  • When comparing it with the other original Anniversary-Chapter, I think it falls a bit behind Roots of Dread. But mainly because this one was really unique with a non-humanoid Killer for the first time.

But when it comes to the actual parts of it, I think it is better than Roots of Dread. The Map is certainly better than Garden of Joy. IMO Singularity is also stronger than Dredge (even tho both are good Killers in my opinion) and Gabriel is a better Survivor than Haddie, mainly because his Perks are better with Made for This being Meta, while Haddie had 3 Perks which are not really good.

I also think that the main criticism comes with two points (at least in this forum):

    • Survivors got an actually good Perk for once
    • Singularity is harder to pick up than the average Killer Main wants to invest time into

People are still overreacting over Made for This - while it is a decent Perk, I dont see it more often than Exhaustion-Perks, which shows for me that it is not OP. If it would be OP, people would change their Loadouts. Whenever I play Survivor I am mostly the only one using it, when I play Killer I see at max 1 oder 2 Survivors bringing it. If it would be the new OP-Perk people claim, you would see it more often.

Singularity is a good Killer. But IMO he is weaker than Killers like Wesker (who are stronger and in general more fun to play) or Nurse (which is stronger), while being harder to play than those Killers. You need to put in some effort to get decent results and there are simply Killers where you dont need to put that much effort into learning them with better results (e.g. Nurse) and then there are Killers who are weaker, but way easier to play and still good enough to 4K most of the time against the majority of Survivors.

And the Killer being quite rare is not really a point IMO. It is not Twins-Level of rarity and we now have 32 Killers, which means that on average you will not encounter every Killer as often as you used to a few years ago.

tl;dr: Overall I like it and I think after Knight and Skull Merchant, it is 100% a big improvement.

  • Not really interested in it. But whenever someone brings Comp DBD into a discussion about Public DBD, they disqualify themselves from that discussion. They are basically different games and whoever thinks that a comp match proves that something in DBD is imbalanced is simply wrong.

  • Overdramatic to compare all these things to Made for This. The only time where it is problematic is when it is paired with Hope in Endgame and this is mostly due to Hope.

Other than that, I have not struggled against it so far. And when I saw Killers struggling, it was either of those two:

    • The Killer itself is not that great to begin with
    • The Killer player was just not good.

Both are not the fault of Made for this. If a Deathslinger chases me while I am at 103% and struggles because he is bad with his power, does not mean that Made for This is OP (as said Deathslinger claimed. Not hitting a single shot in 2 Gens of Chase is not my Perk being OP).

And for the first point - yes, Killers without a Chase Power usually struggle against it. But nerfing Made for This would not really change this. A bad Killer concept will be a bad Killer concept, it is not like Killers like Trapper were Top Tier before MFT and then are now F Tier because of it.

  • Go against a real efficient team - you will see 4 Gens pop without seeing Discordance. But the fun thing is, people dont go against those teams at all. But think they do, because they lose.

Imagine selecting the random challenge, loading into the game and seeing No Mither / Self Care / Sprint Burst / Lithe

In my first game with this random Perk Thing I got No Mither. And spawned in with Blood Orbs escaping from my body.

    We lost this game.

I wonder if there is a specific part of the community, group, or persons behind that mindset being so prominent though. Since Ive seen a spark in it recently.

It is not really a recent thing. When I started playing people were blaming their losses mostly on SWFs. Some of the more vocal Killer Main Streamers (I wont name anyone, but most people might have a grasp..) are the same, always thinking that they verse the Top Survivors and always versing SWFs.

This is even more funny when I consider that I faced the same people like one of those Streamers (before Dedicated Servers). And even went against this Streamer - and whenever they were losing, it was due to SWF. So either the people played Solo in my games and SWF in their games OR they were looking for some excuse.

So yeah, it is not really a recent thing that SWF gets blamed for losing. Because for some reason some Killers are not able to reflect on their mistakes and think that they might not have played that well. Is it the huge amount of Whiffs with the M2? Or the terrible sense of gameplay and even letting the game go to 0 Hooks with so many Gens remaining? (aka not switching targets and stuff like that). Nope, must be SWF.

  • @Perpendicular said:

Have you tried to improve instead of just complaining? It’s actually quite easy as killer right now especially with this event. If you show some gameplay you can get some tips.

