  • The essential problem with such statements is, that it is a blanket term that tries to encompass all skill levels of DBD. At the low ends killer reign supreme and always have: when you start out the game you don't know how to hide, you definitely don't know how to loop and you scare yourself out of your mind just by the sound of the repairing gens.

At high level play, even the soloQ players know what to do and that prioritising gens is key. At this level of play you wouldn't see much of a difference to pre-patch gameplay after a couple of days and now, with everyone using ProofThyself and toolboxes, gens fly nearly as fast as before. Still, games feel much fairer now that DH isn't in the mix and survivors usually team up on gens, so there is more opportunity for either side to make mistakes.

The wild s***show is the middlegrounds. Here players from all walks of life mingle and you can find the most green and the most competent players in one group. The players of true middeling skill feel the more oppressive nature of the new killers basekit and some of them had truly been boosted by their meta perk loadout in the past, and these players really plumeted after the patch and feel miserable match after match, till hopefully their MMR will stabilize.

You can't possible balance all of this with one swift swoop, both ends are incompatible with each other. If you tighten lose things up too much the survivors at the higher ends will dance on their killers graves, if you tighten it up too much those higher ups will have fun and interesting games, while those in the middle will lose their footing and suffer.

So yeah, at high levels the game is still survivor sided and always will be. If they are well coordinated and play it save/loop the killer for a good while they can still slam gens out like there is no tomorrow, generating immense pressure.

In the middel its a coin toss and we are plagued by frustrated killers who just try to secure a couple of kills via camping and tunneling or make it their entire strategy. Camping is probably the best variable that BHVR could and should influence next.

Damn who'd have guessed I know my stuff with Pyramid Man 😌💅

Right? I was totally surprised by that :D

My builds usually revovled around PainRes and Agitation, which also worked, but this build of yours is really, really solid. I had never thought that Lethal Pursuer offered so much value, but it pays to try something new.

Here's my perk build (ignore the addons).

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WM1UZYC773UC/unknown-84.png

Call Of Brine (The Onryō/Sadako) is just a very nifty perk. It's great for information, makes kicking generators worth it, and synergises incredibly well with both the basekit 2.5% regression we now have and Deadlock.

Speaking of, Deadlock (The Cenobite/Pinhead) is absolutely cracked right now. Not only is it also amazing for information, but provides some wonderful passive slowdown and makes the early game much more bearable.

I'm All Ears (The Ghost Face) is his best perk. Easily, absolutely, hands down his best perk beyond a shadow of a doubt. If you're not running it, you're throwing. It grants you so much information that translates to a free hit, if not a free down. Moreover, you can use this information to learn how a survivor acts after vaulting, so you're then able to adapt your strategy for the next time they do it and can get a free hit without even needing the perk to proc. It's genuinely the best perk in all of DBD for Pyramid Head and I am fully prepared to die on this hill.

Finally, Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis). Its a great early game perk, allowing you to instantly disrupt survivors as well as waste 2 Distortion tokens which would get in the way of your I'm All Ears plays. Not only that, but it also augments I'm All Ears (and if you choose to use it, Iridescent Seal of Metatron) into 8 solid seconds of aura reading. If a survivor stays at that structure they are downed provided you're semi-competent. I cannot stress enough how valuable that 8 seconds is, on a 40 second cooldown. The best part is that it's actually a 38 second cooldown, because it starts after 6 seconds (the usual length of the effect).

For add-ons, I'd advise Burning Man Painting (range +1.5m) and Wax Doll (range +1m), however duration add-ons aren't that bad either. The Crimson Ceremony Book is unironically pretty good too, after the rework to Haemorrhage.

Funnily enough, I'd actually advise against Tinkerer. The information is nifty but there are perks which give better information for him in particular. He doesn't have a movement ability so making it to the generator is difficult, and the Undetectable status effect is kinda wasted on him since every three seconds survivors will hear a very loud KRRRSCHHHHH. And you can't even use your power for a sneaky hit since the sound of him shoving his sword in, combined with the very telegraphed power location and incredibly audible dragging sound makes it practically worthless.

