  • Yeah, because the next Survivor-only Paragraph did not have a Perk which was way too strong on release and got nerfed into borderline useless. Oh wait...

  • @Crowman said:

Of course he will have his own Perks. And at least one of them will be very strong and nerfed into the ground sooner or later. Will not be different from Ash or Mikaela.

  • True, but the date/timeframe looks like a Midchapter-Paragraph. And I highly doubt they would put a Killer in a Midchapter-Paragraph.

  • This falls under my "Things I never thought would happen".

I dont care for Nicolas Cage, but he will probably come with a super-strong Perk to give people an incentive to buy a Survivor-only Paragraph.

I mean yeah, it can be a reason but nevertheless if that really was "the" reason why a drop happened at the end nobody knows you know. It could be also a lot of other circumstances which caused a drop as this game released. In general there is always a chance that something like that happens when something new comes out but if that really affects the playerbase for real is written somewhere else.

Elden Ring certainly had some impact on the playerbase of DBD. Obviously not for a long-term for the majority, since only a very small portion of people still play Elden Ring on a daily basis and nothing else.

It also had more impact on Survivors than Killers. E.g. if my one SWF-Friend would not play DBD, I would not play Survivor either and vice-versa. So even if only one person was playing Elden Ring (we both played it), the other would not play DBD. With 4 man-SWFs probably even more impactful.

    @Topic:

Nope. Game will not die, will do fine.

  • I agree partially.

I like that Hags Traps cannot be burned but there is a Basekit-solution for it. Now they just need to delete Hag and I am even more happy.

Aside from that, I think that every Killer should have a very small interaction with Flashlights. Not something like lightburn on Wraith, this was too much. But something else. E.g. I think it was totally fine to lightburn a Nurse or prevent her from Blinking, but a weaker Killer like Wraith should not be impacted by Flashlights this hard.

So instead of removing interactions with Flashlights from every Killer (except for Nemesis), they should have added small interactions with every Killer which can make Flashlights useful against them, but dont impact them as much as lightburn did on Wraith.

Would give Flashlights some love as well, they are way too weak anyway and it would encourage some Survivors to bring Flashlights instead of Medkits or Toolboxes.

Is it currently ban worthy? Like if you send a video of the killer bleeding you out and bming will they get a temp ban for griefing? There's a very clear line between slugging to win and bleeding people out just to be toxic. I've never actually known the answer to this. I feel like people would be less likely to do it if escalating bans existed.

The thing is, it is only considered griefing when you are doing it for a long period of time to the same person. And probably when you do it to everyone involved, you might also get banned, but this would only be a thing if random people would report Killers who grief them.

Because if it happens once to you that you are griefed by something like written in OPs post, you probably wont report it. If the same Killer player does it multiple times, you will more likely report it, because you know them. But if it is a random Killer and they do it to 100 people in 100 games, you can be sure that only a small amount of people would actually report this, because they dont know that this specific player is doing it all the time and reports for just one-time griefing are just a waste for time for everyone.

    @Topic:

There should be a surrender-option, but only in the case that no Survivor has any chance to get up again. E.g. all Survivors slugged, nobody has Unbreakable. This would at least eliminate the cases where a Killer bleeds out the Survivors just out of spite.

However, as long as one Survivor would be able to pick someone or themselves up, the option to concede should not appear. While I dislike slugging for the 4K, it should not be the case that the slugged Survivor can concede earlier to deny a 4K.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

So many times I've thrown a pallet down and appeared on the side he is on and the pallet still goes down. lol

Yes. And you will get smacked into the Pallet you just thrown while being on the other side of it.

    @Topic:

100% agree. Some hits with his Power at Windows or Pallets just look way too BS. And it is a shame because Wesker is a really fun Killer to go against, but once you experience getting smacked against the Pallet you have just thrown or fully vaulting a window to get set back and smashed against it, it instantly sucks out all the fun in this game.

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

It's 2023 and survivors waiting until the last minute to leave still isn't reportable, nor do we have a concede button.

I lose faith in the developers more and more every day.

You can just force them out. And grow some thicker skin if you are not doing that because those evil survivors might be teabagging.

    @Topic:

Dont care for either of it. I find it rather amusing to be honest, because more often than not it just backfires. If a Killer hits me on the Hook or is nodding at me while barely able to catch me, I already won this game and dont care about the outcome.

