  • Always assume every killer has BBQ.

It's one perk that you can count on being in a huge number of your games.

WGLF is a free perk on either platform through David King. BBQ sometimes comes up in the shrine but otherwise is a recommended purchase.

No, they're talking about them just never popping up on the web.

It's really easy to hit level 50, cycle through many more levels after that, and still not see certain perks. Especially if you've picked up every teachable.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BKYJR2XS5B52/awful-matchmaking.jpg

I've owned the game for less than a week. Even I'm sick of this. It's awful, and I can't believe people would defend this...

How am I supposed to get skilled when I get stomped out every match because the matchmaking is broken? I wait 10 minutes to play a game, and lose almost immediately because I'm matched against people who have played the game for drastically longer, and have way more skill and game knowledge. How is that fair?

Blaming the actual problem isn't scapegoating... It's pointing out the obvious.

    Yup.

What's so frustrating about it is that what you have there isn't some fluke. It's not, "Oops, MM goofed up, haha. Silly MM!"

No, it's a choice by those red ranks. They chose to face you - or someone else at your level. And BHVR chose to let them do it.

That's what pisses me off about it. If it was just the result of a bug, or unintended behavior, or MM trying to lower queue times, I might not mind so much. But the fact that the developers CHOSE to let those red rank players do this is ridiculous.

  • Psst!

    Kid! Hey kid! Yeah you!

Wanna buy some hot info, kid?

Ok, check this out: SWF will never be nerfed, removed, changed, or matchmaking fixed to stop red ranks from newbie-hunting. This would make survivors unhappy. That's just how it is.

  • @HexLatency said:

That's the problem. if you cant get any of those, then what?

Honestly? I'd probably just prestige at that point.

If you don't have any of the perks you want at level 50, it's going to cost a metric fuckton to get them. It might be better to just prestige and take your chances again from level 1 for all those nice, cheap levels.

  • ATTENTION KILLERS!

Please close your eyes and count to 50 whenever you see a survivor.

Failure to do so will cause survivors to use DS and BT.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

  • Because ######### killers, that's why.

In a strange way, the best way to counter this is to play more and simply get better. I got to rank 1 for the first time this month. I legit went from rank 13 to rank 1 and I've been stuck there since. Once you get your groove on with a Killer you're into you should be fine. Specially after a while.

Sure, but "Hey, if you're a rank 1 player, you'll be fine!" isn't an excuse to not have a functioning MM system at all.

I honestly wouldn't be so annoyed by it if it were some fluke, but most nights it's every single match, every single lobby, all night. I'm not even exaggerating, I did a whole listing of all my games live in a thread over the course of one night one time, it's literally just constant red rank people with a single "friend who just got the game winkwink."

"gitgud, lol" isn't an argument for red rank survivors to be able to choose what rank opponents they face.

And here we have identified the problem. The majority of killers here see a 2k as a loss. Even though killers average about a 65% kill rate (bhvr stats) its not enough for them. Survivors are still op. Its why the forum blows up at the slightest balancing of a killer like Billy now or nurse before. Its why there are 10 threads a day calling to nerf a perk that gives survivors the ability to take one extra hit for 60 seconds of the match if some very specific circumstances are met, yet one hit downs are plentiful in killer base kits and perks. They will concede moris are op but demand that keys be fixed along with them. They threaten to walk away from the game if you try to rein in their fun even a little. Getting 4ks is fun, I have played killer too, but it doesn't make for a fair game. I guess they just want survivors to accept that they going to die in about 2/3 of their matches. Lots of entitled killers on this forum so flame away, but 4/5 of the player base(survivors) know I speak the truth.

And there's our "entitled to 4k!!!!" post.

Threads over, we found that guy.

Going for that Donkey Kong high score!

Do you ever contribute anything constructive to things you post on? I agree the term "genrush" needs to go, but he's not wrong about survivors wanting constant hand holding.

A lot of survivors ######### and ######### and ######### about slugging, tunneling and camping even after the devs have repeatedly said they're "viable" strategies. They accuse killers of using "scummy" tactics because they work, and most can be countered. @CaulDrohn literally said killers SHOULD GIVE people crowns, so what else should killers "give" survivors?