That's all, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm still working on a Pyramid Head guide (by this point it'll be the 2023 edition lmao) so anything you're curious about will be great to know so I can slap it in there.

Edit: didn't realise the thread was necro'd, sorry

Holy Guacamoly. I tried this build and it pretty much clicked with me and works so well. I slept on the new and improved Leathal Pursuer, you really feel the extra seconds as they often come into play when survivors would try to mindgame you or something.

Also, you get surprisingly fun early game opportunities: my last game on Father Chambells map I saw one survivor on the fair part of the mapmoving to the very edge of the map. I went over there and saw this big rock, that I had no business checking out: one punishment of the damned later a wounded Yui jumped out and had no where to run and went down. That game was cursed, though: I got 4 or 5 hooks before the first gen popped, because I was right in the action and everyone was scared of getting punished.

At another trial I found a hiding Feng kneeling in a push, thanks to Lethal Pursuer. After wounding her she ran into the shack and I hit her with the most obnoxious, blind punishment through the wall. Absolute money shot, and that generated so much early pressure.

For real: I will never understand what made the dude think it was a good idea to hang headfirst into that giant exhaust pipe, but it made for an entertaining movie.

  • Bioshock

    Killer: The Bruiser (Big Daddy)

Survivor: Jack. Maybe Atlas. Maybe Elizabeth with an interesting Boon: Realityshift. Realityshift has 1/2/3 charges per trial. A charge can be expent to repair a palette or spawn a crate.

Map: Rapture. Indoor map with lots of steam, light and especially water dripping and spilling all over the place. Some glorious panorama windows that show the ocean.

no I didn't Your arguement is 100% invalid. 1 google search? but the actual game itself didn't tell me... that's the point. it doesn't matter if I "missed out" the system as a whole was flawed by not tripling everyone no matter the current lvl or prestige. It was unfair from the get go even IF the announced it in game.. which they did not. saying that I didn't prestige prior makes literally no point in the matter because obviously i didn't because the old system would've made me throw away more of what I had already earned so ofc I wasn't prestiging but how can you say "I gave the order" that's far from the truth the system should've treated everyone fairly from the start. That doesn't make it any less of a rip off.

Obviously you are so desperate to his this perceived injustice to you rectivied, that you are incapable of reasoing and understanding the points I am throwing into the ring, but just cherry picking the parts that you need for your narrative.

In this case any further discussion would be just a waste of energy. Have a nice day, but please, one last time: try to cope.

This picture only indicates the old prestige system pre-patch. I have opened a ticket and have gotten no response in almost a month now. The fact is saying "I should've known" would be valid of the actual game itself had informed me beforehand and it didn't.. Saying that "word of mouth" is proper information is another moot position to stand on. The system should've been fair and simple for everyone not those who are "In the know".. and everyone's prestige should've simply tripled versus only tripling "certain characters" and you're supposed to know when we don't even tell you in the actual game itself.... Nah my account was 100% gutted and ripped in 1/3rd of what I should've had. what makes it fair to give to only certain players but not the others? what makes me less important? because I didn't click 1 button i wasn't even told that I should click? i've been swindled into playing 5-20,000 more matches to get to where I should be after the conversion into the new system.. I've played maybe 10 this entire month and dc'd from almost all of them because it's 100% demotivating... I was robbed and ripped off and alot of the ppl here don't care because it wasn't them it happened to.. but it did in fact happen and it was 100% BS.

I am sorry bro, but you are coping. You weren't listening to what I wrote one post earlier, so I will spell it out again, but in simpler terms.

    1) What gave you the idea to prestige your characters? The pictures I showed you were valid up until the very hour of the patch, which was the 20th of July. Up until that point quite literally nothing had changed from all the years prior, ie if you prestiged any character, you would loose all your stuff and gain better loot finding percentages and bloody cosmetics.

    2) No, information shouldn't be hidden behind "hearsay" and "word of mouth", but it wasn't. It was as easily found only as doing ONE google search on the dbd website. So what gave you the confidence that it was ok to prestige your characters with irreplacable items from past events?