And if a Survivor teabags and goes down a few seconds later, it is also funny for me. Those are the guys who watch their favorite Survivor Main-Content Creator and think they can act like them, but skip the step of getting good at the game.

So yeah, not really care about it. And not doing it myself either (except for the occasional teabag, but really rare).

Yikes. How long will this still be a thing?

I am just happy she isn't super popular.

I can have fun even with the tunneling and camping, but SM with those games just breaks my energy to play the game.

They can get the free win, i just want to get out of their match the fast as possible, by any means necessary.

Thats the thing - if you get tunneled and/or camped, you can just go to the next game. Against Skull Merchant, you will be stuck for a long time. You might get more BPs in such a game, but you can probably get even more in the next two games, which will be shorter than the one you are playing against a Skull Merchant.

I really cannot blame anyone who wants to get out against a Skull Merchant ASAP.

  • Nah. Killers are already getting more BPs than Survivors anyway. There is not really any point in giving them even more BPs when they beat up some casual SWFs. (which ware far more common than actual good SWFs)

AV already has one hell of a downside, and it’s only strong with AR. Get rid of AR and AV is fine as is.

as for C33, it just needs another downside. For example, make it take an extra 2-3 rush tokens to break a pallet.

The Downside of Adrenaline Vial is a joke compared to all those Buffs it gives. The Downside was significant when they first introduced it, making it his worst Add-On. But since its buff it is one of the best Add-Ons and not only good when paired with Alchemist RIng.

the only reason why people think that base blight is fine is because the think the addons are the problem, in the moment the addons are nerf people will see that blight is too good at everything like nurse

IMO it is the right way to do the obvious stuff first. And it is obvious that Blight has a bunch of Add Ons which are just too strong. So nerfing them should be the first thing to do. If Blight is still too strong afterwards, they can look into basekit-changes. Personally, I would say if they nerf the problematic Add Ons (and those are a bunch, probably at least 5) Blight should be fine.

However, Blight is protected by the Devs. Meanwhile they attempted to nerf Engravings...

Wesker's slowdown isn't passive, he has to actively attack players with his power to apply the slowdown effect. Pinhead's slowdown is just a timer in the background that the survivors have to reset occasionally.

It is passive. Because they search for the Cases and spray themselves. That you have to use your power should not be any problem at all, unless you want to play Wesker as an M1-Killer. And if you want to do this...well.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

I was thinking maybe it is also because of gen kicking meta being dead, so they play him for extra slowdown with the box.

I dont know, I would play Wesker for this who is stronger and also has passive Slowdown.

  • Yeah, I also encounter Pinhead almost once per day. I did not check their Prestige Level, but maybe those are players who want to have Deadlock and Gift of Pain on their other Killers, so they are prestiging Pinhead.

  • Did you run a lot of Slowdown before the most recent patch? Especially Call of Brine and Overcharge?

If this is the case - well, you need to adapt. You got into an MMR-Range where you simply dont belong, but ended up there because your use of Slowdown enabled you to win games which you only won because you prolonged them enough to drain all the ressources of the Survivors. And you did not drain those because you played well, but because it took so long for them to complete Gens.

You will not be the only Killer player who has this issue right now, many got carried by Slowdowns, but think that they are actually good if they win a game in 20 minutes.

IF MMR is working correctly (haha), then you should get more reasonable opponents after some more games.

  • Deadlock should have been nerfed in 6.1.0 already. I dont really understand why they kept the Perk as it is, especially when they increased the base Gen time to 90 seconds.

The sad thing is that the effect in itself is probably fine, but it buffs Camping too much. Getting all Gens done in 2 minutes when one Survivor is camped is already not really possible, doing that with Deadlock adding additional 30 seconds per Gen makes it way to rewarding for a camping Killer who does not even put any effort in it to get value from the Perk.

Killers complained quite a lot about healing (speeds, access, all of it) so that was adjusted. But it’s foolish to think that the devs would nerf healing and then also allow killers to heavily manipulate Gen speeds. Doing so would inflate the kill rates too much and believe it or not but the devs do actually want there to be a percentage of survivors who escape the match. The game isn’t a murder simulator.

This. And it is baffling that people dont understand it (or dont want to understand it).

The Devs mainly nerfed 3-Gens (which are still possible btw). Because the main playstyle in a 3-Gen was - hit the Survivor, they need to run away. Kick the Gen with Overcharge/Call of Brine. Survivors needs to heal, Gen regresses quite a bit. Repeat. And with healing nerfed (which is 100% the case, even if they backed down on the altruistic healing), it would mean even more Regression if they would not have touched Call of Brine and Overcharge.

