There are a couple problems with you theory, because you have misconceptions about both MMR and NOED.
First: MMR
#1 you stated that "MMR is balancing your games so you get 50% killrate. " since MMR has not been fully explained, you don't know this to be true. Yet your entire argument is predicated on it being true. And if this is wrong, it invalidates your entire post.
#2" So instead of 100% of value your MMR had to be decreased, you only get a 50% decrease." - again, you're assuming you fully understand how the MMR system works when none of us actually do. We can believe that the system only counts kills for Killer MMR, but we don't know for sure. And that means your numbers for how much your MMR moves based on number of kills is ficticious at best.
And now, NOED:
Your argument is also predicated on the belief that NOED consistently gives the killer kills that they would otherwise not get if they hadn't ran the perk. Yet BHVR hasn't stated that NOED strongly influences the endgame one way or the other, at least not that I'm aware of. And considering BHVRs track record of nerfing things that overperform, no matter how unusual of a situation that may be, I find it very hard to believe BHVR would keep it in the state its in if it did.
Lastly, to make a point, let's say you are correct: MMR works around a 2 kill average, and NOED both drastically and consistently increase Killer counts. The NOED Killer is placed in higher ranks, and then "the killer gets overwhelmed by survivors that much so NOED doesn't matter anymore." And? The conclusion being that they'll stop progressing and stagnate, and face survivors of a similar matchmaking rating. Which is exactly the point of MMR in the first place. This isn't some awful predicament you make it out to be, but rather the stated goal of the system in the first place.
The fact is neither you, I, or anyone know how MMR works, or if NOED consistently aids you in kills you wouldn't have had otherwise.
If you assume that we don't know anything about how MMR works we can rely on our experience. I made my experiment and it confirms my theory for me, you can test it yourself and check if it works for you.
My conclusion is not that it is bad to get to higher MMR than you should. It is that if you are struggling in your games and the only way for you to get kills in your games is to rely on NOED and camping, and you don't like it - there is a reason why it happened.
-
I have some serious doubts about the ability of MMR to drop more than rise. That seems weird to me.

Fun fact if you get smashed by a team and get 4 man escaped you go down by 30 points.... now if it was only 3 it would be around 20 points lost so its not as bad as you make it out to be since the max mmr increase you can get from a game is +20.
Didn't know we have the exact numbers. Do we?

BBQ is really just for the bloodpoints, but a few select killers can use the information to good effect.
I'm not bringing up the usual Blight, Nurse, etc., but Legion.
BBQ has the downside of only revealing the auras of survivors outside of 40 meters, Legion in Feral Frenzy gives Killer Instinct for survivors in your Terror Radius +8 (within 40 meters).
Hooking a survivor and then stabbing some one in FF has the potential to give you the locations of all survivors on the map. Because of this, I like to run chase oriented builds.
- BBQ
- Infectious Fright
- Surge (Jolt)
- Thanataphobia
BBQ shows you survivors outside of 40 meters, Feral Frenzy shows you survivors within 40. Infectious Fright is there to replace FF if all the survivors choose to stay injured. The 2 next perks, Surge and Thanataphobia, further punish survivors for staying injured rather then healing.
I actually recommend against using Lethal Pursuer on Legion. His power is literally just to find people, so Lethal Pursuer is a waste of a perk slot.
Why though? Delivering pain as soon as possible, before people spread around the map is a gamebreaker.

If not Noed then camp, if not camp then face-camp. While we all trying to play for fun, on paper only kills are important. So those who are interested in MMR should be efficient and it means camping and tunneling.
Sure. I am not addressing people who play for results and want to get kills by every possible way. That's their right. But they shouldn't complain about getting hard games if they play like that, because this way of playing is the reason why it happens.

Nope, I saw the point about getting extra kills and that boosting your mmr. I disagree with that line of thinking in preforming worse so you get less skilled survivors. If that's what you wanted to discuss you would have made sure that was apparent in the title instead of a blanket statement that noed is bad.
I assumed that people will actually read the post and not just the title. My bad, shouldn't expect that much.

NOED is fine for killers. Its that survivors refuse to deal with it before/after it activates which leads anyone to say that it's bad for killers. Survivors can have multiple second chances during the game, but if a killer has one more chance only during the end game it becomes a problem. Lets not even look at the fact that the killer plays a majority of the trial with only 3 perks.
You completely missed the point. Read the post again.

