  • Solo. I mostly play the game to wind down after work and generally prefer to relax on my own for a bit.

I would like to find a well played female streamer. Nothing against the guys, but...you know...girls are cuter.

I apologize for the sexism. It's the testosterone

In that case I recommend rayoxium and iosefka. Both of them are very entertaining

  • If you followed hybridpanda, you've probably heard of GibsAndPieces - the guy is absolutely hilarious! Another great streamer is GenericAnonUser - he streams on PS4. Very informative and quite entertaining as well. Rayoxium is pretty funny too, but she plays huntress almost exclusively

  • I personally struggle with him. My main issue is that his kanabo and arms obstruct a big chunk of the screen when you lunge, so i miss a lot.

And now that I know this I feel stupid for still attempting to lunge onto there the past few games I got on farm maps...

Just FYI fat killers such as clown and oni seem to bounce off the side of the tractor, so you wont always be able to get there on your first try with them. :)

  • It's a bug. The devs said they're working on it.

  • A lot of the issues around balance in this game are very subjective. That's why there isn't a change or a solution that can be implemented which will make everyone suddenly think the game is balanced. A bunch of people enjoy playing DBD and the game is actually consistently growing in popularity, so I'd say it's balanced enough

  • IMG_20200103_152549.jpg

My latest survivor match. I'm solo queue, by the way. The game was... Interesting

  • I don't mind megs if they wear the deathgarden mask. Otherwise the face puts me off

  • Thing is, secret offerings change the game significantly (for both sides), so in my opinion both killers and survivors need this extra bit of information to make better decisions at the start.

    • Survivors see a secret offering - it's probably going to be a short game (mori), so counter by rushing gens early
    • Killer sees a secret offering - they'll probably all spawn together, so i should head straight to the opposite side of the map and not be surprised if I lose a gen by the time I get there

This info helps you get yourself in the right state of mind before the trial starts.

  • It's RNG - you're just getting unlucky.

The best way to get a specific perk quicker is to eliminate other perks as quickly as possible. In other words, buy tier 3 of any perk that you see as soon as you see it even if you don't want it. That way on the next bloodweb there is a smaller pool of perks that can show up and thus a higher chance to see BBQ

  • I rarely see iridescent heads used by killers (and I personally don't use them), because they feel a bit cheap. I think it's because people tend to avoid using things that diminish the value of their victory. The only times I do see iri heads used is by people who can't play huntress and want to practice her or just do a daily without getting absolutely slaughtered. In that sense I think the addon is fine, as the games feel the same as playing against a competent huntress without any addons.

My issue with iri heads therefore is that it clutters people's bloodwebs as something that costs a lot of BPs that they'll never actually use. The change people have already suggested in the past that I really liked is to give it an insta-down beyond a certain range; maybe, to balance things out, remove the reduction in max number hatchets you can hold. That way it will only enhance the dopamine rush from a long-range snipe without actually feeling cheap.

    • We're going to live forever gives you double BP at 4 stacks, so it's a no-brainer.
    • Kindred - great synergy with WGLF - it basically tells you the direction in which the killer goes after hooking someone, so allows you to choose the best pathing to go for the save without running into them. You will also see your other teammates, so you'll know if someone is going to steal the unhook
    • Deliverance - 1,500 BP in the survival category - you will rarely get to 8000 bp in this category without this perk. You'll be saving teammates, so it should be really easy to activate it given that you're not the first person to get found
    • Decisive strike (like deliverance, extra BP in the survival category if you get tunnelled) or BT - to ensure that you get a WGLF stack for each unhook

Eh it's also grammatically incorrect lol. A typo is a type of grammatical error

Isn't it technically a syntax error (this specific case, not a typo in general)?

  • Like some others, I played killer only today - I found the 3 survivor games I played pretty boring (got moried in all 3).

I actually prefer to get matched up against SWF groups, as they tend to (especially during events) burn multiple streamers. I think I got over 2m bloodpoints in just a few hours

  • Haha, that sounds like a nice little gift indeed! Congrats! :)

Yeah I get that. I just think there will always be players who like teasing newbies.

The approach with the r20 reset is just a idea to get a sudden change of pace. In long term I think they need to rework the ranking system like you said.

