I barely even use it if not at all so i have no idea how this system is used

I guess this goes for most players. I doubt that the Devs will get much Data from it.

  • Dont you see the irony of your point? You are bringing up Dowsey losing against a Top 1% SWF, and basically ignores why he had to go against such a team - because he waited for over 2 hours to get into a Lobby. First of all, this is obviously a MMR-flaw (no cutoff point to the top), but this also shows how rare those teams are.

Most of the time you dont need to play perfectly to win as Killer. Sometimes people act as if the Survivors can mess up the whole time while the Killer will lose after doing one little mistake, but this is wrong. I make quite a bunch of mistakes as Killer and still have decent Results. And I also have seen one Survivor messing up and the game going downhill from there.

Most of the time you are fine with basically every Killer against the usual Survivors. Only in competitive play you will need the strong Killers, but again, this games dont happen in your usual random queue.

And well, Nurse and Spirit are not really good examples for good gamedesign - one of them is a design failure who only gets balanced because not many people want to put effort into her and the other has basically non-existing counterplay to be good.

I didn't think it was much of an issue but I see your point (regarding 'fix')

I understand the perk is bad but I run perks like these all the time. Some killers might find being able to see pallets useful (like on doctor or PH) and I personally feel like this perk can genuinely help me on killers like clown. Could be wrong but the perk at this state is completely useless. I see why windows of opportunity has a cooldown but I cant understand why this perk does.

Its not really an issue, just something that bothers me, haha. :P

I mean, if you can use out of Zanshin Tactics, it is fine. Just for me, personally, I would like to have a complete different Perk. Even on the Killers you mentioned, I use other Perks (e.g. Brutal on Clown and Doctor and Im All Ears on PH), but thats just different playstyles. Most likely the Zanshin Tactics has some good use for some players, just not for me personally.

(And it can also be considered a Learning Tool, but I usually avoid calling Perks like that, since they are not in the Basegame)

But yeah, they can easily buff it. (And regarding Windows, I dont mind the Cooldown on it, I have bigger problems with the Range only being 20 meters)

  • Usually I just kill the third Survivor and then I search the Hatch. If the last Survivor gets it, fine by me. In the end, they were lucky to get away, and I won.

    The only exceptions are:

    • I see the last Survivor when downing the third
    • I need my fourth BBQ-Stack
    • The last Survivor was either pretty annoying (either against me or their teammates) or was hiding the whole game

And then again, if I got them, I would not mind if the other guy would escape.

  • Personally, I hope they make it more "Anti-Tunnel" in a future Update. Like increasing the Timer or removing Scratchmarks/Bloodtrails/Grunts of Pain for 10 seconds after the stun so that the Survivor either is secured longer or has an actual chance to get away (like, the strongest Killers like Nurse and Spirit dont care about DS at all, so 10 seconds of basically being invisible can give the Survivor enough distance).

  • Can we stop talking about "fixing" things? The Perk is not broken or buggy, it is just bad. So the correct term would be "Buff" or "Rework". (Not addressed at this post directly, but I see it quite often that people say that they want things to get "fixed" when they are talking about Buffs, Reworks or Nerfs)

Regarding Zanshin Tactics - even without the Cooldown, the Perk would not really be good. IMO it should be a complete different Perk, seeing Vaults and Pallets makes total sense for Windows of Opportunities (and this should be buffed as well), but I dont see that much use for the Killer player.

So I would rather rework it to another effect which is actually useful, since the Oni-Chapter only has 1 bad Perk (Zanshin Tactics) and two really situational Perks with Nemesis and Blood Echo.

But if they dont want to give it a new effect, at least they can buff it, I agree on that one.

  • The DC-Penalty is good and should stay. Yes, it might be boring to play a Farm-Match (I get them rarely, so I dont mind some Farming, if it would happen frequently I would be annoyed). And honestly, I would also like to DC in some instances, e.g. if a Survivor kills themselves on their first Hook or if a Survivor DCs at the start, I also would like to get out of the Match ASAP as Killer, because it will be boring. Either I drag it out so that everyone can get points, or I win easily, because it is a 3v1 from the start.

