  • Whatever they do, they should most DEFINITELY NOT tie it's tokens to whether or not other players are running it. That is the worst competitive idea I have ever heard, right there next to the idea that only one instance of a perk should be allowed in a SWF.

So, considering i`ve been doing this nice aniversary 3 i should have asked this earlier, but only now have i been called a smurf (whatever that means), a dirty farmer and a few less nice things. my take on events is when i play killer i go for my challange, i hook everybody twice (if no killing is required in my challange), then i either wait for the last gen and open gate or do some chasing just for points.

anybody having a problem with that? serios question, i`ll stop if that pisses people of.

No, you play how you choose to play, however give them the same courtesy. If you are trying to farm, and they don't want to, well respect that. Even tunneling and slugging as controversial as it is, yea it sucks on the survivor side, but in the end, the way I see it is that if a killer wants to play that way, if that's what they find fun, then GGWP GL next.

  • AH FOR THOSE THAT HAD THE ERROR WITH SURF GIVEAWAYS I DID, TRY AGAIN, IT JUST WORKED FOR ME FINALLY.

You literally don't though. Maybe at high MMR, yes, but not everyone is striving for that.

Monsters are different. I'm all for creativity in perks, but I make up for the variety of builds with unfun tactics. Camping, tunneling and slug. I will use it to the fullest for the sake of victory.

Many people I played with would disagree with you. They literally weren't happy to play with me.

    As here.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4I6K3C1RAWR8/002.jpg

I'm ready to hit any lobby, but this will be the most not fun game for them.

Except killers will run 4 regression perks and still tunnel.

That's the point. Only such players remain as killers. What do four regressive perks take. Everyone else leaves the game sooner or later. Either they play as a killer once a year or even become survivors. That's why we have a dominance of campers and tunnelers, since they are the only ones who are ready to withstand the pace of the game on a constant basis.

Well, don’t forget for the murderous side, all the fun comes down to the killing. This thinking has not been corrected over the many years of the game's existence.

Yea, I am a Pig main and I don't go out of my way to tunnel or slug or facecamp, or do any of those things you insist all killers eventually do.

I think by 'the age of your email' they mean the opposite, so you can't claim it with an email address that was just created (in order to prevent bots claiming keys).

Yea, that's what I figure, but then what other reason would I get a "fraudulent" flag? Doesn't make sense. Granted, my email is 25 years old and the ISP has long since changed their name, but those with the old server email get to keep them, as it's hosted by Yahoo. So, maybe they have issues with Yahoo servers?

  • See, one time on another forum I necroed a thread with updated information relevant to the topic (long story short, it was an in-game quest cosmetic that had been unobtainable for years when they reworked quest rewards, they finally added a new way to easily purchase it directly under a new name, so I figured that was relevant to the topic) and I still got a warning and my post deleted by moderators. So… I'm surprised that BHVR doesn't apparently care about necromancy on their forums.

i guess everyone who is in denial forgot about mettle of man, mft, decisive strike, eruption, circle of healing, legion's first design which should have never escaped testing or rather brainstorming, or freddy's rework. these are all obvious cashgrabs. if you say "you shouldn't have paid for an OP thing and not expected a nerf", that's pretty much agreeing.

No amount of testing can ever be the same as when something actually goes live and the expanded playerbase finds new ways to use it and make it OP. MFT by itself wasn't too bad, it was when it was combined with other perks that it became insanely OP.

  • You just need to practice, and remember to take everything in stride. Play to win, sure, but if you don't win every game, don't let it get to you. You will learn more the longer you play.

  • Yeah, I didn't notice the date on the original thread and I was VERY VERY CONFUSED.

  • Yea, the Bag of Holding Charm page says

Like wut? Apparently they think I am a fraudulent account due to the age of my email address being too old? Shouldn't it be the other way around? That, or I have a high fraud score, but no clue whatsoever why I would have a high fraud score.

So had a match facing Vecna for once. Two people are left I died near the end so I decided to watch how the match ended an exit gate was opened a Leon standing at set exit gate...he goes down and gets picked up then dies on hook. Seriously this is my point you've opened an exit gate you should leave since even if your in a safe zone your still in the match. I know it's not effecting me in any way because it's a random but still I question why people do that since numerous times I've seen a teammate get killed because they decided to get way comfortable at the exit gate. The vecna also had that add-on where the skeletons fly very close to the ground so crouching wasn't going to work.

I have an old screenshot where a Claudette stuck around to teabag and taunt me after she was fully healed. I run up, smack her then quickly Mori her all with Rancor, so close the back wall that the view of the Mori was blocked because I was as killer too close to the exit so the "WALL" sprung up.