And it is not like there are no Slowdown-Options anymore. Both for Gens and for healing there are still more than decent Slowdown-Options.

Last but not least - the best way to create slowdown is to be actually good at the game. And currently we see a lot of Killer players who got carried by Slowdown way too much and who need to adapt or lose some MMR.

  • Yes, Matchmaking is the biggest (but not the only) problem of SoloQ. And this is also why SWF is better than SoloQ - you can "manipulate" the Matchmaking in a way that you can make sure that all of your teammates are decent. With SoloQ and the matchmaking being so lenient you get terrible matches.

Good for you if you can consistently remember that especially after factoring in DCs, Surv suiciding to 2nd stage, or Surv who have been hooked once or twice already but not on a Scourge hook previously.

Sticking small post its on my monitor next to the Survivor’s icon fixes that issue but it’s kinda sad to be relying on that, just like using a Sandglass to wait out old Decisive Strike.

It is really not that hard.

    @Topic:

Call of Brine and Overcharge were mainly nerfed due to their efficiency in 3-Gen-Setups. You cannot nerf healing (and it was nerfed, even when the Devs reverted the change to altruistic healing) and leave the 3-Gen-Perks alone, this would just have buffed this playstyle.

Pain Resonance is better than some people might think. The Buff to 25% was justified and helped the Perk. Before the Nerf you got more Regression after your 7th hook (7x15 = 105 compared to 4x 25 = 100). And at this point, you probably won anyway.

I wonder if there would be a way to open up the game for modding but only for non-licensed characters

Does not even matter. Too much trouble.

Then I would mod a Killer to look like Mario. And then you have Mario killing Survivors. Nintendo will probably not be happy. So even if you limit it to original Characters (which would need to be done 100%), there can still be issues with other companies.

    @Topic:

Modding will probably not be a thing. You would need to remove licensed Characters (as said) and Killer Powers, because it would not really be good that you would be able to highlight Trapper or Hag Traps for example.

But then you have cosmetics - yes, there have been really cool cosmetics which were added in the past when modding was possible. However, there is always the chance (and it will 100% happen) that people will use it as an advantage. Like making Deathslingers gun 500m long so that you know all the time where he is aiming. Or making every Survivor-cosmetic in bright pink so that you can see people from across the Map. Or make every headpiece into a big pole which does the same.

We are talking about the community who made their game look like ######### with stretched res and are still doing that with filters to get a competitive advantage. This will surely happen with modding as well.

  • None of them really need Buffs. Skull Merchant and Knight could need some changes for more healthy gameplay.

But when it comes to their strength alone, none of them are currently in need of Buffs. Other Killers (Trapper, Clown, Myers) are more in need for some changes.

Y'all really got to stop saying "holding the game hostage" in relation to someone just doing a 3 gen. Like I agree that being able to hold one quite that hard is not great overall, but taking a game hostage has a very specific meaning in this game. It's not as if the can't be ended normally even if it drawn out longer than normal. Not every SM is likely just trying to time out the game and do absolutely nothing else but force you stay in the game.

Defending a 3-gen to the point of never even slightly committing to a chase is holding the game hostage. And this is what quite a bunch of Skull Merchants (and Knights) do.

  • If they fix it in the same patch that the Killer cannot hold the game hostage for an hour, sure. Deleting Skull Merchant should do the trick.

Dead Hard went from being the #1 exhaustion perk, to being the #1 exhaustion perk. That's hardly meaningful, and the perk just replaced one awful problem (invulnerable dash) with another awful problem (endurance that tanks a hit and gives a speed burst).

Which exhaustion perk do you think, a month ago, was more popular than dead hard? Are you really trying to tell us that maybe lithe was more popular, and there's just no way on earth to know because we don't have official stats?

That a Perk is used much after a Nerf does not mean it was not nerfed, lol.

The real problem is that (almost) everyone agrees her power is obnoxious and unfun, but nobody really agrees on any ideas how to fix her without making her literally the weakest killer in the game.

    What if...

    • Her drones now have a vertical height in which they can expose survivors, from the top of the drone to the floor.
    • She now starts with 6 drones, but loses 1 drone for every generator completed

This way, breaking 3 gens will still take some teamwork but won't be as much of a nightmare...

The problem is that her current power is probably not fixable unless you want her to be way too weak or way too strong.