However, this is not possible, because people would still DC for things they dont like. And those are the majority of players and it is good that they get punished.

Regarding the option to abort a Match, IMO something like this should not be in the game. SWFs could easily abuse that, like, seeing that the Killer is Spirit? Playing in a SWF with 3 or more people? Great, the Match is over, simply vote!

(Even tho, I am sure, that almost never a Spirit Player will be able to get a game, since even Solos would probably want to abort the game)

But yeah, something like this would be abuseable.

  • Playing Killer is not that frustrating if you are at least somewhat good at it.

    To your points:

    • "The innability to turn your head around because you're stuck in an animation (vaulting, grabbing, ...) is so toxic and anti-fun"

So, now animations are toxic too? sigh

    • "Vaulting speed is ridiculously slow"

Vaulting Speed is fine. If you want faster Vaulting Speed, you can run Bamboozle. Vaulting Speed used to be a lot slower. You know, during a time where Killer was actually difficult to play.

    • "If you chase someone for more than 10 seconds, you basically lose the game guaranteed."

Incorrect. I have the feeling that players always over- and underestimate the time they spend in Chases. Survivors tend to think that their chases are longer than they actually are, while Killers think the opposite. But from my experience, even a longer chase will not lose you the game

    • "There are waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too many pallets everywhere in virtually all choke points."

Most Maps dont have that many Pallets. The only Maps which have a huge amount of Pallets are those, were the Pallets are unsafe. And those can be played by the Killer. If you are breaking every Pallet you come across, you will lose, because some Pallets dont need to be broken in the chase.

(Note: An exception is The Game, but I guess this is to compensate for Deadends. But it would be nice to have a reduction of Pallets here, and a removal of Breakable Walls to remove the Deadends)

    • "The SMALLEST mistake (walking into an obstacle) and the whole chase is done."

No, clearly not. And, to be honest, getting stuck is a pretty dumb mistake and it is ok to be punished for it.

    • "It's basically pointless to play smart and find good hiding spots - you can most likely out-run the killer anyway."

Stealth got nerfed over time. You have better Tracking abilities, e.g. Plague can make Survivors audible unless they cleanse, Oni has Bloodorbs which give away Survivors locations. Killer Instinct got added which removes the ability to hide in Lockers. Those are just some examples, but Stealth got less and less attractive. And this is fine by me, I dont like Survivors who hide, Chases are more fun than hide-and-seek.

    • "Decisive strike talent is ridiculous. You hook your opponent, someone saves him, and you kill him again (assuming he doesn't run the other ridiculously annoying immunity talent) ,,, but you basically just have to sit there and wait (which guarantees a loss) OR you leave and the survivoir basically gets out for free."

DS will get nerfed, most likely in a few days already (with the release of Chapter 19).

    • "Even IF you manage to kill 3 of them, the hatch opens up for the last survivor ............ like really ???"

If you killed 3 Survivors before all Gens were done, you won the game in my opinion. A 4K is not the only way to call a game a "win". If I finish the game as Killer with 3 Survivors dead and 4 Gens to go, I dont care if the last guy gets the Hatch, they got lucky that they found it, but they did not win, I won.

Those aspects might not apply to Top 1% Survivor-SWFs, but those are very rare. I am pretty sure that most players did not have to go against one of those teams at all. If I remember, I had exactly one instance where I went against tournament Survivors. Most Survivors are pretty bad.

    And, last but not least:

"Honestly, the core of this game is so much and has so much potential, but how they manage to screw up balancing THAT much is beyond me."

Both sides should have the chance to win. I dont know what you understand as "core of this game", DBD is pretty balanced at the moment. IMO it is a little bit too easy to play Killer currently, it is still harder than Survivor, but sometimes I can win without even trying.

In the end, this is a Multiplayer Game, not a Slaughter-Simulator, so Survivors should also be able to win.