Claiming that your account was 100% gutted and ripped in 1/3rd simply isn't true. You literally GAVE the order to do so, because you failed to research your stuff before acting on hearsay. I repeat that this is very tragic and you have my sympathy, but this change wasn't a thing of a couple of hours before you had to act, you hat several weeks of real time to decide on the best course of action. And for failing to do so, everything is, sadly, on you.

  • @Sparks741420 said:

The simple fact is THEY KNEW this system would create more grind and they STOLE trillions of bps from thousands of accounts and literally gave some of us a few red icons to show for it.. My entire account has been gutted for a month now and i've placed numerous tickets.. now i'm HERE and i'm not the ONLY ONE.. That's why i've basically quit I play 1 or two games then DC because I don't even want to play the game.. Most of my DBD Swf friends and I started playing other games for this fact alone.. My group of 50 has basically died.. It's 100% unfair and the system was more then just demotivating it was highway robbery on a very very large scale.

Oh boi ... I read through most of your comments, but I am responding to this one here because its one of the more vivid ones.

What happened to you is pretty tragic, but I still don't get the big picture. You obviously knew how prestigeing pre-patch worked, as you had myriads of items stored, most characters with all perks etc. and you had a certain system in place when you would deem it profitable or whatever to prestige someone.

You claim to not have been up to date to the news and not being following social media, which is fair, I can't stand most social media on a good day, BUT (here comes my "but") apparentyl you must have heared something and gotten ahold of some of the buzz because why would suddenly prestige loads of your characters?

The thing is, at this point, no matter your stance on social media etc., you should have looked up information yourself. At the very least you should have asked somehone who was in the know.

"Guys! I heared that if you bring everyone to P3 before the next patch, you get a big reward." - "Ok, uhm .. whats with the stuff? Do I lose the event items?" - "I don't know? Lets ask around."

Up until the very last second of the pre-patch, if you wanted to prestige a character you saw this here:

    image.png

and if you tried to consume the center node, this here:

    image.png

This was the same as you had seen before. It literally told you exactly what would be happening. You either blindly followed someones advice who didn't know better, or you failed to look up the information regarding the upcoming changes yourself. Nevertheless, up until that point you got a clear description ingame that you "Lose all items, add-ons, perks & offerings for this character."

I know that you are angry now for having lost all your stuff and perk levels, but sadly, thats on you. Have you tried asking DBD to roll back your account? Its definitely no standart procedure, but MAYBE, if you ask nicely, they can do this? I doubt it, but open a ticked and tell your story. But try to keep a nice tone. But you must be aware that you would lose the last 2 weeks worth of progress if this would work.

The other option is to suck it up and game on. If you prestiged most of your characters then you got basically all perks unlocked for everyone, safe for 9 or 10 universal perks. The items hurt, but in the end, event items are just nice to look at, but not essential.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

Frankly, if you get a perk to tier 1, you're golden. It usually only takes a few bloodweb levels before tier 2 and 3 show up, in my experience. What sucked was trying to find the tier 1 in the bloodweb that you wanted before the update. Getting 2 and 3 after that is easy.

Especially since you don't lose 'em anymore for advancing your tier. Everything you unlock now you unlock for ever.

On a side note, speaking about 1st tier killer problems: during the 6th anniversary event I managed to get all but 2 of the killer roster up to P1 and therefore they were all elevated to P3 in the afermath. But now I got the super demotivational problem: if I wanna get the bloody cosmetics, the first step is P4 -- which garners me the bloody weapons -- which I already got from P1-ing them pre-patch. So the P4 reward is empty and got no reward. The first time I stumbled about this my dissappointment was immesurable, and my day was ruined.

Why though? It was a great perk for survivors and killers had to actually be good to get around it..

There have been written literal essays extolling the hideous depths of DHs deprevity and how it drained the life blood out of the game. You might have a different opinion, which is fair, but by now basically everyone agrees that DH was severely overtuned and carried many survivors.

But just search a bit around here, its really easy to find one giant block of text that explains it all.

