To be completely fair, there is/was a nurse challenge. Shocked Legion is that high though...

He's always been a v popular killer tbh

  • BHVR reverted Mettle of Man only to nerf Blast Mine in the same patch

Has to be something ironic about that

  • I want this so badly but I can forsee so many issues with the map

For starters outside of the main hall, the map would be extremely narrow unless they took the time to completely stretch/expand all of the areas out

Also from what I can recall from my REmake playthrough there's quite a few dead end areas/one way areas that would need to be addressed in some way.

Actually yeah, maybe she should give more warning instead. Like the post above me said, she might get too weak with 4.4 since she can be countered with holding w sometimes.

    I think it could work!

It wouldn't fix all her issues but it'd be a step in the right direction

  • The big meta shift patch wasn't that bad.

  • So essentially she's 110% meaning she's a bit slower in regular chase but her power essentially allows you to become completely invisible visually and travel at high speeds. Survivors only hear a whoosing sound and have a general idea of which direction you're approaching from. Upon exiting phase, she maintains her speed for a brief duration which can be used for a bit of a longer reaching lunge (This is known as the 'reappearance'). Think of it like Wraith's post-uncloak speed burst, it's very similar

The main use for this is using the fast speed to close distance with survivors and hit them. Spirit is a very sound reliant killer because when she enters her 'phase' survivors are completely invisible to her as well. You can only see scratchmarks and hear sounds such as footsteps, grunts of pain, generators and so on.

Also a side note but when you enter Phase, you stand still and leave behind a 'Husk' which keeps your terror radius until your power ends. Not a huge part of her power but it's something to be aware of

  • Garden of Joy bushes are the strongest bushes in video game history

They make feared killers like Bubba and Oni cower in fear

Yes, great idea. Kill off gimmicky fun combos just to prevent a non-issue interaction.

I didn't expect anything else tbh.

Classic snark for no reason, all because my opinion is different to yours

Also not an argument really but you do you

  • @SuzuKR said:

There's all sorts of ways to game it currently. On demand timed stealth and then pick up to prevent Starstruck reveal till timer runs out, for example.

You mean a rare interaction that only memelords like Benjo use?

If anything proximity based Starstruck is a buff to half the cast since not all killers have a 32m terror radius. Might make the perk actually worth running on Killers that aren't Nurse. Would also work against survivors who are oblivious - another buff.

Nurse shouldn't be allowed a 44m exposed radius, It's just over the top.

  • @SuzuKR said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3156172#Comment_3156172

If Starstruck works off proximity, then that becomes a problem because it automatically means the survivor knows the killer is in that distance, which also screws over stealth.

No it doesn't, outside of knock out or blindness being used - survivors always know where a killer who picks someone up is because of dying state aura reveals.

On top of that No Killer is undetectable while carrying on a basekit level without some very niche perks.

Starstruck being a permanent 32m radius around the Killer* seems fair to me.

    *While carrying

  • Range addons are being nerfed so

All I ask for is Nurse & exposed perks be tweaked. Be it Blinks as special attacks or the idea that Alf guy put forward about only the first blink being considered basic.

Alternatively, nerf Starstruck so that it's based on proximity to killer and not terror radius so you can't change it's range with TR perks like agitation

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3156160#Comment_3156160

That would be interesting as well but i don't think it would make all that much of a difference

even with the larger TR, a 4.6 killer with a power that gives you free zoning is still a 4.6 killer with a power that gives you free zoning

Yeah true, It wouldn't fix the oppressiveness in chase

I'm surprised BHVR hasn't tweaked Artist a bit yet, she's been out for a long time.

  • Depends on the killer I'm playing

Did you see what I did there

  • @blue4zion said:

With her potential, I don't think I'd be against a test for a slower Artist.

I can't really say if it's actually a good idea.

    @DragonMasterDarren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3156153#Comment_3156153

Honestly, considering just how versatile Artist's kit actually is (free cross map tracking, relatively easy injures and downs, and free zoning) i would like to see a 4.4 Artist test too

    What about a Wesker treatment?

As in 115 but 40m TR which gives survs more reaction time/earlier warnings to leave an area.