EDIT: (Realized the screenshot is old, before the ability to hide survivor names was added, so going to edit out the names then repost it)

EDIT 2: Okay, here it is, edited.

  • Seems it's gotten less likely, as for reasons not appropriate to discuss on these forums, many players are saying that they don't want any more Stranger Things content, and even wanting it to be removed again, this time entirely. "Stranger Things can rot."

It's amazing how much survivors like to downplay their advantages. Why are survivors always afraid to call a spade a spade?

SWF is literally an easy game mode.

I also started playing survivor with friends around 2023, after which I felt the difference between the agony of solo. Unlike others, I at least have the courage to admit the extent of the imbalances that have SWF.

Each game is almost always dominance over killers, where the maximum he can count on is one or two kill. The most important thing is that all we do with SWF is hold M1. Usually this is enough to win. No fancy tactics, simple repair of one generator by one person.

I will say even more, I know how to make SWF look like ordinary solo players during the killer lobby. The killer will not even understand that he was playing with another SWF until it is too late.

This is not an us versus them issue. Because in this game there were always three sides to the conflict. SWF, solo survivors and killers. Only two sides of the conflict could be happy in the game. Usually these are survivors with friends and killers. Solo players simply suffer for the SWF, accepting the news of the anger of the killers. The solo player is the sacrificial lamb that is sacrificed for balance.

When were SWF and solo players happy back in 2020. We lost the old rank system.

I just want a fair solo mode where you can play fun builds and have a chance of winning by distributing hooks. To this end, I agree to many solo player buffs in case of protecting him from camping, tunneling and slug. And so as not to offend the SWF. I'm ready to give them all the Nurses, campers and tunnelers who play the game as if their lives depended on it.

I am a killer (The Pig) main, and I tell you SWF are not the powerhouse cracked SEAL BlackOps teams so many of my fellow Killer mains think they are. 99% of the time, they are friends talking on Discord not about the game, but about other stuff. Even if they are talking about the game, the most they can really say is "He's on me, Meg go for the save" which you can now easily see by the HUD that the killer is chasing someone. If you are not in chase or on a generator (again, the HUD tells you) go for the save. If everyone is on a generator, get off the generator and go for the save. It's not rocket science and the voice chat is not needed.

So i listed 4 games where i personally play and have had positive casual experiences, and you list a completely irrelevant one?

You listed 4 games that you claim do have positive casual experiences, I listed one I played more extensively that the others that does not. I used to play the others, and I didn't find them that much different, but I can't truly speak to that being out of the normal for them, but Smite I can. Also, how is Smite "irrelevant" to the conversation of PvP games? Because you don't play it, or because its' maybe not as popular as some other MOBA-style games?

Didn't you say in the last discussion that the difference in survival rates between solo and SWF is that solos kill themselves on hook more?

Also, in the last discussion you mentioned that skullmerchant has a 70% kill rate, presumably due to hook suicides? So if so many people suicide against skullmerchant, is there an issue with skullmerchant?

Also, since you mentioned data in a different comment:

Across all MMR only 4 man SWF has a higher escape rate and only 3%, so that is really not that big of a difference.

In high MMR 3mans have a 3% higher escape and 4mans have an 8% higher escape rate. Sure, 8% is a significant difference, but the escape rate is still under 50%, so while higher than intended, not crazy high.

The only "issue" with Skull Merchant is that players think they are entitled to dictate who the killer is and is not allowed to play. If there are actual balance issues with her, then those need to be addressed, but how can they possibly be even known if so many players DC or hook suicide without even trying to learn how to go against her?

Same goes for The Lich now actually… Is he OP? Not at all, but nobody cares to actually learn how to play against him, they just scream "OMG I CAN'T ROFLSTOMP THE LICH LIKE I CAN THE PIG! HE'S OP! NERF HIM AND NERF THE PIG TOO FOR GOOD MEASURE!"

The same reason they generally don't in other games.

    • DotA has a casual mode called "turbo" where the game is about half as long, the stakes are much lower, and the game is more chill. Yeah, competitive players sometimes play it, but usually to goof around with some crazy build or character.
    • CS2 has a casual mode where you get extra money and free armor and defuse kits and can leave and join as you please. Competitive players almost never play that mode, because this mode is inherently not competitive.
    • LoL has an unranked mode, and other casual modes like ARAM that give you random characters and throws everyone against each other in a single lane. Competitive players generally aren't playing this mode, and if they are its again, to goof around with stuff in a lower stakes game.
    • Overwatch has an unranked mode, where you can come and go, and the game is far more casual, competitive players generally aren't playing this mode and again, if they are its to goof around.

