Calling out your thought processes is one of the most important things for me. Not only does it give you something to talk about, it can help people who are new to the game.
Why are you abandoning that chase? Did you spot a crow fly off or see a crouching survivor? Did you hear someone shitting in the tall grass?
Good advice! Thanks very much for the comment!

I've just watched your most recent video, the one with you using the mic for the first time.
I think you've got a few things going for you right off the bat. Your mic and video quality are good and I hope it doesn’t sound weird to say that your voice is quite pleasant to listen to. You seem like a nice person and someone I personally would enjoy watching overall.
In terms of feedback, I feel like you could go further with editing and commentary. Editing doesn’t have to be fancy, just a bit of cutting here and there. Things like the pregame lobby and loading screens can safely be cut out unless you have something to say or show to the viewer, as they don’t add much to the experience on their own.
With commentary, I think it’s just a matter of overcoming that initial nervousness and getting in a bit of practice. It would be nice to hear you discussing the game a bit more while you play. I’m not commentator myself, but I imagine one of the easiest ways to achieve a more consistent run of commentary would be just to vocalise your thoughts more. As some examples, if you say, “I hope we don’t get The Game, I hate that map”, tell us why you hate it. If you mention that you don’t usually run Small Game, tell us why, or talk about the perks you usually like to run. Give us your opinions on things, or tell us a story if something you experience reminds you of a game you had the other day. That sort of thing just helps to show your personality and build more of a connection with the viewer. I notice you’re already starting to do that stuff as well, which is great.
Keep at it – like I said, I think you’ve got a good thing going here 😊
Wow, great feedback! Thankyou very much for taking the time to help, it means alot!!👍🏻

We're not allowed to link to external sites on here, but what's your name on YouTube? Perhaps we can look at some of your existing videos and give you more specific advice as audience members.
Its just my name lol - Matt Alexander. Bit hard to know the right one but my only vids are DbD so could maybe find me like that?

I think it differs hugely from person to person. The best general advice I can give is to be yourself and don't try to fake it for the camera, because people will be able to tell if the personality in your videos is genuine or not.
I think the top priority has to be character/personality, because literally anyone can post videos of themselves just playing a video game. What makes people want to follow one creator over another is largely down to their character. That doesn't mean, though, that you necessarily have to use a camera or even a mic if you don't want to. Some very successful Youtube LPers, such as Yrimir in Terraria, never use a microphone and just caption their videos with directions and comments. The important part is that their personality still shines through in their commentary and the way they write.
Skill in game is important to some people. Particularly if your "persona" is not the main attraction of your videos, it's good to have some sort of uniqueness to your gameplay, whether it's a certain style (for example, Noob3's signature toxicity) or just being really good at the game. I often find it very frustrating to watch someone play a game badly, although admittedly less so if they can recognise and acknowledge what they're doing wrong and improve as time goes on.
Look at other YouTubers, see what works, see what doesn't work, think about what you could emulate and what you would do differently. The bottom line is, if you're being genuine and interesting and producing quality content, you will naturally attract the right kind of audience for your "brand".
Good advice, thanks very much for the response!!

For me, it has A LOT to do with your personality. Like, you have to be chill, laid back, mature and humorous (but not overly humorous or child-like). Some commentary is fine, but don't be like talking 99.9% of the time.
Cool, thanks very much for commenting man!

Plague and Legion were incredibly difficult to get for me for some reason. Gatekeeper emblem is what let me down every single time 😂
-
Double pip. You dont dont have to 4k like alot of people say, as long as you double pip you'll get the achievement
-
Crotus Prenn, middle building is always a nightmare
-
Looks like I may have to leave it a little longer before returning then. I think I could grit my teeth and bare through the balance problems, D/Cs and so on, if lobbys were fast but I found it was taking upwards of 10 mins for just one lobby at high ranks. If the killer dodged after that time, it was all for nothing anyway.
-
@dovleac I don’t think anything other than real life issues are an excuse to DC. All of the reasons you listed are crap situations to be in don’t get me wrong, but your DC only ruins the game further for remaining people trying to play properly. Just tough it out, do your best and report at the end of the game.
Im not trying to justify the ######### behaviour of the reasons you gave at all, just pointing out that there might be others trying to play properly too that you could potentially help survive by giving the killer a run around.
Be part of the cure man, not the problem
-
I don’t think anyone disagrees that the ranking is a bit screwed. It definitely needed to be made so that only exceptional players on both sides achieve rank 1 but the conditions for achieving emblems needs looking at. Gatekeeper for killer is especially crap, at high rank there is rarely a chance of defending gens early in a match.
As a survivor escaping the trial having not even been chased should reward iridescent Evader emblem too. Have it reward great chases and great stealth, or scrap the ‘Evader’ emblem altogether and replace it with 2 more which could be ‘Courage’ for chases and ‘Stealth’ for evasion. Iridescent in both would be impossible but you’d only need one, depending on your play style to count towards emblem progression.
All players should automatically safety pip after a DC regardless of circumstances. I personally feel all remaining players should be given an extra 25% bonus to all scoring events after every DC to encourage them to stay and do their best. Rewarding fair play as well as punishing bad behaviour would be a great step in the right direction.
-
I don’t know what the answer is to be honest. The DC culture seems to be becoming irreversible at this point, even since the ban wave came, it’s getting worse.
-
It really is a shame, maybe this is the direction the devs wanted for the game to go? Who knows, I just wanted to put my 2 pence in.
-
Thanks for the replies, I think it’s how quick the first 2 gens pop that is my issue. I’ll try your suggestions and hopefully will get it!