I'm still not following your logic. One extra kill in 25% of your games is 1 kill among the 16 survivors you face, meaning that your kill rate has only increased...6%. Not a hella lot.
In addition, noed only removes 1 of the 2 hits required to down, so you still need to have a successive chase in order to make it work in the first place.
Also, if NOED procs at all, that means at least 1 survivor completed the fifth gen. This means
A) You've already smashed most of the team and NOED has no bearing on that outcome or
B) YOU got smashed by the team, and your outcome (and by extension your MMR) would already be impacted negatively, and NOED would have little impact.
Can NOED drastically change the number of kills that CAN occur in the round? Sure.
DOES NOED drastically change the number of kills that occur in the game overall? I'm going to say no, based on the fact that BHVR hasn't nerfed it in the last couple of years, and they nerf anything that "overperforms"
You don't get it.
Point B is the problem. You got smashed by the team. You had to see a 4-man escape and your MMR should be drastically lowered. But instead - bang, you have NOED. You get an extra kill. So instead of 100% of value your MMR had to be decreased, you only get a 50% decrease.
6% doesn't apply to your killrate - nothing can increase your killrate. It increases the rate of you getting more MMR until you'll get to the point where you get overwhelmed by survivors that much so NOED doesn't matter anymore.
-
I go with two perks usually. Two perks for gen regression, one info perk, one chase perk is kinda standard for me.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I seriously doubt NOED drastically increases kill averages.
I'd even estimate that NOED isn't still active by the time the game ends in about 60% of the games it procs.
It does. Even if you get a single extra kill through NOED in 25% of your games it is hella lot.

NOED is going to be trash once boon totems become a thing. Not even worth the risk to take it. And I am one of the few people that doesn't pretend it is bad right now.
Depends on how hard people will jump on the boon totem train. I don't really expect them to be a meta changer, my bet is that for a couple of months there will be 4 boon totems each game and after that people will just replace self-care with them.

@Raccoon said:
Oh no
That means Blood Warden, Remember Me, No Way Out, and Black Box are all bad for killers, too
Oh no
If you are consistently pulling extra kills with them, probably yes. I doubt they have the same impact though, they are not as strong as NOED.

"Tbagging is fine IF it's to try and get the killers attention off another survivor instead."
No, it is not. If you play a chess game and show your opponent middle finger to make him angry and pay less attention to the game you are still a douchebag. Being a douchebag on purpose doesn't make you less douchebag.
Don't excuse BM in the game.
-
I don't like this map as a killer main. If I play against lower skilled survivors they can't find gens or get unhooks in time so it is a slaughter, if I play against veteran survivors they abuse each god window on the map and hold shift+W so I can't catch them fast enough, so 5 gens pop and I get one kill through endgame camping. Either way I don't have a fun game.

That’s what makes Enduring + Brutal better than Enduring + Spirit Fury.
Survivors may predrop if they see you have Enduring. But if they know you have SF they’ll always predrop to waste your perk. Brutal gets more value consistently.
Yeah
Spirit fury is way more satisfying though

Is that a good perk even when the Survivor finds out that the Killer is using Enduring?
After that they won't try to stun you anymore and predrop pallets, whether you consider that as a good thing or not is up to you.

Boon totems are pretty strong but they're not overwhelming strong and can be countered by not letting your opponents get away. A blessed totem does no good across the map from anyone
Lol.
Yeah, that's easy, just don't let anyone get away, always commit. Someone is running to the main building on Cowshed? Commit! Best looper in the team? Commit! That will definitely work out.

Ah yes, let me just crouch walk over traps around a hooked survivor to get the unhook.. only for her to return right back and force us to trigger them all anyways.
If Hag is hanging around the hook it is just a regular camping and the solution is the same as for any other camping.
-
Ruin is a nice killer perk, as long as its up I can afford to play the game fair and don't tunnel anyone.
-
How much time Hag has to be in the game until survivors learn how to use crouch button for something useful for once?

