  • Maybe if that survivor that died early had teammates to help heal them, they may have lasted longer. If you just ditch your teammates to jump back on a gen ASAP, you shouldn't be surprised when they die.

  • Agreed, I prefer NSFW teams. They let you see it all.

  • I would love to be able to practice with bots. I would even settle for just being able to load into a map as killer alone. Maybe with some survivors that just stand there for testing stuff.

It would be good in a part to include the zombies in Dead by Daylight, especially in a Resident Evil chapter, but I doubt it, maybe they are like the bots of Friday the 13th the game or much worse.

I'm just hoping they'll be included in the map in some way, not as obstacles or anything, just set dressing. Like behind a fence or in a research tank or something depending on what the map is.

    1. No more perk tiers
    2. Bake in the bp increases from WGLF and BBQ, remove it from those perks and just make it basekit. WGLF would probably need a buff to compensate, but I think BBQ would still be a fine perk on high mobility killers so it doesn't really need a change.

My survivor queues are fine. At the worst time of the day (around 2AM mind you) they go up to 5 minutes, which is exactly the same queue time for killer during the morning.

Exactly, this is a big factor. During the day, there are a lot of solo players because not everyone is off work. This means more people play killer.

At night, more people want to play with friends and unfortunately, you can't do that as killer (except in custom games).

I don't really think balance has anything to do with it.

  • I feel like someone should give him the Mr. X hat and a licker tongue so we can just meld all the speculations together. And Jack's chainsaw scissors because why not.

I think I'd be too fascinated to see how someone with 23k hours plays to dodge. Fascinated and terrified

Also a good way to learn something. I really don't mind losing as a killer if the survivors show me something new.

  • @TheMadCat said:

When you crouch under the hook right after being unhooked or right after finishing a generator, it means: "Can you heal me, please?"

When a Killer hit the air while carrying me, I understand they want me to stop wiggling because they want to bring me somewhere. I had a Bubba who wanted to hook me in the basement. He hit the air two or three times before I stopped wiggling, as I eventually understood what he was asking for. I was the last Survivor alive, so I saw no reason to not let him hooking where he wanted to. (He got the three others in the basement, so I thought he had a challenge to be done.)

But there is one I still don't know what it means, and I hope I don't use it the wrong way. I shake my arms when I'm hooked to let people know that no one is coming for me. As soon as I see someone coming my way, I stop. I've heard it means the Killer is camping, but each time someone did that in my lobby, the Killer wasn't camping at all, so I thought it was to say: "Come save me, please!"

(I mean, it was what you asked for? English is not my native language, sorry if I misunderstood a word from your message.)

Yeah, the arms on the hook thing is really inconsistent. Since it's the only thing you can do on the hook, it basically just means "I'm trying to communicate something" which is about as vague as you can get. I think I've seen it used for both the cases you mentioned, not sure if there's a real agreed upon usage.

  • @DoritoHead said:

Learning him is exactly like learning Nurse but without the mental toll.

Yeah, I feel like Blight has a lower skill floor because even if you have absolutely 0 aim with his power, he's still a 115% killer with a great mobility tool.

I like that the first post completely derailed this thread into the daily "I lost a game as killer because I'm not as good as I thought, time to whine on the forums" thread.

Yup, with a sprinkling of "I'm bad at this killer, therefore the killer is bad".

  • I'd go with Bubba, especially since you already own him. BBQ and Chili is amazing for leveling up more quickly and is also just a pretty good tracking perk as well.

Bubba himself is very fun to play after his rework. Once you learn what you can get away with when chainsawing, he actually becomes really versatile. He's also very intuitive to play since his power is basically just a way to end chases faster. He's nice for a beginner because his power level is very consistent. He's not like Plague or Oni, who's power levels fluctuate throughout the match.

It's also pretty cool that he has unlockable cosmetics for sacrificing each of the OG survivors 25 times each, so that gives a nice goal to work towards with him.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to gesture for a Killer to follow me to help me complete a challenge or I've stood by something I needed and waited for them to help me trigger it only for their greed at getting a hook to ruin it. The thing about it is that they have no idea of knowing what I am trying to do or what I need, and vice versa.

It's very frustrating especially for some of those really difficult/obscure challenges, but most of the time Survivor mains aren't going to know Killer challenges and Killers won't know what Survivors need.

