  • I guess I just cannot get my head around it, a option to freely disable and enable that would be always nice since its a compromise for both sides, however I doubt honestly BHVR is gonna put recourses into that.

  • Sadge I cant test it since I am busy with work ;( really unfortunate, wish those tests would be longer then just 1 day each. Feels abit unfair for ppl who are busy at certaign times that literally dont get the chance to test it themselves tbh.

should be there now a option to turn off every single sound in the game?

Not every single sound, no, because a lot of sounds are needed for balance. However, turning off certain sounds on the client side which only disadvantages you by doing so, I see no problem with. Turning off the sound of Huntress humming permanently makes it much easier to hear things. You lose nothing by not hearing "OH NO DON'T DO THAT" every 20 seconds, because of other sound effects that play alongside it too.

Similarly, turning off chase music, not great. Turning of Trickster going "THAT'S IT" in Korean every single time you reload won't be doing much.

In the other hand what harm does it do?

  • That is true but atleast it gives survivors a reason to heal up. Many high up players dont heal up still to this day and rather stay injured with iron will. This counters it, also a big frustration of dead hard comes from the fact that the survivor is injured and therefore "about to die" and having this beeing robbed by dead hard feels very annoying.

If you change this now to a healthy state this "robbed" feeling isnt as bad anymore, since the survivor is anyway healthy. Now once a survivor is injured its way more of a risk to do anything.

Many plays can happen BECAUSE dead hard exists, if we switch the rules to healthy its gonna change up a whole lot to the game. Thats why I think its a good idea honestly. More changes are also still necessary like dead hard shouldnt make you avoid unlethal attacks like doctor shock but also it shouldnt give that much distance aswell.

mkay demo, blight, oni noises are annoying bc theyre repetitive? same issue with the voice lines, theyre very repetitive and i have no attachment to any horror licences so theres nothing there. every 3 seconds is another line ive heard before and its just dull and frustrating and i do not want to hear them anymore.

Dont get me wrong but I am still very confused, this seems you have some kind of problem in general about those kind of things, not really the game's fault. What I mean is you could use this argument to literally anything.

Gen sounds, hit sounds, screams of survivors, footstebs hell even the wraith's bell. You can say this to all of these things since they are all repetetive, should be there now a option to turn off every single sound in the game? I dont know seems just unnecessary to me to be honest.

  • Wut? I dont really get what the problem here is? I could understand Demo, Blight or Oni screams cuz they can be pretty loud but voice lines?

What if they changed it to only activate when healthy. That way you know you will get your down guaranteed.

Exactly so what you can do about it, is hit the survivor then "scan" the zone (right or left it depends on the situation) to hit the guy with your lingering hitbox if you miss the initial tentacle strike because the guy was healing someone. It works well for me, hope it does for you all

Thats common sense if you play Nemesis often but ye you are right.

  • @some_guy1 said:

hitting hooked survivors instead of the unhooking one is pretty common on ALL killers, not just nemesis

and while a survivor is healing someone who is downed, their hitbox is misaligned (the hitbox should be where the survivor was standing when they started the heal)

I played before my break which was at the midchapter before onryo came every day for hours and never had this happen. I played easily over 200 games on average. I also had my tournament around that time and none of my participants had any of this happening, there where even killers from NA. I know what you mean but what I am trying to say is its not as common as you say, especially if you are standing right behind that guy and whooping his ass.

I know about this, you dont need to treat me like a newbie thanks, I was hitting the survivors straight through.

  • Coldwind, Autoheaven and the Swamps all still have to this day also very inconsistent hook spawns, you have sometimes entire corners of the maps with just 1 single hook in the close middle side which means if survivors die there after you used that hook there is 0 chance to hook anyone near there anymore.

Hook spawns are busted and I had quiete a few games where I had to let ppl bleed out just cuz of that. Honestly I am suprised that the devs do literally nothing about it since years.

The thing is, maybe there is going to be a Addon Combo that makes Legion super Strong if played well. Something like additional Speed Addons and Duration. So you can get the 5th Hit. ANd because they didnt want to make only boring Addons that dont change anything really, they made the Power better, but not too strong.

