That's more of a reference to the movie than a gameplay reference.

Actually it's both. I happen to be rather good at playing The Pig, and yes even on Gideon.

miss your power attack? just spam it, you'll get it eventually.

    a very fun trend.

My last question, when will dbd enter e-sport?

They tried an official e-Sports Tournament for the second anniversary and it didn't go well. They've kind of stayed away since. MintSkull made a video about it. Cant link it due to the thumbnail containing censored words, but search his YouTube channel for "Tournament in DBD History" and you should find it.

I still love Hawkins, always did. Generally the maps I hate are the ones that are big with lots of dead zones. Indoor ones don't bother me.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked yet. What data is shareable with cross-progression? At this point, I'm completely okay with the idea of having to buy DLC over again. But, what if my character was P3 and had cosmetics? Or I put a lot of hours into a character that was bought from the console store. Would Behavior be able to transfer that data over to my PC? As I said, I don't mind having to purchase the character over again. I just want the time that was put into said character. The same goes for the Rift. Will that data be shared as well?

Pretty much anything you pay for could not be shared, Sony especially wlll not allow it without BHVR paying them for every DLC and cosmetic they have to give for free. This is how it works with Fortnite, and that game set the standard for how cross-progression works. As nice as it would be to have cross-progression, I don't expect BHVR can afford to be paying the consoles their cut of ALL sales regardless of which platform you bought things on like Epic can with Fortnite.

It comes with the territory of having games to patch on console and PC I guess. Also a wider critique of the modern gaming industry. Sure, they might not want to pay the stacks and go through the formalities of the entire console manufacturer's quality certification and approval process when they can go hog wild on Steam and put out as many good or bad updates they want with this what's good for the goose is good for the gander mentality. I'm still going to use my right as a consumer on console to voice dissatisfaction because these companies are so comfortable now choosing to have the benefits of the console population, but not consider their needs or limitations when pushing out patches on their multi-platform games.

Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox community going through this right now. They've been going through it for weeks after recent updates messed with their saves, some having to start over their runs and even losing entire cross-save data until the devs can sort out these bugs they created from the past 2 hotfixes.

OH i agree, but that is still something that Sony and Xbox needs to address, that is out of the hands of the game developers themselves. In a perfect world they could and would I am sure love to be able to just throw out a hotfix immediately for bugs every time they finish one, but Sony and Xbox will not allow that. I do know that BHVR would love to get the extra feedback from a PTB on consoles, but the choice is not theirs.

Plus, don't think any of them really go hog wild as you say, as rarely do PC versions get more patches than console from what Ive seen.

    • [REVERTED] Decreased Reverse Bear Traps base time to 150 seconds (was 180 during PTB)

Dev note: We wanted to shift some power away from The Pig’s Reverse Bear Traps and into her stealth & Ambush abilities to make her more fun and interactive to play. Many felt that this change was too significant during the PTB, so we have reverted it for the update’s release. We’ll be keeping a close eye on her performance once this update goes live and re-evaluate if this change is needed at a later date.

Thank you! Wish shed get some more chase buffs. But glad shes not getting nerfed on something that wasnt really the problem. Also no changes to scream interactions. But that probably takes more work.

@radiantHero23 guess you get a chance to stay again. Lol.

Yea, lets hope that a nerf to screaming Pig builds is actually on the horizon. As one of the Pig mains in the Society of Swine with @radiantHero23 none of us like how viable this toxic playstyle is.

I didnt get a notification, but my Pig senses tickled.

I appreciate that they went back on one of the nerfs. But i stand by my point, that they should have taken their time to erase the screaming-playstyle instead of punishing all Pig players.

"pushing her over the top" just made me chuckle. They agreed, that a survivor literally cant do anything against a Nurse that is on point, but little ol piggy with her smol dash is where they draw the line?

Overall, im disappointed, that they didnt do their work to make a healthy change, but im glad that they didnt just push it live.

How do you guys feel about it?

Pretty much what you said hits the nail on the head. The most toxic screaming Pig build is going to remain viable, and I don't like that.

