    Don't you mean....

    Considerably?

Great! Now you've admitted you can't complain about genrushing, meta perks, or toxic actions, if you ever bring those up I'll be sure to quote you on this.

I mean, you can go through my post history and see that I've always said that "genrushing" complaints are silly because they're just the survivors objective so of course they want to complete them.

Using anything "meta" is just smart. I might not LIKE certain perks design or gameplay implications, but blaming the players for using them is wrong. If they piss me off, it's the developers I need to blame.

As for toxic actions, that's a different animal. I don't go out of my way to be a jerk, I just don't (usually) think about my opponents "fun" when executing my strategy. (I let a metric ton of people out early in the crown event though, for instance. That was less about beating my opponents and more just a personal thing.)

"Yes like as a killer player I am not here to entertain the survivors or care the least about their "fun"."

So I expect you to not complain about survivors who tbag or bring meta builds, or those who rush gens because they're the survivor player, they're not here to entertain the killer or care the least about their "fun".

    That's right.

It's not the job of survivors to care about my fun (and they absolutely do not). Nor is it my job to care about theirs.

  • People always say "rank doesn't matter" and yet I can almost always tell someone's rank by little details in their movements alone.

Yes, Red 4 is rather easy to get to, since you're ranking up out of the lower criteria from Purple. It does get (slightly) harder to move up from there. (Yes, I know it's still not HARD.)

But yeah, I can almost always tell, "Yep, that's the Rank 1 in the group, and that guy over there is the rank 14 they're grouped with." just by observing how they move around. There IS a difference.

  • And the game after that one:

    image.png

4-man SWF. Actually not as blatant, but the 2 is clearly out of my range and I'm only getting them because they're grouped with the 8. (Was 12 at game start)

  • Learn how to hold W and/or run in a circle around things.

Yay, you just mastered getting killers to leave you alone.

its not really reliable to do this though. You could also see the reverse scenario with SWF all in brown ranks going against higher ranked killers.

With current matchmaking you can probably achieve this with a 4 Man SWF all in red ranks and they still get a fair amount of brown rank killers.

No, it's extremely reliable. It's consistent, predictable, reproducible, and I've even had SWF's straight up admit to me that it's what they're doing. I've even tested it myself.

Literally the game after I read your post:

    image.png

1, 4, 12 all grouped. The 11 was the only one solo.

This happens constantly, as in 100% of my games some nights, no matter what rank I'm sitting at.

  • Last time I played a SWF with an Object user, they whined that I tunneled them.

    Go figure. 🤣

  • @Mooks said:

Tbh this pic doesn’t suggest such a bad game. And we don’t know if they were really that toxic or even SWF (why would someone bring empathy?). Not saying you are lying but it’s only one pic from one match. And matchmaking is known to be broken, SWF can’t really control that with their ranks either, still just random.

you got a fair amount of points and didn’t resort to tunneling or camping as it seems, if they were harassing you in endgame I hope you reported them for this.

SWF definitely can influence it with their ranks. Bring 3 red ranks and a rank 16 and you'll get a lot of rank ~16 killers.

For whatever reason, it just doesn't work the way they say it's intended to work. Fairly easy to test this if you felt like it, too.

It's literally not all that dramatic, though.

If I run perks as a survivor to give me every possible advantage, if I get into a whole SWF group and we load up on flashlights with the singular goal being to bully a killer, that's toxic.

Nobody gets upset about losing, people get upset about whether or not they were able to play the game before losing.

Losing because you keep getting caught? That's fine. Because hatch was closed in your face? Also fine. Because you tried a stupid play and it didn't work? Fine.

But going out of your way to tunnel or camp effectively is choosing to make one player unable to play the game and it's inconsiderate, the same way SWF groups will load into a lobby without the intention of doing gens, totems or any kind of daily objective and will actively aim to make a killer chase em around til they DC.

Survivors, in that situation, get little to no choice in what is going to take place in the game, while the killer is afforded the option. To tunnel or camp or not to tunnel or camp? To play the game with no skill or effort or to actually try? Why even play this game if you don't want to patrol gens, outsmart or hook different people? If you want to chase down the same person over and over and secure kills that way, you may as well play any sort of FPS out there.