    We dont do this here.

  • Yeah. Usually I am more annoyed at my teammates not doing Gens while I get facecamped.

But it is different during events. Because during events you get some more of those facecampers, often with names like "No BP for U" or similar stuff. People who really just play to be annoying. And I dont really know what kind of person you are when you can afford to spend your freetime just to annoy other people in a videogame. Only that they probably have a lot of freetime to do that...

I also see an increase in the use of Franklins Demise during events. Which lets me not even bring the Event Items I spend BPs on.

So yeah, it is mostly people who queue up just to ruin the experience for others. And those increase during events. Does not help that the Devs did a few steps backwards with this event compared to the previous once. Which is a shame.

All of your problems are mmr issue.

Just rank up then all of your problems with be solved expect the top tier killer one.

Thats the problem - ranking up is difficult when you need to escape. Which is a team effort.

  • Yeaaah... Blaming Made for This for a Meme-Build being bad is not really the way to go. I know that Killers are currently trying to get it nerfed, but this is a bit too much.

Scratched Mirror Myers was never really viable outside of an indoor map. And even then you are pretty much limited to only Lerys, because even Midwich with fairly unsafe Pallets will be a challenge for Mirror Myers, because those Pallets become quite safe against him.

Sure, Made for This makes it worse, since the Speed Difference is even lower (and this is already the thing that makes it somewhat of a Meme). But you dont chase with Scratched Mirror anyway, you ambush people and try to cut them off when they cannot see you. Which means that the bigger part in you having a really bad game is most likely the Map, because despite the Rework, sneaking up as Myers (who is like 5 meters tall) is not really possible.

So it is more that a Meme-Build on a bad map for it not working and Made for This making the already bad combination even worse. But Made for This is not the main culprit why I did not work out.

And this not only with the license holders of Stranger Things, probably every potential license holder will think twice to collab with BHVR if they try to sue a former partner.

Then they can nerf him a bit if they overbuff him, at this point they are probably just going to do number tweaks. Also people are both learning how to play as him and against him, and will increase at the same rate. So just because people aren't as good at him now doesn't mean anything, because when they get better, survivors will get better at countering it.

Cant wait for the Tantrum when they nerf overbuffed stuff. Will be as easily accepted like other overbuffed things which got nerfed...

I think it's funny that 3% is exact number on c33 and that is very noticeable as well.

To be fair an Add-On "costs" way less than a Perk. Blight can run this Add-On and still has 4 Perks available.

A Survivor who uses Made for This can only equip 3 other Perks while having a Perk which prevents (or at least strongly discourages) them from using almost all Exhaustion-Perks and only works half of the time.

Let alone that the extra effect of C33 is way better.

They wanted to give PHead a way to give condemn since once survivors know it's PHead they will avoid or crouch walk to not get the condemn status. It also made sense his M2 would do it since he shoots out the se metal and barbed wire......what they did was a knee jerk reaction (which they said they NEVER DO AGAIN) and totally scrapped the idea instead of adjusting it so It could work but not be oppressive....making it so Survivors at hooks and being unhooked were immune to condemn for the duration of the unhook

To be honest, they did the right thing to revert it. They wanted to give him more ways to inflict torment, but I guess changing more than just giving him Torment on Punishment-Hits would have been to much to do before live release, so they reverted it.

And if I remember correctly their wording indicated that it might still be possible that Punishment inflicts Torment in the future - but with some more tweaks.

(Usually they only have a few days to make changes before Live Release)

  • Are you sure it was Jolt and not Eruption? They both roughly regress the same amount (10% Eruption, 8% Jolt), but Eruption makes Survivors scream.

Yes because swf aren't famous for abusing things that break the game right? We will talk after a month or two, and let's see if this combo will be abused or not. In my opinion will be abused, but maybe I'm wrong

If you throw in buzzwords like "SWF" or "abuse" it does not really make it better.

I can guarantee you that 99% of Survivors do not bother to use such Perk Combinations. Most players just want to play the game. Some fancy YT-videos dont change that.

110 killers aren’t the ones I feel are hurt the most by this. They have some way to hit you from a distance, so they can make some progress. Hag and Trickster will still be weaker because of it, but not too bad.

