I know most people know how toxic people can get in this game but in my personal experience, I have never seen anything so bad. First, I get hateful & salty messages almost after every killer game I play. Doesn’t matter if I play good or bad. Fair or cheap. It still comes in.

But what’s even worse is some things that have been said. My 4 year old son was called names by someone. I had another guy who ddosed me and stalked me, trying to find as much info about me as he could. And just recently, some dude slandered me by saying I’m into younger girls and a pedophile. I notified him that’s illegal but I don’t plan on doing anything since it’s just over text... I’m not being hyperbolic or exaggerating any of this either.

Idk if anyone else’s has had an experience with the playerbase that is this bad but it’s absolutely draining. I’m so sick of it that I don’t even wanna bother playing much anymore

There are tons of salty people in every game so learn not to take anything seriously. Just report normal salt and move on, let those people complain and for more serious instances like threats of stalking and/or violence then screenshot them and if something suspect happens in real life then take it to the police.

Apparently with just purple - not even ultra rare - addons, the Spirit can extend the travel distance while fading and remove completely any sound while phasing, this without any counter-benefit to balance.

This simply resulted in zero chases because all the survivors got caught instantly while doing gens.

So my match was to unhook everyone and occasionally juke and lose her (by chance I was playing a zero-traces build), but she managed to get 3 kills and only 3 gens were done.

This is directly related to the addons rather than any form of skill on the killer side.

    Good job devs! :)

You do know grass and footsteps exist right? It's more to do with a lack of situational awareness on your part, don't rely on a terror radius to tell you when a killer is coming.

  • Stuff like this is why killers run noed and/or blood warden.

  • It does happen as a bug on PC as far as I know but not sure about console. If after updating the game, the player opens dbd from the 'manage download' page instead of the game libary the player will get the anti-cheat error after about 5 - 10 minutes or if steam screws up a bit.

Verifying the games file integrity, redownloading the update and opening from libary fixes this.

There are legit cheaters on occassion though but often it will be the bug.

I thought geting killer vials is so easy, wasnt that what all survivors complained about?

Btw, the original plan was to have only 15 vials on each side, so consider your suggestion to be carried out already since you can gain 30 only on survivor now

Getting killer vials so easy ? Are you joking ? You get max 2 games per hour. Now most survivors don't even bother taking event offerings so you are stuck with the 3 hooks you get by default and your own offering which makes it 2 games per vial necessary....and then you even get tryhard teams who even try to bodyblock you out of your well deserved event hook....give me a break

    I am not joking.

Right at the start of the event, countless of threads poped up claiming that its a killersided event, farming vials as killer would be so easy and that it is so unfair for the survivors

Those complaints were more towards the fact that killers could farm vials through normal gameplay while survivor's had to go a bit out of their way to farm since unlike other events their currency this time isn't tied to gens.

Most of the complaints were happening during the first 40 hours though and then most survivors figured out how to effectively farm the vials and were quickly done before going over to killer.

Wow, that is really, really dumb.

NO. It's harder to play killer so it's fair.

How exactly are you interpreting the comments? If your saying it's fair for survivors to not get bonus BP after reaching 30 vials because killer is harder then that makes no sense at all.

    elaborate if I'm wrong.

The nerf was a good thing, as no killer should be rewarded for bad plays with a speed boost.

And how about the survivor abusing broken loop spots?
They get rewarded for exploiting bad map RNG?

True, but what's more common? A survivor knowing these spots and being able to use them in such a manner, or a bad killer not knowing how to chase correctly?

I'll tell you. It's the bad killer.

What rank are you? Because the majority of survivor and killer games I've been in between ranks 7 - 1 has involved at least 2 survivors being competent enough to abuse loops in the most efficient manner possible. Maybe your matchmaking luck is different to mine and others but survivors being efficient is much more common than a bad killer.

Rank 1 (Billy, Wraith, Myers, Trapper, Freddy, Doc) You are incorrect. Maybe you're just a bad killer? Maybe you need to improve your chases?

Why do people always ask that? Like rank means anything other than time played.

Which points exactly was I incorrect?

What parts of my post say I have trouble with chases? I know the tricks and when it's smart to just leave someone alone and my games go great most of the time. Not saying I don't need to improve on things but your post suggests you underestimate me.

Rank doesn't equate to skill exactly but it does factor into matchmaking which can affect who you get in your games and that's why I asked, not because I believe your bad.

  • You can avoid it by identifying gens close to each other and spread completed gens out early game to avoid this late game.