True. You're right and the more I think about it your suggestion is possibly better for the game.

However, until the proper overhaul of the whole ranking system that was promised in the 3rd year anniversary stream I'd personally like to give the current reset system a chance.

Right know I've completely given up hopes of being matched up with and against players at my skill level, so I see the current approach to rank resets as a way to reduce my time waiting in lobbies, as it will push a lot more players into the higher ranks, potentially (hopefully) decreasing queue times at red ranks for both killers and survivors.

Your suggestion will help out newbies with faster queues, but people at high ranks who will take about a week or less to get from 20 to 1-4 will have to endure even worse queues than they already do.

Obviously, I'm biased towards red rank queue times at the expense of the new player experience, so it's a good thing that i'm not a developer!

  • @KnotEnthusiast said:

Title. Between the 20+ minute queue times for low rank killers due to the SWF changes (OhTofu just did an awesome video on it, go check it out to see a more elegant explanation), the next to worthless tutorial that doesn't explain perks, bloodwebs, killer powers, or other major gameplay aspects, and the fact that a new player starts with literally nothing, and has to play a game blind with no perks and next to no explanations, I genuinely don't understand how this game gets any new players. I have personally had 3 friends that were super excited to try the game quit within a week, because the game is so tremendously unfun to a player that's new. I'm trying to get yet another friend into it, because I do genuinely think that it's a great game once you get a head of steam, but thanks to the new SWF changes I can't play with him on my main without him dying in literally 10 seconds to a rank 1 killer. So now I'm contributing to the problem by making a smurf account, solely so I can play with a new friend.

This game needs an offline area for survivors to test killers and perks. The game needs a comprehensive tutorial with killer powers, tile explanations, and examples of perks in action. The game needs a way for new players to rank up survivors other than a cycle of hide-die-repeat until they either understand the game thru beating their head against it or quit. Without new players, this game dies, and as of right now there really isn't a good reason to be a new player in DBD.

I agree with most of what you're saying, apart from creating the smurf account. Not because of the ethics of it, but because I believe the biggest problem for new players are the queue times. If you swf with them on your main account they'll get quicker lobbies and actually get to play the game. Granted, it will be tough in the beginning, but my personal opinion is that having to sit in a queue is more off-putting than playing with people above your skill level.

  • i wonder what happened march-july 2017 - it seems like a really dodgy period and then a tipping point afterwards where the game started gaining popularity at a decent pace

  • Not really a grammatical error - more of a typo. The word "expire" is missing

Not like 50% of killers already accomplish this. I agree the game needs this but you don't have to act like it doesn't already exist.

I don't think he acted like it doesn't already exist. Wishing for more of something doesn't necessarily mean you don't appreciate what you already have. You basically said the same thing as him.

Sure but doing that would literally make you a rank 20. Even now there are people like that. Or do you think a reset to R20 would cause a rising in depipping players.

Maybe, but I don't think so. On the other hand, after many hours in the game, some survivors only enjoy getting chased, so they could technically stay at rank 20, make life miserable for new players and still enjoy themselves.

Not saying that it will happen that often, but it's still technically possible.

In my opinion BHVR should just make it really difficult to rank up and/or find a way to make it so that ranks are reflective of players' skill and not amount of time spent playing the game Then rank resets wouldn't really be necessary at all. No idea how to achieve that, but it should be possible.

  • Probably either really immature or just children, who don't really understand the impact words can have. They'll eventually grow up and most of them will get their act together. Like you said, this is a small percentage of the community. You do get insults from normal people as well every now and again, but I tend to jot that down to them being overly emotional or just talking trash - in this case I'll reply "gg, fun match :)" and move on.

  • I haven't listened to/read any of the lore, but I like the idea of a banshee/siren. Either way, I really hope the next killer is original and brings a unique mechanic into the game.

  • There are other ways to make sure you don't pip without having to DC - don't touch a gen, don't escape and rescue teammates in the killer's face..

  • Unfortunately there isn't an offline mode.

It would be great to have it though.. it would be really nice to be able to practice things like nurse blinks, hatchet throws, fast vaults, etc. outside of a real game without the need to have a second person to join you in kyf.

