Pretty good, finished the Rift today, so it's all casual now for awhile again. Also in season 8 of a Smallville rewatch.

That's still not even what Otz said. He never said to disable killer powers for X amount of seconds. All he said was to make killers like Nurse lose their tokens when stunned. The disable every killers power is OPs suggestion.
There is a fair amount of misinformation being spread about this video so I'm going to summarise the main points:
- He thinks this change will pretty much only benefit the average survivor. New survivors won't be able to use it and the killer will be more inclined to tunnel survivor they believe are new or don't own the DLC. High MMR survivors already ran DS and knew how to get good value from it so this change won't have too much impact for them as they already could use it pretty well. The average player who isn't skilled enough to do so will benefit though as it makes it easy to make distance but he thinks it's unfair that the tunnelling experience won't be improved for everyone.
- The change impacts slower killers more than the higher tier ones. Killers such as Nurse and Blight won't be bothered as much by an extra 2 seconds because they can make distance easily but killer like Ghostface and Pig will be hurt even more.
- He thinks the change will back fire as it's a short term bandaid fix for only a portion of the player base and in the long term it will have negative effects - they have stuck themselves in a corner where now the only way to combat tunnelling is a pay walled perk
- Both sides have just gone back to their original metas
His suggestions:
- Either give the effect to a generic perk like 'This Is Not Happening' and rework DS into something else, or nerf DS and make a better generic anti-tunnelling perk so that everyone can benefit from it.
- Have the perk put high tier killers power on cool down (his main suggestion was for Nurse to lose her tokens when stunned) so that all killers are affected fairly.
Losing all tokens still effectively removes the power.

You know what really annoyed me about the Christmas outfits? You could only complete them after Christmas, because the necessary last page of the Event Tome only became available after Christmas.
What's the point of dressing Jeff up as Santa when Christmas is already over??
Yea, that too.

This solves the problem i mentioned in my other thread of flashlight saves and pallet saves being something that don't deactivate DS. Since its a bit hard to figure out what the constitutes, and we do a simple:
"When another survivor enters the dying state, DS deactivates"
Because if another survivor is downed, you aren't being tunneled.
Do that, and i'll say you can buff DS to any stun amount you want, hell make it a 10 second stun at that point for all i care.
@Ayodam said:
A killer could be tunneling, hit/down someone trying to protect the tunnel, then leave them slugged to continue tunneling that one survivor on death hook now. Ask me how often this happens.
I would say if another survivor is hooked would be more fair, as how often do survivors try their best to FORCE their DS value, forcing you to tunnel them out, then you don't hook them right away and instead hook someone else, only then going back for the DS user?
Also, while I don't think it should be necessarily changed, I find all the time survivors running DS love to beeline straight for a locker and jump in loudly, making sure the killer sees and hears… again, going out of their way to say "Tunnel me please, I want to get my DS value and accuse you of being a toxic tunneler at end game!" -
@Deathstroke said:
Im fine with option to hide but mamy players want to show it like me. I want to show I have P100 character. It would be wrong to take away that option.
I mean it would still show in the score screen, just not the lobby. You don't know the Prestige of the killer you are about to face, why does the killer get to know yours?
-
I think it's funny, and kind of cute, but the fact that they made it not affect your MMR but you still depip makes it just a one off for me. Once the next patch drops and depipping is finally removed, that will be much better for future events.
But right now, it's just a fact that if you don't sweat and tryhard every match, you risk depipping. Will be so nice to be able to just have fun, rank up at a nice pace.
And before anyone says that "Rank doesn't matter anymore" that's true, but it does matter if you want that bloodpoint bonus on reset every month. That matters to some players, even if it doesn't matter to you. -

When was this the only time I can think of is the gap between Skull Merchant and knight being 5 months but both dlcs were followed by drops in the player count after they dropped
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CW4DHIM9NC3R/capture-png.png
November 2022 is Knight
March 2023 is Skull Merchant
(all I'm saying is quality trumps quantity)
I could just be missing something but I don't remember any massive gap in content (then again I take regular breaks from the game and have missed major things like release legion)
That still has nothing whatsoever to do with pausing content to fix bugs. They are different things. They don't need to quit releasing any new content to fix issues with trapper's traps they need to figure out how to fix trapper's traps.