The big difference there is that the SWF is ignoring their objective just to be annoying. The killer is just doing their objective.

The rest is just the DbD equivalent of some new Street Fighter player saying, "GUILE KEEPS THROWING BOOMS AT ME ITS BORING ######### DO SOMETHING ELSE SO I HAVE FUN" and this is the only community where I've ever seen such nonsense seemingly supported by the majority.

  • I had a rule where I stopped using a perk every time someone called it toxic.

Turns out, I have to play perkless from now on.

  • @CyanideBlaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1435640#Comment_1435640

    Honestly? This.

If you're playing this game because you want to have fun, complete objectives, or just keep in practice for the next set of rift objectives, then yeah. You're not gonna read as toxic.

But when you say stuff like this

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1435597#Comment_1435597

That suggests to me that you really just thrive off of trying to ruin the game for others. You don't like being called toxic? When you admit to actively trying to make the game less fun for others because you want to win above all else, like how are you surprised nobody ingame likes playing with you?

Like, closing the hatch doesn't sound toxic to me, that ######### is funny af tbh, but tunneling isn't even fun killer-side either. It's the most boring way to play killer. Idk what you're expecting from this thread, really. Validation? You wanna play in a way that makes people dislike you and you don't care about people AT ALL, yaaaay? Other players are AI you don't care about? YaaYyY!

Why do people always bring up this, "Ruining the game for others by trying to win" nonsense?

Should they not try to win? Do survivors hold back and not try to win?

Why is it the responsibility of the killer to worry about how survivors feel about their strategies? Do survivors really stay up at night worrying about what the killer thought of their actions?

Why is your "game ruined" because you lost? Why should your opponent concern themselves with this? Do survivors ever change their gameplay based on this idea? Do you stop running a loop that it's clear the killer doesn't know how to handle because you're concerned you're making their game not fun enough?

I don't know why there's this pervasive idea that it's the job of the killer to constantly think about the feelings of their opponents and change their gameplay accordingly, but it's the biggest pile of nonsense I've ever seen in any gaming community.

  • Agree and disagree. I don't think it's the CAUSE of toxicity, but I do agree that the design of gameplay objectives can result in rather bland gameplay at times.

Consider that peak survivor gameplay would basically involve never letting the killer interact with you while you hold M1. And if they do find you, then peak gameplay is holding W and running in a circle, or following a predetermined optimal path around a certain tile. Ideally for so long that the game just ends.

It's not the sort of thing that feels super competitive or fulfilling for either side, honestly.

  • Issue: Poor matchmaking.

Response: 10 posts of people rationalizing that the matchmaking is ok because you have perks.

  • @bubbabrotha said:

As a killer, you have to.......kill! I don't get it when people get mad at me for tunneling, like I understand it's not the nicest thing to do but I don't care. I want to win. Keep in mind these are the same people sitting at the gates waiting to teabag.

Also, doing horror movie things like saw references is a no go either. Like shutting the hatch in someone's face. I'm the bad guy! I'm supposed to be evil! Just to be clear, I don't care about pipping, or bp.

Even though I always try to not be a complete jerk - no intentional camping, no letting people bleed out, stuff like that - survivors still complain all the time. There's no making them happy, so don't bother.

The bottom line is that it's not your responsibility to be the custodian of their feelings. They don't give a crap what you think - they're not going to stop doing gens, or not use the strongest loop they can, or not run the perks they want, or anything else - so why is the killer always expected to babysit them?

  • Yes, every killer is too strong. Get rid of them all so survivors can M1 all day.

Because the pip system rewards you for outplaying people of similar skill, if you played against a bunch of newcomers and stomped them to the ground you won, but you didnt really proved anything.

Its similar to putting Djokovic or Nadal against some guy who plays tenins on Sundays because he loves it, they will probably win but they didnt prove much, should that win give them points in the ATP ranking? (it shouldnt low their rank either).

Even people at the professional level of any sport/game/etc get stomped sometimes. It's just the nature of things.

A system designed to punish players for doing too well against players - players that they were matched against by that system! - is absurd.

Because I don't need to talk about anything survivors do -- that isn't what the post is titled as. It's about people using sweaty and tryhard as an insult. The poster said they literally don't know what it means and they're asking.

