I don't think Otz's overall point was 'Don't use NOED'.
I think his point is 'Don't rely on noed to get kills instead of learning to get better with powers & killer pressure'
Which I think is a valid point

The perks are too weak for those kind of odds. You have to consider the killer using powerful hex perks as well reducing the amount of dull totems available. This doesn't even consider the amount of time looking for a new totem.
You can boon over hex perks though
-
I would guess it has an escalation, much like the forums
First ban probably 24 hrs then a month and then permanent or smth like that
-
The dream world itself might not be too threatening
But by being in the dream world, you are affected by snares and pallets - things that can mess you up in a chase if you're not careful
Condemn does nothing against mediocre survivors, nevermind good survivors. It's not a slowdown, survivors have 0 incentive to mess with it. It's a completely optional side objective outside of maybe one addon or smth

Survivors being hooked is inevitable. You know this because of bloodlust and anti-loop killers. The game makes certain a survivor goes down regardless of survivor choice.
I did provide a counter, stepping on the boon. But we are not fair and balanced. We are ensuring killers can permanently disable a perk while killer perks like BBQ, POP, Scourge can't be permanently disabled. I know some of these perks might be getting nerfed but I'm sure there are others too. I am naming the popular ones.
Bro shattered hope destroys the totem the boon is attached to, not the perk itself
there's still 4 other totems on the map by default
-
Yes, act like BHVR made a bad decision adding a new general perk to help out the various killers that are hard countered by certain boon perks and don't have the time nor mobility to constantly snuff them out. Keep in mind it's been YEARS since we last got a general perk like this.
They didn't add Shattered Hope for the benefit of Nurse or Blight, they added it for the benefit of weaker killers or to give killers more options/variety in dealing with it. Peanits even said they added it as a perk instead of basekit because having it be basekit might mess with some playstyles/ways killers can capitalise on mistakes.
For example - if you have survivors putting up boons that get snuffed very quickly, you want them to waste even more time putting it back up. Or maybe you have perks that rely on dull totems, which at the moment there are only two (Plaything & NOED) but it's possible more come in the future.
Also again, calling Dredge overpowered while Nurse still exists is hilarious. What's your criteria? Nurse is okay even though she ignores pallets and windows (The survivor defenses you're so fond of) but Dredge is OP because he has a form of anti-loop and has mobility? Your criteria makes no sense
-
An extension of the Ghostface chapter in some way would be pretty sick. I understand that obviously he's an original character wearing a licensed costume and the identity of 'The ghost face killer' is inspired by Scream but not a direct adaptation
An original survivor either related to Danny in some way (One of his victims, somebody who was on his tail or something like that) would be a pretty cool concept I'd like to see.
Alternatively, a Scream themed paragraph with Sidney as the main survivor would also really complete things. We'd then both have Scream AND Ghostface in the game. Seperate entities that are closely related
-
Well yeah if you think abt it it makes sense 🤔
Spirit's left leg is literally detached & suspended by entity magic, it makes sense that she'd be a bit slower
Sadako has two working legs
What doesn't make sense to me is the logical reason why Trickster is so slow when he was meant to be this performer on stage. Are his knives and bat really that heavy??? Or maybe it's his ego that's too heavy

Yeah, I mean this how I think it would make sense too, but I was hoping someone had actually officially clarified this point and I was just too dumb to find it.
Because it's kind of a big deal, I think, and we all know that sometimes, the most logical, sensible path isn't always the one taken in videogame development.
Think of it this way:
There's not a chance in hell that BHVR would roll out something to address the grind and (outside of a bug) it would take progress away from people.
Plus I think BHVR is smart enough to let people know ahead of time if they would lose progress intentionally.
-
I think anything that's already unlocked will stay unlocked, this is just how it will work with future characters
So it shouldn't have any negative effect on your current progress
-
It does
Here's what it looks like/with some other stuff I think:

I have all the characters I care about p3 with all perks thankfully
Just been working on the ones that I don't really play/care too much about. Like Twins

Hook timer is 2 minutes (120 seconds)
if the last 3 survivors split up and do 3 gens solo at 80 seconds, the person on the hook will have roughly 40 seconds left. Roughly since it doesn't factor in travel time and such. Although again if you factor in chase time and stuff it's possible it's higher or lower.
If the killer loses let's say 2 gens and starts facecamping with 3 left, then it's possible for the remaining 3 to finish the last gens before they die.
You can also drag out camping games like this by saving with BT/hoping they have DS. Then they'll be forced to either slug for an additional 60 seconds or pickup or take the stun and resume chasing. Some killers this isn't worth it like Bubba of course.
A lot of this goes out of the window though if you factor in perks like Deadlock and Dead Man's Switch. They muddle things up quite a bit