  • One of BHVR's best original killers ever, no joke

Playing Dredge is a blast and facing a Dredge is one of my favourite things too. His power is strong but not extremely oppressive normally (He has nightfall for that jump in power) and the remnant is a unique form of anti-loop that isn't just lazy caveman "unga bunga survivor animation lock punish"

    Amazing chase music

Unique sound design that changes depending on the skin the killer is using (Yeah they went the extra mile for this)

Also random fact, did you know Dredge is now the 2nd killer that has a unique animation when he's in a chase? (The first one was Ghostface!)

  • You're better off comparing Artist to the other projectile killers instead of Hag imo

Huntress, Trickster and Deathslinger all have kits that are similar to Artist in one way or another but they have way more weaknesses and less map presence than she does. Those 3 are 110 while she's 115.

Someone made the argument earlier in the thread "she has to hit you twice with her power to damage" but that's only if you're playing purely for bird injuries/downs. Her power is extremely potent at zoning and shutting down tiles while having all the strengths of a 115% killer. I've seen many artists land a bird hit then instantly m1 a survivor very similiar to what a huntress can do.

(To clarify i'm not saying she should be 110, but rather arguing that she can do what a lot of other killers can only do while also maintaining none of their weaknesses)

The only other Killer you could compare Artist to would probably be Pyramid Head, if only for the fact they have a medium ranged projectile that ignores walls but the similarities end there imo.

  • I love this one so much

    Joey best legion

mhm. Its a pretty common thing. Some people do just hate the enclosed FOV though im sure.

    That's awful, sorry to hear

an FPS game not having FOV options in 2022 is a disgrace tbh

  • Because when it comes to game balance, making a killer 4.6 is essentially shorthand for "even if they don't use their power they can still chase normally" which is way better for newer players. Slower killers are notoriously punishing if you can't use their power not even perfectly, competently.

The last 4.4 killer was Trickster, who according to data has the 2nd lowest killrate overall. I imagine this is a big factor in why BHVR has steered from 4.4 killers for now

  • Give alert the lethal pursuer treatment

It extends all timed aura reading by two seconds

So it's base effect becomes 7 seconds and gives it more synergy with other timed aura perks . Granted survivor doesn't have too many of them but it'd be nice for some niche builds while also still being really viable on its own

  • I genuinely enjoy seeing a lot of familiar faces on here but I will say I have to give props to the people who make PSAs/Code threads/Helpful threads for others

Survivors have been too afraid to speak up and that's why the game is really failing hard and survivors overnerfed and killers over buffed, constantly. Survivors shouldn't be so easy to be silenced or intimidated.

Sluzzy this is a video game, not an authoritarian regime

    Stop with the melodrama

  • Sometimes when I was bored I'd play Wraith and if there was a streamer in the lobby, I'd put blink addons on and whenever I was chasing them I'd just aggressively bing bong just to see their reaction. Cloaking doesn't slow wraith down much

    It was very amusing

  • Commit to the meme

Starstruck and Forced Penance will work once then survs will just not get involved. Mad grit is way more insidious of a perk and if you run these perks survivors will never consider taking hits

  • You want something that'll actually ruin your/your opponents ears?

I've dubbed this build Tinnitus Wraith:

Wraith with Bone Clapper and The Blink - White addon (reduces cloaking time by 60%)

I don't recommend it but it's way worse than mad grit demo.

  • @BradQuackson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3153213#Comment_3153213

Yes actually, when PC only queues was still a thing I was trying to find a unique build and I ran mostly information perks FOREVER, not because I couldn't find people, but because I like to shape the game how I want to play and predict survivors decisions before they even make them.

Lets say I am running my favorite build, which you can find somewhere in the replys, and I am playing on macmillan estate, suffocation pit, and I spawn on the coal mine side of the map. I already know people are going to be spawning in either two places, the top right near shack spawn, or the edge of close left top of the map. I want to pressure the top right side because it is MOSTLY a deadzone, and they will be downed instantly, as that spot is almost unplayable. If my discordance procs like it usually does in the topright I hit one person, pretend not to see the second, down him, get a spot on the TOP LEFT side of the map because a survivor will be at the hillside generator (if it is generated that way) and get them off that generator and potentially start another chase, thats 3 survivors I know where they are, assuming I havent seen the 4th he ran towards the south side of the map. Let him get that generator and the injured guy either A. Stayed on a gen, or B. Ran to the opposite side of the map. That means that they are zoned off because I will be able to contest the unhook because its a high traffic area. Down the logpiles guy, and hook him towards the SOUTH SIDE OF THE NORTH SIDE ZONE to create a double hook, impossible to beat pressured scenario where the game is ALREADY over, within 30 seconds.

