I like how the simple act of killing survivors is "toxic" now.
Seriously, I've always had the impression that a lot of survivors just don't want killers to play the game at all, but this event only doubles down on that.
-

Better question: why do so many people who play this game seem desperate to assume the victim role? Like they think the devs are biased against their “group” and they’re an oppressed minority, when in reality it’s just an asymmetrical game so it’s impossible for it to be balanced 1:1 for both roles in every single respect.
Because victim is a privileged status today that everyone wants to be a part of.
-
I can't watch that scorpionz guy, he's just constantly being a judgmental prick about everything that everyone else does.
-
Uh, what? No, killers do not have a 15min penalty for their first disconnect.

Please don't put the footage on the forum - that would come under Naming & Shaming.
Yes this is definitely reportable, please report using the in game report function and send video proof of both players to Support : https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

As the expression goes "it takes two to tango" - so yes, it's on both parties, survivor & killer.
I would have to ask though...how is that "on the killer"?
This actually happens somewhat often: Two survivors left, one survivor is salty and just starts ratting out the other survivor who is in a locker or something. Do I now have to pretend I don't know where the other one is? Close my eyes and count to 50? Let them escape because otherwise I'm in trouble?
-
Honestly, now that they announced extending the event, it's no big deal.
Just use the cakes now at 140% to farm even more cakes, build them up, and then once they're stacking we'll all go hog wild. (No, don't just "save them up" right now, that's a waste. Take advantage of the 140% bonus points to get even more cakes than you're using.)
-
Sephiroth for killer?
-
"Fair" has nothing to do with it.
People might not LIKE it, similar to how people might not LIKE a weird, cheesy Photon Cannon rush in StarCraft, or a Ken player that wins online by hitting wakeup DP every single time.
But there's no "fair" or "unfair" involved. It's just a strategy someone might not like you to do.
-
Oh damn, I would love this, but I have no idea how it would actually work. The whole theme of the monster is that he's so slow and you just don't get caught.
He starts out really slow but the longer he's in a chase the faster he goes? Hm. I dunno!
-
When you play solo survivor, every game you're in - by definition - isn't a coordinated 4-man SWF. So you cannot see any of those groups, you're probably playing with 4 pugs or something.
When you play killer, you're going to get all those 4-man SWF's that are way more common than people seem to believe. So naturally the survivors will suddenly seem a lot sweatier and more coordinated than your teams were.

By claming survivors have thousands of stupid rules for killers but killers dont have any stupid rules for survivors "lol"
Both sides have stupid rulebooks
In fairness, I don't really see any "rules" that killers have for survivors, though. Sure, killers complain about gen speed as a game balance question, but no one says, "HEY, DON'T DO GENS!" or something.
Meanwhile, killers often feel like the community is telling them not to do anything. Constant complaints about literally every potential strategy. People asking for things to be ban worthy offenses. People asking for changes to the game to keep killers from doing one thing or another. Don't chase that person, don't hit that person, don't hook someone you hooked before, don't be within sight of a hook, don't defend gens if they're close together, don't down someone if they unhook themselves, give the last guy the hatch, don't defend doors if they're too close together, the list just goes on and on and on.

The Gateaus do not expire, so you don't have to worry about the event still being active. You'll be able to use them any time.
Sure, but then there are no more cakes to get.
The whole reason the event is fun to (some) people is the immense exponential growth you can get from stacking cakes, using those BP to get more cakes than you used, and repeat. It's a big event with a lot of potential, especially for all those new players you intended to attract with the free play time and such.
If they're broken now and are fixed when the event is over or something, all that potential is lost. Then it's just a bunch of BPS - which is nice, don't get me wrong - but it's a massive loss compared to the feedback loop that would be happening for those players right now.

Turn off messaging/close chat, you'll enjoy the game a whole lot more and not be so bitter. This community as a whole has alot of sore winners/losers on both sides. If you're going to be nice do it just because you enjoy it, and with messaging turned off you won't have someone ruin that.
I've had some farming killers, I've enjoyed them because we all get decent amount of bloodpoints after. I have my crowns now so any killer I come across farming I have them kill me. If they refuse that 3rd hook I just wait for the entity to take me so they get those sacrifice points. The ones that go hide in a corner are the ones I have a problem with because just doing gens really doesn't get you many BP and wastes bps/cakes that were played.
I also have no problem with the killers playing normal, I actually prefer they do - I'm getting more BP that way because of saves, chases, gens, etc. and the match lasts quite awhile. It's normal cat/mouse matches I enjoy and keep me playing this game. If I escape awesome, if I die atleast I had chances to try and escape. The ones that just face camp or mori after first hook are making the match end quickly and with few bloodpoints - which is just a waste of BPS or cakes.
Yeah, you're 100% right, I know. I guess I just let the constant venom that goes back and forth to color my view of things.
I'm just a bitter bastard. 😂

