Well, when a Ghostface crashed in my game, I got my Progression for the Totem Challenge.
Maybe it is different between manual DC and a legit Crash.

I see killers winning with old Freddy and Clown in high ranks without using perks or add-ons. This proves that their kit was/is unbalanced as well ?
It depends on how consistent they are. I mean, even with 4 Perks, Nurse can get away with using Perks like Deerstalker, while every other Killer (maybe except Spirit) needs to play the most optimal Perks.

Negative reinforcement and making the rift only completable by a select few and/or shelling out money will literally only turn people away. I’m not going to waste my money on something that Bhvr clearly doesn’t want me to complete on my own, same with other players with enough self respect as players and consumers. If Bhvr really wants us to buy into the battle pass, which they do, they would want people to feel confident and positive about playing through it so we will want to keep playing the battle pass.
You dont need to complete the Battle Pass to get your money worth out of it. There are a lot of Cosmetics in it.

I don't think I need to complete the challenges (never planned to even before the ptb), I'm merely observing.
This just shows what the developers were really after when they made the archives. They don't want people to be able to complete the rift.
I understand battlepasses in f2p games but come on. DbD is a $20 games with $100+ of dlc (granted some of that dlc can be acquired with gameplay but there is still a significant amount that can not) and they are trying to squeeze every last drop of players.
Some f2p games have easier battlepasses than DbD and this just blows my mind.
They dont want ALL people to complete the Rift. It is logical that you wont spend 10 Euros one-time and get every future Battle Pass free. I guess they are aiming for a percentage of Players who get it, and if it is too low, they can adjust the difficulty (or increase it, if it is too much). Like, if they aim for 10% who complete the Rift, and it will be 5%, they might lower the difficulty. But if 20% complete the Pass, they might make it harder for the next Archives.
While it is true that DBD is not F2P, it is kinda cheap. And you can get most of the Stuff for free, as long as you dont want to play specific Killers, you dont need to spend any more money. Perks appear in the Shrine, even from licensed Characters, and most Killers and Survivors can be bought via Shards. For Survivor, you only need the Basegame and DS, and you are fine. For Killer, you can get a lot with Shards.
Overall, I think people should just wait until the end of the Rift Period. Because then players know, how much they actually achieve. And if in doubt, everybody can buy the pass at the end, if they are happy with the Progression and what they got.

You need to do those other challenges to get to the lore challenges, though. So good luck.
The Killer ones are easier to do, for the Lore Challenges, go for them. They just require to change the Build a little bit, so no sweet Double BPs for BBQ, but running into Pallets to destroy them with Brutal Strength.
In General, the BS Challenges are the Survivor challenges.

Except these aren't challenges. It's the same thing as saying no-blink nurse is a challenge, it's not. You can not possibly win as no-blink nurse without the survivors intentionally throwing. It's not about effort at that point, not a test of skill, just luck.
Yeah, but why do people think that they NEED to complete every challenge? Why do people think they are entitled to get everything done?
From the picture, I see that the Lore-Challenges are pretty doable. This is the important thing for me. The rest will be something that either needs effort, or will be ignored. Like, I will not sweat for some of those challenges, just to get a few Rift Fragments, which I will get anyway by playing the game.
-
Either that or getting Serum Vials via completing Gens/hooking Survivors. But not as Part of the Rift.
Also more BPs for completed Gens/hooked Survivors. 4K instead of 3K. Like last year.
-
In Order to balance the game, Nurse and Spirit needs to get Nerfs. Nurse already got her Rework (but will still be the best Killer, so not sure how much that helped), Spirit will get it in the future (but they need to be more careful with her, it is easier to destroy her).
Because you cannot balance a game around Nurse. This is simply not possible, old Nurse was broken. Faced a Nurse with only BBQ, she got a 4K with 2 Gens left. Prime example why also her Basekit was not fine.
But what you said about Pallets - ignore the number of Badham Pallets. They are all unsafe (at least outside of the Buildings), so there can be a shitload of them. They are just to generate a Stun and get the Distance, if a Survivors stays at the Pallet, he will get hit. Same with Hawkins, this Map has like 2 really safe Pallets, the rest is highly unsafe (personally, Spirit Fury and Bloodlust are two things which need to go on those two Realms...).
So yeah, I would see those Reworks as part of a bigger picture. Surely all Killers should be viable at Red Ranks, but there is no way to make a Clown as viable as Spirit, with the current Kit.
-
Are those the Challenges of the Live Version or the PTB? Because Level 1 already changed compared to the PTB.
Regardless, you can get the Rift Fragments via playing as well. So I think its ok to have hard challenges. The ones for the Lore are pretty doable. You will need a few Trials tho.
-
Personally, this does not really feel like an event for me, it is just Bonus-BP, and also quite a low amount. However, it helps grinding, so thats good.
What I would have wished:
Offerings give 4K BP per Hook/Gen
Event not in the Free Track of the Rift
First would help with the BPs, because getting those Offerings can cost a lot of BPs. Second would actually make it an event, when you have to fill Vials for Gens or Hooks.
I also liked last years Event a lot, but can understand that it might be frustrating for some players. For me it was a lot of Fun, but I was in lower Ranks.
btw. assuming that Killers would not run Slowdown Perks when the Main Objective is longer or a secondary Objective (like those Plants) is introduced is kinda... meh. Killers would still use Slowdown.