We'll see in the PTB. I for One, am super excited since i've Mained Legion pretty much since they got their Rework.

I hope honestly that old susies mixtape is back, it gave Legion a 0,4 M/s movementspeed buff on FF. Would be cool if they bring it back.

  • @DoritoHead said:

I've also mained Legion for a long time, and I disagree. I think these buffs are great. Chaining hits together with speed and duration (if they don't remove duration addons) will make chaining hits pretty easy. Even if not, the reduced fatigue and extra speed will still be a huge help.

Agree but I dont think this is enough. Nice QoL changes that make them feel good but that will not make Legion more of a threat really.

  • @TheOneTrueTristan said:

Keep in mind there are still some addon changes we haven't been shown yet. They could be mediocre or game-changing but, for me, these changes are a net positive.

Ye I agree, however if there is such a strong addon that would make Legion a addon depended Killer to be viable which isnt really great.

Again not saying the changes are terrible but it isnt enough, Legions FF is a good ability and doesnt need much change, but Legion needs something to shorten chases outside of FF, its the M1 killer part that makes Legion that bad not the FF itsself.

  • @jesterkind said:

How on earth is this "RIP Legion", these are all straight buffs...?

Legion's going to be in a tremendously better spot after these hit live, especially depending on what their addon changes are looking like. Legion never needed gigantic changes, they just needed to be a little more consistent and to have something for a little more mobility- getting much faster from chain hits and reducing their fatigue is what they needed, frankly. The instadown is neat, too, rewards you for positioning yourself well even if it won't come up much in most maps.

In casual or decent gameplay yes but not nearly in higher dbd games. An M1 Killer is just a joke, Legion can have as much QoL changes to FF they want, it will still not be nearly enough. FF itsself is fine as you said and I agree with you there but FF is not the only thing Legion needs.

remember that I presented "a reason" and not "THE reason."

can you elaborate more? I dont really get what you mean with that sry I am dumb xD

  • Kinda of yes but no

I want to play Killer mostly at late nights, idk why I just feel like it.

But I keep getting SUPER MEGA sweat squads at late nights, teams that play nearly perfect with 4 items (most of them purple or insane addons) that just play to win. I dont feel like playing against that so when I get tired of it I play survivor abit in hopes to kill some time till those squads stop playing. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

If I keep getting super sweaties I just quit dbd and play something else.

Thats how every night looks like for me. Well I actually am taking a break atm from dbd, I played maybe 3-4 games this entire week, I am mainly playing 7 days with some mates and we enjoy it pretty hard so ye I am happy to take a break atm.

  • @Canas said:

Usually I'd like to present some evidence on why only up to 10% of players in queue are playing killer but I fear the forum mods won't like it due to these statistics being extracted via third party tools. Those of you who follow certain content creators might have heard about the related twitter thread, though.

One thing's very clear however: there's a severe lack of killers playing this game nowadays, caused by them either reducing their playtime or outright quitting DbD. Those who bother to stick around have 2 options: either play Nurse/Blight or become a dedicated camper/tunneler to gain any progress in a simplified MMR system that heavily promotes kills over any other sort of interaction.

The reduced killerpool also makes any actual balanced matchmaking borderline impossible due to lack of diversity in the skillpool. There are far too many survivors who have learned to abuse their role to the fullest extent.

Perks like Circle of Healing and Dead Hard have made the killer experience extremely stale and repetitive. Simply hitting a survivor to spread "pressure" doesn't work anymore, healing as a mechanic is absolutely out of control. You're literally forced to commit to any chase while the other 3 survivors are finishing gens at alarming rates. And those chases can take VERY long if you're playing a simple m1 killer with no other way to down someone.

It's only going to get worse the longer BHVR neglects these issues. Nerfing these insane perks would be the first step to address the situation, the next step should be to buff 75% of the killer-roster, and finally killers should get an inherent BP multiplier to compensate for the extreme stress they have to endure.

Playing DbD as a killer feels like a chore, it's anything but fun. Survivors already make as much bp as the killer if they know what they're doing, this isn't really fair considering how their role is the much easier one.

Ye you got it basicly on point and it is sadly the truth. However we all know BHVR, we may get any kind of band aid fix in the next year probably.

