its not about being horror "icon" its about immersive. He is real world person actor. Playing as himself in dead by daylight. Does connect real world with this game. I dont see "nicolas cage actor" horror in any way.

So the Entity can take say a female race car driver, as long as her name is fictional Rachel Parker and not real life Danica Patrick? What's the difference? They took a horror movie actor and wrote lore to bring him into the game. The lore behind Nicolas Cage is that he was set to play The Blight in a movie, and the Black Veil set him up, so that when he was rehearsing the scene where Talbot Grimes (The Blight) summoned the Entity, Nicolas Cage actually summoned the Entity for real.

The way I see it, since the Entity can take any person, any time, any where, again I ask what's the difference between a race car driver named Rachel Parker and one named Danica Patrick?

(Note I am not saying they need to add Danica Patrick, just she was the first non-horror real person I thought of to compare to someone who would be fictionally added to DBD)

they're killer power but dev can give skins if killer controls said character directly. giving skin to wolf is same as giving skin to chucky.

what skin is talking about is giving sub-set killer powers for example giving skins to Knight's Carnifex, Assassin and Jailer. Giving skins to Victor. Giving skins to Nemesis's zombies. So far, BVHR is against giving skins to these type of killer powers because these type of skins are counted as graphic effect for killer powers. It is like giving clown Dark blue bottles and Red gas bottles as a skin. I think they're against it because it makes game less readable for newer players. A new player might not understand that red bottle = pink gas and dark blue bottle = yellow gas.

If you give victor a skin or you give Assassin a skin on knight, people might understand that skin is assassin or that skin is victor. it creates readability issues.

To be clear, it's not that they are against skinning powers like Victor as most popular request, its that it's literally not possible as they have the powers designed at the core of the game. They would have to completely redesign the entire way powers are done for ALL killers. It's a hindsight is 20/20 issue, basically.

And what happens when, since it's very likely that it's the main reason why the Finisher Mori is being pushed (even after being rejected once before) in the first place, new shiny Mori DLC comes out? How much slugging will happen when people want to justify their purchase?

Also, currently, Mori animations are liked, or at least not disliked, even by most Survivors since it's not common and usually either requires a perk or offering (or certain Killers). Now, especially outside of high-MMR, the majority of games will end in a Mori (likely attained after someone getting slugged for 4 minutes, not to mention toxic players that will wait until the last second before using the Finisher Mori on the last Survivor out of spite) and people will start to hate those animations and will likely start seeing it as a form of BM (like "let me rub my complete victory in your face with this cutscene").

It's better than it being forced and the only source of Mori for sure, but it's still going to encourage boring playstyles for the sake of the Mori animation and people will start to despise them.

If killers didn't already slug for the 4K you might have a point, but since they do, I really don't think its going to be an issue, and I say that as both a Pig Main and a Claire main.

I really can’t think of an actual reason why they censored it. Jane Romero has a big chest with several skins that show a LOT of cleavage. Sable Ward just got a skin that shows side boob. Skully and Spirt show literal CHEEKS and cleavage. Somebody went out of their way to censor her specifically for some reason.

I don't think they censored her per se, I think they just didn't completely remake her frame for the DBD Skin. Yes, in Hooked on You all the killers had larger breasts but that was the cartoon aesthetic of the game. One could say they censored Spirit too at that point, but again they didn't. They just didn't completely remake her frame to have larger breasts like the cartoon Hooked on You version.

I am such baby when its about horror. I hate jumpscare and i never watch horror movies not even friday 13 not halloween none, let alone ringu which is absolute worst.

And i still can manage to play this game, its not that scary anyway. And with nicolas cage in the game its not immersive at all. I like dont be scared but i also understand this game maybe should stop brand "horror" on it.

This is just ONE of Nicolas Cage's MANY horror movies… So don't see how people can say he's not a horror icon at this point.

So then placing a trap on a Survivor after the final generator is completed is completely pointless? Is there any benefit for The Pig to do it?

