It goes with their personality, not sure how they are the odd ones out. Changing prove thyself wouldnt work, as his character is about getting close and working together, he does better the closer he is, and how can you show someone what to do if they are far? Kinda doesn't make sense.

It's Prove Thyself, to me that means you'll show off how you yourself are a great player.

If you work together with others, you prove that working together is good.

If you work alone, you'll show off that you can do well on your own. (Hence my Prove Thyself idea.)

"But still, how do others see that?", you may ask.

    My answer is: The HUD.

Repaired a generator? The counter goes down by 1 for everyone to see.

Healed yourself? Your icon switches from Injured to Healthy for everyone to see.

Once again, the leader, he works with the team. Not solo, his perks within a certain range, makes sense guy. He proves himself where people can visually see him, makes sense. You show through people seeing. Idk if you're a troll or not but his perks work best when close, that's the theme. The point is to not do well on your own, hence his perks fight against being alone like bond.

Dwight ain't a leader, his backstory proves more than anything he sucks in social life.

Leader's just a Perk that makes him better at that.

He can prove himself by doing well on his own and surviving, and my version of Prove Thyself would encourage that.

No need to call me a troll btw, you were being nice up till then.

His perks revolve around leadership, and his wanting to be a leader. So it still fits. Even for the lore, working as a team and communication due to his aspirations, the leader within. Plenty of people aren't leaders at their jobs but in other areas are leaders, just not where a hierarchy is established. This is a real phenomenon. So makes sense still.

Often you can read about people "taking the lead" without actually leading.
Usually coincides with leading a charge: You're not doing anything, yet you're taking charge due to sheer motivation.
Perk could be exactly the same like that.

Besides, my previous point still stands: You can prove yourself without having to show it off within Line of Sight, you're taking that too literally.

Bond doesn't focus on being a leader btw, it focuses on being close to your comrades.
Just because it works well with Leader doesn't make the Perk by itself leader-focused.

Then new players can't play at all with their higher ranked friends because they'll instantly get demolished.

The solution to that is: Train solo.
    Or, y'know, play KYF.
People always seem to forget that mode exists...

  • Survivors have power in numbers, Killers in turn need power in other ways.
This counts for the lobby as well: While the Killer can see them, the Survivors can talk during the lobby, make a plan, tell eachother what to bring to sync them better with your Perks or Item etc.

  • Ohh, this is just a side-thought, but...

Since you got trolls sabotaging your Hooks, you might want to make Iron Grasp a standard Perk as well.
If they troll you by sabotaging Hooks, they might also troll you when you carry them by equipping Boil Over, messing up your walking big time.

  • @Chrona said:
So....Maybe not the best place to ask. What are the events like? I've only been around for a month or so.

Full of Killers camping event Generators and Survivors sabotaging event Hooks.

  • I equipped Agitation, Barbecue & Chili, Hangman's Trick & Iron Grasp on my Hillbilly.

    Hillbilly, to get around quickly.
Agitation & Iron Grasp, to get them to the right Hooks.
Barbecue & Chili, for the Bloodpoints & for the auras to get other Survivors quickly.
Hangman's Trick, to deny sabotage trolls from trolling.

  • I know that there's actually some people that like camping.
Whether they're in the minority or not doesn't matter, what matters is that, since not everyone thinks camping's not fun, it becomes subjective.
But the devs also can't just appeal to the majority all the time, cause then Survivors will get buffed more and more and then Killers'll run out, resulting in a dead game.

It's a PvP game (and asymmetrical to boot), meaning there IS going to be stuff you won't like to face.
Here's one GREAT way to keep yourself from having a bad time: Realize that it's a videogame.

  • Well no, i don't find it funny nor anything else positive.
But i don't find it anything negative either.
My chat's not even ever open...
    I prefer that.

  • It's difficult because Doctor practically requires it to be a Hex in order to keep it from being too much.
Every Killer won't profit too much from it if it weren't a Hex, but Doctor can annihilate Survivors with it.

    I see what you're saying,

but the perks synergy would feel lost. I thought the whole point was to use bond, have leader for them, have prove thyself for yourself while on an objective together.

Well, that's before the game went in the direction it did I guess.

There's enough Survivors whose Perks don't synergise.
Jake's Saboteur is the odd one out.
Nea's Streetwise is the odd one out.
Laurie's Decisive Strike is the odd one out.
    Etc. etc.

On a sidenote, if that were the reason for the devs to not go through with it, i'd heavily disagree.

I don't believe this was the case with the lunar new year event, and this seems to follow the same lines, so I don't think the basement hooks will be included.

Might be for the best. I get that they can't be sabotaged, but sometimes the basement ends up in such an awkward spot that getting someone down there would be difficult (without perks).

Something difficult is not allowed in the event then?

    Why include a mod tag?

Mod/dev/community manager/etc. tags are applied automatically when a mod/dev/community manager/etc. posts in a thread. It's a way for people to see which threads mods/devs/community managers/etcs. posted in. Clicking them takes you to their post.

Normally it's a tool to help people find answers to questions, but in this case, it just takes you to my dumb, not funny joke. So I wouldn't pay any attention to those unless you're looking for a response to the post.

Thanks for clearing that up. My apologies, OP.

  • You'll get it when they can give it.

  • I think it'll add a new Survivor, Killer, map and 6 new Perks, but don't quote me on that.

