"We're just trying to play with friends, we don't know how this works!"
Never mind that it's predictable as hell. I can count on seeing this every game.
-
It's SWFs that are screwing up the matchmaking in the first place.
All the red rank survivor teammates you're missing? They're not in your games because they're forming imbalanced SWF groups to stomp baby killers. 1, 2, 1, 20 ranked groups and such.
A lot of this would be solved if BHVR just made it so that SWF groups were matched against the highest rank in the lobby - like literally every other team game I've ever seen - rather than being matched against the lowest. But that would make survivors sad, so no chance.

LOL!!! Boy, have I hit a nerve with you all over this issue. And I take it that those of you who are obviously angry 😡 with what I just said (and suggested) play as killers a lot too.
So nah, I’m gonna keep playing this game. As I said already, I have a lot of fun playing this. Just not against someone who’s entire universe revolves around this game.
And just to let you all know, my username is lightning5103 and I’m gonna be encouraging a whole lot more people to do the same thing I’m doing. And to the guy who said he would slug me and let my character lay there, I couldn’t care less, buddy🤣. That will simply give me a chance to do other things (away from playing video games) that I need to do.
I look forward to quitting on you guys. I’ll see you all around!
The weird thing about survivors that do this is that you're not screwing over the killer, you're just screwing over other survivors.
So yeah, as someone who mostly plays killer, I say disconnect all you want. Do it at the start of the match if you wish! It does nothing but help me win. (Although, to be honest, if there's a DC I'll usually just let the survivors farm because there's no challenge in a 3v1 at 5 gens.)

Have you forgot about pallets?
The only map where you don't have an endless supply of those is Game, and that's complained about endlessly as too easy for killers.
Seriously, what other map do you actually have issues with number of pallets?
-
It's weird how they always say, "Just playing with friends" but the friends are always 3 red ranks and a rank 18.
Must be some weird demographic issue, I guess.

Yeah. That's why the nerfed BnP, Insta heals, and created big dead zones on maps. Because survivors hated it. Get real man. I'm not saying the Devs don't make bad choices. But they aren't going around actively nerfing killers at every turn to please survivors.
Yeah, nerfed BNP.
A year later.
For a year, simply clicking on a gen instantly finished it.
Top priorities.

@LetsPlayTogether said:
This scenario is completely impossible. You can also easily avoid flashlight safes, in fact playing against flashlights makes it even easier for you as killer.
Except it does happen sometimes.
Maybe dedicated servers disagreed about where you're facing at the moment, or who knows. But weird flashlight blinds happen.
(In this specific case one of the other survivors mentioned that they thought it happened because Demo had a really big "blindable" area, but I dunno about any of that.)

Players would just dodge if they see it in the Lobby.
Having the same Perks is btw. no Indicator at all. Survivors only have like 6 Perks which can be considered Meta, just logical that the Builds all look roughly the same.
Probably not.
I used to do that, but then I realized I was just never getting to play any games.
No matter what the devs claim, SWF groups are extremely common. And if you're low ranked, almost every game some nights will be against red rank + 1 lowbie SWF's hunting you.

Bubba is barley getting brought up to playing level. This is something that's been needed for years. Yet, when something is broken or needed w survivor, it's fixed within a couple months, tops.
Because survivors are seen as the real players and killers the NPCs.
There's SOME fairness to that thinking, I'll admit. But generally the process of, "Do gens, open door, escape." is seen as the true, legitimate gameplay loop, so if something on the killer side is considered too good and disruptive to that, it's going to get dumped on.
If something on the survivor side is too good, it's not that big of a deal because the game is still playable and the primary gameplay loop still intact. it's just the killer that's a little unhappy, but they're only there as a function of that primary loop, so it's not really as big a priority to make them happy.
-
Imagine survivors thinking about when to use things.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
To me they're flawed because you can blind a killer but not make him drop the survivor. How TF does that happen?
Because you blinded them too early while they were fully locked in the animation.
Surprised the devs even bothered with that, honestly.
-
@LapisInfernalis said:
This is why I fake, 360 and then pick up, look at walls, use Infectious or play Doc.
But I noticed that they can blind you somehow, even if you can't see them in your FOV. The only thing i really hate about flashlights.
Pretty much.
Just had a likely 4k (guaranteed 3k) turn into a 2k because I picked a Claudette up while looking at a wall and some David not even in my FoV blinded me.
Sure, just one more screwed up way for survivors to get extra chances for no reason sometimes.
-
Because sometimes a survivor picks The Game map offering when you're playing anti skill check Doc.