  • I have downed survivors with a 5th stap when there were only 3 remaining. You need to stay attentive and get a bit lucky, but its definitely possible to do so. But with 2 survivors remaining its basically impossible.

  • I remember when Billy would routinely get stuck and end his chainsaw sprint on the high hanging (ie above his head) branches on the Eiry map. I don't know if this got resolved by now, but it made playing Billy on the Eiry nearly as painful as playing Trapper.

Just force them out. They’re pathetic but if you’re that salty that you lost 1 game that you can’t even look at them and hit them to get some extra BP that says more about you than the survivors.

Its not that I am that "salty that I can't even look at them", its more of a "don't feed the troll" situation. I know that its an impossible fight, but I won't support their toxic ways by giving them what they want. At every point they can just leave and save everyone involved time. If the killer doesn't walk any closer in the first 20s, its pretty save to assume that they won't show up later, but for some survivors the urge to BM is jsut that stronk.

They're getting me. I have 6,500 hours and I think like 50% of the killer games I played today had MULTIPLE survivors with less than 10 hours. Sometimes collectively the group had a combined amount of 10 when I checked.

It gets to the point where I will intentionally throw and make horrible plays just because I have 8 hooks at 5 gens with no progress and these guys are just gonna have a miserable time. Then I start whiffing, walking into obvious camped pallets just so these poor people don't have their first experience in a game ruined by someone with a thousand times the hours they have :/

Thats really cute of you ... but thats not what the MMR should provide, yet it happens all the time. I don't know how you guys always know the others game hours, though. Whenever I click on them pre-match, 85% of the profiles are private ... or is there a ... trick? 😲

PEGI is the most inaccurate system when it comes to this age ######### anyways. I would absolutely let my child (if i had one) play this game if they are older than 10 years old. He will suffer and feel joy just like i did and no one can tell me otherwise.

Someone who can't handle blood is clearly not ready for life. And if you get scared by some spooky plague lady or some random defect with a chainsaw in DBD then you clearly aren't ready for anything.

It's a game. Who cares about the rating anyways as long as everyone is having fun.

I played the most brutal and violent games and even watched mortal kombat gameplays religiously and even played their mobile game when it released.

I never was negatively affected in any kind of way and i will never be. A kid won't get trauma from seeing blood in a video game and if he does then either he has some blood related phobia or his parents are snowflakes who would get their arms and legs off to protect him from the spooky violent video games.

This isn't the goddamn 90's or whatever where everyone thought that video games were the spawn of satan and your child will become a mass shooter because he played doom.

    Age rating my #########.

Thats why this stuff is mostly "parental guidance". Most kids can deal with this stuff, some are more sensitive, so parents should know a bit about what their kids are doing, and guide them along, but most also know that they will never be able to control everything their kids consume these days, so I guess most allow their kids of 12+ to play whatever they fancy.

    Guess, more fool me.

Yeah ... you play nice and then it gets to their heads how awesome they play and its some "gg ez, babykiller" in the post game chat :P But well, these are like all 15ys old who think they are the greatest gift to earth. • @INoLuv said:

Use kindred instead, everyone is allergic to it, they prefer to run around the hook while the killer camps instead of doing gens

Bond+Kindred+OpenHanded+BT/OtR is the way to go, baby!

Survivors are somehow allergic to this, as you say, and claim that SWFs basically get this information without burning up a perk slot, but this people totally sleep on the fact that SEEING is infinitely superior to HEARING! Yeah, it might be nice to hear your buddy say "I am coming to shack from the mid of the map with the killer in tow!!!", but its something totally different to actually see everyone on half the map around you and getting a very good general feel of whats actually going on. No one (unless they are really professional gamers for a living and train for this) can actually describe everything so fast and vividly like a quick glance around can do.

And Kindred with OpenHanded is like using sanctioned wall haxx. If anyone is hooked you basically see everything the killer does on literally half the map. Its so strong that you might be tempted to leave someone hanging :P

So everyone laughing about these kinda builds should trey them out themselves before scoffing.