Nope it´s not. I remember several totem spots that used to be really hard to find. Now the totems don´t spawn there but 1 or 2 meters away, out in the open.

Oh Detectives Hunch and Small Game are killer perks? Good to know!

It is nonsense. And really, I will not address made-up nonsense.

I did not say they are Killer Perks. But you also said quite often that you dont even play Killer.

And well, bringing up Detectives Hunch and Small Game is funny - people complain all the time that Survivors use the same Perks over and over again. But using other Perks which help to find Totems seems to be bad as well. Damn, those Survivor Perks!

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2034861#Comment_2034861

Have you tried using Detectives Hunch or Small Game? Those work wonders for finding totems!

Most spots are way to easily found. Totems used to be hidden better. Buuut once Undying dropped, the spawns got moved, to be easily spottable.

"Buuut once Undying dropped, the spawns got moved, to be easily spottable."

This is wrong. I know that you dont like to hear reasonable arguments, but making up nonsense is not good at all. And well, according to you, you dont even play Killer...

  • When I played Billy I once again got a bunch of Survivors who were new to the game. Yes, Ranks were not used for Matchmaking, so seeing a lot of brown Ranks is nothing to worry about. However, there were people with 2,9 hours (this was the lowest amount I have seen) in my Lobbies. I have over 5600 hours, those players should be nowhere near me.

Granted, I did not play that much Billy before the MMR-Test and I also did not play that many during the test.

However, when I played a round of Nurse (which I play really badly), I got 3 Flashlights (I think SWF, they all spawned close after each other, Console players), a Haddonfield Offering and Object. This would have been fine with Billy, but not with Nurse.

  • Wow, one screenshot. This evidence.

Try to find all 5 Totems on The Game, it will take some time. You will eventually find them, but not fast. This goes for quite a bunch of Maps, Saloon, Midwich, Lerys (so Indoor-Maps in general), also Yamaoka and Badham have some pretty decent Totem Spots.

Even MacMillan has some good spots since the Rework.

  • There are lots of really good Totem Spots. Just nobody talks about them.

  • Your game is ruined when someone Kobes? Really? Arent you a little bit overexaggerating?

As long as you achieved merciless, that’s all that matters. At red ranks I’ve had a survivor escape through the hatch, get 3 iridescent emblems and a gold, and still achieved Merciless Killer.

Merciless at Red Ranks is 4 Iridescent. With 3 Iridescent and 1 Gold, you would only get Ruthless at Red Ranks, so you must have been purple Ranks to get a Merciless Killer with 3 Iridescent and 1 Gold.

  • Sorry for trying to survive.

  • Eh. I just dropped a Pallet and reset it each time Any Means Necessary was off Cooldown. And if I happen to be near them again, I will try to get a stun.

Second game it worked (first game I died after my first hook thanks to Tampered Timer and bad luck, so not that much of a chase).

DBD leaks posted a while ago that DBD renewed Haloween license, so maybe we can hope for a Haddonfield rework. Like a good rework. Like, nuke all buildings to the ground and burn all the great fences of haddonfield.

Not DBDLeaks, LeaksbyDaylight. Aka the bad Leaks-Site. I would not give much on what they are writing, they often are wrong (e.g. their Chapter 19 "Leaks").

Could just mean new Cosmetics or Character Model Rework.

    @Topic:

The Map is not bugged, so no reason to disable it.

  • Honestly, it was expected that there will be a point from there on you cannot take Killer Mains serious anymore.

This is when they complain about Survivors running. People who see this as an actual problem that needs changes and even do videos about it should be ignored. And it should be clear that no fruitful discussion is possible with their opinion.

  • Did the Survivor have the Perk Poised? This hides Scratchmarks for a few seconds after a Gen got done.

  • I am pretty sure it was never possible to do that in the first place. And it should also not be possible.

  • I guess I have an idea which Content Creator you are watching...

