It always did, just Stake Out made it more accessible to other players, at the cost of a perk slot and a perk from a licensed character. In fact Hyperfocus is also licensed so there is now far less incentive to buy the following DLCs:

    Resident Evil Project W (Hyperfocus)
    Saw (Stake Out)
    Nightmare on Elm Street (Vigil)

    Nops.
Stake Out made it incredibly easy to get and keep 6 tokens of Hyperfocus.
Sometimes I do bring Hyperfocus on trials BY ITSELF just for the challenge of getting 6 tokens.

it felt like a lot of the moderation was vibes based which makes it hard for consistency in regulation. you gotta hope you get the "right" mod. I got hit for literally just saying the new Zanshin was "lazy and half baked". I'm sorry but that kind of moderation guarantees there will be no longer term community. Shame because things seemed less stifling lately, as new additions like Balrog were pretty chill.

I'm pretty sure he is the one who banned my 2nd, 3rd and 4th accounts XD
    All for lame, minuscule reasons.

Well, the Forums closing down is sad to read. And honestly, I dont think that this will work with Discord. Another game I play (World of Tanks) removed their forums not too long ago and migrated to Discord and it is not compareable at all. The Forums were full of discussions, help and Memes/Trolling (in a good way), Discord is just dead. And I think something similar will happen to this Forum. Because of just a simple reason: People who use Forums use them, because they like them. If they would want to discuss on Discord, they would do that already. Or are doing that already.

But here on the Forums are probably the most dedicated members of the DBD Community and players who are really invested into the game. Throwing this away is pretty weird.

And when it comes to user decline… I think one big factor is simply the warning system. Sorry, but you can have thousands of good posts, but if you have just very few bad posts, you might get banned. Pulsar is a prime example for that: 23k Posts, usually very respectful and detailed in their posts with lots of explanation for their points. I bet the number of Posts which lead to the Ban is below 20. Naturally this leads to a shrinking community, because either you get banned or you see other people being banned and lose the interest on the Forums.

    @Brimp said:

Bit sad to see. But wondering why the forums were less active after the Pulsar incident where people concluded a small infraction could get you banned is definitely a choice to behold. I wonder how I managed to stay this long considering I don't filter myself outside of straight verbal abuse at least from my memory especially compared to Pulsar which was WAY more respectful compared to me.

I kinda disappeared for a bit but when I came back he was gone.

How could someone who was as mild as them get hit

And yeah you are a bit "spicy" with how you deliver stuff at times but you haven't legit started a huge attack against someone

This here is my 4th of 5th account in these forums.
The warning notification is so damn stupid. The 3rd one locks you out of your account and you don't receive an email notification or anything to know what you did wrong. You log back after 30 days and finally can see what you did wrong, which 95% of the times are minor, stupid things like saying "X in this game is braindead and needs to go".
The ADMs and mods are the very reflection of people these days: everything is a heavy offense that justifies going next in real life.
Well… at least now I'll be able to interact with the official channels only with my "main accounts".
Let's see how much time I'll be able to keep them until they get banned as well.

Hyperfocus with TINH won't give you more than intended value, so overall progress you gain per max skill check is about 2 % less. I kinda disagree, while TINH makes greats slightly easier to hit it won't be baindaid for those who can't hit them normally making Hyperfocus skill based perk again and TINH more appealing to make greats slightly easier while not abusing them.

    Agreed.
At least Hyperfocus now is braindead free/needs actual skill.

  • @Doctor_Xenomorph said:

this seems more-so as a non-issue if you ask me personally - and this is coming from a non apologetic killer main.

At least now "exploiting" Hyperfocus is skill dependable, but I still think this perk should not work with any other that change skill checks in any way.

  • @Rick1998 said:

Feedback for the : " This is not happening " buff effectivelly replaces stakeout when paired with Hyperfocus . No longer requires you to build tokens nor does it require you to be injured. I will be honest i was never insane at hitting great skillchecks back to back so hyperfocus and stakeout was a good combo for me despite me always thinking the combo to be a bit too strong . The " this is not happening" skill checks are huge and for myself who plays on a good pc with the skillckecks bound to m4 i can just hit great skill checks all day now with this perk . The perk just can't work with hyperfocus on it's current state because it is just the best combo to cut a gens time by over Half . I'm a just hoping this was an oversight because this combo trumps any other gen speed up perk for survivor by a Very large margin.