It would be cool if after you open the gate you could go to the barrier and hold a button to escape like the survivors. It doesnt even have to end the match the survivors can still stay in and do their healing and tbagging till the very last second if they want too.

This is actually a pretty cool idea! Or just literally hook yourself for failing The Entity :P

  • Just 10min ago I had a pretty fun match with Bubba. It was on one of the big farm maps. Got a pretty early down on one survivor, then chased another one who was clearly an expert looper and awesome survivor. I wasted a bit too much time on them, but broke chase early enough to catch another survivor.

Then I ping ponged between the two already on hook until one of them was sacrificed; actually I semi tunneled them: I was actually chasing another survivor, but heared the healing grunts and this sealed their fate. I got my second kill when the 4th gen popped, leaving just one remaining and I got no real three-gen, but a long line, so it was workable. In the end we had a pretty intense cat and mouse game, but with no real outlier on the gen setup I could pretty much patrol them well enough until I found one of the survivors out in the open. The last survivor got the hatch.

If I hadn't done the semi tunnel in the midgame I would probably have lost this one with a 1k max. The game is still swingy and the winning side is usually decided pretty early, but it didn't feel like I was totally dominating or in absolute control of the game. Not every game is this balanced, but its not an outlier, either.

  • @DoritoHead said:

Whilst that's true that you've had to put BP into a character, the system rewards players who have perks unlocked and have prestiged. At level 50 you hadn't prestiged a character and due to not getting many prestige levels it's likely that you did not have too many perks on that character either, as the catch-up mechanic rewarded prestige levels based on the amount of perks that were obtained on that character.

That clears things up. Thanks ^^

  • @DarkSkysz said:

I noticed some inconsistency with the prestige 'compensation?' after the update. We was not supposed to get more prestige levels if the character had more blood points invested?

Then why a character level 50 with all perks unlocked is only prestige 1 after the update, while a character that was prestige 1 with almost nothing is now prestige 3?

I had one survivor, ie Jill, who I had at P3 and each and every perk unlocked, so that I could use her for different builds. For killers I did the same with Pyramid Head, my main. During the PTB Jill got boosted up to P11 and Pyramid Head to P10.

After the 6.1 patch both just got to P9. I don't care, as there are actually no cosmetics or other bonuses unlockable right now, but it seems that the catch up system got a bit bugged.

  • As a fan of the first hour of the scourge hook PainRes I must say that this change is beyond tone deaf.

  • Yeah, we might have all internalized that Bill is part of the DBD cosmos, but he is actually a licensed character, so they would have to kinda buy him in.

That being said, I am calling a Doctor and Artist DLC.

  • The thing that stuck with me is how utterly awkward most people looked while standing in this big, empty space, not knowing what to do with their hands, so they just let their arms dangle or did weird things. Not hating on anyone, but better put a desk up there and let them sit or whatever. I could hardly concentrate on what they were saying and I am not someone who usually puts a high priority on this kind of stuff. Thats just my 2 cent sidenote.

The Meet your Maker game could be fun, I somewhat like the setting, but normally I am not cometitive enough to do well in this kind of games and inevitable get washed away in a tidalwave of optimized raiding.

The Brawler panel was too short, but this could be fun little game, I might keep an eye on that one.

I couldn't care less for any mobile game, as my phone suxx hard, but if you are into this kinda stuff, why not? There are probably a lot franchises less cool then dinosaurs ... BUT gatcha games with big tiddied anime gurls of every variety exist, so I guess it will be a kinda hard sale. Best luck to them, though.

Finally the art style of Project S is pretty cool, I am not too sold, though, on this highly stylized puzzle angle, but it also worked for The Witness, so I am not judging too harshly before I see the endproduct.

Oh, and of course Rebecca looks too precious! We need to protecc her. And Ada just oozed coolness, like we know her from the games. Wesker .. I like his style and am eager to see how his power works. Feeling like a mastermind, though? Huh, I am curious how they are going to pull that off.

I got all of these saws relatively quickly, as I only started to really main Billy back in November of last year. Yesterday, a hacker came into my stream and told me that my MMR was 1835 on Billy, which, considering the max is 1900, likely means I am one of the highest MMR Hillbillies out there.