Yes, this is bullshit.
Same like a "search 3 chests in one trial". Everytime when someone ignore my chat messages in lobby and toxically opened chest to avoid me completion of quest, I have a reason for insta DC. Just because this round is only wasted time for me. Sorry. Quests without "in single trial" are OK. No problem to play 5 matches until I cleanse 10 totems, but ***** remove thins like "5 totems in one trial".
You are some kind of a special person.
@Might_Oakk said:
For a couple weeks the game will be horrible I'm guessing. People will just be trying todo these achievements as opposed to playing objectives.
This sucks because it will also ruin the experience of players who have no interest in the rift. You can already see it with the current quick and easy tier1 challenges ie. Players YOLO racing each other to unhook, disconnecting if chests are looted etc.
Not to mention the amount of depipping this will encourage. These challenges seem a lot easier at r15.
Only for Survivors. For Killers it will be fine, since they most likely only need to equip another Perk, while Survivors go Totem Hunting for several matches, not doing Gens during this time.
But those challenges are far from toxic or even that horrible for the game. I played World of Tanks, one Medium Tank Challenge was to destroy an Artillery. So for a few days, Medium Tanks suicide-rushed to the enemy side to kill the Arty, to get their mission done, screwing their whole team. I dont think it will be that drastic in DBD.

pemberley is talking about the later challenges, specifically level 4.
Are those the actual challenges? Or the PTB-ones?
Because Level 1 already changed from the PTB.
But anyway, not everyone has to reach everything... A little bit of effort required in DBD is nice, there is no real effort otherwise.

Serum: Free Track of the Rift. No Money, 2 Full Sets of Cosmetics available.
Halloween "Event": Use Offerings to get more BPs by Repairing Gens and Hooking People.
-
I am pretty sure you tested the new Nurse on the Live Version in the 30 minutes this Update is live.
-
@Darkskies said:
So the pumpkin lobby is our Halloween Advent? Erm confused
The Halloween "Event" is only more BPs when using the Offering. You gain the Serum via the Free Track of the Rift (which is also a thing... should be separated IMO).
So you dont get Serum by repairing the Gens or hooking Survivors on the special Hooks.

Just remove the cap, its not super common to hit it anyway and the only justification I can think of is to slow the grind, which no one wants.
Uncapped is not really an option. There is no need to have farming Matches during Double BP Events which reward 1 Million BP afterwards.
Category Cap removed - so much yes! Really tired of doing Stuff when I already maxed out BP. I mean, should I not do any Gens when my Objective is maxed?

Sound like you are from the dev team to induce me to buy, haha. Just kidding, mate. Thanks for the advise.
Nah, this was basically my thought process. I was playing only Survivor at this point, but decided to get Leatherface, just for the case I want to play Killer, so that I have this Perk already.
-
@Fibijean said:
If you want the mechanical reason, it's because Borrowed Time only activates if you are within the killer's terror radius. Since oblivious removes the terror radius, BT doesn't activate.
If you're looking for the logic behind why the devs changed it, I don't know. My guess would be by way of a small nerf, so that the perk is counterable by stealth killers.
It got countered by Stealth Killers before, a Ghost Face in Night Shroud will also counter Undetectable.
It is simply stupid that Freddy can completely ignore BT, there is no reason for that (same the other way around - no reason a Survivor should see Freddy all the Time with OoO while asleep)... Oblivious for Freddy was a bad decision.
-
The Leatherface DLC costs 3 Euros at the moment. You get one of the best Killer Perks in the game for that, and a Perk which helps to reduce the grind A LOT. If you play somewhat decent, it is 50k BP every game with BBQ on Tier 3.
You can wait for the Shrine, but BBQ appeared only 3 times since its Introduction. Just get Leatherface and grind him, you dont even need to play him to get his Perks, you can get the BP with any other Character. Of course it is some grind, but it helps to reduce any future grind.
-
Same with Lockers and Windows. I dont really enjoy being sucked into the locker when 3 meters away.
-
Just throwing this in regarding Nurse:
Played vs a Nurse today who only had BBQ. No other Perks, no Add Ons. Got a 4K with 2 Gens left. Yeah, totally fine, when a Killer can just use his Double-BP Perk, while other Killers struggle with the decision which 4 Perks they want to use...
Regarding the Update:
Really happy about it, still hyped for the Archives and the Rift.

