Yeah watching them fumble around while I got to second state proves your opinion invalid.
I don't think it does. That's just your perception and that is easily skewed when you get emotional, which is clear from the fact you created this thread

I just died in a match against a spirit. Now I know you're thinking "That's normal" no this is different she didn't use her power even ONCE. No phasing, just blood lusted me the entire chase, no breaking pallets no doing any mind games just blood lust. And i had headless chicken teammates so that cemented the loss completely. She didn't need a power she just needed a bad connection and a ######### map to win. I got to second state because my team was so interested in ######### walking around being scared of the non phasing killer. I hate this game
Not going to lie, from this and your other comments in this thread it sounds like you're overestimating your abilities.
You know, a 15 second chase can sometimes feel like 3 minutes, where's from your teammates perspective you died instantly.

No one. There are no winners in a situation like this. That said it seems I came home first and the other person was still afk when I ended it

Over 10 hours. Old hatch stand off. Went to work, had drinks after, came back home and the game was still going. I guess the other guy did the same as me

mate i know you are playing in green ranks but you dont understand how fast gens pop in red ranks
I've been playing since 2018 at red rank (not that the rank matters honestly), so I've been around for a while. Once you gain some experience you start to have less of a problem with gens.
That's why I suggested to take off the meta build (which has carried you above your skill cap) and try to learn how to actually play with your killer of choice. Initially you might lose a few games until you start getting people around your skill level, but with time you'll find that as you get better your games will become easier.
If you're still struggling it's good to play a bit more survivor to understand how people play on the other side.
With time and practice you'll get there
-
Play better.
-
I hoard items on survivor and addons on killer. Only use addons/items when I want to do a fun build (e.g. jumpscare Myers, crossmap Billy etc.).
If you play without addons for a long time you find out that you don't actually need them if you learn to use your power. My opinion is that they are there to change up the mechanics of your power and make the game feel different - not to make you stronger
-
Mate you're running the most meta build and still complain that the games go too quickly. Maybe practice a bit more or switch roles and learn the game from the other perspective
-
I'll support the game if they make it playable on console (ps4), as right now it's an unplayable laggy mess - much worse than it used to be. The community is fine. The gameplay is fine. What lets me down is the inability to play a game that I've paid for, because it's so laggy and glitchy
-
Like many others said you don't need to know how mmr works to be able to go up or down on purpose.
I think the reason it's not shared is because they want to make it sound more complicated than it is. I wouldnt be surprised if its still based on the old pip system
-
This usually happens when someone spends the whole game licking the walls of the map and hiding without doing anything. This frustrates both the other survivors and the killer, resulting in everyone wanting you caught and sometimes helping each other to make sure it happens
-
The thing about noed is - it's very easy to tell if someone has it.
1. If the killer isn't good in chases and struggles to get people downed, they most likely have noed
2. If a killer stays near a hooked survivors, even though other survivors aren't pressuring the hook, they most likely have noed
Confident players don't run noed - it's a weak perk and an easy one to play around.
If you're playing against a bad killer, you have plenty of time to cleanse the totems. If you're playing against a good killer, you don't need to worry about noed.
-
What's the point of this post? People say all sorts of things

Yeah, you shouldnt over commit unless youre really enjoying that chase.

Put yourself in this scenario:
You're last survivor... You get in an intense chase to find hatch... Hatch closes... You get to a gate... Before you could open it he finds you and eventually downs you....unlucky but still a ggs wp onto the next game right?
WRONG!
He nods at you and leaves you slugged whilst he wanders away... So you're stuck there, moving around for a whole 5 minutes trying to bleed out...
What is the point?
And
Why is this not sorted out yet?
Thoughts?
Firstly, the bleed out timer is 4 minutes, not 5. Furthermore, closing hatch triggers EGC which lasts 2 minutes. Factor in getting to the gate, trying to open it, getting found, chased and downed, you're already looking at around 1.5 minutes on the ground max (assuming you only lasted 15 seconds in that chase).
Exaggerating much? I know you were going for dramatic effect, but you just sound silly.