Other than points, no. Although, some players for whatever reason don't know how the traps work so in rare occasions, you can get survivors that will try to get their trap off rather than just leaving because they don't know they can. But that's rare, especially the higher your MMR gets.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

Yeah…a dev confirming that Cypress was being retired and that Finisher Mori was still going through almost unchanged despite so many people rejecting it (twice I might add since it was also rejected when they first tried to do it alongside the dreadful basekit Unbreakable) just killed any interest I had for the whole stream.

Slugging for the 4k is already an issue that makes most endgames a chore to endure, giving an incentive to slug for the 4k is just going to make it worse and make basically every single game end in a slugfest which will make people hate Mori animations.

With Distortion in the trash bin and effectively useless for most of the playerbase (the vast majority of chases end on a hook unless something or someone gets in the way, especially for newcomers/casuals) it will also make people previously using Distortion to hide while minimally helping (the vast minority of Distortion users but unfortunately people remember the bad apples much more than the good ones) to hide in lockers more to replace it and make them even more useless than they were before. If BHVR wanted to make Distortion useless to rats & endgame stalemates without killing the perk for everyone then token recharge simply should have been tied to gen repairs instead of being in the Terror Radius, rats can't endlessly hide unless they contribute and expose themselves in the process.

    Cosmetics are cool though!

Well, with the changes they are making, I think that will be less of a problem, as you can still do a Mori or not and even do multiple Mori if you wish. So while the initial few days or weeks might be an issue, once the new system is gotten used to, it will settle back into the usual routine of killers slugging for the 4K, regardless of whether they get a Mori or not.

For many of us, the issue we had with the Finisher Mori (this time and even more so before) was that it wasn't optional and that there was no way to Mori during a match with other survivors still alive, meaning no "photobombing" which many find fun, especially Ghostface mains. Now that the offerings (aside from Cypress) and the perks will remain unchanged, those of us for whom that was the issue are happy with the changes.

I know for me the issue was never the FInisher Mori itself, it was that it was the only Mori available in the match and not optional.

That'd be interesting. Wonder how the license holders would react to such a suggestion.

Possibly a method to restrict voice-lines to a cosmetic if that's a concern for whatever reason.

If anyone would be okay with that, Lionsgate would, and pretty sure Shawnee Smith would be on board. I know she once said that she was never asked to voice The Pig in DBD but would gladly do so.

  • 2v8 was not survivor-sided any more than the regular game is.

How "sided" the games are depends way more on the players in the match than anything else. A good player can keep a 70% kill rate with The Pig. A not good player will tell you how much The Pig sucks and is impossible to play.

Would be funny if we get 1million bloodpoints for each one of them

That would be awesome, but totally not happening. Sadly, it will just be 1,000,000 BP regardless if you have 1 or 20,000.

  • We did get in the livestream, they said that while they are going through with the Finisher Mori, the following changes will be made.

    1. The Cypress Mori will be removed and everyone will be compensated with 1,000,000 Bloodpoints.

    2. The remaining Mori will be unchanged, and will allow for additional Mori opportunities.

    3. Not a change from the PTB, but a reminder that Perks and Killer abilities remain unchanged.

  • A week or so ago, I was playing The Pig against a group, there was two survivors left. An Ash, with an ACTIVE reverse bear trap on his head, and a Jill. So what is the Jill doing? Hanging around and teabagging at the gate. I stopped, looked at her, then ran up to her, she ran circles around me a few times, then I smacked her. She again, teabagged, then ran around me. i downed her and hooked her. Shortly after that, the Ash's head popped and so that caused her sacrifice to finish.

Then she had the audacity to berate me for being a bad killer, telling me how I only killed her because she was a team player. Am I an only child? She can tell.

Excuse me, JILL… But if you had just left at the beginning of the EGC when the rest of the survivors left, Ash might have had a chance to get hatch. But because she stayed in the exit gates to taunt me and such, no she was not being a team player, she guaranteed that Ash did not get out.

  • Okay, first seems most are not understanding what the OP is talking about. They are talking about the fact that the consoles require you to pay for Xbox Gold or PSN Plus (not sure if Switch has a similar service or not) to play ANY online games.

Second, to answer the OP, this is not something in BHVR's control. The consoles require you to pay them to use online services. BHVR isn't getting any of that money and they have no control over it.