I took about 2 months off. I've played about 6 hours over the past two days. Honestly, I am glad I took the time off. The craze I had before feels over, I get bored of the game pretty fast. Definitely not getting irritated at things that irritated me before either. I'm a beta player with almost 5k hours, for context.
Yea that sounds like a good idea, have a break and come back refreshed hopefully, thanks for the reply

Again, why buy the dlc when theres shards 4head
Mainly because I just don’t get enough time to play to save up that many shards (I have a 6 month old baby).
This is also the reason I am contemplating leaving, I only have a small window of playtime per day if I manage to get on, and that time is spent just sat waiting for a lobby or playing a killer match against people who quit the second things get tough. Either way it seems to be a waste of time at the moment.

I honestly don't get why the loading screen issues are taking so long. It has been months. I would imagine this is a priority fix for them too.
I think they asked for feedback before so I'm assuming its because rhey can't find the cause?
Not sure tbh, things just seem to be deteriorating in general. But hey, at least we have a new cosmetic for Dwight 👍🏻
-
Yea the DC rate has escalated hugely!!
I don’t understand how matchmaking has become so messed up? I think it all started with the Halloween event and hasn’t gotten better since? I may be mistaken though
-
@Master said:
No worries, summer will hopefully see a proper DC penalty so that you can play killer
Survivor lobbies will take long as long as killer gameplay is so awful (ur console I assume?)
Yea I play PS4. DC bans will be a welcome change!
Its either play killer and have games ruined on a regular basis or play survivor and have 2, maybe 3 matches an hour

Just remember the devs are trying their best, it's not easy doing or making a game and these devs have lives of their own, they are trying...patience....just try to be patient and just await as they are listening and reading forums etc and doing their best
I totally understand that and it’s a great game, I love it. The thing is it never used to be THIS bad. There have always been small issues but the game was at least playable and fun.
-
I thought it was RNG but it’s over 2 weeks worth now of just those 2 rituals. Don’t know what to do lol

Gotta admit I’m not sure, he jumped in straight away from what I could see but I managed to grab him still? Got exited thinking the standoff was possibly winnable now? 😂EntityDispleased said:Did the guy have self care on by any chance? I once had a Huntress throw a hatchet at me when she got bored of the standoff and when I clicked m1 and it started self caring instead of jumping in so she finished her cooldown by the time the game realized I wanted to jump in. It may be much more viable with good cooldown add ons but I'm not sure.
-
If the hatch standoff is winnable as huntress, I may have to invest some time into her again! Didnt think anyone other than tombstone Myers could win one lolPeasant said:The hatchet cooldown is shorter than your standard melee swing, so it's definitely possible. -
WOW, restarting worked thank god 😂 was about to fully freak out. Thankyou all for the quick responses!!

I’ve just seen all past Event cosmetics are gone too, including on killers. So much time and effort has just been lost 😫

I didn’t actually know about the ‘camera abuser’ part. Thanks for the reply man!AlwaysInAGoodShape said:You like disappearing?
There are a couple of strategies:
The multiple object spin-around
Starting at 13:22
Happening at 13:30 & 13:40Starting at 5:07
Happening at 5:13-5:20You make your scratchmarks dissapear inbetween 2 places where you can crouch around. The killer has to guess which object to circle. As you see in this chase, you can do it multiple times in a row, especially with lightweight.
The Camera Abuser (Risky)
Starting at 18:54
Happening at 19:01Because the killer camera isn't exactly in the middle of the character, he hovers over the middle of himself. This allows you to stand within the killer when hit, preventing them from seeing you in any direction.
If you manage to crouch behind something after the killer starts searching in the scratchless area then you might just disappear.
The corner duck
(not present in the linked video)
This is where you keep looping in a decently small loop so that you can run over your own scratchmarks and instead of doing the loop again, when there's a corner, just crouch in it and hope that the killer walks past you following your marks. (done a lot inside of the shack)
Sensitivity Loop
(not present in the linked video)
When a killer has a slow sensitivity or often possible on console, you'll be able to keep running around the killer if you run close enough, preventing them from being able to see you as they keep turning around.
As they spin, they no longer see you and start running in a random direction. This is your window to disappear.
Confuse pallet
(not present in the linked video)
After you throw a pallet and the killer breaks it, run straight towards the killer and as they turn, run the way you came from.
If the killer is bad, you'll have lost them.

Lerys would be murder to play as killer 😂 other than that sounds fun
-
Maybe not the hackers so much 😂 just mean the ones who don’t seem like they had anywhere to go and....... poof, gone 😂
-
Yea I met all the requirements for it. I’m never sure what the exact specification is for the adepts as I’ve gotten one or two with ruthless victorys in the past lolUnnamed_Freak said:Is probably bugged, you don't need to 4k, just reaching the merciless killer mark will earn the achievement. At least I think so.
Of course you need to only use that killer is personal perks.
Sometimes the achievement can bug because of add-ons or disconnects.

Whatever button you use to run given what platform you use usually works for me. If I’m down and don’t want to be healed I just press L1 and start to crawl and it will break away from the heal. Hope that helps?

Glad I’m not the only one!! Literally makes me think twice about equipping the perk at this point lolbrokedownpalace said:Nah this happens to me regularly. I can't move for about 2 to 3 seconds. On ps4 as well. -
On mine when touching the floor the character will glitch around for a second or two before I can have control again. The only way for me to describe it is like being in a game with ridiculously bad ping (I have good internet & always check ping before playing a match as well so that’s not the issue unfortunately)Rex_Huin said:I think there is a slight delay when you hit the ground but I wouldn't call it a glitch. Lightweight Chainsaw -
A lighter and easier to use model of chainsaw. When charging the saw, killer does not suffer from reduced movement speed.
I think this would help LF hugely more than billy but would still be useful for both, not sure if it would be too powerful though?
