They do it because it’s the path of least resistance. It’s the easiest way to secure kills. And the reason the Gen slowdown meta was dialed back is b/c killers could effectively camp/tunnel but survivors couldn’t even get through enough gens to punish that. Killers were scoring 2Ks before survivors could complete 3 gens and that was why the gem slowdown perks were altered. As a concession (and to further disrupt camping), survivors take much longer to reset after hits/heal up now.

Lmao. Cute idea. But absolutely not.

That's not true, Mangled just makes it take longer to heal, it doesn't affect charges in any way. Even if the killer has Sloppy you can heal yourself with just one med-kit.
Assuming you aren’t interrupted by mistake, killer presence, or anything else. Yes. But if you are interrupted then what Harlock said is true. Additionally if the killer hits you with Sloppy they’re probably not dropping chase so you can begin your 50 second heal.

Yeah but BHVR -really- doesn't like doing anything that increases queue times even slightly. They prefer uneven games so long as it means fast queues.
Because before MMR when they did rank-based match making queue times were much longer & people complained. MMR was designed to ameliorate that. Now y’all still complaining.

A mind control character would absolutely be hated. An unavoidable CC that then stuns other players? That would cause a flood of hate.
As to your sorcerer idea how is that any different from. "Huntress but instead of a hatchet throws a red fireball".
There are no "fun" killers because survivors want a killer that has a power that cant hurt them, reduce stealth, give away position, expose them, give the killer mobility, have side objective, be anti-loop, and it can't be used to camp gens. There is no power that fits that definition and you would be extremely hard pressed to come up with one that somehow does nothing but is also worth being called a power.
Literally any killer power idea that anyone has can 100% be labelled boring/unfun/shouldn't exist If we followed forum rules.
I think lots of killers currently in game are fun to play as and against. And while your post weirdly turned into a whiny rant about survivors, I frankly don’t see how a killer that can hijack other players’ abilities to play the game at all (mind control) would be okay. That’s actually bat guano.
-
If SWF are unstoppable, what are their exact opposite—solo queue? I never see killers complain about how easy it is to deal with solo queue. Where are the “I’m dominating solo queue survivors & that isn’t ok” posts? Lol. Because most survivors are solo queue and only 5% of teams are 4-man SWF.

- Gamers like to look fabulous.

Nah b/c most games feature male protagonists and are in third-person view so you’re looking at male ass. It’s because the guy survivors are louder, larger, and have bigger hit boxes

To my understanding, the locker will shake and have mist spilling out if it is locked and Dredge enters it.
If you stay for more than 8 seconds, the mist will begin spilling out, showing that Dredge is hiding inside.
Oh when its sitting in the locker idle.

The notification when it teleports to a locker is the locker shaking. I haven’t heard anything about an 8-second notification.

I know we arent supposed to win every game, but how it can oke, that survivors are allowed to bring a map offering every game.
The worst players wouldnt be for ever the worst players. At some point they will become better.
Yes it is better playing killer nower days, but if you get a team that rlly want to genrush and are a little bit smarter than average you cant hold the gens.
killers can bring map offerings as well and idk if this is true or not but I’ve heard they get priority. So if one survivor and one killer brings a map offering it favors the killer’s selection. Additionally killers are moving away from Gen pressure to chase/hook pressure. That is what you should focus on, not necessarily guarding gens. It’s easy to snowball as killer with just one down

They don’t have to be a good looper. The point of asking for videos is to see what they and their teammates are doing. To see how good or bad the killer is and to see how bad solo queue actually is for them. Is it really an issue with the game design or the players? Is buffing solo even more than they’ve already been buffed warranted or is it simply a matchmaking issue?
It’s not bad faith to ask for evidence. It’s bad faith when you run from a conversation or imply the devs don’t care or are bad at their jobs without actually saying so, like the OP did. They obviously have an issue with the game but they refuse to even have a discussion and just want people to jump on the bandwagon get ignored.
Hmm. You really don’t need OP to provide video evidence of how people behave in solo queue. The experience of solo queue is a dead horse that has been beaten ad nauseam in these forums. You know solo queue players are inefficient. Everyone does. It’s talked about daily—and many other players provide evidence, including the most popular streamers. Hell, Otzdarva talks about how bad solo queue is //weekly//. The reason you asked for ‘evidence’ is because you want to try poking holes in OP’s argument. That’s where the argument from bad faith comes from.