  • Erruption an underrated gem

  • cuz there are ppl out there who also enjoy playing other killers and dont go always for kills only?

Seems like you are rather new or have a lowerish amount of experience (Around 1-2k hours). Once you start getting used to that you dont care that much about winning. Infact I actually never met a 5-6k+ hours player who only cares about winning. Except competetive players ofc.

  • @CakeDuty said:

Hexes cover the whole map and don't make a loud noise that's easily trackable, take 14 seconds to be cleansed by default

Boons take 14 seconds to set up by default, has a 24m radius, let out a chime so it's easy to track and takes a second to snuff

Boons aren't a problem. Circle of Healing is.

You cannot compare the time investment of a killer vs a survivor. The killer is alone, therefore he gives up his entire game pressure just to get rid of 1 single perk that can be replaced at any time. There are also a good bunch of very crazy indoor totem spots that require the killer to take a giant detour just to get to it.

A survivor cleansing a totem is just 1/4th of the entire teams time and effort meanwhile 3 others can still go for saves, hump generators or take the killers aggro and get chased.

    Boon!

  • Ruin cant regress it.

    Call of brine

    Pain resonance

    Dead mans switch

could also use it even against plague vomit.

I wish that they would remove the restriction from the perk that you cannot block a gen while someone else repairs it. Yes its against trolling but still it is dumb that you cannot utilize the perk in solo q really.

  • For which killers are these perks?

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2868365#Comment_2868365

Sure it combo's with other things decently, but it still doesn't justify the slot to me. It's not a particularly powerful effect, nor is it interesting to me. I typically do 1-2 slowdown perks and then 1-2 information / utility / meme perks.

A perk like Hex Plaything is infinitely more fun for me to use. Not only is it a huge timesink since you get 4 totems, which the survivor could spend a solid minute finding, but there's also added slowdown from them sometimes being too scared to move around the map quickly. I think getting plaything'd against a Bubba is butt clenching on a ton of maps. That's like peak slowdown perk to me.

A slowdown like DMS, where it just mindlessly blocks the gen, is really effective but a snoozefest. I try not to stack them in my builds because then im just playing base kit killer with no fun interactions in the game from my perks.

I am the same, I use 2 anti gen at max, my blight build would be BBQ, Shadowborn, Pop and Erruption.

Ofc erruption isnt on ruin or dead mans switch level, I never said it is a top tier meter perk, you can everything talk bad if you compare it with the absolute best lol.

  • @MissBehavingX said:

I rather have a ruin-undying killer that will make me go around looking for totems than just sit and wait at the gens.

I could say the same about survivors there are SO MANY perks that you would consider meta, there's more variety in survivors than killers nowadays. I would've agreed a few months ago, but now most killers run that basic build

Maybe look up a guide how to counter dead mans switch and pain resonance, you do it wrong atleast from what you are writing here.

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2868344#Comment_2868344

Going out of my way, spending killer time to kick gens for potentially 16 seconds of slowdown isn't worth the perk slot. Especially if I am giving up a chase to do it.

Pop gets me 20 seconds and allows me to save the gens I want. Call of Brine could be getting me like 30-40 seconds sometimes. Ruin could be winning me the entire game if it stays up. If some miracle happens and I get two survivors Erupted at the same time it's ~30 seconds of gen slowdown. It's really not that good.

If I could ever get Eruption to work, other slowdown perks probably would have served me better. And I don't mind running off meta perks, but Eruption is a boring slowdown and if you are running a boring slowdown you might as well use the best ones.

who said you dont combine erruption? I use it with pop so you actually dont waste any time at all since you anyway kick gens with pop. These perks support each other perfect.

You can also use it with call of brine ofc.

Very unlikely as they already confirmed Legion and Ghostface are the next to get major changes.

so at the most it could be very minor buffs/changes to addons for Myers.

But the devs said that they will definatly take a look into myers at some point. I would assume after legion and ghostface but we will see I guess

  • Had a rough start at solo q, everyone died cuz the Blight had a good hook in the open and kept coming back, he eventuell hook traded with everyone till 2 ppl where dead. He got the other one and was going then to me. It was clear that my team wasnt that experienced and also he was tryharding like crazy.