I gave up on this forums, but came back exactly to point this.
BHVR made Hyperfocus more of a menace with the buff to This Is Not Happening.

it is literally in the perk description . Try it on the ptb . Now you don't need to have a risk being injured . I can just sit on a gen and hit greats nonstop .

    Precisely.
I also tried this and hitting greats is much easier and consistent.
This change to This Is Not Happening can't go live.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

It is concerning that people like those are DBD Creators and others get their twisted opinions. BHVR really needs higher Standards for their Creators, they already had some very questionable Fog Whisperers back then and it seems like it did not get better.

Aside from killer / surv mains/biased creators we LITERALLY have Creators that tell you to uninstall your life if you play too good or bad either side at the end game chat or speak it while they are streaming.

  • @crogers271 said:

1: BHVR probably does want to keep games 'fast'. They continue to introduce perks that can synergize to make escapes even faster and haven't touched toolboxes despite hitting so many other things. I suspect, especially ever since the days of killers stalling out the game, they've concluded that the player base enjoys games on the quicker side.

2: That said, bringing in game modes as evidence is a poor argument. The game modes are designed to have different experiences.

3: The idea that this is 'whiny survs' is absurdly wrong. It wasn't survivors who asked for so many other possible things they could do to be nerfed. That was killers. Every strategy survivors have had to be off gens has been nerfed or outright destroyed, generally by killers saying 'but high MMR survivors are too good!'. The current state of gen rush is very much a bed that killer complaints led to.

    Thanks for repyling. :)
At least you brought arguments in a, let's say, "polite" way. You just presented them instead of just saying "you're wrong" or being ironic. I've created this account to try and have this kind of discussions, but by lurking these forums in the past months proved me that indeed 99% of the people here are just kids who can't have a decent conversation about a subject or entitled players from both sides that will say the most absurd stuff.

For me gen rush is indeed an issue because you can escape by having ZERO skills. Tunneling at least requires you to win a chase and there's no perks that were developed with the purpose of helping killers tunnel. I also think that games could be faster without speeding up gens or turbo tunneling.
You got a point about the only thing viable for survs to do being doing gens (even if you said it with different words). There's such good perks that are kinda useless because nothing for survs is better than doing gens. I don't like speeding up them because it "robs" killers of the time they have to do anything in the match in a completely skill less way. Good survs can escape without using things like Hyperfocus+Stakeout.

Anyway, I give up this forums.
    Logging out.

Most hands off regression that causes an explosion forces survs off gens. Pain res, surge, eruption etc. TBTC is following the normal pattern for perks like that.

You got 100% of upvotes here? Damn!
    I've just witnessed a miracle.

  • @Good_Pancake said:

To me, I don't think you should be able to use turn back the clock when survivors are using the gens. It's just like how you can't kick it when they are on there - you need to kick them out first.

This is yet one of the many flaws this game has that I hope are fixed in DbD 2.0.
Like the flaw that survs exploit and call "Heal Tech". Not saying a killer being unable to kick a gen while survs have their hands on them is a tech of course.

  • @dangersmymidd1ename said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4101700#Comment_4101700

Yeah but the average survivor has a hard time, and it's too easy for killers to tunnel off hook. So at least this way they are more likely to go after the unhooker.

    There's three issues:

1-There are instances where the killer have to eliminate a surv ASAP and people bringing Hyperfocus+Stakeout more and more (which is a way of winning without skill or thinking involved) is making these instances happen much more.
2-Survivors are becoming worse/dumb/less skilled with every patch. Sure solo q is bad, but it's because of the lack of info which is something that can be fixed. The amount of handheld is making them become bad and bad. I keep seeing my teammates doing the worst and/or dumb decisions time and time again because they are becoming worse.
3-All these handheld in the hands of good survs make the game extremely broken. These are designed with bad survs in mind, not good ones.