Funny thing is though, and I've said this heaps before, but this game and the pip system by extension are designed around the HUNT and not the kill. It's not about optimally wiping out a small population, it's about torturing a small group.
You are rewarded for scaring survivors and moving them off generators, injuring them and leaving them bleeding, then killing them off after the have SUFFERED. This is why a killer like the Legion is actually fantastic to rank up with, while Plague and Billy players keep whining about their results. Inflict pain and suffering, draw out the game as long as possible, go for the OPTIMAL 12 hook game, or at least 10 hooks and all that then come back to me and tell me of your results.
I don't know I am consistently the only one who actually sees this and spreads this message.
You're not the only one that says it, but it's still not really logical. The same problems apply to survivors, and I don't think there's any argument for, "But you're supposed to suffer a little more before escaping!"
Like Peanits said, the intent is that you're rewarded for playing well. The problem is that what "playing well" entails isn't well quantified in the game. That's not because of some weird lore-based reasoning, it's because the criteria just aren't set out very well, which is why they're revamping the MMR system.
-
Emblems reward you for playing well.
(But not too well, stop that. Play worse or we'll depip you.)

😂 Of course a killer main is not going to understand it's possible to prefer something in the middle of two extremes so a match isn't 5 minutes long and low in bloodpoints.
I also complained about the killer wait times being obnoxious. I'm not happy with this event from either side. 🤷♀️
Yeah, except literally nothing you do as a killer ever pleases survivors anyway. Not even trying to just be nice and letting them out during the event.
Spent an evening and some change just letting people get crowns and such and got ######### on most of the time for it, but then they also bitched if I played "normally" and killed them.
Ultimately I might as well just anti-golden rule and just do what I like, everyone else be damned. Because nothing will meet with their approval anyway.
-
@bm33 said:
I'm tired of the event already. Play as survivor you have killer that's afk, killer that is facecamping first sparkly survivor they down, or killer that moris immediately after first hook. Try to play as killer and the waits are long because people switched over for easy crown or were tired of facecamp/mori. Rather it be a double bloodpoint weekend than two weeks of this.
"Play survivor and you get killers that either let you out or kill you."
Yeah, can't make survivors happy.
-
lol, tried one more game against my better judgment.
Let a survivor wiggle off my shoulder while they had a crown, end of game chat, "lol noob killer can't find hooks lololol get #########"
Yeah, screw em. No wonder killers aren't bothering being nice, no incentive to. Went all last night and some of today letting people out, and I think I got a "gg" or "thanks" in two games, the rest were pricks.

Isn't that just the nature of bugs though?
Like they can appear even if something got barely changed.Super annoying but i guess the devs aren't happy with that either.
Yeah, when changing mechanics or coding, sure. Change how X works and you realize that Y and Z also somehow depended on it and so on.
But this is just a new item. An item that's a copy of existing items. So no new systems added or changed, no dependencies, no nothing. And all those previous similar items still work, so it can't be an unintended effect from a different change that affects this particular mechanic.
How is that not just an entry in a database? How in the world are their systems set up? 😮

Fairly quick, but bugs don't go away just like that.
Normally I would agree, but this is just...I mean, it's almost a literal carbon copy of existing items. How in the world do their data structures work that they can't make this item work when it's not a new effect?
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I'm just done with killer. At least until cakes are fixed and I can just farm for a bit maybe.
Can't kill people because the bitching and moaning is worse than ever and I don't want to be too mean when a lot of people are just getting crowns, but then I when play nice they're total pricks because they think they're outplaying you or something, or they whine that you "wasted their time" afterwards.
Just ######### it. I'm over playing games with these people.
-
If you're a solo survivor, then by definition you're never on a 4-man SWF team.
If you're killer, you'll get all those SWF's.
-
Or they just don't want them fixed at all because they want the BP grind to stay intact, so they just pretend it's bugged this year and then next year don't have them at all.
#GalaxyBrainConspiracyTheory
-
and now when i understand more why something is happening (most of the times, 50% of times...) it is stunning how badly designed some of the parts are.
So much this.
I think I liked the game a lot more before I thought about it too much. Although that holds true for a lot of games, it's doubly so for this one.

