  • I don't use ruin and gen perks in general. With good tracking and quick chases you don't need any gen regression/slowdown, as that happens naturally when survivors have no choice, but to get off the gens. My builds consist of tracking perks and perks that help shorten chases

  • I'll see the cosmetics first. If I like them I'll buy the second rift. I still have the 1k cells i got back from the first one.

Well, I hope they anticipate a mass amount of noobies to be strolling through soon because all this does Is hinder your dedicated fan base of players instead. All because they want to cater to "newer" players without actually learning how to play the game. Great decisions BHVR. Sigh

I don't necessarily agree with you. I've seen a lot of mixed feedback on the recent direction that BHVR are taking and although a lot of the dedicated fans are not happy, there are just as many, if not more who actually appreciate that things are getting mixed up. At the end of the day, even some (arguably, a lot) of the people who are complaining right now will adapt and continue to play their favourite game.

My theory is (and I might be wrong) is that the ghostface and stranger things chapters kind of flopped and failed to retain too many new players, so perhaps the devs recognised this and are looking into ways to improve the new player experience going forward (aka focus on long-term game health). This makes sense to me.

  • @casualobserver - very wholesome post, thanks for sharing your experience! It's good to see that new players are appreciating some of the recent changes. I think the devs have been doing a lot lately in order to make the game more welcoming to noobies and it's good to see evidence that it is yielding results.

If I'm honest sometimes the salt from nerfs is hilarious

I agree, but it's also a bit depressing to read sometimes, to be honest.

Ruin will rarely be used after this. There will be absolutely no reason to use it. It's going to have all of the limitations of the old ruin with no upside. They should have deleted it entirely rather than insult our intelligence with this "it's going to be an OP late game perk" bull-shite.

I don't know.. I guess I'm a minority on this, but I've always debated that ruin was/is a bad perk and I don't run it anyway. The thing is it helps you stomp bad teams which you would beat anyway and at the same time good teams work through it just fine, so to me it's just a wasted perk slot which could be used for a much more useful tracking/chase perk. I'm actually hoping that killers will now experiment with new builds and see that the whole "I need ruin to do good" is just a placebo. My personal opinion though.

Regarding the actual change - I might actually use it now with the change - not because it will be strong, but because it introduces a new mechanic that might be fun to play around with.

but i think the ptb will be...… mories and camping farm of destruction

Oooh, I did not think of that. Ok, you're right. People taking out their frustrations on others who haven't necessarily done anything to deserve it. Then both parties coming to the forums to talk about their experience.. I see you. I

  • I don't know, I think it's funnier now.

Once the PTB is out, some people will have actually tested things and would potentially know what they're talking about, meaning much less ridiculousness, unfortunately!

  • I like the change - it actually adds a really interesting gameplay mechanic. I didn't use ruin before and I probably won't be using it often going forward, but it's definitely more interactive now.

Thanks for replying. How many hours do you have in the game according to steam?

Needs to be a entity style cross hair or no dice.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968347#Comment_968347

Seems a lot of people arguing for it are usually inexperienced Huntress players who are trying to get into it. It might not be the worse idea to add a cross hair addon that's a brown rarity. Can probably change the blindness addons for it.

    Deal :)

  • Once the rift closes, the shards will be disabled, so you can't claim them on the next rift.

I think that you can still "save" the bloodpoint rewards though. I'm not 100% sure on this, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I don't know. I think there was a whole thing about people using them on PC. I think having the option to put a crosshair would help new players get into the new killer, but I don't think it should be built in to the base kit.

Perhaps build a crosshair into an addon like the plaid flannel for nurse and the addon that shows doc where his shock is going to land?

Im guessing no more expensive than any 1 piece of a character's cosmetic. You might have cheap "common" ones as well as more expensive "very rare" ones. Maybe we can even get holiday inspired moris later down the line, like having Trapper smash a pumpkin on someones head instead of a beartrap.

For some reason i thought that mori animations might be expensive to create, but you're probably right in that they're probably no more difficult than cosmetics. No idea.

I'm starting to dream now though.

Imagine having this within the rift - for example, in this one trapper gets 1 animation on the free track and 1 animation on the premium track. To make it even, survivors can get unique taunts, e.g. Claud picks up a flower from the ground and tosses it at the killer.

More animations might incentivise killers to bring mories more frequently, which survivors probably won't enjoy, but making cypress base kit could alleviate that.

  • @LordGlint said:

They could have moris be released pretty often like they do with various other cosmetics. Why stop at 2? I dont think this idea is too far off either with them now giving us the option to decorate the hooks using charms. They said they're adding charms to the store...so maybe moris can be in the future.