  • As far as I understood is 15s of BT PLUS Elusive (which is pretty damn ridiculous) and then just 10s of BT after the gens are done.
Seriously. 15s of Elusive. I can deal with a killer tunneling me most of the time. Playing survivor is becoming more dumb with every patch to the point I barely have fun.

I love how you think a made-up progression economy that is strictly for rewarding players who put time and energy in (something I've done for roughly 8.5k hours now since '16) is somehow worth defending the multibillion-dollar corporation over. You're the type of guy who gets a free dessert at a restaurant on your birthday and pitches a fit and demands they send it back. You're the type of guy who sees someone help an old lady across the road, and your reaction is to hate how performative and narcissistic the person helping is.

I think I have at least one more in me, gimme a second…

You're the type of guy who sides with the Developers of a game for the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration (a number that was ONLY reached because people put up with the mess that is DbD) and want LESS content and LESS rewards during a time of CELEBRATION because of… Greed. You think a funny, little shareable offering between Killer and Survivor that encourages a good time, win or lose, is something worth implementing artificial scarcity over. You are the entire circus.

They don't respect our time or of those who are just starting out. You can buy bloodpoints unless you stupidly pay to finish the rift early. They don't lose money by us getting extra blood points. If anything they're losing money with this tactic because it's turning people away that could potentially spend money on skins and getting the rift. I know I'm not spending any more money on this game for sure.

This game has a ridiculous grinding and last year when FNAF was sure to bring more people to play they've decided to start with this less cakes crap.

    @Cornil said:

I mean. The distance between EA and BHVR, or EA and virtually any other studio these days, is a very fine line now. You give BHVR the amount of income, funding, and publishing power that EA enjoys? You’d watch them become the exact same company in like 4 months flat. Just look at Bungie, they made Halo for crying out loud. They claimed that Activision was the problem, signed on with Sony instead who then gave them more direct control to self-manage. They killed off over half their playerbase with like, two bad minor decisions during seasonal content and one bad DLC (out of the 10 that the game had) and now Sony canned them for good, laid off half of the entire studio, including the execs who mismanaged it. Lot of people blaming Sony, the publisher, just like EA gets blamed. They’re the most money driven so they’re the obvious scapegoat. But what many fail to realize is that the lower level decisions, between the average developer and the publishing executive, create the real power moves. They are the ones that determine what happens and when, on the level that affects players the most. In my opinion, BHVR has proven that they can thrive well enough off of little success, it’s the little wins that keep them going. Power is all-corrupting, as they say. I think BHVR would be best to keep their focus on the little things, keep players engaged and prioritize fun for everyone over raw balancing. Put the enjoyment of well-made events and content rather than rushing deadlines or over-engineering. What’s been going on, stuff like being cheap and stingy with anniversary offerings, is not a good sign for longevity. No amount of cosmetic, engine, or graphical upgrades will compensate for core changes to what makes the game fun.

    Awesome points dude!

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4094042#Comment_4094042

”BP economy” like it literally isn’t just a way to make your time feel more valuable because you gave your loyalty to the devs and decided to play the game a lot during the anniversary. It’s as simple as that. Sure? Reducing the amount of cakes by 500% doesn’t affect everyone’s ability to play the game, technically. Gameplay is unfazed. But for everyone who values their time, they’re going to look at the BP they stockpiled before the anniversary, think “man, I’m not even going to get a fifth of what I used to from this,” consider spending it at the current rate, then probably decide to just get off the game and wait until the anniversary is over just in case BHVR chickens out again and caves to demands.

Alternatively, maybe there’s some people who genuinely don’t care, or didn’t save up a lot to begin with, or somehow like the new event enough to muscle through it despite the bugs and the lopsided balancing. But a lot of longtime players are probably going to have this be the “straw that broke the camel’s back” moment that makes them skip the anniversary event, or even outright take a months long hiatus from the game entirely.

Burnout is real and this is an easy way to do it to your loyal playerbase.

    @Brimp said:

It just feels kinda bad. The cake amount feels scripted. I saw someone do around 5 prestiges, 1 with manual and 4 with auto spend. And every single time it was 27 cakes.

    @MrRetsej said:

I was cautiously optimistic BHVR would have returned the cake drop rate to what we saw prior to year 9.