    Good answers, much appreciated

  • Is there anything interesting you feel you learned by doing this?

Like outside of what you wrote in your post, is there anything that surprised you or made you rethink the game? I feel like doing something like this would have some surprising things for sure

  • A licensed survivor that's not just a rip straight from the source material; Yoichi is not only a great character from the film but DBD has grown his character, showed us what happened to him after the events of his encounter with Sadako and how he ends up throwing away his life in pursuit of the curse

No other licensed survivor has this kind of development really.

  • I think I disagree but if you hear me out I'll explain

Spirit's power at its core without perks or addons - is still really good but it's also more manageable for survivors due to the information survs have to work with. Ideally you don't want Spirit to be S tier, you want her to be in the A or B tier because those tiers house killers with powers that are (typically) more balanced for both sides.

However, recently I realised that people tend to overestimate the addons a spirit is using - I've seen many dbd streamers be like "wow this spirit must have MDR" and all they had was yellow addons that increased her power charge or her movement speed by 10%. I think this is because it's genuinely hard to tell what addons a Spirit has, It's sort of like a reverse of the ranged addon scenario where it was really noticeable

This is more of a personal experience but I've faced Spirits using MDR and half the time I can't tell the difference. Maybe it's how I play or what but I struggle to notice the difference. Dried cherry blossom is an addon I notice though. Hate that thing

  • A lot. More than people might think

Sound design is always a 10/10. The only real blunder in this department recently that comes to mind is Ghostface's various chase music themes and the sound design of the brown glyph thing. Every chapter for the longest time has had stellar audio from the Killer, to the chase music and menu themes.

The cosmetic design team. Not really too big into buying cosmetics but most of them are pretty good, unique and especially on the Killer side they are always nice to look at. Some get more love than others in this area though but I doubt it's the design teams decision.

Recent license adaptations have been stellar in terms of design and authenticity. Pinhead, Sadako and now Wesker are all extremely faithful to the source material, have just the right amount of fan service/film references and even more. Giving Pinhead and Wesker voicelines for example wasn't necessary but they did it because they knew people would love it. Most Original killers are really good too,

Communication has been much better this year than any other I feel like. We got a solid roadmap as well as multiple dev updates in a very short timespan.

Or maybe do something mindblowing and let DS have a different effect on different killers. Give it a 6s stun vs Nurse and Blight, 5s against other high mobility killers, and 3-4 against low-tier and middle of the road killers.

I know that BHVR isnt a big fan of this approach, as they want all the perks to be working the same way all the time, but honestly, by now the roster is so varied that you can't just apply the blanket solution to all of them. Pull on one end just a tiny bit and you lay bare something on the other end.

They could do a catch all solution and just have DS inflict some kind of new status effect on the killer that stops them using their power for a few seconds.

like idk the 'Staggered' status effect

Also I'm glad killers don't really slug to wait out DS anymore, it was such a boring thing.

  • Would anyone be opposed to Oppression getting a buff that makes gens hit by it regress faster? Kinda like a mini overcharge/call of brine effect

It's current effect is nowhere near close to being worth an 80 second cooldown

Using others videos as some sort of validation is just dumb. Its a "see !!!!! i was right !!!!!" moment. Just because mr content creator agrees with their opinion. Alf is so far from the normal that its not even funny. Hes one of the best killers on the game, period. Doesnt matter that its with nurse. On top of what he is. Hes using THE strongest builds in pubs matches against mediocre survivors. His win streak is more about skill gaps and MMR. Then it is about nurse.

Not for nothing. If you want to use Alfs opinion when it comes to nurse. He's also said SEVERAL times that survivors of equal skill would stomp him (ayrun, hens...Whoever you know that you consider a good survivor) He willingly admits that they would out him easily...I've said this before. It was met with " lulz....of course nurse main would say that good survivors would beat him"...So other then narrative...What is the difference ? If he says "nurse is OP !!!" people will use it and say see !!! Yet when he says people of equal skill and experience would out him. Those same people say "of course he would say they could beat him !!!"

Yeah I mean I wasn't using the video as validation, I was just curious why you seemed to imply his opinion wasn't worth listening to. I don't like the content creator echo chamber stuff as much as anyone but same time it's worth hearing someone out right?

