I'm pretty sure I'm older than you, and I'm in red. I do not need to "get gewd".
Killers need to stop relying on a few select, stupidly powerful perks. I do it and I perform just fine.
What does older have to do with skill level? ππ And if you think NOED is OP and needs nerfed than yes you do need to get gewd

So with everyone on the rampage with the ruin nerf, forums ablaze and all that fun stuff, I've been trying to keep out of it a little bit and just, see what happens.
But honestly... Playing a killer isn't fun anymore. Unless I'm playing like a #########, running mori, proxy camping and overall being 'toxic', it's literally a game of 'if I make one mistake, I lose.'
That is the reality of the state of the game. If you make one solid mistake as the killer, you have lost the game. For some killers that are really strong - this isn't the case, they may have good endgame bounceback potential, and it may also depend on your perks. But unless you're preparing for failure chances are that's not the case.
If you choose to chase a survivor that just so happens to be higher than your skill level and you lose a chase or get ran on some of the much stronger loops in the game? You're going to see gen after gen pop and by the time you've hooked one person the game is over unless you're running something like NOED.
The skill level to do well as a killer is SO much more intense than that to do well as a survivor. You have to be incredibly conscious of what pallets have been dropped, who's where on the map at all times, what loops to win and how to run them to win them.
As survivor, you have to have a vague knowledge of how to run and mindgame those loops but at the same time... All you have to do is waste the killers time and gens are going to get flown through.
The game isn't fun as a survivor.
The game isn't fun as a killer.
The game isn't fun, anymore.
Lol thank you!
Killers are suppose to be the "bosses" of this game yet they feel like a single horde unit. I fell in love with this game because of the adrenaline rush it have me, the scared feeling I got. I know the amount of time I put into it has something to do with that feeling getting dull but to this extreme.
The main thing that concerns me is the lack of creativity I perceive in the devs. Their recent steam had things that content creators didn't even mention. For example: "maps don't seem to be too scalable for this game" some CCs even agreed. I don't, why are they set on 5 gens for bigger maps? Why can't they just add 1 to 2 more instead of tell killers to let some go. Why are we stuck with just lockers to hide in? Can't we include like little tunnels to crawl through or things to hide under? Why are we fixated on gates to escape with? Can't we launch a boat in the water and power it up to escape or call some police and wait for 2 minutes until they show up?
Like come on.

Of all the things I have found wrong with DBD, the biggest issue I have had for way too long is No One Escapes Death. I refuse to see why this perk has went so long without a nerf. I'm not going to say to remove it, but something needs to change, because I'm tired of playing a game great only to die immediately to NOED. And it's hard to find the will to stay on the hook, since then all you do is risk killing anybody else. I'm not saying ditch this perk, because I understand that the best use of this perk comes from matches that went poorly for the killer. However, this inspires toxic gameplay. I absolutely despise the fact that you can do awful the entire game, yet still possibly net a 4K due to this single perk. Ruin was changed because people hated how annoying it was, but Ruin didn't need a change anywhere near as bad as this perk. Here are just a few ideas on how to nerf this perk: 1. When the killer runs this perk, change the design/color of the totems, that way it is worth it to cleanse dull totems, but doesn't totally eliminate the possibility of NOED actually triggering. 2. Have a requirement for the exposed effect, like only have the exposed effect if 4 or 3 of the survivors are still within the trial. This will still help Killers who've had a bad game, without entirely removing the ability for the survivors who've played well to escape. 3. Buff the survivors in some way. This doesn't have to be a big buff at all, but anything that makes it slightly easier to not die immediately is worth it. Like, how about removing all the survivors' exhaustion or make vaulting pallets and windows a bit faster. Just one of these tweaks would make playing against a killer with this perk infinitely more enjoyable, without making this perk worthless to run. Please, anybody consider this and spread it. Out of all the current balance issues, this one seems the most obvious.
Another survivor who hasn't even play 100 hours yet. ππ