I find it really strange that we don't have the option to create a custom game on our own.

  • It wouldn't make sense gameplay-wise. Making them stop while charging, or having a chance of misfiring will make bubba and billy's abilities pretty useless.

There's a lot of stuff in the game that doesn't make sense in terms of realism, but as @Seltas0208 said, balanced gameplay is more important than realism.

  • Not going to lie, I think this is a really boring playstyle, but no - you didn't break any rules

    P.S. Bubba's squeals 😂

  • I try to do something similar in my games. My goal is for everyone to have fun and to have a balanced match. If I notice that the survivors are really good ill generally be more brutal, but otherwise I'll try to make it so that all/most of us get more than 20k bp

  • Cross platform play

    Dedicated servers on ps4

    Cross platform progression

    New game mode

Now granted, I threw a lot of games trying to complete some of the dumber rift challenges so its (kinda) my fault I got to green rank to begin with. HOWEVER even tho im green all of my teammates and the killer are constantly brown. Im talking 1 perk, DC if theres ruin, farm each other off the hook type survivors. Ive gotten to the point where I message the killer and bet them that they and 3 of the survivors are brown rank. Havent lost a bet yet.

So im in a limbo, I can still survive by getting the hatch or the door after they close the hatch (They for some reason never patrol the doors) but because my teammates stay useless I am also constantly de pipping, probably increasing my chances of being matched with browns since im not too far off from being one. And because I know how every game is going to end I just dgaf most of the time. "Why even play then?" Because I love this game and have 8 days to finish the grindy ass rift. I had 1 game in the last week with other greens and I was reminded how fast gens can get done when more than one person is working on them.

And I see a lot of people complain about the same thing and why they want lobby ranks brought back (I dont really think this is the fix because im not going to dodge lobbies anyway, then again I just killed myself on the hook for the first time so maybe I would, which is toxic so still not a fix) but how is this even possible? How can everyone experience the exact same thing unless theyre purposefully matching one higher rank with a bunch of noobs.

This post is half me bitching but also half me really asking #########? Like EVERY game im matched with only browns? That cant be right

If you want to rank back up, just try to get the killer's attention first and run them all game. If you're more skilled than them, this shouldn't be too difficult. With a recent patch you'll get emblem points for objectives that your teammates do whilst you're in a chase. You'll be back in purples/reds in no time

That'd be scarier than any killer in the game!!

  • You mean when they're over confident and get downed in seconds? Yeah, it's pretty satisfying

  • I agree with OP. There's often a bit of salt after a match, but that's mostly due to competitive stress or just trash talk. Once tempers cool down I find most of the people I play with to be pretty decent folk. I play in EU PS4

PC actually had the highest number of all platforms from the last stats. The console version had been out for around 2 years before this was posted.

I highly doubt its changed from this to the 90% to 100% figure people are now throwing around in the last 8 months.

It's worth mentioning that this would proc most games at lower rank, simply because the average survivor at low levels are still struggling with skill checks nvm being unable to manage the many 'insta-find', 'one-shot' and cleansing mechanics in the game. So it simply wouldn't get cleansed.

And from what I've seen average killers can 4k provided they can chase (predict movement etc.) at these ranks. Because new players dont know how to loop/juke. I'm already telling new players not to bother with this game unless they're interested in playing killer, because they'll just get farmed at lower levels.

The OP's idea would just make it worse.

yeah, youre quite right. It's like another one of those things where experienced players wouldn't care and new players would have a miserable experience with. i didn;t think about that

I have had middle aged men literal husbands/dedicate boyfriends send hate mail. If I lose I'm trash, if I win you guessed it still trash well it's usually more vulgar hate

Yeah, it happens, but it's a lot less frequent in this age bracket (i think). I also get hate mail, but it's only about once every 20 or so games. I really can't see any other reason why our experience would differ so greatly, apart from demographics, time of play and things like that.

I do hope things get better for you eventually.

  • As survivor, I wouldn't mind it

As killer, I'd feel a bit cheap if it actually activates. Also, it will be an indirect nerf to other hex perks like devour, which rely on the element of surprise and survivors not looking for totems. On the other hand, perks like thrill could become the new meta as a way to slow down games

  • @johnmwarner said:

Please don’t start with “ranks don’t mean anything,” because while rank isn’t a clear indicator of skill I think we all can admit/agree that playing against people of a lower rank than you should be makes the game easier.