It would be very interesting. It would be interesting to see how long you loop the killer or how fast they down you or your teammate.
Tunneling and camping only work because survivors let it work, and it would be interesting to see how often you/your teammates fail by feeding the killer.
Being casual is a “you” problem and not a problem with the killer or their tactics. If one side wants to play to win and the other is indifferent about winning, the side who wants to win will usually win, irregardless of the tactics used.
Of course, like so many posters on here, you won’t share videos of your gameplay. You’ll just deflect instead.
So my problem with this narrative is that this one person (OP) isn’t going to carry a team to victory through solo queue even if they’re an amazing looper or whatever. They said they aren’t a great survivor but tbh they shouldn’t have to be. And it really wouldn’t matter if they were. I’ve seen great survivor mains like Ayrun and Naymeti and really good killers who play survivor like Spooky Loopz and Otzdarva loop killers from start to end yet still die. And that’s a loss because they didn’t escape the trial, which is the win condition for survivors. It doesn’t really matter how efficient this one person or that one person is because this is a game of attrition. The only way OP could theoretically have a great solo queue experience and potentially win by themself is by bringing some sort of end-game selfish survivor build. Which you and your ilk discourage (sUrViVoR iS tEaM or whatever your battlecry is). I think you approached this argument in bad faith and that’s why OP ultimately dismissed you.

Again, if you want to learn how to play solo queue, watch Twitch. Go on YouTube. There are loads of content creators whose skill set is much more attuned to explaining things to people. People making things aren't always the best at explaining that knowledge to laypeople.
Learn how to loop, learn how to pay attention to what the killer and your teammates are doing, and slam gens. That's pretty much all there is to it.
“Be a one man army. Then, and only then, will you master solo queue.”
How can OP loop the killer while also slamming gens? Do you realize this is a game of attrition so even if OP focused on gens if their teammates aren’t holding chase or completing gens that work won’t matter? Lol. The streamers you talk about carefully curate their uploads and admit that solo stinks. Where does that fit into your narrative?

Sounds good, can we make it so you can turn down chase music now? Or is sound only important for survivor?
I thought the chase music was so survivors didn’t hear the killer’s footsteps and stuff? So it was like harder to know how where exactly they are if you’re in a loop/by walls.

I really don't understand why players can't work on generators. I see so many 4ks where I do 2 or 3 solo gens and 1 gen is done between the other 3 teammates combined. What are people doing when they're not in a chase or healing? Maybe I just have no perspective anymore and "finding gens" is a thing. But I feel like that's literally what SBMM is supposed to address.
Sometimes they’re scared, sometimes they’re doing challenges. Sometimes they’re exploring. Idk. You tend to get a variety of experience levels with MMR when you play.

I don’t believe this is true. It was a little better in that I think you could feel hopeful if you saw your teammates doing useful things (gens), but it didn’t really stop survivors from doing use*less* things.
-
Devs said it’s because changing FOV provides a buff to killer’s abilities to kill, which makes sense, whereas the visual terror radius gives no advantage to survivor since it’s information they technically already have. Devs must be careful about adjusting killer gameplay mechanics in a way that inflates killrates because they don’t want them to rise above I guess 65%. They’re between 60 - 63% rn.

if you have LOS of hook, and by that I mean you can see the survivor’s body loaded in, you are proxy camping.
So, basically 'If you are not as physically far away as possible; Survivors will complain, invent a phrase to shame Killers, and blame the Killer for doing this thing they invented with arbitrary rules to it.'.
I mean it doesn’t matter to you if survivors complain or not (and it shouldn’t, tbh). Because their fun isn’t your responsibility, after all. Like I said it’s ok to camp just be honest with yourself about it. You don’t earn brownie points by trying to like explain it away, deny it, rationalize it, justify it, etc. you camp and that’s ok. Most players do. Hell, I do. Lol.