I think your premise of people hating NOED because it's unbalanced isn't right at concept. I think the reason most people hate NOED has absolutely nothing to do with it being fair or not. Most people believe it is a fair perk, myself included. There are plenty of counters available.
The reason most people hate NOED is because it rewards you for survivors being lazy, not because you did anything skillful. For example, I'd prefer NOED re-activate a gen if they didn't do all the totems. Then it counters "gen rushing" and ignoring totems, but it does so by giving me more time to make skillful plays instead of just handing them to me. It gives undeserved kills in its current form.
Hmmm, maybe survivors shouldn't be lazy (gen rushing) or arrogant cause they believe the killers are weak characters (not players, characters).
Personally I love running NOED cause half the time it gets me a kill. I don't hate passing against it but I don't like seeing that first got therefore I hunt for the totems. Maps, small game or detectives hunch is a sure way to prevent NOED but in reality the totems are like the hatch, they only spawn in a few locations so after playing awhile, I usually can find them without perks.

They used to be harder to play as and easier to play against.
They need to move towards harder to play against. That would solve the gen rush issue and the face camp issue in one go. Survivors would have to play more stealthy (less arrogantly) and killers would be more confident in leaving the hook...... Just to be sure, increase time on hook.

Played Doctor on Lery's, my build: Thrilling Tremors, Pop Goes the Weasel, Infectious Fright and Distressing.
I played like a normal match, I was having fun, I had no issues at all, killed the two Survivors without doing the things that would upset like tunneling and camping, etc etc, I found the last Survivor, instead of slugging for the 4k, I gave this Ace who t-bagged me all match (which is not an issue yet), I closed the hatch after finding it and move back and forth at the gates, this Ace got lucky with his position and got a gate open, I let him go and he t-bagged me at the gate, yet, I never get this issue when I play tactics like tunneling or stuff that others don't like, when I apply pressure, I played optimal, 3 gens were left, and I played nice, the one time and I asked them why they tbagged in out of the reasons they could have, I told them they did nothing to earn a tbag, they called me toxic for messaging them.
Another match I played on Macmillian Estate as Michael Myers, more cocky Surivors in some SWF, I got into E3 and downed 2 Survivors, they DC'd after midway into the game, I hooked a Nancy and she DC'd, a David tried escaping through gates and I downed him and killed him, that Nancy messaged me to say "your garbage" 5-6 times in a row.
My deal is that whenever I seem to play fair and in a good way to make others have fun, it gives them some type of damn boost in ego and to presume I'm some 'trash ez killer' but when I go on a slug fest or try to tunnel a Survivor, they all start going off on their rant on me and blowing up in my face about it, is it just a lose lose situation playing this game? I know a lot of games where the community gets angry over little stuff but by far this tops the cake.
Denial is one of the strongest psychological engines of the brain (inverse of belief). So when they lose, they deny that it was their fault; therefore it's clearly the killer being toxic.
Try playing ghostface and hide in the basement in shroud. Camp opposite side of the chest. 9 out of 10 times at least one survivor will come down for a free item. Mark them, down them, hook them. Most of the time, others come for the save even though I'm clearly doing a rain dance around the hook. No matter if you get 1 or 4 on the hook; 9 out of 10 times you'll earn some salt. Get called trash killer even though they come to you. It's ######### hilarious! Run NOED while your at it, for when they actually finish all 5 gens. I've gotten all 4 at the end trying to save one survivor. Again, ######### hilarious!

So I've been seeing a gameplay change amongst killers since well you know. They rely on tunneling alot more. I'm not criticising it's a strategy like another and can be countered. So much, that I consider the usual perkset of a survivor isn't adapted to counter tunneling in red ranks. Ds? Needed, but good killers counter it by slugging. NOT ENOUGH. Borrow? Needed, but still NOT ENOUGH to counter a tunnel.
Bodyblocking works well for me using bond to track the victim and choosing a good area for an easy block so I can take a hit or even a hook. Adding a flashlight with bond I can anticipate a line where the killer will pass and flash him. If I succeed he often loses the player. Obviously the surprise factor is determinant.
What are your tactics?
Obviously, I mean the ones which work vs very good killers.
killers who tunnel survivors (toxicity or any other reason it's a strategy like another) gimme your killers tips. An example, if an Oni tunnels it's obviously way harder to counter. Let's just be open minded. :)
PS: I mostly play survivor. (99%)
Personally during solo Q, a DC is the only option.