Sure, processes, bureaucracy, and red tape all equally suck, but that's why delegate to someone else who fits that job duty or build a team that collaborates to handle those challenges. I'm sure they could afford to invest a little into console PTBs with just the money from Feng Cosmetics alone. Feng can usher in the console PTB era.

Even if you figure they can easily pay the cost for patches, then the problem is that Sony at the very least still requires patch APPROVAL. This means for example that when another game (one of the richest publishers in the industry) had a recent emergency patch to fix game breaking bugs with their latest DLC (that extended to the base game) the Playstation patch was on a two day delay. Was this the developer's choice? No, but they had no choice, as this was how Sony does things.

  • Yes, as others have said, Steam is the only platform that features an option for developers to do "beta" options in their games, hence why they are the only way you can play on the PTB.

Also, yes turning OFF crossplay will make it so you only match with others on your same platform (Steam, Epic, and MS are all separate platforms) that ALSO have crossplay OFF.

Seeing as BHVR clearly wants to diminish Pig's slowdown and buff her anti loop instead, how would people feel about removing her roar?

As a Pig main and huge fan of the movies, I say no. Her roar is going to be the only lore accurate thing she has left if these changes go through.

Though as others have said, maybe a rework of Amanda's Secret to remove the roar would be acceptable. Actually give it a use for those that want it.

  • Yes, here we go

    @UndeddJester said:

Edit: Preserving for austerity when the PTB forum closes. 🤘🐽🤘

First of all, BHVR, we are a humble group of Pig players who want to thank you for turning attention to our Killer. We would like to go on the record as saying we believe your intent for the Pig is coming from the correct place. We have discussed the changes at length and this is our findings regarding our beloved lady.

    Her Chase

Enhancing her chase is a welcome improvement many of us have been eagerly waiting for, and we certainly approve of these changes to her crouch speed, crouch movement speed, and ambush duration/recovery. These changes have made noticeable differences in her performance at a variety of loops, such as the car loop tile on the Garden of Joy map, going around shorter loops around tiles, going around rubble & objects into straightaways, and expanding on the number of tiles she can catch survivors on in general.

However, despite these buffs she is plagued by the same issues as before, where using any pre-dropping, any semi-decent pallet, and holding W to run away as she attempts to ambush, will still beat her. These same tiles and strategies lead to her buffs becoming relatively negligible in practice; crouching makes her lose distance while the survivor simply drops the pallet and runs away to gain more distance, ergo she is prevented from using her killer ability. This makes her ambush and crouch buffs unreliable to use across a variety of similar situations, and is apparent on even her strongest maps for stealth/ambushing like Midwich. We do not think the current list of changes will bring about the intended outcome of keeping the Pig viable in their current state.

We would appreciate more buffs in this department. With this in mind, we know you cannot make her unreasonably strong, so we encourage you to take into close consideration the slowdown brought on by her Reverse Bear Traps (RBTs). Promoting unfun playstyles is the last thing we ask for, but it is apparent that these initial number buffs are just not enough to bring Pig past how she performs currently overall.

    Why RBTs need toning down

We acknowledge that buffs to her chase will require a tradeoff, and the strength of her RBTs should absolutely correlate to the strength of her chase. Throughout a number of recent updates, there has been a rise in the number of strong scream perks, which has facilitated a less engaging and unfun playstyle for the Pig. Chasing off Pig boxes and forcing pops was always possible, however, the time efficiency of doing so was quite bad due to the need to force a survivor to let go, and the timer is halted while in a chase. With the addition of perks like Hex: Face the Darkness and Ultimate Weapon, interrupting boxes has become both easier and more viable to force head pops, with little counterplay for survivors outside of Calm Spirit. We do understand that something needs to be done about this playstyle.

Why the current nerfs aren't the solution

    The current nerfs are:

    • The Pig can no longer see the auras of Jigsaw Boxes
    • Reverse Bear Traps now have a base timer of 3 minutes (was 2.5 minutes)

We want to stress, these nerfs do not solve the problems players are having with Pig.