If you’re a killer do you depip so you can guarantee yourself getting 4ks against potatoes survivors?

As a survivor do you depip so you play against “less sweaty,” killers?

If you do, I appreciate the honesty, but just try to realize you are making the game unfun for those rank 15s you’re bullying just like the sweaty try hards in the red ranks made it unfun for you.

    What would other reasons be?

I think one of the reason people say ranks don't matter is because of depipping or smurfing. In other words, because of smurfs you'll encounter experienced players at any rank, which makes the system a bit meaningless. It's a shame that people can avoid playing with skilled opponents so easily.

We must be playing different games because 90% of my matches I get hurtful messages to the point where I don't see the point in playing nice anymore when all I get is disgusting harassment win or lose

I'm sorry to hear that.. Honestly, my experience is quite different, but it could be a bit biased, because I tend to play late at night, when you'll usually encounter more mature/older people. For the most part children just don't know any better, I guess.

  • @iamscumqueen101 said:

No mainly because survivors will show you none. Gave them a good game and they win? Stay at exits taunt/ 'uninstall trash killer', gave good but beat them '######### trash killer' almost every scenario you are the bad guy if they aren't farmers they will make you their punk so stomp on them to your hearts content.

Come on.. it's not that bad. You do get people that bite the hand that feeds them and say nasty stuff even if they only escaped because you've been nice to them, but that's really not that common. Most of the time when I've been nice the survivors will either escape as quickly as possible (so they won't waste my time) and move on to the next game, or just start memeing around. A decent amount of times I've had people refuse to leave the match and die to the endgame collapse, because they didn't think they deserved to escape or didn't want to deprive me of my BPs.

There are soo many nice people playing this game - we just tend to remember the nasty ones more

I'm relentless. for example, I hooked someone right next to a gen which was almost done, so I camped there. someone saved them when i was right there and I got the person again and got the kill.

Now this person is messaging me trying to tell me that I'm a bad player but in my eyes I'm a good killer.

so what am i supposed to do now? let them escape? I'm a little annoyed about this to say the least...

You're not supposed to do anything you don't want to. You play to get kills and that's what you find fun. Nothing wrong with that!

However, when playing like this you will get messaged a lot, because other people in your games won't enjoy it. The poor sap who got hooked next to the gen just spent the whole match on the hook, so it's normal for them to be upset. If you don't care if survivors have fun in your games, then you shouldn't have an issue with getting some salt from them. It's just how humans are.

Thanks for your opinion but it would be more productive for everyone if you give ur ideas and tell which thing would you improve or modify. Maybe devs will try a PTB if we get agree.

Well, I don't necessarily have any good ideas on how to buff the oni and even if I did, I could only speak for console, because he feels quite different to PC and console players currently.

I generally think that providing an opposing opinion is still productive, even if it's not accompanied with ideas of my own. It's meant to offer a different point of view and help facilitate a debate where the more creative people can come up with new interesting ideas.I didn't mean to bash your idea just for the sake of it, which I feel is what you thought.

I will try to offer some ideas, if that's what you really want from people:

    • A big issue for me with the oni is that during the swing your weapon and hands obscure a larger than normal portion of the screen which makes it difficult to track survivors during the lunge animation. Reducing the FOV block from these (i,e, making his hands and kanabo a bit smaller) would feel like a decent buff.
    • The vertical vs horisontal turn sensitivity on console (and inability to adjust these separately) is another issue i have with the Oni during demon dash. I.e. when trying to turn horisontally I'd often turn the joystick vertically ever so slightly, which results in looking at the sky. Trying to correct this ends up with me in limbo switching between looking at the sky and looking at my feet - basically anywhere but where I'm actually trying to look/go. Giving us the ability to reduce the vertical joystick sensitivity while keeping the horisontal sensitivity maxed out would make playing the oni significantly more enjoyable for me and maybe other players with less agile thumbs.
    • I'd like to get a little bit more power charge from blood orbs, because it would take less time to get to the "fun" part of playing the oni. Specifically until you manage to activate your power for the first time, this killer is pretty boring.
    • I'd like to see an increase in the turn sensitivity while doing a normal charged lunge (not during demon dash). Currently I feel there isn't any opportunity to use the long charged lunge, because it almost locks you in a forward moving animation, making it easy to dodge. The only times I personally have success with it is when survivors are stuck between 2 long walls, or just aren't looking behind them.