Why is this relevant to the topic of Nurse? Well, recently, Nurse has come into a lot of hot-water, and the murmurs of Twitter indicate some people want ranged addons nerfed, a total addon makeover, or even a massive power overhaul. I'd like to give my thoughts on why I feel Nurse is necessary to the meta.

The maps. The maps are THE MOST significant problem with the game. Eyrie of Crows, Badham Preschool, Garden of Joy, Mother's Dwelling, Temple of Purgation, Grim Pantry, Cowshed, Rottenfields, Rancid Abattoir, Groaning Storehouse, Suffocation Pit, Ormond, Blood Lodge, Gas Heaven, Disturbed Ward, Haddonfield, and Gideon Meat Factory all vary in how egregious they favor survivor.

Dead by Daylight is a complicated game that takes many hours to master. You aren't really very good at this game till you have around 800 or so hours played. And even then, you will still have significant issues trying to play against players who have near as many hours as I have. If you put me in a lobby with anyone sub-800 hours, I will chew them up and spit them out hastily. They probably will not have a fun match. Maps feel as if they are tailored toward the middle of the pack, sub 200-hour, survivor. I would augur that most maps are made with the mindset that mediocre skilled-survivors can get a 2-man out versus a good killer. If you think about this, it makes the most sense why BHVR would want to retain mid-to-new players.

As far as BHVR is concerned, I am a tapped revenue source. I have 5000+ hours in this game. I will buy non-licensed killers/survivors with shards. I own all of the cosmetics I care to own. If I purchase this game for a friend, their skill level will nowhere near reflect mine, and they will be massively out-gunned in my MMR if we SWF. I do not make BHVR much money. They do not balance maps for me, they balance it for the players who make them money. New players, who might buy older DLC, or buy cosmetics I already own. Players who can SWF with their friends and be relative to their skill-level.

So, let's address the issue of maps. Maps that are tailor-made for mediocre survivors to be able to drop safe pallets, run to the next tile, and hopefully loop the killer for 30-40 seconds, become MASSIVELY in favor of survivor in the higher divisions of MMR. When you get survivors who have played this game for 2,000+ hours, you get survivors who tie multiple different structures into one, long giant loop that wastes your time significantly.

You can play your killer well, maybe even perfectly, make almost all the right judgement calls, get downs quickly, pressure the right areas, get the most value out of your perks, drop chase when necessary, tunnel when available -- and still lose. You can play your killer better and with more skill, muscle memory and reaction times than the survivors, and they get to win because the map is one-sided. The survivor can spawn in and win the game because you decided to play Hillbilly on Garden of Joy, or Myers on Cowshed. They got the better RNG. Or even worse, they bring a map offering for a one-sided map. A 5,000 bloodpoint offering can dictate who wins.

This brings me to Nurse. Nurse, when played optimally, skillfully, and well, can deal with ANY map in this game. She ignores the fundamentals of the game, which is valuable, because the game is fundamentally flawed. You can spawn in on Mother's Dwelling, Cowshed, or Badham Preschool as Nurse, and know that dependent on your skill, you stand a reasonable chance of doing well against the survivors. Those broken, overpowered loops that have existed for 6+ years don't matter to you, because you can ignore them. Nurse is a killer that your raw skill -- and not RNG -- can dictate the outcome. This is necessary.

I'm a Hillbilly main. Some people think he is the hardest killer in the game to play. I really can't say, because I'm still trying to master Nurse & Blight. But it is immutably true that is a weak killer. He is not relevant to the game any longer. I often feel pressured by the maps to play Nurse & Blight because it's just not fun playing a killer who is hard-countered by dropping a pallet and then holding W away. When paired against competent survivors, I stand not much chance on most of these maps. I understand this, and I am not asking for the maps to be tailor made for Billy. But I would most certainly like many of the maps nerfed.