  • The forums won't change just because of your preferences.

  • No hard feelings, but i don't like these at all, especially your PWYF.

    They said that?
Lol, okay: It's annoying to have that happen, but it's not annoying to have a bright white screen burn your eyes at 10 PM or later, or just a dark room.
Point: Just make it fade to black. Doesn't look realistic, but you got a demigod stabbing humans with spider legs on meathooks, so whatever.

Seriously the ptb has yet to be released. Can everyone just wait to test these upcoming changes instead of arguing and crying?

Why can't people argue about upcoming changes exactly?
Is that a thing you feel only developers are allowed to talk about?
Or do you dislike people having different opinions from eachother, creating discussions?

Not really. Kindred is possibly going to be made part of the base kit so solo survivors are closer to the power of SWF, and that would allow killers to be buffed without leaving solo players behind. But the camping part of kindred is pretty negligible due to the small radius, so unless you're standing right next to the hook, it's not going to do anything.

    @Boss said:
Nah, i blame the devs for caving in to review bombers.

These changes have been discussed way before review bombing. They're completely unrelated. Moreover, if the review bombing is due to the exhaustion nerf, I don't see how making kindred part of the base kit would make them change their minds.

Things are often said by them and then turned out another way without mentioning so ahead of time, it's hard to not be skeptic.

Plans do change, but conspiring the worst case scenario every time will just sour your opinion and leave you disappointed regardless of what happens.

On the contrary, back when i was optimistic about the devs being so involved with the community and optimistic about changes were also the times where i became INCREDIBLY disappointed.
Now that i don't get my hopes up at all and want to see what they're actually trying to do (you know, the parts they don't tell), i'm not feeling sad, unhappy, disappointed at all.

  • Utility Belt: Not a single Offering in the game can be directly countered, so why would you be able to directly counter Utility Belt?
Make it so the Hook will be permanently broken after the first death instead of being able to take away its power permanently.
Also, maybe change the name, since this name's already slapped onto a Huntress Add-on.

    Sharpening Stone: Mkay.

Spike Boots: Would it make them injured? Cause i there's a difference between touching a spike and getting slashed in the back by a machete.
Maybe make it just hurt, but no damage is dealt to them.

Chain Links: How would this work as an Offering exactly? Would it randomly choose a window? Cause that's pretty meh unless it spawns on the Killer shack window.

Welcome Mat: Cannibal spawning in Killer shack + Welcome Mat = Absolutely broken.

Besides, just reverting or making the Exhaustion change less detrimental would make it way too clear that they're caving in. This way, it would make it seem less so.

  • Nah, i blame the devs for caving in to review bombers.

  • Heck yes to secondary objectives. :)

  • Flashlight saves aren't impossible if the Killer has Lightborn, a Twitch clip prove that to me.
If you're a Survivor and do the usual timing, but then don't save them, you know they have Lightborn, so now all you gotta do is shine it earlier than usual.

They also said that by making survivors more powerful it opens killers to be more powerful. Survivors get a little something now, killers get a little more later

    Right.
Like how sound issues were patched for Survivors in 3 days, but for Killers in 3 months.
    I'm so happy.

Since survivors get in built Kindred, maybe Killers will get inbuilt Surveillance. SO OP!

And then they'll complain if Killers demand something of more value.
As if they wouldn't be able to see the difference in power between a free Self Care and a free Monstrous Shrine.

I swear god you killer mains are salty as [BAD WORD] and people like you filled steam forums and now here i don’t care about you soon devs realize how they made stupid changes to survivors lol

I wouldn't call Killer mains salty, or at the very least not in comparison to Survivors.
Killers get nerfs: Talk about it on forums.
Survivors get nerfs: Bomb the game with negative reviews.

i watching forums reddit and 90 % killers are attacking survivor like crazy everbody have their opinions just move on instead being salty or type git gud survivors can complain too....

I know Survivors can complain too, i'm talking to an example right now.

    Many people attack eachother because...

    1. Internet anonymity.
    2. It's PvP only, with different gameplay styles for both sides, making one like one side more, with the amount of joy varying per person.

It's not exclusive to Killers, you simply choose to say it that way to make your post look more valid.
I come here about everyday and i see complaints are often pretty split on the General Discussions tab.
But i can't count the amount of Survivor complaints there were on the Steam forums, daily complaints about camping, tunneling and whatnot, which varied from carefully explaining why it needs to go, to outrages posts with enough cursing to not make any sense at all.

Also, yes, they have opinions. Then why is that a reason that they "have to move on"? Isn't this a place to state opinions?
You may not like opinions, nor may you not like how they put it. Well...tough luck, sometimes you'll see stuff you don't like.

  • Well anything nerfing their precious Sprint Burst & Dead Hard is outrageous.
If they'd increase the Exhaustion cooldown by 1 second, already they'd bomb with negative reviews.

  • Calm Spirit
    Self Care
    Spine Chill
    Iron Will

  • I'd like to see the Pig with different animal heads.

  • Might as well just remove the release date altogether.
You're only teasing those that pre-ordered it by putting up release dates that get changed.

  • Well i can poke people with a stick through an open window, so i wouldn't say Survivors are safe on the other side.
And if they're far away from the window and still get hit, blame latency, which can't be fixed by the devs because of how the game's made.
