+-6 isn't that bad. Nothing to complain about.
The gulf in skill level between rank 6 and 1 isnt even comparable.

You think locker build is unfair? Because survivors are playing without an exhaustion perk or BT? Or is it because they waste time cleansing totems when you don't have a hex?
I dont think its unfair, if thats the build a survivor chooses then so be it. My comment was merely to point out that there are other perks that synergise with hugely greater rewards than the new Ruin would with any build.
I feel both sides should be able to pick a strong well synergised loadout. (I realise there are others for both sides) just my personal opinion
-
"Ruin must stay a hex perk because when combined with perks like Surveillance it synergises too well, would be too strong and thus not fair".

You aren't alone...I am perfectly happy to sit in Green-Purple Ranks, usually Green due to taking breaks because of burnout & annoyances with this game...but Ive hit Purple a couple times... I KNOW where my limits are skill wise...I play casually to have fun, I don't sweat or expect to ALWAYS win....
But when this becomes my normal matching for gamea...it kills my morale
Let's...but the Devs apparently make balance changes based on newer Survivors and easing the frustrations. Coupled with map issues and matchmaking it really drops the idea of Killers being a threat. Even more so when more experienced players that know the ins & outs too well, keep punching down on lower rank Killers due to matchmaking. Thoughout Gray, Yellow & Green Ranks..Id get days of full on Red Ranks. In some cases when Gray Rabked, I'd get Green & Purple Ranks, which thankfully I could handle...but what about newer or more casual Killer players, what happens to them if this is how it is?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/893/CI5GSEL3EGFX.png
People say "its too easy to rank up as survivor" and red ranks is "full of potatoes" which in part is true. Survivor is ridiculously easy, but the problem lies in no matter how good a "red rank" survivor maybe as a whole, they do know what to do are quick on gens. There only needs to be one good chaser in a team of 4.

Apperntly they said in their stream today that within the next few weeks a solution to match making will be live. It better be >_>
We can only hope! Ive tried to look at it like "facing better players will make me a better player" but theres not much to be taken from 4-5 minute matches
-
Yea I upload vids to my YT so I try to use a different killer and/or build every match. Thats interesting how you can almost manipulate your lobbys lol. Unfortunately for all my attempts at variation of killers and builds, im inevitably met with the same 4 red ranks in my end game lobby.
They will have either stomped me good and hard or I will have 'beaten them' and need a lie down ππ

@ppo8820 said:
Yeah itβs rough. Itβs tough to keep grinding when the lobbies take forever and you get matched with red rank survivors. Itβs crap.
I wouldnt mind if it wasnt every damn match. People will think im exaggerating but im lucky to see even a purple rank lately.

Indeed. Predator is a huge attraction...and when it comes to Resident Evil...those devs have been hitting it out of the park for a good while now, so if I were BHVR, I'd step up my game. Though, I think people are right when they know they are on borrowed time and are planning for the short term to make as much cash as possible.
Totally agree! Scrapping events altogether and replacing it with the rift was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Trying to maximize profits (for nothing more than average cosmetics) and at the same time putting as little effort into the gameplay as possible isnt a good sign

Which if I'm not mistaken would be the first time a AAA studio would be throwing their hat in the ring against BHVR.
Im not 100% sure to be honest. I know the Predator character is a HUGE attraction, one many people on these forums have asked to see in DbD for years.
I dont know much about RE:R yet but there is quite a bit of hype surrounding it so far.
-
I feel like if a genuine competitor in the asymmetrical horror genre emerges then DbD will suffer hugely. Predator: Hunting Grounds and Resident Evil: Resistance are both around the corner so time will tell

I can't wait for the dc penalty either. A lot of dbd players are very immature.
I know π I dont understand why people dont just try? Some of the most amazing games I've had were when there looked to be no hope

I'm confident in my ability to play well and kill the majority but the thing that bothers me when playing them is that they're very judgmental about the way you play or the strategies yoy use that's mainly the reason I've started avoiding streamers at all costs. I don't wanna deal with hate from their communities.
Yea I get that, well i feel if that's the reason then just go ahead and dodge. Some people can be vile, there is no point playing the match if there is a chance it will negatively affect you personally.
-
Just do your best. It may well end up being a tough game but that's gonna happen from time to time. The only way to get better is to play against better opponents.
-
The amount of people that defend DCing is astonishing. The IMMEDIATE reaction is to accuse someone of playing scummy (whatever they deem to be unfair anyway). The DC penalties really cannot come fast enough

Fastest down?
I spawned into the match, took a few steps forward (was playing Survivor) and immediately got hit with a Huntress's Hatchet with Iri Head :)
I wondered what had happened π
Oh wow, that is impressive! Ill bet it made you jump π
-
The fact that not a dev/community manager/mod has said anything speaks volumes for me.
Even just a "we are aware of this issue" would have been enough to know someone is watching and that we have a shred of hope that issues are being worked on or looked at.
There are several assymetrical games being released this year. There will be competition where there was none and the lack of fixes/communication will tell sooner rather than later.