The killers I think will be hurt the most by this are the 115 M1 killers like Myers, Trapper, and Sadako. And THIS is where the problem with this perk lies. It hinders the already weak killers while having next to next impact on the best killers like Nurse or Blight. 3% against Nurse is nothing, but 3% against Sadako is game changing. If a perk makes weak killers weaker but doesn’t effect the strongest, then it isn’t healthy for the game.

This is not a problem of the Perk, this is a problem of the respective Killers.

You can have Made for This or remove it - but Myers and Trapper will always be some of the weakest Killers. It is not the Perk which makes them weak. BHVR should not nerf Perks because they are hard for Killers like Trapper or Myers. This would be really lazy balancing instead of taking the time to work on the Killers in question.

(But even if, Trapper will never be as strong as other Killers, because he will always be that Killer who takes a lot of time to trap an area)

If the game forces me to carry those perks, I go directly to another game called: Defend the Generators with 10000 anti-gens perks.

But no, I want to play with other perks, but it's not possible.

It is possible to play with other Perks. It is also possible to win games while using other Perks. It is your decision.

And well, I hope you are not one of those persons who tell Survivors to equip Anti-Tunnel Perks.

  • I think it is fine. Franklins/Hoarder on Pinhead should have not been a thing anyway. And they nerfed good Add Ons to keep it in the game because Killers were begging to not remove the interaction.

And for other Killers, it does not really matter.

Survivors could see if their team mate was wounded and chased and decide either to risk it and continue working or try to wait a bit and let eruption trigger, avoid incapacitation and continue to repair it. But I guess when there's something that requires to think for more than few seconds is too oppressing and inconvenient and thus has no place in this game anymore.

Yeah, but once a Survivor gets injured it would be stupid to let go of the Gen until they are downed. As long as you are not in Discord with that person you will not do any progress while avoiding Eruption. Which is also a win for the Killer.

You are basically saying that to avoid being unable to repair Gens Survivors should...not repair Gens. (I mean, really, this is such a stretch, you must be the tallest person in the world...)

You can make an argument that this would have worked against Nurse. Because you can let go when she blinks, since you will have a very short timeframe where you can let go before she hits after a Blink. However, with Skill Checks randomly popping up when Survivors let go off gens (which is quite common), you would probably rather regress your Gen to 0 via auto-failed Skill Checks than anything else.

  • @PotatoPotahto said:

You provided zero arguments on why it is not a problem for 110% killers.

110% Killers have the lower movement speed because they have abilities which make up for it. So they probably should be the least affected by Made for This. (Otherwise you can say that Nurse gets weaker, because Survivors are now even faster compared to her... You know that it is a silly argument, but it is not that different for 110% Killers)

Any old regression perk was good against clueless and careless survivors. Saying Corrupt was an A tier makes me question what kind of survivors were struggling or having any sort of inconvenience caused by this perk in the first place.

Overcharge and Brine were not passive because they required a kick on the gen. Both could be removed by a tap and a skill check the moment killer left the kicked gen. Only very few killers could benefit from this combo and only because they could either return back quickly or create something that would scare inexperienced survivors away.

Eruption was pretty fair perk as it kept the entire gen-kick meta alive and rewarded killer for tagging gens and participating in chases in hope for a fast down. Unfortunately survivors were too entitled to learn how to deal with it, even after HUD was introduced which was a direct nerf to the perk. When it was ''reworked'' the entire meta started to crumble and with final nerf of Overcharge and Brine combo the gen kick meta has died.

What we have now ( if I may even call it meta ) is pure hunter that involves Jolt, PR and PGTW for a slowdown. The problem with these is there's always a chance you end being unable to use any of these perks for various reasons, which means you end up with no gen regression whatsoever. Those lucky games where survivors are potatoes should not be taken into account yet they are still used as an example by people who state that the current gen regression and killer perk health is fine and doesn't require any attention from devs when in reality everything is much worse and new proper form of regression has to be introduced.

"even after HUD was introduced which was a direct nerf to the perk."

What did the HUD to Eruption? Or do you expect Survivors to stop working on Gens whenever another Survivor is in Chase?

  • @HugTheHag said:

Now, to take advantage of that and slow down a little bit in their releases and taking the time to fix what needs fixing instead of pumping out chapters one after the other...

We already have so many survivors and killers, and a ton of perks no one uses. They should take a few months to focus on QoL, balance and reworks.