This isn't about "what do survivors do" or "what do killers do," but I've gone from amused to weary of explaining this to you at this point. Go ahead, be that one guy in the post who tries making things into a killer v survivor debate and derailing conversations. That's that I guess.

I mean, if you're so weary of it, you could just stop replying to people berating them for talking about what one side does but not the other.

Because really, it's you creating these arguments, not anyone else. You could just let each example go by as they should, not jump on peoples cases if they talk about the side you don't want them to talk about.

  • @Huff said:

    You did. LOL.

There's no drama anyway. Don't give yourself too much credit: you and many other people I talk to on here aren't worth being "dramatic." I'm just wondering why you, like many other people seem to, like to make things all about survivor vs. killer. I named one example of killers being sweaty and tryhard for the sake of answering the post and you have to reply to that with "but SWF do this." It is exactly those things.

You are here commenting back to me with a comment about survivor side. Tell me again how you're not "white knighting" for anything.

I'm not bitching about killer, I'm just simply giving an example of something that's sweaty and tryhard. I considered naming a SWF with all keys and Object of Obsession and DS and all that just as much. So it's not about picking one side or the other and I believe bringing that sort of mentality to the thread is unproductive.

But you didn't talk about anything survivors do, and you've felt the need to basically say, "STOP THAT" to anyone who has.

Everything else I would say is in my previous post, so that's that I guess.

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431615#Comment_1431615

That doesn't make any sense, because a killer can still use a mori in game and not be a complete dick about it. As you said, "facecamping is another story" and that's what I'm talking about. People who will literally do everything in their power just to shut everybody's game down, in the most scumbag way possible.

So yes, the implication does make sense. You can use a mori and not be a camping douche that moris off first hook. I'm not saying the act of bringing a mori in itself makes you a scumbag but there's definitely a scummy way to use it. Take a look at how people would mori animation cancel over and over back before the feature got removed: people will literally just do scumbag things just because they can. Honestly, the people responding and trying to make it about killer vs. survivor in their replies to me are probably exactly that kind of person. Either that or they're just trying to be combative for the sake of it.

I think it's hilarious how people are jumping in to white knight for killers because of what I said, just because it happens to be an example of a killer doing bad things. I could have said the "red rank SWF" example that other dude tried to bring up to me, but then it would just be the opposite, with survivors trying to get pissed and say "well what about killers doing blah blah." This isn't directed at you necessarily, but it's just funny how I give a perfectly on-topic example of what sweaty or tryhard would be (at least to most people, I would imagine) and I get people jumping down my throat about... IDEK what. I thought my example was perfectly fine.

    So dramatic.

No one jumped down your throat or white knighted anyone.

Fact is, though, that everything killers do gets bitched about. It's all "sweaty" or "toxic". Can't bring those addons, can't use that perk, shouldn't play that killer, hit this guy not that guy, why didn't you farm, I had a crown, give me hatch, etc.

Survivors would never not do everything it takes to win, but no one seems to think they're doing something wrong. It's just how it is. All second chance perks, 4 BNP's, skewed rank SWF to get matched against newbies and teabagging the gates? Haha, that's ok, just get good, baby killer!

So yeah, you'll have to pardon me if I just don't take any of the "sweaty killer killed someone" stuff seriously. Just get good, survivors!

  • @Yung_Slug said:

Surprised you don't get survivors that say "gegz baby killer turn bot difficulty up" or "you're trash please uninstall" after you let them escape. I've learned to just play the way I feel is right because some survivors are just extremely salty/ungrateful and there's just no pleasing them.

Yeah, honestly I don't see any reason to be "nice" to survivors.

I tried and tried during this event, and almost every single time they either talked ######### after, or simply took advantage of it to rush gens and not return the favor so I get 9k points in a game with 5 cakes.

Had a game recently where there were 5 cakes and a disconnect, so I just nodded at people and let them get off my shoulder after downing them and such. What did they do? Just kept running back to gens, finished them, then talked ######### about how I still lost with a disconnect.

Survivors always want you to let them farm, but are never interested in it being a two-way street. I can count on one hand how many times they've done so, but I can be certain that they're going to whine about "tryhard" and "sweaty" and "But I had a crown" and "Why do that when there's cakes" if I actually play normally.