Yeah that's the data we're missing tbh.
New rank reset just royally ruins things for me, rank already doesn't mean much and now everyone will be eventually forced into red ranks. Good luck having any indication of skill then. Right now matchmaking is coinflip, with this new rank reset games will be even more coinflip regardless of rank.
Ironically I feel like if there were no ranks or with more people getting to red ranks on both sides that matches may actually end up being a little more even.
However the possibility would still remain for newbies on both sides to be absolutely destroyed.
-
I would be very interested in seeing the pecentages of the whole playerbase (including all platforms) across all ranks.
-
@gantes said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/991700#Comment_991700
I think it's still the christmas vibes from the devs tbh. They're usually more invested and they have been communicating a lot with the playerbase last year for example. I don't know how it was back in 2017 though because I started early 2018.
I do agree current matchmaking is AWFUL for new players though. As a new survivor or killer I'd just downright quit the game when I first started playing if I got matched against red ranks. This game is already cruel as is for new players without this extra hurdle. I do hope they fix that soon. Matchmaking worries me MUCH more than Ruin atm.
Agreed!! Thanks by the way to you and everyone else in the thread for keeping things civil and engaging in adult conversation. Its nice to be able to disagree with people but still be offered inciteful discussions ππ»

I get what you're saying. Assuming people aren't just massively leaving (which would be easy to observe by player count numbers), I don't think there's a lack of red rank killers. Requirements for ranking up haven't changed in quite a while, and rank reset hasn't come yet. That's why I believe it's purely a matchmaking issue.
I agree its matchmaking. I fear that issues as bad as this matchmaking issue are going to cause the playerbase to stall/fall.
The devs do not seem as invested as they used to be (when i got the game on release for console in 2017 there was a dev stream every week).
New players wont stay. Between the lack of knowledge given by the turorial and the chance to be matched with someone miles above your skill level, there isnt much insentive to grind.
Old/Veteran players could leave as the previous issue, amongst myriad other issues (broken sounds for killer being huge) just arent being addressed. From what i see on the forums some issues dont even get acknowledged
-
@gantes said:

And the answer has already been given. It's a matchmaking issue. Before they changed MM killer queues were long and survivor queues were instant. That definitely didn't mean there weren't red rank survivors. It was a matchmaking issue, just like what we have now.
I get its a matchmaking issue, thats why i marked your answer as accepted. I was unsure as to whether there is actually just a small number red rank killers or not (I dont think anyone is leaving).
I dont particularly care about nor did i mention que times, thats not what this was about. I just want to have a friendly conversation about people (on both sides) being absolutely stomped for no reason other than " matchmaking lol"
-
The intention of this post wasnt to start an argument as to the balance of the game but more to ask why green/purple rank killers can be matched with a full team of rank 1s when they clearly have no business being in the same lobby.
We all know there are numerous balance issues for both sides at all ranks.
I am currently a rank 2 survivor and rarely see a red rank killer. I always leave a thumbs up or message the killer to apologise if they were far outside of what should be acceptable matchmaking. Its horrible being utterly obliterated in 5 mins
-
I play both sides evenly and used to be a rank 1 killer and surv. I stayed there comfortably until the birth of my son. Not everyone gets the time to become or maintain being an elite player.
Matchmaking should absolutely be based around the killers rank. I dont mean to sound biased but every player in the lobby should start on a level playing field and let their in game performance be the only deciding factor of the outcome of a trial
-
The problem lies when there isnt a weak link in the survivor team. If there is a mix of ranks, you can wear the team down and the red rank/strong chaser will be easier to deal with.
When every memeber of the squad has full optimal loadout and knows exactly how to run tiles and where they need to go next there arent alot of options as killer.
The new ruin change is another example of the devs not realising how strong these high rank teams can be. "Ruin will benefit the killer in late game" is the biggest joke ever when talking about a hex perk.
-
In 3 years of playing this game, ive had plenty of toxic messages from survivors. I have NEVER received abuse from a killer, i know there are killer players out there who are toxic aswell but for people to try and compare the 2 is ridiculous. One side is so much worse than the other
-
You can tell the map is beautiful and alot of hard work went into the detail but, coupled with the lighting, its too dense for a first person perspective.
-
Theres literally no point chasing around the centre building. Every single chase immediately takes you to the centre because its the safest/best time waster
-
Yea it is a small one. The problem is the chapter has only been out a day and survs have already figured out how to gain maximum advantage over the killers vision. I know i sound salty π
-
Definitely good on console!!
-
I saved 3 dailies in preparation for Stanger things chapter and ended up losing them, they just werent there anymore. Gutted was an understatement ππ
-
Its just little things like this that could give the game something extra to draw you to specific characters. Definitely agree all survivors should have their own! I was just using Steve as a funny example π
-
I feel you op! The amount of green keys i find in chests is not even funny.
Sidenote - its always a good laugh when you see a survivor loaded in with a green key and used both the protection addons ππ
-
I know camping isnt the most fun thing for survivors but LF is perfectly designed.
Anyone who has seen the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre will know if you get caught and taken to the basement, you aint gettin out
Bubba is designed to be played as he behaved in the film, reckless, skill-less but very dangerous.
I get why people dont like it but its hard to deny he has been made perfectly
-
Im having the same problem, really frustrating!! Hope they fix it soon
-
Yea im PS4 also, havent managed a single survivor match all day due to this issue.
-
Yea SWF would ruin the paranoia there could habe been in a match but there are other possibilities, such as the 2011 movie in which the Thing was much more aggressive. I knew there wouldnt be a response, i just wanted to make a post as a bit of fun π