Ive had cases where playing billy i hook. Saw away. Can't find anyone because lets say its like red forest or something. The unhook happens. I go to where i know people are so i saw back and down the unhooker. I proxied by using a killers power? Like i know billys rare but his design is to get around the map quickly lol. Other cases is where its like final 2-3 and it just doesn't make sense to be hunting the 1 while over half the remaining is in one spot. Only other case i can think of is me walking off and the survivors do the back save while im literally walking away. So theres a good few of examples.
Here’s an easy answer: if you have LOS of hook, and by that I mean you can see the survivor’s body loaded in, you are proxy camping. You’re proximate to the hook. If you cannot see the hook, meaning you’ve moved so far from the hook if the survivor is saved you just see the bubble, you’re not proxy camping.
-
I feel like new players are discouraged from queueing in as a survivor.

Ah yes, more 'Try not doing anything that could help you win. Allow us to name it and shame you'.
Again; returning to a hook ain't 'proxy camping'. That's a BS, made up phrase by salty Survivors.
I mean… proxy camping means you didn’t leave the area, and if you’re in position to return to the hook and secure a down or w/e after a hooked survivor has been saved the only way you could successfully do that is if you were (proxy) camping. It’s ok to camp but like own it. Lol.
-
@NoHookDC said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3416544#Comment_3416544
Because Survivors tend to heal under the hook.
Because I could chase the unhooker, as I know where he is instead of hunting for the other 2 Survivors.
Going back to an unhook is not 'proxy camping'. Or are you implying I have to ignore unhooks?
If you were across the map returning to the hook wouldn’t be strategic. The only scenarios where it’s at all reasonable involve some form of camping (face or proxy).

I'm seeing a lot of comments here tying the statement to players bringing the strongest perks/add-ons for their side, and playing how they want, regardless of what experience it provides for the opposition.
That has always been an issue with the game.
The phrase "your fun isn't my priority" is becoming wildly popular right now because it has been adopted by self-serving survivors. Whether it is disconnecting, killing yourself on first hook, or outright refusing to progress the objective at any point in time, the phrase and mentality is being used to justify the actions of really poor teammates.
Solo survivor has never been more difficult, yet "your fun isn't my priority" is now the rallying cry of survivors who would sooner queue into another game than help their fellow survivors make it out alive.
Sportsmanship in DBD is dead.
People have been turning a blind-eye to this attitude for years, and BHVR in-turn has facilitated changes that support the self-serving survivor. Now that it has been brought into the limelight, I hope BHVR and the community acknowledge how damaging it really is. If not, it will be the death of this game.
Ironically I see that your fun isn’t my priority statement more from killers than survivors. But regardless of who says it, it’s always true. No other player owes any player in this game a single damn thing. Especially not a fun experience. It’s up to the game designers to ensure that, not individual players.
-
I guess my question is why are you racing back to the hook when someone is unhooked? It sounds like you were proxy camping anyway, otherwise that would be a ridiculous strategy. Because if you were no where near the hook during an unhook, you would waste so much time trying to get back there to potentially hit the unhook survivor (which let’s be honest that is what you were really going to do) or their saver.

I haven't actually seen any complaining about SB and lithe from killers, even on Reddit. Only copium from DH users insisting that people who disliked DH just got some kind of self own.
SB is strong, but it takes a lot of micromanagement to have it when you need it. Either you're constantly running to keep it 99'd, in which case you aren't doing anything useful. Or you're walking from gen to gen, which is slowing overall game progress down. Of course you might get lucky and have it ready when you need it without without any conscious effort. But it's not consistent.
Same with lithe, if you're not near a vaulting location you're SOL, and even if you do come across one, the killer can zone you so you're running straight into a dead zone or corner, forcing you to use half of your speed boost just getting around them.
Dead hard the only requirements was to be injured and in downing distance, which is incidentally always the best time to have a speed boost available. It was far less situational that literally every other exhaustion perk.
There’s a person in this chat complaining about SB and Lithe (Cynwale). And there are other users scattered throughout the forums here complaining about them too. Idk about Reddit but yes killers are complaining about these perks.

Whether you're being sarcastic or not, gen-regress perks are just a necessity at higher-level/against coordinating SWFs
Thank goodness that’s less than 5% of the playerbase. Shouldn’t be something you or like 95% of the killers in this forum will ever need to worry about.

It's kinda funny how many "win chases quickly" I see repeated when, against competent survivors, the duration of the chase is largely based on survivor mistakes, not killer proficiency.
You can't win chases quickly unless the survivor lets you. Unless you're a godlike nurse.
Killers complained quite a lot about healing (speeds, access, all of it) so that was adjusted. But it’s foolish to think that the devs would nerf healing and then also allow killers to heavily manipulate Gen speeds. Doing so would inflate the kill rates too much and believe it or not but the devs do actually want there to be a percentage of survivors who escape the match. The game isn’t a murder simulator.

What are you even on about?
He complained that as Pig he downed someone and they DC’d but if you’re familiar with his post history he admits to tunneling off hook (and just in general) and camping. It stands to reason that he employs these tactics in every game he plays as killer. So my initial point that survivors should group up in SWF to appease both sides was illustrated twofold by this killer main complaining about a solo queue player he presumably tunneled and/or camped (a common behavior as per his own admissions) DCing against him. If that survivor was in a SWF I’m sure his tunneling/camping wouldn’t have been as influential, and it’s unlikely that survivor would have DC’d. So he’d get a match he could enjoy since the DC bothered him and the survivor wouldn’t have to DC against his scummy tactics. Hope this helps! :)

Audience? See exhibit A.
This is an excellent example of why survivors should SWF. It really would satisfy by killers and survivors. :)
-
Idk. Sweaty SWFs are pretty rare for me. I mostly encounter PUGs that are just… idk, they make really brainless plays (they hold W, can’t loop well, sometimes try to hide in plain sight, don’t play altruistically—not that it matters because they can’t really stop me from tunneling). I guess the handful of games where I’m clearly outmatched just pale so drastically in comparison to the games that I dominate, as killer, that I just don’t really feel much need to complain about SWF. Sometimes, though, if I’m like really beating down on survivors I will lay off and just like farm. Cuz tbh it feels a little bad. I used to play solo queue but I stopped. I SWF on occasion but my SWF friends pretty much stopped playing. So killer it is.
-
@pseudechis said:
The real kicker is the thing you are trying to balance for in solo queue you really can’t balance for…. And that is the random nature of PUGs.
You may get four players with completely different ideas of what the game should be, what’s fun, how to play, levels of motivation to play and altruism.
So a team game requiring lots of coordination to excel, is relying on 4 strangers whom can’t directly communicate to work together as a team. Good luck.
This doesn’t get fixed by just buffing the hell out of individual survivors though because then they become unbeatable Uber heroes when they do work together.
Want to enjoy solo queue the first step is to accept that you are at the mercy of random variation amongst team mates.
I feel like survivors should honestly just play SWF. That should please both killers & survivors. Now, survivors gets teams that function well enough to at least get some people out, and killers get the challenge they’re looking for b/c so many of them complain about survivors stinking in chase, doing brainless things, giving up on hook, etc. SWF is the answer.

I know before they said they couldn’t do it because they cannot circumvent console rules by home companies. Sony and PlayStation do not allow gamer tag concealment (for reports of abuse), so DBD cannot override that.

I also don't know why people keep jumping on my saying "Well there are better perks/combos". I'm not making that claim. I can still think a perk has its uses while still acknowledging there are better options.
