The one thing that I'm thinking might be going under the radar if its true... is maybe ruin will be more stealthy. Currently survivors know ruin is up as soon as they get a skillcheck, and a little message pops up showing ruin. Maybe that message wont pop up, and instead survivors will have to be attentive to know that their gens are regressing by themselves.
Its kinda like how Huntress Lullaby is pretty garbo because it announces itselve before it can have a real impact, while devour hope is more likely to survive longer due to survivors not knowing they should look for a totem until someone gets 1 shot. MAYBE the devs will let ruin have that sneaky aspect where survivors wont instantly know to look for it. The survivor who goes to unhook his teammate might not finish his gen first before going for the unhook, allowing for it to regress without his knowledge quite abit.
That would only be a nice blanket on top of a turd. Looks fine until you look at it.
* survivor touches gen and stands up.
*generators stops moving in half a second.
"Ruin is up!"
* does gen normally

I think you would just need to tap the gen for a second to check if the killer is running ruin. That's it.
You beat me to it.

I don't even use ruin, so that's not the issue. The issue is the gigantic survivor bias this update gives.
And the fact that ruin went from strong early game until cleansed to weak/meh early game until cleansed.

Is the New rift pass coming out tomorrow? I saw on “leaksbydaylight” he says it starts January 7th however I haven’t seen any advertisement from the devs so I’m doubtful.
It's the ptb. It's going live there. It's not a full release yet

True said something about this in one of his recent videos, something along the lines of:
“if I have to keep playing frustrating games like this I’m just going to stop playing Killer”

”Killer sounds have been bugged for months now? What is it 2 months already, where are those fixes? But if it was for survivor, they would be fixed immediately.”
If someone could find the video and link it that’d be great.
Probably hard to do considering how many videos he posts daily... but I do remember him saying those things. Or at least similar things

Bumping this because I need some answer to it.

We do play it. To varying degrees on the team, but me personally... I play a lot. The new Ruin is designed to be something that ramps up in power over time. If that totem isn't cleansed by the time there are 3 gens left, the Survivors will be in huge trouble. That's how Hex Perks work.
How many times do I see a Killer get moris off Devour Hope? Not often. But when it happens... oh boy there's some panic lookin' for that totem. :)
Why even have another "win harder" perk? It's the same thing with dying light, by the time it becomes good, you are already destroying the survivors.
Or in the situation you mentioned, a 3 gen. Either the survivors can afford a bait tactic to slowly work on the 2 edge generators (which means ruin is only delaying the inevitable) or they can't (which means ruin is just adding gen regression to you already winning). And since ruin denies all other gen regressing perks, you can't use them alongside it.
In short,
if you're losing the game, it won't help you get back on it.
If you're winning the game, you win harder
-
Yep.
Unless they start allowing you to kick regressing gens

So, basically you can't have two gen regression perks unless it's ruin and thrilling Tremors. sigh there goes my idea of surge and ruin.
Surge still works if someone happens to be working on the gen... but yeah, pretty much.
-
@Hex_KillerMainBTW said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969231#Comment_969231
That is literally my question. Is it regressing normally (like a kick) or is it just a passive regression...these are questions that need answering. Because if it's passive, surge could combo well with it
As soon as a survivor leaves the gen, it regresses normally.
Because there's no such thing as passive regression.
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969231#Comment_969231
Does it automatically apply regression?
If it does, isn't that a nerf to PGTW and Surge?
Yes.
Yes. And the doctor one that I forgot the name

The PTB discussion shared with us contradicts things shared with us previously, and I want to bring attention to them as they both imply a weaker Doctor.
- I asked after the stream that talked about Doctor’s rework, “how much will the static blast raise madness?” Peanits directly responded to this that it would be a full tier’s worth of madness. The PTB discussion says “if static blast raises a survivor’s madness tier...” which to me implies there’s a chance it’ll hit a survivor and won’t raise their madness tier, which is an objective nerf from what was said before if that’s correct.
- The “short delay” between Doctor using shock therapy and being able to do anything else: I’m not saying it will be, I’m withholding judgement, but IF it’s close to the time it used to take to swap stances, then it’s not really a QoL for his chase ability at all. This isn’t as immediate of a concern as my first point, but I want to raise the potential for concern there now so people who try the PTB can compare.
I’m still tentatively optimistic about his changes, but the wording used in the thread shared with us is concerning to say the least...
Someone should time how long it takes to zap someone, switch stances and hit the person.

@Kagari_Leha said:

It will be less strong sure, but i think it has good potential on a lot of killers, especially combined with Thrilling Tremors for example, or PGTW
Can you kick a generator that's regressing? Because I'm pretty sure new ruin counters pop. And surge. And so on
-
Like the effect, seems interesting.
Hate that it's a hex perk still. Doesn't feel good enough of an effect.
Like the synergy with surveillance.
Hate that it negates surge, pop and anything else that requires a kick on the gen.
Like that it forced a change on gatekeeper, might actually get those with trapper on a more regular basis. :p
Hate that it feels like another case of dying light, where it only makes you win harder instead of helping you reverse a losing situation.

