  • "WHY I THINK NEMESIS WILL BE THE RE KILLER"

is it because he's the most well know monster/evil guy in the franchise in a similar vein to piramid head? besides maybe wesker... but honestly, I don't think that's correct.

in comparison mr. X is just a fad... it was in the remakes, so people know it. but it's just tyrant again, but in a trenchcoat... it's boring.

and after actually reading the post instead of just the title... yeah, we agree

No, I'm genuinely not trolling. I'm also not saying that it's right. The perk should still be deactivated and if there's a team of people who knowingly exploiting it by spending all game in a section of the map with broken hooks whilst using no mither it should at least be reportable for griefing.

I'm just trying to apply logic to the situation. Bhvr has never banned for perks. People always bring up legion infinite mend but they weren't perks, so I guess bhvr thinks its chill to ban for add-ons just not perks.

    a distinction without a difference

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Because Legion's game-breaking combo was the combination of two add-ons. This is caused by a perk. AFAIK the devs have never banned for perks.

edit: yes this perk should be deactivated for the duration of this bug don't even attempt to put words in my mouth random forum user ive never seen before#27 (not directed to you SirCracken)

    You are trolling right?

This logic is like if you can get arrested for firing a pistol at a crowd, but not for firing a revolver at a crowd.

    Because "it's a different gun"

Hell, people will be angry if they think it's X look, but they choose the look from a different game.

they didnt do this for silent hill or any other licenced ones though- come the anniversary stream we'll get much more details

they might not even have the models ready, so there really wasn't anything to show.

  • it's gonna be nemesis. (or maybe someone from the new game, but probably nemesis)

I'm not even gonna try making a power... I wouldn't have guessed PH's power in a million years

edit- but it would be hilarious if the power was "missile launcher"

description: you get a missile launcher with 1 missile every couple minutes.

he'll probably come with a bunch of obsession perks

  • ngl... I saw they were gonna do this and went "if dbd is gonna do a RE chapter... it's getting announced here".

but didn't actually bother checking... XD

  • I would take a page from HSH:S and have the survivors find an item before they can work on a gen.

just something magically floating in the air in a very obvious manner. at the start of the trial you see the location of the items. you just walk over it and grab it. then you can do gens normally (doesn't take an item slot... think of it as glyphs)

this would buy the killer 20, maybe 30 seconds. which isn't a lot, but would probably solve the brunt of gen rushing and give set up killers time to actually set up without giving up on 1 or 2 gens

Not cleansing works if you know how to loop.

I think what people want is the game to tell them all the possable counter plays so they don't have to figure it out for themselves with there massive 300 IQ and zero skill 😂

not cleansing only works if everyone knows how to loop.

  • I think not cleansing is a bad strategy and that you should cleanse to force her power on a bad time.

  • the change to OoO alone got me pretty hype so...

also no more hook struggle, that is great.

and nerfing freddy was kind of a given, I think dowsey said it best "as freddy you are just kinda of on autopilot". reducing the snares and pallets is pretty dumb... but the slower movement works. makes you be a little more tactical with when and where you snare

  • if you are near the hook. hit the rescuer twice.

if you are away enough where you can't afford to hit the rescuer twice, try to bodyblock the unhooked and count to 12.

if you are away from the hook and from the gate, why are you away from both during the endgame? this one is on you

  • people really need to understand that while dead hard gives less distance than lithe or SB, it gives this distance PRECISELY when you need it.

sb? only at the start of a chase.

lithe? very first vault. and depending on the location, you might have to stay in the loop anyway.

the pallet one? gotta hit a pallet on the killer.

balanced? only after a drop, that some maps don't even have.

dead hard? exactly when you need it.

  • usually when a survivor starts getting a glyph in front of me, I wait for it to finish, then I smack them.

    just common decency

The perk itself is completely useless now though?

    • The detection range decreases by 5° for each totem cleansed

The current range is 12 meters, if they increase it then it becomes way too big of a cone and sends you on a wild goose chase unless you know roughly where they spawn. If they keep it at 12 meters, than after 2 totems are cleansed it's just a glorified totem counter.

quick reminder that degrees are not the same as meters

    Untitled Image

    meter is distance.