Sorry if I got the wrong idea about your post, I appreciate the explanation!

  • It's in the Wesker PTB

They gave the addons an extra condition that makes it so Nurse always travels at the same speed regardless of range addons

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYFpYcXPfFQ

Go to 0.32 seconds for comparisons

  • They made escaping go from 5k to 7k bp for surv so, yes this needs to happen

Either increase how much you get when someone is killed or maybe a better idea is just increase bp across all hook related score events - which should also apply to killers who have powers that interact with the sacrifice category like PH and Onryo

  • The simple fix would just be giving it the autodidact treatment

    as in

"This perk does not work with toolboxes"

  • Was done well for Felix, Elodie and Twins. I like their involvement there

Felt kinda forced for Artist though, her story revolved around the totalitarian chile government but then there's suddenly the black vale operating under a fake alias that might as well have been 'vlack bale'

Using the very best as the standard is a bad idea. That's like say because an NFL QB can throw 40 yrs your average person can do the same.

I agree with the logic for the most part yeah.

Although it's a tiny bit ironic, a bunch of people on the forums tend to gatekeep opinions about nurse a lot. They say stuff like

"Oh you think that because you're probably bad/don't know how to play against Nurse"

    "You've probably never played Nurse."

"Post you 4king as Nurse under these circumstances..." etc

    And so on.

Not saying that's you btw, just some people I've seen frequent the Nurse threads.

Take Overwatch's SR system as an example. Top 500, GM, Master, etc. The system assigns a skill rating from 1-4000+ and breaks down the rankings within that. Most ranked OW games I've ever played maybe had a difference of 1000 SR tops if the lobby was screwy. I've seen Gold in a mostly Bronze game.

Now take DbD for example: a fresh account is 900 MMR. The soft cap used for matchmaking is 1700 as far as we know. Matchmaking looks for a "close match" and expands to +/-350, again, as far as we know.

Someone like Alf who could very likely be a top 500 player is well within matchmaking range of any mid skill level DbD player by design. It doesn't matter if his reall MMR is 4000. It's 1700 as soon as he searches for a match.

So why is Alf or any top tier player hard to gauge balance from? They are so exceedingly unlikely to ever face 4 survivors of their own caliber. And even if it does happen, nobody in that match knows that it's about to happen except for maybe the killer.

I know Alf and have had good convos with him. Our teams scrimmed each other, etc. I probably agree with a lot of what he says, but I haven't watched the video. I'm just saying this more in a general sense.

That's true in a general sense for sure, I was just curious why the person I quoted responded like that.

I don't know the guy nor watch his content so, apart from the video OP posted (Which despite me not really liking his content I agree with most of his points overall.) I don't really have a frame of reference why his points would be any less valid than the rest of us.

Side note unrelated to Alf - It honestly bothers me how some high level DBD players have such egos and think they know everything about balance and scoff at changes BHVR make, just because they've dedicated thousands of hours to playing.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

Imagine trying to use Alf as proof of anything

you haven't really been tunnelled too hard and have had a chance to actually play the match.

DS and OTR being disabled in the endgame is why I believe the perks are now designed to make them for early to mid game use.

Getting to end game does not mean you did not get tunneled. it mean the killer failed to kill the survivors before you finished your objective. tunneling and camping can occur at all points of the game. I see no reason for perks to turn off. the survivor earned their escape if they made to exit gate. Its just that certain survivors have a bit too big of ego and generally act toxic when they escape the killer. DS at exit gates was mostly toxic power-trip.

That's the thing though, the two perks in question made it so you could make to an exit gate no matter where you were and there wasn't much most killers could do about it. Yeah some people would use DS to be annoying in the gate itself, but many times when I used to run the perk once we got to endgame I knew I could basically always escape if someone unhooked me because the killer can't leave me slugged for a whole minute if I was close enough to a gate. I wasn't entitled to those escapes, DS just handed me them.

It's not so much that camping and tunnelling doesn't exist in the endgame, more so the point of those 2 strats is to get rid of a survivor early on in the match to make it a 3v1 and thus a way easier match to win. If endgame happens (and that was your playstyle) then you've failed at doing that and are essentially in damage control mode

DS/OTR in endgame is kinda like a lose-more situation now that I think of it, like if you're already losing - getting hit with these 2 perks in the endgame just makes you lose even harder

1 … 30 31 32 33 34 … 103