He didn't say anything about 30-40 seconds, lol, it's some intentional lies from OP. No experienced player would make such suggestion in their right mind, even against a Nurse.
Ah seems the OP has corrected it to 10-20 seconds, but even then that's still way too much for any perk to do.

Obviously these times aren't final just a number thrown out there realistically devs would probably just make it 10-20 seconds to be more fair but currently Ds does absolutely nothing against these top killers even if made 5 seconds
Disabling the killer's power is way too much for a perk to do. I will never agree with that.
What it boils down to is that if a killer wants to tunnel, there is nothing that can be done to stop them. Yea, it sucks and I say that as someone who regularly IS the survivor that gets tunneled out. -
@Marioneo said:

in the video provided Otz talks about why buffing the duration of Ds won't solve tunneling especially against meta killers and instead says it should be made a common perk not locked behind a paywall for new players and begiven an additional effect that disables a killers power for 30-40 seconds so it can affect Nurses and blights.
Thoughts?
Disabling a killer's power for 30-40 seconds? I am sorry, but what? I don't always agree with Otz, but never have I heard him say something that makes me say what the heck is he thinking?

This is the tweet, though there are many more, that inspired this post. To give context to video being quoted as it's just a screenshot, the trapper had a trap hidden in a plate on the floor, it was impossible to see. While I do think that bugs like this need to be fixed to not be exploitable like this, its' not necessary nor feasible for them to "Pause new content:"

It’s not the bagging that bothers me tbh it’s the spending 2 whole minutes at the gate just being toxic. That’s omega cringe. Do I really have to force them out like a bunch of children? They could easily make it to where exit gates are blocked for any survivor who spends longer than 20 seconds at a gate or something.
I mean, no there is reasons to stay in the match, to make sure everyone gets out, if you need to leave to go make a last minute save, etc… I get it's frustrating, but no more frustrating than being bled out IMO. And I say that as someone who plays both sides. Now, I don't teabag at the gate, but I will sometimes hang out in the exit gates until I am sure that either everyone is safe or or there is no saving someone.

Totally agree, I too am among those that turn it off due to it looking weird that no new releases can ever get it.

As someone who didn't get time to complete them all it was nice I was still able to unlock everything. Hope they keep doing that.
Agreed, especially since I know people who for whatever reason, cannot or will not play as killer have been unable to get all of the survivor cosmetics in past events due to how you had to get everything else. Like the Christmas outfit for Jeff, you had to complete and unlock everything else to get his head, meaning anyone that was not able to play killer (can't or wont, all reasons are valid IMO) was unable to get his head. Some would say that's not a big deal, but to some it is.

- Survivor gets rescued off a hook.
- Killer decides to go for the unhooker since he doesn't want to tunnel.
- The unhooked person then uses OTR or the base Endurance mechanic to body block 1 hit for them.
Killer then has 2 options. Continue chasing the unhooker or now target the unhooked who abused the "anti tunnel" mechanic to body block.
If he chooses to now target the unhooked that body blocked he has to get a 2nd hit on them. Then he eats a DS (now getting buffed) to the face. To then have to chase him for a 3rd hit, which now eats him a DH. To now chase him again for a 4th hit for the actual down.
Note if we choose to instead continue going after the unhooker, the unhooked person still body blocks all these attempts to force this above interaction regardless. So we have the same result.
Now we may say, let's ignore all this by just forgetting them both and go just randomly check the remaining gens to look for someone else. Except that unhooked is still following you and doing the same thing.
Hey though, just down him and leave him there! Except you still wasted 2 hits just to get him there in the first place from him body blocking you and he has Unbreakable for that not to matter.
I am not saying we shouldn't have anti tunnel mechanics, I like those. I'd even improve them. My point here is simply that would y'all agree that we could/should design the anti tunnel mechanics in a way that also prevents them from being abusable for their unintended purpose? I intentionally try not to tunnel, like going out of my way, and I am still getting hit with consecutive OTR, DS, just the base kit Endurance, as they are very regularly forced in my face. Maybe this is rarer at lower mmr's, but this is extremely regular in my games.
Thoughts?
The killer needs to be punished. Hard. Maybe even banned.
Joking of course, but… there is another thread about this very thing, saying that tunneling is something that the killer should be punished for. -