I mean the entire point of hearing the phasing sound is to tell you to stop moving and try and hide. The counter is literally built into it when not using prayer beads.
You're right, it's very hard to counter her but I think it's possible. For faking phasing though, I think it should stay that way. It's a gamble to use it and it doesn't guarantee a free hit. If they heard the sound while she's right there that would cut her mind-games down to almost nothing.
Thing is, if Spirit stands near a Pallet, she gets the Hit when the Survivor vaults it. Yes, this is a gamble for her. But, she can still react if the Survivor is moving any way. So there is not really a Risk.
I mean, I can see it from myself that Spirit is not that hard to play and very effective, I am more likely to rank up when playing Spirit than any other Killer.
-

But they still hear the sound of phasing (obv not w/ prayer beads), can stop running any time they wish, and can run a perk to make them quiet while injured.
I know using specific perks to have a counter on a killer isn't the best design but in this case I think it's not too bad since it's mostly related to sound which is something you have some control over as a survivor even without the perk.
Then you have still Footsteps, moving Grass and Collision to find the Survivor. Iron Will only makes it harder, but is no counterplay. Also, quite a lot of Spirits I verse are using Stridor lately, which completely counters Iron Will.
-
I mean, why not?
It is not that this form of Mindgame has any Skill involved. Spirit would still be far better than any M1-Killer.
-
"i even went to the side of the locker and got hit"... Yeah, and it is also possible that the Killer is in front of the Locker and does not get a Stun. It works both ways, Head On is unreliable.
Would not mind it too much. It is only a 3 second Stun, which is nearly nothing. The Survivor has the risk of being pulled out of the Locker before, so it is high Risk, mediocre Reward.
-
So stupid to write "Do Bones", because a mediocre animated Series used the Term first.
Anyway, breaking Totems is a waste of time. If you break one Totem, you basically need to break every Totem, otherwise you only wasted your time. And all for a Perk which the Killer might not have (which is most likely the case in High Ranks anyway, I really rarely see NOED in Red Ranks).
And thats from someone who cleanses every Totem he comes across - I am not the most optimal Survivor, but I completely understand the reason that Totems are a waste of time.

Medium vaults will not keep your momentum. You come to a complete standstill right next to the window.
Fast vaults will keep momentum. You'll land a little ways away from the window. Changing directions after fast vaulting will cause you to lose momentum though (i.e. You vault and immediately start running left or right, not straight).
Otherwise, getting hit might cause the game to "lag back" (it's correcting your position to what the server sees), or having a weak connection might cause a bit of delay between what you see and where the server sees you.
"fast vaults will keep momentum"<--This is so far away from true.
You can play a Window 100% correctly, get a Fast Vault and will STILL sucked back, because the Positioning after the Vault is ######### and was never fixed. Not really cool, not at all.
-
Uh, yeah, lets dodge every Looper as Killer. Noice.
-
This is happening for a time now.
Those are people who actually crashed during Loading Screen, but the game seems not to realize that right away.
-
Since one of those things happened just a few minutes ago, here are my Top 3:
Got reported for "taking the game hostage" because I found someone in a Corner with Billy and Chainsawed them.
Got reported for Cheating, because I ran a Killer around the Central Building of Disturb Ward (with Balanced Landing).
And, what basically just happened:
Got reported for Speedhacking after playing Leatherface with PWYF...
-
She is underrated. Quite a solid Killer, permanent Insta-Down at least or a really, really strong Range Attack. However, she is boring to play - usually Survivors dont cleanse, so you cannot use your power to 100%.
The concept is really cool and creative, but the gameplay itself is boring.
-
Well, Dying State is not Injured.
Besides that, I usually dont have any problem with giving noises while slugged. If I am one of the last people, I will most likely not get out anyway, and I prefer to be picked up and hooked instead of lying around for 4 minutes.