    Not gonna happen.

They could easily go to 3 new Chapters per year and nobody would even complain. (Granted, if they make double fail like Knight followed by Skull Merchant it would be even longer to wait for a decent chapter, but that would be the only real negative)

And IMO this is needed. Because especially the Winter Chapter is usually one of the worst and most-bugged Chapters they release.

Yes, you're right, repair a gen in 30 seconds, heal in seven seconds, have several basekit bonus, 90% of the maps on the survivor side, are indeed difficult task to accomplish

Sure the casual SoloQ player is just dead meat, a semi decent SWF team can beat almost any C tier killer because BHVR refuse to rework/fix those killers, a good SWF team can win almost any match without much effort simply because the insane bonuses and coordination

So what left ?Oh tunneling and camping and 3 gen but guess what ? BHVR is coming to rescue the poor survivors

In a game i had yesterday, a group of survivor in the post game chat, were amazed and they were complain about how strong Scavenger is. THEY were complain about their own OP perk ( and yes, ineed it is an OP perk )

But let's pretend killers are just crybabies , there are no balance issues, maps are fair and equal and keep going until the queue time will hit again 10 minutes because no one will play as killer anymore

If you are good as Killer, Survivors will not have much time to do the easy tasks like repairing Gens. If you are good enough to force them into nearly constant altruistic actions, Gens will be very slow.

Bloodlust was only buffed for the timer on bloodlust 2. It still doesn't change the fact that if you are using bloodlust 2 or 3 to down the survivor consistently, you already lost the game. Bloodlust is a bandaid for stupid maps because without it, the house in garden of joy would unironically be an infinite. I'd be all for getting rid of it, if they fixed the stupid things on some maps, as well as doing something to address survivors who "hold w" against m1 killers like trapper.

Can we stop pretending that Bloodlust is not a horrible concept?

The 1v1 (which is also important, you cannot ignore the 1v1) is miserable due to Bloodlust, because Killers turn fair Loops (where they can mindgame) into unfair ones due to Speedboosts.

Furthermore, you wont lose instantly when you reach Bloodlust 2. At least not against inefficient Survivors. And 95% of the Survivor playerbase are not efficient enough.

  • Everything which is not "Killer is so hard, Survivors only get Buffs, Killers only get Nerfs" is a "weird take" in this forum.

  • Yesterday roughly half of the Killers I faced were Singularities.

But yeah, this Killer is not easy to play, quite demanding. But this was already obvious on the PTB. But there are easier Killers who are stronger than them, this is for sure. (Not that Singularity is weak)

Agree, you have to show some good killer gameplay in order to get value, fully agree with you

Can we have the same for survivors too now or 6% gen speed repair just because you're in game is enough as "good gameplay"? I mean as killer i have to work hard to chase, hook, prevent gens to pop in 30 seconds, i'm sure sitting in front of a gen pressing one button while you have tons of bonuses is a measure of good gameplay as well right ?

Thats the thing - your job as Killer is to prevent Survivors from having the "press M1 until a Gen is done"-gameplay. If you put no pressure on them, it is easy for them, since everyone can repair Gens.

If you pressure them, they need to be good to have a (better) chance of escaping.

Pretending that Survivor is easy only works when the Killer is bad.

MMR has never settled or worked properly since SBMM was implemented. Games as killer are 45% all god survivors, 45% all baby survivors, and 10% matched properly.

MMR works. However, only when the community lets it work. If you have a short queue time, you will have a decent balanced match. If your queue time is longer, you will have a mismatch because the system favors queue times over balance. Which will result in unbalanced matches. (e.g. I can have the number 2 in Blight-Rush Hits in one game as Killer and then a Piggy who does not know if she is playing DBD or Minecraft in the next game)

The biggest problem of MMR is probably lobbydoding and the respective backfill which ensures that there is a Killer or Survivor in the game ASAP after one of the former dodged the lobby. To say it easy - you can have a lobby with a 5k hour Killer and multiple 2k hour-Survivors and it would be balanced. Once the Killer dodges the lobby, it will be filled as fast as possible and then there is the poor 10 hour Clown-Main in this Lobby.