There exist many RNG setups in the game that become exhaustingly overpowered when a skillful survivor attempts to loop them. The map RNG has no contingencies to mitigate the chances of spawning multiple window tiles touching each other. The generic tile-strength rates long-wall-pallet tiles to be the same strength as L-wall pallet tiles, and four lanes. This is insane that long-walls have not ever been nerfed.

Temple of Purgation can get unforgiving RNG with how many safe pallets it gets on an already large map. Disturbed Ward has one of the most overpowered main buildings in the game, that can be easily tied into the surrounding jungle gym tiles. Suffocation Pit's middle is one giant, window-mirroring tile stack and near-anywhere in that map you're hit from, you can usually make it to middle, and you're safe. Groaning Storehouse is huge, and the main is overpowered. Blood Lodge is huge and gets too many pallets. Gas Heaven is huge and gets too many pallets. Rancid Abattoir can have some of the WORST RNG next to shack, and is too easy to turn into one big loop. Rotten Fields is too big, has the worst generator spread, and gets generic, strong pallets that are easily tied into existing jungle gyms, making the loops much bigger. Cowshed exists. Haddonfield has deadzones, but the houses are beyond overpowered, with their insane window vaults. Grim Pantry main needs to be nerfed. All 5 versions of Badham Preschool has 3 main buildings with BUSTED windows. Gideon Meat Factory is one of the stupidest, lazy designs they've ever concocted. Literally 15+ safe-pallets that require no thought to tie together.

Ormond is too big and gets too many pallets. Dead Dawg has too many breakable walls. Eyrie of Crows is giant, and it's littered with safe pallets. Garden of Joy -- the most recent map they've made -- has literal infinite windows in main. You can vault the window indefinitely. And the motel loop easily feeds into shack, which can be tied together with pallets to lead to main. It's one big, busted loop.

I was happy to hear about the perks being nerfed on both sides, but I only hated Dead Hard for how much time it would buy you in chase. If Dead Hard didn't abuse the already broken maps, its effects would've been lessened. Perks were an issue, but they were just one side of an issue that is larger. Breaking pallets quicker, attaining Blood Lust faster, are meaningless when these maps are in such a bad state and there is no limit on RNG in higher MMR.

I really appreciate your post and view on the game and I would sign nearly everything you said about the maps and problem with map design.

But the most fascinating part of your post was that DBD-stats page :D Didn't know about that one and its so interesting. Of course, as a killer main, I was interested in comparing our stats and, fine tuning and some outliers aside, I noticed that you got a bit more then 4x my stats in most grindy sections. And low and behold, I got 1.2k hours vs your 5+k hours. This consistency is really amazing and actually shows that the game is probably more balanced then we give it usually credied. Or maybe not "balanced" balanced, but we are both affected by the balancing in a similar way.

Well, wish before the chapter the broken things could be fixed.

Anyway, it ll take 2-3 days and then after new chapter as survivors you gonna play just against nurses and blights and not against new killer.

Yeah, because us killer mains wanna keep the new killers MMR as low as possible until the 13th rolles up an we can finally try to Adapt Wesker.

I havent been this excited for a new chapter in a long time ngl.

Finally something were we two agree on all fronts! Resident Evil 2nd chapter Hype Highfive!

Lol it's all good. BTW in hindsight the tone of my reply reads a bit harsh; that's not intended. If anything I was amused and slightly confused.

Don't worry, I took it as such and was amused/confused myself. I guess I somehow conflated your two avatars, even though they show the Nurse and the Plague.

    Are you lost?

Why are you tagging Laluzi when I'm the one who said what you're quoting there, in a completely different thread?

I... am confused now myself. I guess I somehow messed up? I'll try to sort my head out tomorrow ^_-

I know you're being sarcastic but overall BBQ use has dropped significantly since the points were removed.

People really want to think BBQ made them lose their matches

I know, but in the last couple of days there have been a few unironic topics lamenting exactly this, ie that a good portion of killers were still using BBQ, ergo we all lied in the past.

Still, BBQ was such a well designed package: everyone wanted to use it for the BPs, and if single-handedly prevented more camping and tunneling via its carrot method, then any stick could ever do: at the very least you would want 3 stacks, if not 4, and after hooking you got a new target a good jog away, so someone else could unhook your latest victim. Purrrrrfect.