Clown to me nothing worse than paying out for a skin then it being bugged with no fix... defently bad business just saying 🐷
Hey, he gives you a Thumbs Up! That is nice of him!
@Topic:
Best for me: Hag (she looks amazing, Hag Cosmetics are awful, so making her really disgusting worked for me), Clown (even tho he is ######### to play, so I will not get his Cosmetic), Wraith (bought him last year for actual money, since I spent the Vials on the Survivors)
Worst: Plague by far. She is not bad looking, but it is just Plague. Like all of her Cosmetics, they dont really stand out. Also really mixed on Spirit - I like the Look of the hands and the Sword when playing her. I also like the face, except the 5 chins. Also not really happy with the Bumps.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
Because survivors shouldn't get injured unless a killer actually does something to them. I don't think there are any exceptions to this rule. The closest argument you could make is The Plague's infection spreading. But that is the result of the action of the killer indirectly.
Trappers Bloody Coil. But this should be it.
@Topic:
Lockers are some form of safety. It would not make any sense to give an object, which is for safety, an effect to injure people. I mean, it is a Core Mechanic of this game.
-
To play as:
Clown. He even has some really good Cosmetics (Santa Clown and Halloween 2019), but I cannot bring myself to play Clown. At some point I have to P3-50 him with all Perks, but he is the one I am looking forward to the least, by far. I guess its because he is so bad.
To play against:
Spirit. All those TOTALLY SKILLBASED Mindgames.
-
While this would explain OPs Screenshot, what about those?
Especially in the second case the Rank Difference is almost double what should be the max Range.
Both times I was solo.
-
DS. When there is no Obsession in game, the Killer can simply tunnel as he wishes. Also, when he tunnels you once and sees that you dont have DS, he will do it the second time.
Last but not least, you can be as good at looping as possible, but when you get hooked somewhere where you have nothing to work with, DS can help you to get away from there.
-
When all Gens are powered and the EGC did not start yet.
So you cannot open a Gate after closing the Hatch or when one Gate is already open.
-
Enjoying Survivor more, playing 60% Survivor, 40% Killer, most of the time.
-
Most likely.
All Dates regarding the Rift/Archives were subject to change.

Same for me, too. I saw them play DbD in 2016 and got the game when it got released for PS4 in 2017.
I have a better PC now, but as long as cross-save isn't a thing I'm staying on console most of the time.
Honestly, I have seen PS4-gameplay and with the grind being easier (especially with todays knowledge, I notice it while I am prestiging my Killers that I do not need to have every Perk to just pollute my Bloodweb and can care for them later), the performance on PS4 would have driven me away quite fast. You seem to be more persistent with that :P
It is btw. funny to see them play DBD (last they played it with Spirit, before Legion), when having knowledge of the game itself.
-
Honestly, I feel this is the risk of running Inner Strength. Breaking Dull Totems brings 1k BPs (ok, its Boldness, but still) and a little bit of Emblem Progress AND helps to prevent NOED. If someone wants to run Inner Strength, he/she should expect to not get it activated 5 times in one game.
So yeah, this person was stupid.

Thing is, there was never a date for the Update. So you cannot say that something is delayed when a Date was never communicated.
Even tho, it is logical that the 22nd was the latest date for the Patch, since otherwise the event cannot take place.
Basically, read it as the Mid Chapter Patch got delayed.
-
Few weeks ago:
I managed to get hooked in the Basement by a Billy. A Bill came down to get me... And he did not unhook me. He waited until Billy was back at the Shack and was down with us, so he ran away, so I reached the second state. He even had Borrowed and I had DS...
And, two days ago:
Played SWF with my friend (the other Red Rank), and while I was hooked in the Basement (I see a pattern), my friend (injured) was not able to get me, because Ghostface was camping above (with 5 Gens to go, but well..).. And I did not see any of the other Survivors.
Turns out: They were in a locker the whole time. Both of them. They did not participate in the game at all, it was a 2v1. The guy who died only got so much points because he got off the Hook by a Kobe. Jeff (who escaped) got around 13k Points, but 5000 are for the escape, 2500 for Hatch Escape and also quite a good amount for opening the Hatch. After asking why they play like this "Tactic"...
I still think that Left Behind is ok and not a problematic Perk, but that was really annoying.
-
Thing is also, even giving an estimate would be wrong. Because you can write as clear as possible that this is no final date - people would not understand it. This is the internet. It works like this.
They can say: "The event MIGHT be ready in two weeks, if we manage to fix all problems. There is no guarantee for that, so please do not be upset if it will not work that way, we cannot give you are an answer which would be 100% sure"... And still people would go like "You promised us to have it ready in two weeks!!!111"... Thats how it works.
-
It looks a little bit like a face, with the empty center being the mouth.
Overall, those are gears. Representing a Gen.

Its not like that the people who complain about these challenges have any facts they can base their argumentation on.
If after the full Rift-Time only a really small minority completed the Rift Pass (=less people than expected by BHVR, and no, it is not the goal that everyone should complete it), THEN changes can be made.
These challenges arent luck based either.