Yes, if you plan on recording PS4 game play, a capture would probably be best.
I actually have some DbD footage on my own YouTube channel, in case you want to know what capture card quality looks like.
Good luck with your channel btw.
Yea ill defo check it out! Whats ur channel called?
-
@Mister_Holdout said:
If you have a decent PC, then you can record your games on a capture card (elgato capture card for example).
This will give you more power to edit your footage. Also, the capture card software is user friendly.
Hope this helps.
P.S. capture cards are around $100-150
Thanks for the advice! Capture card seems like a good way to go

If you're using a PS4 to make videos you can also edit them using their editing software.
I have a couple questions that might help us point you in the right direction as far as tools, time and financial investment etc.
What is your channel focused on? Compilation clips, streaming gameplay, tutorials?
Do you plan on dedicating time for this channel with regularly scheduled content (daily, weekly, monthly)?
Do you ever or are planning on uploading your content to multiple streaming/gaming sites?
My suggestion, not knowing much, is if your channel is new, don't invest too much in the beginning. Let your audience find you and see what content drives the most views. You can then tailor your tools, time, and any additional investment without breaking the bank.
Edit: words
I did respond to your comment but it hasnt shown up so ill make another lol
I have been using the PS4 editing software so far.
I knew the channel wouldnt ever draw any big numbers when i started, its more about me having fun, sharing experiences and hopefully just spreading a bit of enjoyment to any viewers.
Right now i upload everyday and i plan to keep doing so. Maybe do a live stream a little further down the line too.
I dont mind spending a bit of money as its a hobby and as long as the enjoyment is there id be happy to do it.
Thanks for your response!

I too used to do YouTube edits (StevoTheTroll) from my PS4, used ShareFactory, which is free (though stuff such as themes can be purchased within it). Did the job rightly for what I used it for, though it was sometimes prone to crashing. I have since moved over to twitch (StevoTheTrolll) as streaming is more enjoyable from my perspective. Only really have time to stream weekends currently but hey itβs better than nothing. Editing on PS4 isnβt enough easy and compared to PC pretty limited, though respect for editing on it.
Thanks for the response! I have thought about streaming. Think i may try it out at some point!

The channel is focused solely on DbD for console. It is never going to draw big numbers but i knew that when setting it up. Its more about having fun, sharing my hobby and giving a bit of enjoyment to anyone who wants to watch.

Hey I love watching Panda too! I do play both sides evenly and ive got around 2k hours. I like to mix things up to be honest and experiment different styles and builds both sides.
I had a small break from the game and now the channel is set up im just sharpening up my skills again to get back to rank 1.
If you want to check out the channel I posted a link today in the media lounge section. Hopefully you'll like the content and want to stick around, your visit would be most appreciated ππ»