The extra 30s makes forcing a head pop kill longer, more tedious, and less profitable, but ultimately it doesn't prevent a Pig from doing it. It is just as much throwing the game as before; however it just means the obnoxious Jigsaw box playstyles require a more direct commitment to do. It does not prevent the Pig from tunneling the first surv they see with a trap on their head. There have been massive discussions about how this hurts regular Pig play, which have typically gotten quite heated so we won't be dredging that up again, but these nerfs affect every Pig regardless of play style, even if the overall time denied survivors from searching boxes is the same. Survivors have counterplay if they work as a team and delay gen pops in line with when survivors get trapped; just allowing 15 seconds for the survivor to get a head start on boxes is enough to prevent a head pop. This +30s change undeniably hurts the overall pressure provided by her Jigsaw boxes, and working around and accounting for that pressure was always what drew people to the Pig, similar to how setting up as Trapper and having it pay off down the road was immensely satisfying, even if the Killer isn't especially strong.

The denial of auras is more an annoyance than anything, it means that the highest level of Pig play will result in a need to memorize Pig box spawns, which is just an unnecessary irritation and makes Pig less accessible to newer players because of the random spawning algorithm. On indoor maps, because they are small maps you can even accidently run into a survivor doing the box cause of how they spawn, and effectively tunnel head pops just playing the game... Futhermore, it doesn't address the problematic play style at all, as the Pig's who want to tunnel or force head pops will run Hex: Face the Darkness, Ultimate weapon, and maybe even aura perks to simply chase down survivors they want to pop anyway. Again this is hurting the regular Pig play style more than the problem Pig play style.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NIY1BNHRRMCP/5u1ttouh.jpg

Thankyou! @C3Tooth it's perfect! Nothing but love BHVR, but the quote was too good to pass up on🤘🐽🤘

    Our Proposed Solution

Instead of the nerfs proposed, we aim to target the issues Survivors are facing directly:

    1. An active Bear Trap can no longer trigger while the survivor is still searching Jigsaw Boxes. (While searching, the timer will stop at 99.99%, and letting go at this point will immediately kill the survivor)
    2. And either: -
    • Screams do not interrupt survivors working on Jigsaw boxes. <- (Direct scream nerf for all scenarios, WE PREFER THIS)
    • Letting go of a Jigsaw box will regress progress at a rate of 1 c/s <- (Better future-proofing for other types of interrupt, but screams still can cause a pop if on the last box and the timer is spent... maybe rare enough to not matter?)

These changes maintain the threat of a head trap and keeps the macro game of the Pig intact, where interrupting a survivor at select moments ensures sub-optimal choices from the survivors overall and buys pressure and time.

In the same breath, these changes eliminate the 2 most hated parts of the Pig's traps.

    • That hopeless situation where it's impossible to get a head trap off even if you reach the final box.
    • Being constantly reset on progress by a Pig forcing you to scream.

We want people to enjoy playing against the Pig, and our hope is that these changes keep the tenseness of the head trap, while also eliminating the nastier play styles. Any Pig trying to head pop you, can't just use a scream to interrupt your progress, they now have to actively push you off a box, which will pause the chase timer. We envision moments where people who don't know about the head trap being unable to pop while searching will be holding their breath hoping they can get their trap off in time, while those players who are aware will be holding their breath, hoping the Pig doesn't find them in that moment (similar to how being the last survivor committing to open the gate is a rush hoping the Killer doesn't happen to find you at that moment).

With this, we feel the Pig will be nicer to play, maintain her fear factor for survivors without being obnoxious, and be more engaging and fun for everyone.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

  • Well scroll up, we submitted a proposal of better changes to her traps to make them more health for the game and to nerf the the most problematic and unfair builds without nerfing those of us who choose to play fair. Hopefully they will consider our proposal.

Why is it every single time I bring escape capes or bloody party streamers I get tunneled out of the game immediately!!!

Like they are so RARE to get(wether bhvr ones to admit or not) and I NEVER get any value out of them

And the weirdest thing is how they know I was the who brought it?

It actually is possible to know who brought what, as long as every survivor brings something. If that is the the case, then things will be on the pause menu in the same order that the survivors are on the screen. That said, I don't think most killers even know that, they just are tunnelers and don't care that you brought BPS, they just don't care about you getting BPS but hey thanks for bringing one so THEY get more BP.