Guess I was wise to lean into the cautious part of that. The fact they made no meaningful increase to the drop rate, kept the rarity to the absurd "Very Rare" level, and did nothing to address the fact that Survivor bloodwebs are more impacted because the cakes compete with the event items, is frankly insulting to players time and dedication to their game.

Is the 5 million BP compensation nice? It would have been if the cake spawn rate had actually been reverted to previous years. But with the spawn rates barely increased, it reads more like a distraction to shut people up.

Overall, this feels pretty tone deaf. Whoever it was in management that made the call to change the anniversary cake spawn rates last year and this year needs to reevaluate how much of a PR blunder this was and either revert the spawn rates or own up to this and explain to the community like we're 5 why the change was made in the first place. Then we can see if the decision was done for overall positive reasons for the games health or not. I'm doubtful.

Be really excited for the game being redone from ground up, but ALWAYS remember that no matter how good the update becomes, how great the new graphics and possibilities are it will still be a ship piloted by BHVR, so we'll never be safe of it colliding with the most ridiculous crap (Titanic - > Iceberg lvl).

It has to be intentional because this same decision of severely reduced cake rates happened LAST YEAR too. Once is understandable. Twice? But now even worse because of the rarity? Come on… Especially after giving people 10 million bloodpoints to spend, they KNEW what would happen.

Money, seriously that's it. The shrine was good like five years ago at most but there's well over a hundred perks now so the odds of getting the one perk you want is less than 1% and over the course of a year that's not great odds either.

Actually I have all perks, so the idea here was getting 8,4M BP by buying the 4 perks everyday.

  • @Brimp said:

I always thought bulk spending was universally known to not be good.

It is, but now that the cakes are Very Rare this became MUCH worse.

  • image.png

They made the cake a Very Rare (purple) offering.
Auto and Bulk spend always prioritize cheaper nodes going from the center to the borders, so if you want a little bit more of cakes spend your BP manually.

  • Spent an entire lvl "by hand"/no bulk spend and got only 14 cakes.
And this year we have something even better: the shrine is not updating daily!
I was gonna spend 8K shards everyday for a total of 8,4M extra BP until the evt is over, but this part of the plan went down the toilet.

  • Same here.
9M BP gave me 96 cakes. They did the same thing from last year.
I want to try and spend BP manually to see if it's a bug related to the bulk spend, but after 3 or 4 lvls the game keeps saying there's an error in the Bloodweb and goes back to the "press start" screen.

  • @Chomperka said:

New engine doesn't mean they are wishing to break already poor killer power balance 😂

Besides, its not an engine issue. How do expect "alien crawling walls" to play on maps like coldwind farm or swamp that are already super flat? People really like to daydream about stuff that doesn't really work. What's the point of bat vertical flying, to make Dracula even stronger on maps like saloon or the game?

    I've used a poor example.
Walking on wall with the maps we currently have would indeed be bad.
Think of it as any other thing that's currently not supported by the game like flying.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Exactly. I guess it can go so far that you can basically create a game in the game. Like for example Cry of Fear was a Mod for Half Life 1 and then became its Standalone Game. You could also create your own gamemodes to play. The possibilities are really huge with modding.

And I dont think that they will implement anything which can be tinkered with the game itself. So you will not have Mods in Public games. This is something they removed years ago, at some point in the past players were able to mod the game and put in their own cosmetics. Which in itself can be something BHVR would not want (because why pay for Skins when you can just mod some brown Outfits to look like those skins?), but it also lead to problems. Since people did not just design cool cosmetics or Legacy Skins for characters who dont have some or modding in characters from Franchises they like (e.g. there was a mod where you could play Sam from Until Dawn). But people decided to make Mods which make Trappers Traps bright pink or changed every Survivor cosmetic into something extremely visible from miles away. Or I have seen a mod where people made the walls of structures transparent.

    EXACTLY THAT.
That's why they call it Sandbox. You create something that is "confined" in it's "box".

And just now my brain exploded!
If BHVR don't create a game mode where you can play killer in 3rd person I'll do it myself!
I just thought about this now!

  • @Rogue11 said:

When they say modding, they don't really mean changing game files, creating your own retextures, etc right? I was under the impression they basically meant some kind of custom match creation tools where the community can create their own game modes?