I'm stunned, Ruin is now almost a gimmick and they did nothing about Gen speed and/or overtuned Survivor staples.
This may be the darkest patch of DBD for higher ranks, many people will derank because nothing will stop Survivors from destroying gens will toolboxes before the Killer can ever reach them.
I also strongly doubt they even thought about the possible synergy with Surveillance and I think it won't work.
Soft nerf for Trapper btw lmao
I don't use ruin on trapper, not really a soft nerf for him.
I can't speak for everyone but, I think most trapper mains would agree that corrupt intervention is better on him than ruin anyway 🤷♂️

I... suppose this is now a thread on FPS games animation canceling? :'D
We could go deeper if you want.
In castlevania, if you whip just before hitting the ground you skip a few frames.
In super metroid, if you turn into the morph ball at the right time, you skip the bounce and keep your momentum.
These things are everywhere.
But on topic.
If billy only taps the saw to trick you into going out of position, falling for that is on you.
And it's a risk on his part, if you don't fall for it and drop the pallet, he's gonna need to kick it(or charging the chainsaw again, which takes longer) giving you time to get to the next loop.
I don't see any other reason for tapping the chainsaw besides getting the survivor to be greedy and go around the loop again.

Meant or not that's exactly what that addon does. So unless your just arguing to argue. I'll continue to go with the removal of traps as a RSN2 was base. If there just gone for the sake of being gone. That's unbelievably broken.
Why are you using crate of gears and TT? Its inferior to TT + JS it was mathematically proven already. I still think base RSN2 would be a nerf. I prefer the option of removing or gen vs the option of being forced to do a gen then get the box.
Your entitled to your opinion I'm not saying your not allowed it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968110#Comment_968110
Removing them completely yes in fact that's broken, but as RSN2 that's just a nerf.
That's part of what the addon does. But we agree that removing the ability to see the boxes all together would be broken, so it's all good.
It was the first I could think off. 🤷♂️
Same with you. I do think I have a better base for mine, but until it's tested we can't be sure either way
-
As a trapper main, I understand the pain of OoO.
There's no specific tactic against it. Every team is different. You gotta adapt. But never go all in in one tactic. Try to juggle the OoO with everyone else.
@CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:
In my case,when I see survivors that are swf with OoO I just,you know,Dodge the lobby. They are pretty easy to spot that they are swf imo

The Oni's addon is significantly weaker than most in that Oni ends up having significantly less orbs to use for activating his power. If we're talking about combos like your iri head combo...Mint rag+rusty shackles would probably take the cake. Throw make your choice on this and you'll never be able to manage a rescue off hook without just trading places.

No all he wants is RSN2 at base which is a nerf. Ya it might be OP against some low rank or new players, but overall it's just a nerf not a buff. The choice is what makes an RBT strong. Ya they might do the gen then do the trap or they might waste time as intended and do the trap. The choice is what makes it useful remove that and it hurts in more games then not.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968006#Comment_968006
They don't put the time into trying her then suggest changes which are stupid and obnoxiously bad.
Maybe that's what he/she meant, but it's not what was said. Unless you're claiming you can read other people's minds, we go by what they actually said, ok?
Also, I disagree. I think pig would be a lot stronger if rsn2 was base. Or are you saying that tempered timer + crate of gears + rsn2 is weaker than anything else the pig currently has? Every single perk and addon combination she has, is better in rsn2.
-
I like the huntress mori.
My only change would be that the last hit is a hatchet to the head, and then the hatchet stays there in the body

@Liruliniel said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/967710#Comment_967710
That's literally just a nerf. The only ranks that benefit from that would be low rank killers.
Once you remove the option of Gen or Boxes then you have effectively just removed the RBT from ever being useful.
It's actually op as #########.
He didn't say "until activated". Imagine having an active trap and not be able to see where the boxes are

less skins with lower quality

Which is not related to the point I made in any way.
I said, if you already get the cells back, meaning, if he had the cells or was gonna get cells to buy something else... he might aswell buy the premium pass. It's free real state.
Also means the grinding was already done, so it's irrelevant to this.
At this point, it's free skins. And if it's free, why not get them?
And some other people might like the free skins more... so what?

But nothing beats solid snake, not even when he's old snake 😉
Ok. So it is snake. The image of big boss in my head didn't come at random. I assume that scene was a reference to the big boss one.
But even in just metal gear, snake isn't my favorite. The boss > big boss and snake. I don't know where I would put cyborg raiden and jetstream Sam...probably close...

If you get a map with alot of levels though, like Haddonfield or the Game, it's nice to place the traps right about where the survivors jump down. You can literally jump down yourself, stop,and place a trap. Sometimes these can be found fairly quickly because they tend to be a bit in the open, but they can be money a lot the time and hilarious.
On the bottom or top of the stairs works too.
It's surprising how little attention people pay to those spots