Smash Hit is still not a good Perk. The Problems:

    • Only useful on unsafe Pallets, you want to stay on safe Pallets until the Killer breaks them
    • Killers can respect unsafe Pallets, this results in a Hit (and even if they are stunned, they dont need to break those)
    • Latency might result in a Hit as well

Let alone that some time from the 4 seconds is used for the animation.

The Perk is clearly outclassed by Sprint Burst and Dead Hard. And especially Sprint Burst can be a Livesaver in Deadzones (when a Gen is located in an area where no Pallets are nearby), while Smach Hit will not be useful at all in this situation.

  • @Beefmur said:

i guess i shouldve rephrased by saying everyone spawns in a different corner my b not trying to be toxic

This makes more sense. Saying that 3 Survivors spawned across the Map made it sound like you said that those 3 were together.

But I have not experienced this happening on Ormond more often to be honest.

  • Survivors spawning together is usually good for the Killer.

Why design a character for a "small amount of really good nurse players" and leave him busted. She's a relic of old DBD where infinites actually existed and dropping a pallet does almost nothing yeah but on some maps that's the only defence that you basically have.

Look, I completely agree to you, Nurse shoudl get fully reworked, her ability should be weakened a lot and her Movement Speed should be increased to compensate for that. She is outdated and should not be in the game as she currently is.

However, this does not change the fact that you do not even try to play against her. And it is very unlikely that she will get reworked at any point.

  • I usually do that if the other Survivor is hiding all the time OR if I need my 4th BBQ-Stack (which most likely means they were hiding the whole time, lol).

And sometimes simply because I dont want this one Survivor to get away. So there are a few possibilities why a Killer is doing that in your game:

    • they feel bad for you
    • They thought you were playing really way and want to let you escape
    • They want to get the other person

    And probably many more.

  • Dont want to sound rude, but why are you using Pallets against Nurse in the first place? I mean, you can stun her, but IMO it is not really worth taking the risk.

Nurse is busted, but the amount of really good Nurse players is very low, so you should have a chance in most of the games. But if you are camping Pallets against a Nurse, you are doing something wrong.

He has around 6000 hours though and plays the game every single day for about 5 hours per day. He hardly represents the average player.

And? I was not saying that he represents the average Player, but my point stands, he complains too much for the good results he usually gets.

crossplay on. 2 games in a row were all the exact same players.

This is indeed quite unique. My experience was before Dedicated Servers. Since Dedicated Servers are live, I almost never see players I have played with or against before, got even more rare since Crossplay is a thing.

So I guess the percentage of this happening currently is almost non-existent.

I seem to have a similar experience, but only when I'm killer.

fr though, killers need to chill out with Huntress. I get 5 games in a row with her lol.

    EU Server?

I also get a lot of Huntress, I guess this is because she is a Russian Character and many Russians are playing on EU-Server. But this is just a guess.

Look, I'm not trying to be an ass but here is a screenshot of every match true had in the same stream where he talks about holding W.

he died every survivor game, and 4K/3K'd every killer game except for a 1k match with wraith

    https://imgur.com/a/9tKmcxt

There are way too many variables to be like "holding W is too powerful and it takes too much time" because games very rarely if ever just end up being hold W.

Someone once took their time and watched 100 Killergames on Stream of various Content Creators and tru3 had a solid 3K on average for every game.

The big point is, he is always going over matches he lost for minutes, while he brushes matches where he 4Ks off. And most of his 4Ks are also not those where he just slugs everyone, usually everyone in his games get a lot of points, so it is not like he has to sweat in them.

So I would also take videos like this from him with a grain of salt. He often focusses on the worst outcome while ignoring the normal or good outcomes.

I keep getting Huntress left and right throughout my sessions. Makes me take breaks from the game with how stale it becomes against a killer so boring to see several times over.

I think OP is talking about the same player, not only the same Killer.

    @Topic:

Only once, but wasnt a really pleasent experience. Was a Nurse Main, before she got nerfed, someone who always used either 3 Blinks with Range or Omegablink, including Infectious Fright. Games were usually all 4 slugged and then hooked once. Got this guy quite often back in the days, one day two times in a row. As I said, wasnt the most fun I ever had in DBD.

