I have 4k hours and encounter people with 100 hours or 10k hours the mmr system doesn't even work properly. All it does is encourage sweaty play and cheating. With all the flaws the old system we had it was still better. MMR is rotting this game.
In other words, it might have seemed better to you, but it wasn't. But of course, when we don't like changes, we always look back with rose-tinted glasses, it's human nature.
-
Yes, especially streamers that like to advertise their stream will not be able to play the Iron Maiden skins if they want to avoid a DMCA strike on their accounts?

I need an honest opinion from you guys, if we do eventually get cross saves for DBD do you think any console will be excluded?
I originally played on Switch and have over 2000 hours in game along with almost all survivors and so many cosmetics via store and rift pass however Switch were for whatever reason excluded from Twitch Drops which makes me wonder if they'll be unable to do cross save.
This would be unfortunate as I now own a PS5 and would very much prefer to have all of my stuff again at some point in time.
Sony for sure, and in all honestly, Sony set a precedent. Microsoft and Nintendo aren't going to be "nice" either anymore. Fortnite is shown as the "See? It can be done, why can't BHVR do it?" argument, but the truth is the only reason Fortnite is able to is because Epic Games pays Sony a fee for "lost sales". If you buy a Fortnite skin on say Xbox, then go to play on a PS5, then Epic Games has to pay Sony the same cut they would have gotten had you bought the skin on PS5. While the other consoles do not do this, you can bet the farm that they will in the future.
Another example is the game Smite. They have cross-progression with all platforms but Sony. Why? Because Sony tried to do the same deal they did with Fortnite and Smite's devs said no.
-
I am getting him probably Friday, but I likely won't play him until the 7th, and even then I'll be playing Rose Marigold.
-
Having it, or any other game mode like it, as permanent will only split the player base and make queue times for the entire game crazy long.

Which feeds into the mmr system if there's no mmr system you can manifest an imaginary ego which is kind of like the non transparency on ELO numbers. MMR still causes the inflation of an ego or spawning of an ego for winning. I also understand some people dont need an mmr system to have an ego. I just feel like it encourages an ego in people who would regularly not have one.
So you would rather have all players thrown into a pool, first come first serve? That's what happens without an MMR system. So a new player queues up brand new first game, and they are going up against Otzdarva doing a Win Streak Run with Nurse, currently at 157. How is that game going to go for that new player? While the MMR system isn't perfect, it keeps thins like that from happening.

Same. Good to know others feel my completion OCD pain. Though I will say, I am definitely going to be buying Rose Marigold when she's released. Don't care about Alan himself, but I will for sure play her. In fact, I will probably wait to go for his Adept until I can play as her.

It has nothing to do with bootlicking, it has do with you not understanding that gameplay programmers not doing a sufficient job (in your eyes at least) has nothing to do with cosmetics which is a separate job that usually requires a different skillset. Would you want the busboy or waitress at a restaraunt to be cooking your food? No, that is not their job, its the chef that does that. Would you want the chef to be cleaning the bathrooms? No, that's not their job.
Do you want the receptionist like my cousin at the dentist's office to be giving you a root canal? I should hope not. She's not a D.D.S. trained doctor, she's a receptionist!

But Valve said publishers themselves adjust the price, Valve simply recommends a certain price to them.
It's too expensive because MENA countries have sh1t currency. 5 dollars cost *A LOT* for my country. Me being a student doesn't help this situation as well.
Ah, hmm. Hopefully soon they will adjust it better then. Maybe it's a licensing issue?

Obviously the Devs do something against cheaters. But it is an arms race... Once you close an opportunity for cheaters to cheat, they find a new one. And this is not really a DBD-only problem.
But I am also very sure that people dont go against as many cheaters as they claim. I think many complaints about cheaters are also because players dont understand things or overlook things (e.g. not realizing what a specific Perk does or stuff like this).
Yes quite a few times i've been accused of hacking by a survivor when playing Legion. I run halfway across the map and pull them out of a locker. How other than hacking could I possibly know they are there? Legion's Feral Frenzy that's how.
-
I play normally (for me.) Just because one player is being an entitled brat the second the game doesn't go their way, I am under no obligation to be nicer to the rest of the players.
-
@Lobos said:
Unfortunately that is just too much common sense for this dev team to handle. They don't care about their player base, too busy making useless cosmetics for the fools that keep buying them to worry about anything else.
Yea, they should just stop having the art department trying to make money, work on the game programming that they likely know less if anything about for free until they and their families die homeless of starvation.
In all seriousness, I will never understand players like you that don't understand that games need to make money somehow in order to keep their employees working on the game and to pay other bills to keep the lights and servers running.
-
That's likely something you'd have to ask Valve, as they are the ones that handle that sort of thing as far as I know (unless a mod or dev reads this and I am wrong.) Though it is quite weird that his DLC is the only one that is not adjusted. Is it too expensive due to having a grossly incorrect currency exchange, or straight not purchasable?