What makes DBD so special that would make it exempt from this? And don't say "because it is asymmetrical" without explaining WHY.

Smite has Arena, which is supposed to be casual, in fact some of the announcer voices you can enable taunt you and say various things that amount to "Go back to Arena, you suck" when you die. So, thing is, even being the casual mode (There is no ranked arena) you still get those that are overly competitive and will scream and cuss at you if you are not the most cracked Smite player who ever lived like they think they are.

  • Yea, just noticed this too, kind of annoying as I just bought it, but would have waited until it was fixed if I had known it was bugged.

  • @Slowpeach said:

This is why this game needs casual and competitive. One of DBD's biggest problems is that the game tries to appease both, fails and appeases nobody.

Casual should be balanced around solo queue and thus be more survivor sided.

Competitive should be balanced around SWF and thus should be more killer sided.

More information should be available in competitive to both sides however dodging should be harshly punished with waits before you can queue again.

This is obviously extremely oversimplified and details would be need to ironed out in a way a comment here won't do but just a general outline.

What would stop the competitive players from playing in casual for 'easier' games?

  • @Xernoton said:

No. I don't use slowdown but I wouldn't take that trade. 120 seconds on a gen would be the most mind numbing experience imaginable for survivors. A game should be fun and spending 120 seconds holding M1 and occasionally pressing space is not.

Also, it would take away quite a few fun perks like Huntress Lullaby.

    Yes, this 100%.

I agree as a Pig main that doesn't use slowdown perks.

I mean we just got an entire chapter dedicated to a fantasy roleplaying game so…and its about everything and what people have been saying in regards to DBD. Adding in a fantastical wizard who's only form of 'horror' being a gory mori is still a bad decision that strays extremely far from what DBD has and should be. If having a gory mori is all it takes to be classified as horror adjacent then throw in Mortal Kombat while we're at it and make every survivor have to win a 1v1 fighting game stage against the killer💀

Bottom line is this about a collective things and the direction DBD is going in is just not good for the actual fanbase it has and is quickly becoming just another 'throw anything in it just for money' type game

Vecna IS horror, and to say Dungeons and Dragons is nothing but fantasy, well it shows someone who knows nothing about Dungeons and Dragons.

Do you not consider this to be "Horror"?

You have to follow the rules. If you follow the rules of the game, you will survive. Though, Amanda does have her demons, and sometimes her traps are inescapable. But, that's just… another part of the game.

Would you recommend it to me? Is it fun?

I mean, I am a hug SAW fan and a Pig main, but so I may be biased, but yes. She's so fun, especially as you can play her serious for kills, or you can play just casual and go for "boops." Like, it someone walks up to you crouching when you are crouching and points at your nose, consider letting them at least have hatch. Can be only the first to boop, or can be everyone that boops. Up to you. Heh.

Also, she is getting a gorgeous full Twisted Masquerade outfit next month, complete with a Golden Pig Mask. I will say, if you want a licensed main whose licenseholder loves to work with video games, you can't go wrong with Lionsgate and The Pig. Heck, Tome 10 was even an entire Tome and Rift dedicated to Amanda!

It was the streamer The Cool Mike Show. It’s an endgame build. He plays as wraith and essentially just locates the two gates and stands cloaked by a totem to ensure his noed works. He uses Rancor (stays cloaked so the obsession doesn’t know), and then Switches obsession by using Game Of Foot, and blocks the exit using blood warden. This allowed him to be “afk” essentially until end game where he was able to get a 4k by Mori for all survivors without a single hook. It was crazy to watch and crazy to experience in the actual game after that lol. If you wanna watch the vid it’s called “Most Effortless 4k in DBD” on his TikTok.

I do similar thing with The Pig sometimes, usually get survivors laughing about it (though I did have one P100 Kate that lost her religion and told me how she gets a 4K every match and escapes every match as survivor, getting Iridescent I on both sides every single month. Uh, yea… Guess you don't escape every match actually, Kate.) I play friendly to the end, stay crouched and just watch them with Amanda's Letter (Scratched Mirror if you know the more famous Myers version) then when the last generator is done, I stand up. If anyone runs, I chase them, down them, Mori them, and move on to the next.

    Because Joey doesn't share food!

  • So since we have some new recruits, I think it's time to post the ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE PIG by our Resident Fog Whisperer, Scorpionz. While some things are out of date due to addon and basekit changes, overall the important parts of the guide are still relevant today!