  • Dont know whats funny about that. If you think Demo is bad, you are bad.

  • The Perk is still bad, but maybe you can think about using it over Lithe now. The problems:

    • It does nothing on safe Pallets, you want to stay at those.
    • Killers can respect unsafe Pallets (the only Pallets where the Perk actually makes sense), meaning that the Survivor will get hit.
    • Latency might result in a hit when trying to stun the Killer.

Also, some part of the Duration will be used for the animation, so it is logical to buff it by 1 second.

But as I said, now it might not get outclassed by Lithe anymore, but is not even close to Dead Hard or Sprint Burst. But maybe we found the OP-Survivor Perk of this Chapter which will not be used a week after release.

  • Demo is a more than decent Killer. His Add Ons are underwhelming and his biggest flaw.

  • @aEONoHM said:

I’ve caught myself a few times recently wishing I had Boil Over. Been a few close calls with wigglin out.

Boil Over is pretty much pointless. The time to wiggle is still the same and as long as the Killer is not in a really awkward area where he really can get stuck on things, you will not get any benefit from it.

The only time a Survivor wiggled out with Boil Over against me was when they had 600 Ping (consistently 600 Ping, not Lagswitching or anything). Somehow the wiggle effect of Boil Over was way stronger with high Ping.

    @Topic:

As others have said, Wiggling is not to give you an escape. Mainly it exists so that the Killer cannot go freely for any Hook they like, they have to go for a nearby Hook. Otherwise you would end up in the Basement everytime.

I'm in red ranks and almost every game I get has them

If you think that you almost always get really strong coordinated SWFs, then you are either lying or really not good and thinking that you go against those strong coordinated SWFs, while you are just going against normal Survivors.

  • @kingcarl2012 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/234903/map-offerings-shouldnt-exist

Well since everyone can burn a map offering its sorta balances out. Although i would maybe like to see a change in the odds so that the killer one is slightly more favored in a situation where survivors burn multiple different maps.

At the same time i wouldnt want to see them gone, mostly because map rng sometimes hates me. I usually use them after getting the same map multiple times, coldwind 3 times in a row, im burning a map to go anywhere else. Also if going for a rift challenge, fall 3 times in a chase, hello haddonfield. Can also be huge game changer if going for adept challenges as killer.

IMO they should be favored to the same amount. Otherwise, using Map Offerings as Solo Survivor would not make any sense at all.

Agree on the second part tho, I dont use Map Offerings as Survivor, but yesterday I had 3 times Thompsons House in a row, followed by Rotten Fields (last one as Billy, luckily), so I burned MacMillan and Autohaven for the next couple of games.

    @Topic:

I dont think that Map Offerings are a problem, but Maps are a problem. It is also fine that some Maps are Survivor-sided and others are killer-sided, just the extend is too much for some Maps. E.g. if Haddonfield would only be slightly survivor-sided, there is less problem with a Survivor burning a Strode Key.

So it should solve itself with the Map Reworks.

The only things that should change with Map Offerings IMO:

    • if the Map is not picked (like when multiple players use an Offering), the Offering which is not used is not burned. Mostly important for some Killer Builds, because stuff like Scratched Mirror Myers is limited because of the Map Offerings and if you have to play on another map because the Survivors burned an Offering themselves, you should at least keep your Indoor Map-Offering.
    • Sacrifical Wards should not be burned when no Map Offering is used. You can only use them by guessing anyway, so they should just be returned when nobody burns a Map.

Those are the only changes related to Map Offerings which should be done IMO.

  • Thats Ormond, upper floor of the Lodge.

  • They at least saw this suggestion and said it makes sense (some post from Almo here on the Forums). So I guess it will be Basekit, which would be nice, because this would mean that you have 2 Add On-Slots as Demo.

  • Yes, with Demo being the first one.