    Untitled Image

    degrees are curvature

    basically, the perk does this

    https://i.imgur.com/Yjhi82l.png

you don't lose distance, it just gets a bit narrower.

They actually think it's a good idea to make a daylight map in this game.

Even dead dawg saloon was a least failure because the sun there could at least be partially explained by a sunrise or a sunset, so it's kinda stuck in between so it was close, but never actually started. Just like death for survivors.

Dear "Dead by DAYLIGHT" developers, would you mind answering a few questions?

SINCE WHEN ENTITY STOPPED BEING HURT BY LIGHT?

since when killers, who get literal burns from weak flashlights stopped being afraid of broad daylight?

WHY DID YOU FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA OF KILLING THE IRONY OF "DEAD BY DAYLIGHT" BY ADDING A MAP WHERE THERE IS DAYLIGHT?

CAN SURVIVORS JUST DIE PERMANENTLY WHENEVER THEY DIE ON THIS MAP?

CAN YOU JUST RENAME THIS GAME INTO SOMETHING LIKE "CIRCUS OF PAIN" ? IT WOULD BE WAY MORE LORE ACCURATE THAN WHAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE NOW?

Delete the sun from this map.

    Make it dark.

Stop ruining the last pieces of consistency in an already ruined lore.

Or just say ######### it and start adding teletubbies as killers, it wouldn't do any worse at this point anyway.

SINCE WHEN ENTITY STOPPED BEING HURT BY LIGHT?

you mean the light the entity itself creates? since forever.

SINCE WHEN KILLERS, WHO GET LITERAL BURNS FROM WEAK FLASHLIGHTS STOPPED BEING AFRAID OF BROAD DAYLIGHT?

being in the light and looking directly at a light source are not the same thing.

the killers aren't vampires. why would they care if the sun is up or not?

WHY DID YOU FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA OF KILLING THE IRONY OF "DEAD BY DAYLIGHT" BY ADDING A MAP WHERE THERE IS DAYLIGHT?

did you forget that the salloom is a map midway through your rant? or ormond?

and more importantly, that's not the actual sun, it's just the entity. it isn't daylight, because once in the entity realm, the day never comes again. only a fake light to give the survivors a bit of hope. which is, very in tune to what the entity does.

CAN SURVIVORS JUST DIE PERMANENTLY WHENEVER THEY DIE ON THIS MAP?

    death isn't an escape

ah... the silly rants people go into for no reason...

As a killer, having options is great and provides different choices. The new Demo add on basically removes that option so you have to run to the other side of the map. But it's ok because... 200BP?

basically, with this addon, you only teleport from a portal you don't want to exist anymore.

worst case scenario, place one down and use it.

memey, but certainly has it's uses

  • so you don't actually hate the new small game.

you hate that the totem count isn't basekit.

    I can agree with that.

  • I like most of the changes

Freedy - don't know what reducing the number os snare or pallet will do... like... at all. it feels like an unnecessary nerf, but at the same time, probably won't have any effect...

new addons could be interesting, new clock interaction is potentially great. might make going to the clock a good strategy.

Demo - good qol... let's see to what extent it helps it.

whistle seems good, pumpkin is very weird but might come in clutch... who knows...

Huntress - iri head is surprisingly still a thing, and does what most people agreed would make it fine. impressive.

    other iri addon is meh...

Twins - seems good...idk... I don't play twins much, so I can form a good opinion

Small game - good buff to it. side note, mini buff to trapper \o/

lucky break - 90 seconds without scratch marks can potentially be amazing... if you can save it for the correct time

    Soul guard - K

    Open handed - good

zanshin - finaly... make it the same for windows.

    borrowed - fair

    OoO -

    Untitled Image

    YES... ######### old OoO!

    toolboxes - k

    hatch - k

HUD - gotta see it to judge

    Struggle - great

map rework - looks great, but corn still exists so 1/10

    seems like a great ptb.

  • considering I can't even change the brightness on console... it would be nice if the maps were brighter right away

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

Lithe, Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing, Head On... all require to simply slot them in your loadout in order to “activate” them. Dead Hard is the only perk which actually requires you to be injured in order to be able to use it. So I’d argue that those perks have little to no condition to use them.