He called someone out based on facts - but I'm not saying the wording was good. And you're right, reality does tell the truth; since you're one of the most biased people on the forums at times. The irony is rich with you.

If that's not the definition of expecting handouts and telling others how to play the game, find me a better example.

For the record, I've always said that "genrush" is actually a silly term since generators are literally the survivors objective.

I only used it in that post for the sake of hyperbole or something. 😁

Yeah, but most posts about this kind of thing are not about a rank 20 being matched with all rank 1s. It's usually a purple or green rank against red ranks, which is far from impossible. People who complain about that sort of matchmaking are simply just less skilled than their opponents and are looking for some sort of scapegoat to point their finger at.

You know what I say when I go up against red ranks and don't do well? I say "well damn I screwed up a lot that game," or "those guys were really good" or sometimes even "I simply didn't have as good of a setup" if they're all running the most OP things and I'm sitting there with all rank 1 perks or something. In other words, I don't go blaming it on the fact that I may be in green/purple ranks (I am indeed usually in green/purple as killer, and still manage to get 4k against red rank survivors when I want to. It's not impossible.)

I also disagree that just because a killer's or survivor's rank is 18 or anything low like that, that it automatically gives them a disadvantage. That means that they haven't played in a while and decayed, or that they simply don't play enough to raise their rank yet. Point being, while skill might give you high rank, having a high rank doesn't give you skill. I've seen rank 18 players that play like rank 1 and rank 1 players that play like rank 18. so I get your point, but I disagree ultimately.

I know it means "something." That doesn't mean that rank is any measure of skill.

People who complain about that sort of matchmaking are simply just less skilled than their opponents and are looking for some sort of scapegoat to point their finger at.

Well, yes. That's the point. They're far less skilled than their much higher ranked opponents. That's not enjoyable for the losing party, and maybe not even for the winning party. Especially not for new players.

Any good matchmaking system should at least make an effort to keep that from happening. I know it's probably a lot harder in DbD, but this might be the only game that I've ever seen that seems to actively try to create bad matchmaking experiences.

We'll see when the new MM comes out, though.

  • @Huff said:

Time for a cookie cutter response to a cookie cutter post:

Ranks are not indicative of skill. The devs themselves say this.

The way it comes off when people make posts like this is "these people were too good for me, it's matchmaking's fault!" If you "lost," it's because you made too many mistakes in the game.

I just can't wait to see the next excuse people are going to bring up once they ditch this current ranking system for their upcoming MMR system and people can't be confused by meaningless numbers.

    Well, rank definitely means SOMETHING.

It's not a perfect granular thing, but a rank 1 survivor is clearly miles ahead of a rank 18 killer. No legitimate matchmaking should ever pair the two, and yet the rank 1 can actually choose to face the rank 18 killer if they wish.

(Although, hey, the rank 1 probably got there beating up on rank 18 killers! Hah.)

It need not be actual farming. But judging by my last like 10 survivor games (red ranks), ALL killers we had were sweaty try-hards / entitled to their stupid 4k. Even with multiple cakes, from which they benefit as well, there's no f*cking mercy, not the slightest leeway, survs have to be put down under all costs, and fast. Hard Proxy-camping, tunneling, Iri-Heads,every scumy tactic available is used. It's a f*cking event, you known, why can so many killers not be the tiniest of generous?

Like I said, you don't need to actually farm. Just hunt, down, hook and slug if they are death hook (at least when they are not cocky / toxic). That will give you already a plethora of points, and still gives the survs a chance to get some points as well. Maybe let two out even if you could have gotten all four. It will give them 5k BP times cakes, where you will loose just a few hundred BP. And PLEASE, if you see a surv with the golden glow, and it's non-licensed character, grant them their fkn crown (if they are not toxic, that is)! You get the crown as killer with no effort, but as surv it can be such a hell. Collecting it like 5 times and always being killed mercilessly, despite mutliple chances to just be given the hatch.

So annoying, so frustrating (esp. in solo queue), the reason I'm switching to killer for the remainder of the event, playing cassually and giving us all the opportunity to get good points. I would really like to have the last crowns for the survs, but the killers I have to face are just to obstinate to show us any mercy if we would need it.