So yeah, just gonna stick to getting 32k by killing everyone, because being "nice" just ends up making me feel worse in the end.

  • @MrPotato said:

Wait, the game actually is letting you grab?

Amazing, I'll grab survivors off a gen or a pallet an it literally kicks me off the animation. Feels like roadhog from overwatch when you clearly hooked someone and they use a deflect or teleport half a second after.

Yeah, I actually DON'T want to grab people anymore. It almost always ends in some kind of glitch and a survivor escaping without a scratch, so screw it.

  • No, Legion just has a much, much lower skill floor. So it's simple to pick up and do reasonably well for anyone.

Spirit has a higher floor, but a MUCH higher cap. Once someone is decent with Spirit, they're a powerhouse.

The majority of survivorperks are not worth running because nothing is able to remotely beat a perk that basically gives you a hookstate. Very good survivors do not need those ######### tons of second chances and will still ######### on killers. The perks are especially broken when you consider that each survivor has the same amounts of slots as killers therefore their perks SHOULD be weaker individually, yet the only perk that comes close to survivorpower is NOED, Pop, CI and Infectious on some killers, mostly NOED tho.

The perks that strip survivors of healthstates are most of the time VERY situational like haunted grounds or devour hope, pop is not even worth a hookstate compared to survivor progression.

All those "EXTRA LIFE" perks in general need to be VERY situational unless you want to bring up hundreds of perks to their level which ain't gonna happen.

    Exactly.

Its not that all other perks are bad, it's that the meta ones are THAT good.

It's kinda hard to beat extra lives in a game that's all about time.

Have you ever watched Puppers? Probably one of the nicest players out there. He often waits for the killer at the gate and let's them hit before he leaves. He even told his chat how it is extra bp for the killer, especially if they had a bad match.

Personally, I'm not sweating someone teabagging at the exit. I'll take the extra 300 bp.

At this point gearhead is a crutch and no mither is the meta

Well, No Mither makes you NEED a crutch, at least! 😂

  • Everything is a "crutch" as soon as an opponent gets upset about it.

  • Yeah...unfortunately the game wants to hide information, but isn't really sure how to do it in a mechanical way.

So instead they just assault killers senses constantly. Horrible nausea inducing FoV, ear-piercing blaring sounds, maps and visuals so dark as to cause eye fatigue, and so on.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1432074#Comment_1432074

That’s totally fair and all. But then there shouldn’t be complaints about genrushing or using „second chance perks“.

but we are stuck with both. And that will not stop because both sides won’t think about the other.

I don't complain about "genrush" for the most part because it's their objective, of course they want to do it fast.

About the only time I really get frustrated about players intentionally trying to screw with others is the whole, "SWF with 3 red ranks and 1 rank 16" because they actually are explicitly hunting for newbies to pick on.

  • Really wish people would stop with the, "Ruining my game" stuff when a killer goes after them.

Especially at red ranks, gens are going to be flying. Both sides are playing to win. Many killers often end up needing to remove a weak link or otherwise vulnerable survivor just to stay in the match.

And no, don't talk about how the killer shouldn't care about winning or should just "make it fun" for the survivors. They're certainly not thinking about the killers fun or feelings. They'll be out the gates in 30 seconds flat if you let them.

Sometimes you lose, and that's just how it is. Stop thinking about how the killer personally ruined your game and just go to the next one.

  • I dunno, been playing Slinger lately and people seem to clearly react when I'm at a certain distance, even if they can't visually detect me.

Maybe it's just inconsistent, like so many other sound bugs.

In any case, if it's legit, I bet it gets fixed so fast your head will spin. Can't have sound bugs favoring killers.

  • @Huff said:

Example: Got 4 cakes stacked in a game, only for the killer to bring an ebony mori, facecamp, and mori people off first hook? Playing with every possible advantage even when it's not even necessary, just because you need to to win?

That's a sweaty tryhard. And yes, I have killers do that ######### to me. If you don't call that sweaty or tryhard, IDK what you would call it.

No different than the red rank SWF's that do the same and end the game in 2 minutes when there's 5 cakes.

It might seem like an inefficient use of the cakes, but complaining that they played to win is silly. It's not on anyone to dictate how other people choose to play, which is what this comes off as.