i even had some of these guys comming to caht after the game and curse me out for not chasing them as if i was some bhvr employe and im in that game for there fun and satisfaction
Oh I find a lot of the times those are the ones I tunnel. I'd say at least (probably more than) 50% of the time, they aren't as good in a chase as they think they are, they want me to chase them? I oblige. I chase them and only them and I hook them. 3 times. Do they get angry and accuse me of tunneling? Absolutely, but they literally asked for it.
Even have one game where, I don't remember the full details of how the match went, but this guy was trying to get me to chase him the entire match, and I did. He was good, very good… but on the side I managed to hook the other survivors, then go back to chasing him, as he wanted. The other survivors were playing like potatoes and when it was down to just him and a Bill, the Bill was on the hook so I was chasing him, the Bill died and I finally managed to catch him. He got so angry at me, told me how I was trash and I had tunneled him the entire match. -

@HEX_DEAD_BY_AI said:
Apart from camping, which is easier to penalize, we also need punishments for players who consistently engage in tunneling. There are two styles of tunneling that I've encountered:
- The killer may or may not camp, but they always target the first survivor, relentlessly forcing them to die by any means, before proceeding to play normally with the remaining three survivors. This tactic is aimed at tipping the trial in their favor. They exclusively focus on the first survivor.
- The killer may or may not camp, but they systematically tunnel survivors one by one until the trial concludes.
Some of the most trashiest tunneling tactics I've encountered include:
- Wraith: He goes into stealth mode and lurks in a corner (the dirtiest form of camping) until a survivor attempts a rescue, then suddenly appears to resume tunneling the rescued survivor. Alternatively, he may ignore a survivor he's currently chasing just to stealth and target that unhooked one again.
- Pig: Similar to Wraith, she crouches and hides near the hook, waiting to do her rushing and resume tunneling.
- GhostFace and Shape: Relying on the ability to hide or a small terror radius to execute tunneling.
- Hag: She sets traps near hooks to facilitate easy tunneling.
- Chucky: He uses the Insidious perk, hiding near the hook to resume tunneling.
- Unknown: Leaving a hallucination near the hook to make tunneling easier.
- Clown: Almost as bad as camping, he searches around the hook until a survivor attempts a rescue, then throws his bottle at the hook and resumes tunneling.
- Trickster and Deathslinger: Similar to Clown, but using their gun and knives.
- All other killers who can quickly close the distance (such as Blight and Spirit) to swiftly reach the hook and resume tunneling.
Encountering these tactics often makes matches feel exhausting, frustrating, and ultimately a waste of time.
Have any of you experienced this in The Fog?
Surely, there must be some mechanism for punishing this tunneling, right?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W0S5SAW5ODES/the-trashiest-tunneling-killer.jpg
Absolutely. As long as survivors that attempt to body block with their basekit borrowed time or flashlight blind at every pallet get punished too.
Especially don't forget those who make sure they get downed in a dead zone or high up area while running Boil Over. Those players need to be banned.
Of course, I am not serious, but my point is that, as much as I hate tunneling when I play as survivor, I do when I play as killer sometimes see where it needs to be done. I don't go out of my way to do it every time, in fact I try to avoid doing it, but sometimes it happens, and no I do not agree that there needs to be any "punishment" integrated into the game. -
I know Almo (or whatever his name is) used to, but no idea if he still does or even if he still works for BHVR.
That said, it's very likely they don't as most game designers play their game all day for work, they don't generally want to play it in their free time too, they want to play other games. Playing Dead by Daylight is work for them.