The 2 other changes that were implemented due to the 3 geb solution will frequently happen, likely in pretty much every game....the removal of gen tapping and the extra kick damage from 2.5% to 5% will be relevant.
So why does BHVR feel the need to basekit buff killers (again...) to compensate for something that should only happen in really rare occasions...
Doesn't seem fair at all that killers get a buff that will occur in literally every single match to compensate for a fix that will only occur in problably .1% of total matches..
Can BHVR explain the logic behind this? Because it makes zero sense.
Because if they did not remove the "gen tap" then it would eat up all 8 kicks VERY quickly. So it would then impact most if not every matches. In order to stop the killer from being able to indefinitely regress generators, gen tapping has to go.
-
I usually try to tailor them to the character where I can, especially on killers, however on survivors I usually use
Jeff's Ormond Sketch to represent The Legion (Susie)
and Toilet Heart
to represent The Pig
The Pig and The Legion (Susie) are my two mains when I play killer.

number of traps has no impact on the number of searches.
the key is in a specific box from the start. just gotta find it. you got unlucky.
That was changed awhile ago to counter the "AFK Pig" strategy. Now there is 5 boxes and each trap is assigned a number of searches, all adding up to 12 by default. Adding or subtracting traps adds 3 searches per trap, but no trap will ever take more than 4 searches.
THis video from CoconutsRTS explains how it works now.

True, I forgot about that. It's been so long since they first said they were gonna add it, but hopefully they will actually add it soon, even if it's a slightly watered-down version. I think the VAST majority of players who want it would be fine buying the DLCs again if it meant they kept prestige, cosmetics and BP/shards.
Yes, that is the only way it can happen, honestly. Epic was only able to get cross-progression the way they do with Fortnite because they have to pay Sony for everything bought on anther platform for players that have a linked account. While the other consoles I don't think do, you know they are going to make a similar deal from now on. They don't want to give you anything for free.

MMR does need to be scrapped in total- It's what is currently making the game very unfriendly to beginning players because it's extremely easy for your MMR to suddenly spike up which is why it's easy for beginning players to get stuck with ONLY experienced sweat lords who don't know what a shower is which is what kills the fun for many people.
For example: If you "win" your first ever match on DBD the MMR system is gonna immediately put you all the way at the top because your Win:Loss ratio is currently at 100%:0% and this is why it's EXTREMELY hard to lower your MMR if you've played for a long time because if you have way more wins than you do with losses then you're gonna have to keep intentionally losing until you have more losses than wins like if you had 47 wins and 16 losses you'd have to bring your losses up to at least 47 to balance out your MMR which can give y'all an understanding of why this becomes worst over time.
MMR is not based on a win/loss ratio, where did you hear that?

Bodyguard: The Pig. - Nobody would see her coming until it was too late, so she'd take prisoner anyone who tried to mess with me and make them regret it.
Party Friend: Claire Redfield. I just love her, and I am a Claire main (at least until we get Robin Buckley as a survivor, then my answer and main will change.)

What other multiplayer games keep the identity of any player a secret until after it's over? That's not rhetorical. Of the games I play, this was the only one that does that.
We don't need to see what killer is going to be used, but we definitely need to see the username at a minimum.
Not talking about identity. Just prestige. That said though, the problem with killers stream sniping is already an issue, imagine if you had 4 survivors able to check if a killer is live, and if they are, what killer they are playing? Sure, Absolutgrndzer0 is not my in-game name nor am I a streamer, but if I was, even if I did stream with my IG Name but did not put TTV in my name, you could easily check.

Residual Manifest is great vs. Nowhere to Hide, not to mention a guaranteed free flashlight.
-
Choy did a video about this. It explains what the anti-face camping feature actually does, how to avoid it as a killer, and how to be aware of it as a survivor (Kindred will actually hurt your team if everyone thinks "oh they can unhook themselves" but they can't.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8YBBqowe9E -
Well, if you are a Steam player them we DO have cross-progression with Epic, just not consoles yet (out of BHVR's control) so that could be the case with cross-progression having Legacy.