I wouldn't because I don't stand around by the hook.
I'm nowhere near the hook when the survivor gets unhooked.
90% of the time I've already initiated a different chase.
Pop and BBQ reward killers by leaving your safety bubble.
Except half the time it's because a survivor went all YEE-HAW instantly and unhooked someone.
So you hit the unhooker and still eat a DS because they're being such weird gorillas about everything with all their second chances.
-
@BigBrainMegMain said:
" in summary, they need to rework decisive "
News flash, you can counter DS by going for another survivor. The unhooker. Stop proxy camping, or camping, and get out of your bubble around the hooked survivor and go patrol gens.
Your entire argument is just another DS nerf thread.
TFW you go for the unhooker and get hit by DS. :(

Now i know i probably one of many who have complained about this but isn't this like past the 7 above, 7 below rule or something??
It was most likely a SWF with the low rank person in the group to tilt the MM into favoring giving them a low rank killer.
It's mostly why I stay low rank, so I can punish those groups. Those 1,2,1,16 groups are pretty much 100% of my killer games in the evening.

Thats why i said "in certain situations" if the survivors hook bomb then punish them for it
But if you go into a game with the intent to ruin others experience by compeltly camping and tunnling them then i think its bad
Well then, we mostly agree.
Most people on this forum seem to have an entirely different opinion, though.

Yea i main nancy when i play survivor what does that have to do with anything?
Tunneling and camping is fine in certain situations but getting into a game with the intenet to tunnel/camp is bad IMO
You do realise that patrolling gens is the only way to find survivors other then going back to the hook? unless you're using a tracking perk like bbq or thrilling
I litrally showed you proof im a red rank killer
If you think tunneling is the only way to win then you are not a good killer
Except the definition of "tunneling" is so broad around here that it basically encompasses "chasing anyone that you chased in the past".
I'm sorry, but if I hook someone and some Claudette is in a bush the whole time and unhooks them before I'm even out of sight, I'm punishing the team for that. It's absurd to think that a killer wouldn't. Unless survivors will agree to all get off of gens and look for totems or something when I fail at a chase.
-
The only thing this thread proves is that survivors think that literally everything is "tunneling".
Seriously, the first reply has 100+ upvotes for basically saying, "Don't chase survivors even if you know where they are, just go stand at gens while they all get healed and split up and get ready."
Killers are never going to play the way you guys want, because the way you guys want is almost a guarantee of a loss against any competent survivors. You're never going to stop doing gens, or going to strong loops, or anything else. But you want killers to constantly just close their eyes and count to 50 whenever you feel like it's "fair" for you to get away and reset or whatever else.
Absurd.

@BigBrainMegMain said:
Given the amount of bloodpoints they received, I believe you.
5k is automatically given when they escape. So they earned 10k points during the match.

Are you on console? Because on PC I used to do this and I almost always got a 'tnx'. Sometimes, people asked what happened. Other than that, I can count on one hand the toxic messages and almost always they were shut down by the other survivors.
I've had a number of games where survivors got really weird after I tried to be nice. Sometimes other survivors told them they were idiots, though, so that was nice.