  • @sinkra said:

On Reddit there's a big thread with killers saying this perk is op when used in combo with other perks in SWF. Let me explain what the problem is. The SWFs are taking Boil Over + Flip Flop + Unbreakable + toolbox + Petrified Oak. The result is it's almost impossible for the killer to hook anyone. They travel in teams of 2 so they can sabo the hook if the killer even manages to get there. If the killer leaves one on the ground they use Flip Flop and crawl away from the nearest hook. If the killer slugs they just revive with Unbreakable. I don't think BHVR was expecting this kind of combo and maybe it needs some tweaks? For example Boil Over could be reduced from 80% to 50% and remove the part that hides hooks from killers.

I don't tunnel, I think it's scummy, but not as scummy as Boil Over. So bring Boil Over and get tunneled.

I want to say I am hopeful, but as my 'theme song' says:

So instead, if anyone is bored/wants a laugh, I wanted to share a game I had today as one of the last I will see of our lady in her current form... I was using a quirky little build I made literally to just get obsession kills for challenges. I literally just threw on the cheapest and most plentiful brown add-ons I had cause I'm tight. 🤣

It was actually kinda decent vs. our true one enemy... pallets... I've included my thought processes in the description with time stamps 😅

Are my credentials satisfactory for an aspiring Pig player? Do be brutal, I've already spotted several things I'm kicking myself for 🤣

Ps: Also hello box aura in my splash... I do hope to see you again... 🥺

Oooh really nice leap across the tractor at 3:05! They made it so that's not possible anymore normally, but we can still do it!

There’s a huge difference between acting (yourself) and being in control of random people. Why do you think Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver denied their portrayals?

We don't know that Sigourney Weaver actively declined her likeness to be used. They just as likely didn't ask her. Remember, the only reason that Pinhead is voiced by Doug Bradley is because Clive Barker made it happen himself, months after Pinhead was released as thats when he got the rights back. Before that, Bradley had no clue what Dead by Daylight even was, and still doesn't really, just that it's a horror game that he reprised the role of Pinhead for as a personal favor to Clive Barker.

My last comment that I did not screenshot was that we should end this discussion before I end up saying something I regret.

I don't know if he didn't realize that I am one of the Pig mains behind that post when he called US scummy (my nickname is not Absolugrndzer0, briefly changed it to get the screenshots) but it made be very angry as you can see by the reacts. Especially since the worst thing a Pig player could do is exploiting screams to guarantee at least 3 head pops. I will never do this even for testing purposes, but I'm confident I could consistently pull it off with Video Tape, Crate of Gears then Hex: Face the Darkness, Sloppy Butcher, Franklin's Demise, and Lethal Pursuer. Soon as the game starts, beeline for the nearest survivor, injure them, the go camp the totem. Nobody is going to be able to heal the survivor that is injured, even if they had a medkit, it's unlikely it will have a full heal left by the time they manage to pick it up, especially with Sloppy. So at best THAT survivor can get their trap off, do a generator... the others? Not happening. But this could easily be fixed by making screams not be as terrible as they currently are to those with traps.

I do not think that addon is that good, especially after the changes, frontloading the traps at the start of the match never gives them a chance to activate which would slow down the game a lot more later in the trial. But then again if you start the match with Video Tape and still do not manage to get a hook before 3 gens gets done, you might want to look in the mirror and see that the problem is you more than any game mechanic.

I did two games as pig on ptb and 4k'd on both without any trap addons.

Well, things are also different on PTB, but no it's the fact that no survivor was on generators, they all went to et the traps off right away, so no way to find them unless you get lucky. Even the #1 Pig main in the world (shown by stats) has said that these changes are bad for both Pig and survivors. He's got a series of 3 games where he shows this. While yes, he does manage to get 4Ks in all, remember this is the TOP PIG PLAYER IN THE WORLD and look at the scummy tactics he has to resort to. There is also a Part 2 and Part 3 with more evidence.

And let us not forget the fact that the survivors somehow all got their hats off before he even got one hook, did he never hook them after putting their hats on? Something is odd here.

And new Pig is damn lethal in all loops in my limited experience. If they don't drop the pallet and you crouch by it, there is nothing they can do against the ambush.

Video Tape. It's an addon. Google it.

    Just kidding, here you go.