It doesn´t even require a lot of coordination. Just a Obsession thats getting chased. Everyone else will hug the gens.
All it requires is for a killer to over commit to a chase and survivors who don't care about having fun/playing the game and just want to get out as quickly as possible. It's the killer's fault for not knowing when to abandon a chase and the survivors' fault for not wanting to interact with the killer.

I 100% get that, but it certainly doesn't make it right for those who continue trash talking. Just because a large amount of people do it doesn't make it right for others to do it.
I'll agree with you that if the other person doesn't engage, then you should stop. That's how it usually happens in life.
It's a bit different in video games though, since most of the people who keep bashing you even if you don't respond in kind are children who don't know any better

I don't understand why people gain pleasure by being a douche. It really doesn't help anyone, it's just petty and selfish. If you wanna trash talk you should try doing it in real life as well
People talk trash all the time. In any competitive scene, regardless of whether it's in real life or on a game, you compete both in whatever the activity is and on a psychological level. It's just the way it is.
It's true that some people don't like engaging in trash talk, in which case they can just ignore what their opponent says. It's not the end of the world

There were a lot of mistakes there, in the way of chasing and missing. Not to mention there was a person doing a generator right next to the chase. Still, without the bloodlust this just goes to show how loops become much stronger and the more experience the survivor has on looping and using the strong setups it is possible to simply become untouchable. If the killer dares to go after you he already lost the match or is on his way to lose it, because for killer time is much more scarce.
Well essentially what you described is a player making a pretty decent error and losing because of it. Nothing wrong with that.

Unless you play Trapper that is. Or as you described they use object to add a massive headstart to every chase. It´s not extremely common, but it happens, and when a good team uses object well, it´s extremely OP vs many Killers.
Yeah, it does counter trapper, but there are plenty of perks that counter specific killers' kit, so OoO isn't any different here - e.g. DH vs nurse, iron will vs spirit and so on. It's pretty annoying, but there are plenty of offenders in that category.
On your second point - a lot of things in this game are OP. Thing is, people actively choose not to use them in that way, because it makes their own game boring - just a few examples: using OoO to give your team a head start, using iri heads as huntress, 99ing sprint bursts, 1st hook mories, keying out of hatch at 1 gen left, 'forever' killer builds and so on - the list could go on.

No one cares about the big picture of a 6-13 minute match. I would rather tunnel the living crap out of an OoO user and make their game insanely boring (for trying to make mine insanely boring/frustrating) in the hopes that they get tired of it and not be anti-fun.
My man! You must be fun at parties!
Seriously though, sorry to burst your bubble, but you're the problem, not the solution. Also, unless they're an absolute potato, a person using OoO usually wants to get chased, so by trying to make their game 'unfun' you're actually giving them exactly what they want 😉

then let the OoO tell the rest if you go literally anywhere other than to the OoO user so all other survivors always get a massive head start in a chase before you even see them. -thinking of the bigger picture here
thats what a good OoO swf does so unless your a high mobility killer and even then you are always at a massive disadvantage until the OoO is dead.
a perk that gives a whole team constant information with no actual counter play with a downside for only one of the survivors and its isn't even that bad is not ok or balanced regardless of how uncommon it is to go against.
Survivors always have a head start. It's called your terror radius. That's unless you're playing a Stealth killer, most of will be undetectable anyway. The thing is, survivors often choose to stay at a tile, instead of using their head start. If a good OoO team has used that information against you, so you can never get into a chase with them, then you're pretty unlucky. No one plays like that unless they're pretty competitive and want to win at all costs, at which point they paid for their escape with a bunch of boring matches.
The point is, people calling out your location with OoO doesn't change much.
-
@MeltingPenguins said:
On paper, it's fine. As a soloQ perk, especially when you're not good at running away from killers, it's fine.
It's the how it is used to give people in a group an unfair advantage over a killer, without the player behind the killer having any way of countering it other than singling the survivor out and getting rid of them as fast as possible through tunneling and camping.
DS' is similar. It's the how it's used, not the how often.
And here is the problem - when people see someone with OoO, they lose all capability of rational thought and their vision turns red. Tunnelling a decent player who's using OoO and then camping them out is the best way to get 1 kill at most, and that's if you're lucky, regardless of whether they are playing solo queue or not.
That's fine if you're a rookie, but the amount of people who've put countless hours into the game and still have this problem is astounding.
When you load up in a match against an OoO user, try to think about the big picture, instead of developing tunnel vision and only being able to see that one Survivor's aura