  • As others have said, it's completely up to the license holder. For example, Lionsgate is very generous, and Pig is getting a Twisted Masquerade Outfit for the coming Anniversary, along with a Mask for Detective Tapp. Heck don't forget that Tome 10 (X at the time) was entirely dedicated to SAW, complete with Tobin Bell voicing the Tome Trailer. Lionsgate also at the time gave SAW goodie bags to the Fog Whisperers, as well as passes to the amusement park where the SAW rides are in the UK to Scorpionz, who is the FW Pig Main.

That's what people do now. I don't understand why this would suddenly be a problem for many. It's not like SBMM filters this at all. Dozens of other online pvp games have addressed this. The only unique thing about DbD in this regard is how it does nothing to separate casual players from competitive players.

Even then, that doesn't really work. There is another game that I used to play a lot that had a ranked and causal mode, and I only played casual, yet 9/10 times I would go against the most optimized opposing teams and get ripped a new ####### in chat by my teammates because I was not playing on, to use the DBD equivalent, Iridescent Rank I level.

The only thing a "ranked" mode really does is give those that care that badge of honor saying they are the best of the best, but that isn't going to stop them from playing in a casual queue and it isn't going to stop them from sweating for that win.

  • So funny thing, for about a week now I've been unable to actually post, the comment second never properly loaded… So I on a whim tried turning off my Ads Blocker addon for on these forums, and voila! Its absolutely sweatier. This is due to offerings, items and addons not being randomized. As killer you get optimized survivor groups when you have no slowdown whatsoever and as survivoor you get killers with very strong addons that tunnel and camp because you have no perks to defend yourself.

The mode really shows how dependent the game is on these perks.

    Sadly…

I think it has been both, honestly. Granted, I am pretty chill most of the time and maybe what most people consider "sweaty" is just not a big deal to me, but I've seen a lot more attempts at boops and even when playing with friends as survivor (I don't do solo survivor anymore) I've found most games go pretty well. But, again, I am usually pretty chill myself. Could also be an MMR thing, I know I am not super top god tier MMR where everyone has to sweat their butts off to keep themselves among those elite few.

Hot take, I think it’s a great idea and hope they make and sell a bunch of moris. You’ll see Moris way more often (because almost nobody uses them currently) If you want to Mori 4 people in a match you can use Devour Hope (which is more fun) And I think the changes are for the best.

Why stifle creativity? What does the finished Mori hurt? The 0.00000000000001% chance you crawl to hatch? It’s also stops you from being slugged out for 4 minutes if you’re the last alive (it’s happened to me plenty of time) People complain and hate on something without having any idea what it’s like, it’s not like the old version where everyone died. It’s better and more fair.

They more than likely will nerf Devour Hope and Rancor to no long allow you to Mori survivors. That was another big thing everyone hated about the Finisher Mori system on PTB, and really….

It will definitely suck having to buy all DLCs again but i am willing to and anniversary will probably have good sales on DLC which it usually does.

To be realistic though there is a possibility that not all platforms are supported. If one isn't the most likely one is that playstation won't be supported. Since PS is usually the most difficult when it comes to cross-play and progression but i feel like if dbd on playstation already has cross play and i feel like that makes it much more likely it'll have cross progression too. And there is games that have cross progression on ps like Overwatch 2 and Fortnite.

Wait, did BHVR actually say that is the reason they could not do it? Because every time I say that in any Twitch chat, 2-3 people rip into me to stop speculating.

Yes, a lot of players get up in arms when this is said "OMG STOP SPECULATING" but it's just a fact based on other online games that Sony does not like to give content for free. So the only reason Fortnite was able to do it was they pay Sony whenever someone buys something on another platform but uses it on a Sony platform. Other game companies have said their inability to do this is why they don't have cross progression. While BHVR has not given a reason, that question really really suggests that's the reason.

Game Afoot, the Skull Merchant perk that give you 5% haste for 10s when you break a pallet or gen while chasing the obsession, is not working with killer powers.

The perk was supposed to give you the 5% haste regardless of whether you broke a pallet manually or used a killer power (like Demogorgon's shred or Nemesis' tentacle), but since the last update, this no longer happens.

I tested this in 4 different matches using Demogorgon and Nemesis, and at no point did I receive the haste buff when chasing the obsession, only when breaking pallets manually. It's quite sad since this perk is already not used much, and this further reduces the number of killers where it could be used.

I'd like to know if this is really considered a bug, or if this is how the perk was supposed to work.

Oh wow, I had no idea it did that in the first place, I always just used it for my Betrayal Pig build LOL