Try to not get too frustrated. Hang in there and happy gaming! <3

Yeah, I had one match where a survivor ran me a for a really good while so I decided to let them go at the door at the end. They headed back in to the basement which was right next to the door so I figured they were just trying to give me the kill so I hooked them up. In post game, it turns out they were trying to grab the item I franklined out of their hands (I forgot I even had that perk on lol). Thankfully they were cool about it and knew it was just a misunderstanding.

  • Yeah, BHVR would probably have to update their engine to be able to handle non-humanoid killers, but it would really open the floodgates for a lot more unique killers.

AI definitely wouldn't be enough to get someone tournament ready or anything, but it could still be very good for newer players. The AI for the mobile game is actually surprisingly good, it made me double check that I was playing against bots. They're not phenomenal or anything, but they felt pretty similar to rank 13-15ish human survivors.

  • I thought I'd be okay with pretty much any RE killer, thanks for ruining that. This is now the only acceptable choice.

  • Because then they can tell themselves they didn't lose. The killer didn't kill them so they can convince themselves that it doesn't count as a loss.

The forum is mainly killer biased.

You can get away with shaming survivors. But you'll get skinned alive if u dare to shame a killer as survivor. I've seen it myself multiple times.

So in the end, you're gonna give me a biased argument and ignore all the other killer posts that appear? DS, dead hard, remove exhaustion perks, KEYS, SWF?. Should I name more? Right now, it just so happens that survivors complain more.

Regarding the struggle bar. Hooking favors the killer, while pallets favor the survivor, right now at least. Perfectly balanced if u ask me, as all things should be. Not mentioning that if a killer is close to hook, getting a perfect frame flashlight save will still que the hooking animation. If the has DS + High ping, the hooking will still favor the killer. Not sure, but I think also if the killer has high ping, it will still favor him.... I might be wrong about it...

In the end, all sides complain.

You're right, all sides do complain. That's why I really don't understand the victim complex you're getting from seeing a killer complain. I never said killers don't complain, but you said they do most of the complaining and I just don't think that's true. Also, how is my argument biased? I looked at the front page at an arbitrary time and I think the front page I'm seeing now is pretty typical of what I'd usually see.

What happened here was someone complained about a bug and you accused them "crying their heart out". As you say, kindly bugger off.

Killers complain the most on this forum.

I mean no offense....But... You kinda get tired of them. Survivors as well, but killers complaint mostly...

It is unbelievable to me that shortly after the pallet bug was fixed, we have killers complaining about pallets being too strong now... Next thing we know, they'll want to survivor's legs to get cut. I guarantee you some of them got way too used to the bug that allowed you to swing trough.

If this is a bug, then so be it. Make a bug report, not complain here.

I guess I'm just imagining the two threads complaining about spirit, the thread complaining about camping and the thread complaining about the struggle bar that are all on the front page. Or the threads complaining about camping and tunneling that show up just about every single day.

do you think stepping in trapper's traps and then escaping is valid counterplay? would trapper be ok if this were the only way to disarm his traps? just wondering, since you just said what you just said.

I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make here. Honestly, if that change was made for Trapper, I still don't think he would even hit B tier so yeah he would be ok.

But this is a disingenuous comparison. The trappers traps are based off of RNG. People call what the spirit does a 50/50, but there's actually no random chance involved. It's like how rock paper scissors can seem random, but people can be consistently good at it.

I just find it absolutely insolent after the killers have been abusing the pallet bug for weeks and now immediately after someone comes and complains & cries about pallets being too strong....

If this is a bug, then report it in the bug section and let the devs handle it.

By ping, I meant, that if u have high ping as survivor, you'll get hit trough pallets. Not the other way around...

Got it, killers aren't allowed to complain. They just have to sit there and listen to YOU complain about an issues that's already fixed. Yup, they're the ones that are insolent in this situation.

  • The perk makes unhooking safer, it doesn't mean you just get a guaranteed unhook in front of the killer's face. This is like a Killer complaining that NOED doesn't work if they miss the survivor.\

It's still an extremely useful perk, but it doesn't mean you can just completely turn your brain off while going for the save.

This is not how server based games work and probably why dbd has these problems.

Why does it need to favor killer OR survivor? No other server based games does this. The only reason it ever favored killer was from the days where the game was peer to peer.

