and killer has to expect every survivor to have them during an average match, so why wouldn't you expect every survivor to have them when you are choosing your perks? Of course you will expect them. You have no clue in the lobby how strong these survivors are and which perks they will have, but if you are used to assume the worst - you still assume the worst. That's what the game pushes you for.

Assuming someone is bringing the strongest perks is a bit silly, no? You're assuming this person is bringing perks so you think you have an argument when this may not actually be the case.
Ahem ahem decisive strike ahem unbreakable
Seriously, you have to respect them as killer even if they aren't there

It's not enough to know where the totems are. I know almost all the totem spawns, I regularly run Detectives Hunch with a map and Inner Strength. It still wastes too much time just because of the lack of co-ordination.
Well, like, you aren't supposed to win against killer if you are the only survivor in the team who knows what to do. Whether you like it or not, survivors play as a team, and if you are the greatest player ever, but your team sucks - you should lose. That works like that in any game with random teammates - sometimes they are good, sometimes they are not, that's just a matter of luck.

More than 2 flashlights is always a free win anyway for me. Too much time spent going for saves and not doing gens.
Yes, and because of that you can afford to spend one perk slot for Franklin's or Lightborn to make your game more comfortable :)
3+ medkits are a different story though.
-
@gibblywibblywoo said:
I'll never understand why killers use Franklins. Outside of having no other perks or just being a troll it makes no sense to me.
It works great against people with medkits that have to heal in a conventional way after being hit, it can help you with kicking the key out of survivor's hands if he wasn't smart enough to leave it somewhere, it helps you against flashlight bully squads which are annoying even if you know how to deal with them. That's enough reasons.
-
@HollowsGrief said:
Doesn't legion already sort of have that?
Yes, so no reason for that to be impossible to implement on other killers
-
As a killer: I play to win and I'm going to do anything to achieve that. I won't slug for the 4k because that wastes too much time and I won't intentionally go camping all game or tunneling all game, but if you go for last second rescues I will be there to make sure that someone hits next stage, and if I'll occassionally eat your DS - you are the target number one for me.
As a survivor: I play solo so I'm running good info perks to do what other people won't. Sometimes it is sitting on the gen in the corner, sometimes it's risky rescues, sometimes it's totem hunting. No strict plan.
-
Removing Bloodlust would be fine, because it carries killers against better survivors. The problem is - there is not enough killers in high ranks, so the game will throw unexperienced killers to the meat grinder. And that's not healthy for the game, because unequal confrontation is boring for both sides.
-
I guess something had to compete with Beast of prey on its powerlevel.

@Yamaoka said:

The way I see it people who bloodlust and camp will feel more stressed out than before. As a result they will either try and actually work on their chases or they will drop the game completely after a few hard-camp matches.
We will just have to wait and see. Personally I'm fairly sure I don't need bloodlust these days. Most crazy loops are gone and many killer powers are strong enough to get quick downs.
On top of that the removal of bloodlust allows the devs to potentially buff weaker killers because a Spirit will not suffer from the removal of bloodlust as opposed to Wraith for example.
Well, personally Wraith won't miss Bloodlust.
That could work if we could expect BHVR to implement such balance changes in appropriate time, but that's not going to happen, expect changes to these killers in two years, or something.

Bloodlusting killers always camp anyways so might as well make it harder for them to get their well deserved 1k.
It's not black and white, you know. Usually people don't start match planning to bloodlust someone and camp him then, they decide to camp when realize that chasing is hard for them. So I expect a camping shitshow when people who struggled already will be pushed to don't even try to go for hard chases.
-
Keep calm and prepare to camping.
-
Welp, survivor queues in high ranks will be long as Satan's dick this weekend.
-
Cheryl, cuz she's lovely.
Nurse, cuz med girls are crazy in bed.
-
If your team stays around the killer that's not even tunneling.

@Sluzzy said:
They need to learn the hard way. You don't learn anything if you are always winning. If a few survivors get out, that should be acceptable, especially being new.
You can't learn anything if you are playing against someone who is overwhelmingly better than you. It doesn't work like that in any game. Especially if we speak about toxic smurfs trying to make your experience miserable. That just discourages newcomers, and you can't demand them to go tryhard before they get engaged.
-
BTW, I'm not sure, but your actual problem could be not in spawn points. I have a feeling that right now loading into the game happens not simultaneously. That could be a crossplay issue or something.