I never used lightborn at all when I first started playing, not for at least 6 month. Mostly because the advice was always not to use it because it's a "crutch" perk. But then I tried it out one day and my Killer games suddenly became a thousand times more chill, so now it's on all my Killers permanently.

I do know how to play around flashlights somewhat and I don't mind losing the odd hook to a save, since that's usually on me for not checking the area. The trouble is, if you want to kick a pallet there's no way to avoid the light since you're locked in an animation (and they can often follow it up with another quick blind afterwards). It gets tiresome to deal with after a while.

True, but I find a lot of times you can fake the break, forcing them to waste their flashlight, then do it a few more times. If they don't give up, you can a good number of times sometimes catch them off guard when you suddenly start running around the side, then immediately turn back.

  • Yea, putting a unique charm behind those bundle packs really screwed over veteran players. They are doing a "Weekly Charm Bundle" but I seriously doubt those charms will ever be in the bundles. I hope I am wrong.

I like the mode, I just wish Survivors had to find their flash lights in the trial. Lightborn is my comfort perk and I'm fed up with being blinded at every pallet and losing multiple hooks to flashy saves. Makes me not want to play Killer, which is the only side I want to play these days. I've lost my enjoyment for the Survivor side of the game completely.

All perks, addons and items should be randomised for the mode, imho.

I feel you, but I would say be more aware of your surroundings and learn to avoid the light. It ca be hard, but with practice you can do it. Plus, it makes it so when you DO have Lightborn.. the survivors won't know, and they'll waste time trying when you are "oh, no let me look at the sky so you can't blind me" even though you don't need to. :)

  • You already know this, but for our new friends:

Perks Blood Warden, Remember Me, No Way Out, Terminus.

  • @Peanits said:

To clarify, Distortion recharges by being chased. It's not active only while you're being chased.

For example, Distortion can block your aura from being revealed by BBQ, then it deactivates. The next time you're chased, it will reactivate and stay active until it blocks your aura from being revealed again.

it should still have limited tokens, but only recharge in chase, not a single use. That is what I and many other killer mains have been saying for awhile.

For the record, I am a Pig Main so I don't even often give the perk a chance to recharge much as it is, but during a chase? That would be good. Bring back the tokens!

Maybe even have it start with only a single token, but can get up to say 3 if a killer doesn't end chases quickly. Really make it a risk/reward for the survivor AND the killer.

For everyone saying that the DC penalty is consistent on how long the punishments are, they really aren't. I got bored of DBD for a bit and took almost an entire month off the game, played for 3 days straight after coming back, then got slapped in the face with a 5 minute penalty for my first DC in at least 2 months. That doesn't look very "consistent" like people try saying.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3792963#Comment_3792963

I do want to mention that keeping it in does actually result in a worse experience for teammates. If somebody wants out of the match and don't want a penalty then they'll just let themselves die on the hook which then disrupts what the team is doing because they're forced to rush to the hook to stop them from doing that and even if you do manage to keep them from doing that there's a good chance that they'll just refuse to play by just running to the killer, waiting under the hook to die, or, even worse, start throwing a tantrum when the killer refuses to kill them by throwing down every pallet in the map. On top of that if you don't let them disconnect in peace and decide to let themselves die on hook you'll get no compensation bot to replace them and I don't know about you, but I'd MUCH rather have a bot on my team than a missing teammate entirely early on in the game. All this kind of system does is encourage more disruptive behavior which is why a lot of game devs are resorting to making it to where you can't earn rewards from future matches after a disconnect rather than a full-on matchmaking ban. That way they can still disconnect and play, but they just can't earn any rewards even if they stay in the future matches. I, honestly, think that the game would benefit from that system more than the current system.

Yea, but even making it so you can't get rewards people would still see that as a punishment and unalive themselves on hook.

  • This is something you would need to open a ticket and discuss with BHVR support.

  • There is no way for their servers to determine if your power went out or if you just unplugged your modem/turned off your Wi-Fi. It's a simple fact of how the internet works.

  • What it boils down to is this.

    1. Supposedly Reshade is whitelisted by EAC. (I have no horse in the race, I am just repeating what I have been told.)
    2. There seems to possibly be a bug where Reshade is being flagged.
    3. If EAC does flag you for using Reshade, BHVR's official policy is that they don't support third-party software, and so if you are banned by EAC they will not restore your account.