The jane got caught early enough corrupt was still up. There was no option but to unhook them with the killer nearby. The jane going down within the first 20-30 seconds of the game starting implies they were outmatched, as also indicated by the ranking system. He was also running like 9 self-setting traps; a particularly strong build. Is it my fault as a survivor I get improperly matched teammates who get tunneled out of the game in the first 60~ seconds without any input from myself whatsoever?
I literally ran the trapper after that for 3.5 gens with only 2 teamates alive, earning my escape.
But then the guy also complains about DS after I didn't even use it. Still talks smack when he got spanked. When DS is specifically for situations like those, to at least buy your team some time while you get murdered.
That's why solo Q is horrible, and I only play it when killer Q times are like 10+ minutes.
Now we're veering off into entirely different topics.
The initial point you disagreed with was that most problems are created by bad unhooks. Not matchmaking, bad teams, perks, whatever.
-
Thanks, dad. Good talk.
-
Me: Hears injured David King
Injured David King: Dead Hard past a pallet
Injured David King: Drop pallet
Injured David King: Teabag for entirely too long
Injured David King: Finally turn to run as pallet breaks and run straight into a wall for a moment
Me: Hooks David King
So entertaining. 😂

I mean the guys name / build implied he was specifically out to grief people. I believe she only stepped into the trap because she got tunneled off the hook, then she got tunneled off the hook again, even with other survivors nearby. You are acting like killers can't camp, you can't unhook with the killer away if they never really leave the hook. If they went down early enough in the match, genrushing isn't an option against it.
So from my solo Q perspective, there's actually nothing I can do. I could make the safest save in the world, offer myself up to be chased and be ignored. But it won't matter if my teammates are running cutesy head-on builds instead of running builds that will actually help them survive.
So because their name was rude, the survivor getting caught early was their fault?
So because their name was rude, the survivor stepping in a trap was their fault?
So because their name was rude, the survivor getting unhooked nearby was their fault?
People really need to stop blaming killers for simply playing the game. Stop doing stupid things and the blaming the killer when they simply react.
-
Of course.
There's no point in "saving" the cakes, because you'll just be able to buy more cakes with the 140% bonus BP right now anyway.

Yeah, I disagree with that.
Playing some blendette today cause killer Q times are insane. First two games have had people hard tunneled at 5 gens. The killers name was along the lines of 'stay mad and bad' and he killed off someone within the first minute of the game cause they got unhooked, stepped into a trap, and then unhooked and tunneled into DC.
He gloats in the endgame screen 'first guy had a rough time huh?' and then I said I wonder why nobody runs DS anymore and I get this....
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/URVDU8NI7IZJ/lul-png.png
Clearly mad I took the hatch out in his face.
I mean, look at the situation here.
They got caught right away and were hooked. Unhooked and stepped in a trap, so hooked again. Get unhooked with the killer clearly nearby and disconnects.
How do people come to the conclusion that the killer did something wrong here? What thought process leads them to believe that?
-
I've always said that bad unhooks are the source of 95% of the issues in this game.
Almost every "camping" or "tunneling" complaint originates from bad unhooks. If you just lurk around every hook and wait a whole 2 seconds for the killer to turn around before unhooking someone, of course the killer comes back and smacks one of you. This happens multiple times in pretty much every one of my games as killer, stop doing it.

Whoa dude that's pretty smart /s. That's what the current Emblem system is based on and look how its turned out. So tell me, what string would tell the game that you have skill? Do you have an idea or just blanket statements? Tell me, how will the game recognize skill or did you not think that far? Or is just gonna be Escapes Vs. 4K's? Which is basically just RNG? Will it be based on the Killer you selected? The map? The add ons? What will affect the Elo gains? Please tell me how you'd do it then.
The current emblem system is broken and everyone knows it - including the developers - so don't sit there and try using it as some proof that MMR based on performance isn't possible.
(Actually, many of the systems that killer emblems use aren't THAT bad other than the issues with certain killers powers not counting. It's the survivor systems that are the most broken, and often due to a simple limit to the objectives on the map that can be completed. But yes, kills/escapes should count more than they do, seeing as how they're the primary objective. No, they're not "just RNG".)
But yeah, go ahead and tell us that your rank should just be your total time played, and then even have enough of a lack of awareness to act smug about your brilliant idea.