@TheClownIsKing said:
I didn’t say “every time I’m found first”.
Being found first isn’t the problem. The problem is when I’m found first because of this EXACT circumstance: where for all intents and purposes I’m spotted pretty match as soon as the match starts. The killer shouldn’t spawn THAT close to a survivor.
Well, why it is the problem? That's basic survivor playing sequence: stealth, generator, looping, hook, rescue, repeat. It doesn't really matter where you start it. Killer will find you earlier or later. Like, if he won't, you are just playing "hold m1 - press space" quick time event simulator, and that's boring as hell.
-
It is so hilarious that the guy advocating for respectful speech in the internet is the same guy that kills himself on hook and ruins the game for his teammates if killer finds him first. That's kinda consistent.

uhm. So you agree with certain killers and not against a sweatsquad you actually can secure a kill easily even when undeserved?
but can you also tell me where that button to escape for the last survivor is when no gens were done? As far as I know they still need to find hatch before the killer while not being found by the killer.
I'm playing in red ranks and if it came to EGC facecamping against 4 men - it is always a sweatsquad. Also, you still need to catch the survivor you are going to camp. So, if you are a pure potato - facecamping won't save you. Unlike the hatch that can just pop under your feet. I managed to do some nasty escapes like that when I played survivor.
Ok, let's make that button disabling if survivors will find it first, I don't mind.

@Mooks said:

It’s not a button. But you can facecamp, some killers can make it easier like Doc or Bubba, there is Rancor, there are Moris.
Hatch is fine. Those mechanics I listed are fine. But this is a game and it’s not all about skill or who deserves to escape or who deserves to get a kill.
Facecamping is about skill if you don't play Bubba or Doc.
Good sweatsquad is still able to unhook a survivor in front of you, and counterplaying their moves requires a lot of skill.

@Mooks said:
This is such a bizarre opinion..
why does the last survivor not deserve to escape? It’s a game, in many cases played by casual players just for fun. You don’t need to deserve to escape/get a kill. Most times it’s very luck depended how the match plays out in the first place.
i can understand how this is frustrating when you go for killer adepts, but those survs are still all actual people just playing a game to have a fun time. Maybe that surv was just doing a daily to escape and is super happy it finally worked even though they got matched with survs under their skill level for many matches (which happens very often).
Where's my button "kill one survivor" that activates if all four of them are still alive during EGC then?
Hatch is fine, but this argument is ridiculous.
-
1) Yes!
2) Also yes.
3) Nah, Midwich is the best..
4) It requires skill, but not a great amount of skill.
5) Legion is mostly fine, I don't like two things about him: losing power bar after normal hit and getting fatigued after ending his power - exhaustion could allow you to see things at least.
-
How dare you, dirty pig abuser!!!
-
It is not genrushing. Genrushing means that survivors prioritize fixing gens over unhooking and healing. If they complete 3 gens during your single chase that's just your fault on chasing and protecting gens.
-
Yep, it looks the same on rank 4. Matchmaking sucks right now, wait for MMR to be implemented.

That's not what I've heard. I've heard that said of the term "midget", but not "dwarf", given that, as I said, "dwarfism" is the name of the condition. It'd be like not referring to someone with gigantism as a giant.
You should call them g-men for the purpose of political correctness.

My bad experience comes mostly from facing russian killers, it is not eminent for me with survivors. The killers I'm referring to did not do anything forbidden like cheating / hacking, but often played unnecessarily "harsh". Sure it's the killers job to kill, but:
- Playing slugging nurse with 5 gens left, against an obvious lobby of randoms, without any mercy
- Tunnel-for-mori each and everyone (exceptionally cheap tactic). I would bet that at least half of my encounters against an Iri-Head Huntress with Red mori were players with cyrillic player tag / russian profiles
- Camping / tunneling to the extreme from the start, without anyone being toxic or annoying (at least not me)
- Going full try-hard even with disconnected ppl. No I do not want a free escape, but totally denying an unhook when we are only 3 survivors from the start, when the killer could just play a little bit more lenient and still get their 4k ...
Thats all really unnecessary. Sure this all happens with players from other regions as well, but the extreme cases (oppressive from the start without any mercy) were overrepresented by russians for me. Might be bias, don't know.
As a russian killer player I can confirm that I always play in the exactly that way.
Somehow it wasn't always like that, when I started playing I could go easy on survivors or even let them fix the gens and leave after slugging the last survivors by picking them up. But intensions like that kinda expired with time and I switched to no mercy mode. Because of abundance of survivor trashtalking, probably.
-
I guess, that's the reason why playing Trapper feels so miserable sometimes.
You are not supposed to see everything in horror games, that's plain cheating.

It isn't designed for casuals, it is designed for the average player, that plays 2 hours per day. It is just that there are a bunch of x-thousand hours players, that push the average, resulting in only 30% (random guess) of all players being able to finish the rift. There are more people below average than above
It is not an average player btw. If you play every day at least 2 hours - you are a very devoted player.
