Demodoggy was never gone for me because I bought the DLC before it was removed.

HOWEVER I missed the hamster jumping in a cage of the second floor in Hawkins.

Well, he may not have been GONE-gone, but considering how rare Demo became after he was pulled off the shelves, we all missed him!

Aaaaah, were did you come up with this Chapter if you don't mind me asking?

A long time after this comment, but legitimately, this came out of a dream. I refined some concepts while conscious, but the general idea came from sleeping.

I like the sound of the base power a lot, it sounds really fun, albeit potentially unreliable. Riccochet can be really hard to nail down but if it can work consistently, I would absolutely play this dude. Being unable to attack at all while your power is on cooldown is definitely an interesting aspect to his kit, not sure how I feel about that one.

To be entirely honest though, the oblivious and blindness parts of no savior sound largely pointless though. You're probably not gonna be sneaking up on anyone anytime soon while holding a person.

I'm gonna be absolutely honest with you, No Saviour is intended to play along with the "Carry Build"TM, where you use Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, and Agitation, leaving you to be a bit of a spooky man, or even skulking away with your prey if you use Knock Out for whatever ungodly reason.

if this perk happens to be in dbd then terror radius build doctor is going to be fun with calm addons

Oh yeah, that'll be absolutely nutty.

So its just 60 seconds to get a mori on some one? Cause you said it is a 5 second cooldown, and I am assuming you can just whip it out and instant shoot like Cenobite's chain. No Hope wasn't an issue with the memeyness, I like it. Just might want some buffering. For No Savior's Power Creep? Not really a good excuse. You say that survivor's got power creep, but I think the only perk in the last 2 years to actually shake up the meta of DH, BT, Unbreak, DS, etc is CoH. And that's just because that one isn't well designed. Power creep is also stupid, and is a lame excuse. And noed getting adjusted? I don't think they've adjusted many of the colorless perks. Last one was Small game to make it stop screwing Trapper unnecessarily. I wouldn't assume that they're going to fix their game.

I mean, those are fair concerns. I just have too much undeserved hope that BHVR would fix some issues, in regards to your last point, there.

    XD

As for the power creep thing, I know it isn't a good excuse, but meh. Just didn't have much other reason for what I put in. Nothing else to be said, really.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315626/killer-concept-the-fearmonger

As far as concepts go, its pretty good. Though I have a few questions/concerns.

FtR: The idea of a bouncing chain allowing you to teleport to a survivor, akin to the Lament Config, is pretty cool. And if the power was just the scythe to gain tracking and mobility, there would probably be no issue, as this makes him in the same ball park as Onryo in strength. You trade immediate pressure to scout the map. Very fair.

It's the Exposed and the Mori that concern me. What's stopping him from pegging a person with the sickle repeatedly in order to prepare the instant mori? I'm not seeing any form of counterplay that a Survivor could do.

NH: You saying interact, like how Hex: Pentimento interacts with dead totems, or interact in the way that Diversion is an interact? If the latter, killer's don't get that button. If the former, maybe limit it to stage 2 only, as killing one self is loud in stage 1, and inverse the tiering to 60/50/40 seconds, because this does make it harder to pressure the hook if someone can stay alive twice as long on Hook. Or find something else to tier, potentially making it tier bonus Sacrifice BP, so the tiers are consistent in effect. Additionally, it may need to be limited to once per match (not that it would be useful after the first attempt at using it, as they will already know you could do this), as the ability to drop the number of active players for a time is quite useful. Really cool idea, just maybe a little ironing.

NS: Iron Grasp already mitigates the wiggle effect. Maybe have if physically obscure the carried survivor's vision, and then tier it based on how long the effects of the perk linger after hook, maybe 4/6/8 seconds of lingering effect.

NL: The TR on Totems is such a fun idea. The respawning Dull Totems kneecaps Pentimento, and makes NoED and TotH a bit too strong. Maybe after snuffing a Boon, all Totems gain your TR and are blocked for 20/25/30 seconds. You become Undetectable for that time. Base ability of allowing you to see all Totems in Yellow from the start of the Match, to lessen any time that you would spend looking for a Boon.