...Or you could acknowledge that I have made several good points. You can agree to disagree, sure, but I'd really appreciate at least some effort to have a good-faith conversation. You seem to have completely ignored me.
"You can use pig's power as long as you take the time to learn how to use it." May I introduce you to a friend of mine? He was one of the first Pig mains, and in his prime, arguably one of the best. Near if not at Scorpionz's level. My friend and I both agree something needs to be done about Pig's dash, and even Scorpionz has agreed in the past that it would be nice if survivors were incentivized to stay at the loop. You seem to think I consider Pig to be a ######### tier killer... that's not the case at all.
"Crouch or Dash-spamming won't make pig any more fun to play, she'll just not require you to have a brain anymore." Snuck premise. You've made this argument on the assumption that giving Pig a faster crouch will mean she can just spam her dash and get an unavoidable hit. In practice, this would not be the case, because the dash has not been changed. You would still need to take control of the pallet, fake going one direction and go the other, etc. You could even throw in a moondash or two if you felt like being fancy.
May I ask if you have a problem with Demogorgon?
Sorry man, can we just agree to disagree? I really can't be bothered typing out a 3-page reply, that's why I'm not acknowledging every one of your points.
Regarding your question as to whether I have a problem with demo - my problem with him is that he makes my game run like a sideshow, so I can't really play him unless I've just restarted my console, thus I rarely do.

Depends on what you mean by looping. A lot of people today use getting chased and looping as interchangeable terms. That said, if you're one of those people, then this must be a troll post. Chasing and getting chased is the only skilful interaction in this game.
On the other hand, if you mean looping pallets literally, as in running circles around a pallet (e.g. ormond pallets with full LoS) until the killer catches up, then dropping it and running to the next one, rinse and repeat, then yeah - I find this extremely boring both as killer and survivor - the chase just becomes a contest of who can hug tiles better and round the tighter corners - I wouldn't even call this an actual chase.
If you go by the second definition, then yeah, I'd say it's pretty much as interactive as a survivor getting camped

Okay, I have a couple things to say here:
- Yes, she can theoretically deal with open pallet loops. This is not the problem I seek to address. Her dash needs to be usable more often, so "just fake the dash" doesn't really apply here.
- She can deal with chases where other killers struggle, yes. If the survivor chooses to stay at the tile. This is the problem I want to deal with.
- Yes, she has traps. This is... completely irrelevant to what I want to tweak.
- Comparing Pig to Clown really doesn't help your case here...
- I'm suggesting small changes, but by no means minor ones. This is easily Pig's greatest problem right now, at least from an enjoyment perspective. She needs to be able to use her dash more often than she can now. She doesn't need a more powerful dash, just a more available one.
So you're right in most or all of what you've said, but these points are not the problems I'm bringing up.
Where we're at a disagreement is that you think pig has a problem and I don't. Simple as. We can go around in circles all we want but my point will stand - you can use pig's power as long as you take the time to learn how to use it. Crouch or Dash-spamming won't make pig any more fun to play, she'll just not require you to have a brain anymore.
And just to address your comment about clown - he is one of the strongest chasers in the game, who can quickly shut down any loop. He lacks on other areas, but as you said, that's not the point. Pig is comparable in terms of chase potential.
-
@Jallybwan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1691298#Comment_1691298
"Not really a skillful play..." We want Pigs to make skilful plays, don't we? Baiting the dash and uncrouching isn't nearly as skilful as actually landing the dash, so we want to encourage Pigs to commit to more dashes.
I don't think increasing the crouch speed would lead to "just dash forward" being the best play. The dash itself would still take a second to charge up - we'd need to give Medical File and Tape new functionalities - so the survivor still has plenty of time to make it to a pallet or window if they're at a tile. And if they're not at a tile, you would likely get the M1 anyway. Still plenty of room for skilled plays, less incentive to just W+M1.
On your first paragraph - my point was that she has ways in her kit to already deal with open pallet loops and other common situations,so she doesn't need a buff for those. Furthermore, with practice she can also deal with chases where most other killers struggle. She's just as good in a chase as clown, but she also has her traps, which remove any need to run slowdown perks.
It seems that you're suggesting minor tweaks that won't really make her stronger, but I imagine they'll just either reduce her skill cap.. Or otherwise be so minor that they won't really make an impact
-