This response makes me think you did not read anything I put, not trying to be rude, of course, but I will address these points:
- BHVR has a Battlepass, Cosmetic Shop, Limited Time/Collaborative Cosmetics, and Licensed Content that they pull revenue from outside of Non-Licensed Characters, BHVR isnt going to magically evaporate if Non-Licensed Characters were made easier to obtain.
- Buying Chapters with money already grants exclusive cosmetics for doing it. For people who want to collect cosmetics or enjoy the cosmetics from the Chapter will buy it with money. BHVR can capitalize on this by making Chapter cosmetics focused more on quality instead of basic reskins.
- I never said Iridescent Shards should be "given out like candy," in fact, I specifically stated that character unlocks should be tied to a different currency since it will become easier for BHVR to moderate character prices without messing up their revenue from cosmetics.
- Dead by Daylight is not a free game, it costs 20 USD, yet it relies on a lot of the monetization practices that free games use. If the game was free, I wouldnt care about these practices, but it isnt.
Yes, I did read what you said, that doesn't mean I agree with you.
They do the things the way they do because it is a live service game that does not have a subscription cost to play. They have already reduced the costs of many of the chapters, and they have now started making ALL non-licensed cosmetics go free (with Iridescent Shards) after about a month.
As for the Battle Pass, they are the only game I know of that gives you your entire purchase back if you finish the pass. Many give you part of the purchase back, but you still need to buy more premium currency when the next pass releases to top yourself off. There are people who have bought the DBD Rift one time, and never purchased it ever again because they have never needed to. If any other game with a Battle Pass is this generous, I've not played it or heard of it.

As others said, that's not what killswitch is for.
I agree that something needs to happen but that should be something like only allowing a player to equip this perk in a 4SWF or notify players in the lobby that someone has equipped it so that you can dodge the lobby if you don't want to lose the match.
In the meantime, I'm dodging all lobbies with a Sable. I tried accepting one a single time and instantly got a Sable who did literally nothing (well at least not touch a gen) until everyone but me was dead on hook but still three gens left ... and then she disappeared in the basement for an invocation ... I'm never again accepting a lobby with a Sable until the devs do something that I can be sure nobody brings this perk.
I am tempted now to play as Jill Valentine and bring the perk and hope you get matched with me. Not going to, but I'm tempted. Dodging every Sable just in case they have a perk that most players don't want to use.. That's funny.
-
You dont NEED every character so quickly though. If you wish to play them, then buy them when you can, either with Iridescent Shards or with real money options. But to make it easy to be able to just buy everything with a pool of Iri shards that are given out like candy... why would anyone ever buy a chapter with real money again? At that point, BHVR would stop making money and they wouldn't be able to pay the developers nor server upkeep and that would end the game.
-
The only issue with a P100 is lobby dodging. But really, if you think about it, I have over 400 (maybe even 500 Ive not done the math as I suck at math) prestige levels across every character in the game, so when you dodge my P50 Claire, are you really doing it for a reason? So what? I can just play Sable who is only P3... then you won't dodge, but I am the same player using the same perks, Claire or Sable, they are just skins in the end.
But as for why you would want to, once you reach 100 then every single bloodweb is a "level 50" which overall has a lot better items in it than lower levels. Forever. If you are a "main" of a single character, then its in your best interest to do so, which is why I am trying so hard to get The Pig to 100 during this event (or as close as I can.)
-
I once had a streamer GO OFF on me for chasing her while she had an inactive reverse bear trap on her head. I was not tunneling her, I just happen to find her a few minutes later (it was long ago, so I don't recall if I had actually hooked anyone else or not.) In end game chat she was ranting in all caps about how that is not how you play The Pig and it should never be done under any circumstances, a survivor with a reverse bear trap on their head should NOT be chased.
-
Even if the killer is trying to be toxic, which they aren't always, don't let it bother you. Heck, I know a streamer who will jokingly spell out the name of members of chat (its' a redeem) while punctuating each letter with a hit. Is he being toxic? You might think so but it's all in fun as he never takes the game seriously, as killer or as survivor. When he gets hit on hook as survivor? He laughs about it just as much as when he does it as killer.