I believe it could be something like what's available to Left 4 Dead.
Did you had the opportunity to play the Resident Evil campaigns for it?

  • @jonahthewhale said:

Alien still won't be able to walk on walls I bet. The new code will eliminate the majority of bugs that have never left the game. It will undoubtedly bring new bugs in, but moving forward into a modular code will make endless bugs a thing of the past as well as changing one thing won't make everything else break due to each piece of the game (maps, characters, items, perks) being placed in their own space within the code rather than all stacked on top of each other like it is in the current version.

The spaghetti code causes a change on Dracula to affect a random corner of a map. That type of stuff won't happen once the new code is put in.

That's what I believe too. New code = no more spaghetti.
BUT I think we are getting some new possibilities. Not sure if that means killers being able to walk on walls, fly, survs being able to barrel roll, but something new will be possible.

I dont think that the gameplay for the game will really change. This is just a working formula and they wont risk it.

However, since they will make it possible to mod the game, this is what will guarantee that the game can basically go on forever.

If they change it too much it will indeed spells catastrophic failure.
I'm just curious about the possibilities and hoping all this nasty crap like heal tech gets removed.
Some bugs became features like Billy's curves, but heal and crouch tech are simply unfair and definitely there will be people complaining that BHVR killed skill expression.

Yeah fair point, it would still be really hard to balance.

    Changes i'd prefer would be:

Deathslinger able to grapple to certain points on the map giving him some form of small mobility.

Nemesis can now rope swing using his tentacle in t3, allowing him to have a tiny bit of mobility.

trickster rework so he has more of an agile power allowing him to dash and inbetween dashes can throw out a blade.

They could also give survivors new tools/mechanics to make fair for a killer to, for example, walk on walls or have new ways for mobility. :)
That's also something I'm hoping for (new mechanics) because aside from the killers the game is the same as it was on release with killers chasing survs circling objects that have windows or pallets attached to them.

These would all be really cool changes if they weren't the best killers in the game. Aside from that walking on walls tends to be buggy, along with the fact that BHVR doesn't like giving killers vertically due to well, more bugs. (RIP Sky Billy)

    That's the thing.
They are rebuilding the game, not fixing it.
It's basically a new game without calling it DbD 2, so all these limitations would go away. If a killer is not walking on walls it'll be by design, not because the game can't handle it. :)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/468683/suggestion-to-improve-1v1

    I don't know too much about the 1v1s, I don't even do 1v1s personally.

I mean, the whole purpose of a genuine 1v1 is learning how to loop better versus how to use a killer functionally.

I don't think anyone in the comp scene (which is where it originated) do Nurse 1v1s unless they're trying to get better at going against Nurse.

That's why a lot of 1v1s involve Trapper, I think the core point of a 1v1 would be locked on a specific killer. It makes no sense for a Dracula main to use Dracula against the Nurse player and vice versa. They operate and are functionally completely different from one another.

But if it works like that, then sure. It's not normally how 1v1s operate, however.

    I mean as an option.
People who want to use the same killer go with option 1
Players who want each to use a killer go with 2 :)

okay but can you at least confirm you are making changes to that perk as it was busted in PTB

    THIS!

  • So Cross Examination is being added to the game the way it was on PTB?!

Nothing - only 50k per day.

We only got the 2 pieces yet. I guess we get these every time a new set of challenges launches.

Then I didn't lost any Iri shards or any other thing than a few BP scraps.
    Thanks lad! o/

streetwise didn’t get killswitched for how long?
The devs straight up came and said it was a non-issue.

It was actually so bad people were saying killswitch streetwise on overwatch posts XD

While legion is killswitched for the entirety of the blood moon event only for bhvr to announce, while he’s still killswitched, that he wouldn’t be returning to 2v8 and half of the roster likely will never come to 2v8.

yeah you’re right killers are just whiny babies who want everything on a silver platter.

Right then, so on the note of Legion bein' kill-switched for the whole Blood Moon event… I honestly reckon that was done on purpose. Farming up those Blood Points with that killer was a doddle, and they're a right pain in the arse to go up against, ye know? They let the kill switch stay on for the entire duration of the Blood Moon.