The game was pretty much over but I never give up, I was giving him the loops of his life and it came to the point where this guy let me pick up the other guy and he was finishing the last gen and he made it even out, I died sadly but he only wanted me and literally ignored the meg. He got really salty after beeing looped for that long.

Here is the vod if someone is interested to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94n_gDsEZRY

I felt pretty good after this game even though I died, he was using a full anti gen sweat loadout with pretty strong addons and I managed to annoy him and make this game way rougher then it was :)

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2868334#Comment_2868334

Pain Resonance is RNG and not reliable enough for me to want to take it seriously. It's nice when it works but I have too many games where the area I am downing people at doesn't have them. Indoor maps it might as well not be a perk half the games. If I want to gamble on RNG I will go all the way and bring hex totems.

Eruption is dog tier. Pop / Ruin go just as well with camping and tunneling as they do playing nice. MYC only works on a small subset of killers.

Devour is probably the closest thing to a viable "nice" build but then you are a glass RNG cannon and totally fall apart when it gets cleansed 3-4 hooks in.

Some maps are completely busted and if you are trying to go for 12 hooks against people hugging a main building with a straight up god window (why BHVR keeps adding them in after going through all the trouble to get rid of them a few years ago is beyond me) it's an auto loss.

you are brushing off everything way too easy my friend.

And no erruption is not dog tier, its close to many other anti gen meta perks, it just requires planning and brain to use (Not saying you dont have a brain, 99% of the players all say erruption is #########).

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2868307#Comment_2868307

I camp and tunnel almost every game. Unless it's such a stomp that I can afford to spread the damage around and farm some BP.

It is a shame there are not too too many perks that incentivize you to play "nice". No way out is probably the closest thing we have right now, unless you are starved for BP and need BBQ stacks. Grim embrace seems pretty doggo tier in comparison.

Unfortunately my experience has been that if you play for hooks, survivors will usually just try and bully you for it. That's when you get the guys running over to force DS and teabagging at every pallet and thus and such. And after some point you just stop caring and go tunnel everyone into the floor.

It's like I can go get 9 hooks, 1 kill, and get BMed at the exit gate for playing nice. Or I can get 9 hooks, 3 kills, and a ton of salty survivors crying in the endgame chat about tunneling. Those are my options. People still go out of their way to complain even when you spread damage and play for hooks, you don't really get any extra gg's unless you are a huntress main doing that or something.

Pain resoance incentivizes you to play "normal" and nice. You want to get as much hooks as posssible, some ppl say you want to camp there which isnt true, I played alot with scrouched hooks and rarely had situations where I had to stick with that 1 hook, I always have on all maps most of the times a hook close enough.

You could also take many other perks like erruption that wants you to patrol gens more rather to go for chases only, make your choice, pop, ruin.

There are more perks out there honestly that help with more healthy gameplays.

Sometimes you do get punished for playing on hooks mainly I agree, you gotta find a nice feeling when you go for hooks or not, thats the art of playing killer.

Guess its a hit or miss there, I love the backpacks personally.

  • It wasnt as op as ppl said it was, its just annoying if you actually managed to grab ppl off gens, but if survivors had a brain you could still react to it. It was strong yes but it wasnt "no counterplay busted", for example iri Blight tag is way stronger in comparison.

I agree though that this is boring, I find it boring myself but honstly... what else should you do? I could have been more clear there. One way to keep killers from camping is to encourage them to leave the area to patrol gens or gain a benefit, like Pop Goes the Weasel, Devour Hope, or Make Your Choice. They encourage you to leave the hook and perform actions elsewhere. Perks like Jolt, Oppression, and Pain Resonance allow you to pressure the gen progression without having to patrol/leave the hook area.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Ye I agree there

While it's nice to see the nearly despised perks getting some attention, changing the meta isn't really a solution. there will always be a meta, and it will always be boring and rigid. The problem is not that there is a meta, in my opinion, the problem is that there is hardly anything else.

tbf this is something EVERY online game struggles with. Its not really the games fault if ppl decide to only use the best out of best. Its a problem of the players, yes you can try to nerf the meta but as you said there is always a meta and its in the end up to the ppl what they choose.