Obviously the system is flawed in its roots because it factors Kills and Escapes, which does not really make sense. But IMO it is impossible to have an actual system for DBD which factors in everything. Because there is way too much which would need to be considered (Map, Map Variation, Perks, Items, Add Ons, RNG and way more things). Overall, Ranks with old Rank Reset (where you went from 1 to 11 or so during Rank Reset) was way better. But since Killers also wanted a system which lets them learn Killers (which indeed works) it was changed.

However, one aspect that seems to work really good is that if you dont play a Killer for a long amount of time your MMR will go down. I played Trapper a few days ago for the first time in months and the Survivors I got were not strong at all. However, it was not fair either, because just because I did not play Trapper for months does not mean I forgot how the game works.

So.. we are just going to read this post and pretend that years of survivors complaining about every possible playstyle imaginable didn't get ALL the meta killer perks nerfed over the past 2 years?

    Yikes.

I read way more complaints about Survivor things in this forum. This forum is way more killer-sided than survivor-sided.

And yes, some things were changed. Often enough after the Devs overbuffed them (looking at Eruption, CoB, Overcharge for example). Or simply because the game got easier for Killers over time and some things were not really acceptable anymore.

Or because they were actually unhealthy things which got nerfed. E.g. old Ruin (which wasnt really a nerf, more a Rework which still kept it strong until they nerfed it in 6.1.0 to reduce the pickrate) or old Undying.

And yet you don't seems to be explaining how you thinks a perk that gives free distance pretty much no matter what and also works in any loops unlike dead hard isn't strong?

I don't care how you "understand" this forum, I'm just asking why you thought it isn't strong, and I'm not asking for perk combination, I'm asking for this perk alone.

The only thing they have in common is that they give distance. However, Made for This is far weaker in giving distance than old DH. And it is certainly not worth to run it over Sprint Burst or Lithe which are both more effective AND easier to use.

Made for This will have a high pickrate for now because people are trying it out and so many call it OP. Then they realize that it is not really that OP and go back to their original Loadouts. It will probably find use for people who did not run Exhaustion-Perks, but I have to say that I am not even sure about running it anymore. (I replaced OTR with Made for This and two times I would have had value out of OTR while being tunneled)

The only thing they need to change with Made for This is its synergy with other Perks, mainly Hope.

  • @fulltonon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3453192#Comment_3453192

You say "it is nowhere near that strong" because...?

It is not limited to once unlike old dead hard, it doesn't takes any skill to make it work, and ultimately can work with exhaustion perks too, It actually does seems to be stronger and consistent than dead hard if we think what it does.

And last line of your comment is entirely your assumption with nothing to back it up, what's the point of that?

Oh boy, Made for this stronger than old DH. Now thats a take.

My last line is basically the same thing that happens ALL THE TIME in this forum. There is the ritual that one Survivor-Perk is OP and this ritual needs to be done every chapter. This time the Perk is at least decent, I have seen worse OP-Perk contenders.

But I am very sure that after a week or so the pickrate will drop. Because the only Exhaustion-Perk where you will really be able to use Made for This is Dead Hard. And I dont think that it is better to use two Perks together than just using the two strongest Exhaustion Perks (Sprint Burst and Lithe) on their own.

(Yes, you can also use Lithe with Made for This. But most of the time the Survivor will be healthy when using Lithe... Which will result in Made for This being a dead Perk most of the time when paired with other Exhaustion Perks than DH)

Ah yes, nerfing killer's perks into oblivion because it requires considerations to keep balanced.

    Classic move.

Man, you are really reasonable and your argumentation skills are top tier. /s

Of course it was a better move to do it that way. Because otherwise it would be a pain in the butt to balance Stun-Perks properly. E.g. DS affected by Enduring was a joke (kinda like it is nowadays). And if they would have buffed it so that it actually works against Enduring, it would have been too long for everyone who does not run Enduring.

Let alone that currently there is not really a Stun-Perk which is problematic at all. Not even in the slightest. A Enduring-Buff like that would not even be justified.

  • Enduring used to affect stuns by Perks as well. Also for around 50%. The Devs changed it because it is easier to balance Perks without Enduring in mind.

E.g. a stun can be too short with Enduring, but if they make it longer it can be too long without Enduring. So they removed the interaction.

Ah yes, the good old "me screwing up was actually helping me all along" that only survivors get...

Can you begin to imagine what such a second chance perk would look like on killer's side?