Again, these are just ideas, based on the concerns I had when reading this. Really good ideas.

Thank you for your input! This is a really solid review, and I'll try to address your concerns and comments down the list!

1: Fear the Reaper- The trick is that in order to do that, the Fearmonger has to waste tons of time waiting for the cooldown of FtR, since the cooldown and Carnal Fear stack gain is based on *total distance traveled* by the sickle, so if he just spams it at close range, he gets 1 stack out of it, once every 5 seconds at most. Additionally, teleporting consumes all Carnal Fear stacks unless he teleports to a Survivor with 10 stacks, so he has to be ABSOLUTELY SURE he can swoop in for the kill before committing to it. (No, he doesn't get to see how many stacks they have until they reach the point where tangible effects begin. Plus, if they're already at 10 stacks, they can be insta-moried like Meyers' Tombstone addons, making the Exposed status actually worse for him in that case.

2: No Hope- The idea for this perk was to be a bit of a memey "fakeout" perk, with some weird utility for unaware solos. The mere existence of this perk could cause people to double-guess a death-hook, even if for a moment. Also, the Killer using this perk would get a prompt while hooking a Survivor to trigger it.

3: No Saviour- Honestly, I wasn't sure what other not-totally-obnoxious status I could have inflicted on the Survivor with this one, but the idea is that it both reduces the struggle time AND wiggle effectiveness, thereby allowing it to mitigate Boil Over and work as well as Iron Grasp. If Survivors get perk power creep, why not Killers, too?

4: No Light- It isn't especially friendly to Pentimento, no, and it might make NoED kind of... Busted, but I'm basing this idea on the concept that BHVR would be smart enough to tweak NoED beforehand or something. An edit could be made that turns these dulls into Pentimento shades or something, I guess, but the concept is the same. The yellow aura for totems is an interesting idea, but considering that this perk was primarily designed to be the anti-Boon perk Killers have been crying for since Mikaela's release, I went with this idea over anything else.

Like I mentioned at the bottom of my post, this concept might be a tad overpowered, but again, I got it from a dream, so what can you expect?

Thank you so much for your review, though!

  • @GreenDemo said:

I think there is a thread for killer ideas to post , but apart from that IS soo good.

Yeah, sure it's a mix match of like... 3-4 diffrent killers (but so people said about Onryo), but the fact it came up in a dream and you thought out perks / numbers for his power ? Very nice. Bravo man.

    If there is, I'm blind.

But yeah, this is definitely a mix of like, 3 or 4 Killers that exist now, but since he's both pretty strong conceptually, has a level of skill involved(Bouncing the sickle), and has a theme BHVR hasn't explicitly focused on yet, it puts him pretty high up on the quality list.

That and the perks are pretty good, too.

    XD

I don't think we even need to get into detail here, in order to have grounds for loathing everything about the current system, as it is not even close to a Skill Based Matchmaking, combine that with the extremely shady approach Behaviour has chosen and I myself am surprised people are willing to tolerate it.

Also, time to post my favourite quote by Patrick, the Lead Game Designer, that is best enjoyed when read in an extremely condescending tone: "There's sort of, a question I get asked a lot, I see from the community, I've even had people on the team talk to me about. They talk about the Survivor perspective of: I was playing a game of Survivor and I looped the Killer for seven consecutive hours and I unhooked, y'know, eighteen other Survivors and I healed for ninety-three health states, I fixed ten generators, it was such an amazing game, I truly am a god amongst men when I play Dead by Daylight. But then, right at the end, I got thrown on a hook and I died and I don't like that counts as a loss. And the idea here is, wouldn't it be nice if you could do all of that and sometimes you get out alive? Right? Wouldn't that be nice? That's the idea, that's all that MMR is trying to do. It goes, I know you've died, it's ignoring how you got there, because there's too much nuance to be able to make a real, effective system."