No, it's not like spawn camping. The killer didn't down you as soon as you spawned in. You had ample time to run and the resources/tools to not get caught.
No it is, it's exactly like spawn camping in that one player is preventing the other from playing. Spawn camping doesn't happen at the beginning of a match, there is ample time to try until it happens which is just like face camping. But I already know your an entitled killer who face camps. So I'm not responding after this.

I agree with ya dude tunneling and camping in other words (guaranteeing your kill) is becoming more and more common im also noticing a spike in NOED not that itβs a big issue I just run small game but still the camping and tunneling is happening more killer mains can deny it all they want but Iβve seen a difference makes the game not fun itβs fun for the killer but not the survivor
Gen rushing isn't fun for the killer. I think that's the point of OP. TBH camping is the only thing that bothers me about killers. Survivors however are terrible all around. I played a game where I was ghostface and I went straight to the basement and hid there the whole time. Survivors got down to one gen and a survivor enter the basement for the chest. I exposed them and got them on the hook. Next thing I know they single file entered the basement and I had them all on the hook. Afterwards they tried to tell me I was bad...... They had one gen left and instead of finishing it, they all came to me in the basement...I never left the basement. I get mad at killers more because I play swf more, I get way more crap from survivors no matter what.
-
I agree with OP entirely. And it's surprising how bandaid fixes for survivors are the key. Can't even play custom matches half the time.
They claim game map size is unscaleable when they could simply add at least another gen or 2 for the larger maps.
We ask for more objectives, devs worry about perks. Make a factory map where after gens are completed you have to use the factory to finish building a car to escape with. Or a harbor where a boat needs launch into the water which takes a fix time that survivors have to hide or avoid the killer until it launches.
We ask for more play styles like 2 killers vs 8 survivors (scalable maps again).
Make a map where certain extra gens power traps that survivors can use at random locations.
Jesus, use some god damn creative chances to prevent the game from becoming stale month old crackers.
I've only played it since October and it's already seeming old at times. I'm 7 achievements away from 100% this game. I've reached rank 1 and red ranks multiple times, it's just not really challenging.

Doctor or Freddy. I love Freddy and I don't think he needs nerfed, they just need to change the clock mechanic. Every clock I need is always all the way across the map. There should be more than 1 clock and they shouldnt be all the way across the map every time.
Doctor needs a longer cool down between shocks. It's bad enough madness inhibits vaults and such.

Just got out of a game with Legion, feeling a bit frustrated, so I apologize if this seems biased, it probably is.
I'm just not sure what I am supposed to do at this point. The Survivors sent me to a Coldwind map, I thought, "well, alright, we'll see what I can do." I got Rotten Fields, fun times. Corrupt helped a little, the Survivors mostly hid, I finally found someone and hit them with FF. Found two other Survivors, CI ran out.
2.5-3 minutes later, 3 gens have popped. I've down the first person. I think, alright, no biggie, I just gotta get a sweet 3-gen going. 3 seconds after I leave the hook, the guy gets saved. I go back, hit him, he has BT. I go after the unhooker. It's a fairly short chase, he messes up Dead Hard. Hook him and think wow, its turning around. Another gen pops. Two people injured, one on hook, the other healthy. I think its going my way.
Someone slow vaults a window next to the hooked guy, I grab him, get hit by DS, he unhooks the other guy who bodyblocks me from hitting his friend, the last gen pops, they all get Adrenaline and escape.
I'm just not sure what I was supposed to do. Logistically, gens go too fast for me to be able to hook everyone.
I also got called a "trash baby Killer" and got spammed with trashcan emoji's after the match. Was fun coming from a team using Commodious (no add-ons) and they all had Prove Thyself.
Rant Over.
When I derank as killer and hide in the basement. 4 survivors, unchecked, can do 5 gens in like 3 minutes. Again, unchecked cause I'm hiding in the basement, but still 3 minutes. I play mobile games that last longer.
Don't listen to what people say, it's obvious that the devs prefer the potato survivors side. Loads of evidence in and out of their Q&A stream.
Take this as advice. Personally, I don't give 2 shits about rank. Made it to red rank once, stopped enjoying the game. If devs want to hold survivor hands, then I'll just ruin the baby survs (yellow rank) games.

Almost like how a good amount of the time most killers can't do anything about 3 gens being done before the first down. Real fun that.
Is that preventing the killer from playing? Can he still try? Camping a survivor is preventing them from playing, that's why it's the worst. It's just as bad as spawn camping in FPS imo. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying one is way more evil than the other.

You're right. This nerf has made it quite clear that I didn't need ruin to get kills and win. I could easily have just tunneled every single game and gotten a significantly high win percentage. But that's the point. I don't want to play like that and other people don't want me to play like that. Ruin wasn't necessary for winning; it was a perk that allowed for a larger variety of unhated gameplay. If that's what you want, that's your opinion, but I can promise you that's not the opinion of the majority of the playerbase. Both genrushing and tunneling need to be looked at and reworked to a balanced state.
I'm on your side. I've recently even started using these tactics to mine salt and save messages. I showed one about the guy saying the games wasnt fun. Someone tried turning it into being about kills. The worst part is certain streamers are even promoting it, so more people are doing it.
Personally, I have like 7 achievements left and I'm done with this game. I'm starting to stoop low for them too. I had a doctor literally ignore me all match so I could get the left for dead achievement.
Sad thing is, to help OPs arguement about core game problems, I was throwing the match for the achievement. Dropping all pallets, not touching gens. Literally making it 3v1.25 and they still almost won. They got to last gen and I had to run around like a potato so he would see them. They also gen locked but they had one gen at 50% done. Bottom line is, the game is so survivor sided that 3 good survivors can beat the killer.

And one of the good things about that build is that you don't need to worry about getting stunned by ds because you'll get a pwyf ticket.
Tru3 camps to win, his video about gen speed is perfect evidence. 2 hooked in basement and he saw both other survivors.... He just sat there. I think this is what OP is talking about. He even says "there's nothing they can do". Great, I like playing games where there is nothing I can do, it just sounds so ######### fun.

I'm not saying i enjoy going against campers thats why i run ds, not saying that it's a must have perk, but maybe you should run it if it's such a common occurrence in your game, you have to expect killers to camp sometimes like for instance after all gens completed, so why not just run it just in case? Good killer can afford to not camp but most killers don't fall on that category. I kinda don't blame killer for camping nowadays like i used to
Sad thing is, I run BT. My friends run DS. They still tunnel the first survivor into the ground.
I've taken a hit before unhooking to make time for the unhook and try to block or get their attention only to have them run around and tunnel the other survivor into the ground.
Just a game or 2 ago, I managed to take 2 hits trying to stop this legion from tunneling. Only for him to leave me and continue his chase. Bottom line is, I don't want to be forced to a specific build because killers can't play. I like the perks I run.

Everything else you can take? There's nothing left to take π. Sadly some killer feel compelled to do this as players usually attempt to unhook before getting to second state, and unless hooked in basement, players will make it happen even if they have to trade
I'm just saying I can handle BT, DS, DH, NOED, hillbilly and anything else people usually complain about. Paying against the new doc over and over again is starting to get to me.
But campers really just ruin the game, and not just for the hooked survivor. Some streamers do it and cry about gen speeds. "Game is too short so I need to camp and end the game quicker" such sound logic.
Ironically, the devs said they changed ruin and want to destroy gen slow down perk synergy because sitting at a gen for too long is stale. The counter to camping, is sitting on the gens the whole time, where is the deterrent for that?

In order to deal with the giant Ruin nerf, killers have had to change their playstyles in order to compensate for the new found ease of genrushing. I've tested out a few things like different perk builds, but what's proven to be most effective isn't perks, but slugging and especially tunneling. I never played using those tactics before because they just ruined the fun of the game for a number of players. However, nowadays it's become something of a necessity to stand a chance against people playing at their best.
Tunneling kind of reminds me of my stance on swf groups. When they use optimal tactics, it's just unfun and unfair to play against them. Now that I've started tunneling when the need arises, I can say the same about killers using this optimal tactic: unfun and unfair. Unfortunately, it's also become a necessity in a number of cases. The only way to stop the complete crush of a genrush is to get rid of a survivor asap.
I think most players hate both genrushing and tunneling, yet both have become so necessary for competitive gameplay that it's ruining the fun of the game. I honestly wish the devs would get their act together and seriously try to fix the core problems with the game nowadays instead of using perks, powers, and other bainaid fixes to try to counteract them. Hex: Ruin did need to be reworked, but it needed to be reworked simultaneously with genrush issues which in turn needs to be reworked simultaneously with tunnling issues cause genrushing and tunneling are just the different sides of the broken gameplay coin that destroys player fun.
For years, players have been asking for gameplay changes for massive amounts of intentional disconnects, tunneling, genrushing, camping, and ridiculously long chases; yet all we ever seem to get are minor bandaid fixes that do nothing to solve the primary problems that concern the community. The annoying part is these issues really wouldn't be that hard to solve if BHVR put a reasonable amount of resources into them. They just don't seem to care about what the majority of the playerbase cares about.
I know killers are being ######### on by the devs right now. I even get the do whatever it takes to do your job, but seriously camping it's still so bad. I'm trying to get my wife to enjoy the game and it's bad enough our ranks are so severely different (I've deranked numerous times but it's too easy to rank as survivor) but when killers camp and tunnel her, it's really hard to get her to enjoy the game.
Not to mention the grind increases for those games since your stuck earning half the possible points. There is almost no way for her to practice the game if she has to wait the 20 minutes wait time and then sits on a hook for 3-4 minutes of a 6-8 minute game.
Camping and tunneling is literally the only thing about this game, I truely despise. Everything else I take because it's in the game so it's fair game. NOED, I just cleanse the totems. Old hex ruin, I just cleansed the totems. Doctor, I just run around constantly and usually die. Freddy, like Deadpool to Juggernaut I just drool over my idol. Killers standing 5-10m away on first hook, really just makes me hate the game.

You keep doing it, lol. Just big ol whooshhes one after the other. I told you this already champ, those other options you suggested in this very specific situation were not only bad, but wrong as well. I have all sorts of options, I could leave, quit, let them escape--list goes on. Not all options are good ones and I picked the best one. For the last time, if you want to question my judgement on matches I've got loads of opportunities for you that will continue to prove your logic is flawed. Take one and learn something other than being someone who brags about being toxic.
Dude, just own up to it. You think camping is necessary to win.

Guy, youve already proven on the other thread that you missed the point. It just keeps going over your head--I'm not sure that can be helped. If you are obsessed with the thought of me trying to showcase how to win ( regardless of these stupid fast gen speeds which IS THE POINT OF THIS VIDEO) then check out other youtube videos of mine or flat out watch the raw, uncut streams where I play the DbD. Itll be way more helpful for you than you intentionally deranking, being toxic and still not winning.
No I didn't. I just called you out as a camper because that's what you did. Yea gens go fast, so you camped because it was "your only option". Clearly it wasn't.
-
Wow, bringing up camping again. Nice. Let me guess chasing one of the 2 survivors he clearly saw wasn't an option. Faking a Chase and doubling back wasn't an option. Spawn killing in FPS is probably "morally viable" in your opinion to, cause it's the"smart" way to win right?

3 gens down and 1 hook?
I guess if you're putting too much time into chasing someone or they're a really good team.
No not really, most of the time it's eaten up by finding a survivor in the first place. If you take 30 seconds to spot a survivor 20-30m away, it'll probably take another minute to down them unless you have some sort of insta down. 90 seconds for 3 other survivors on 3 separate gens is enough to complete them all.
I think that's the real issue with this community and the devs. Being oblivious to math.
If gen speeds are untouchable then simply add another gen (especially on the larger maps, unscaleable my ass). Instead of 8 gens with 5 gens needing fixed, make it 9 to 6 or 10 to 7. This adds more time without needing to change gen speeds or "adjusting" tool boxes. With this method, map variations are limited only by the devs creativity and the size would be scalable.
Personally I've been on a mission to get face camping / camping but seeing the ######### the killers side has been getting from the devs, I no longer blame them. How else are they suppose to do their jobs when the game itself holds the survivors hands.
-
I'm not quoting any individual posts here cause they are all just ridiculous.
The company needs to make money to pay the devs to fix it. Don't get upset that you haven't bought a character that is required for a challenge.
Stop telling people to drop the game. Lobby times are bad enough as is.
As a survivor main, I admit to not working on gens and not being chased, yet I still see wins and pips. So killer side does need a buff and survivor ranking system needs a Nerf. Otherwise lobby times will just get worse as well as camping.
Personally I would enjoy the game more if the killers were harder and little more scarier. I enjoy god mode nurses and wall hack Myers, never won against the latter. What I don't enjoy is killers resorting to camping for kills because they are helpless.

Yeah, they should consider console players too.
And its not clear how can you disable it even on PC because @wispy6 did not explain it completly.
@Peanits, do you have any knowledge of that? If it really can be disabled in game files then adding an option in the settings would be almost no work, right?
I wasn't implying that you weren't considering consoles players in your post. I was stating that @wispy6 posts only works for PC players. So them saying there was an option by changing some file's code isn't available for console players.

Ah well I wasnt really thinking about doing it for start of the match, just for end game if I have sucked hard lol but that does sound like fun, sometimes you just gotta create your own fun.
Well I use to run wraith and just hide in the basement when I deranked. Get up and do something else. But when I have nothing to do, just sitting there was boring. But I noticed 9/10 times people visit the basement for that guaranteed chest. The wraith decloaking was usually too slow to grab so I switched to GF since he has the ability to expose survivors. I either get a yank or a one hit. Plus the crouch just adds icing to the cake.
I even respond to some messages with stay out of the basement when I'm fappin it.

You can turn it off go to ingame files and go to game user setting and you type false for it off.
For PC, what about consoles?

You know sometimes when I have a bad match and doors get powered, I go down to basement and just pretend to go afk, because survivors can be cocky little bumholes lol you know at least 1 or 2 will come and run around you when your not moving, but yes I'll go basement and stand near chest, wont directly look at it but leave myself enough space to grab them from chest when they dare to try open it πππ ππ i always hook them, but I will let them get unhooked and leave. I just do it to make myself feel better about a bad match, as it always makes me chuckle when they think I'm not by my control and I'm not going to dc because what's the point of losing my blood points, ππ I want my bloodpoints
If you want a real good chuckle, try this:
Run GF, immediately go to the basement while in shroud and crouch. Hide on the opposite corner of the chest and wait. It might take a minute (maybe even a match or two) but eventually someone wanting a free item or to just get a few extra BPS will come down to open that thing. Stalk them,Expose them, down them and hook them. Guaranteed to cause them to ######### their pants. After that you can leave them so they can be unhooked or what I like to do, is a "rain dance" where I twirl, teabagging in a circle around the basement hook. I still let them go but I just like making a scene. I started doing this when I derank and it hasn't got old yet. I get all kinds of mixed mail about it too.

Or you know BHVR could attempt to fix why both survivors and killers are finding DC'ing is the best solution.
Hell if making Ruin less "frustrating" for new survivors was their primary objective with the ruin change, a simple tutorial regarding hex perks and totems would have sufficed or provided a stop-gap measure until the could address the underlying problem. But no lets be oblivious and tell players of game with a declining returning population to go play another game. How are survivor queue times at red ranks right now?
I was originally talking to someone else. I didn't realize a different person was responding to my sarcasm with their own π