That is pretty absurd, but I wish people would remember that the first gen is barely even the start of the game, and that subsequent gens can't really be done at the same speed anyway.

Oooorrrr you could be getting 500% every single game and you’d be able to stockpile even more at a faster rate for when Crossplay is added. If you could get 3 every game from the extra BP youd be getting, you could have double what you have now saved up for when Crossplay is enabled.
don’t buy into the lie of “I’ll just use them later!”. If you were able to use them now you’d be getting more every game and end up with more total after the event.
Exactly.
If they were working, we'd all pretty much be sitting here with an endless loop of using cakes, getting tons of bp, buying more cakes than we used, repeat.
if they just remain broken and nothing really gets extended or compensated, we'll all end up with far fewer offerings and BP, and no real endless loop because the usage will be so scattered and most people won't have that many.
-
Yeah, it's kind of a bummer.
I mean, sure, it's not the end of the world. And yeah, I should just be playing for the fun of it.
At the same time, it's disappointing to have something you were looking forward to not working.
It's also hard to really feel like I can just "play for fun" when I know people are just out there trying to farm and get crowns and such and I don't want to be a total prick but I don't want to just goof around every game, either, when there's really no reason to with the special offerings broken. I was just letting everyone escape over and over the first night, but lets be honest, that gets old after a little while.
Eh. Like I said, not the end of the world, but also kinda disappointed me enough that I haven't felt the drive to play for a day or so now.
-
I like how people rationalize things like, "The killer is chasing me, they must hate my character/name/colors/etc!!!!"
No, the killer just wants you dead and you're probably easy to catch if they're going after you more often. Sorry.
-
I'll start off just trying to walk up and nod or something. If they don't get the hint, I'll just down someone and pick them up then spin in circles until they get free.
That generally drives the point home real fast.

To them, it might. Your opinion is not the only one that matters. I edited my previous comment after you quoted it. Here you go:
I do find it funny how you think creating a female killer and creating a killer with a good background are mutually exclusive concepts.
They never said "female" and "story" were mutually exclusive.
I suppose it's fun to play that social media, "I'm going to hint that you're an -ist of some variety if you say something I don't like." game for some people, though.
-
The best "mindgame" is when you run a loop for a second and then stand still and the survivor keeps running it and bumps right into you while looking behind them.

Labbing urien? I don't know what that is
Oh, darn. I thought you were here to offer FGC help. 😥
-
Several reasons:
1) The disparity in player goals that exists due to poor matchmaking. (The classic, "Casual vs. Hardcore" debate)
2) Asymmetrical nature of the game causing people to "pick a side".
3) Pug team nature of survivor side, which is always toxic in any game online.
-
Can you help me with labbing some Urien stuff?
-
Sorry to hear it, friendly survivor.
I've been letting people go all night, just trying to farm and level some. (Some teams just don't get it, though. ><)
-
Daaang, was just playing another game, letting everyone out, all that.
But I did want my points, of course, so I went about hooking everyone once. Except their team just let one of them die on their one and only hook. How they gonna do their teammate like that? :(

You're right. I played two games as Ghostie earlier and got my teeth kicked(zero kills both times) in just to look it up and find out there's no consolation prize. Toxic basement Trapper NO-EDucation build it is.
The crown is in the chest, protect it at all costs.
-
And then next game I put on Streamers and didn't hit anyone all game, and survivors just rushed gens and left instantly and we all got like 9k points.
Some people can't take a damn hint. 🤣

And a few threads like this where good people are trying their best to off-set it. LOL I dont think "most" killers are going to be nice and friendly. Thats not really a Killer M/O. Then killers should at least need a 2-3k to keep their crown. All I've had all day are sweaty killers that either have the crown or found it and just tunnel survivors so they don't get to keep their cosmetic. Something at least should be driving killers to keep their crown just like survivors - otherwise one side gets it effortlessly and the other side may be deprived from it.
"Those tryhard killers keep killing me, so I don't get my crown! It's not fair, they should have to kill people to get their crown!"

Just because some people are toxic doesn't mean I have to be. I don't expect others to be nice just because I want to. It's a special event with a time limit, once it's over we can go back to bullying each other.
And for the record, I have had plenty of Survivors help me with my dailies or rift challenges. All I had to do was a little dance and nod my head.
Eh, I already got told, "Get #########" in the very first game tonight where I let everyone go.
Not really feeling the love from em yet.