And you know the funny bit?

They say that it's too complicated to make a system that tracks these things...

But they ALREADY HAVE A SYSTEM THAT DOES THIS.

Emblems LITERALLY do exactly what MMR was supposed to do- Track what you do in a match.

They literally lied to our faces, spouted nonsense for a year, then sent out Escape/Kill-Based Matchmaking, which has done basically nothing to help any of the problems with matchmaking the game has had.

In some cases, yeah, it helps.

    But on the whole...

    Not really.

This is what is just gonna happen with most new killers. We saw this with Twins, Trickster, Nemesis, and Pinhead. Probably the Artist as well. They will be just... Forgotten in a week. Sure there will obviously be that group that mains them and plays them and sure maybe she'll be played more out of some of these. Like how Nemesis is seen more than Pinhead but he still isn't all that common anyways. New killers aren't enough anymore for people.

I mean, for the latest Killers, they just aren't good enough to appeal to people who aren't in it for the "Holy #########, Nemesis in DBD!" fad.

The Artist might change that if she isn't gutted upon release like Pinhead was.

Legitimately, Pinhead's chains actually stuck around long enough to make an impact during the PTB, and I dunno what they did to them, but now they're about as useful as wet newspaper chains.

Looks like we had very different expectations from BHVR. You expected another game mode and tons of new content. I expected they forget about halloween again. So I consider recent event was success.

And I'm pretty satisfied if next event will recieve at least same amount of effort from dev team.

I would have at least expected some form of secondary objective or reward that wasn't ham-fisted in a system I refuse to use out of principle.

And the Anniversary event had Crowns, I know, but even the year 5 Crowns were just bad, since they were just reskins of the year 4 Crowns, which while not surprising, we could at least have gotten something better out of it.

  • Boon Totems.

If I have to get more specific than that:

    Boon: Circle of Healing.

I cannot STAND how stupidly overpowered this perk is.

It's like old Mettle of Man come bacj to haunt me.

  • @kaeru said:

Devs said that they want to focus only on 2 holidays - Halloween and Lunar New Year (or anniversary I don't remember), because events are very time consuming. Seems like they found the way to make good events in time. I like the idea of making little simple archives for events + some simple mechanic like crushing pumpkins or snowmen.

    G-Good events?

We got a recycle of the year 4 anniversary and PUMPKIN SMASHIG for Halloween this year, with pity "Collective" unlockable Cosmetics and NADA respectively in each!

BHVR have disappointed me time and time again with their false promises, lies, and broken releases.

If they do a Christmas event, it would be the same thing as the Anniversary/Halloween "events", if you could even call them that.

I just saw this, my perk Set For Disaster is similar. Yours is probably more counterable but mine lasts for less time. When did you come up with it?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2639998#Comment_2639998

This seems like a very powerful tradeoff considering you can 'farm' blinds and stuns. I like the idea though.

I came up with it long ago, and it was designed to be a strong Hex with an effect the Killer could potentially drag out if the Survivors don't happen to cleanse it in the first 20 seconds of the game.

High risk, high reward, after all.

  • I've shared this (Probably OP AF) concept before, but:

    Hex: Death Spiral-

A Hex rooting its power on the fear of failure.

For each unique Survivor that is hooked, this Hex gains a token.

When the Exit Gates are opened, Hex: Death Spiral activates.

Upon activation, Hex: Death Spiral blocke the Exit Gates for 30 seconds per token. If this Hex is cleansed, the effect immediately ends.

  • You know, I've actually baited out Flashie saves as Demo by placing a Portal for a fraction of a second before standing up. He crouches down, puts a hand to the ground like he's picking someone up, and stands up again, and this is a huge bait for the flashie saver.

I swear by Lightborn, man. As soon as someone blinds me, I basically stop playing that Killer until I get Lightborn slapped on 'em.

I think Exponential is going to be much, much worse. It completely negates slugging, which is sadly a huge part of the killer meta even at intermediate levels.