I'll never understand people with this mindset in games.
You want to win, but you consciously try to not win? I see this in every game and it always confuses me.
If you want to win, then try to win. If you don't care about winning, then just goof around. Both are fine. But this whole, "I want to win, but I don't want to do the things that winning requires, so I'm just going to pout about it and beat up newbies instead." mindset is just weird.

- They don't always earn it. Sometimes they just play like a dick and sometimes as a survivor, your teammates just kill themselves and make the game impossible to win. But sure, let's just pretend that every time the killer has two people left and there's still 3-5 gens that need to be done, they earned that....
- I'm so glad you want everything handed to you. You just want them to be waiting in the same spot and damn them for trying to hide and evade you because ######### else can they do while you play hide and seek with the last survivor. I'll go around to my survivor community and and tell them this addition to the killer handbook for survivors. Just stay still and don't hide everyone. Shame on you for not staying in place where the killer slugged you
Nowhere in my comment did I ask for a "second chance" as yall love to call it (which is a stupid description for those perks anyway and I can go through a whole list of killer perks that give second chances but yall not ready for that discussion). Your killer bias is showing.
This entire post is so biased it would be shocking if such bias wasn't so commonplace.

"What should it be based on?"
Uh, I don't know....actual performance, maybe? Crazy thought, I know.
I can't imagine the thought process of people who actually think that the people at the top of a ranking system should be whoever logged in the most.
It sounds a lot like the MMO player mindset, where people get married to the game and want their time played to be some badge of honor or grant them some privilege, rather than trying to actually excel in their gameplay.

They should not get another free out. No.

And yeah, they still want more ways out for free. ><

I not saying nerf killers. I'm saying, if you don't like DS then ask the Devs to fix tunneling and camping on killers. Otherwise, be happy that DS exists, because it means you can tunnel and camp to your hearts content.
"Fix" them how, exactly?
Basically every move I make is rationalized as "camping" or "tunneling" by survivors. What exactly do you think should be fixed? How should it be fixed?
When people talk about DS they usually have very specific reasoning and ideas about it. When people talk about "camping" or "tunneling" it's usually just people asking for killers to be banned and vague demands to "fix it" and lots of vague or conflicting opinions of what those things even are.
-

How is it supposed to be countered? He revs chainsaw and you AND the person you're trying to help are one-hit-downed.
I don't see where the counterplay is. One way or another it's going to be 3-2 survivors escaping while the rest were camped. You can't do anything once you're hooked so you're forced to suicide or watch until you die. That's not a whole lot of counterplay afforded when all the killer has to do is hook you after yeeting across the map with chainsaw and chasing you down and then stand in place staring at you.
Sounds like you just combined two killers into one here. (Billy can't hit two people, and Bubba can't fly across the map!)
That aside...yup, get 3 people out. If people keep doing that, then campers won't have a reason to keep doing it. As it is, people reward campers like crazy by just handing them the game, so of course they keep doing it and just laughing their heads off.

I wasn't even caught first in two of the matches. They camped EVERY person they caught.
Call it what you will, but it's scummy to not let anybody enjoy the game because it doesn't punish people ranking up in that method, and solo-q means that if you're camped nobody comes for you or really cares at all.
Like I said, you can complain all you want, and call the killer whatever names you want.
Doesn't change the fact that the only people with a responsibility to deal with that strategy is you and your team. If none of you do, then that's on you.
-

I don't care about losing, I care about being able to play the game.
If I get camped first hook until I die, I spend that entire duration unable to do anything at all.
It's literally from first hook through struggle time wasted after waiting to get into a match. It's not fun, it's not simply "Awww, I lost sadface" it's a waste of the time spent waiting for that match AND the time spent going through to struggle then death.
That's the price of getting caught first, then.
You can complain until the cows come home that you didn't like your opponents strategy, or that it wasn't fun, or that you don't approve of it. However, it's not incumbent on your opponent to heed any of those complaints, nor is it the responsibility of the developers to police player strategies.
The only people with a responsibility to deal with the opposing strategy is you and your team.
-
So you want killers banned because you lost the match.
Yeah. Ok. I can see that.
I would also like my opponents in StarCraft last night banned for cannon rushing me.
