Why are skillchecks called skillchecks.

They honestly take 0 skill. I like them and I think they are an intresting thing other than just holding m1. I like skillchecks just why for the love of god is the word skill even in the name and why is there so many perks centered around it.

  • What else do they call it? Occasional testing if you’re bored or not?

  • They check my skill. I'm awful at the damn things.

Just call them quick time events thats literally what they are

  • Because they're checking skill. It doesn't matter if the threshold is pretty low, it's still a check. Like when paramedics ask a patient if they know what day of the week it is.

  • Skill Checks are called Skill Checks because they check your Skill.

Totally not a samination loading screen tip he would put.

  • They should be called: "Attention Checks" because lets be fair, that's all they are lol.

  • Idk, hitting them when you're on 10 fps is pretty hard. ;)

But seriously, people have already stated pretty solidly: they check skill; how low the skill threshold must be is irrelevant.

They're only really there in order to try and deal with the boredom of holding M1.

  • When just starting the game, people cant hit them for #########. It took me about 2 weeks to get the hang of it. So yeah, while it's a low skill ceiling, there's some skill involved.

  • The things people will complain about... XD

I honestly love this community sometimes

  • It is for the survivors to believe that they are doing something skillful by holding down M1 and scaping.

  • It's a way to alert the Killer if you fall asleep while repairing.

  • I truly did not think such a question would ever be asked. The answer is literally in the name, and the gameplay, and the entire purpose of QTE's. If you find them easy, whatever. Maybe go check on all the people just starting the game who can barely hit "good" checks, let alone "great" ones, and ask them why they're called "skillchecks".

True story if a patient gets that question wrong there's an explosion and the killer is notified

Im sure the killer would you know hit you to wake you up, skill checks are just looking out for you

  • It's kind of the same thing as skill checks in board games

Roll a dice and you want to hit a successful number and there is a great success number while some numbers are bad.

It's not a perfect 1 to 1 example but similar enough

  • it is an event, an event that requires skill, skill that is being tested, thus your skill is being checked

If you have a cutscene and all of a sudden you are in control DURING this scene. That would require Quick Reactions. Timing. Limited Event.

These two are somewhat similar, but also completely different. Hence the different ways to call them

  • I refer to them as vibe checks

  • Because they check your skill.

  • I mean timing is a skill.