Yeah, I'd love that. The only thing is, I don't know how hard these animations are to make. They might end up pretty expensive

Only thing who doesn't know how his power works here is you. There's already a skill curve on his Chainsaw imagine being forced to keep holding M2 in Loops if you messed up and you have no choice but to keep holding it because either scenario punishes you with a cooldown unless the Rev is guaranteed which I highly doubt if the Survivor is good. There's also the fact that you're comparing Leatherface to Billy who has to micro manage his Chainsaw bar at the same time or the fact that LF has zero skill involve?

Again he M1'd you and gave you distance then help you saved a Pallet for another day. He also has no choice but to play as any other M1 killer at that point. The only thing at a disadvantage here is Milly.

If you have to bring up the fact that powers is inconsistent is Freddy. When he's a better clown has no distance loss for spamming his power while moving.

I think you meant to quote someone else, bud. You're kind of just repeating what I've already said.

  • I think that your suggestion to reduce coop efficiency could backfire quite badly. Probably the worst feeling I get as killer is hook someone and see 3 people working on 3 different gens on BBQ. That's when I know I'm in trouble, as my opponents are pressuring 3 different parts of the map and I can only interrupt 1 at a time. Survivors stacking on a single gen is actually a good thing and more often than not works in favour of the killer. That's why perks like pop are so powerful. The only reason I would ever stack on a gen as survivor is if I'm trying to farm Bloodpoints and want the co-op points.

Now with your suggested change, youre introducing even more of an incentive for survivors to split up and work on different gens. I hope it doesn't become a thing.

Yeah that'd be cool, being able to select which Mori. And I've hardly played mortal combat, but they've done everything so it'd be hard not to at least somewhat copy a cool kill move lol

I thought so :) and just to clarify, I didn't say that to bash your ideas - I really liked them! The only thing I disagree with is your opinion about the current huntress animation. Why would you ever want to remove that? It's the most brutal mori that we have!

  • @kreeper124 are these ideas inspired by mortal kombat by any chance? 😀

On topic. I've heard an idea being tossed around a while ago that I really liked - design 1 or 2 new mories for each killers and allow players to buy them through the store - same as cosmetics. I would actually love it if this were a thing.

  • I do agree that some maps need to get reworked, but I also enjoy perk changes. It insentivises playing around with new/different builds

  • I dislike this map both as survivor and killer. It's good for stealth killers, but it's a chore for others like Billy, huntress, nurse, plague, etc.

  • I'd say it depends on the platform youre playing on and what you want to get out of it. I personally don't regret buying it, because I really like some of the survivor and killer teachables. However, the demo itself is almost unplayable on ps4, due to how badly optimised it is. As soon as I get into a chase my framerate drops down to 10 fps or lower, making the game almost unplayable. I haven't experienced this with any other killer. If you're playing on a more powerful platform though, I'd say go for it, because the killer is still really fun

Just release the charge in the first instances and you get to swing practically instantly.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/967736#Comment_967736

Surely you jest? No other killer gets to do this and the time lapse is so short is not reactable at all. What's to understand about something so... Basic?

Not at all. I just assumed that you didn't know how the power works, because I didn't believe anyone would complain about this. Like others have said, around half of the roster has a power which they can cancel without a downside and people use that to trick their opponents into putting themselves in an unsafe position. Having these mechanics in the game adds more variety to the chase. Knowing a Billy can feather his chainsaw and punish you for running circles around a single pallet incentivises survivors to add variety to their gameplay and get a bit more creative in a chase. I'd hate to see that go away.

  • He can only cancel his chainsaw instantly if he hasn't charged it. Otherwise he has to wait for the charge to go down on its own and in that time he's stuck in animation.

I recommend playing a few Billy matches to understand his power

  • BBQ is not the strongest tracking perk - It's a decent tracking perk which also doubles your BP income. Because of that I never take it off any killer build - what's the point in playing if you're only going to earn half of what you could :)

  • optimise the game for ps4 and the other consoles

  • I think they should increase gen times to 10-15 minutes. 3 is not enough - if it were only 3 minutes, survivors might eventually be able to complete a gen. We can't have that

  • Or better yet, Noed is no longer a hex perk. Once the gates are powered all survivors are put into the dying state and 2 of them chosen at random are sacrificed to the entity. These sacrifices count as hooks so you also get your bbq stacks. The killer receives mapwide deerstalker.

How about that? Still too weak? 🤪

  • I think what the devs are focusing with the new perks (last 2-3 chapters) are builds, not necessarily to be strong or their own. They are releasing a bunch of perks that combo great with others e.g. inner strength+head on/ds/q&q, fixated+sprint burst + 2 other gen jockey perks, breakout+mettle of man, wglf, bt and so on. This at least for me breaks up the meta a little bit by providing options of fun new full builds to play around with.

Forgive me for expressing myself wrong.I mean that with these double points, there are many toxic people, and that more than an event is a hunt for toxic people

Oh, i understand. I don't necessarily agree though. I've been grinding quite a lot since the event started, but haven't met more toxicity than usual. On the contrary - a lot of people keep burning cakes and streamers (before this event i hadn't seen a single streamer that i didn't burn for at least a month). Is it possible that because you expect people to be more wholesome during events, you're a bit more upset when you encounter toxic behaviour?