Understandable, I don't want to see Pig turn into Freddy either. That's why I haven't suggested directly buffing her dash's length or duration; my problem isn't with how strong the dash is, it's how little a good survivor will let you use it. As of now, if you get a survivor who runs from the loop, there is little reason to use her dash at all - this, to me, means there is little incentive to learn the most skilful part of her power.
Well, with pallet loops that you can see over you can still force a survivor away without losing any distance by just using your crouch and baiting a dash. Not really a skillful play, but it does work on good survivors.
One example of where the dash is really good are loops without Los (e.g. Jungle gyms) it's always pretty satisfying when you pull off a moon dash (sliding backwards on the wall whilst dashing) that nets you a hit. Increasing the crouch speed will just make it pointless to learn how to make plays like this, because they won't be necessary anymore, as most of the time you'll just get hits by dashing forward.
That's why I think buffing her dash/crouch will make her into another freddy

Had a few different survivors tea bag me and I slugged them plus hooked last one. I just let the slugged bleed out. Don’t tea bag and we will have a fun game. You tea bag me and you will not have a fun game.
Some people are so sensitive
-
The sooner people realise that this game will always be riddled with bugs and exploits and accept that they shouldn't take advantage, the better
-
4 objects? That's more advantageous to you than it is to them. Might be a bit distracting, but the best advice I can give you is focus, don't get emotional and play normally. This match is much easier to win than a swf with 1 object - all of that's assuming that you're around the same skill level. If they're better than you, then take the loss and learn from it
-
I'll only drop God pallet if it's hag and basement. Otherwise, I'll just leave shack after I use it for a bit or take a down if I got outplayed. The value of having shack pallet up is that you can go back to it over and over again and earn at least a minute for your team every time you go there. That's much harder to do when the pallet's been kicked

I know this is an older post that someone else just performed a necro on, but it really is quite simple, dunno why you're acting like it's hard. Video games have had the ability to reconnect for decades, this isn't new technology.
- You don't "give them" any amount of time, if they reconnect, they're back in the match. But also, when someone disconnects, don't kick them back to the ######### title screen. Keep them loaded into that match's map, and attempt to reestablish connection. This isn't rocket science.
- Do they "deserve" to be allowed to reconnect? What does this even mean? This is gibberish nonsense. It's a video game. If they're a chronic disconnector, then give them a ban and a warning about connection stability affecting the quality of the game for the rest of the people playing the game, but a DC every now and then is normal even for people on great connections, for myriad reasons.
- The same thing that happens in any decent game and frankly what this game should do when someone attempts to lag switch: have the person's character stand perfectly still (as if they're AFK) until they reestablish a reliable connection. There's no need to interrupt anything.
Wow, it's almost like other video games exist and have solved these issues years ago and DBD doesn't exist in a vacuum.
I like your optimism, bob