Regarding your ideas - the vertical height I dont know about. This is something which really should be tested.

However, the number of Drones decreasing during the trial might sound good on paper. However, it has two Flaws: First of all, she can still 3gen. Not every 3gen is Survivors messing up, if the Killer decides to 3gen from the start (and Skull Merchant is very good at it), there is not much the Survivors can do. They can complete Gens to reduce her drone-count, but they would create a 3gen. Or, they can 99 those Gens, but her drones would stay the same.

Furthermore, you woul make her weaker while she is basically already losing the game. Does not sound right.

  • I fully agree. Skull Merchant is the worst I have ever felt when going against a Killer. Maybe Release-Legion with Moonwalking and/or Mixtape was the same, but nothing came close to Skull Merchant.

She is also not fun to play for me, because there is not really an interaction with Survivors when using her power. The Skull Merchant interacts with the Drones and the Survivors do the same, but there is no direct interaction (aside from the standard chase). This is very boring.

Have said it for weeks and first time I have said this about a Killer - but they should just killswitch her, rework her completely and then re-release her with an option to get a refund for those who dont want to play with the new Kit anymore.

  • @Crowman said:

Saying Nurse has a low skill ceiling is pretty deceptive when her skill floor is the highest in the game. Like sure mastering a nurse is easier than mastering killers like Blight and Artist, but she's still a harder killer to play than both of them.

The Skill Ceiling of Artist and especially Blight is way higher than the skill ceiling of Nurse. In general, the difficulty of Nurse is really overexaggerated.

There are so many Killers which are weaker than Nurse but have a higher skill ceiling. And those get more Nerfs in general and those are more impactful than the slaps on the wrist which Nurse received in both her Nerfs.

  • Did you run Overcharge and/or Call of Brine very frequently before the patch?

  • This is a common problem with new and reworked maps. They almost all the time spawn a strong 3-gen. Not surprised that it happened with that Map Rework as well.

  • We had a Patch were Flashlights got slightly nerfed and Medkits got quite heavily nerfed. Maps and Keys are already weak.

The BNP is basically the only strong thing left in the Survivor-Bloodweb.

  • Give it a week or two and the Forums will be full of Lithe- and Sprint Burst-complaints.

Neither of them need to be nerfed IMO. Even tho I hate to go against Sprint Burst.

  • @Pulsar said:

That seems like my average Solo Q game, yeah.

It's either that or nobody gets hooked. There's zero in-between.

Because DBD is a game of snowballing. It can go wrong for either side and when it does, it snowballs pretty fast.

even tho, IMO those are outliers. It does not happen frequently that a Killer gets below 3 Hooks and all Gens are done or that no Gen is done and the Killer gets a 4K. (Which still does not mean that both sides come close to winning, but a complete demolition of the other side is not happening often. And I would blame MMR on this over anything else, because sometimes you just get those games where a 3 hour Bill pairs against a 8k hours-Killer or vice-versa...)

  • Yes, be happy. Because people who use Boons (even before it was nerfed in the most recent patch) are the reason you win games as Killer, since they are very, very inefficient. Even more now.

And while it might take 8 seconds (for 5 seconds you need more than just CoH, 5 seconds is 3 times as fast, not just doubled healing Speed like CoH provides) there are two Survivors doing it, so two Survivors are not on a Gen and took their time to go into the Boon-Area and heal.

  • @squbax said:

I do not think she is unplayable, however as soon as I realized the visual terror radious can detect lullabys I turn that on, if I can get an advantage out of it would be dumb to not use it.

The advantage is so minor if you have no trouble hearing it normally, it is not worth the time to go into the settings, even if it just takes 3 seconds.

  • How long did you wait between setting up your PC and starting DBD?

Because when I got my current PC, I had very bad internet for the first one or two days, simply because the PC was still downloading Updates.

Have you already checked if something is getting downloaded? Because usually a new PC and/or new Hardware should not be responsible for high Ping.

  • Really bad idea.

As others have said, Killer is the weakest in the early game and becomes stronger during the game, because the Killer is able to build up pressure by forcing Survivors into altruistic actions. This is why the first Gen(s) are usually the fastest and the last Gen is probably slower than the 4 Gens before it.

So making the Killer weaker in the early game does not really make sense.

Furthermore, it would be very boring for the Survivor. I dont want to lie around for almost 2 minutes before I get picked up. And I want to unhook people, because this grants way more BPs than healing someone from the ground.