Video Tape is an Ultra Rare Add-on for Jigsaw's Baptism. Rework: now causes all Survivors to begin the Trial with Reverse Bear Traps already installed. Change: upped the Rarity from Uncommon to Ultra Rare Pairing Video Tape with Amanda's Letter is counterproductive, as then only two Survivors will spawn with a Trap installed.

  • I am a Pig main that hates slowdown perks and never use them, but I did one game on the PTB with Video Tape and Crate of Gears and.. with the new changes to Pig's RBT it was so bad as everyone got their hats off and had 3 generators done before I even got a single hook. Then they were predropping every pallet (not even trying to stun me) so being faster in ambush didn't matter. I slugged them all, then I quit and reinstalled live. If the changes to Pig on PTB go live, I'll be joining the 4 Slowdown Meta and slugging.

  • Did once match with my "Perkless Pig" build and don't want to play another. I got the 4K only by slugging when I happened to find 3 of them together, one desperate for the flashy save, the other decided to crawl downstairs to the Badham matrress. Posted the full story on the main feedback thread.

As are the traps. Amanda comes from SAW. What is SAW about? The traps.

Yea, but they're buffing (barely) the stealth and nerfing the traps. So what point are you trying to make?

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3653443#Comment_3653443

Then you recognise how there is no nerf in these changes.

Didn't say that, I just said that I didn't rely on head-pops for every survivor. Doesn't mean that I go afk until they get their traps off. Being unable to see the boxes means less ability to try to stop anyone.

  • @Seraphor said:

Evidently most people don't understand how to play Pig.

Traps are not supposed to be a way to reliably kill survivors. Ideally they should only result in a kill when the survivor ######### up, not when the Pig stalks and harrasses the trapped survivor.

Traps are supposed to be slowdown. 12 box searches guaranteed, 12 seconds each, plus travel time. 144+ (typically double) seconds of guaranteed slowdown. One or more survivors at any given time that aren't doing gens. It's one of the best slowdown mechanics in the game. That's the value of RBTs, and that hasn't been changed one bit.

Increasing the time survivors have to remove their trap doesn't change how long it takes to remove the trap. Hiding auras of boxes doesn't change how long it takes to remove the trap.

If you're tunneling a trapped survivor you're shooting yourself in the foot.

It's genuinely hilarious how every time they buff the Pig (the last change to traps was a buff too, it made the slowdown more reliable), the playbase convince themselves it's a nerf.

As someone who regularly gets 4Ks before the last generator is done (and not through head pops) using an entirely end-game build that I joking call my "Perkless Pig" build, I'm pretty sure I know how to play Pig.

You are right, the last traps change was a buff, but this is not.

  • I am absolutely getting Dredge first and foremost, then the others later. But yeah, I definitely want to support this collaboration so we can get other collabortions in the future.

What I want most? Elvira, Mistress of the Dark as a survivor!

  • A few minutes ago I said no Pig main I know likes these changes, but I said that to a streamer who says Pig was the first killer she bought and she thinks they re fine. So that's one. Every other Pig main I know is not on board. We will see what happens on the PTB how things go, but... I am thinking that my go to build (in which I do not actually get many head pops but do rely on the traps for pressure) will end up with a 0% kill rate instead of my usual 60%.

  • @monochromeworld said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3653313#Comment_3653313

so when her stealth is good if she is slower than survivors and her ambush makes big ROAR completly destroyed her stealth ability. I mean Ghostface is also 3.8 m in stealth but he can at least instadown people. And I also play Pig and camping boxes and actually see head pops is actually fun

I mean yea it can be but it's not fair gameplay and not what you should be doing, but hey thanks for being the reason she's getting her traps gutted.

if she flying across the map like wraith it can be good but now her stealth is useless except for camping boxes

No it's not. Trust me, I am a Pig main, and only new players who don't know how to play her camp boxes.

If remove her stealth ability and make traps more deadly it would be balance. Cause timer dosnt count wheb being chased. It rank her up to B+ tier killer

No, the stealth is very much a part of lore and kit for a reason.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSGABRe_sIY

  • I will definitely be playing her extensively on the PTB, and I definitely will be using my "Perkless Pig" build (full end game perks, that around 80% of the time never come into play) to really test out how it goes... but I am thinking I am going to be getting nothing but 4 escapes despite having a pretty good 4K record on Live servers with the build right now.