Should Dead Hard work after vaulting a window? Perhaps entering a locker, Or you can drop down from a great height and that will activate it. Sounds kind of silly doesn’t it?

I get that Dead Hard seems annoying to you. Everything you said is very much in line with other comments that have been brought up on here before, I just can’t get behind something being “annoying” and that being the reason for why it is flawed design.

The game revolves around chases because survivors don’t come with weapons or pistols to defend themselves with. So it makes sense to have a perk like Dead Hard to dodge a hit. It’s a perk, that’s how perks work in most games. You slot it, you gain an advantage over those who do not have it.

Literally the same could be said about every other exhaustion perk. Because DH doesn’t apply to every single situation you are presented with. There are often times I wish I had Sprint Burst because I needed more distance or when I went into a locker and the killer walked right by it and I could have bought myself more time by stunning them. Etc.

Annoying is subjective, because I would much rather be dealing with DH than Sprint Burst ANY day of the week.

lithe requires you to use a window or pallet, can potentially be wasted if you are not careful.

sprint burst requires you to walk to not waste it.

balanced requires a drop, which some maps don't even have.

head on requires 3 seconds of being inside a locker. there's almost no way of actually using it inside a chase, which is why it's a meme perk.

dead hard requires you to be injured... oh no... that's so hard to do... you never get injured in the game... and the meta totally isn't to stay injured all game because healing wastes time...

  • it's the smash bros thing.

could another platform fighter be made that people might enjoy more than smash? yes. rivals of aether actually did pretty well. specially with the community created characters.

will it ever beat smash? no.

because smash has everyone. not only it has a big player base already settled, it also has a bunch of licenses that other games just won't be able to get.

so, nothing will beat DBD if the devs continue working on DBD.

    but competition is always good.

Not to mention it confirms that the Breakout perk is absolute trash - the only time it may be remotely useful is with SwF as there's no way it is viable solo queue

again, pallet and flashlight saves work. it also works if the killer drops the person to the ground (I think)

if you finished everything else, just leave it on and play normally. it will happen eventually (do remember to keep the perk equipped).

    What?

    1) It's punished with a time ban for the killer. It discourages DC'ing.

    2) I'm not saying "DC from every match if it isn't going your way" I'm just saying "If you DC'd from one match that one time where the survivors were purposefully sandbagging you and trying to ruin your fun, it's not that big of a deal"

    1) yes. Which is what I said. 🤨

    2) they got 1 down, and the survivors gave them a bunch of free pressure by throwing themselves at him. Even if laurie wiggled off he probably would have gotten them all injured.

There's no proof they were trying to ruin anyones fun or sandbagging. They were just playing the game.

I don't get this comment. They quit the game because they weren't going to have fun. What's wrong with that?

so it's fine to ruin the game for 4 other people?

also DCing it's literaly punished with timed bans?

  • @LazyPayday said:

Clearly you misunderstood what I was getting at and only took a portion of what I said and ignored everything. I completely understood that the game was poorly balanced back then, however too many people lately have been complaining about Killer being "too easy" now. I made this discussion because of the fact that back then it never felt "unfair" even with all the unbalanced mechanics, what I was asking for was not "what was broken with the game" but rather "did everyone think it was broken" because I personally didn't. Hence the title, because I didn't find it to be hard and wondered if others felt the same. But go ahead and be a smartass and ignore the point I was trying to get at.

you are literaly listing reasons why the game was harder back then, and then agree that the game was unbalanced.

yet you are trying to downplay how hard it was by saying you personally was fine with it?

  • @NVerde said:

I'm really struggling with this. Sure it's easy if you have the needed perks and items - without them, it's proving next to impossible. One of the hardest ones for me so far - and I might give up because I'm just not enjoying playing games when trying to get this challenge (I've completed the rift)

use the purple addon for the medkit that gives you endurance. eat 2 hits.

    should do the trick.

pallet and flashlight saves also work

  • I have literally no idea why you didn't hook the kate.

or what felix was doing that he didn't get bored and did stuff.

but why didn't you just kill kate after finding the hatch? why waste all this time?