Yeah, let me know when you're "generous" to killers.

Survivors constantly want a world of generosity and consideration from killers, but give them an inch and it's genrush-teabag-ggez time.

  • @SaltyRainbow said:

    its both sides fault.

a lot of killer (mostly at the start of the event) throw the game just to tunnel as hard as possible the surivor who took the crown to denie the cosmetic.

play against those killers like 2-3 times and you switch to genrush. this game was unplayable the first days.

on the other side survivors genrush "normal playing" killers atm harder than usual too and i have seen nearly every round 1-2 keys.

and after a few unfun matches and "stolen kills" because of some keys, the killer goes into the "no mercy tryhard mode"

It's funny, almost every game I played as survivor this week, the killer just let us farm and go once they had the upper hand.

I've yet to have just a simple, enjoyable game as killer, though. Granted, that's nothing new, but yeah.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Tell this those toxic tryhard killers that just want to ruin the games if anyone else throws in gateaus. And the issue is that those jerks get their 20k but the survs go out with just half at best. I really would like to deny these jerks any BP from my offering.

    "Ruin the games"

You mean killing people? Yes, that's what killers do.

But sure, act like the killer should care about your feelings. No survivor gives a ######### about the killers feelings, but expect boundless consideration in return. Heh.

  • Ideal survivor play does beat ideal killer play.

Most games won't be ideal, but yes.

  • I will say that every single time I sit down to play this I end up regretting it after.

But I keep doing it anyway, hah. 🤣

Often times it only takes one match for me to call it a day, because the things that I find frustrating are so commonplace. Literally every game.

For example, just sat down after dinner to try one match, got a 4-man SWF with 3 reds/1 green, a Haddonfield offering, and rampant teabagging/clicking at the end. Then they proceed to give me the patronizing BS about how, "Oh you did really well, gg man, was fun!" after a 4-out.

Yeah, that's all I need in a day.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Also I think if people are saying they consider 1 survivor escape to feel like a loss then that really speaks to how they see balance. If you think 1 survivor escaping is a loss then I'm gonna guess that you also think this game is terribly balanced in favor of survivors.

Just my theory, though. Doesn't mean it's true in all cases.

    Perhaps.

Like I said, maybe I focus too much on the objectives. If one survivor gets out when the gens are done and gates open, that seems like a win for the survivors. They accomplished their goal, they completed their objectives as the game set them out. It doesn't matter how many died to get there, the team did it.

Kinda like destroying your opponents last building in StarCraft. It doesn't matter if you lost a full 200 supply army doing it, you did it. That's the objective. You won.

From the killer perspective, you failed your objectives. Gens got done, gates were open, AND people got out. I failed ALL of my objectives. Doesn't matter if I killed 2 or 3 people, I still failed.

  • @Cheers said:

Depends. If they got out through the exit gate, then I'm fine. It was a draw which happens fairly often when I play killers like Pig and Legion.

If they escape through the hatch with a key however I become extremely dissapointed, and I feel hard done by.

Yeah, maybe it's my focus on objectives that makes me think the way I do.

As a survivor, 2 survivors out probably means that we did the objectives successfully as a team. Gens, gates, and some people out.

As a killer, 2 survivors out probably means I failed the objectives. Didn't stop gens, didn't keep gates closed. Even 1 out - as long as it's not the hatch - can feel like a failure in this sense.

  • I guess I should clarify my own views on it, as well:

When I play survivor, 2-out feels pretty good, even if I died. Feels like my actions at least led to the overall success of the group. As a team we successfully achieved the objectives - 5 gens and open gates. I'll generally pip and get a fair amount of BP, as well.

When I play killer, 2k feels like I got beaten pretty bad. It probably means I had no early game pressure, poor chases, and barely squeaked out something at the endgame. Or because of overly altruistic survivors. I failed at my objectives - that being preventing gens from finishing, preventing doors from opening, and killing everyone. This outcome also almost never results in a pip, maybe safety.

  • @Carpemortum said:

I mean you're playing Bubba. You cant really expect to do much better than that past green ranks. Possible? Yeah. But its ######### Bubba. Smart players wont let him get anywhere.