I dunno, I don't capitalize on slugging much, so I won't be quite as affected, but then again, I also swear by Lightborn and run Starstruck a lot, so unless you go down under a pallet, there ain't no saving you from my grabby hands.

RPD does look good, which is honestly the only thing I like about it.

Again, with the right build and killer it's...manageable. I certainly wouldn't say fun.

With the wrong killer, and survivors who abuse the aforementioned loop, it's abysmal.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2624958#Comment_2624958

Don't look at the new survivor perks. Trust me, you'll want to eat a kitten.

I already have, and I still think Healing Circle is the most busted-OP perk ever created, aside from maybe old Mettle of Man.

  • I want to agree with you.

    Truly, I do.

But with the addition of Boon Totems, I just can't agree, no matter how much I want to...

  • Yeah, it's pretty much a double-standard.

I guess BHVR got tired of the memes about them being Survivor-sided and decided to go full-tilt toward their side.

  • You know, back in the day, I would have been against this idea...

But now that DS is legitimately an anti-tunnel perk, I'd be fine with a guaranteed DS if they manage to get it off, no skill check needed.

  • Hi! Welcome to the Fog!

First off, lemme say I respect you picking Myers to be your main, as Myers is one of the worst Killers in the game right now, sadly.

Second, if you own no DLC to speak of, then yeah, you're going to suffer, especially because the majority of Myers' Perks are worthless in the meta.

Each Killer has 3 perks to unlock for the others, and Myers... Well, he has one that is actually worth something, but only for specific Killers.

Dying Light, sadly, sucks. The slowdown only helps if you're already winning the match.

Play With Your Food is useful for specific meme builds, but rarely sees use due to the fact that it relies on you potentially shooting yourself in the foot to get a speed boost.

Save the Best For Last, however, is a great Perk, and cannot be slept on. Being able to hit people multiple times in quick succession is fantastic, especially as an M1 Killer like Myers.

I would advise, however, that you seek out better perk builds, likely gained through buying other Killers.

Oh, and NOED is complained about because Survivors think it is incredibly unfair to face for no reason.

  • @botrax said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2567044#Comment_2567044

That the choice you make knowing its not the optimal play. So you are risking an easy win for enjoyement out of the match nothing wrong with that. Honestly a player should not complain about other choice of perk. Like you said maybe he was counting on the other guy having DS so he took a chance.

On a personal note most of the time i had more out of self care compare to all the other perk in the survivor arsenal only because after my gen i dont need to waste time looking for someone else i can just self care right there or go for an end game unhook when only 2 people are alive

Not gonna lie, Self Care with Botany Knowledge and Desperate Measures is a pretty strong combo.

Pair that with a strong medkit using the new Built To Last coming out, and we've got ourselves a spicy a-meatball.

  • Playing him after his most recent nerf as of October 2021, Freddy feels noticeably weaker than before, and the only real unique thing he has is teleporting to generators. The Dream World mehanic no longer does a lot, his snares are less-than-effective, and pallets got nerfed unnecessarily.

  • @Marik13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2545022#Comment_2545022

But you see that would make it fun and engaging in a way where you actually have to think about the risk and reward and we can't have complicated things like that in this game! This is an M1 and W holding Christian minecraft server sir!

Oh yeah, that's right. My bad. Guess good ideas aren't allowed to exist in this game.

    *Sigh.*

  • You know, I always said that the only way Boons would be balanced is if Survivors could only bless Hexes, perhaps with an extra blank Hex spawning at the start, creating a fusion Totem where both the Survivor AND the Killer benefits from it, and either side can destroy it to get rid of a potentially powerful perk for the other team, at the cost of destroying it for themselves.

  • ...

Wait a minute, as of when did Nea officially become a Killer?!

  • I could see both ends of the spectrum.

Some would abuse it to bait-and-switch with Killers they know how to play, but others would do it for the memes and the fun times.

Or if they had a really good game and want to live it again.