If killer does it early game though then survivors just need to spread out and each work on a seperate gen, killer can only protect 1 at a time and leave 2 open to be worked on so just rotate and you will eventually get the gens.

  • You wanted counters to ultra-rare add-ons so here you go.

Bloody coil: have an injured person disarm or have a strong medkit to heal yourself, preferably while trapper is chasing someone else.

Iridescent stone: keep an eye out for trap locations and remember any set trap locations, simple enough.

Waterlogged shoe: stay away from traps and/or use a flashlight to destroy traps.

Mint rag: same as waterlogged shoe, distsnce + flashlight.

Iridescent king: since when has doctor add-on afflictions ever been a threat? Simple observation and memory on the survivors part counters it.

Red paint brush: freddy is slower so easier to loop him into oblivion, don't stay on a gen or totem when transition starts and use your eyes to spot him instead of relying on TR if your asleep.

Black box: This is OP? Waking up is easy and there's always the common thing of spawning next to an ally and have them wake you up. Almost useless add-on.

Judith's tombstone; don't stay in his FOV t-bagging at every pallet, ew3 takes forever to get with this add-on + his slower than normal. If by some massive screw-up on the survivors part he gets ew3, just hide in a locker to prevent mori and force him to hook you.

Fragrant Tuft of hair: takes forever to get ew3 and by the time he gets it 3-4 gens should've been done already+ depending on map he can still get looped enough for other survivors to escape.

Iridescent head: Dodging up to 3 hatchets per chase, simple enough against all except the best huntress players. She's horrible in chases without hatchets so if you dodge them all you loop her for 5 gens and gates or get away when she reloads while hoping your teammates are at least half as capable as you.

Rule set no. 2: more useless than black box. Just memorize any boxes you come across.

Amanda's letter: keep your eyes peeled for her and don't let her use LoS blocking loops against you. Only has 1 or 2 traps which allows more gen rush.

Tattoo's middle finger: 6 second aura reveal on someone you most likely already see, yea not the most useful add-on.

Redhead's pinky finger: same with huntress, just dodge the bottles. Don't stay close to clown and keep moving unpredictably.

Coxcombed clapper: his wailing bell is silent but keep your eyes peeled and don't go into enclosed spaces and it shouldn't pose a threat.

"All seeing" spirt: he can see gens being worked on but he can't be everywhere at once, team just has to work on multiple gens while his chasing someone else and he can only watch in despair as he watches gens get finished. Only a threat at the start of the game where all gens start at 0. (This honestly should've been surveillance)

Mother-daughter ring: increased movement speed is nice but she is forced to be unable to see stratchmarks while using haunting, easy to juke her while in chase. This is really better for map pressure rather than chases.

Fathers glasses: oh she can see blood while haunting.... cool.  Not a big threat if you know how to mindgame and loop her or you know.... not get hit in the first place.

Ultra rare add-ons are supposed to be strong and yet most are actually weak when you know what your doing with only a few being truly terrifying.

  • Are the devs aware of nurse's animation/sound bugs that often occur when she is charging her blink? It is extremely annoying to hear her moans going extremely fast while trying to focus.

Okay, there's still problems with that. Let's say you get matched to an SWF squad. Let's say there's one guy, Kingshitlord, who is obviously like the leader of the squad. What if every time you matched to this squad and no matter your best attempts you're ONLY able to get Kingshitlord every time? So therefore, Kingshitlord can make up some BS and cry to the devs to get you banned.

If the devs are going off of screen shots then the guy playing victim can construct a narrative based on 5-6 screen shots even if the matches are more than a week apart. Like say, you get matched to the guy twice then next week it was once then the week after it was three times.

Not to mention that Kingshitlord can tell his SWF buddies to report you as well.

You see how this can be abused?

No, because it is extremely rare to see the same players over and over and over again. Once or twice maybe, but you will probably see at least another group in between or after a back to back match. What you are failing to see is the history of the situation. 1-2 games is not going to ban you. Now if you are 10-15 games and the only person you kill is Kingshitlord then maybe you will have some issues.

The real issue is you are looking at a 1% chance of what you described happening. Again this is a repeatable behavior that is deemed as harassment. The times I do see players in the same lobby are when they are stream sniping a streamer. You should worry less about being banned from this report more about things that will actually matter like verbally harassing players to [BAD WORD] or Racial slurs because unfortunately, that is way more common.

I don't know what rank your at but at ranks 3-1 it's not uncommon to see a short list of people repeatably throughout your sessions.

The devs have gotten a lot of flak for their unreliable report system in-game and taking out the other one months ago and the recent video's of tru3 getting streamsniped + sandbagged by trolls sparked intense conversation about it. In haste to quiet it down and take the heat off they rushed out a new report guideline but failed to address the gray areas and/or make things too vague.