  • @Nobody95 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/965324#Comment_965324

More than an event this is a hunt for toxic that are believed to be good

I don't understand, sorry. What do you mean?

  • Not the only one, but probably part of the minority. I would wager that most people grind extra-hard during events

  • @Frank_Sriracha

Both sides have a set of "rules" for each other:

    • survivors for killers: don't tunnel, camp, slug for the 4k, play spirit, etc etc.
    • killers for survivors: don't destroy my ruin in 30 seconds, don't use unfair loops, blind, use DS, use BT, spam crouch, spam flashlights, bring more than 1 toolbox, play in SWF, etc etc.

There are many more examples from both sides, but this should be enough to demonstrate the point - it's not one-sided at all.

In general, inexperienced players try to impose these rules on the other side, but my opinion is that everyone should play the way they want and accept the consequences of that decision - don't play by the other team's "rules" and upset them or play by their rules and sacrifice a bit of your power.

I personally avoid doing things that I would dislike done to me and follow my own rulebook from the other role.

  • I feel like Dwight has gotten a lot of really cool cosmetics recently. I'd personally like to see that skin, but on another character for variety sake. Perhaps Jeff. Iimagine a cupid outfit with the face paint - that would be hella creepy

On topic: Sometimes insecure people need validation and when they don't receive the attention they require they proceed to seek it from others through insults/bragging, etc. Don't get stressed out over it.

  • @SambaSaw said:

That is precisely what I suggest. I mean everyone with a decent PC can record. This would also be a great thing for people that can't record such as myself because we could record the game /specific moments afterwards with 60 fps on a higher resolution.

That's actually an interesting idea. I support. :) Not for videos or anything like that, but I bet being able to review what your teammates/opponents did throughout the match could help you improve your tactical gameplay

  • Hmm.. this is already a thing. PS4 has the built in option to record the last x minutes of gameplay and there are a bunch of different recording software on pc. Not sure about xbox, but it's probably similar to ps4... or are you asking for something that can view other people's perspectives as well?

  • Slippery meat is OP, but what i really need is a nerf to Streetwize. Easily the strongest perk in the game..

  • @LegionGhostface said:

So I just finished seeing the leak of this tome and devs, why are you featuring character-specific challenges that we have to buy the DLC for? There’s challenges you have to complete as Jane and Doctor, and I don’t have those DLCs. We have to purchase both the tome and DLCs that accompany it? You’re literally expecting us to waste $25+ just to complete all of the challenges fully. Please reconsider or add a mechanic that allows us to play as these characters whilst selecting the challenge if we don’t own them.

The same post you read literally says: "It's possible to reach the epilogue in all 4 without doing any character/perk specific challenges." What's the problem?

  • Enjoy the game, friend. Both roles are super fun, no matter what anyone tells you!

  • You could have still safetied if you hadn't killed the other 2 on 1st hook. Let them do 2 saves each, give them 3 chases (6 total) and that's more than enough for safety.

  • If you like the cosmetics, it's worth it.

  • Seeing an object of obsession as trapper or freddy

Yet survivors can stack their up to 4 times with no real downsides to almost anything they have

    True, what's your point?

edit: I'll elaborate - everything you listed is extremely subjective (as was what i replied). Essentially when comparing killer's kit (powers/addons/perks) and survivors' kit (items/addons etc) you're comparing apples with oranges. They are different in their function, impact and use. In other words you cant build an argument on the basis of survivor's items are stronger than a killers' addons, because they can stack them up to 4 times. It makes no logical sense.

  • You could argue that survivor items are relatively as powerful as killer add-ons. Both are stackable under certain circumstances

This game is completely broken. So many things were made unbalanced on both the survivor and killer side that they havent fixed. I get into a game, a wraith finds someone. I save them with my flashlight (not being toxic or anything just a general save) and now im getting chased, alls fair atm. I get hooked at 3rd gen and another survivor runs over to me and farms me... this is fine i think, i have DS. Well no, I get moried straight off first hook and dont stand a chance. How on earth is that fair that ive now lost a flashlight and a pip because of things beyond my control. Am i meant to run the killer around for all 5 gens and escape?

I mean.. I really hope you're not being serious and this is just a joke post, but if it's not then all I have to say is - it's the game.. Sometimes you escape and sometimes you die and lose your items. If you really want to keep them bring a white ward, or better yet - don't flashlight save against a killer with a mori, unless you're confident in your ability to loop them and don't mind dealing with the consequences of making them angry.

  • I can't tell. Since the last patch I've only seen 3 spirits as survivor and I personally find her pretty boring, so I don't play her. I think people currently avoid her, because of the lunge bug and some sound issues. Maybe we'll see once the bugs are fixed and people start playing her again.
