How The Grind Is Changing (By The Numbers), A Thread By @TricksterShadow
Thread about how the New Prestige system changes the grind in DBD
So for those that don't know DBD is moving to a system that "auto unlocks" teachables on every character when you prestige.
The level of perk that is unlocked is dependent on your prestige level.
P1 = Level 1 Tch. Unlocked
P2 = Level 2 Tch. Unlocked
P3 = Level 3 Tch. Unlocked
Now as to how it affects the grind
The big thing this changes is that the grind NO LONGER gets exponentially bigger
Currently the grind is around 41.5 million BP added this chapter and that number goes up exponentially
The next chapter would be 42.7 million BP
~24.4 million BP is allocated to maxing out the 2 new characters
~17.1 million BP is allocated for re-leveling old characters
The HUGE part of this grind change is re-leveling
That ~17.1 million BP is NO LONGER needed
The NEW added grind would be a flat 8 million BP
This will NEVER go up (unless they add in 100s of general perks)
This 8 million comes from getting 2 characters to P3 Level 15 (to unlock the 4 perk slots)
In terms of hours this moves the grind from ~350 hours of grind each chapter (which grows with every chapter)
to ~70 hours of grind added every chapter
Hours of Grind to max:
Old = ~6000 hours
New= ~2000 hours

Comments
Thats a start but could use more later in the year
These numbers are basically starting from 0, for people who are already in the game with hours it's much less than this
TricksterShadow doesn't even care for DBD anymore. Once VHS is out he's jumping ship for that. I would take anything he says for a grain of salt.
But why tho
The data provided shows a massive improvement by BHVR if this change goes through and a signficant reduction to the grind for players both new and old
Why are you trying to discredit information that paints DBD in a positive light by saying the person who made it is jumping ship to VHS.
If he doesn't care about dbd he has absolutely no reason to make this out to be a good thing, which he does at the end of his tweet
The guy has always been pretty impartial and seems like he just wants the game to be better.
This is excluding the fact that you can also boost teachable levels through the shrine. So if you have Ruin at t2 on all killers because hag is p2lvl1, but you want t3, instead of leveling up through the bloodweb, you can also buy it through the shrine and have it t3 on all killers without leveling hag.
So there are 2 options:
p1=t1 p2=t2 p3=t3
1 shrine purchase of perk x=t1 on all. 2nd shrine purchase of perk x=t2 on all. 3rd shrine purchase of perk x=t3 on all.
With that in mind, you can pretty much get all perks on all characters with only 150 million BP and 50k shards(ish).
The only thing that is missing, is survivor BP being more natural. Right now, to gain max BP you need to: Fix 2.5 gens(preferably together), heal 3 teammates(preferably together), boon/cleanse 4 totems OR be in chase for 8 minutes. Use DS and Deliverance and self heal twice, then die as the obsession, or use DS and escape as the obsession. You are basically playing 3 seperate games.
While as a killer, to get max points, you just chase survivors. That's it. Hitting is seperate from hooking, killing is seperate from that, using your ability is another one. So you very naturally get a lot of points.
The fact that a survivor who has been chased all game can die with only 8k BP is simply unacceptable
But you do not even need to be good at math to figure out why this system is much better. It is pretty obvious that just prestiging a character and instantly unlocking the perk for everyone is substantially better than, well... Not. All my level 50 killers will be p1 once this update drops and 1/3 of the grind is instantly gone and I immediately have access to everything. Insane.
I do not even know who TricksterShadow is, but you should only take opinions with a grain of salt. The numbers are pretty objective, fam.