  • I KNOW. I know that killer vault speeds used to be slower, I know that hooks used to not re spawn, I know that there used to be a lot more pallets and loops were stronger, I know that there used to be genuine infinities in the game, I know that killers powers were a lot less balanced and either were too strong or weak with little middle ground, I know vaulting for survivor used to be a lot stronger.

    title

"WAS KILLER REALLY THAT HARD BACK IN THE DAY?"

seems like you already have your answer... :p

  • I recomend shape for STBFL.

    clown for pop.

Considering we are expecting an influx of new players with the stranger things dlc. I think it makes sense for us to colectively think of a "focus on this" list.

I created one for me about a month ago, which was about a few weeks after I started playing the game. I only made an actual list for killers, survivors I didn't...I just went for the "meta" perks expecting to end on kate because thats the survivor I wanted to main.

Here's my list with a small explanation of why they are this high or low on the list

(Assuming you have every killer unlocked)

    1- leatherface

Barbecue and chilli is one of the best perks in the game and pretty much fits in any build.

Also, learning leatherface means you learned the basics of almost every killer

    2- Hag

-hex: ruin, to slow the game down just a little bit. It's an amazing perk, specially at low ranks. Gives you more time to try stuff out in the early game.

3/4- Hillbilly or Spirit(can' decide the order)

You want to unlock enduring with billy and spirit fury with spirit.

That's a combination of perks that most killers can use, making them very versatile.

Spirit in particular will teach you how to not just use your eyes. Good thing to learn early on.

    5- Clown

Pop goes the weasel is another great perk that can go in many killers. It's better in some, but certainly viable all around.

Bamboozle is good too, but it's a crutch perk, try not to depend on it.

    6- legion

Get discordance, one of, if not the best, detection perk. Literally slap this perk everywhere.

    7- Pig

Make your choice is the main goal here. But surveilance can be pretty good depending on the build aswell.

Some killers make great use of make your choice (including the hag, but ruin had priority)

    8- Doctor

Monitor and abuse is one of those perks that you can, but won't, use everywhere. But it is great on the right killers

Overcharge is niche, but it can do work too.

    9- Trapper

Brutal strenght, not amazing, but some killers make great use of it (like freddy, since everyone kinda drops the pallet early against him these days)

    10- Ghost face

Gonna be honest, not really sure which perks are good for ghost face, I just know that his perks are great on the next killer, so I put him here *shrugs

    11- Nurse

Best killer on pc. Hands down.( you should probably not play her as your first or even third killer)

Nurses calling = wall hacks, and wall hacks are amazing.

And thanatophobia has a few niche users coming right up.

    12- Plague.

Get that infectious fright and corrupt intervention for the other killers. Not amazing, but we passed the "amazing perk" phase.

    13- Freddy

His perks aren't super great. They are very specific, but can do wonders when they work.

    14- Michael Meyers

To be honest, he should probably be higher, but I got his 2 good perks on the shrine, so Im not sure where I would put him... but certainly above the last 2

    15- Huntress

Lullaby is the one good perk she has, and it's not really worth using since it usually vanishes before it has any major effect

    16- Wraith

As much as I like playing mr bing bong... no one needs his perks, you'll just poison the bloodweb. level him last

    So... thoughts?

feel free to check it out, but do keep in mind it's from a year and a half ago (don't necro it)

gotta love my "I'm played this game for a month or so, I know my stuff!" attitude 😂

  • yes. it makes you the bad guy.

doesn't matter how bad they were, now you're part of the bad guys.

I fully understand the frustation, but you should just play it out.

the guys might have just been trying to get the 4-man hatch achievement, and now they wasted a bunch of offerings.

good team =/= bully squad. and bully squads usually carry a couple flashlights.

keep in mind, they aren't to blame for the matchmaking. it's not like they seeked out a noob to play against

I'm not convinced slapping skillchecks onto everything would be the way forward- for hooks it works fine but for, say, wiggling I think it should be changed to something else as skillchecks wouldn't really work (pressing A/D over and over is okay as a mechanic tbh but imo should be changed to something else for those with bad wrists, and for consoles also needs a change because it completely ruins controllers. Don't get me started on the joy-cons I've ruined like this.)

actually, on controllers you can just spin the analog stick.

works the same, a lot less damage to the stick