Hope you find this more useful.

  • Hag, because in some situations versing her requires a playstyle I don't enjoy.

Clown, because the gas wrecks my eyes and I have to spend a few minutes to relax my retinas after versing him in a match

  • @Primalux135 said:

Here I will post the changes I would do to the Oni to be a proper killer.

1-While on Blood fury action speed increased same as Michael myers and pallet destruction 1 sec

2- While on blood fury your movement speed increase 120% and you can M1 to insta down but your lunge will last 2 secs to be released.

3-While on demon dash you can only hit forwards (So survivors can evade it)

4- Hit a survivor and downing it greatly reduce your meter. You can cancel your power but it recover lowly and you need blood orbs to fill it faster.

Basically would be like a Michael Myers with Hillbilly chainsaw for movement

I think the changes you suggested are pretty balanced, but I personally dislike them. He would be a lot stronger when chasing survivors "normally", but much weaker if you're trying to down people with demon dash. For me that would take away the uniqueness of the killer and it would just feel like playing myers who can go into EW3 an infinite amount of times and can travel the map faster. I think your ideas would serve better as a buff to myers and not a change to the oni.

Also, the charge time for the lunge in 2. would be a big disadvantage to console players, as due to the slower turn speed/sensitivity survivors will have quite a lot of time to dodge/360 your swing. Not really a problem on PC, but a pretty big deal over on console.

    • What are your thoughts about this? I don't think either role is overpowered. Depending on skill and circumstance one role may have an advantage over the other in certain situations, but I think the actual problem with balance is that it's very difficult to get 5 people of equal skill in the game.
    • Are Killer overpowered? I don't think so. Player skill varies wildly between games. Although sometimes feels like as survivor you're completely overwhelmed, in my experience it's killers snowballing off of a teammate's silly mistake which ends up killing the whole team.
    • Is this statistic somehow missinterpretated by me? Perhaps, or maybe not. I think you shouldn't look at the statistic in isolation and consider factors that are not visible through killrates alone.
    • Do you agree that a ballanced game would be an average of 2 kills? Yes and no. To me a game where the killer hooks everyone at least 2 times and kills 2 is balanced. A game where the killer got less than 7-8 hooks during the which netted them 2 kills isn't balanced. Both scenarios end with a 2k, but in the 1st one the killer played really well and in the 2nd one they got outplayed, but still managed to kill 2. That's why i don't think just looking at kills is enough.

    white ward. does this. already.

I want the [offering] known as [white ward] to stop The [perk] [Franklin's demise] from ripping the item out of a survivors hand. The fact that a duplication bug exists already has nothing to do with my change. In fact, there is no way my change could even make the problem worse.

You're not being attacked, you are the attacker. Be gone, troll.

The wording in your post isn't good. I suggest fixing it, as I didn't see a single person commenting on this thread actually understand what you meant. They all tried to give you constructive feedback, which you mistook as a personal attack against you and started getting defensive.

On topic - This idea isn't better than what I originally thought you suggested, because it would allow to negate 1 of the killer's perks using an offering while you still get to use all 4 of your perks AND your item AND its addons.

I'll ignore the insult at the end of your comment and just assume you don't know any better.

  • Some of these features sound pretty neat. I especially like the idea about adding a status effect indicating you're within TR. That will definitely help not only people with hearing problems, but others as well.

Also, having double exp during BP events would be really neat! I have most of my characters maxed out, so don't really care about BPs, but it would be amazing to be able to farm double exp - i.e. 2x faster to get shards. There are so many cosmetics I want to get with shards

I literally gave you a step by step explanation of why your "change" does exactly that. If you create posts on a public forum and post your ideas, expect people to give you constructive feedback. Instead of trying to attack them, you can try to actually listen to this feedback. You might learn something.