Boon Totems are slightly over tuned, but as a concept are fine.
The videos that people post online are legit best case scenarios with multiple boons overlapping each other. Legit if they removed the ability for them to stack, Boon Totems would be fine.
It takes like what, 16 seconds to set one up? 1 or 2 for the killer to break it? It's strong, but that's not a bad thing. I'd rather survivors be given something somewhat strong than for the game to remain the exact same for years and years and years.
I'm kinda scared about the potential of the stealth totem perk. SWFs will abuse it by bringing RPD or Lery's offering and four of these perks, and there is nothing killer can do about that.
-
Work or your perception on the game. Teabagging is not toxic. Clicking flashlight is not toxic. Sure, it is a BM, but it does as much harm to you as you allow it. If you continue playing at some point you won't give a flying ######### about these things.
Endgame love messages are a different case, but you can just close the chat.
-
The only buff for Surge I want is removing basic attack requirement. There is no reason for this thing to exist, it does nothing but reducing the number of killers that can use it. Why is it a thing, especially considering that it is a Demogorgon's perk, and he has m2 attacks.

no, the true nerf is his increased TR. Now holding shift W is even more strong against him.
I don't really care about nerfs with MMR on, killer can be stronger or weaker, this is fine. Deathslinger clearly didn't deserve a nerf, but that's a separate issue. However, quickscoping is the only reason to play Deathslinger. You have to wind up as Huntress, Trickster or Nemesis, but as Deathslinger you can land your shots fast. That's his main feature. And now it feels extremely sluggish. Aiming takes longer than Nemesis pulls out his tentacle.

There's a difference in wanting something to be changed because it is too powerful and wanting something to be changed because it's not fun to go against and is unhealthy for the game.
Deathslinger falls into the latter category. He's not OP by any means, but he isn't fun to go against for many players because there's a lack of engaging counter play to his ability.
Will you have more fun without Deadthslinger being in the game? Because he should also be fun to play as, and PTB Deathslinger is not. Look how many Twins you see in public games. And Deathslinger will be worse than that - Twins are strong but horrible to play, and PTB Deathslinger is weak and horrible to play, so why would anyone play him.
-
Hag doesn't need addon changes.
-
I wish killer could actually do bones, because he can't. You just temporarily disable them.
-
1) Survivors in healing circle can heal faster than you hit them, this should not be a thing
2) Boon totems just feel unfair, because they seem to be a survivor Hex counterpart, but with everything you would wish for hexes
-
I don't think it will happen. So far boon totems seem to be designed around AOE effects, not personal buffs.
-
First world problems I see here, if McDonalds Wifi is your problem - you have no problems
-
DS from PTB is horrible. Its either Deathslinger players having fun by having quickscope or survivors, and BHVR chose survivors. He might be still viable as D tier killer, but he is not fun to play. As if he was Huntress but twins. Personally I'll stick to Nemesis, he might not be the strongest, but he is fun at least.
-
So, survivors have basekit Undying for their totems while killer has to rely on RNG and pray that survivors don't spawn on his totems? Pretty good job so far.
-
Personally I won't hate new key users. Keys are bs not because they allow you to see the killer's aura, but because they are abused by swfs to get ez escapes. Aura reading is strong, but there is a lot of other strong items, so no reason to be picky.
-
Time to rename Deathslinger to Deadslinger. With these changes he might become the weakest killer in DbD easily since there was just two things going for him and both of them are going to be nerfed.
Damn, right after I started learning him. I'll stick to Nemesis now, I guess that's what BHVR wanted us to do.
-
Killer doesn't owe you anything. If someone DC'd - blame him for ruining your game, not killer. Killer is just playing the game, even though it isn't going to be much fun.
-
I did a Beast of prey challenge in an intended way, it was way harder than this one. You need to force yourself to throw the game that much and get survivors who won't understand what you are doing.

There is no such map. Killers can win on any map. If you can't, that's on you. Watch any streamer and see for yourself that any map can be won on. Anyway, how do you compare survivor and killer skill level? Present your comparison formula, I'll wait.
And this is bullshit.
First, yes, you can win on Badham IV or Haddonfield, but the chance of winning won't be 50%. It will be 15%, or something.
Second, watch any streamer yourself and count their wins on these maps. You will be surprised.
Third, right now we have MMR on. It is supposed to give you survivors of your skill level and it doesn't take maps into account as far as we know. Yes, sometimes it makes mistakes, but if you play this game a lot - you know when you are playing against people of your skill level, and when you are not.
Fourth, just play killer and count your own wins on these maps ffs. If MMR is balanced for 2k/2e, why on certain maps this is not the case?