BP Offerings are BP Offerings. It's not so much "dont bring this since it doesnt benefit me" but moreso "why arent you bringing something that at least benefits yourself during this event".
I even put a section that says "at the very least bring the Common and Uncommon Bloodpoint Offerings since while their benefits are small they can go a long way".
Pardon me if that was not articulated enough.
Yes, but again maybe they don't have any of those, or don't feel they are worth it over bringing something else that they find more fun. Not everyone cares about Bloodpoints over fun, and that's fine. Especially in an event like this, we get enough BP at the end, if I don't bring a "survivor pudding" every match and instead bring a Mori for some fun, that's not a big deal.
-
@Iron_Cutlass said:
It's a Bloodpoint Event. Which is amazing. A lot of people have been bringing their Anniversary Offerings and Bloody Party Streamers to boost everyone and that's nice.
But there are those few people who bring Map Offerings, Hook Offerings, and/or Moris during the Event. Ive seen a lot of Survivors and Killers do it, so both sides are guilty of it.
Listen, Im all for bringing whatever you want in a game, but at the same time, this event is meant for Bloodpoint grinding, I dont see the point in not bringing a Bloodpoint Offering. Hell, even those awful Common and Uncommon BP Offerings is at least something leaning towards the event.
Maybe this is an entitled opinion to have, I will admit, but Idk, it just doesnt feel nice to deal with.
You sound almost like the streamer that went ballistic because someone brought a green envelope instead of Bloody Party Streamers. Not quite, but you're close.
Sometimes people don't HAVE any Blood Party Streamers left. While they are green rarity, there are a LOT OF GREEN RARITY ITEMS in the game, so it makes every green rarity item rarer than an Iridescent item overall. When a Bloodpoint node is decided to have a Iridescent item, there is 2-3 possible things. But when a much more common rare node spawns, there is 30+ and increasingly more every time a new map is added items that can possibly spawn there.

Those games are made by Epic who has a deal with Sony where they compensate Sony for lost sales due to skins and content that Sony has to provide to players for free (on their end.) BHVR is very unlikely to ever be able to afford such a deal unless you want the price of everything to double.

It's well known players get around Killswitched things by keeping the game up and going. I'm pretty sure forcing everyone's game to close would require a patch update to be put out. If so that would be next Tuesday at the earliest.
Technically even that doesn't actually kick anyone. It's fully possible to be playing the morning before a patch goes live and then just not quit. Now, your queue will get longer and longer as the day goes on and more players log out to patch, but in theory you dont actually have to log out, not even for a patch.

200% plus 100% for the offering you bring like a cake. I just played a match and got 190k and that’s at 50% so I assume at 200% I’ll be getting 400k
Plus there is EXTRA points scored within blood zones before that +50/+100/+200 is even applied at the end of the match. So yea, maybe starting at only +50% and the bug with the eyes was a major oversight, but now that the eyes are killswitched pending a fix and as long as that fix allows us to still use BP offerings as normal if we wish, then this event will be as promised.