As always, use it at your own risk.
  • As a Pig main, I say no to 2v8 because it was boring and even if it might have been fun, I am a Pig main.

  • KISS would be a lot of fun.
Maybe even a Gene Simmons "Demon" skin for Oni.

Then would love Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, and In This Moment shirts for survivors in the vein of the the Iron Maiden shirts.

  • Well the graphics of this game are not as top notch as games like The Dark Pictures Anthology, as cool as that would be. She looks more like Cailee than Ellen looks like Sigourney Weaver, and yes 100% the lobby voice lines are actually Cailee Spaney.

  • As a Pig main with a 75% kill rate, I say no.

While getting head pops is fun, that's not entirely the purpose of her power. The purpose is to give survivors something else to do other than generators. Every second they are running around trying to get their traps off before it activates is time that survivor is not on a generator. Plus, even more so survivors have to make a choice. If they know their friends have inactive traps, are they going to wait until their friend gets their trap off, or risk activating it, them being unable to get it off in time before it pops?

Been playing dbd on console as a solo Q survivor for the best part of 2 years now. Over the past year or so things have really fallen off to the point i can maybe manage 2 games before turning off my console and not playing for weeks on end, whereas before I'd play for hours as loops were fun abd it was more about mind games rather than killers hitting you in annimations or with wall reading perks.

Firstly as a console player it's so much harder to do things PC take for granted (such as, if you look backwards on a controller you have to swivel your right joystick 180 whilst keeping your left in the exact same position (this is very difficult to do as both actions are the same forbthe brain to compute -like patting your head whilst rubbing your belly type thing. Whereas on pc you just hold down a key with left so no room for error). Which feels cheap when coming up against quick flick pc killers constantly. Moving on from the console issue though i think behaviour forgot in a game there are 5 players. By making it a 60% 4k rate for survivors (this is the figure quoted by devs as ideal) they are alienating 80% of their player base for the sake of 20%. That doesnt make any sense, be it as a game dev or from a busuness stand point . It's pushing more and more people away, you just need to look at the player numbers decreasing on steam. Is it just me or do you think things need to change? I personally cant decide if they need a new game/game mode which strips everything back or if they just need to make dbd 2 and try again. (I'd also prefer it if there was no crossplay between pc and consoles as think this would be more fair games).

A 60% kill rate doesn't mean YOU die 60% of the time. Unless you are just bad at the game or unlucky, like me when I play survivor.

  • I am a Pig main and I very rarely run any gen regression, in fact my most often used build is Blood Warden, Remember Me, No Way Out, and Terminus. I jokingly call it my "perkless Pig" build because of how often I get the 4K before the last generator is finished, making the 4 perks never come into play. If you get zero use of any of your four perks, did you even need to bring them?

  • As a player of both sides (about 75% killer, 25% survivor I'd say) I think I am able to see it both ways. As survivor, I too feel like I tend to be "tunneled" sometimes, but… as I play more killer, I also see it from that side. Depending on how good the rest of the team is, sometimes you have to tunnel out the "weak link" to get some pressure. I myself don't do it, however… I am able to see why it's done.

As others have suggested, there are some good perks you can use that will help you, if you have them available. Off the Record (Zarina Kassir) Decisive Strike (Laurie Strode, Halloween chapter) are two really good perks that help if you are being tunneled.

25% of the time i win easily / win but close against a P100.

75% of the time i lose extremely hard against the P100.

Everyone seems to think "hey is just a number" and thats a blatant lie, at least for me. My own experience says that P100 means skill (and, oh well, getting a P100 means a lot of time spent so its pretty normal?). Hey, or maybe i am just the most unlucky person on DBD history and im playing against the best P100 players in the world.

And the best part is someone on reddit tested hundreds of games if im not mistaken, ant the stats did show that the P100 were MUCH better that the ones that were not.

Again, horrible change. Give me some option to disable going against people that are more prestige than me, then we can hide the prestige number.

I am a P50 Jill Valentine, but what does that matter when I am playing P3 Alan Wake? Am I suddenly less experienced at the game because I am not playing as Jill Valentine or Claire Redfield?