    Plus you GOT TWO KILLS.

You had LITERALLY THE BALANCE THE DEVS WANT while being outranked, and you're complaining?

    Cry me a river..

The whole "2 kills = balanced" thing is kinda weird. 2 kills is often a sign that the killer actually got outplayed pretty hard.

Yeah, I know that sounds strange, but it's actually not too hard to still sneak in 1-2 endgame kills on a team that's knocking out gens and escaping fast. Or to knock out the weaker links later in the match. (Notice even the dead guys got a ton of points.)

I know, I know. "But the devs said..." Well, there's what the devs say, and then there's how the game actually plays, what it actually rewards, and how it feels to the players. When I play survivor, two people getting out feels like a big win. As a killer, two people getting out feels awful, and survivors are usually quite happy about it.

Not to mention how the emblems add up. I know the emblems are broken as hell, but they absolutely tilt toward a killer getting more than two kills. Whereas escaping isn't actually even that significant for survivors. (Typically silver vs. gold on a single emblem)

It's a weird situation. I really don't think that the "2 kills/2 out = balanced" stuff tells the whole story.

  • @CronaWins said:

I play Killer too, I’m not 100% a survivor main, these questions came from someone just trying to get crowns for his favorite survivors after getting them for his killers. It’s been plenty of times I’ve let the killer get me after the others leave, dispute how annoying and toxic other survivors can be I don’t go into games trying to bully the killer, I want them to have fun same as me and my team when I am playing survivor.

"But no, Bov, I let the killer get me all the time to be nice!"

Yeah, everyone on the forums says that.

Sure ya do. Everyone who has ever seen this happen in the history of ever, raise your hand.

I considered wether I was just getting mad at some bad luck, but after playing so many games Ik I’m not just being some biased survivor. I have with my own eyes seen a lot of killers go after those with glows despite efforts from me and my team to get them to chase us for a while instead.

Yes, because the killer should let you dictate who they hit. Otherwise they're "ToXiC"! Gosh, why didn't I think of that?!

  • @Dvl said:

Lol I never said “give me the easy way out!” (I’m solo que if it matters to you) I’m just saying there’s no reason to tunnel and make things unfun for people looking for a crown on their mains, if a killer kills me oh well that’s my fault GG, but this whole event has just been “oh you found the crown? Nah you can’t have nice things”

"No reason to make things unfun"

Because you've ever given one ######### about how the killer feels about anything, I'm sure.

I'm sure you're the guy that always says, "We got 3 out, I'd better give the killer a break so they get something."

    I'm sure.

Ik they don’t get my crown that’s not what I was saying, they can load in find a crown and finish no problem, I don’t generally get on killers for anything and if they weren’t acting the way they have in all the games I’ve played I wouldn’t say anything either, though after so many games you can see the pattern. I find a crown, instant tunnel, teammate finds a crown instant tunnel, gates are open, tunnel the survivor with the crown. Plus it seems this is a console problem right now, from what I’ve heard PC is business as usual.

Or you're just experiencing a bias here and the killer would be killing you anyway, but you're rationalizing it as being targeted somehow because you're upset about it.

(OR the glow just makes you REALLY easy to see, so the killer keeps finding you with it.)

  • Call it the killer shack.

Make it the one tile that no killer wants to be near.

Yeah when I play killer I’ll still do my job to get my points, I’m just saying there’s no reason to for so many killers being pricks though. I main Spirit mostly so I can get any amount of kills I want just playing normally but every time i let those with the glow leave at the end, mostly because Ik how bad it is trying to get it rn.

You keep saying this, but literally all you're complaining about is, "The killer killed me and I didn't want them to."

Damn, people. I know you all just want easy outs and red rank SWF groups beating on lowbie killers and #########, but give it a break.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

You can certainly open your mouth about gen rushing even while getting a 4k. I've had plenty of games where the survivors were on track to win, but a few mistakes cost them the whole match. Usually when that happens it's because one of the weak links on the team made a huge blunder, which allowed the killer to snowball.

Killers can't actually snowball in the endgame because of a weak link, it's only when the team decides to go with the gorilla strategy (Stack second chance perks, refuse to just leave, intentionally take hits over and over to try to secure a 4-out) that killers turn losses into 3-4k's.