(The only reason I get frustrated by it is that when I kill people they complain that there were cakes, so I should go easy...and when I go easy they just rush gens and end the game before anyone gets any points. So eventually I just stop thinking about what they want and play however I feel. Break out skill check Doc, get 32k with 5 cakes and 5 gens up. Yay. I get way more points just playing normally than when I farm, anyway.)

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Not surprisingly, that killer try to ridicule this. Both means basically the same, though used for different kind of situations.

Meaning in general: Somebody whose effort level and emotional investment is excessively high for the level of play in which they are competing. Those people are overly ambitious and taking the game too serious and act like their life depends on it. Someone who just uses the most cheap "tactics" to achieve their goal by any means, regardless of others experience.

"Try Hard": Most likely used on killers that use the most OP builds possible, something like Iri Huntress or Forever Freddy + Ebony.

"Sweaty": Most likely used for killers slugging for the 4k.

Of course it's you who pops in to declare that killers are somehow to blame for something here. 🤣

Love making the game fun. My only job isn't kills I want to make you believe,or your squad believe that you may die here. That's the best part of playing killer. Even when the gens are done your still worried and on the fence. That's the best part of the game tbh and same for the survivor side. Saying this game is over.

I hear that word a lot. "Fun"

People need to realize that different people have different ideas of what is "fun". Not everyone wants to run around and farm points. It's not "fun" to everyone to be handed an escape. To some people, the challenge and competition is fun.

It often seems like some people think they have monopoly on the definition of "fun", and that's just not the case.

  • I really, really want to love Shooty Boi, but even when I land every shot in a match I feel like survivors are just ignoring my slow-walking ass and gens are popping like nothing.

Not to mention that hitting people from range is nice, but the reeling time makes up for a lot of it, so you're not gaining as much as it might seem.

  • I suppose "stab and hook survivors" is, yes. 😁

  • @TheWind said:

I'm still really conflicted. Most of the opinions I've read here tall about how one side is taking it way too seriously where the other side isn't however my confusion lies in the statement itself. In my experience you don't result to name calling if you don't care or are just having fun.

You get angry in some way and in a game with such a clear contrary objective on both sides (survive or don't) I can only assume it's because you couldn't survive or couldn't get kills?

This is why I'm asking everyone here, how can you call someone a sweaty tryhard as an insult when it means you yourself where trying hard but came up short?

    It's just a whiny insult, that's all.

I had a 4-man SWF call me "sweaty" (among other things) for playing Doc, when they had brought toolboxes and a BNP. As if they weren't trying or something? Hah.

Here, let me do killer now:

Step 3: When survivor gets unhooked stab them again then use mori

    Step 4: Get 4k

Step 5: Go to forums and reddit to complain about DS and SWF

The thing is, OP really did describe fairly optimal survivor strategy: Lean on second chance perks and never waste time on anything that's not a generator. Don't heal so much, don't live by "Blendies gonna blend".

That's not to say that the actual execution is always that simple, of course. But that's the general strategy.

If people find it offensive to have that laid out simply, then perhaps there's a deeper issue with the gameplay design.

Charles would be the actual killer though, he could only be Chucky for X amount of time, say 30 seconds. It's no different to pig or ghost face crouching apart from the fact he can antiloop the smaller objects on the map like cars. He is supposed to be good with loops to make survivors unsure and fear them, the reason his power is short is so that he can't antiloop then forever.

That'd be hilarious. Make his power just turning into the doll. Automatic mid-chase mindgames. 😁

The actress playing Tiffany is Jennifer Tilly who is 5 ft 7 in (  170.18 cm). Chucky is barely the size of her torso.

He'd have to be sized up, otherwise he'd be the anti loop king because you wouldn't be able to see him do anything.

Best thread on the forum now.

You just couldn't nerf him or he would fall to D tier. Hes somewhat balanced and easily countered if survivors have more than 2 competing brain cells in a death match.

His demon mode CANT be turned off which is a huge limit to his gameplay, that means survivors just have to hide until its over. Their is mapwide audio for everything he does. Hes just an m1 killer without demon mode, worst even than wraith.

So Wraith would be better, you say?

Nerfs to Wraith on the way!!!