And last but not least - many Perks which can be useful in the early game will be useless. E.g. every Hook-Perk or Perks like Thrilling Tremors. Healthy Perks. E.g. my Billy-Build includes BBQ and Lethal Pursuer, when I cannot hook the Survivor, both Perks are pointless.

  • @woundcowboy said:

Sadly, many survivors here really do feel that they should be able to beat someone who is better and more experienced.

Killers think the same. If the Survivors are better than them, they demand the game to be changed so that they have so much advantage that they can beat those Survivors.

Both sides do it. And it is stupid on both sides.

  • Why should she not be playable?

Whenever a topic comes up about the visual Terror Radius it always seems like people forget that the vast majority of players does not need this feature anyway so Sadako (and other Killers) will be exactly the same for them and the Sadako-Player will not notice any difference.

  • Be happy for every Survivor who brings CoH and wastes time off Gens. There will be plentey who will still do that.

Or, you can still try to blame your losses on SWF and CoH. Which you will do anyway.

  • I would agree on those except for Wraith. You can hear him breath and there is also some "whooosh" sound when he uncloaks somewhat near you, so if you hear that but not the Bell you know that he has the Iri Add On and can look out more.

Hard agree on Blight, but BHVR seems to love him so much that he can only get Buffs but no Nerfs. Basically, every Killer Add-On-Nerf is a joke as long as Blight keeps his many broken Add-Ons.

Huntress - I agree that they should have done a different approach to Iri Head than just capping it at 1. The Add-On is equally boring and strong when she just comes close and throws at you in close range, 0 skill needed. I really wish they would have just put a range requirement to the Instadown and dont hard cap it at 1. Would be more interesting and fair.

Myers - you dont see many complaints about it, but this is one of his Add-Ons that needs to go. However, the reason why you dont see complaints is because you dont see many Myers-players and he is fairly weak (which is one of the reasons why he is so rare). They should really give him some love, remove his Add-Ons which are too strong (mainly unlimited Tier 3 and Tombstone Piece) and buff him in other aspects. He is so outdated, when I started playing he was considered an A-Tier Killer, nowadays people rank him as one of the weakest Killers.

  • There will always be cheaters in games. You cannot "fix" this.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3401800#Comment_3401800

Let me ask you a question here, and it is a simple 1 or 2 word answer.

Do you think this game should be balance around average skilled players, or top tier players?

"Match them against the top killer in the world, and the match will likely go similar. Even in the video, they specifically went out of their way to find other top tier players."

    And? Who cares?

Comparing comp DBD to public matches is just wrong, those are basically two different games. If the best Killer player in the world loses against this team, it does not matter. If they win it does not matter either.

Since almost every player (except for a very, very small amount of people) in this game will never encounter any of those teams or Killers in public games.

  • Yeah, I think she is quite boring to play. Exciting when you learn her and see that you get better with her, but once you play her somewhat well, it feels just boring and effortless.

But I also played way too much Nurse, I use to play her to gain BPs, since you can play her without using Add Ons (I dont like to use Add Ons on one Killer to farm BP for another). And I played her quite a lot when I prestiged Knight because I really dont like to play him.

So might just be too much Nurse for me, but I prefer M1-Killers overall. They also feel more rewarding than Nurse.

  • Since Bloodlust is a huge handholding mechanic and used in instances where it is clearly not needed, yes. In the end, Killers should also be for it, since they are also saying that mistakes should be punished. And Whiffing a hit is clearly a mistake.

Ideally Bloodlust is removed completely (with Maps being balanced with a lot of fair and unsafe Pallets and only very, very few safe Pallets which need to be kicked immediatly), but given that the Devs even buffed Bloodlust in 6.1.0, it will not happen.

  • "Also let me be clear that this isn't meant to flat out nerf or buff scourge hooks, just to make them more interesting and consistent is all."

It would be just a buff for scourge Hooks and would not make them more interesting at all. Just removing the RNG entirely, which would make them more consistent, but not more interesting.

IMO Scourge Hooks are fine currently. Even when 4 are random, it get value out of them most of the time. Yes, it can happen that you cannot find a scourge hook, this is bad luck but more of an outlier.

And well, your idea would not fix anything for scourge Hooks (aside from making them guaranteed). A Killer would still probably just camp that hook because it is a Scourge Hook and they will get value out of their Perks with it.

Yeah, after you lost your first 5 games you will not really find her hard to play anymore.