  • Any update on when the report system that was supposedly being tweaked will finally be done?

  • Ranked is a complete mess to be honest. It's pretty easy to rank up which puts people with less than 50 hours up against people with 1000+ hours and it's an issue not limited to rank 1.

Improvements to the rank system is a heavily requested thing and hopefully it happens or some progress towards it within the rest of the year but for now we have no choice but to deal with broken matchmaking.

  • Any plans to address long matchmaking queues at red ranks since it can often takes a while like after x mins expand the ranks of survivors the game searches?

  • Saying this chapter is completely survivor sided is stupid.
They got 2 good perks, big deal. Killers got 3 good perks, a new killer that while she may still nees a slight buff or 2 is fun to play and most importantly, some problematic loops in earlier maps got FIXED!

Chapters are SUPPOSED to have new and good things for both sides + don't forget that killers have gotten some nice buffs and survivors have been nerfed over the past few months so what's the big deal with survivors getting some nice things?
  • Hillbilly's chainsaw can be countered by not running in a straight line, looping him around objects he can't chainsaw around and using vaults so he either misses chainsaw or is forced to M1.

Hag has the crouch over places you think there are traps and don't run through predictable loops carelessly.

Nurse probably will be nerfed sometime in future once more killers are viable at high rank and the nerfs will most likely address 3+ blinks and maybe max range add-ons but it still won't really change much for good nurses that don't need add-ons. (Side note: If your trying to deal with nurse the same way as every other killer then your doing it wrong, instead of pallet looping try constantly losing LoS with walls and as many objects as possible. Try picking up urban evasion and iron will as they help tremendously against nurse).

TLDR: Hag and Hillbilly have enough counterplay and don't need nerfs while nurse is likely getting nerfs at a later date to address the more OP stuff she can do.

  • SEXUALLY OBJECTIFY EVERYONE PLEASE. WE'LL CREATE A BEAUTIFUL WORLD.

Only if myers is the first.
  • I just laugh at survivors who tea-bag because they're stupidly wasting time doing it while they could've put more distance between us instead.
Even better when they cry in post-game chat saying it's impossible to lose the killer.

  • Any word on when the issues with the pigs bugged add-ons like crate of gears will be getting fixed?

  • OH MY GOD! Punishing a camping killer is so easy why the hell are people still complaining?

DBD has an influx of new players on ps4 so of course they aren't going to immediately know the ins and outs of the game. Give them time and they will eventually learn camping, while sometimes nessacary is actually detrimental and it's best to just keep chasing one after another.

If the killer is camping you, do not suicide and just let your team rush the gens and escape.

If the killer is camping someone else then unless you have BT just rush the gens, the killer will only get 1 kill and the low score + not ranking up will incentivize them to not camp.
  • Apparently devs are planning to fix totem spawns so they're not so easy to find which is coming "soon".

In the meantime enjoy having 3 totems spawn in groaning storehouse.

I really REALLY feel like the developers should at least talk to some of the streamers that play both survivor and killer regularly if they don't play their own game.

Heh. The only ones that the developers listen to are the survivors review bombing their game in protest over small changes. They seek to keep the majority happy.

It's some nice wishful thinking though. Streamers who actively play both sides should be listened to. It'd be amazing if @not_Queen, in her community manager role, could reach out to most and ask them to make a list of the things they like the most with DbD and the things that they dislike the most.

Good players are in fact in touch with the devs about the balance. OhTofu is one them, but Tru3 is not cuz well, if you play this game enough you actually know he is not that good of a player, he is good streamer, but mediocore player.

Yeah he is mediocre because he refuses to play tactically, but at the same time playing tactically is considered toxic by survivors..... its kinda funny tbh

Using Thanatophobia or Ruin on m1 killers instead of Enduring and tries to Bloodlust on safe pallets & Jungle Jyms. He even respects pallets when he uses Enduring and gets looped for 5 gens cuz of that.

Also all Survivors that are half capeable (not r20's) are SWF for him.

Thats not refusing to play tactically, its pure stupidity and ignorance.

"Tries to bloodlust on safe pallets & jungle gyms"?
Are you 100% sure you watched tru3 or just mistook whatever other streamer for him?

  • Do killers even need BL3?
The only time I ever got to BL3 was when a solo dwight had to suffer a 3 man swf dc so I followed him around and while letting him get gens and hatch, have never gotten past BL2.

  • Because the pallets were inconsistent and needed to be fixed.
everyone was expecting pallets to be buffed and as long as it isn't bringing back the vacuum then no big deal.

  • @Eninya said:
His new "Injure-on-Disarm" addon is overpowered. No counterplay to it. If he gets to key spots, such as his totem first, there's no dealing with it. It completely does away with the need for a late game perk like NOED or Remember Me. I was hoping it would make disarming take forever instead...

All I ever wanted for him was faster trap setting, and traps that blended in better.

After the first time it happens everyone knows about the add-on and can easily play around it. If someone is injured then they can just go around and disarm traps while trapper is busy.

  • If a survivor is right on the other side of a window then they can still be hit through it, windows aren't magical so a killers arm can still reach through it a bit.
Trust me when I say there are far more pressing hitboxes to fix then windows.

  • @Baphomett said:
Willy Wonka, the Jonny Depp version.  Tell me he doesn't rack up some sweet kills - blowing people up, drowning them in chocolate, making them float into a giant fan (almost), etc.

Make his new map full of wierd deathtraps and call it the Salt Factory.  When you get hooked,  oompa loompas come out of the woodwork to sing a song about why t-bagging is rude.

Even if that isn't put into the game, someone needs to make a youtube video of that at the very least.

  • Not as powerful as people say, NOED can be rendered non-existent by survivors having the foresight to expect it and cleanse any totems they see before popping all 5 gens.
Granted it is the killer version of DS and I expect it to be nerfed in the future but with current balance + shoddy map design I think it will still be around for a while longer.

  • Sprint burst already got nerfed and it isn't the hardest thing in the world to counter.
DS is already getting a nerf soon so it won't be a big issue much longer.
NOED is easily countered by survivors having the foresight to break all totems before finishing gens.

Also your writing comprehension could use some work.

  • @rObLoCo said:
can we make 2 blinks max for the nurse, also can you keep her from blinking through pallets, put a cross on it and call it sacred I don’t know. It sucks to not be able to really use the pallets vs her

There's your problem if your getting rekt by nurse, DO NOT PALLET LOOP HER LIKE EVERY OTHER KILLER!

Nurse requires more skill to beat, knowing where LoS breakers are and utilizing them to lose her mid chase is the key to juking her, not the usual brain-dead run around stuff 3-4 times before dropping the pallet, rinse & repeat.

Iron will & urban evasion also gives average nurses a hard time so try mixing those in your builds.

  • The game may be a bit killer favored but when looking at all the maps in general there is actually far more maps that are survivor sided like ironworks or groaning storehouse, maybe when the devs finally get around to reworking maps so all are more fair for both sides they might make some slight adjustments to gideon.

Also the game isn't really geared for all killers, trapper only has a few viable spots to put traps without it being the most obvious thing in the world and there are some jukes that survivors can do to lose the killer.

  • @Spork said:
A Character who can cross the map in seconds has no business using a perk that reveals survivor locations. Either make it soley a point perk, or slow down his sprint/get rid of his instant down. The tips and tricks everyone knows to counter BBQ and Chilli don't work against him. He's able to reach you too quickly. If you're unlucky enough to run into one who waits for you to be unhooked, then it's even worse. Please do something about it, he's not fun to play against. Hags with make your choice and Mint Rag are more tolerable, which is almost as toxic.

You know, if a billy can see your aura with BBQ and get to you within 5 seconds then it's more of a positioning problem on your part.

If you suspect billy has BBQ (and you should be expecting it for EVERY killer) then keep objects and walls between you and billy so he can't just bee-line to you which buys enough time for you to hide, or the simple be within 40m when he hooks.

  • DS - can be countered by enduring or avoided by juggling to a close hook.
NOED - can be countered by survivors having the foresight to destroy all the totems before finishing the gens.
Insidious- can be countered by survivors using their eyes and ears instead of relying on a TR to tell them the killer is near.

all perks that have easy counters but too many people are simply too lazy.

  • These survivor buffs aren't really that big a deal.

Bloodlust was created to counter many of the BS loops that existed long ago and the majority of them have been fixed, everyone knew bloodlust would be nerfed when the problematic loops got fixed. Besides how often do people even get bloodlust 2+ without actively trying to get it anyway?

The trap buffering is fair enough, if the trap isn't fully disarmed then why can't it trap some idiot who walks over it, pretty weird change to make after trapper just got buffed but whatever, only swf will get practical benefit from it anyway and they all already know where traps are anyway thanks to voice comms.

The wonky pallets have been stated multiple times to be problematic regarding reaction time and the devs have said since the release of chapter 8 that they were fixing it, you and everyone else knew that change was coming so why so surprised. I can't count the number of times I got BS hits even though I got stunned because of how wonky pallets were.

survivors losing exhaustion when hooked will be a good change to help deal with campers and at least give the person some small chance of getting away without being instantly downed as soon as their feet touch the ground. Other status effects shouldn't be affected however since that negates many add-ons like begrimed chainsaw and even perks like sloppy butcher so only exhaustion should be heal on hook.

The dead hard thing is about those buggy instances where you used dead hard and the game recognized it because exhaustion takes but you still got hit despite apparently using it. It's a bug fix, they're not refunding dead hard if the survivor used it and the killer waited for it before hitting them.

There's literally no reason to start crying since they're small buffs and survivors did get some pretty good nerfs alongside some great killer buffs. it's how balance works, it never stays the same and it's constantly changing, every multiplayer game has it and players simply need to adapt.

  • 2018 and people still don't know how to counter BBQ.
Jeez guys it's easy, go one way for 4 seconds then go another, hide behind a gen or hide within 40m of hook. It's really not that hard.

  • @Jeeperrs said:
I stopped playing DBD after update, its now unplayable as survivor now. Tunneling killers, camping killers, God Mode for killers, they made it not fun for survivors and probably now killers now the main focus of game. DC this game everyone.

Did you get carried by sprint bursts and easy pallet loops and learnt nothing about stealth and tactics? Then yea, your not gonna have much luck without adapting to the changes.

Meta changes and new/changed game mechanics are common in online multiplayer games, balance is fluid and one side is not gonna be OP forever.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

Stop... I've seen survivors liking the bug actually because it makes for more scares its not that bad except maybe for baby survivors and it doesn't even make that big of difference .. without the ability of hearing survivors that's actually game breaking for the killer side.... Myers came in without a TR almost 2yrs ago now dont try to tell me survivors depend on the heart beat that much... the howling grounds TR is a different story

Not only that but it makes good practise for improving awareness by spotting a killer from all distances without relying on the TR to make them more aware. The bug needs to be fixed there's no denying that but at the same time we should use it to train observation skills while we still can.

  • "OH MY GOD WOULD YOU UNINSTALL DBD YOU CAMPING PIECE OF CRAP!"

this is what I recieved after a 4k hag game with the "camping" actually being the survivors running blindly into my traps while going for a save, you'd think someone would've learnt after the 5th time but nope.
  • Yea it's a bit weird, I also play clown and many times I anticipate the vault and throw the gas before the survivor reaches the vault but they still fast vault anyway despite not being in the animation before the gas.

Chester mentions that if they're already in the vault animation before gassed then they still go fast but situations like what you mentioned do happen from time to time.

One theory I noticed although unlikely is that there's a slight delay before the full intoxication effect applies and if they get gassed 1 second before making the vault then it's still be fast but if gassed for 2 or 3 seconds then it's be a slow.

doesn't happen all the time but when it does it's incredibly annoying (especially if it's on the groaning storehouse loop) and perhaps the devs have already noticed and will make a slight adjustment soon to make it a bit more consistent, maybe try asking about this on the next dev Q&A.

So tired of killers getting away with bullshit exploits that aren’t considered exploits but if a survivor does the tiniest loop he’s a pos. Again I’m not a main on either side but killers can legit exploit dstrike and flashlight saves but if a survivor blocks a hook it’s a problem

Hold on, isnt the flashlight exploit to crash the game used by a survivor?
And how can a killer exploit DS?

By killer exploiting DS I think they mean either the killer dribbling the survivor to a nearby hook which isn't really that big a deal or the killer hitting something while DS is hit to prevent the stun, although I'm pretty sure that one got patched so I have no idea what other exploit their talking about.

  • Flashlight saves actually take some skill now instead of being something a 12 year old could do? Oh the inhumane horror.

Also flashlights aren't only used for saves. In case survivors don't know it yet, flashlights are also used to blind killers when breaking pallets or vaulting in order to gain some distance and break LoS for an escape without the killer being able to see you for a bit.

  • flashlight saves are still possible but it actually requires some skill and has some chance of failing rather than being a guaranteed save.

All they did was speed up the pick-up timing a bit so you just need to flash a little earlier than before.

Also flashlights aren't just for saves as you can use em to blind the killer at a pallet or vault and use it as an opening to lose the killer, done it plenty of times myself and have witnessed many others do it, if your having trouble than maybe you weren't as good at using flashlights as you originally thought you were.
  • lightweight, really helps when I'm going for stealth/lose the killer plays. (Especially when combined with iron will)