This is a server based game now. The server is supposed to be the one deciding if hits are encountered, not the killer.

You don't see team fortress 2 favoring blue or red team arbitrarily for hit validation.

    https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Lag_compensation

TF2 actually does work the same way. If the shot registers on the shooters screen, the server will count it as a hit, even if it doesn't look that way to the person getting shot. The only difference is in TF2 you are in the killer's role while shooting and in the survivor's role when being shot so it constantly flips back and forth. Since DBD is asymmetrical, you stay in one role for the whole game instead.

She gives no indication as to when she is when phasing nor where she is. She has several cues as to where you are however which makes her power incredibly one-sided as well as without any sort of valid counterplay.

These cues include scratch marks, groans of pain when injured, breathing, and footsteps as well as noise when slow vaulting anything.

You can't counter her, only guess and hope you made the right choice. You can also attempt to make it harder for the mediocre spirit to catch you, but it won't work if the spirit you are up against is smart.

Counterplay has to work 100% of the time to be valid?

Well, we didn't see Ethan die, so maybe he got fog napped.

Even the character model you can unlock of him in game doesn't show his face though. It'd be kind of weird to add a character no one's really actually seen.

  • OoO means the killer might tunnel you even if they don't particularly want to. If I'm in between chases and looking for a survivor, why in the world would I not go after the one that's constantly pinging me their location?

OoO is still a high risk / high reward perk. Making yourself an extremely attractive target for the killer is the risk.

  • Probably because of the way they feel to have used against you. With NOED, it's a 'gotcha' at the end of the game. The survivor may have thought they were about to escape or made a play counting on only losing one health state and then NOED takes them by surprise and feels like a cheap loss.

Corrupt on the other hand is much harder to blame things on. It does have a really strong effect on the game, don't get me wrong, it's stronger than NOED. But it's effect is more spread out by manipulating where the survivors go. There's never a time when a survivor goes down and it was 100% because of Corrupt. Corrupt probably helped get them in position, but it didn't guarantee the down.

A lot of people also won't think all the way back through the game to remember Corrupt. If you go down at the end because of NOED, it's obvious. If you go down at the end because of the time Corrupt bought the killer in the beginning of the match, it's not as obvious.

So would you enjoy the main antagonist of Resident Evil 8 being a k pop star? Or adding nonhorror aspects like anime to it? I do enjoy the new coldwind. But the trickster is terrible visually

He's a serial killer that's also a k pop star. That's like saying would you be okay with a killer being a doctor or a nurse? Neither of those are necessarily horror. It's the rest of what makes up these characters that makes them horror themed.

And honestly, I don't think RE8 having a k pop star as the antagonist would be any worse when RE4 basically had Napoleon.

The fact that people are asking "Hey how can I depip and lower my rank in a fun way bothers me because you did all the work to get to where you are and didn't seem to have a problem then, now that you're ranked higher the game isn't fun anymore?

    Why is that exactly?

People like the dopamine rush from winning, but don't want to put in effort. So they depip to play against people worse than them so they can win without really trying. Now, I don't understand how someone can still get satisfaction playing like that, they probably need to feed themselves a bunch of reasons why depiping doesn't take away from their victories.

  • As a killer main, I really don't mind it. It can be a tiny bit frustrating since it's activated during a chase rather than at the beginning like sprint burst, but I still think it feels fair enough. It does take skill to use well though. Sure, a dead hard for distance might guarantee a pallet or whatever, but they had to get into that situation to begin with.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2146807#Comment_2146807

YES! Exactly! I'm sure they have a list a mile long of changes they want to make to the game. They just have a limited amount of bandwidth and have to prioritize. That's how software works.

I would put things like Trickster's balance issues on the level of "community-wide outcry", and things like that have been rare. There was no community-wide outcry against Moris. People had been regularly complaining about them for years, most people accepted that they were an issue aside from the "survivor OP, killers need stuff like this" crowd, and they finally got changed. Deathslinger is similar, but the volume is lower. There have been regular complaints about his power since he was released and most people do accept that zoning is garbage aside from the "survivor OP, killers need stuff like this" crowd. I'm sure he will be changed eventually like everything else that gets regular complaints.