"Y'all pop that gen real good over there eh!?, let me press E real quick to INSTANTLY bring it back to 0% and make the gen counter tick back to 5.... much better! Shame for that BNP tho..."

Bloodlust. And yes Killers use Bloodlust (which does not even require a Perk Slot) for way more than "Infinites".

    @topic:

Comparing it to old DH is really a stretch. It is nowhere near that strong.

But I guess it is the next "OP"-Perk which is now the topic for a few weeks until nobody is running it.

Of course you can. Do people just say this to downplay the perk? It pairs excellently with every exhaustion perk but sprint burst.

I mean, you will always have 1 dead Perk if you use it with any Exhaustion-Perk except for DH. You probably use every Exhaustion Perk while you are still healthy and once you are injured, you wont get any benefit from Made for This.

And with DH it is questionable if you want to use 2 Perk Slots when Sprint Burst is just better and only takes 1 Perk Slot.

ah yes, forgot you need to be in a state in which you spend half the match and when you need haste the most

any other juicy bits of intel?

Yeah, you cannot use most of the Exhaustion Perks. Which is significant.

I feel like you don’t even play killer 😂 heavily disagree with every one of your points. Hackers have already proven after less than 10 wins you go against max mmr. What are you even saying

I probably have more hours on Killer than most players in this game overall. But yeah, if it fits your narrative, I never play Killer. And I totally dont have all Killers (aside from Singularity) maxed out or something. And I totally did not do that before the Prestige-Change.

hey, let's make dark theory 2.0 but 50% stronger and unconditional!

    It isnt unconditional.

Yeah that could be that and I may need more practice with him which is fine. I just was expecting more which I should of known at this point lol.

Yeah, I mean, currently it is impossible to see how good or bad the Killer is. This will take a few days so that the Killer players have learned how to use the new Killer and the Survivors have learned how to play against them.

I did not play him either (I played like 2 games on the PTB against actual humans (Bots was a bit funny...), waiting times far too long), so I expect a few trainwrecks with 1-3 Hooks or something like that.

I genuinly think it will fade into obscurity not because its bad but because the average player is incredibly bad, same case as hyperfocus, a good player with made for this can absolutelly make life hell in a good loop setup, and they can pair it with dh so when the speedboost is not enough you dh and reset bloodlust and then continue looping with normal speed.

However the average survivor will equip hyperfocus because content creators say its good, will force a hit to try the perk, go down in less than 40 seconds somehow and then reach the conclusion of made for this is a bad perk.

It will pile up with lucky break and hyperfocus as amazing perks that are strong af, but since people are not enough to use it they are deemed awful.

I think you wrote Hyperfocus two times when you meant Made for This.

And I would agree, it is not a weak Perk at all. It grants Movement Speed, after all, but I think the restrictions are fine, especially because it cannot be paired with most Exhaustion Perks (yes, can be paired with DH, but I dont think that the Combination of MFT and DH is better than Sprint Burst, which would also only take 1 Perk Slot).

But in general, Exhaustion Perks are stronger and easier to use than MFT.

My thoughts exactly. I permarun No Mither these days with no exhaustion MFT is really an ideal perk for me, but a lot of players will likely realize that they're better off with SB or Lithe.

I also dont use Exhaustion Perks. Used Balanced Landing back in the day, but it got nerfed. Switched to DH but at some point I was so frustrated of it that I did not use it anymore (this was before they fixed it) and I did not re-equip it when they fixed it. So playing without Exhaustion Perks for a long time and I was quite excited for Made for This.

It would be nice to have a decent Perk which rewards you for not using the strongest category of Survivor Perks.

I'm not expecting to go against babies but I can't exactly learn a new killer when I'm put against p100s.

You can. You will just probably not win. Or do you only learn when you get 4Ks and you dont learn when you get 0Ks? You know that this is not how it works.

Your MMR should settle after a few games.

So then explain why I'm constantly getting high mmr survivors when I play killer even though I did terrible all the matches before?

I mean, if you are really not good as Killer even mediocre or bad Survivors might seem like "high mmr survivors".

You will not get high MMR-Survivors constantly. This is just not true. You can think that you get them if it makes you feel better, but it is not the case.

Other than that, you were probably over-performing quite a bit at some point (maybe during the Gen Kick-Meta?) and now it takes some time until your SBMM settles.