People should watch Showstopper's weekend showdown streams sometimes. Even with DS banned, survivors limited to two perks, and killer getting to choose a perk to ban, the SWF groups often make a complete mockery of every killer in the showdown. Because they just play to win the match, which is EXTREMELY easy for an organized group to do if they choose to.

  • @Dvl said:

I feel like the point is being missed, I’m not asking why killers are just doing their jobs, I’m asking what’s up with so many toxic and sweaty killers coming out the blue ruining an event for survivors and making other killers look bad, this isn’t a “crybaby survivor wants his way” discussion, this is just trying to see why is an event we should all be enjoying been so bad with this big boom of tryhard killers making everything so unenjoyable, I would understand if their were requirements for them to get a crown making them play harder, but killers just get it for free, so what’s the point in denying someone an event cosmetic during a period where we can all just chill out and have some fun games?

What is this "boom of tryhard killers"? Did people NOT try to kill you before the event? Are they extra-killing you now?

If anything, I see killers constantly letting people go now. I spent literally two nights straight not killing a single person. I got nothing but ######### on for it, but I still did it to try to be the nicer person. (Learning my lesson about that now, let me tell you.)

  • @TheWind said:

Lol complaining about killers afking. So I've seen complaints about killers being "sweaty" and trying to hard, the perks they use, the way they get kills and now when they don't try? Comedy gold.

People are never happy about any way that killers play, even if you let them farm or something.

The only thing that survivors want is an easy win with the illusion that the killer was trying really hard and was a good player but still lost.

  • Yeah, I'm sure you care so much for what the killer thinks or wants to do. So very much.

Every damn post about how, "Why doesn't the killer take MY feelings into consideration?!" is a joke.

  • Not like killers see their own skins in-game anyway.

  • Well, Tier 3 Madness is supposed to be a significant hindrance and Borrowed Time isn't supposed to be a complete immunity with a downside that you're guaranteed to remove.

  • Just had a game with yet another 3 red rank, 1 "newbie" SWF where I just wanted to do an archive so I was letting everyone go. (I literally carried the last guy to the exit gate after they stepped in a trap.)

So their decision was to just click flashlights and teabag at the exit and tell me what a useless POS I was.

Yeah, that's the kind of karma that exists in DbD.

  • It's funny because I just got done watching a streamer in a SWF playing against Oni.

Oni downed one of them, hooked them, but the survivors camera stayed on the Oni so they had basically perma-OoO on them and was telling everyone in Discord where they were.

The Oni eventually disconnected because they realized that they couldn't interact with anything, could only M1.

But yeah, they definitely prioritize killer bugs.

It can be, especially in a PvP game environment. That's why in DbD, my Steam profile is completely private and endgame chat is forever closed. In Overwatch, if I am playing with random people instead of the friends/family team, voice chat is turned off, match chat is turned off, and if need be I will even turn off team text chat. They can still do the scripted call outs just fine.

The only multiplayer game where I will actively interact with strangers anymore is in World of Warcraft with the guild. Outside of that, I have no interest anymore in dealing with strangers in a video game. I'm almost 50 years old, I'm long since done dealing with ######### in a video game.

    Yeah, I get that.

I guess I keep laboring under the illusion that I'm going to encounter people who are nice and we'll have a civil conversation about the game afterwards or something silly.

My fault for thinking such things, I know. 😁

If playing this game makes you feel like you’re “[enduring] hours of abuse”, being ridiculed and insulted, bullied, tortured... I honestly think it’s time to take a break.

Obviously it’s not okay for people to abuse others. But this is just a silly game and if it isn’t fun and isn’t adding anything positive to your life, it’s okay to turn it off and focus on things which bring you enjoyment.

It's funny, gaming in general is probably the biggest source of stress in my life.

Not to make it sound like a flex, but I'm fairly successful in my job, financially stable, my marriage is happy, the people I hang out with are all largely respectful, thoughtful people.

Then I play a video game and it's all just the worst people and experiences. I almost always end a gaming session asking, "Why did I bother wasting my time doing that?" but then I always come back. Go figure. I must be some masochist. 😂