    @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2022702#Comment_2022702

Won't they do with Demo what they just did to Wraith and Blight? Mostly QoL? Usually on mid chapters we have bigger changes

Could be possible, but I think that they will do more to his Add Ons. Wraith only got a few Changes, Blight was a POV-Fix, which took longer by default and simply goes out when ready.

But for Demo, most of his Add Ons are not useful at all. The best ones are the brown Add Ons and there is little to no point in using an Add On which is green Rarity or higher.

So I would guess that they will do more to his Add Ons than compared to Wraith for the upcoming Midchapter.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The devs have already confirmed Freddy is getting changes. They'll probably come around on the next mid chapter.

I doubt it. They said the next one will be Demo (most likely only Add-Ons, which is fair, since his Basekit is fine).

  • So you should have to play hundreds of games to get one of those SWFs before you can talk about Killers? They are very rare, so it will take a while until people can give input on Killers.

  • @SilentHillOnDvD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2022135#Comment_2022135

By your logic, if a perk isn't meta it's bad. Survivors are just using perks but when they abuse perks like ds and hit me with it while working on a gen, that is not fun. Bamboozle has counterplay and most killers are predictable when they use it. Killers have so many bad perks it's stupid that I ignore 70% of them because they suck. I can go play survivor and slap on random perks and I'm good to go.

Great, you completely missed my point. But it is whatever, I doubt you will understand it.

  • The Perk System should not change like that at all. Some Survivors and probably Killers would be played less.

E.g. why should anyone play Steve? Or Jeff? Those Characters have bad to mediocre Perks at best, so it would just mean that Survivors who have good teachables will be played a lot more.

When it comes to Killers, to an extend it will roughly be the same. Why should I play Wraith if one of the Perks has to be Shadowborn, Bloodhound or Predator? Why should anyone play Deathslinger with his 3 mediocre (at best) perks?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2022315#Comment_2022315

    Are you trolling.

A game can change from a 4k to a draw.

That's a difference between usually a pip/double pip and safety pip. That's massive.

    And that's a key.

Now they need to get 5 gens for 4 to survive through hatch, but 3 for 2 to get out (which usually happens at first chase, if not shortly after).

Usually, if the survivors play well, they can ensure a 3-4 man escape with keys.

Now tell me how that isn't broken.

    Am I saying Mori's didn't need a nerf? No.

Am I saying keys need a similar nerf? Abso-#########-lutley.

As I said, the Devs said they dont compare them. And Moris were way stronger than Keys.

A Mori can remove one Survivor at the start of the game and the game is over. This one Survivor did not even have a game. If multiple Survivors escape via a Key, they already did a good portion of their Objective (if not all of them). Or, because Killers like to compare Hooks with Gens:

A Killer can get a Mori after 8% of their Objective, Survivors can get a 3 man escape after 80% of their Objective.

Even if multiple Survivors escape with a Key, the Killer at least had a game.

  • Would indeed be nice to have. But I guess it would be a pain to get the license Holders on board with that one, especially thinking about the fact that the first Store-Cosmetic for Leatherface was released quite recently after so many years...

It would also be a pain to gather some faces, the older Survivors are played quite frequently, but some are not seen at all. (Especially without the ability to change Killers in the Lobby)

  • Honestly, this is so random sometimes. Two days ago I went against 7 Spirits, 6 of them with Stridor. Yesterday, I played against 4 Hags. 4 Hags is usually the amount I get in half a year.

    Sometimes DBD-Matchmaking is pretty strange.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Keep them as is but make them base kit for killers.

Unless keys don't really get nerfed, then they should be reverted since it wouldn't be fair for one side to have the ability to end a match prematurely while the other side doesn't.

Aside from the yellow Mori, no Mori should be Basekit. A free tunnel after the second Hook on one Killer (with limitations) is enough, no need to make it Basekit for every Killer. Bringing a Mori is still better than not having it.

Furthermore, the Devs dont compare Keys and Moris, so the Community should not do that anymore as well. But Keys will be nerfed, it is already confirmed.