Ahh ok, maybe I just don't fully understand.
If someone sits on hatch for 3 minutes waiting for me to find them -- only to teabag over and over again as soon as I see them -- what message are they trying to send?
I thought it was an 'F you' but I may have misinterpreted it.
What is it?
Honestly it's hard to know sometimes, from your example it's probably more likely just them being smug about getting the hatch and trying to rub it in (Which tbh is laughable because it's pure luck)
Generally people see this stuff as BM but not necessarily hateful if that makes sense. Others try to justify it as a way of 'tilting' the other side into making mistakes and playing poorly. I don't know if you've ever played a game like Rocket League for example, people use the quickchat system in that game for a similar purpose (They spam "nice save!" after every goal for example)
I don't do it myself and I think it's crappy but it's not just about specifically 'hate' is my point.
Sometimes I like to point at the killer if I pull off a risky play or something I shouldn't have got away with, not out of hatred but as a means of going like "nice try". Contrary wise if I end up downed and they do smth like shake their head at me or w/e it's fair game.

They do have a way to express themselves, end-game chat.
For instance, I play Company of Heroes 2 and Starcraft 2 every day.
Each match begins with: gl hf
each match ends with: gg
Something about this community is special -- and not in a good way. If you feel a constant need through character movements to express your hate for someone playing a video game trying to have fun, something is wrong with you.
I fear this community is... not right upstairs.
The stuff ppl do in the game itself isn't always about hatred tho. End game chat yeah there's way too much vitrihol sometimes
-
Also worth pointing out in the majority of PVP games these days players have ways to many express themselves
Stuff like voice chat, quick chats, emotes, character voicelines and so on. Clicking, Tbagging and nodding is all we have in DBD really
Not justifying it, but I imagine that's a small part of it

There is some concern that the work's author has views on that direction. If not that then, very least, he has a very high opinion of Imperial Japan that comes through in his work, and they have their own laundry list of atrocities that modern day Japan doesn't like to acknowledge. Mostly perpetrated against its neighbors, such as Korea (hence specific mention of Jake)
I'm not very knowledgeable on the specifics but that's the gist as I understand it.
I see, interesting stuff.
Not a watcher of it so I genuinely have no idea if any of it's true, I always just got the impression it's a show about fighting the giant monster things and angst idk

your pieces like the one shown on stream have such a great grasp of movement, light, tone, color, shadow, and contrast
I was struggle alot...until I got alot of commissions, which force me to draw much more, and I actually improved since then. There are tricks for shading, contrast...its much more simple than you think. Im not really skilled, so I use alot of tricks : D
And I will say, as someone that was in art school, your deft grasp of proportions has me a bit jelly, I still struggle with it a bit after all his time lol
I mostly draw girls...explains why you see I grasp the proportion well in the featured art. Funny, it requires math.

TricksterShadow doesn't even care for DBD anymore. Once VHS is out he's jumping ship for that. I would take anything he says for a grain of salt.
But why tho
The data provided shows a massive improvement by BHVR if this change goes through and a signficant reduction to the grind for players both new and old
Why are you trying to discredit information that paints DBD in a positive light by saying the person who made it is jumping ship to VHS.

Yeah I know what you're referring to...
Maybe, if that turns out to be true I hope to see some monster designs on par with PH. Probably a good survivor candidate as well
-
Problem is Silent Hill doesn't really have any other good iconic monsters.
It has good monster design and a lot of unique ones but none that really exert the level of iconicness that PH had
Maybe if Silent Hills hadn't been canned we could've got Norman Reedus

that doesnt help when it isnt like mother's dwelling though because of the 6.0m/s run speed and the teammates just feeding their power
Yeah unfortunately when they feed him frenzy hits it's hard
The only silver linings are trying to do things like hiding outside the TR and making sure you're as far away from the action as possible (gets v hard late game if the gens are close)
I get the same feeling when vsing a myers who shows up and just insta-tier 3s and downs me. Like damn they fed him and I suffer for it 😞
-
This is why I run bond most of the time
if It's a legion and I see my teammates I straight up leg it to the other side of the map as if they've got some kind of disease
-
If your game sense tells you that it's a bad idea to stay, then just leave
That's how I do it - If I've played well and I think I'll die if I try to pull off something risky like idk saving against a insta-down killer or something then I'll just take the escape and hope my teammates do the same.
There's nothing wrong with it, it's the smart play. It's just the smart play is also kinda boring sometimes. Going for risky plays is fun, rewarding if you can pull it off and gives you a sweet dopamine hit.
So honestly, don't feel bad no matter what you do.