Also just because the dev update implied that you could relight them, doesn't mean you can, it could be completely possible that survivors can only carry out a blessing once per match.

Man, this comment did not age well...

50% more would be 4.5s per blink. 9 for 2 and 13.5 for 3. The default 6s is painful enough and againsts those that hold W, you waste a lot of time just catching up.

I hope its enough to keep people from using it.

    So 13.5 seconds of cooldown.

That is bonkers. There is no way that is allowed, right?

  • If the calculations are right, either Nurse is gonna be on cooldown after that third blink for a whopping SEVEN SECONDS, or NEARLY TWENTY seconds, which sohnds entirely bonkers crazy.

  • @indieeden7 said:

Tbh a boon totem that actively punishes camping would be a really cool idea, e.g. while the totem is blessed, if the killer is within x meters of a hooked survivor, the entity progression bar is slowed by 50%.

It was abused, as always, by SWF tryhards.

I personally think demogorgon has the best set of add-ons in the game though.

So don't get me wrong, Demo has great addons.

The problem is that a lot of those addons are either inferior to the effects of other addons that are MORE COMMON, or have niche uses.

Demo has some FANTASTIC addons, but largely, he still has quite a few mostly-pointless ones.

  • What?

This title makes no sense, so saying "Read the title" elaborates on nothing.

Except Huntress and Demogorgons passes were excellent.

    Excellent?

Half of Demo's addons are still borderline useless outside of niche use cases, a brown is still one of his best addons, and Huntress still has crappy hatchet addons.

I'm expressing a cautious optimism, but I don't think BHVR will do more good than harm.

  • The one way I see this working is if Boons have strong effects, but can only be applied to Hex Totems, transforming them into a Boon Totem, but leaving the Hex effect active on top of that.

Then the Killer has to make the choice of sabotaging their own Hex to be rid of the Boon, or leave it up to use Devour Hope or Ruin with a downside.

How about his new iridescent that gives 5 seconds of undetectable when you are revealed. Perhaps BHVRs magnum opus, you move slightly faster while leaning.

That last one is godlike, can confirm as a totally-real-beta tester.

  • Honestly, just buff solo queue to SWF level by granting everyone comms, and you'll have free reign to buff Killers to match.

Since SWF won't matter one bit with open comms for Survivors, Killers across the board will be much more viable to get buffs.

Hey, @GeneralV, thanks for replying. You're right about the ebbs and flows of toxicity and about Dead by Daylight having a bad reputation and history of toxicity. Any veterans like us know that and have seen it in the game and on the forum for years now. What I'm trying to ask and to understand is what active Killers think they are accomplishing. I'm fully prepared for that answer to simply be "Well I was mad at a different Survivor so I bullied other people" or "Well I don't like the game balance so I'm punishing other players for it" but I really do like to believe that people aren't that immature or vindictive. Perhaps there's not going to be an enlightening answer because this behavior is just petty, immature bullying but... I don't know. You know me! I try to see the good in people/situations or at least understand them. 😅

And that is the problem, methinks.

You try to see the good in people that do these things, but unfortunately, DBD changes people. It shapes them into horrible people, even if only while they play.

Nobody knows what it is, or why it is, but this is the effect the game has on people.

  • As a Killer Main, unfortunately, that's just the state this game is in at this point.

Nobody likes getting steamrolled time and time again, and for most Killers, this is their reality.

They play the game, expecting to at least get a decent match out of it, but then they get toxic tryhard sweatlord SWF meta build clicky clicky butt-dance GGEZBabyNoobTunnelCamperKiller Survivors on a constant basis, and it simply makes the game unfun, so they decide to spread the hate to the poor individuals such as yourself who don't deserve it, but are on the out because those same SWF players don't care about helping anyone beyond their own group, and even if everyone is playing together, the Killer will do everything they can to secure their kill, if not rub it in the face of those who MIGHT be those jerkwads who go around like that.

These are troubling times, and I don't know if DBD will truly recover.

  • @CluelessWanderer said:
