Not nerfed enough, especially not in the right direction. It still rewards a Killer who failed the whole game with a strong effect, instead of being changed to a Perk which is stronger the better the Killer did before (e.g. via a Token-System).
Also the dumb "counterplay" of wasting time cleansing Dull Totems is still present, which helps the Killer more than the actual effect because Survivors spend their time cleansing Totems instead of doing the Objective.
-
Without footage hard to tell. But it could be both cheats and your connection failing. If there was nothing suspicious besides that, I would give the benefit of the doubt and guess it was your connection. Because usually Cheaters who cheat that blatantly do much more than just getting up instantly.
Btw. did the Icon of the Survivor change when you downed them? Was it replaced with the "Downed Survivor"-Icon? If no, it was 100% your connection.

I'd take Self-Care over the zero HUD activity for multiple minutes that I've been getting tonight. One player didn't take any action until 2 gens were done. They weren't AFK either. SBMM btw.
Sometimes I wish I could just disable the HUD. I just dont want to see what my teammates are doing because it really affects my mood. Whether it is Self-Caring for a long time, not doing anything or cleansing Dull Totems against a Pentimento-Killer (seriously, I had a Jeff yesterday who kept cleansing Dull Totems against a Pinhead with Pentimento...).
I dont want to see that this Leon is running around between two completed Gens instead of doing a Gen. (And escaping with the least amount of points afterwards...)
@Topic:
Yeah, it makes you really question your sanity to see so many Self-Care players. I also really hate to see people setting up Boons. CoH is not worth the time to set up anymore. Even before the most recent nerf it was annoying that Survivors kept blessing their Boons instead of doing Gens, but now it is just so bad to keep blessing Totems instead of doing the Objective.
-
It would certainly be Meta, but also a bad idea.
Old Ruin was a really badly designed Perk. As already written, it punishes newer Survivors way more than experienced Survivors. Furthermore, it was pure RNG. Someone can get a Gajillion Skill Checks or none for a complete Gen.
And last but not least - it was effortless Slowdown. The Killer had to do nothing to get value from it, unlike reworked Ruin where the Killer had to force people off Gens to get value.
And IMO this version of Ruin was fine. It was only a problem when paired with Undying (1 Ruin is fine, up to 5 Ruins is not fine) and/or Tinkerer (because this removed the effort-part of the Killer, especially when it was a high-mobility Killer). And I think when they nerfed Tinkerer to once per Gen, Ruin was fine.
And IF they wanted to nerf Ruin, just disabling it when a Survivor is dead would have been alright as a Nerf. This almost never happens anyway and if it happens, the Killer will probably not need Ruin.
But the very old Ruin - nah, should never return, however, it would be Meta. (And Killers would complain about the Instructions-Add On...)
-
Yesterday I got tunneled in 1 out of X games. By a Streamer with almost 14k hours. I guess this poor inexperienced Killer had no other choice than tunneling the first hook he got.
However, this would have been fine - but I dont know how many games I played yesterday, but I survived none (not always because of the Killer, one time because of a Meg who opened an Exit Gate to 70% instead of 99% and went into another Corner of the Map to Self Care...You know, you need to tunnel when you face Survivors like this, impossible to win) and in EVERY game at least one Survivor was camped or tunneled. Despite multiple BPS or Cakes from the Survivors.
-
From my experience, the flag usually does not matter. Since you want to move Survivors away from a Loop with the Guard. And it is better for them to just Shift W instead of trying to get the Flag.
-
@Garboface said:
you have to have actual ability and invest time to be good with her. this is not needed for tunnel bots. anyone can return to a hook and decimate solo ques all day.
The time investment and "ability" needed is really overestimated. Yes, you will lose a few games when learning her. And those games will be really embarrassing and you will feel stupid. But once you got the hang of it and got used to her Blinks, she is not really hard to play.
There are Killers who are weaker than her and require more than her to play them good. E.g. Huntress, Billy or Blight.
-
Nurse will never not be the strongest Killer. The Devs nerfed her two times (three if you count her first version as well). And all of them were basically slaps on the wrist. Sure, steps in the right direction, but nothing impactful.
Meanwhile they tried to nerf Engravings a few weeks ago. One of the few good Billy-Add Ons. Meanwhile Nurse stays broken AND got a Mangled-Add On after removing her interaction with Perks which inflict Mangled. All while Nurse not needing Add Ons in the first place.
So yes, she should be weaker. But it wont happen.
-
They said "later this summer", I would assume they will come with a Midchapter-Patch. Usually bigger things like that are not coming when a new Killer is released.
-
@Murgleïs said:
I don’t even remember the last time I was camped or tunneled.
Maybe because you dont play Survivor?
@Topic:
Myself not so much. Maybe 2 out of 10 times? However, another Survivor being camped or tunneled, at least 7 out of 10 times.
-
Because Killer players like to overreact. And funnily enough, the only Perks which were really used for years were new Killer Perks. In every chapter you can be sure that at least one Survivor Perk will be called OP. Sad thing is that even Content Creators usually follow this route with at least one Perk each Chapter.
IMO it would be really sad if Made for This would be nerfed before it hits live, because it seems to be an alternative to Exhaustion-Perks. And for some reason Killers complain about Exhaustion-Perks a lot, but when BHVR offers an Alternative which can drive players away from Exhaustion Perks (personally, I still think Lithe or Sprint Burst are better, so Survivors will prefer those over Made for It), it is also not fine. Just shows that Killers just want Survivors to have super-weak Perks.
But I already think this will be a Reassurance-situation where the Perk will be made basically useless before it hits the Live Servers (remember Reassurance? That Anti-camping Perk which should not work against camping...). Because the Chapter will sell well, the Killer is at least decent.
Good Survivor Perks are nowadays only brought when they are cash-grabs like MoM or CoH. So we can expect the next strong Survivor Perk which will not nerfed from PTB to live when Nicolas Cage comes out. But I have no hopes for Made for It leaving the PTB like that.
-
Nah, this does not have anything to do with it, I am using the free Rift Pass as well.
But the Rift-Fragments are not displayed in the Tome, only in the Rift when you complete a Tome Level. So you might want to keep an eye on it for Level 3 - check where you are before claiming the End Node and then check where you are after claiming it.
Just to make sure since you mentioned "current Rift" - you are doing the most recent Tome as well? The one with Skull Merchant and Doctor?
-
Good thing that this Killer is not weak at all.
-
Did you click on the Rift after getting the End-Node?
I got my Rift Fragments from the Tomes just fine.
-
I mean, they gave Haddie some love.
However, you always have to remember that BHVR is a company which wants to make money. And the creation of a cosmetic costs the same for every character.
And then you have the choice to create a cosmetic for the 3 Adam-Mains or for the thousands of Feng-Mains. Should be an obvious choice.

You mean the same thing Survivors do every time a new Killer launches?
The difference being; they are giving Survivors more genrush while forcing Killers to play slower. Kind of tells you which side the devs favor.
The Devs favor neither side.
And yes, Survivors do the same, however, you here it far more often from Killers here, because the Forum is VERY killer-sided.

Oh boy, it is this time of the year where we pretend that Perks will be OP just to see that nobody runs it.

If you're facing a skully or knight I agree, other killers nah, not really. Most of the times I think is survs fault. I think it is like 80~90% time of 3gen survs fault 20~10% killers holding a 3gen. Maybe I'm wrong with the %, but I've never faced a 3gen holder killer. Same for Pinhead box holding, it was a problem, but I've never faced someone using this strategy
Every Killer can hold a 3-Gen. Skull Merchant and Knight are just better at it, especially Skull Merchant.
But, I have to say, it got better. Mostly new and reworked Maps spawned really disgusting 3-Gens, but they fixed at least the one on Haddonfield. (Before you had 2 fixed Gens in front and inside the Myers House and almost always another Gen close by. Now the house in front of the house is gone or moved to the street and the one in the house moved upstairs... Way better)
-
@illNicola said:
They're ignoring the fact that lots of times the 3gen is survs' fault, because they split bad the map
Nope, not at all. Sure, it can happen. But there are more than enough instances where a Killer just does not leave their 3-Gen the whole game. And there is not really anything you can do about it as Survivor.
-
I have 8400 hours and I ran into less than 20 farming Killers outside of Bloodhunts.
Sometimes AFK-Killers (who have given up) or Killers who do other stuff (e.g. had a Billy on RPD yesterday who somehow managed to go out of the Trial and was chainsawing outside the Map).
But outside of BP-Events, almost no farming Killer.

Yeah I agree buts it's the same side for survivor aswell when it comes to excuses and bias. I personally think the game is very balanced right now. Unfortunately a lot of this forum is just bias towards one side or the other and it's effecting the future of this game.
#bring2018dbdback
Of course it is the same as Survivor. I have seen Survivors who did not know if they played DBD or Minecraft and did not realize that it was their fault that they lost.
However, the thing is that as Survivor you are only 25% of the team and not 100% like when playing Killer. So it can indeed happen as Survivor that you might lose because things are out of your control (if that 3 hour Meg dropped all the Pallets and you have only deadzones left for example). But this should not mean that Survivors are not equally at fault when it comes to "Blame everything except themselves".
-
Because bad Killer players will always be bad. You can make Gens last 3 minutes each and there would be still some who would not manage to 4K every game.
They dont look for excuses in their own gameplay, it is the games fault that they lost. I mean, have you ever seen that Killer Mains say that 4K-Streaks are the sign that the game is imbalanced? Nope. But if they get a 0K in one game, THEN the game is suddenely unplayable for Killer.

less pressure by the killer, do not need 2+ players to try and unhook a survivor
If the Killer is camping, this is true. But this is also the purpose of the change, to make camping less viable and in general weaker.
But it will not change that Survivors, especially Solo, try to get the Unhook.
-
Thats really a stretch. Why should Survivors suddenly become more efficient? Especially against a non-camping Killer?
-
Man, you are really desperate to keep camping in the game. 3 Threads already about the same topic.
-
Deliverance is fine as it is. It is high-risk and high-reward. You can negate a lot of pressure from the Killer if you have Deliverance active and someone else does not need to get off a Gen. But you can also have a useless Perk Slot if you get found first or dont get an Unhook before you get hooked yourself.
You just have to accept that you wont get value out of your perk all the time. If you want to have value from your Perks in every game, you should not play Deliverance.
-
For me, the max I have seen are two P100s in the same Lobby. In general, seeing 5 P100s will probably a "Once in a Lifetime"-experience for quite some time, because at the very least P100-Killers are very rare, simply because most people dont stick to one Killer that much and level up several Killers at the same time. P100-Survivors are more common because they all play the same so people tend to stick to one Character.

Nah. Survivors will abuse it, Killers will point this out, and BHVR will shrug and push it through.
Then, after Survivors have enjoyed easy unhooks and 4-man SWF escapes are through the roof, and the game is hemorrhaging what few Killers remain; BHVR will adjust it to throw Killers a bone, and Survivors will scream that the game is Killer-sided, and Survivors always get nerfed, and Killers are catered too.
How can someone be so bitter and so oblivious at the same time? The Killer-Bubble is really strange.
@Topic:
"The Survivor in chase can get the hooked Survivor off the hook by simply keeping the Killer around."
Yeah, OR a Survivor crouching next to the Hook because they think the Killer will suddenly stop camping will prolong the camping while keeping two Survivors away from Gens this way.

One thing i learned quickly is this community is crazy impatient, so they're smart for not promising too much upfront but instead making changes as they see fit along the way.
"One thing i learned quickly is this community is crazy impatient, so they're smart for not promising too much upfront but instead making changes as they see fit along the way."
This is really important. Because if they talk about something, they have to make super-clear that it might be scrapped in the future. But people in the DBD-Community dont comprehend it that way. If something is written somewhere, it will 100% be released and some even think it would happen in the next patch.
I can totally understand why they dont announce everything anymore and some things get added as a surprise.

I'm looking forward to the video how you defeat a good swf team with hypercofcus and toolboxes
while you to play as freddy
Why should I do a video about it? I almost never face a good SWF with builds like this. Because they are probably not playing in public games and are a myth created by Killers who demand the game to become easier and easier for them.
I am totally fine with losing and that it is mostly on me. E.g. I played against a comp player two days ago. They were Solo and it was only the second time I encountered Comp-People in public games - in 8400 hours. So I doubt that other players go against strong teams all the time.
Said Survivor had over 16k hours btw. (the highest amount I have ever seen in any of my games) and was the only person I never hooked. And why is that? Because they are better than me and it is fine. But I dont make up some BS that Survivors need to be nerfed so that I can win against people who have twice my hours (and I already have a lot of hours).
-
Killers are always saying that the game is a 1v4, but this apparently does not apply when it comes to them camping a Survivor. Because if that gets weaker, there are suddenly no other Survivors anymore.

see how many killer perks have been nerfed and how many survivor perks
and how exactly they were nerfed
while nerfing survivors this coh will now heal you 100% faster
killer nerfs this cob will now regress 3.7% per MINUTE
Maybe stop focussing on one Patch to keep your narrative going. Just look what was possible before and what is possible now when it comes to Survivor-gameplay and you will surely see that Killer is not bad at all in 2023.
-
The thing is, it is impossible to make a perfect solution which works all the time and cannot be abused. I think their solution is decent and I am quite positive about it, even if it has weaknesses. E.g. proxy-camping is still allowed and strong. Furthermore, there wil still be Survivors who decide to not do Gens but crouch near the Hook because the Killer who camped for 90 seconds will surely go away during the last 30 seconds. And those will let the bar move slower.
However, in general it is an improvement because it makes camping weaker (more or less, depending how smart the other 3 Survivors are) while making sure that a Killer does not get punished when the Survivors swarm a Hook and the bar deactivating in Endgame. (Which is debatable why a Killer should deserve the Endgame-Kill when they sucked all game before, but there is not much they can do anyway at this point, so it is fine that the bar is deactivated when all Gens are done)

Survivors get a hud which allows good survivors to play at swf level - killers don't get anything
Killers get eroption nerf - Survivors don't get perk nerfs
killers get full kill of all regress perk genes - survivors get dead hard nerf by 33%( seriously very rarely 1 survivor used dead hard more than 2-3 times per game, and in any case this is an extremely broken perk that was op 6 years in a row)
and also survivors get a heal nerf that will soon remove but not remove boon buff so survivors can heal in 8 seconds
survivors will receive an anti-camp system and bots
at this time, the killers will not receive anything
Constant killer nerfs and survivor buffs lead to this mentality
This post is full of false information:
The Hud does not lift Solos to SWF. Not even close. But at least you now see that your teammates are not efficient.
Survivors dont get Perk Nerfs? Survivors get the majority of Nerfs since the game came out. This cannot be denied.
DH was nerfed quite a lot with the most recent Nerf. The fact that you cannot have DH in your first chase and only get it when the Killer already built pressure is HUGE.
The Healing-Nerf was 100% a Nerf as well. CoH is borderline useless and you should thank every Survivor who still runs the Perk. Medkits got nerfed as well, they are still decent, but not as strong as before. The only thing taken back was the awful Nerf to altruistic healing which never was the problem to begin with since it requires two Survivors not on Gens.
"Constant killer nerfs and survivor buffs lead to this mentality"
Again, in the history of this game Survivors got more Nerfs than Killers. Justified, clearly, but you cannot just ignore that. And well, if you still struggle that much with Killer in 2023, it might not be the Killer role which needs to be improved but your gameplay..

All very good points, and a decent compromise.
I think it definitely needs to be limited in some way. Given that a killer disconnecting instantly ends the game, then at the very least having all survivors DC should instantly end the game too. However this could easily be dropped to 3 or even 2.
Having the bots only exist for a limited time is another option too, like you said 30 seconds. Maybe the bot would have a timer, which would incentivise the killer to go for that bot while they're still in the game in order to score an easy kill.
I can see the game ending with 4 Survivors DCing, but less...Not so much.
But on the other hand, I stopped playing games where 1 Survivor DCs or suicides early quite some time ago, because it does not really make sense. It is unwinnable at this point and I also dont want to farm. (Even if farming just means that the Killer is playing nice and does go for 3 Hooks on every remaining Survivor)
And I dont think I will change it with Bots, because they wont really be helpful, they will mainly be point providers for the Killer.
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
I've been opposed to disconnect bots every time someone brings it up. I'm incredibly disappointed that this is the direction BHVR is going.
- This solution address literally none of the reasons survivors are disconnecting in the first place.
- It will only increase disconnects, since there's now no incentive to 'stay because the team needs you'. The bot fills that role, so people can disconnect and not even be 'a bad teammate' anymore.
- This is highly abusable on both sides. Can't wait until survivors players get blocked in a corner for an hour while the only other player is a bot stuck in a rock or in an infinite loop. And killers will get a new type of bully squad: all 4 disconnect at the start of the match and the killer is forced to either dc or play it an entire bot match.
The only thing they needed to do is have a 30 second delay between disconnect and removing the character's avatar from the world. That solves all of the 'avoiding blood warden', or 'denying adept' situations without having any chance of being abused by anyone.
- "This solution address literally none of the reasons survivors are disconnecting in the first place."
This is the important point. It is just another band-aid. Sure, the Survivors can keep on playing with a Bot (and will lose anyway), the Killer gets more points (so rewarding scummy tactics, yay), but it will not change the core issues WHY people are DCing. Yes, there are people who DC against every Killer when they are downed first and you will never be able to change that.
But other things... BHVR used a Skull Merchant in their Screenshot to show how a Bot looks like, so they are aware that Skull Merchant is a big reason why people DC. However, using the bandaid by providing Bots will not make Skull Merchant in any way enjoyable to play against. And this can be said for many other things.

The survivor objective can be finished in 3-4 minutes by expert players. Meanwhile the killer objective takes 6-8 minutes (barring major survivor malfunctions).
When we look at 9000+ hour streamers playing weak killers you hear things like : I can't take that chase. That's a massive design problem with DBD in that " I can't take that chase" is a phrase that should be deleted from the game before we try to remove face camping.
Most of the maps in DBD are unfair to most of the killers. Otz made a video where has Nurse/Blight with best addons facing the best survivor teams in the world. His conclusion was : DBD is fine when both sides bring the very best.
Where was the best Doctor/Trapper/Michael Myers playing against Hens squad? We all know why it didn't happen : Hens and crew would have flattened the ineffective killers.
There is nobody in the world who could hope to beat Hens crew reliably using a pathetic killer on the extremely unfair maps we have in DBD right now.
-"go for other Survivors. There are 3 more in the Trial."
People said the same thing when one player was abusing infinite windows in 2016. It's as silly to say now as it was back then. Every killer needs to be viable at every loop in the game or certain killers need to be immune from facing those loops.
"The survivor objective can be finished in 3-4 minutes by expert players."
Yeah, I stopped reading there. You dont encounter those players in public games. Otherwise, can we also bring tournament Killers as example and nerf every Killer who plays in public games?

You missed the entire point of what I said just now.
Survivors have multiple layers of tunneling protection that include:
- 10 seconds of borrowed time off the hook
- Free unhook yourself if the killer is camping.
- Extremely powerful perks like Reassurance and Kinship.
Where's the killer protection to prevent the gens from being done in 3-4 minutes? That's not a thing because there is nearly zero consideration for killer when we talk about core game mechanics.
Do you know how you can counter this?
Dont camp and go for other Survivors. There are 3 more in the Trial.

Upstairs Hooks should not be a thing. They are sometimes stronger than Basement Hooks.
Boil Over needs to be reworked. This would solve the problem.

Wait, a 3v1 is better for survivors than 4v1 with one bot as a teammate? How does that logic work?
Bots do sit on gens every second they get. They won't be as good as a player could potentially be but it's still a big improvement.
"Bots do sit on gens every second they get". Ever played custom games with Bots? They play like brand-new Megheads.
There is no difference between a 3v1 or a 4v1 with one Bot. Except that the Killer can get more BPs.

"It’s still an improvement specifically targeted for survivors."
Not really. If they play like the Bots in Custom Games (which is most likely the case) they just give the Killer more points, but wont really be helpful. Once a Survivor DCs it will still be a 3v1, if there is a headless chicken in form of a bot or not, it will not change much.

Also bots are insanely OP with flashlights.
If you lose against Bots, you are 100% the problem and not the Bots.
-
Yeah, not a fan of it. They will just be point-providers for the Killer. If they play like the Bots in custom matches, you wont get much help from them as Survivor, it will still be a 3v1, but the Killer will get more points. Yay.
-
The thing is, neither of those Perks actually help against tunneling. OTR and DH can be negated by the Killer via just swinging after the Unhook. It takes away OTR, the basekit Endurance, potential BT-Endurance and the ability to use DH. This is because all of them resolve around Endurance.
And when it comes to DS, it was laughable against the strongest Killers at 5 seconds. With 3 seconds, it is around 7 meters of distance for the Survivor (since 1,3 seconds are used for the animation). And at this point, it is only a mild inconvenience for the Killer. If you are in a deadzone or dont have a pallet or window VERY close to you, DS does nothing.
I can understand Survivors not using those Perks anymore. (even tho, I see quite a bunch of OTRs)

But you are thinking about this as a person without a hearing issue. If i hear a survivor to my left, i know they are to my left. How is that any different than getting a visual indicator showing that there is a survivor to my left?
This is true, but a pin-point notification would be too much. It would have to be quite vague. Because even while you hear a Survivor on the other side of the wall, you wont know their exact location. However, with sounds being directional in this case, a visual indicator would point to them.
@Coffeecrashing said:

It would be just like the visual terror radius, where you only get visual survivor noise indicator if those noises should be audible. The current way sounds work is unhealthy, because they encourage killers to blast their headphones at dangerous noise levels, just so they can hear more. This game should not be encouraging potential hearing loss, and should instead implement visual survivor noises, so killers can play the game at safe noise levels.
The thing is, if it would be like the visual terror radius, it would be an improvement to having nothing, but it would not be compareable in usefulness to the survivor equivalent.
Because as Survivor, if you are in the Terror Radius, you will start looking around. And with the visual TR players get the information to start looking around. However, this would not really be useful as Killer. If I get a notification that a survivor sound (obviously there are other sounds like Generators as well, but lets not include those) was done nearby, looking around would not give me any more information and probably just be a waste of time.

Could give a faint border glow to a screen edge based on the quadrant a sound comes from (Ignoring the up/down of the camera, and instead focusing on the orientation of the character model), the intensity and opacity of the glow dependent on how loud the sound is, based on distance and a hardcoded max value.
Could make it dark fog instead of a glow. Akin to The Entity "Whispering" being visible, pointing towards something.
Yeah, this would work. But it would be more vague than the information people without hearing issues would be getting, but I think this is the best that can be done without the feature being OP.
Obviously sounds like Generators can be more clear with the indicator (because the Killer can see Gens anyway), but having such a vague indicator that the Killer knows the general direction of the Survivor but not their exact location could work.

What about killer players who have trouble hearing? Being able to locate survivors by sounds, especially injured ones, is a huge part of the game. A similar visual indicator for killers also would not give them information that they don’t already have if they have good hearing ability.
The problem is that you cannot just compare those two because they are not even compareable in the game without any hearing issues.
Terror Radius is not directional while Survivor sounds are directional (which is logical, since they are emitted by the Survivor itself). So if you would get directional queues where a Survivor is, it would be a huge buff and every Killer player would just turn it on instantly, because they get a clear indicator of the exact position of the Survivor.
Sadly I dont think that it is really possible to give Killers such a accessibility feature, except it is either really useless or OP.