Sorry but RE4 is one of the most widely regarded video games ever made, and it's one of the corniest self-aware Resident Evil games ever made. Wesker's not even in it.
I do prefer the more serious tone of things like the remakes of RE1, RE2 etc but I also love the corny stuff as well. DBD's full of characters like that and that kind of horror has its place imo

- Prove Thyself:Increases your Repair speed by +15 % for each other Survivor
- within 4 metres of your location, up to a maximum of +45 %.
- This effect is also applied to all other Survivors within that range.
- Grants 50/75/100 % bonus Bloodpoints for Co-operative actions.
Literally says Increases your repair speed by +15%
No OP is right, if you're near a gen with Prove Thyself - you will increase the speed of somebody's repairs if you're not on the generator
I don't 100% know the math of it but I've def seen situations where I've been on a gen and the bar turned yellow before the person with PT got on
-
I still think Wesker will have some kind of NPC gimmick like Nemesis and the zombies
Maybe they'll repurpose the zombie AI and let him have a B.O.W accompany him during trials or something. Imagine if there was like a Hunter that Wesker could call upon during a trial for a limited time
-
Hey
If by some miracle archive challenge designers read this thread, I have a suggestion:
Please just make blood debt challenges 'Unhook a survivor who previously unhooked somebody earlier in the trial.'
Boom, done deal.
Here is a list of reasons why Blood debt challenges are badly designed:
1) They rely on you playing badly to get them done in a timely manner (Losing chase and being hooked)
2) They rely on the person who unhooked you playing badly and going down (Same as above)
3) If neither of the above happens at all during a trial, then the challenge cannot gain progress short of throwing (Which you don't want people to do)
4) They encourage bad habits such as hook diving and so on. If somebody else unhooks the person who unhooked you, once again - no progress.

The perk overhaul
I'm both excited and worried to see how it'll turn out.
Not a knock at BHVR, I'm just worried what changes will be made to perks that imo are pretty fine as is. Like Pain res for example.
-
Kinda glad to hear it's not gonna be an exclusive cosmetic, I had my doubts from the start bc there's no way in hell all licensed characters would be given an exclusive cosmetic for free like that
It has to be something general that probably doesn't affect the character itself. My guess is either a unique prestige banner or maybe something to do with that characters addons/offerings (I doubt it but imagine if they let that character have unlimited addons or something)

Here you go, this is from the official news post:
This new system is tied to a character’s progression and will reduce the grind significantly. Moving forward, the first three prestige levels will earn the corresponding tier of that chosen character’s perks across every other Killer or Survivor. It’s also worth noting that you will no longer lose any perks, items, and add-ons when levelling up a character’s prestige level.
For Example: If you raise The Trapper to prestige Level 1, all your Killers will receive the first tier of Unnerving Presence, Agitation, and Brutal Strength – they will also gain the ability to find tier 2 of those perks. in the Bloodweb, and subsequently tier 3. That process continues until you reach prestige level 3, when all The Trapper’s perk tiers will be maxed out for every Killer.

Ahh, I see. Makes sense. I play both sides but not competitively, so I just offer the maps that I enjoy looking around on sometimes. I didn't think about swfs ganging up on people. I only play solo lol hence the username
That's totally fine and I don't take huge issue with people using map offerings for gimmicks. Like Mirror Myers wanting Lerys for example
Hell they are helpful with archive challenges as well, e.g I like to burn The Game as Nemesis to do gen/pallet destroy challenges. Stuff like that
They're just too abuseable outside of that though unfortunately

Interesting take. Thanks for sharing. I've always thought it would be cool to vote on the map before the match, like in COD and others. If a survivor offers one, it could gain an extra vote talley or something.
At least in games such as COD and the like, all players are on equal footing - be it on two teams of equal size or free-for-alls.
In DBD it's 4 v 1 and 4 survivor map offerings can counter any the killer could put on. Even cancels the only thing Killers have to deny map offerings.
Sacrifical wards should be easier to get.
Also another point to bring up - whenever a map is broken or has an abuseable bug, map offering usage spikes. RPD library of pain or Midwich untouchable spot springs to mind. Without map offerings, those things would still be there but nowhere near as abuseable since the map would only appear purely by chance.
-

So then isn't that a map-balance issue and not an offering issue then? Would you still be just as mad if that map spawned randomly?
Yes and no
Yes I'd be a bit frustrated that I got a bad map, BUT
That frustration is lessened an enormous amount by knowing it was nothing more than bad luck. It wasn't the survivors/killer going "i'm picking a map that favours me".
It is a balance issue in some ways yes. Offerings shouldn't be in the game either though because in a game that is pitting 2 sides against one another, why should either side be allowed to decide the playing field?
Alternatively, have map offerings be shown in the lobby to counteract this.