The feedback has been loud in clear in that there are frequent posts about him here. The forum does tend to have a more killer-sided perspective, so it's telling that this still gets talked about a lot.

How is a win/win situation not an issue? The skill of the killer and survivor should both factor heavily into the length of the chase. No killer power should make survivor skill borderline irrelevant compared to the skill of the killer, and no killer power should be so weak that it's on the survivor to make a mistake. This isn't just the killer du jour that everyone is complaining about because they want nerfs. Most people agree he does not need nerfs. He's just annoying as hell to play against.

Any cons are entirely theoretical; this is just a "the devil you know" argument for not addressing an issue in the game. Should we not fix keys because the devs might make them worse, and besides those darned killer mains will just find some other item to complain about after? Like c'mon.

Okay, so by your logic every single thing in the game will be reworked, regardless of whether it needs it or not. We're just working our way down the list. And the ONLY reason a thing hasn't been reworked is because it hasn't had its turn yet. Really weird assumption to make. At the very least it would mean that the devs don't think changing deathslinger is important.

As far as the win/win thing is concerned, you're assuming the deathslinger plays perfectly. If we assume everyone plays perfectly, EVERY situation in the game turns into a 100% for one side or the other. Either the survivor or killer will always have an advantage. So I'd argue that the win/win situation you describe is not a win/win in actual gameplay. It is completely pointless to base things off of perfect play because that just doesn't happen.

And if you think the skill of a survivor is irrelevant when playing against a deathslinger, that's starting to make me think you're just delusional. You also said that no killer power should be dependent on a survivor making a mistake. Well, what other option is there? If there's counterplay to the power that works consistently then the survivor would HAVE to make a mistake in order for the power to do anything at all. If we're assuming everyone plays perfectly and no one makes mistakes, one side WILL win.

I think the real reason people dislike deathslinger is that the person who has to make the mistake is usually the survivor. Against most killers, if the survivors play perfectly, they'll win. So yes, the deathslinger can create some situations in which perfect play will guarantee their hit. But if they don't make mistakes, why shouldn't they get that hit? Is being rewarded for playing well just a survivor privilege?

...so, in other words, you agree with me that these things should have been changed first and changing Deathslinger should be a lower priority? And that the devs not changing him so far is not good evidence that he is never getting changed?

Community-wide outcries are rare. The feedback for Deathslinger has been loud and clear.

I'm curious why you wouldn't change him. Why does he need to be able to zone? It's just as braindead for the killer as it is for the survivor.

If you want to twist my words, sure. I could also say that by your logic anything that hasn't been changed is just lower priority. Literally anything that hasn't been reworked is just waiting for it's spot in the priority list.

How has the feedback been loud and clear? I've seen more threads complaining about dead hard than deathslinger and I don't think that needs changing either. People will whine. If it becomes a community-wide outcry like with moris then that means there should possibily be a change. An occasional complaint thread isn't 'loud and clear' feedback, it's just whining.

I don't necessarily think that he NEEDS the ability to zone, but I also don't think it's an issue and if changed would probably make him feel more awkward to play like overheating did for billy.

The cons of changing him could be massive. The pros of changing him means a few people will be happy until they find the next killer to complain about. It's a lose-lose situation if he's changed.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2146707#Comment_2146707

Maybe, but then you look at the other old things they're changing (iridescent heads, OoO, etc.) that have been complained about for years and you start to gather why their priorities might be elsewhere for the moment. It makes complete sense that buffing/nerfing killers/loadout items that are actually under/overperforming is a bigger priority than changing killers like Deathslinger, who are doing fine in terms of balance, even if they suck to play against.

There are TONS of complaints about Deathslinger on the forum. Like everything else that is constantly complained about, I'm sure the devs will get around to changing him eventually.

And if you look at how oppressive iridescent heads and OoO are, it makes complete sense why those things are being changed. The same can't be said about deathslinger. There are some complaints on the forum, sure, but definitely nothing like a community-wide outcry. It's just a vocal minority that hopefully the devs are smart enough to ignore.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2146669#Comment_2146669

Deathslinger was released before the devs started systematically revisiting recently-released killers for potential balance changes a few months after release. Given his overall balance isn't an issue, it also makes sense that other older killers have gotten a look before him. I'd be shocked if he stays like this long term.

Or maybe, just maybe, they don't think he's a problem?