Oh well, I wonder what some of the killers are gonna do now?

"If you're complaining that you should be able to goof around the whole match and still win... I don't even know how to argue against that kind of twisted logic."

Tjey can still do that, just not at the mid-high MMR.

Just lose a good couple of games and they should be matched again with killers that are no match to their tactics of choice. :)

I would argue that killer is actually worse if you're experienced with only a few killers. For example, if I main Nurse, I'm going to have SUPER high MMR, right? Well, if I switch to Wraith, who I've never played, then I'm still going to have basically the same MMR on him.

Killers don't have separate MMR, your highest killer sets an average. At least that's how it seems to work, as my Nurse will face a team, I'll switch to a different killer after, and get the SAME team. Doesn't matter who I'm playing.

Other than that, I agree. Escaping isn't even a factor in determining skill, as survivor games are completely dependent on teammates.

Not entirely true, but close. Even though all the killers have different powers etc. the basics are the same for everyone.

Afaik 70% of your highest killer MMR is set as the baseline for everyone else and you can increase their MMR from there on separately.

I have to admit even as a killer main, I am watching survivors not do gens and also not take chase and also letting people die on hook while im across the map.

Every game is either seal team six, or one good player paired with 3 potatoes

I'm considering just killing the potatoes and giving the good person hatch from now on.

I've been so tilted at the game lately and venting my anger in an unhealthy way towards my fellow players, and feel kind of guilty to be honest.

Lets all try to be positive influences in our community again people until this dust settles.

I feel you. I remember more games then I care to admit were I just wanted to go in there and try to go for 8 hooks without killing anyone, but "lol, to keep the tension up and make them throw in real effort I will tunnel that first survivor there, so that I got already two hooks on them", then haul my ass over to the completely opposite side of the map, and the survivors still let their mate die on the hook.

I know, I know, "don't tunnel you scumbag", but really, there can't have been even a hint of a terror radius anywhere around the hook.

I just wish they would remove the annoying noise.

Like fade out the noise over a couple of failed checks without inout.

Like: ok, thanks Mr Killer that you wanna gift me the hatch and haul me over there personally. I wouldn't mind if at all of just the sound wasn't so annoying.

I really waited 7 minutes to play killer, to have a 5 minute game, because the survivors dc and still killed themselves against a pig, really the worst time to play with killer is this, I've never seen this in my life, take 7 minutes but on the survivors side find instantly,

Play during the prime hours in the evening, when all the peeps come together to play SWF with their friends.

Its not back to the instant queues of the past, but I get sub 1min queues during that time.

  • The Horder/Franklin build is still pretty effective with Pinhead. It sometimes face you with the horrid decision making of pursuing the survivor you just wounded or picking up that juicy cube in front of the window :)

My favorite build is Blast Mine, Flash Bang, Head on, Quick and Quiet. My goal every game is to blind and stun the killer as many times as possible. I think the most I ever got was a game against wraith, 5 head ons, 3 blast mines, 2 or 3 flash bangs. The most blast mines I have had in a game is 4, it was against a nemesis with PR and Pop before the patch.

That's basically my build, too, but I more often than not sub out the Flashbang for a Red Herring. That is a very situational perk, but because no one plays it the killer has no chance in suspecting its in play.

Granted, I don't get much value out of it, but that's not the goal of a build like this, with this you wanna have fun and be happy when things work out.

I once had such a game were everything worked like clockwork: I had been working on my second gen when the killer (a plague) showed up. I played it save and abandoned the gen before she could puke on me, but trapped it with a Blastmine. She walked over to the tile were I had run to, but when I quick'n'quieted into a locker, the red herring proc made her return to the gen and she looked for such a long time around the gen, in the bushes and the lockers for the survivor that must have been so feisty behind her back. Just before the Blastmine ran out she gave up and kicked the gen. It was a thing of beauty and wasted some 50s, I guess?

Don't expect such results every time with such a build, but when it works you feel like Megamind.