  • @monochromeworld said:

Game is already survivor side and they nerf already a weak killer. They need a buff her traps for example: They should activate immediatly after unhooking and timer should be 1 minute 30 second.

Okay that's a bit much. That would be a guaranteed head pop 75% of the time.

  • Agreed, and thanks for tagging me @UndeadJester ! These changes cannot go live, this is the WORST PIG NERF IN HISTORY.

I personally like to use the Ambush, even if it is not really good. And I always cringe when I see people running STBFL on her.

But, I would agree, a Reduction of her TR to 28m (so back to the original value) would be well-appreciated. Would at least free a Perk Slot for M&A for me...

Oh yea she needs her TR reduced again. Especially since their original reason was to normalize stealth killer terror radiuses, and yet both Ghost Face and Onryo now have lower terror radius like she used to. So she was changed to follow a rule for all killers that she's now the only one that has to follow.

Actually my go to build is a total end game build and I find it fun to not even need the perks. But now with not being able to see that trap boxes, that means that build isn't going to work anymore. I jokingly call it my "Perkless Pig" build because if you never get to end game for your end game build to activate, did you even bring perks?

I am all for making the Ambush more useful, it is fun for sure, but really this traps nerf I am afraid is going to make me have to rely o the four slowdown meta that I so hate.

  • A minor Buff to her Ambush and a HUGE NERF TO REVERSE BEAR TRAPS.

You will still get Slowdown from the Traps. They are just not as lethal anymore.

For fun... The only real interaction was chasing Survivors (away from Boxes), which is just chasing and pressing a Button to put a RBT on their head.

Her dash and stealth are way more interesting, especially the Dash.

Yea, if they put her terror radius back to what it was originally. We'll see on PTB how it goes, but the Ambush has never been very useful as survivors either know you are coming because you crouched as you approached, or they finish generators too fast because you're crouching in slowly from too far away.

What? How are the Headtraps the most fun part of her power?

    @Topic:

Finally. I hope they nerf her Add Ons which inflict Mangled or Exhausted as well. Those are only used for tunneling, which is a bad playstyle with Pig anyway.

It is about time that Pig gets more love to her stealth and dash and loses some power on the RBTs. They will still be game delay-elements, just not as lethal anymore.

I find them fun because they allow her to have good pressure without having to rely on the boring slowdown meta. Now, they're going to be only really useful against new survivors that don't know that they need to get them off. Especially with her inablity to see the boxes herself anymore and an extra 3 minutes, survivors are pretty much guaranteed to get the traps off unless they don't even try.

The buffs arent really that much compared to removing her ability to capitilize on her own slowdown. 3 minutes for a headpop? Well guess ill do a gen before i start actually caring lol. She's pretty bad imo. We will have to see.

Exactly. I am a Pig main and I use the traps for pressure so I don't have to bring 4 slowdown perks. With the new inability to see the trap boxes and the incresaed time, the traps are pretty much useless unless you are going against new players that are like "Derp? What's this blinking light arond my neck?"

  • YEa, you are buffing her stealth but nerfing her traps. The traps are good for pressure and you call this a buff but its' a total nerf to the most fun part of her power.

  • Yes, it's a bug, kind of rare but seems to hve been made worse with the Lights Out modifier

  • Yea, as someone who uses an addon to add "dark mode" to most every site, I m thinking I too dodged a bullet, probably due to even if the site did go to a light mode, my browser addon wouldn't let it.

  • It's not always shirts, sometimes it's charms. Like for example Resident Evil's first chapter came with an Umbrella Corporation logo charm, Alan Wake comes with a Nail Gun charm.

  • Hmm I don't have it. OH wait it's part of the Archive new challgnes, okay.

  • From what they implied they are doing something different this year but what they are keeping under wraps. I guess we will see what happens.

I dont really care about mmr being in the game so that makes no sense saying i dont like change my whole point is more people cheat now.

Your statement that "MMR is rotting this game." is not the words of someone who does not care.