I don't think they're playing the long game here, he's been like this for a year and there aren't that many complaints about him aside from people like OP.

  • It depends on what I'm working towards. If I want a teachable on a killer I haven't leveled up at all yet, I'll wait for a few hundred thousand. If I'm fishing for a perk on a certain killer and it could pop up any time, I spend them every match.

  • @jakesotto said:

Everyone who says that his power is balanced is wrong because the devs themselves changed pyramid heads power which did the EXACT same thing; free zoning just because they faked their power. It's either vault and get hit, or don't vault and get hit. It's not interactive, it's not fun, and there is no real counterplay other than losing line of sight against a killer who is still faster than you and can gain distance by faking their power.

Everyone who says his power isn't balanced is wrong because the devs themselves haven't changed his power. If you want to go off of the devs intentions why look at another killer they changed? They haven't changed deathsliner who, by the way, is a completely different killer from pyramid head. Seeing as the deathslinger was out when pyramid head was nerfed, the devs obviously felt he didn't need the same treatment. So YOU are the one who is wrong by your own logic.

So for killer it's helps out more? But for survivors it's not necessary right?

For survivors there's some situations where your ears are important, but most of the time it's not a huge deal and the sounds you're listening for are very loud. For killer, you're constantly tracking survivors so good headphones makes a big difference.

  • Because they're checking skill. It doesn't matter if the threshold is pretty low, it's still a check. Like when paramedics ask a patient if they know what day of the week it is.

  • A survivor on death hook does generators just as fast as an unhooked survivor.

  • Why does your example assume that all the generators have 0% progress when the facecamping begins? Unless all the survivors decide to afk for the first minute of the match, that's pretty unlikely.

  • You throw a temper tantrum, wasting 4 minutes of your own time when the survivors do exactly what they're supposed to and then you come here to complain about other people crying?

  • @Jerek said:

A general rule I follow is if I cant get a hit or pallet out of a survivor in less than 15 seconds I will leave them. If they go to a very strong loop like the killer shack or other unique map based ones, I'll just leave them. Because when you chase a survivor for too long the others are guaranteed to be on generators. So just break off and interrupt a survivor on a generator.

I usually let a few generators go though, because it is just impossible to defend every generator. This is also presuming that these survivors are actually doing generators and not searching for totems or chests. Because a friend group will do this all the time, just try to control which generators you want to defend by the end game and hook survivors as close to them as you can.

A big mistake I see other killers do, when I play survivor, is they either just don't give up a bad chase that alone will destroy any control they could scrounge up by then end without endgame perks.

Your perks and killer matter a lot in the style you should play as well. Ex: If you are playing wraith the last thing you should do is chase down a survivor. Instead focus on ambushing and cutting of survivors as you uncloak and most hits are guarantied that way.

This is huge. When you've been chasing a survivor for a bit, they'll know what they're options are because they've been looking for them. They will also hug the strong loops. Basically, the longer you chase a survivor, the more likely it is they are in a spot that they want to be chased in. Switching targets will hopefully lead you to a survivor that hasn't become quite as aware of their surroundings or maybe they're just in a flat out worse spot altogether.

  • I found I learned a lot on the killer side from watching Otzdarva. Make sure to watch the 2nd channel notOtzdarva though, that's the one where he actually explains what he's doing. The main channel is kinda memey highlight reels.

  • Oh no, you didn't get your pity escape? Console players must pay for this!

  • @Harold_Shipman said:

I tend to ignore survivors who are tea-bagging, they are after a chase, either because they want you to focus on them or they are just being toxic. Either way, I do not give them what they want, nothing good will come of it.

If you leave them like that, they also might waste their own time trying to get you into a chase repeatedly. Sometimes when I've ignored them, I've spotted them basically following me around which is great because it keeps them off a gen.

  • Some people have so few accomplishments that when they succeed in something small like surviving a match of dbd, they have to celebrate HARD because lord knows it could be years before they do something right again.

  • When I'm playing killer, survivors are toxic towards each other more often than they are to me in end game chat. I've even seen people get angry at their team when all 4 escaped which really just confused me. Like, you all got out, but you're still mad they didn't do well enough? Should they have escaped better? Just weird to me. They're usually not even being more specific than 'player bad' so it's not even constructive criticism from their team.