Late as #########, but here we go
I'm not saying Pig is bad, I'm saying her ambush could use a little tweaking, so she can use it more often. This raises Pig's skill cap and rewards players for using her dash more often, which in my opinion, is her most fun power.
I understand what you're saying, but in my opinion it will lower her skill cap, not increase it. There are not that many killers left that require some thought and practice to use their power. I'd hate to see pig turn into another freddy

Not to go off topic, but merciless killer can be achieved with a 3k??? This is news to me.
Yep, as long as you fill out all your other emblems, you only need 10 or 11 hooks to get merciless at Red rank. Also, the lower the rank, the less you'll need to do, for example, at brown ranks as long as you get a game to last around 7-10 minutes, get a couple of kills and several hooks, you'll get merciless.
-
Why create a thread if you won't listen to people's feedback?
-
Tunnelling, aka having tunnel vision, aka ignoring gens and other survivors in favour of a single survivor for whatever reason is never a good idea. Look at the big picture - sometimes the person who just got unhooked is in a way stronger position (or way better in chases) than the person who unhooked. Obviously this doesn't only apply to people who just got unhooked. So often have I seen people chasing a single survivor for the whole match and then wondering why they lost.
In short, if you don't think why you're doing what you're doing, tunneling will make you lose pretty much as often as it helps you win.
That said, if I play survivor I'm happy to get tunnelled all game - this means I got to have all the fun and none of the boring gen work.
-

Can we get another message here? It's not like when a Survivor gets Moried three minutes in because someone without Borrowed Time says: "Hey, let's unhook in front of Insideous Bubba"... the game then says: "Match Result: Bad And You Should Feel Bad."
/salt
Why do people take everything so seriously? Next, are we going to get survivors checking their pulse to see if they're alive, because their TV clearly says they're dead?

You talk like everyone wants to play this game 24/7 and learn every little detail about how things work. It's just a fact that there are a lot of casual players that dont waste every hour of their life on DBD. Some people occasionally wanna come on and have a good match which often doesnt happen, because more often than not the game is one big bundle of frustrations.
You either invest a lot of time to learn things and be frustrated at how good this game //could// be if any sort of love went into making it and listening to the fanbase instead of corporate greed.
Or- you play ocassionally which means you're okay at it but it's still frustrating because of the many balance issues and rng elements to it.
its a lose loose situation, really.
I think you're wrong. Firstly if someone played the game just occasionally, they wouldn't feel the need to come to the forums and seek advice about it.
Secondly, the guy you're replying to was giving OP very sound advice, which if applied translates into real life quite well.
Thirdly you talk about corporate greed and how good this game could* be - the game is pretty good mate. To keep developing it, the company who runs it has to make a decent amount of money. Bhvr have adopted a decent model, where their monetisation is not so aggressive as to drive people away, but are still capable to make more than enough from it.
-
Practice, mate. As someone else suggested, if you want chill games and don't want to invest the time learning, just play customs with a few friends

I am glad you found me funny, though. I always strive to make people as happy as I can on these forums
I'm only responding because it looks like you took the time to research and then formulate a well informed argument. I'd advise against it with this kind of person. Judging by their grammar and way of expression, they're not the type that will understand anything you try to say unless you go down to their level, which I hope you won't.
-
I wonder what it is that causes certain personalities to panic as soon as they lose a gen. Of course you'll lose if you play in panic mode. Get more practice, understand the game and you'll see that gen Times have nothing to do with why you're losing.
-
there are four survivors and 1 killer in a game. Statistically it's more likely that at least 1 survivor will act "uncivilised". It's not about the role - it's about the person who plays it
-
No one who's decent at the game or has played it for a while cares about pips. Furthermore, when the MMR actually gets implemented, pips and rank will be taken out of the game, which would make this sort of punishment completely irrelevant.
-
I get annoyed every time I see someone calling pig bad.. The fact that you can't play her doesn't mean she's not a great killer. She IS one of those killers that take practice to master and play well, but if you invest a bit of time, you can go on par with any survivor team - slow crouch or not. Pig doesn't need a buff.