I want to quickly jump in and clarify something before things get out of hand. The "Not a Bug" status is used whenever something is found to be working as the documentation describes. It does not mean that we like it that way or that it won't be changing, and it is not to dismiss what was said as unimportant.
Things like this are important feedback and are escalated and discussed internally beyond the bug report, but the QA team cannot incorrectly classify something as a bug so long as it is doing what the design docs say.
Hmm, just a thought, maybe if you don't manage to finish up to that 5%, then that entire progress is lost? Just so you can't dribble it? I'm sure you've thought of this already but it came to mind so I had to suggest it.

also, pretty sure there is no real life murderous barber. sweeney is just a character in a penny dreadful story from the 19th century.
There was one in the 17th century, in France possibly, complete with making pastries.
In the annals of Victorian pulp fiction, the character of Sweeney Todd, otherwise known as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, occupies a prominent position. From his first appearance in print in some serialized Penny Dreadfuls in the 1840s, he appeared in numerous different stories. The tale, in brief, is about a barber who kills -

As Dreamnomad mentioned the movie (In particular Leatherface) is very loosely based on Ed Gein. The events that happen in the movie didn't happen nor was Ed part of some serial killer cannibalistic family.
I hope that BHVR stick to their guns and never introduce a real life killer.
Mothman might be an interesting urban legend to introduce.
Yea, and like Clown is loosely based on John Wayne Gacy. He was an American serial killer who was also a clown.

Oh yes, I agree they shouldn't be seen, but the person I was quoting was insisting that killers being able to see survivor prestige before the game is 100% fair and balanced and the way it should be.

Terminus isn't really a 2nd chance since it just prevents you from healing the damage that was already done.
Yes, but it makes you able to be one shot until the exit gates are opened and that's the only way to get rid of it. Pair it with Blood Warden and you can guarantee at least 2 if not a full 4 kills.
-
Yes, those shouldn't be using the same input.

Okay, then start showing us the Prestige of the killer and who it is, because I don't want to sweat either.

Change this perk. Seriously, there is nothing engaging nor fun about being slugged for an entire match with the killer standing over you — Literally start to finish — just to be mori'd once the final gen pops thanks to Rancor.
At the very least, the perk should require a hook stage before you can mori someone. Sure, they lost, but that doesn't make me feel any better.
I am sorry a killer was so toxic to you, but that's not really the perk's fault.

P100 Survivors are usually the weak link in the group, so I make sure to tunnel them out first.
Jokes aside, most P100 survivors don't play any better than the low prestiges. It just becomes problematic when I see a 3 -4 P100 lobby, because I have to assume that I am going against a full sweat squad, which is not fun in most cases. Therefore, I fully understand that killers are dodging specific lobbies.
Just imagine Survivors would know against which Killer they are going. Lobby dodging would be out of control :D.
It absolutely would, and yet we can't see Killer prestige. That's the one and only reason I hate seeing Prestige in the lobby.
-
The problem as I see it, is that it's completely binary. Kill or Escape. Did I finish 3 generators solo, and loops the killer for five minutes while the other two got finished, total MVP of the team? Let's say I was. But the if in endgame I go for the rescue and body block so that the other three survivors are able to escape and I am the only kill the killer got? Even if I did, even if I was the best player in the game tenfold, I died, I lose MMR. So, while I have 2,795.4 hours in the game as of this post, my MMR is terrible, as I am very altruistic. I also get tunneled a lot.

Where did you read this though? I don't recall seeing anything from the Devs stating that you get rarer items once you hit P100. Please share where you got this information.
Once you get non-stop level 50 bloodwebs and don't have to start over, you do get better items over all. A level 50 bloodweb is more likely to have higher level items due to their size compared to the lower teirs.
-
Yea, it's due to them for some reason deciding to put the Alien map in the same realm, but as it's a licensed map it gets its' own offering. If they ever added a future sci-fi killer that was original and included a map, odds are it would share the Singularity's map offering.
-
Basically, it's a 'second chance' perk. Both sides have them, and both sides hate them when they are on the other side. Dead Hard, Buckle Up, NOED, Terminus, any perk that lets you negate a failure is going to be hated. NOED is one of the oldest and one of the best, and it has been nerfed heavily since even I started playing in 2021. In fact, I find it most of the time to be a waste of a perk slot because it's so easily found now that the aura is shown to survivors. The only time I use it anymore is with my Betrayal Pig build.
-
I mean, even if you are right, what's the alternative? P200? P1000? P100000000000000000000000000000000000000000?
It was the same before the P100 patch, only the max was only P3. Trust me It's a LOT easier to get every survivor and killer to P3 than it is to get every survivor and killer to P100.
Plus, the same goes for killers. If I as a P20 lets say go up against a P100 Nurse, how is that fair? Thing is I don't even know she's a P100 Nurse until AFTER the game is over. Hence the reason survivors want their Prestige hidden in the pre-game lobby.

I meant the different between Wraith, GF, Pig is Wraith has speed, GF has instant down, Pig has slowdown.
If you buff Pig in chase aspect as strong as Wraith and GF. Pig would be equal to them PLUS the slowdown. I would buff her slowdown instead
Her terror radius is the "consistency" I spoke of. Period.