I'm not a dev so I could be wrong, but I'm not sure BHVR can do much about it. It's the same as having to restart your computer after performing an update on the OS. Sometimes a full restart is needed for changes to take effect.
There is still I think ways to do it, like maybe as soon as you exit your current match, you get disconnected (not during the match) because as far as I understand it, that's all that's truly needed, you just have to go back to the title screen for the killswitch to register. That, or if a restart IS required then maybe disconnect you and not let you reconnect until you restart. Imagine if there was a bug where Sprint Burst gave a survivor +100 Haste and was unlimited... well, that would be killswitched immediately, but I could keep using it all day and all night as long as I don't quit the game! Hacking? No! Cheating? No! I have no idea it's been killswitched, honest! Now, granted one could maybe get me on exploiting a bug, but still.
-
I am leaving matches with 150K already. You get bonuses during the game, then those (along with all normal BP) get the modifier, so yes as the event modifier increases, so will the totals at the end of matches.
The offerings do not icnrease BP directly, they increase the amount of time the in-game event blood pools last. Seriously, read the overview page and watch a few videos. While it is kind of complicated, once you understand how it works, it really is MASSIVE amounts of bloodpoints per match.
For example, look at these totals, especially mine as killer. Plus, this is merely the IN-GAME score, it doesn't even include the +50% modifier as I understand it (and even if it does, that's still insanely high on all accounts considering my build. Also yes while I did bring a Bloody Party Streamers, and it didn't get rejected due to no eyes, that's still more than I normally get with BPS.

They seem to get refunded, like how a "survivors spawn in pairs" offering gets refunded if one of your teammates brings a "all survivors spawn together" offering. At least, when I saw someone bring one into a streamer's game it played the "refunding offering" animation. Still stinks that you don't get the bonus, but you didn't lose the offering.
Just testing myself, the animation aside, you do NOT get them back. Entered a match with 15 Bloody Party Streamers, someone brought an eye, I had 14 Bloody Party Streamers remaining.

Removal of pallets that you could have used to stun the killer is it's own penalty. Pre-drop the shack pallet at 5 gens and see how quickly your fellow survivors chew you out in the end-game chat.

Hey, could there possibly be a "leave match" button if the last survivor is being left to bleed out? Instead of losing all the BP and getting a DC penalty. It's a waste of time, and the Killers that do it intentionally are kinda petty. Sometimes there aren't any hooks left nearby, but it's still just a waste of time. It would be like condeding, and then everyone can move on.
Yes, its petty to do it on purpose but shouldn't be able to just 'concede because being bled out does not count as a kill, for points nor for adepts, nor should IMO you be able to play in such a way that it's impossible to hook you and expect the killer to be like "Welp, guess I just have to let them escape!"
So let's say you're trying to get a flashy save but the killer decides to down you, then hook your friend, then go back for you... They are last hook, so they die.. now you get to concede? That cheats them out of the adept. Or say you crawl into a dead zone where it's impossible to hook you.. is the killer now obligated to let you escape?

If a Gen is blocked it cannot be progressed or regressed - so yes, this is not a bug but by design of the perk.
That's what I figured. I think it's the wrong choice, as others have said it makes it way too easy to accidentally end up with the perk being completely negated yet you are still broken if Grim Embrace just happens to pop at the same time as your invocation. Maybe make perks that block ALL generators also kick the Invocation off? Make you start again? At least then you wouldn't have the being broken after wasting 2 minutes for nothing because something like Grim Embrace just happened to pop the same second as Weaving Spiders.

I mean we just got Maria from Silent Hill very recently in the grand scheme of how long it takes to develop things.

I am honestly not sure. I think without the auras, my "Perkless Pig" is going to be much harder. I even tried it on the PTB and got rolfstomped in the beginning with everyone getting their traps off before I even managed to find a single survivor patrolling just generators. The only reason I managed to win in the end was because some of the survivors played dumb and one disconnected. Might try it swapping Crate of Gears for Rule Set No. 2.
Otherwise, not sure. Maybe Discordance, Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine, Sloppy Butcher and Surveillance, maybe with Jigsaw's Sketch and Jigsaw's Annotated Plan?

Its hilarious to watch. Didn't shroud uninstall the game immediately after?
Not sure, I was not playing back then, so all I really know about it is that video.
